Extremist groups in revenge killing, sectarian genocide in HTS-controlled Syria

 

Heavily armed militias representing various sectarian, political and tribal groups are on the rampage across Syria carrying out executions of civilians and soldiers, raping and looting amid the chaos following the fall of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad's government.

Al Mayadeen reports on 10 December that a video going viral on social media shows armed militants from USA and NATO backed Hayat Tahrir al-Sham - HTS (the good guys according to western media and military intellligence agencies ), the Al-Qaeda offshoot that took control of Damascus on Saturday, were seen carrying out summary executions of unarmed men in the village of Al-Rabia in the countryside of Latakia.

The militants referred to the men as ‘Shabiha’, a derogatory term long used to describe pro-government Syrian soldiers and civilians.

HTS military operations administration reported ongoing clashes in Al-Rabia, including the encirclement of a group of officers inside a fortified farm in the village, Al Mayadeen stated.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Tuesday that, according to its sources, the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) carried out executions and assaulted properties of nearly 30,000 Kurdish families in Manbij City. Other sorces have also reported Turkish military operations targeting Kurdish civilians

In the Nawaha and Al-Asadiya neighborhoods, Turkish backed SNA militants burned houses of civilians, stole property, and executed at least three people, including a woman, SOHR added.

On Monday, ISIS militants killed 54 Syrian army soldiers who were fleeing an attack by the terror group in the central province of Homs.

ISIS militants captured “personnel fleeing military service in the desert ... during the collapse of the regime” of president Bashar al-Assad and "executed 54" of them in the Sukhna area in the Homs desert, SOHR stated.

Syrian sources reported the assassination on Tuesday of Sheikh Tawfiq al-Bouti by unknown attackers.

Middle East Eye reports The US government is scrambling to contain a Turkish-backed offensive targeting the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Syria following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Washington was reportedly caught off guard by the rapid overthrow of Assad by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-aligned forces, which occurred in just 11 days. Reports suggest that US officials had been attempting to negotiate a deal with Assad that would have normalized his position in exchange for severing ties with Hezbollah and Iran. Other reports have suggested Russian agents advised Assad to flee, having warned him that he could not win the fourteen year old civil war in his country.

The US has expressed concern over Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) operations targeting the SDF, a US partner force.

These operations have resulted in the seizure of areas including Tal Rifaat and Manbij, which had been under SDF control earlier this month. By securing Tal Rifaat and Manbij, Turkey has solidified its control over key areas west of the Euphrates, creating a buffer zone along its borders. 

Following the capture of Manbij, the SNA crossed the Euphrates River and seized the Tomb of Suleyman Shah, a site of significant historical and cultural importance linked to the Ottoman Empire. The move triggered an outrcy from the SDF, raising concerns that the front would move towards the heavily populated city of Kobane. 

Turkey has long regarded the SDF as an affiliate of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), despite its rebranding and its partnership with the US in the fight against the Islamic State in Syria (ISIS).

Islamic State (also known as IS, ISIS, ISIL, or its Arabic acronym Da’esh) is a transnational jihadist group that gained global prominence in 2014, when it conquered large swathes of territory in Syria and Iraq and proclaimed a caliphate.

After protracted fighting with Syrian rebel groups and foreign forces, including the U.S., IS was defeated territorially in 2019, though the group is still active with its main strength concentrated in the sparsely populated east of the country.

The power vacuum in Syria following the fall of Assad’s regime is viewed by some observers as an opportunity for ISIS to reassert itself. The U.S. has carried out dozens of airstrikes at ISIS targets in Syria in recent days but like HTS, ISIS are well organised and well armed with weapons supplied by the US and NATO to Ukraine and sold on to middle eastern terrorist groups by members of Zelenskyyyy's gangster regime.

