German Study Finds Lockdown "Had No Effect" In Stopping Spread Of COVID

I told you so, throughout most of last year and so far this year I've been saying that lockdowns and mask mandates had no effect in inhibiting the spread of COVID:

A major new study by German scientists at Munich University has found that lockdowns had no effect on reducing the country’s coronavirus infection rate.

Oh.

“Statisticians at Munich University found “no direct connection” between the German lockdown and falling infection rates in the country,” reports the Telegraph.

The study found that, on all three occasions before Germany imposed its lockdowns in November, December and April, infection rates had already begun to fall.

The R rate – the number that indicates how many other people an infected person passes the virus to – was already under 1 before the lockdown restrictions came into force.

As we highlighted last year, a leaked study from inside the German Ministry of the Interior revealed that the impact of the country’s lockdown could end up killing more people than the coronavirus due to victims of other serious illnesses not receiving treatment.

This is by no means the only study to have concluded that lockdowns are completely useless and don’t work.

A peer reviewed study published in January by Stanford researchers found that mandatory lockdowns do not provide more benefits to stopping the spread of COVID-19 than voluntary measures such as social distancing.

Back in March, Stanford medical professor Dr. Jay Bhattacharya told Newsweek that COVID-19 lockdowns are “the single worst public health mistake in the last 100 years.”

Earlier this year, academics from Duke, Harvard, and Johns Hopkins concluded that there could be around a million excess deaths over the next two decades as a result of lockdowns.

Other research has concluded lockdowns will conservatively “destroy at least seven times more years of human life” than they save.

Former CDC Chief: I Didn't Expect Death Threats From Fellow Scientists Over Lab-Leak Theory

When the director of America's formost health agency, The CDC (Centre for Disease Control) gets death threats because he questioned the globalist / Big Pharma propaganda on beating the COVID pandemic it is a sure sign that something is very wrong in the academic community and in society in general.

Alternate headline: No one expects the Woke Scientistic Inquisition! Vanity Fair does an extensive and impressive dive into the strange but pervasive attempts by the scientific, media, and government establishments to quash any discussion of the lab-leak hypothesis for COVID-19’s origin.

It got so bad that former CDC director Robert Redfield got death threats for suggesting it publicly — from other scientists:

A months long Vanity Fair investigation, interviews with more than 40 people, and a review of hundreds of pages of U.S. government documents, including internal memos, meeting minutes, and email correspondence, found that conflicts of interest, stemming in part from large government grants supporting controversial virology research, hampered the U.S. investigation into COVID-19’s origin at every step. In one State Department meeting, officials seeking to demand transparency from the Chinese government say they were explicitly told by colleagues not to explore the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s gain-of-function research, because it would bring unwelcome attention to U.S. government funding of it.
In an internal memo obtained by Vanity Fair, Thomas DiNanno, former acting assistant secretary of the State Department’s Bureau of Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance, wrote that staff from two bureaus, his own and the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, “warned” leaders within his bureau “not to pursue an investigation into the origin of COVID-19” because it would “‘open a can of worms’ if it continued.” …
But for most of the past year, the lab-leak scenario was treated not simply as unlikely or even inaccurate but as morally out-of-bounds. In late March, former Centers for Disease Control director Robert Redfield received death threats from fellow scientists after telling CNN that he believed COVID-19 had originated in a lab. “I was threatened and ostracized because I proposed another hypothesis,” Redfield told Vanity Fair. “I expected it from politicians. I didn’t expect it from science.”
With President Trump out of office, it should be possible to reject his xenophobic agenda and still ask why, in all places in the world, did the outbreak begin in the city with a laboratory housing one of the world’s most extensive collection of bat viruses, doing some of the most aggressive research?

News flash: It was possible all along to reject Trump’s “xenophobic agenda” and still ask that question. Many did, only to get calumnized by media outlets as conspiracy theorists, racists, or both.

