Former NATO Boss Explains Why US Did Not Oppose ISIS 'With Extreme Prejudice'

Gen Wesley Clark (image source)

Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, General Wesley Clark, now retired from the US Army opened up in an interview with CNN to reveal that the Islamic State (Daesh, ISIS, ISIL, those crazy ragheads ...) and the Islamic (Sunni) Caliphate they want to establish is strategically imperative to Sunni Muslim regional powers Turkey and Saudi Arabia, as they try to economically isolate Shi’a ruled nations, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. He explained that neither Turkey nor Saudi Arabia want an Iran-Iraq-Syria-Lebanon ‘bridge’ that separate Turkey, from Saudi Arabia and the gulf states.

Let’s be very clear: ISIS is not just a terrorist organization; it is a Sunni terrorist organization. That means it blocks and targets Shi’a. And that means it’s serving the interests of Turkey and Saudi Arabia — even as it poses a threat to them.” — Retired Gen. Wesley Clark

Asked if Russian President Vladimir Putin’s accusation that Turkey was “aiding ISIS” had any validity, Clark answered:

“All along there’s always been the idea that Turkey was supporting ISIS in some way. We know they’ve funneled people going through Turkey to ISIS. Someone’s buying that oil that ISIS is selling; it’s going through somewhere — it looks to me like it’s probably going through Turkey — but the Turks haven’t acknowledged that.” (Video of the Wesley Clarke interview)

After explaining how Turkey provides a conduit for the Islamic State’s oil, Clark pointed out that Putin’s allegations about Turkey’s support for terrorist organization, ISIS, are somewhat hypocritical. Russia, of course, has been propping up the Assad regime in Syria against rebel groups that were being armed and trained by the U.S. government for which the overthrow of Assad was part of a long term agenda aimed as helping US Ally Saudi Arabia become the main regional power in the middle east. U.S. officials deny that that overthowing Assad has been its primary objective in the region, but leaked emails and information form whistleblowers and intelligence sources in Europe say otherwise.

As Clarke said in his closing remarks, there are no good guys in this conflict.

ISIS: Know Your Enemy - Who Of Those We Think Are On Our Side Is Helping ISIS

Who is funding ISIS, how has the terror group managed to assemble such a large, well equipped and (apparently) well fed fighting force and been able to wage a two year war against the Assad regime in Syria, the forces of the autonomous Kurds and the army of the Iraqi government, such as it is? Who is facilitating their illegal oil trade that is keeping Islamic State afloat.

To Join Obama's Proxy War Against Russia In Syria Would Be Cameron's Greatest Folly

A look at our prospects should tway - boy Cameron succeed in obtaining parliament's approval for his wish to join Obama's coalition ofg dodgy political opportunists in their attempt to overthrow Syria's President Assad. Given that Putin has said many times, Assad stays, our outdated war planes don't stand an ice cube in hell's chance against Russian S34s and Growler Surface to Air missiules (SAMs). And that's without factoring in China's pledge to support it's allies Putin and Assad.