Goodbye To The Biggest Threat To World Peace Since Genghis Khan

While 'liberals'  ( i.e sycophants and fans of corporate capitalism and perpetual war) in the USA wail and gnash their teeth over the end of the Obama era and the succession of Donald Trump to the US  Presidency, and while the totally discredited mainstream media tries to peddle the lie that the whole world is in shock at the thought that the greatest president ever (and the greatest human being that ever lived according to some) will no longer be giuding the world to a golden future of corporate fascism, globalist tyranny and Gay BLT ascendency, the reality is that a majority of Americans who understand there are more important issues than Gay BLT rights will be joined by the rest of the world in celebrating the departure of Barack Hussein Obama from The White House and the international stage.

There's a story doing the rounds that Obama has ordered a life sized statue of himself to be placed in the lobby of The White House to remind visitors what a great leader he has been. It's probably a hoax, but the vanity Obama has shown over the years make it believable.

Obama may babble his own praises in media interviews, but by talking of what his legacy will be he only underlines the vanity, arrogance, narcissism and  infantile self obsession that have defined him as a president and as a man. When George W Bush, on leaving The White House, was asked what his legacy would be, that much maligned person showed more class in one sentence that Obama and his 'liberal' fan club could ever muster in eight long years by replying that he would leave the question to be answered by history. 

This blog does not need to remind Americans of the economic and social catastrophe's caused by Obama's domestic policies. Internationally the Obama years brought failure to either prosecute the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan successfully or withdraw without loss of face. Other foreign policy triumphs for the Obama administration were The Arab Spring, Benghazi, ISIS, civil war in Syria, civil war in Ukraine and the Iran nuclear deal and US military engagement in 70 nations around the world. The so called 'free trade' deals, TPP and TTIP, Obama's flagship foreign initiatives which were really not free trade deals but an attempt to steal national sovereignty from trading partners of the USA and give global corporations the ability to override national law, both failed embarrassingly.   And right at the end of his presidency, Barack Obama has committed the greatest betrayal of Israel in U.S. history and has brought us dangerously close to war with Russia.

It is not just the consistency in his track record of failure that truly damn Obama, but his arrogance and unshakeable belief that his tragedies are triumps and his failures are achievements. There was that unforgettable moment late in 2015 when after Russian and Iranianintervention had broken Islamic State power in eastern and northern Syria and put the terrorists on the backfoot after US efforts had for three years proved totally ineffectual, Obama still felt justified in praising himself for having delivered peace and stability to Syria in 2015.  

Obama and his cronies and supporters are in a great deal of distress that much of the hard work towards advancing gay rights, legitimizing illegal immigrants and undermining the police and the rle of law particularly in black areas of cities  over the past eight years is about to be undone by Donald Trump.  On Wednesday, The Obama Administration's serial child molester and Creepy VeePee, Senator  'Crazy Joe Biden' Joe Biden warned the elitists gathered at the World Economic Forum in Davos that their “liberal world order” is in danger of collapsing…

Vice President Joe Biden delivered an epic final speech Wednesday to the elites at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The gist of his speech was simple: At a time of “uncertainty” we must double down on the values that made Western democracies great, and not allow the “liberal world order” to be torn apart by destructive forces.

And without a doubt, we definitely want it to collapse.

During his time in the White House, Barack Obama has used the full diplomatic power of the government to promote “abortion rights”, “gay rights” and other “liberal values” to the farthest corners of the globe.  At home, the appointment of two new and stridently left wing  Supreme Court justices politicised that august body and paved the way for a Supreme Court decision that forced all 50 states to recognize gay marriage.  During his final press conference on Wednesday, Barack Obama told the media that he was particularly proud of this although it had been one of the most divisive political acts ever and actually turned black Christians, who had previously been solidly behind Obama, against the Democrats.

Somehow America has survived as a nation in spite of Obama eight years of trying to prepare citizens for a handover of sovereignty to a world government, but without a doubt a massive amount of damage has been done. Has the USA been so deeply and bitterly divided it will prove ungovernable? Will the world capital of crazy, California, secede and give all those spaced out dopehead, smackhead and acid head hippys a chance to sample the realities of world politics?