It’s not as if the CNN interview took place in the early days of the pandemic, either. Redfield expressed his skepticism of the zoonotic-transfer hypothesis in March 2021, just over two months ago. Four days later, WHO secretary-general Tedros Ghebreyesus would also suggest that the lab-leak hypothesis needed serious investigation, which no doubt took some of the pressure off Redfield. Those threats and calumny over what should be a basic scientific inquiry speaks volumes about the coordinated effort to impose political correctness or just flat-out pandering to China over science.

Now that the spell has been broken, suddenly everyone seems interested in why China’s blocked that scientific inquiry from taking place in any serious manner. The Washington Post, for instance, informs its readers today that China has balked at allowing independent investigation and open discussion of its viral research and the operations at the Wuhan Institute of Virology:

Nothing is known outside China about the science gleaned from that expedition by the Wuhan CDC — the same agency that oversaw China’s early pandemic response. The team has not disclosed what viruses, if any, it found in the cave, or even when the mission took place. According to a World Health Organization report released in March, the Wuhan CDC denied any storage or laboratory activities involving bat viruses before the coronavirus outbreak — a stance hard to reconcile with Tian’s boasts in the video about having visited dozens of bat caves and studied 300 types of virus vectors.
Tian has not spoken publicly for more than a year.
The silencing of scientists, the blanket denials, the careful guarding of raw data and biological samples — these elements have been emblematic of the approach by Chinese authorities at every stage of the coronavirus outbreak. And they continue to obstruct the world’s ability to get answers.

Those three paragraphs, and especially the last one, could have been written at any time over the last eighteen months. And this certainly could have been written at the time Redfield expressed his interest in the lab-leak theory:

Chinese authorities weren’t much more receptive of the international team commissioned by the WHO. Negotiations over the arrangements delayed the team from getting to Wuhan until more than a year after doctors first raised concerns there. Once on the ground, the international experts were given limited access. They visited the market linked to early coronavirus cases — but it had been shut for a year and its contents long ago removed. Their visit to the Wuhan Institute of Virology lasted three hours. In general, they had to satisfy themselves with data that was in large part collected by Chinese scientists before the trip.
The result was a report that didn’t significantly advance the world’s understanding of how the pandemic came about.

This was painfully clear all during this supposed independent probe by WHO. Certainly some media reported on China’s refusal to cooperate properly with the investigators. Until Ghebreyesus admitted as much at the end of March, however, most of the media insisted that all other theories except zoonotic transfer had been “debunked,” to use the WaPo’s term. They continued to attack those who demanded a proper investigation into COVID-19 origins, and never bothered to ask themselves why China was blocking investigations if they didn’t have anything to hide.

The email from Dr. Peter Daszak, President of the EcoHealth Alliance, a group that has extensive ties to the Wuhan lab gain of function research, sent the email to Fauci on April 18, 2020, roughly six weeks after the outbreak had taken hold.

“As the Pl of the ROl grant publicly targeted by Fox News reporters at the Presidential press briefing last night, I just wanted to say a personal thank you on behalf of our staff and collaborators, for publicly standing up and stating that the scientific evidence supports a natural origin for COVID-19 from a bat-to-human spillover, not a lab release from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

From my perspective, your comments are brave, and coming from your trusted voice, will help dispel the myths being spun around the virus’ origins. Once this pandemic’s over I look forward thanking you in person and let you know how important your comments are to us all.”

The Ugly Self Righteousness Of The Vaccinated

I was appalled to read in The Daily Telegraph, one of the UK's leading national newssheets today a self righteous rant by some stupid cow proclaiming that in future she would no0t be invintin her unvaccinated friends to dinner in future as their irresponsibility and selfishness was in tolerable. going on to whine about how to people who refuse the vaccine their "right" to refuse the vaccine are a danger ot other people. At the weekend, I attended a lovely outdoor gathering. There we were, a gaggle of middle-aged women enjoying the heatwave, laughing about how to shift our “corona stone” weight gain and sipping cocktails in an enchanting pub garden.

Soon, as is now customary, we were swapping our vaccination stories – apart from one friend, that is, who kept very quiet. Because she has decided not to have the jab.

