The Swing To The Right Is Really Business As Usual With A Different Label

All this week in mainstream media journalists, op - ed writers and editors have been working themselves into a frenzy about 'The Lurch To The Right' based on the success of centre - right parties (routinely dubbed 'Far Right' by hysterical mainstream media editors. Most of this move towards the right of the political spectrum is an illusion created by people so far left that think anyone less radical than 1970s Cambodian communist tyrant Pol Pot is a right wing extremist.

But has anything really changed?

How the political “spectrum” works:

Find what the oligarchs want and call it the “center”. This implies both balance and moderation. Thus an insane pudding of eugenics, depopulation, technocracy, transhumanism, neo-feudalism, globalism and occultism gets presented as “moderate” when in reality the “centrists” are the most “extreme”. Call everyone else “extreme”, “far” or “hard” which means in reality everyone who is nationalistic (“right”) or socialist of an anti-state/centralisation hue (“left”). Hence we find apparently strange bedfellows in the opposition which is useful to keep them divided. The genocide in Gaza just happened to play right into that division.

Perhaps there’s a need to revive the old authoritarian/libertarian axis as the much more meaningful “spectrum”. Globalism/localism would be virtually synonomous with it. The older division was briefly trendy in the Cold War (was it Eysenck who came up with it?) but was quietly retired when its job was done – that job being to bracket Soviet-style communism with nazism (and beneath the cynical propaganda they do indeed bracket together). The crucial proviso is that authoritarianism also applies to corporations which is why there are controlled libertarians out there who “gate-keep” to block this insight. Nothing is more authoritarian than monopoly capitalism which is why they are repeatedly to be found in bed with their nominal nazi and communist frenemies and every effort has to be made to conceal this fact (most clearly at Nuremburg were the funding of nazism by the Anglo-American elite was most definitely not on the agenda).

The new favourite label appears to be “hard” which they’ve clearly road-tested as currently the most scary. The “populist” one of recent years seems to have been retired – perhaps it was a little too close to “popular” and confused too many? Of course “populism” never meant anything other than “things people will keep voting for that the oligarchs don’t like”, hence why it never fitted into the left-right spectrum. How they spiked the original Populist movement in the USA in the late C19th becomes therefore very important to understand – especially how they parachuted in fake leaders like Teddy Roosevelt and the anti-trust momentum foundered on splitting the Standard Oil monopoly into nothing more than the Seven Sisters (note the occult astronomical reference) cartel which was essentially the same thing in different guise. Expect a plethora of fake decentralisation ideas in the next few years – see Monbiot’s recent column for an example – but when the rubber hits the road once again everyone in power will somehow turn out again to be as they were in 2020, marching in lockstep.

Many people would never dream of questioning authority; others see their interests as being served by supporting the abuse of authority, they are the ones who call the questioners 'conspiracy theorists'.