Many are hoping that Donald Trump will be able to start repairing that damage and will work hard to set the USA and the democratic world on a positive course once again.

It still doesn’t seem quite real to me that Donald Trump will soon be residing in the White House. And people who are expecting miracles under Trump are likely to be disappointed as those who expected the world to fall in behand Obama's hippy - dippy, all - join - hand - and - sing - Kumbaya brand of policymaking, but it will be nice to have a man who has run real businesses in the Oval Office instead of a girlie - man who, were his CV uncharacteristically honest, would list ice cream slinger, male prostitute, community organiser (whatever that means) and holder of several sinecures in academic institutions as his previous experience.

Situation In Syria Is Now Beyond Critical

You would have to have been living on another planet to fail to have noticed that while we have been away having our annual jolly in Majorca, the situation in Syria has deteriorated swiftly after the breakdown of a ceasefire agreed by the USA and Russia which lasted barely a week. All sides involved in the conflict blamed each other for breaking the ceasefire from day one but it was clear all bets were off when U.S. forces bombed Syrian government forces, killing at least 62.

CNN reported:

Hours after US-led coalition airstrikes reportedly killed dozens of Syrian troops, the US and Russian ambassadors to the United Nations chastised each other outside an emergency Security Council meeting.

The strike occurred Saturday in an eastern part of Syria that is not a part of a delicate and nearly week-old ceasefire. The US military said it was targeting ISIS militants and if it hit Syrian troops, it was an accident.

Russia and Syria said the strikes prove Washington and its allies are sympathetic to ISIS.

The Russian military said 62 Syrian soldiers were killed near Deir Ezzor Airport, according to state media. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights put the death toll at 83 and said at least 120 soldiers were wounded.

After this, Syrian government forces launched an attack on the city of Aleppo, in which the last hospital still operating in the rebel held sector of the city was hit, prompting outrage from US officials.

Reuters reports:

Obama administration officials have begun considering tougher responses to the Russian-backed Syrian government assault on Aleppo, including military options, as rising tensions with Moscow diminish hopes for diplomatic solutions from the Middle East to Ukraine and cyberspace, U.S. officials said on Wednesday.

The new discussions were being held at “staff level,” and have yet to produce any recommendations to President Barack Obama, who has resisted ordering military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the country’s multisided civil war.

But the deliberations coincide with Secretary of State John Kerry threatening to halt diplomacy with Russia on Syria and holding Moscow responsible for dropping incendiary bombs on rebel areas of Aleppo, Syria’s largest city. It was the stiffest U.S. warning to the Russians since the Sept. 19 collapse of a truce they jointly brokered.

But the heavy use of Russian airpower in Syria has compounded U.S. distrust of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s geopolitical intentions, not only in the 5-1/2 year civil war, but also in the Ukraine conflict and in what U.S. officials say are Russian-backed cyber attacks on U.S. political targets.

The U.S. officials said the failure of diplomacy in Syria has left the Obama administration no choice but to consider alternatives, most of which involve some use of force and have been examined before but held in abeyance.

These include allowing Gulf allies to supply rebels with more sophisticated weaponry, something considered more likely despite Washington’s opposition to this until now. Another is a U.S. air strike on an Assad air base, viewed as less likely because of the potential for causing Russian casualties, the officials told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.

And now we have the latest escalation as Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov openly accuses the USA of aiding and supporting Al Nusra, thus indicating Russia's belief that the Obama Administration has no interest in neutralising the terrorists of ISIS and is only concerned with overthrowing the Assad regime in Damascus.

If the US launches a military campaign to oust the Syrian government, it would further fracture the country and have tremendous negative long-term consequence for the entire region, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova warned.

"If the US launches a direct aggression against Damascus and the Syrian Army, it would cause a terrible, tectonic shift not only in the country, but in the entire region," Zakharova said during a talk show broadcast Saturday 1 October.

