Why Is Israel Entering Syrian Civil War Now

After years of working covertly to destabilise Syria, why has Israel waited until now to intervene in the conflict between the Assad regime and the ISIS / Al Nusra Front Islamic extremists. Israel usually only attacks when attaced, preferring to manipulate political developments in the middle east from the shadows. In spite of that the government of Benjamin Netenyahu has chosen to directly attack Syria.

Overnight (Wed. evening/Thursday early morning), Israel attacked a Syrian military base near the town of Masyaf at about 3:00 a.m. which Syria has now confirmed in a statement that warns of "serious repercussions". Syria reported two troop deaths in the attack. It appears to have been a massive strike - grainy photos, like the one below, show a large fireball lighting up the night sky outside of Masyaf.

The U.S. has recently seemed to be backing away from the route to militarily intervene in the embattled nation, instead choosing to focus its saber-rattling and destabilization efforts on other theaters, notably North Korea. The consequence of this has been an apparent winding down of the long-running conflict, now entering its seventh year, in which ISIS had the upper hand until Russia and Iran, pissed off by Obama and David Cameron having repeatedly stated that the west's priority was to depose Assad rather than to oppose terrorism. What we must ask ourselves is why this has made the Israelis panic, because this military intervention could end so disastrously for Israel and the whole of the middle east it can only have happened as a result of panic .

With support from Russia, Iran and Lebanon, the Syrian government led by President Bashar al-Assad has managed to retake vast swaths of territory, all while surviving and growing stronger over the course of a largely foreign-funded onslaught. As a result, many of the governments that were instrumental in funding and arming the so-called “moderate” opposition have begun to extricate themselves, unwilling to further test the resilience of Assad, the Syrian people or Syria's powerful allies, Russia, China and Iran.

Israeli media and defense officials quickly claimed that the strike at Masyaf was on a chemical weapons facility: they know the "humanitarian" angle sells in the West, especially when coupled with allegations of civilians being gassed. Currently, this is putting the dubious and contested claim that the Syrian government attacked Khan Sheikhoun with sarin gas back in the spotlight at a time when Israel is eager to sell war for regime change while casting its actions in terms of protecting and defending civilians from a brutal dictator. While it seems doubtful that Assad, who whatever else he may be is not a stupid man, would launch an attack with an illegal weapon against civilians when his forces were on the brink of victory, what is certainly untrue in that story is the allegation that Sarin was the gas used. News photos and video showed aid workers helping affected civilians (who were sitting up and smiling, with their faces uncovered and wearing T shirts and shorts. Sarin is so toxic full hazmat suits and breating apparatus would have been required, and in a densely populated area many more people would have died.

With a resolution to the long running conflict within reach, recent threats from Israel’s government to assassinate Assad by bombing his residence have appeared out of the blue. The first sign that Israel was not ready to let go in Syria even if Washington was came when, According to the Jerusalem Post, a senior Israeli official on a recent visit to Russia warned the Kremlin that if Iran continues to "extend its reach" in Syria, Israel would bomb the presidential palace in Damascus.

Israel’s comments should come as no surprise, however, although the foreign-funded and manufactured conflict in Syria was always accredited to the USA and Saudi Arabia, Syria has long been a thorn in Israels side and stood in the way of US and Saudi geopolitical ambitions. The only real surprise is Tel Aviv’s growing isolation in pushing for the further escalation of the conflict.

WikiLeaks sheds light on the origins of the war

Though Israel has avoided being labeled a major player in bid to depose Assad, Israel has a long tradition of cooperating with Saudi Arabia economically, harbours ambitions of destroying Iran (that rivalry goes back to the time of Cyrus The Great (around 600 BC), and has long-standing issues with Syria (which were already old when Cyrs The Great was a lad. Only Wikileaks has illuminated the long standing ambition in Washington, Tel Aviv and Riyadh to remove the secular regime in Damascus. State Department diplomatic cables from the period when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, released by WikiLeaks last year have shown has that in 2006, five years before the conflict in Syria kicked off, the government of Israel proposed a plan to overthrow the Assad government by engineering sectarian strife in the country, and put a Sunni Muslim regime in place, thus isolating Syria from its strongest regional ally, Iran.

Israel then put this plan, which would also involve Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar and Egypt in fomenting the "breakdown" of the Assad regime as a way of weakening both Iran and Hezbollah — with the effect of empowering both Israel and the Gulf monarchies, two seemingly disparate forces in the region that are becoming increasingly allied.

