An almost complete news blackout from Brazil has been in operation since early October after evidence of serious election fraud by supporters of Pressident elect Luiz Ignation Lula da Silva had swayed the vote in favoutr of the communist candidate and former jailbird. The defeated former president Jair Bolsonaro publicly denounced the result and called for an audit of votes which under Brazilian constitutional law he is entitled to do.

There were unconfirmed reports last week that the Brazilian military had moved against Lula and invoked a clause in the constitution which allows them to remove a president found to have behaved dishonestly.