With no government in Damascus, there will be a power vacuum in Syria, which Obama's notorious moderate rebels (the head amputators and human organ noshers of Sunni Muslim extremist cults who only (very moderately it must be said) torture and murder Christians, Jews and people who are simply the wrong sort of Muslim or even the right sort but just not extreme enough. In reality this rag bag army of nutters, criminals and fanatics are not moderate at all but terrorists of all flavors. Should Assad be removed as the USA wishes, these headcases would fill the vacuum in exactly the same way as they have in Libya which under Gadaffi was Africa's most prosperous and socially advanced nation and is now a failed state. There is no way dealing reasonably with such people.

A similar thing happened in Iraq, where [Saddam Hussein’s] Iraqi Army became the basis of the Islamic State. Everything that both the [US-led] coalition and Russia are fighting now stems from that particular foreign policy cock up, Zakharova said.

Now as the fighting escalates once more, the US says Moscow did not do enough to win the trust of rebel forces and to prevent the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad from attacking his opponents. Russia says Washington invented the ‘moderate rebels’ myth to give a veneer of respectability to its attempt to effect regime change in Syria, putting in place a puppet regime that would serve US and Saudi Arabian political and economic interests.

If full fledged war breaks out with Russia, it’s very likely to begin in Syria. The only good news here is I doubt Obama will begin any major escalation with only a few months left in his Presidency.
The bad news is that if Hillary Clinton is elected President, all hell is likely to break loose in short order.

MPs attack Cameron over Libya 'collapse'

Not before time Britain's politicians are asking for justification of our role in the bombing campaign againsyt the regime of colonel Gadaffi in Libya, which since 2011 has led to that country, at the time the most prosperous and advanced nation in Africa, becoming a chaotic failed state with three different groups all claiming to be the legitimate government.
 
David Cameron's partners in crime be Presisent Nicolas Sarkozy of France, and inevitably the warmonger in chief, United states President barack Hussin Obama. The British parliament can only hold Cameron to account of course, but it is good to know that ion the wake of the brexit vote or elected representatives are starting to behave as a democratically elected national assembly should, and not as a wholly owned subsidiary of the USA and EU.
 
According to the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee the then PM David Cameron lacked a coherent strategy for the air campaign. The intervention had not been "informed by accurate intelligence", and that it led to the rise of so-called Islamic State in North Africa, the report commented.
 
The UK government said it had been an international decision to intervene but in fact Britain and France were bullied into joining a US led (the FUKUS axis) regime change operation after Libyan leader Gadaffi defied the US ally Saudi Arabia. The action was called for by the Arab League and authorised by a trumped up UN Security Council resolution after the USA had miseld Russia and China on the nature of the operation, claiming it was necessary for humanitarian reasons, when in fact it was an act of war against Libya.
 
The coalition, fronted  by Britain and France with Obama 'leading from behind' launched a campaign of air and missile strikes against Muammar Gadaffi's forces in March 2011 after the regime threatened to attack the rebel-held city of Benghazi. But after Gadaffi was toppled, Libya descended into violence, with rival governments and the formation of hundreds of militias, while so-called Islamic State, also known as Isil and Daesh, has also gained a foothold and now holds territory in Libya's unpopulated but oil rich south.

Washington's Global Hegemony Dream Is Fading Fast

Donald Trump's claim that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are somehow responsible for founding” and ISIS had mainstream media getting their collective knickers in a right old twist a few days ago. True to form, the media reaction was to screech in horror at Trump's disrespect for such unimpeachable (at least while Obama is in The White House) characters.

At the time of writing no American media source has brought up in Trump’s defence the August 2012 report (declassified and released in 2015 under a FOIA request from Judicial Watch) from the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) stating that “there is the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principality in Eastern Syria, and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime.” 

The “supporting powers” are identified as “western countries” (led  no doubt by the group we usually refer to as The FUKUS axis, France, The United Kingdom and The United States); “the Gulf States” (presumably Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, you can count on Iran not being in the mix), and Turkey.

