A machete weilding attcker killed a woman and wounded two other people near a kebab shop in the town of Reutlingen, southwestern Germany The Independent reported on Sunday. Police said the attacker is a Syrian asylum seeker but his motives are as yet unclear unclear.
An eyewitness to the latest terror attack told the German tabloid Bild: "The attacker was completely out of his mind. He ran with the machete behind a police patrol car."
He said a passing BMW managed to run him over and afterwards he "lay prostrate on the ground and didn't move".
The police have not yet released the name of the 21-year-old Syrian refugee.
News of this latest attack comes as the "lone wolf" narrative spun around the alleged Munich shooter appears to be unravelling rapidly.
As we previously reported, initial eye witness reports suggested there were at least three shooters active in the Olympia shopping mall. After Bavarian crime office searched the flat occupied by David Ali Sonboly they provided additional details into his motives. Although the picture painted was of a depressed and isolated young man with a history of mental health problems who had acted spontaneously, materials found were consistent with the theory that he had been planning the attack for a whole year prior to the act. Police also say a manifesto was left at the site of the shooting.
According to Sueddeutsche Zeitung, the shooter bought the Glock he used in the shooting online through the so called "dark net", the concealed area of the internet accessed normally by people looking for illegal services or items.
Cited by NBC, Munich police spokesman Marcus da Gloria Martins said in a press conference earlier that "we are operating on the premise of a terrorist attack," but Andrae said later that links to terror had not been established.
Police said witnesses described multiple suspects wielding long guns, but Andrae said that claim was unfounded. Which is strange, because similar "mistakes" were made both in Orlando several weeks ago, as well as in Nice last week, when initial reports of multiple attackers ultimately turned out to be "lone wolves."
Questions are also being asked about how the lone wolf theory and "No ISIS connection" ties in with the fact that someone in an ideal position to video the attack started recording ten seconds before the first shot were fired. There is said to be no ISIS connection but recording atrocities to post online is an ISIS trade mark.Gun experts are also pointing out that the Glock allegedly used by the shooter only has a seventeen shot magazine but twenty shots fired in rapid succession can be counted in the first burst of firing.
Others have queried why the shooter in the video would go into the street and fire into the mall. The only possible reason is that to do so would make for a more dramatic news clip.
As usual with these stories, as those in authority desperately try to manage the information, conspiracy theories start to emerge which tend to increase tensions rather than soothe them.

US Government Uses Orlando Shooting To Justify More Surveillance Of Citizens
Members of the US Congress have seized the Orlando gay club mass shooting to advance proposals for expanding the surveillance of US citizens by the federal government and intelligence community. Power to carry out warrantless surveillance will be increased in the wake of the massacre according to news agencies.
Julian Sanchez, a senior fellow at the CATO Institute, describes the new provisions as "an expansion of the power of surveillance and to demand the surrender of confidential records, which are tool traditionally used by to get a wide variety of financial or telecommunications records." He notes a pattern by the bureau of pushing the limits on what information it is allowed to gather.
"Some years ago, the FBI was basically told that their interpretation (of their ability to solicit) any kind of any electronic transaction record was too broad," and that, "it wasn’t to be used in an unlimited way to get any kind of digital transaction record…for that they would need to go to FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance ACT) court for those more detailed records."
NSA whistleblower William Binney comments that he feels the use of NSLs is "basically unconstitutional, especially when it comes to the gag order, and, of course, gathering data on US citizens. The gag order has already been ruled by a federal district court judge as a violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution. In this case they’re basically scrapping the Constitution. I personally call that treason against the founding principles of this nation."
Binnney is worried about the proposed bill and the potential impact its use of technology to ibvade personal privacy could have on the civil liberties of Americans.
Sanchez said, "What’s striking is there’s almost always no real relation between the emotional event and the policy. Usually it’s something that they’ve wanted since long before the event happened," he said. "in this case, this national security letter power is something the FBI has been asking for, for over five years, and in fact the legislation was introduced well before the Orlando shooting, so it’s certainly not a response to that shooting, but they’re quick to invoke the Orlando shooting as a reason to support it."
He added that in the case of Omar Mateen, the Orlando shooter, "it’s very clear that (expanded NSL powers) wouldn’t have made a difference. The Orlando shooter, years earlier, for unrelated reasons, had been investigated by the FBI. They reviewed his transactional records as part of that investigation. The fact was, when they investigated him, they simply didn’t have any evidence to show that he was likely to do something like this, years down the line."
"The truth is, they have the ability to get these types of records when they’re conducting these investigations, they just need to go to a judge. So this isn’t about giving them the ability to get information as part of legitimate investigations. It’s about whether they get to circumvent the requirement to show some kind of minimal evidence to a judge to justify it, he said."

