US Government Uses Orlando Shooting To Justify More Surveillance Of Citizens

Members of the US Congress have seized the Orlando gay club mass shooting to advance proposals for expanding the surveillance of US citizens by the federal government and intelligence community. Power to carry out warrantless surveillance will be increased in the wake of the massacre according to news agencies.

Julian Sanchez, a senior fellow at the CATO Institute, describes the new provisions as "an expansion of the power of surveillance and to demand the surrender of confidential records, which are tool traditionally used by to get a wide variety of financial or telecommunications records." He notes a pattern by the bureau of pushing the limits on what information it is allowed to gather.

"Some years ago, the FBI was basically told that their interpretation (of their ability to solicit) any kind of any electronic transaction record was too broad," and that, "it wasn’t to be used in an unlimited way to get any kind of digital transaction record…for that they would need to go to FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance ACT) court for those more detailed records."

NSA whistleblower William Binney comments that he feels the use of NSLs is "basically unconstitutional, especially when it comes to the gag order, and, of course, gathering data on US citizens. The gag order has already been ruled by a federal district court judge as a violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution. In this case they’re basically scrapping the Constitution. I personally call that treason against the founding principles of this nation."

Binnney is worried about the proposed bill and the potential impact its use of technology to ibvade personal privacy could have on the civil liberties of Americans.

Sanchez said, "What’s striking is there’s almost always no real relation between the emotional event and the policy. Usually it’s something that they’ve wanted since long before the event happened," he said. "in this case, this national security letter power is something the FBI has been asking for, for over five years, and in fact the legislation was introduced well before the Orlando shooting, so it’s certainly not a response to that shooting, but they’re quick to invoke the Orlando shooting as a reason to support it."

He added that in the case of Omar Mateen, the Orlando shooter, "it’s very clear that (expanded NSL powers) wouldn’t have made a difference. The Orlando shooter, years earlier, for unrelated reasons, had been investigated by the FBI. They reviewed his transactional records as part of that investigation. The fact was, when they investigated him, they simply didn’t have any evidence to show that he was likely to do something like this, years down the line."

Sanchez claimed that the shooting is being exploited by the federal government to broaden existing powers.

"The truth is, they have the ability to get these types of records when they’re conducting these investigations, they just need to go to a judge. So this isn’t about giving them the ability to get information as part of legitimate investigations. It’s about whether they get to circumvent the requirement to show some kind of minimal evidence to a judge to justify it, he said."

Whining Brexit 'REMAIN' Supporters Too Dumb To Know They Were Duped Into Supporting Megarich Capitalists

After being thorougly nauseated by the emotionally needy whining of pitiable nonentities who are too fearful to think for themselves and are now jumping on memes about how ashamed they are to be English because we did something so 'zenophobic' and isolationist. So I thought it was time to show them who loses by our voting out, who their remain votes were really supporting (and it wasn't 'the poor', 'the vulnerable' or us ordinary punters.

Here's an article which shows who was really hit financially by the UK referendum on European Union membership being won by those who wanted to LEAVE. The reason all those billionaires (most of whom don't live in Britain but in tax havens) wanted us to stay in is their businesses profits rely on revenue from government contracts, the reason all those celebs like Bendydick Cumbertwat and Ricky Jarvis (who both spend most of their time in the USA) wanted us to stay in was that they get paid for promoting businesses that collaborate with EU, NATO, United Nations and USA government agencies. Tak a look at this:

The Real Brexit "Catastrophe": World's 400 Richest People Lose $127 Billion

For all the scaremongering and threats of an imminent financial apocalypse should Brexit win, including dire forecasts from the likes of George Soros, the Bank of England, David Cameron (who even invoked war), and even Jacob Rothschild, something "unexpected" happened yesterday: the UK was the best performing European market following the Brexit outcome.

This outcome was just as we expected three days ago for reasons that we penned in "Is Soros Wrong", where we said "in a world in which central banks rush to devalue their currency at any means necessary just to gain a modest competitive advantage in global trade wars, a GBP collapse is precisely what the BOE should want, if it means kickstarting the UK economy."
On Friday, the market started to price it in too, and in the process revealed that the biggest sovereign losers from Brexit will not be the UK but Europe.

And you will notice in the graphics on the site the British stock market is doing better than the rest of Europe, and the £ only dropped in line with the Euro.

As this blog has always said, the EU only ever benefitted the rich and powerful and corporate business. All those emotionally crippled losers who believe in caring, sharing multiculturalsim are just examples of  Dear Old Uncle Joe Stalin's 'useful idiots', easily manpiulated and as predictable as Pavlovs Dogs.

Is Brexit A Harbinger Of Doom For The 'Experts'
The Brexit vote, the decision by a democratic majority in Britain to leave the European Union has sent shockwaves around the world. Not only does the EU now face a tsunami of departures, the usurpation of democracy by 'experts' ( technocrats ) has been challenged and exposed as a sham.