Miami Residents Scramble To Evacuate As Hurricane Irma Approaches

After flattening much of the Leeward Islands, blowing our power supplies in Puerto Rico and leaving a trail of destruction through the Caribbean, Hurricane Irma is continuing its terrible progress through the region and is is expected to make landfall in Miami sometime this weekend.

Irma's 185+ mph winds left 90% of the dwellings on the island of Barbuda completely leveled and the island barely inhabitable, according to Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

Irma's power isn't expected to subside all that much as it moves through the Caribbean over the next couple of days, blasting several islands in its path before ending up in Southern Florida. Hurricane Harvey, which hammmered the coasts of Texas and Louisiana only a few days ago hit three times, unlike all previous hurricanes which have rapidly blown themselves out over land. If Irma does the same this will wreak havoc in Florida's heavily populated south.

Here is the latest from the National Hurricane Center:


Maximum sustained winds remain near 180 mph (285 km/h) with higher gusts. Irma is a category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some fluctuations in intensity are likely during the next day or two, but Irma is forecast to remain a powerful category 4 or 5 hurricane during the next couple of days.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 50 miles (85 km) from the eye of the hurricane and storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles (295 km).

The combination of a life-threatening storm surge and large breaking waves will raise water levels ABOVE NORMAL TIDE LEVELS by the following amounts within the hurricane warning area near and to the north of the center of Irma. Near the coast, the surge will be accompanied by large and destructive waves.

According to hurricane watchers, Miami looks increasingly likely to take a direct hit from a massive hurricane packing sustained winds of 150-155 mph.

More than 100,000 Miami residents have been instructed to leave their homes on barrier islands, including Miami Beach, and in low-lying mainland areas starting Thursday morning which has created a logistics nightmare at Florida's airports and on highway evacuation routes.

According to the Washington Post, airlines added flights earlier this week to accommodate a surge in demand but many have been canceled and airports have warned that operations will be halted once winds exceed 55 mph.

Late Wednesday, American Airlines announced it would begin winding down its operations in Florida and had canceled flights at its Miami hub as well as to airports in Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Sarasota and West Palm Beach. In addition, it canceled a handful of international flights from Europe and South American that were scheduled to land in Miami on Friday.

Officials at Key West International Airport said they would suspend commercial operations at the end of the day Thursday, and Miami International Airport advised travelers it will halt operations at the airport when winds reach 55 mph. Generally, airlines do not operate in sustained crosswinds that exceed 35 mph, and the Federal Aviation Administration tower ceases operations after winds of 55 mph, the airport noted.

Of course, the added flights didn't stop Delta from taking advantage of the surge in demand from frightened travelers.

Meanwhile, as the Wall Street Journal points out, those looking to flee by car are facing similar hassles with long lines at gas stations...at least at the ones that have any gas left to sell.

Google Extends Its Powers, Become The Master Spy Of The Digital Age

Google is the Master Spy of the Intelligence Community 

Most people in the developed world and many in the third world (thanks to programs funded by control freak American billionaires) have exposed much of their personal lives to the spyware of the corporatist and government partnership. 

Google was developed funding from and under the auspices of the U.S. intelligence communities, aka  The Deep State. The marvel of a premier digital search engine was welcomed as a tremendous achievement by everyone who longed for a definitive method to secure access to sites that reflected market or research results. Few brand names have become synonymous with the product or service provided. Around the world people refer to making a copy reproduction Xeroxing the document? 

Likewise, as a pure commercial function, Google became synonymous with internet searches, though they were not the first and have never been the best of search engines. So how did this upstart, according to legend the brainchild of a couple of semi - autistic computers nerds who were still in college, come to achieve a near monopoly in its field?

Fast forward to the current trend towards draconian governance. What stands out is that the systematic rewriting of history and access to a free exchange of ideas and questioning has been supplanted by an approved filter with limited options. Because although Google promised to liberate information it has in fact done the opposite.

In order to appreciate just how information seekers have been corralled into the pens of sheeple dipping,  now in order to avoid targeted search results and targeted content, based on Google's algorithmically defined "model" or our individual personalities, we need to create a PC alternate identity in order to be part of society.  Such changes are claimed to have made people’s lives much better than before, computers are unencumbered by emotions and instinct and therefore will always make better decisions than humans we are told. In fact people’s existence is really worse in many ways.

Last Monday, the North Korean government fired a Hwasong-12 ballistic missile over Hokkaido Island, Japan. The missile overflew the island and landed harmlessly in the Pacific Ocean. Mainstreammedia in the U.S. and Europe immediately went into a frenzy, competing for who could be most outraged at Fat Boy Kim'slatest provocative act that showed the North’s defiance of UN resolutions and contempt for its neighbors and for the cause of peace. President Trump, now totally under the control of the Deep State sharply criticized the missile test, reading a prepared statement that stated: "Threatening and destabilizing actions only increase the North Korean regime’s isolation in the region and among all nations of the world. All options are on the table."

