The headline making news from Ukraine this week was the destruction of a US made Abrams M1 Tank, hyped as an invincible front line weapon and a game changer in the was between Ukraine and Russia, was destroyed only days after entering service.
Picture: Daily Mail. It is not known if this is the actual tank destroyed by the drone because information from both sides in bthe war has always been unreliable.
Details of how the 73 ton juggernaut, which cost US taxpayers about $10 million when support costs are factored in,) was wrecked revealed in an interview with the commander of Russia’s 15th Guards “Alexandria” Brigade, the unit that destroyed the US-made tank, one of a batch of 31 given by the Biden Administration to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The commander, identified only by his callsign “Kolovrat,” claimed that information about the Abrams tank being used close to the front line first appeared on February 19.
The commander disclosed that the weapon which destroyed the supposedly indestructible tank was a low-cost Piranha FPV drone manufactured in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk and equipped with a PG-7L high-explosive anti-tank rocket. The drone had also been slightly modified by the front-line troops, Kolovrat claimed.
Commenting om his men’s feelings upon learning that they had successfully taken out their first Abrams, Kolovrat said he was proud of his unit and that he believed it was crucial that individuals who were “doing different things in their civilian lives” be able to cooperate so effectively and achieve such an amazing feat.
Asked what he would like to say to the American taxpayers who funded the construction of this ruined tank, Kolovrat stated that he hopes they will see how the Abrams wreck is restored so that Russian kids can play on it and “trample this American foe.”
Regarding his and his men’s future intentions, the leader assured them that this triumph would be “far from the last.”
