Why IsGermany Committing Economic Suicide?

from The Vinyard of the Saker

Why is Germany committing harakiri (or seppuku)?

Because the Americans ordered them to do so!

Recently, William F. Engdahl wrote a very interesting article titled, “Europe’s Energy Armageddon From Berlin and Brussels, Not Moscow” which was re-worked in Pepe Escobar’s “Germany’s Energy Suicide: An Autopsy”.

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/57224.htm

https://www.unz.com/pescobar/germanys-energy-suicide-an-autopsy/

Both articles give a fascinating explanation of HOW Germany is committing suicide. Green Agenda 2030. The Great Reset. Etc.

I emailed Engdahl about the following statement that he wrote in his article and asked him, “What is the real reason for the complete deindustrialization of Germany? Besides the Green Energy or Great Reset bullshit.”:

It is not because politicians like Scholz or German Green Economy Minister Robert Habeck, nor EU Commission Green Energy Vice President Frans Timmermans are stupid or clueless. Corrupt and dishonest, maybe yes. They know exactly what they are doing. They are reading a script. It is all part of the EU plan to deindustrialize one of the most energy-efficient industrial concentrations on the planet. This is the UN Green Agenda 2030 otherwise known as Klaus Schwab’s Great Reset. [Bolded emphasis is mine.]

For whatever reasons, Engdahl didn’t reply to my email. But in my email to him, I basically answered my question when I asked the following:

Is it to emasculate Europe completely so as to make Europe completely dependent on the US for both energy and technology? The rest of the world is moving towards BRI and BRICS. The only block left to harvest aka rape and pillage for the Americans is Europe (plus Japan and South Korea).

That was September 5, 2022.

On September 16, 2022, RT (Russia Today) ran an article titled, “Elite US think tank dismisses EU plot report as ‘fake’” (https://www.rt.com/news/562911-rand-corp-ukraine-plot/):

The story of an alleged US plan to drain EU resources to prop up its economy was reported on Tuesday by Nya Dagbladet, a Swedish news outlet, which describes itself as anti-globalist, humanist, pro-freedom, and independent. An English-language version was released later in the week.

The newspaper claimed that it obtained a classified document signed by the RAND Corporation, titled ‘Weakening Germany, strengthening the US’. The paper, which was allegedly produced in January, outlined a scenario for how the US could help its struggling economy by draining resources from its European allies.

The purported plot involved goading Russia into attacking Ukraine, which would force the EU to impose sanctions on Russia and decouple their economies from Russian energy.

Well, today (September 17, 2022) I contacted the two Swedish authors of Nya Dagbladet and asked them to provide me with the RAND document... Continue reading >>> EXPLORE:

Jordan Peterson Has Some Good Advice For Vladimir Putin

I know what I’d do in Putin’s shoes – Jordan Peterson

Canadian social commentator and controversialist Jordan Peterson, who found world - wide fame through his readiness to denounce the 'woke' idiocies of liberal extremists, has been trying his hand at predicting the next developments in the Russian / Ukraine war. Peterson, who gained a huge following for his common sense responses to leftist groupthink has assessed the current situation, and understood that the war is not, and never was, between Ukraine and Russia, but between NATO and Russia, a proxy war that US neo - Con and neo Liberal hawks have desired for a long time.

The way in which sheep - like UK and EU leaders have followed the USA's lead as it provoked Russia over several years into military action against the Ukrainian regime, a bunch of neo - Nazi nutters in Kiev, installed after the USA / NATO engineered coup ousted a democratically elected government in 2014, reveals the pathetically inept level of leadership. While angling for a regime change campaign to overthow the Russian government and replace Putin and his team with a puppet regime controlled by Washington, Bruusels and the WEF, the western leaders managed to completely forget that in their zeal to embrace Greta-Thunbergesque 'net-zero' policies which made their countries dependent on Russian gas, oil and mineral resources and on China for manufactured goods.

And once the NATO and EU member states entered the Ukraine conflict by supporting the Ukrainian regime with military hardware, ammunition and financial support it was inevitable that Putin would weaponsise supplies of those vital commodities which they have done by reducing the flow of gas through pipelines into Europe.