When it was her turn to reveal if she was “Astra or Pfizer”, she said: “Neither, actually…” When she caught our incredulous expressions, she explained she was against “putting stuff” in her body and would take her chances with herd immunity.

The rest of us fell awkwardly silent and then changed the subject – but, later, I found myself fuming. I feel increasingly angry at those who refused to be vaxxed. Amid a surge in cases of the Indian variant, which now makes up three-quarters of cases in the UK – and following the discovery of a new mutation in Vietnam (currently on our amber list) – one fact that can’t be disputed is that, so far, the vaccines are playing a major role in preventing serious disease, even in its mutated forms.

A recent round of figures from Public Health England (PHE) showed that just two people died with the Indian variant of Covid after receiving both jabs. Getting the shot is literally helping us stay alive.

Which is why I nearly punched the air in agreement when Countdown presenter Nick Hewer and Good Morning Britain host Adil Ray admitted on the ITV morning show this week that they would ditch friends who had decided not to have the Covid vaccine.

Well said. I, too, am no longer seeing those friends who refuse to get jabbed.

One great mate from university, who self-medicates her anxiety with copious amounts of chardonnay, made me laugh when she revealed she refused to put “nasties” in her body. She and I are on the same page with most other things, yet Covid has cleaved a wedge between us. I have not returned her calls since.

Another friend who calls herself “a healer” but won’t have the vaccine – “I’ve done the research,” she insists, by which she means she has read a few bogus pseudo-science articles online – was offended when a mutual friend edged away from her at a small dinner party last month.

And so it goes on with the usual complaints about people being anti - vaccine and "anti-science," and there being no proof that the vaccine is responsible for any of the 15,000 deaths and almost 500,000 serious adverse reactions that have occurred in the hours or days following people getting the vaccine.

A lot of people in alt_media and lately a few in mainstream media have likened CoVID vaccine fanaticism to a religious cult, like thouse medieval inquisitors who ran around screaming "heretic" at anyone who did not embrace the idiocies of the church enthusiastically enough. I am not anti vaccine, I am sceptical of all things, as a benificiary of the renaissance model of education (aka the liberal arts education,) my schooling trained me to question everything. Bizarrely when I question the case for vaccinating everybody against COVID I get no rational answers, only wild accusations about my ignorance, hatred of science (I like science, it's scientists I can't stand,) and my self destructive foolishness in choosing decline the vaccine. I have even been told I have signed my own death warrant by refusing the vaccine.

That was back in February when the official narrative held that the vaccines were 100% safe but whether we were vaccinated or not nobody in the world could be safe until everybody was vaccinated. Again we see a demonstration of the COVID vaccine cult throwing logic out of the window in favour of dogma, or maybe it is an indirect admission that vaccines do not work. How else can the case be made that the unvaccinated pose a threat to the vaccinated? I have asked that question hundres of times now, going back to the controvosy over the MMR jab in the 1990s. The logic of my argument is simple, if vaccines make those who receive them immune, how can the unvaccinated pass on the virus. And if, in the face of contrary evidence, we assume those who decline vaccination have made an informed choice then they accept the risk to themselves.

What cannot be explained but should be explained because it is completely unaccepatable otherwise is why there is such determination by government to bully or coerce us all into getting this vaccine, which has not been properly tested, has so far exceeded by 300 times the numbers of deaths and adverse reactions that would have caused any new drug or vaccine to be withdrawn because of safety concerns.Yet in spite of its experimental nature and the fact that the usual testing and approvals process for new drugs and medicines bypassed we are still being told the four vaccines now available are perfectly safe.

In spite of all these doubts and unanswered questions a massive proaganda campaign, Project Fear, has divided nations and communities as the vaccinated, like the mutants in "Invasion of The Body Snatchers" scream accusations at those of us who have resisted project fear and somehow in the face of all the lies, fake statistics, scaremongering and threats, managed to retain the ability to think for ourselves. But as it is now becoming common knowledge that, as was reported 14 months ago, the virus is gen,etically engingeered to work in conjunction with the vaccine and undermine the human immune system.