The Secretary of State at the time that report was published? None other than neo - con warmonger Hillary Rodham Clinton. The President was another neo - con warmonger masquerading as a 'liberal', Barack Hussein Obama.

The DIA report said, in essence, that if the U.S. its allies aided al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other such 'progressive liberal' friends of democracy and gay rights ( heavy sarcasm alert), something really nasty would emerge in eastern Syria. Several months later, it did, when ISIS declared itself the new Islamic Caliphate, straddling territory on both sides of the Syria-Iraq border.

Most of us learn the concept of causation in childhood. “Johnny, if you keep doing that, you’ll [break it, hurt yourself, whatever].” Not politicians and particularly American Democratic Party politicians it seems, they just do not learn from istakes. Mainstream media would have us think that Obama is a highly intelligent, profoundly wise super - being and Hillary Clinton's "vast experience in politics" (i.e. being married to a political hustler) qualifies them for deification. In fact they  are less intelligent than three-year-olds . By throwing money at terrorists (only the moderate head-amputators and human organ noshers of course,) and supplying them with sophisticated weapons and 'military advivers' to demonstrate how to shoot the things, Obama and Clinon were utterly gobsmacked when the terrorists forgot about deposing Assad who had a well trained and equipped army, and started advancing through Iraq, where a US installed puppet government ruled.



Rudyard Kipling wrote in his poem "The Gods Of Copybook Headings":

 Aside from the example of the chaos Libya resulting from “regime change” in 2011, not to mention the appearance of al-Qaeda in the first place as a precipitate from the Afghan war against the Soviets, they had every reason to heed what amounted to a forewarning from DIA. Instead, they decided to press on, aware of the likely result. This was intended: “ . . . this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want.”

General Michael Flynn, currently a Trump adviser, took over as head of DIA a month before the issuance of the report in question. Whether it was his personal effort to caution the administration or simply the professional analysts in the DIA apparatus laying out the facts as they saw them, the 2012 report made no difference. As Flynn confirmed last year, this was not a matter of the administration’s turning a “blind eye” but of their “willful decision” that led to ISIS.

Certain people and certain businesses stand to profit greatly from war. Cruise missiles cost close to a million and a half dollars each. The air to ground missiles fired by strike aircraft are not exactly ten a penny either. And the defence contractors who make the components and assemble the final product all take a slice of that are all contributors to both the Democratic and Republican parties. And the banks that hold the contractors debts also hold treasury bonds. And if the donations dry up so do the political campaigns. No wonder war is so popular in Washington.

To say the playing field in this election campaign is tilted towards the establishment candidate Hillary Clinton is not simple understatement, it is deception. There is no playing field. In the festering corruption of US politics the establishment candidate is Hillary Clinton and Hillary's opponent, whoever it had been, had the task of climbing a veryical cliff with their hands and feet tied. Donald Trump is giving it a surprisingly good go, perhaps because whatever he may be, he is not a Republican Party appartchik. The real question of the 2016 election cycle however is whether the American public can see this great sham for what it is.

In the wake of the latest Islamic terrorist outrage in Nice, some state officials in France are warning that if the government does not act to suppress Islamic extremist and regain control of immigrant areas in the cities there will be civil war. The nice attack, in which a Tunisian born French citizen drove a twenty tonne truck into crowds celebration Bastille Day in the costal town of Nice, left over 80 dead and many seriously injured. U.S. Troops at Turkish Air Base on Highest Force Protection Level

Following the failed coup in Turkey on Friday night, the US embassy in Turkey says the Incirlik air base has been placed in lockdown. The base is used by the US-led coalition, including Germany, to launch airstrikes against "Islamic State."
 
A message on the website of the US consulate in Adana reported on Saturday that "local authorities were denying movements [onto] and off of Incirlik air base." According to Deutsche Welt the State Department advised US citizens to avoid the facility until normal operations could be restored.