So far Russia has only capped the amount of gas it sends to Europe but Peterson said that if he were the Russian president he would leave the EU without energy supplies in the winter.

“I know what I’d do in his shoes,” he said on the Piers Morgan Uncensored show on Thursday. “I’d wait till the first cold snap and shut off the taps.”

Referring to supplies of gas in particular, Peterson argued that Moscow had indirectly warned that a full shutdown would happen if EU nations continued their support for Ukraine when Russian gas giant Gazprom started curtailing deliveries through the Nord Stream pipeline to Germany, citing maintenance issues.

The political commentator rejected a notion popular with mainstream media in the West,  that Putin is insane  and resembles authoritarian tyrants likeAdolf Hitler or Josef Stalin in his thinking, calling the claim “foolish” and not backed by any actual evidence.

Putin “is a lot more like everybody else than anyone thinks,” Peterson said. He added that “there is a bit of Hitler and Stalin in everyone,” before going on to explanation how complicity in accepting government-imposed lies under pressure is part of human nature.

“The totalitarian state is actually the grip of the lie. And people would certainly go along with that. We’ve seen this emerge with [the] cancel culture. It’s like ‘Lie! Or else!’,” he said.

He mocked the idea that Ukraine and its Western backers could “win” against Russia as “naïve.”

“I just don’t understand that. What do you mean we are going to win? What are we going to win exactly?” he demanded.

In Peterson's view the Russian government would consider devastating Ukraine an acceptable outcome if no better alternative can be achieved. And the West would not be able to stop it due to Russia’s role as a global supplier of energy, he argued.

“We can’t win against Vladimir Putin in any way because you cannot win against someone you cannot say ‘no’ to. Period. And we can’t say ‘no’ to Putin because we sold our soul for his oil and gas,” he said.

“And we did that to elevate our moral stature in relation to ‘saving the planet.’ And here we are, facing a very dire winter, hoisted on the petard of our very own foolishness and moral presumption,” he added.

Peterson was referring to the scaremongering narrative used to promote the 'net zero' project to dismantle western civilisation, namely that humanity was facing an existential threat due to climate change which is driven by Carbon Dioxide emitted in the course of human activities, a threat he believes has been grossly exaggerated for political reasons. The possible consequences of the West’s proxy war with Russia being fought on Ukrainian soil and with Ukrainian soldiers and civiliians as Washington's cannon fodder is a far greater threat to humanity, he pointed out, as “the World Bank already estimated that we’ve put 350 million people into what they call ‘food insecurity’.”

“But the planet has too many people on it anyway, so, you know… It’s just poor people,” he added.

Peterson is a Canadian psychology professor who rose to international prominence over his commentaries on various contemporary issues, such as transgender acceptance policies in the West, the role of Christianity in cultures originating in Europe, and geopolitical conflicts. His YouTube channel has over 5.5 million subscribers - Wikipedia

Do We Have A Winter Of Civil Disobedience Ahead?
As many people in Britain slap on the apres sun gloop in the wake of what passes for a heatwave in these cool cloudy climes, our inept politicians caught with their pants down by unusual weather as usual have heard that that winter is coming and are making plans for a coldwave. We are in the grip of an energy crisis at the height of summer. Last week, it was reported that the UK government is laying down plans for a “reasonable worst-case scenario” including blackouts for industry and even households. And this is as energy prices spiral out of control to new records every day.

Is Russia Selling Its Oil To The World Through An Obscure Egyptian Port?
As this blog predicted when NATO and EU member states shot themselves in the foot by reacting to Russia's invasion of Ukraine with sanctions that prevented Russia from selling oil, gas and vital raw materials to the countries that needed them most, the NATO and EU member states, the Russians have had no problems finding alternative customers for their gas and oil and no problem getting oil into the world's commodity markets through the back door.