So let us all hope that when the immune system of the self righteous cow quoted above and her equally horrible friends are chronically ill and need someone to care for them (healthcare systems will have collapsed,) all the people she has denounced and defriended (IRL) now respond by saying, "Sorry, you told us you did not want any unvaccinated people near you, we were quite prepared to accept you as a mutant if you had respected our choice to remain fully human, it's too late to call on our frienship now, don't you know there's a global crisis going on because of the immune systems of millions of people failing, making them vulnerable to everything.

A government scientist says he has been “told to shut up” by people who don’t want to heed his warnings about exiting the coronavirus lockdown too early.

Professor Adam Finn, from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), said his concern about England unlocking too early on 21 June has been met with a barrage of criticism.

He is one of a number of experts calling for scheduled easing in three weeks to be delayed because of the continuing spread of the Indian COVID-19 variant.

Under the next phase of England’s lockdown easing on 21 June, all legal limits on social contact are set to be removed, while nightclubs can reopen and restrictions on weddings would be lifted.

Discussing his warning over the unlocking, Prof Finn said: “There are a lot of people who are very fed up about the idea of us even worrying about this.”

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “Since I’ve been saying in the last 24 hours that we should be cautious I’ve been getting lots of messages from people telling me to shut up basically.”

Prof Finn warned that having to reimpose lockdown restrictions would be both worse economically and for public health.

“There’s vulnerability across the country. The idea that somehow the job is done, is wrong,” he said.

“We’ve still got a lot of people out there who’ve neither had this virus… nor yet been immunised, and that’s why we’re in a vulnerable position right now.”

Asked in a separate interview on Tuesday with LBC radio about whether the final easing should take place on 21 June, Prof Finn said: “I fear it may be a bad decision to go with it.”

His comments echoed those of fellow government adviser Professor Ravi Gupta, a member of the New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (Nervtag), who said the 21 June unlocking should be postponed.

On Monday, Prof Gupta, from the University of Cambridge, warned that the UK is in the early stages of a third wave of coronavirus, after more than 3,000 new cases were reported for the sixth day in a row.

“What we are seeing here is the signs of an early wave,” Prof Gupta told the Today programme.

On Tuesday, he repeated his calls to delay the 21 June lifting of restrictions by “a few weeks”.

He told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “Even a month delay could have a big impact on the eventual outcome of this.

“As long as it’s clear to people this is not an unlimited extension of the lockdown but actually just a reassessment, that would be realistic.”

He stressed that the race between the virus and the vaccines is still a close one, saying: “We must remember this is a virus that does adapt, and faced with vaccines it will eventually start to make mutations to avoid them even further, and then we could be in an even more precarious situation after that.”

A final decision on whether the lockdown in England will be eased will be made on 14 June.

Environment secretary George Eustice said on Monday the government is not ruling out delaying the scheduled 21 June lockdown easing.

He said: "We can't rule anything out. We know this has been a difficult pandemic, a dynamic situation. We have to make that judgment a couple of weeks before.

"It will only be by then that we will see the impact of the latest easement we made on 17 May."

On Monday, Twickenham Stadium in south west London was transformed into a walk-in vaccination centre as up to 15,000 people were invited to get their first jabs.

The mass vaccination was organised in an effort to counter the spread of the Indian variant in Hounslow, west London.

People aged 18 and over were invited to come forward for their jabs due to a surplus of vaccines, even though nationwide the level is 30 and over.

Also on Monday, the rise in COVID-19 cases in Bolton – one of the areas which has seen a sharp rise in numbers of the Indian variant – showed signs of slowing.

The seven-day rate in Bolton currently stands at 386.7 cases per 100,000, down from 452.8 on May 21, suggesting the recent surge in cases in the town may have peaked.

Health teams in the local authority area have been running surge testing for the virus, along with “surge vaccinations” to boost take-up among everyone who is eligible for the vaccine.

Government Spending Cuts Hit NHSGovernment spending cuts will stretch the NHS and social care services in England to the limit, according to a report by the Commons Health Select Committee.