The sealing-off of the facility, which houses up to 80 nuclear bombs, follows a a failed coup attempt by a faction within Turkey's military.

It is not yet clear whether aircraft from the base were hijacked by coup plotters during the night of chaos. According to Turkish government officials, US jets were used to attack key buildings, including the parliament building in Ankara.
A US Defense Department official told Agence France-Presse that military operations against Islamic State had been suspended due to the lockdown and a closure of Turkish airspace to military aircraft.

The base is used mostly by the US, Turkish, UK and Saudi air forces. Germany also has around 400 ground troops stationed at the facility.

Earlier this month, German MPs were prevented from visiting the base as Turkey's President Erdogan tried to exert pressure on Angela Merkel to speed up the Islamic nation's accession to the EU, a move which has strained relations between Berlin and Ankara.

Also on Saturday, the US State Department warned American citizens against taking part in pro-Erdogan demonstrations in the city of Adana, amid fears of violence. Adana is just 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the Incirlik air base.

As the French nation and the rest of the world tries to come to terms with yet another terrorist atrocity carried out in the French city and holiday resort of Nice, that has left many dead and an almost equal number seriously injured, we have learned from one of our Friends in France that a government committee looking into The Bataclan massacre, which happened late last year has heard testimony, suppressed by the French government and mainstream media, that the Islamic extremists who shot many people in the Bataclan concert venue tortured some of their victims at the club.

Police witnesses told the hearings they vomited when they saw the disfigured bodies.

The Wahhabist terrorists reportedly gouged out eyes, castrated male victims, and shoved their testicles in their mouths, while women were stabbed in their vaginas. Some captives were diembowelled while still alive. The hearing was told all the torture was videoed to be used as propaganda by Daesh or Islamic State. For that reason, medics did not release the bodies of torture victims to the families, investigators said.

But prosecutors, who appeared to be acting as apologists for Islamic terrorism tried to contend these reports of torture were merely "rumor", on the grounds, claiming that no sharp knives were found at the scene. They also claimed that maybe shrapnel had caused the injuries.

Here is a brief extract of an exchange between a prosecutor and a police officer (the whole exchange is reported in the French government transcript of the proceedings if you can read French):

Q. For the information of the Commission of Inquiry [...] can you tell us how you learned that there had been acts of barbarity within the Bataclan: beheadings, evisceration, eyes gouged out …?

Investigator: After the assault, we were with colleagues at the alleyway Saint-Pierre-Amelot when I saw one of our colleagues who came outside to vomit was weeping. He told us what he had seen.

Q. Acts of torture happened on the second floor?

Further on the investigator described how this was kept from relatives:

A. Bodies have not been presented to families because there were beheaded people there, the murdered people, people who have been disembowelled . There are women who had their genitals stabbed.

Q. All this would have been videotaped for Daesh !

A. I believe so. Survivors have said so.

At another point in the lengthy transcript, the investigator says women were sexually tortured, stabbed in the genitals, and their eyes were plucked out. People were decapitated.

The committee chief challenged the investigator on whether victims were decapitated or mutilated. He stated that the authorities reported victims were merely shot or blown up.

The President of the committee, M. President Georges Fenech said, "Indeed, the Committee is troubled by this information which has appeared nowhere [in the media]. Thus, the father of one of the victims sent me a copy of a letter he sent to the investigating judge, which I quote in summary: On the causes of the death of my son A., at the forensic institute in Paris, I was told, and what a shock it was for me at that moment, they had cut off his testicles, had put them in his mouth, and he was disemboweled. When I saw him behind glass, lying on a table, a white shroud covering it up to the neck, a psychologist was with me. He said: This is the only presentable part, your son’s left profile. I found that he had no right eye. I made the remark; I was informed that they had punctured his eye and sliced down the right side of his face, where there was a very large hematoma that we could all see."

A witness called to corroborate the statements heard from one of the BAC officials, that one of his investigators vomited immediately on leaving the Bataclan after finding a decapitation and evisceration confirmed he was aware of such facts?"