Jingoistic Western Triumphalism Will Not End The War In Ukraine Or Cripple Putin, But It Is Crippling Western Nations

News Summary - 22 September 2022

At the precipice of World War

Clash of the two systems of governance, as George Soros formulated it in his remarks to the World Economic Forum conference in May, seems to have reached a phase transition. Russian President Vladimir Putin has returned from last week’s summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization conference in Samarkand with a palpable sense of confidence and determination, and it does appear that he has obtained reassurances of support from all the key leaders during the event, including China’s Xi Jinping, India’s Narendra Modi, Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iran’s Ebrahim Raisi, and even the new PM of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif.

Now, the leadership of Russia is prepared to shift gears in Ukraine. While annexation of the Donbas region wasn’t part of the objectives set out at the outset of the “Special Military Operation” in February, this could be about to change.

Russia will mobilize about 1.2% of her mobilizational potential

by Vinyard of The Saker,

So, after lots of speculation, we now know that the Kremlin has decided to mobilize about 300’000 soldiers from a total mobilizational potential of 25’000’000 soldiers.  That’s just a little over 1% of Russia’s mobilizational potential.  We are talking only about those soldiers who have an official status of “reserves” and all of them will have to undergo a special training before being sent to the Ukraine.

A few comments about this decision:

  • It will take Russia a few months to gather and retrain (refresher courses) these forces and they will not be immediately available to protect the Lugansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhie and Kherson regions during the upcoming referendum on to whether to join Russia or not.  The 3rd volunteer army corps is already deployed in the south and could greatly assist in this.
  • Putin and Shoigu gave several reasons for this decision, including the very long line of contact, the direct involvement of NATO personnel who are now running the Ukronazi regime in Kiev and the threats by the West to dismantle Russia.
  • Shoigu indicated that the UAF lost about 50% of its personnel (over 100’000 soldiers out of a total potential of about 200’000).  He also added that most of the Ukrainian weapons systems, which were of Soviet origin, was mostly destroyed.  Russian KIAs are just under 6000 soldiers.
  • Shoigu also clearly spelled out that “we are not so much fighting against the Ukraine but against NATO plus the united (collective) West“.
  • Shoigu also mentioned that all of the NATO satellite capabilities (70 military and 200+ civilian satellites) are used against Russia right now.
  • Finally, Shoigu added that NATO high precision weapons are deliberately used by NATO commanders to terrorize civilians.

In other words, Russia is preparing for an escalation of this war in the coming months.  She is basically augmenting her forces to a level which could deal with a major NATO escalation in the Ukraine (and elsewhere as not all mobilized forces would have to be combat units; deploying more C4ISR capabilities, logistics/supply forces or civil affairs and counter-terrorism units would also make sense).

UK Government Lifts the Fracking Ban

has more.
The Business Secretary said “much has changed” since the Conservatives introduced the moratorium on fracking in 2019, including the energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.

He said the country needed to “explore all avenues available to us” as he also confirmed plans to issue a wave of new oil and gas licences in the North Sea.

Mr. Rees-Mogg said: “While the Government will always try to limit disturbance to those living and working near to sites, tolerating a higher degree of risk and disturbance appears to us to be in the national interest given the circumstances described.

“With this in mind, it is important that the policy relating to shale gas extraction reflects this.”

The fracking ban was prompted in part by a 2.9 magnitude tremor at a site in Lancashire, and a subsequent investigation that found it was not possible to accurately predict the probability or magnitude of earthquakes.

But Mr. Rees-Mogg said more data could be collected by allowing shale gas drilling and using the wells to better understand the risk of earthquakes.

The decision to allow fracking is likely to be unpopular with many Tory MPs, including those representing constituencies where it took place prior to 2019.

LITHIUM mining for electric vehicles is incredibly destructive to the environment and about as far from “green” as you can imagine

by Lance D Johnson, Natural News

Image: LITHIUM mining for electric vehicles is incredibly destructive to the environment and about as far from “green” as you can imagine

(Natural News) Electric vehicles are promoted as the solution for combating “climate change.” Governments are currently incentivizing the production of electric vehicles, while punishing the fossil fuel industry. However, lithium mining for electric vehicles is incredibly destructive to the environment, and is about as far from “green” as one could imagine. Not to mention, most of the lithium-ion batteries produced today come from China and require water-intensive mining operations that ravage natural environments throughout Australia, Argentina and Chile. The process depletes ground water, and leaves behind toxic wastewater that contaminates fields and harms wildlife. The mining process is not carbon dioxide free, either. The mining process releases 15,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions for every ton of lithium that is extracted.