What the media failed to mention is that, for several weeks, Japan, South Korea and the US have been carrying out large-scale joint-military exercises on Hokkaido Island and in South Korea, close to the North Korean border. These needlessly provocative exercises simulate an invasion of North Korea and a "decapitation operation to remove the regime. (Regime change? It's deja vu allover again as the saying goes.)North Korea’s government has repeatedly asked the US to end these military exercises, but the US has stubbornly refused. The US reserves the right to threaten anyone, anytime and anywhere even right on their doorstep. It’s what the cocksucker president Barack Hussein Obama believed makes the US exceptional and "the only indispensable nation".

Fox News reported the joint exercises thus:

“More than 3,500 American and Japanese troops kicked off a weeks-long joint military exercise Thursday against the backdrop of an increasingly belligerent North Korean regime. The exercise, known as Northern Viper 17, will take place on Hokkaido — Japan’s northern-most main island — and will last until Aug. 28….

"We are improving our readiness not only in the air, but as a logistical support team,” Col. R. Scott Jobe, the 35th Fighter Wing commander, said in a statement. “We are in a prime location for contingency purposes and this exercise will only build upon our readiness in the case a real-world scenario occurs." (US, Japanese troops begin joint military exercise amid North Korea threat”, Fox News)

Monday’s missile launch took place just after the war games ended. The message was clear: North Korea is not going to be humiliated and bullied without responding. Rather than show weakness, the North demonstrated that it was prepared to defend itself against foreign aggression. In other words, the test was NOT a "provocative act" but a reasonable response tocontinuous provocation by a country that has experienced 64 years of relentless hectoring, threats, sanctions, demonization and saber rattling from Washington. The North responded because the Washington’s incitements required a response. End of story.

And the same is true of the three short-range ballistic missiles the North tested last week. These tests were in response to the 3 week-long joint-military exercises as close to North Korea's border as it is possible to be without actually crossing it. The exercises in South Korea involved 75,000 combat troops accompanied by hundreds of tanks, armored vehicles, landing craft, heavy artillery, a full naval flotilla and flyovers by squadrons of state of the art fighters and strategic bombers. Was the North supposed to sit on its hands while this menacing display of brute military force took place right under its nose???

Of course not. Imagine if Russia engaged in a similar operation over the border in Mexico while the Russian fleet conducted "live fire" drills three miles outside of San Francisco Bay. Or if China started to protect its geopolitical interests by closing the South China Sea to hostile naval ships. What do you think Washington’s reaction would be? Yes, it would involve a lot of big explosions,and rightly so. So why the double standard when it comes to North Korea? Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

North Korea should be applauded for showing that it won’t be intimidated by the schoolyard bully. Western media keeps saying that Pyong Yang knows any confrontation with the US must end badly for the The People's Republic. But hold on, China has said it will not allow U.S. or South Korean troops to enter North Korea, and Vladimir Putin has weighed in, warning that Russia may - and most likely will - use its Security Council veto to stop any further sanctions against the North Korean regime from being implemented.

Putin, who is in China for a meeting of leaders from the BRICS countries, said that sanctions at this point would be "counter-productive" and that US threats of military action could trigger "a global catastrophe and a huge loss of human life," according to Reuters. Some US diplomats have quietly agreed with the Russian leader, noting that if the barrage of already imposed sanctions on Pyongyang hasn't changed the country's behavior, then any incremental actions would likely have no impact either. And before the US acts militarily it will have to follow its usual course of putting together a "coalition of the willing" to legitimize its belligerence

Hurricane Harvey Climate Catastrophe Man Made?

As we reported last week the Hurricane Harvey disaster which has hit the U.S. states of Texas and Louisiana has shown characteristics never before observed in any hurricane or tropical storm since records began. Meteorological depressions (because that is what hurricanes, typhoons and other intense storms are,) move and once over land quickly weaken as air pressures become normalised. Low-fat diet could kill you, major study shows

A major study has found that, contrary to 'the established science,'low-fat diets could raise the risk of early death by almost twenty five percent. The study of 135,000 adults, organised by medical magazine The Lancet and presented at the European Society Of Cardiology congress found those who cut back on fats had far shorter lives than those enjoying plenty of butter, cheese and meats.