Orlando Shooting Suspect Identified As Omar Mateen, An Afghan With Links To ISIS
Omar Mateen, the terrorist who killed over 50 people in a gay club in Orlando, Florida, earlier today, is now known to have called emergency services and pledged allegiance to ISIS before he committed the atrocity. As the New York Post reports, Omar Mateen had committed himself to ISIS before carrying out the bloodiest mass murder on US soil in history at a gay nightclub federal officials said, according to California Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat Congressman on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, told CNN.
According to Washington Post, the ex-wife of the 29-year-old Afghan born shooter said he was violent and mentally unstable and beat her repeatedly while they were married. The ex-wife said she met Omar Mateen online about eight years ago and decided to move to Florida and marry him. At first, the marriage was normal, she said, but then he became abusive.
(UPDATE: After logging off last night we learned the Orlando attacker was in fact born in New York to Afghan parents - apologies for the error, our sources for breaking are 24 hour news feeds and it is difficult to verify details given in early reports of major news stories)
“He was not a stable person,” said the ex-wife, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because she feared for her safety in the wake of the mass shooting. “He beat me. He would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn’t finished or something like that.”
Mir Seddique, the Afghan father of Mateen, said it is intolerance of homosexuality, and not affiliations with ISIS or any other terror group fanatical supporters of Islam, that likely provoked the attack. "This has nothing to do with religion," he told NBC, stating that he was “in shock like the whole country.”
He went on to relate a “recent incident” that demonstrated his son’s attitudes. "We were in Downtown Miami, Bayside, people were playing music. And he saw two homosexuals kissing each other in front of his wife and kid and he got very angry. They were kissing each other and touching each other and he said, 'Look at that. In front of my son they are doing that.' And then we were in the men's bathroom and men were kissing each other."
It is difficult to say that any good can come of such and incident, but if this outrage serves as a warning to 'liberals' (particularly the pair in The White House who are obsessed with gay and transgender rights) that it is sheer folly for a nation apparently determined to elevate gays and lesbians to the status of an elite caste to be equally enthusiastic about importing followers of a religious group in which homosexuality is not tolerated.

San Bernadino Shooting: We should not judge a person by their name but ...
We should no more judge a person's worth by their name than by their looks. Now thar Syed Farook And Tashfeen Malik are identified as being responsible for the latest mass shooting in the USA, at a social centre in San Bernardino, California, there will probably be an outpouring of 'all Muslims are terrorists' sentiments.
To say that however is as silly as saying 'all Christians are young earth creationists' (an accusation thrown at me recently when I challenged some plank who was claiming life on earth was started by 'evolution') such comments are not only unhelpful, they serve to harden attitudes.
I know several Muslim guys here in Lancashire where we have Pakistani and Bangla Deshi communities, they like a drink as the pub with us English lads, follow local football teams, have a bet on the horses and do many unislamic things. People do not have to follow every moral stricture to the letter to be true to their faith.
Many years ago I knew a young woman named Hayat Asafa. One evening, at her flat after we had been to an Ian Dury gig I was teasing about her being an immodest woman because she went out with hair unvovered and face unveiled, wearing a short skirt and high heels (Hayat was very westernised).
"You want modest," she said, skipped off to the bedroom and returned wearing only a hijab and high heels.
"So long as the face and hair are covered the rest doesn't matter in my parent's sect," she told me.
People are different, communities are different.
Having said that, it seems the San Bernadino Shooters had something in common with the perpetrators of last month's attack in Paris, the Charlie Hebdo terrorists and the 9/11 hijackers. They had links with Saudi Arabia.
And Saudi Arabia is a nation the west considers an ally in the middle east. Maybe it is time to rethink our relationship with the Wahabi medievalist kingdom.

Could it be his Saudi puppet masters agenda of overthrowing Assad is more important to him.