When lithium is extracted from salt mines, the miners must drill into the salt flats and pump out a salty, mineral-rich brine. The brine is placed in large pools, so the water can evaporate out. When the brine evaporates, it leaves behind a sludge of potassium, manganese, borax and lithium salts that must be filtered out further. The process pollutes nearby aquifers and lowers the water table, interfering with water sources in the local environment.

The lithium extraction process takes several months, displaces valuable water resources, and leaves behind a toxic trail of wastewater in the local environment. It takes approximately 500,000 gallons of water to produce one ton of lithium. When mining companies head into countries like Chile, they use up a majority of the region’s water, unjustly affecting small communities.

At UN, Biden Has The Audacity To Say Russia Can't Take A Country's Territory By Force

Authored by Dave DeCamp via AntiWar.com,

At the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, President Biden focused most of his speech on Ukraine and accused Russia of violating the UN Charter by launching the war.

"Russia has shamelessly violated the core tenets of the United Nations Charter — no more important than the clear prohibition against countries taking the territory of their neighbor by force," he said.

US Bradley Fighting Vehicle patrols near oil production facilities in Syria's northeastern Hasakah province, file image.

Biden’s comments highlight US hypocrisy on the issue as Washington currently occupies a major portion of eastern Syria despite the Syrian government’s opposition. The US also supports Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and its blockade of Gaza, and Saudi Arabia’s war and blockade on its neighbor Yemen.

Biden said that the US will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia based on the principle that "you cannot seize a nation’s territory by force."

Massive Protest In Brussels Over Cost Of Living Crisis

by Arthur Foxake, 21 September 2022

More than 10,000 demonstrators took to the streets of the Belgian capital to protest against skyrocketing prices

Massive rally in Brussels over cost of living

Thousands of protestors gridlocked the streets of belgian capital city Brussels on Wednesday 21 September for a “national day of action” in support of trade union demands for higher wages and lower energy prices. According to Belgian police, over 10,000 people from all over Belgium gathered in capital as items in broadcast and print news revealed that an estimated 65% of the country’s households are struggling to pay their bills.

The demonstration was organized by Belgian trade unions, who claim that the average energy bill for families in the country has increased by 300% to more than €700 ($691) a month since the beginning of the year.

“It’s not that we don’t want to pay, but we can’t pay,” said Thierry Bodson, chairman of the General Labor Federation of Belgium, as he addressed thousands of union members at the Place de la Monnaie. With the average income for a Belgian family only amounting to €2,500 ($2,468) a month, Bodson asserted that it’s “absolutely impossible” for someone below that line to pay their bills.

Referencing the government’s advice that citizens  use less energy, Bodson said this was “pointless,” as most families have already cut back as far as possible on energy use to lower their bills but it has still not been enough to counter the steep rise in gas and electricity prices.

Placards seen in the crowds shared Bodson’s sentiments with slogans demanding “Freeze prices, not peoplbeene,” and “Everything is going up except our wages.”

The protesters are demanding that the government do more to combat skyrocketing food and fuel prices, and advising that additional help for families be funded by a windfall tax on energy companies that have reported record profits this year and made billions while the standard of living for average income groups has plummeted.

Last month, Belgium’s Statbel statistics agency reported that inflation in the country had jumped to 9.94% amid a surge in energy prices, almost reaching a record set in 1976.

Meanwhile, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo has warned that “the next five to ten winters will be difficult” due to record gas prices, but stated that Belgium would endure the crisis “if we support each other in these difficult times.”

Europe's Economy And Living Standards Are Plummeting

As the multiple crises in Europe deepen with no sign of relief in sight, Oriental Review comments that the ill-considered sanctions against Russia, far from achieving their objective of pressuiring Moscow into ending its war in Ukraine, have exposed the deep rooted problems of the European Union which is rapidly approaching economic collapse.

