Watching the news feeds, we see The United States has blocked attempts by its alleged Middle East allies to fly heavy weapons directly to the Kurds fighting the Islamic State jihad in Iraq.
FUKUS axis allies in the middle east say President Barack Obama and other Western leaders, including David Cameron and Francois Hollande are failing to show leadership over the growing threat posed by the advance of Islamic extremism.
They now say they are willing to act independently of the western powers in supplying weapons to the Kurds, even if means defying the Iraqi authorities and their American backers, who demand all weapons be channelled through Baghdad.
Meanwhile the UK defence secretary has paved the way for air strikes on Islamic State targets in Syria. Addressing the House of Commons, Michael Fallon said the terrorists needed to be targeted "at source". Fallon pledged there would be no action taken without a Commons vote and a "consensus" among MPs.
The UK does not need the backing of MPs to launch raids but Mr Fallon has said they will have the final say. Labour has indicated it would not block military action in Syria as it did in 2013.’
Having said that of course, while Mr. Fallon's committment to democratic principles is fine and noble, what finally happens in Syria depends very much on what a certain rather short gentleman in Moscow has to say on the matter.