Researchers said the study was at odds with the advice health professionals and researchers working for pharmaceutical corporations have been offering for the past fifty years. From government health departments to our local doctor, the advice has always been "cut down on fats and avoid saturated fats because they will kill you. For many years now however, independent research has shown that fats, including saturated fats, are healthy and beneficial and processed carbohydrates are the real villain, with white sugar at the top of the list

Following the official advice has let to people who thought they were eating healthily to eat far too much stodgy food like bread, pasta and rice while missing out on vital nutrients, the study reported.

Participants who consumed the highest levels of carbohydrates, especially the refined sugars found in fizzy drinks and processed meals, faced a 28 per cent higher risk of early death (as always we add a caveat about statistics, always ask percentage of what? In this case, because figures vary widely from study to study if we assume at around 25% (1 in 4) adults under 70 will have some kind of cardiovascular problem, then those who have a 28% higher risk (again 1 in 4 for the sake of simplicity) have a 28% of 25% higher risk.)

The research, presented at the European Society of Cardiology Congress, in Barcelona found those with low intake of saturated fat in fact had 13 per cent higher risk if early death compared to those eating plenty.

And consuming high levels of all fats while reducing refined carbohydrates cut mortality by up to 23 per cent.

The Canadian study tracked eating patterns and death rates across 18 countries.

Do Recent US Naval Disasters Confirm Russia's Electronic Weapons Claims

Two recent collisions in the South China Sea involving US warships and merchant vessels operating legitimately in the area have led to the US Navy cancelling all operations and standing down its fleet. What could have caused such a dramatic action, you might well ask. We wish we had a definitive answer but governments tend to remain tight lipped on such embarrassing stories.

When the USS John S McCain limped into Singapore, holed on the waterline after colliding with a tanker however, we were reminded of a story that resurfaced concerning a strange incident in 2014 involving a United States warship.

The most disturbing part of this story for US military strategy was not the fact that ten American sailors were lost, although that is what grabbed the headlines. More sinister was that the incident came only two months after the US Destroyer The Fitzgerald collided with a cargo ship off Japan, with seven deaths resulting from the accident. And in May 2017 the cruiser Lake Champlain crashed into a South Korean fishing boat, fortunately no lives were lost on that occasion.

So what is going on. US Navy ships should have the most advanced naval technology in the world - apart from the British Navy of course :-) - and ought to have been aware of other vessels in the area in ample time to take evasive action.

According to a report first published in 2014, the USS Donald Cook experienced a total failure of its electronics systems, disabling weapons, tracking technology and navigation equipment after being buzzed by two Russian air force Sukhoi Su24 aircraft. Now the Su24 is an old design and by today's standards not a sophisticated warplane. According to Russian sources however, the attack jets carry electronic weapons that can cripple the US Navy's missile defence system.

Russia-1 television's Vesti programme claimed an electronic warfare device called "Khibiny" was used by a Russian pilot to completely deactivate the defence systems of the USS Donald Cook in a 2014 encounter in the Black Sea. In the past this blog has reported that we learned from an Iranian nuclear scientist who is a friend of one of our contributors that Iran had jointly developed with Russia and China, a range of Electronic Weapons based on technologies first proposed by the scientist Nikolai Tesla, after whom the Tesla car company was named, whose work was sidelined in the west because of the threat it posed to commercial interests.

Reports coming out of the weapons and military technology industry more recently have suggested there was substance to that claim.

The US' Aegis system, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, and carried by most modern American ships, is designed to protect a fleet against attacks by aircraft, and cruise and ballistic missiles. Other systems are in place to protect ships against less sophisticated weapons such as a boat pack with explosives being set on course to ram them.

But the Vesti broadcast (on Russian state controlled TV it should be noted) claimed the pilot of a Sukhoi Su-24 jet was able to deactivate "the whole ship's systems" with "powerful radio-electronic waves" during the fly-by incident three years ago, around the time of Russia's annexation of Crimea.

"You don't need to have expensive weapons to win [a war], powerful radio-electronic jamming is enough," the report concluded. At the time this was dismissed as kremlin propaganda in response to Obama's boasts about US technical superiority.

At the time the US military confirmed the Donald Cook, a guided missile destroyer, had encountered a pair of Su-24s that repeatedly flew near it in the Black Sea. But a spokesman, Army Col Steve Warren, said then: "The Donald Cook is more than capable of defending itself against two Su-24s."

Both President Donald Trump and his Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, have hinted that relations between the countries hitting a low point may be in some way connected to these incidents.

During a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, earlier this month, Tillerson said the world’s "two foremost nuclear powers cannot have this kind of relationship".

And before an off-camera meeting with Tillerson, Russia's President Vladimir Putin commented in an interview that "one could say that the level of trust on a working level, especially on the military level, has not improved, but rather has deteriorated".