Without offering any evidence in support of its allegation the article states that a large number of businesses are on the verge of bankruptcy.

There is some truth in the article of course but the problems began long before war broke out in Ukraine. The continuing influx of of illiterate, unemployasble immigrants from Africa, the Middle East and Ukraine is pushing government spending ever higher  spending and causing unsustainable tensions in European societies as the newcomers refuse to abide by European laws and civilised standards of behaviour.

While this is going on, vast amounts of money are being thrown away in supporting the neo - Nazi nutters of the Kiev regime in their hopeless war against Russia. As a result, Europe’s economies are contracting at an alarming rate and living standards are plummeting.

In Britain many small businesses are stuggling due to higher energy costs according to a report from the analytical group Make UK, represents the interests of British manufacturing industry. 13% of British factories have reduced working hours and 7% are considering temporary shut downs temporarily closing down. Energy costs have risen by more than 100% compared to last year and all this has come while businesses were still trying to recover from the disastrous effects of the COVID panemic and associated lockdowns.

The increased cost of gas, heat and electricity has already caused a sharp rise of prices of energy resources on the European market. As a result, energy bills of European households have increased. According to Goldman Sachs’ analysts, its cumulative cost will peak in early 2023, increasing by 2 trillion euros. It has also led to a record depreciation of the European currency over the past 20 years.

In Germany the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research reports the number of firms and individuals went bankrupt in August alone rose 26% compared to the same period last year. The figure was significantly higher than German analysts had predicted. According to experts the number of bankruptcies will only increase as we move into winter. This is connected with the increase of the cost of production processes, in particular with the rise in prices for energy, and supply chain problems caused by lockdowns.

Olaf Scholz, Germany's hapless chancellor acknowledged that many Germans faced with rising prices for fuel and food are struggling to make ends meet. The situation in Germany is exacerbated by the curtailment of gas supplies from Russia, and by food shortages Most countries in Europe are in a similar situation but the ruling bureaucrats of the EU are prepared to sacrifice quality of life and economic prosperity in order to continue their efforts to wage economic war on Russia and to advance the self destructive, loonytoons energy policy in pursuit of the Green blob's dream of 'net zero.'.

In spite of all this EU leaders continue to supply Ukraine with military hardware, ammunition and financial aid, even though many experts believe should Russia decide to shut down the Nord Stream 1 pipeline completely (it is currently running at only 20% of capacity,) this will cause Europe’s worst energy crisis since World War 2.

The True Cost Of The Green Energy Boom Is Now Being Realized
For four decades we have been fed a constant stream of propaganda assuring us that green energy was the only way forward if we wanted to secure supplies of the energy essential to a modern society while preventing the environmental catastrophes that would be the inevitable consequence of climate change caused by the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emitted by human industrial, commercial and social activity. ...

The Truth About Coal And The Lies Of The Elite
So much for all the COP 26 banter late last year. Let me remind you. The elites all flew in on their private jets and promptly told us we’re all (royal we) getting off fossil fuels and killing coal.So how’s that turning out? The usage of coal is now at record highs:

Our current crop of politicians have discarded the resources that brought the country out of the post war decline ... Official Advice - Prepare For Blackouts This Winter

The UK government is putting plans together for days of organised blackouts this winter, in what they call a "reasonable worst-case scenario" for energy shortages, according to reports in manstream media. Naturally they are blaming this on the embargo on importing gas from Russia but in reality Britain has never imported any more than a small amout of its gas from Russia. The real reason politicians and energy company CEOs are panicking is entirely due to their obession with obtaining all our energy from intermittent sources like wind and sunshine ...

Resistance is growing to spiralling domestic energy costs in Britain as more than 75,000 irritated people in the UK have pledged not to pay their electricity bill this fall when prices jump again.