The prosecutor's pathetic reply that no sharp knife had been found at the scene that could have been used for torture. Perhaps shrapnel had caused the mutilation, he said. The head of the committee asked if an explosion would have placed testicles in a victim’s mouth.

The news follows reports that German police sat on the huge number of sexual assaults committed by Islamist migrants in Cologne, which a secret report estimated at thousands, not hundreds.

While we in New Media are reporting the truth of Islamic terrorists brutality and apparent pleasure in torturing and humiliating victims, we can only hope to shame mainstream media and even some politicians to stop aiding and abetting these barbaric terrorists. We are at war against an implacable enemy that hates western society, western values and anybody who does not accept their primitive, barbaric religion. It is time to stop making excuses for their brutality and cruelty. Multiculturalism has failed, time to admit it and reclaim our civilisation from the globalists who thought to complete the genocide of the white, European races.

Leaked Transcripts Prove ISIS-Turkey Link

Turkey had been widely criticized for not doing enough to assist in the fight against ISIS. In fact, we have published here a lot of evidence (some of it sourced from The Dark Web but a lot publicly available) to suggest that Ankara was cooperating with the group by ensuring funds through illegal oil trades and acting as a conduit for US supplied weapons. Turkey's links with ISIS are so undeniable and well documented now, even mainstream media have had to start reporting this news, even though it is embarrassing for NATO and western governments

An official familiar with a large cache of intelligence seized in a raid last summer told the Guardian that “direct dealings between Turkish officials and ranking ISIS members was now ‘undeniable.’” and that "the ISIS official responsible for oil smuggling was well known to Turkey". Also a former ISIS fighter told Newsweek last year that Turkey was allowing ISIS oil trucks from Raqqa to cross the “border, through Turkey and then back across the border to attack Syrian Kurds in the city of Serekaniye in northern Syria in February.” ISIS members, the source said, would freely travel through Turkey in a convoy of trucks, and stop “at safehouses along the way.”

From last summer Turkey, under international pressure and with public opinion at home turning against the Erdogan regime, seemingly forgot about the previous complicity when Erdogan granted the US access to Incirlik from which Washington was henceforth allowed to fly its half hearted combat missions which eventually frustrated Russian leader Vladimir Putin so much he ordered a Russian intervention from Syria after President Assad asked his allies for help. That, combined with Erdogan’s promise to step up the war on “terror,” was supposed to be "proof" of Turkey’s commitment to defeating ISIS although in fast Turkey's primary objective, like that of its allies USA and Sadui Arabia is the removal of Assad in Syria.

Despite numerous reports to suggest that Turkey wasn’t striking ISIS at all, but rather simply targeting the PKK (Kurdish rebel group with whom Turkey has been at war for years), the mainstream media generally stuck to the script that said Ankara had officially joined the war on Islamic State.

And then, in November, Vladimir Putin pushed Turkey’s cozy relationship with ISIS back into the spotlight following Ankara’s move to down a Russian warplane near the Syrian border. Since then, the world has begun to question whose side the Turks are really on, especially in light of the evidence Moscow has presented linking Erdogan to Islamic State’s illicit oil trade.

Eyebrows were also raised when Erdogan jailed several generals who dared to inspect a weapons-laden MiT trucks crossing the border with Syria.

This week, we get the latest evidence that Turkey is Islamic State’s number one state sponsor as Cumhuriyet released transcripts of phone calls that allegedly took place between Turkish military officers and Mustafa Demir, the ISIS commander on the Syria-Turkey border.

The transcripts are part of a court case on ISIS at the Ankara 3rd High Criminal Court. “The issues alleged in the case came to light because of an investigation launched following information given by six Turkish citizens whose relatives joined ISIL,” Today’s Zaman reports. “Upon the application by the relatives, monitoring of the communications of 19 people started, and a prosecutor named Derda Gökmen reportedly filed a claim against 27 suspects.”
