USA, EU and Turkey are not going to like this Greece /Russia deal
It is common knowledge that Greece is on the way out of the EU. Though the bureaucrats of Brussels, increasingly paranoid about EU member states that challenge their authority will try to bully Greece into staying, the Greeks have a new best mate in Russia. It is logical therefore that as Turkey's increasingly unstable Prsident Erdogan continues to provoke Russia in any way he can, Members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Greek administrative region of Evros are floating proposals of trade ties with Russia and could offer their port city Alexandroupolis as an alternative route for Russian cargo to bypass the Bsophorous and Dardinelles, the narro straits that are the only route to the Mediterranean Sea from Russia's posts on The Black Sea.
“We could work together in different areas, taking into account that the city is home to one of the largest ports that allows to bypass Bosphorus and the Dardanelles,” Evangelos Lambakis, the mayor of Alexandroupoli, told the press. Alexandroupoli is the capital city of the Evros regional unit.
Professor Valentin Katasonov believes that this initiative could grow into a larger partnership, since Turkey severely damaged relations with Russia not just by downing a Russian bomber over Syria but because of its illegal oil trade and arms trafficking with ISIS.
“We indeed need access to the Mediterranean Sea bypassing Bosphorus and the Dardanelles, [the narrow straits that separate mainland Turkey from the Turkish enclave in Europe in which Istanbul is situated.] There is another alternative – a channel through Iran. This project, first conceived approximately a century ago, is now also on the agenda,” Katasonov said.
Russia has always feared, should hostilities break out with Turkey, the Turks would simply scupper ships in the Bosphorus and Dardinelles, blocking Russia's main trade routes.
Although Greece’s offer could help Russia bolster the security of its shipments, not all risks will be eliminated.“Not all transit countries are friendly towards Russia. We need to take into account risks that our land transportation could face. Land shipping does not require massive investment, so this is a viable option,” he added.Should Evros proceed with this initiative, it will have to abide by this commitment due to the tough economic environment Greece is dealing with, Katasonov emphasized.
NATO and the West will not be happy with the move. However, there is no alternative for Greece. Last summer the Greek government inked three-year deals with the IMF and the European Union, but the situation will heat up in mid-2016 (as I told you in another post, a major banking crisis is expected in Italy before the end of June. The issues that were discussed in 2015, like Grexit, will resurface.

EU Enlargement Commissioner Accuses Russia Of Flooding Europe With Migrants
The place where Finland, Norway and Russia meet, note the swarms of refugees crossing from Russia into Europe (image source)
Did you know the EU had an Englargement Commissioner, in fact do most Europeans know the EU has massive plans to enlarge Europe into Africa and the middle east. More on that down the page, but I'm sure it will come as a surpise to this blog's French, German and Polish regular readers and the visitors we get less regularly from all around the EU, just as it will to our loyal following in Russia, British readers and many of our American friends who like to follow the breakdown of civilization as it is progressing all around the globe..
We have learned that The European Union’s (EU) Enlargement Commissioner has claimed Russia is working to destabilize the continent by flooding it with migrants from Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. This suggests the Englargement Commissioner is one of those nutty bureaucrats who has been busy trying to think of ways to demonize Russia in the hope of eroding EU members opposition to the all out war the USA, Turkey and Saudi Arabia have been pushing for, and this is the best he could come up with.
Speaking in an interview with Germany’s Zeit, EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn articulated his view that it was “no coincidence” that refugees were suddenly appearing on Europe’s northern borders from the Russian Federation, and hinted at a hidden plan to destroy Europe.
Mr. Hahn, who has the responsibility of extending the Europeann Union into the middle east, Africa and central Asia (what could be considered the Russian sphere of influence,) told a pres conferences: “We have observed in northern Europe a new phenomenon. More and more refugees [are coming] from Russia to Finland and Norway”.
Despite acknowledging the actual volume of refugees arriving from Russia was insignificant, Mr. Hahn said he suspected a conspiracy where refugees from central Asia were being used unwittingly to further political goals. He explained: “The numbers are not so high. Disturbingly, however, are the political signals that stand behind it. It is no coincidence this happening now”.
This man truly has taken leave of his senses. Does he know how cold it gets at this time of year on Norway's bordr with Russia, which is waaayyy above the arctic circle.
Mr. Hahn said these particular refugees, Tajiks and Turkmens, had lived in Russia for many years but were suddenly being passed on now, and they had probably received assistance to make it to the Norwegian and Finnish borders. When asked by the paper whether he was indeed inferring that Russia was deliberately dumping migrants on Europe to exacerbate the migrant crisis, Mr. Hahn said “it is striking that this should happen just at the moment where the EU is already under severe pressure" (from the numbers of illrgal immigrants arriving)..
Despite Mr. Hahn’s claims, Norway is not a member of the European Union, even though it is of the Schengen free-travel zone. Russia however is not part of the open borders arrangement and is rather strict about who passes in and out of its territory. The entire notion is idiotic, particularly when EU bureaucrats refuse to condemn Turkey for flooding the EU with migrants while simultaneously trying to blackmail Brussels for cash in return for help in controlling the flow of immigrants.
Apparently pre-empting the EU commissioner’s comments, Russian ambassador to the European Union Vladimir Chizov spoke in an interview with Euractive and denied the suggestion that Russia wanted to see the EU weakened.
Responding to the accusation that Russia was clandestinely campaigning for Britain to leave the EU, and thus see the continental power bloc less potent he remarked: “No. I wonder why people think that Russia would want to destabilise the EU, or to break it up. That has never been the aim of Russian foreign policy.
While we do not entirely accept that Russia has no interest in the destabilizing effect of a British exit on the EU, there is no evidence to suggest that The Kremlin is pursuing a strategy aimed at encouraging a 'Leave' vote. The EU will do more than enough to encourage UK voters to vote out, the only danger is that the scaremongering of Cameron and his cronies will prompt the faint hearted to cling to the devil they know.

Migrants Mass At Greek Border Waiting To Cross Into Europe
An estimated 6,500 undocumented travellers were assembled at the Idomeni camp on Greece’s northern border with Macedonia on Saturday according to news feeds, after four Balkan countries announced a daily cap on migrant arrivals. The log jam began after Macedonia began refusing entry to Afghans and imposed stricter document controls on Syrians and Iraqis, slowing the passage of migrants and refugees to a trickle.