Jingoistic Western Triumphalism Will Not End The War In Ukraine Or Cripple Putin, But It Is Crippling Western Nations

Economists Warn German and Italian industry will struggle to recover from loss of Russian gas

Germany Gas Russia Ukraine War Sanctions Energy Crisis Recession Protests are underway all over Europe as households battle high energy prices Credit: Alex Kraus/Reuters

Europe’s largest economies face long lasting effects from the higher energy costs they must bear as a result of gas supplies from Russia being curtained. The the Beureacrats of Brussels confidently predict the Union can wean itself off cheap Russian energy, Barclays’ chief economist for the region has warned that there is no ready replacement and alternative suppliers such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Syria and Libya are likely to exploit the situation by raising prices.

Silvia Ardagna, speaking for Barclays said the bloc’s push for “independence from Russian gas” will pull down growth, push up inflation and drag down the euro.

“Costlier sources of energy will likely have an impact on eurozone competitiveness,” Ms Ardagna said.

The industrial economies of Germany and Italy have consolidated their presence in global markets partly because of apparently unlimited supplies of oil and gas from Moscow’s pipelines. But they now face losing access to those resources as Russia threatens to completely cut off supplies  in retaliation for the EU's material support of Ukraine and provocative rhetoric urging the neo - Nazi nutters in Kiev to escalate the war. But while Russia is having no trouble selling its oil, gas and other natural resources to emerging economies in Asia, Africa and South America, European powers find themselves increasingly squeezed as they seek to end purchases from the aggressive dictatorship.

Restrictions on gas volumes flowing through the Russian pipelines has already led to a sharp slump in the trade figures the of Germany and Italy forcing their economies into recession as their powerful manufacturing sectors, which were suffering supply and staffing problems in the aftermath of the COVGID pandemic hoax even before the energy crisis blew up in their faces, struggle with higher power costs.

Swedish Media Outlet Publishes Leaked U.S. Document On How to CRUSH Europe Economy via Ukraine War Effort

Swedish news organisation Nya Dagbladet has published what it claims to be leaked top secret US plans to use the war in Ukraine and an induced energy crisis to destroy european economies.

The report claims the RAND Corporation a defence and foreign policy think tank founded by military aircraft maker Douglas to prvoide the US government with research and analysis services and is fubded to the tune of $350 million annually by US taxpayers, and has the official aim of improving policies and decision-making, is the source of its evidence. RAND Corporation is primarily connected to the United States Department of Defense and is infamous for having been influential in the development of military and other strategies during the Cold War.

The allegedly leaked document signed RAND and headed “Weakening Germany, strengthening the U.S.”, suggests that there is an “urgent need” for an influx of resources from outside to maintain the overall American economy, but “especially the banking system”.

Only European countries bound by EU and NATO commitments can provide us with these without significant military and political costs for us.”

According to Nya Dagbladet, the RAND cites the main obstacle to this ambition as the growing independence of Germany. Among other things, it points out that Brexit has given Germany greater independence and m ade it more difficult for the United States to influence the decisions of European governments. This is bollocks but given the arrogance of US government and corporate bosses it is plausible they would write such nonsense.

A key objective of the strategy outlined in the document is to drive a wedge between Germany and Russia, thus disrupting an economic partnership that could seariously threaten to derail US ambitions to become a global hegemon. A Germany - Russia partnership, with France as a third partner, is seen as the greatest economic and political threat to the United States.

If implemented, this scenario will eventually turn Europe into not only an economic, but also a political competitor to the United States.”, it declares.

Though we should treat any such claimed leaks with extreme scepticism this pat of the document makes sense.

The USA and UK are traditional allies and while the UK was a member of the European Union it could be relied on to block any expansion of Russian influence in Brussels. Once the UK was out, Germany and France could dominate the other EU member states as they had always tried to do. The other large population EU members, Italy, Spain and Poland are economic basket cases and could easily be coerced through economic pressure. In order to crush the potential political threat of a working partnership involving German and French technical and industrial strength allied to Russia's vast energy and mineral resources and agricultural abundance, a strategic plan, primarily focused on destroying the German economy, is presented.

Stopping Russian deliveries could create a systematic crisis that would be devastating for the German economy and indirectly for the European Union as a whole”, it states, adding that the key is to draw the European countries into war.

While we still recommend scepticism, in the light of current events in Ukraine and the European Union the document's alleged content seems all to plausible.

CIA Spearheads US Bid To Control Cyberspace, We Can All Help The Resistance

It has reached a dangerous point common to many monarchs: The moment where it no longer wants to allow dissent.

Europe On Course For Economic Suicide By Sanctions and Net Zero

by Phil T. Looker, 16 September 2022

The sanctions imposed by European Union member states, the UK, Switzerland Norway and other NATO member states against Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine in February this year will rank in as the biggest self inflicted kicks in the bollocks throughout recorded history, and the best example in living memory of the disastrous consequences of how not thinking things through properly can result in disastrous unintended consequences.

While seeking to punish Russia by cutting off gas and oil imports, European Union politicians, in their zeal to embrace the groupthink and follow the crowd, managed to overlook the fact that their embracing the groupthink on climate change and 'net zero' energy policies they had made Europe dependent on Russian energy supplies , with absolutely no fallback position and that the only people to suffer were those imports shut down would be the people of Europe and European national economies.

Egged on by the American idiot - president, 'Dementia Joe Biden,' European leaders charged ahead with sanctions on imports of energy, fertilizer and other essential commodities, confident that the Russian economy would collapse in days and Vladimir Putin would have no option to to agree a ceasefire on whatever terms NATO saw fit to offer. USA led NATO terms because, let's be honest, this was never a war between Ukraine and Russia, it was the long planned proxy war between the USA and Russia fought on Ukrainian soil and using Ukrainian army personnel as cannon fodder and Ukrainian civilians for target practice.

Russians however play their own games and make up the rules as they go along and The Kremlin simply pivoted to the south and east and found plenty of new buyers for its oil, gas and other commodities in China, India, and elsewhere. In fact, Russia’s state-run Gazprom energy company has reported that its profits have increased by 100 percent in the first half of this year.

Russia's economy is booming while Europeans are facing a freezing winter , food shortages, power cuts, hyper - inflation, a cost of living crisis and economic collapse. All because of the false belief that sanctions are a cost-free way to force other countries to bow to your diktat.

What happens when the people on the shitty end of these stupid policies see energy bills skyrocket as the economy grounds to a halt? They become desperate and take to the streets in protest, civil unrests further disrupts the economic and social fabric.

This weekend thousands of Austrians took to the streets in a “Freedom Rally” to demand an end to sanctions and the opening of Nord Stream II, the gas pipeline on the verge of opening earlier this year. The protestors demanded government action to curb the rising cost of living and the insane increases in energy costs..

Some people condemned the Austrian government for failing the people and called for the lifting of “suicidal sanctions” against Russia and for Austria to break ranks with NATO and declare neutrality. Others condemned NATO’s belligerent nature, which is pushing Europe towards an unprecedented militarization. Austrian newspaper Heute quoted local police as saying the number of people at the scene was expected to reach 30,000.

Similar protests took place in Prague, the Czech capital, last Saturday (September 3). According to local sources, more than 70,000 Czechs poured into Wenceslas Square, to complain that the Czech government had failed to solve the energy crisis and should resign.

After the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Western countries increased sanctions on Russia, disrupting the supply of energy markets and causing European energy prices to soar. After Russia recently announced the indefinite shutdown of the “North Stream-1” gas pipeline, the European energy crisis has further fermented.

Not only that, the Group of Seven (G7) also wants to set a price cap on Russian natural gas. The Russian side responded that it would not work in a non-competitive environment, and Gazprom would completely cut off its supply to EU countries.

Even the Washington Post, a cheerleader for escalation throughout the conflict, was forced to admit that sanctions on Russia are not having the intended effect. In an article yesterday (15 September), the paper worries that sanctions are inflicting “collateral damage far beyond the intended target, potentially even hurting the very countries that impose them. Some even worried that the sanctions intended to deter and weaken Putin could end up emboldening and strengthening him.”

This is all predictable. Sanctions kill. Sometimes they kill innocents in the country targeted for destruction and sometimes they kill innocents in the country imposing them. The solution, as always, is non-intervention. No sanctions, no “color revolutions,” no meddling. It’s really that simple.
