To put a tracker device in the pockets of 90% of the population and set up the networks and data centres to gather, collate and store the data would have been prohibitively costly.

In the article from which we reproduce an extract below the author discusses the UK government's plans, in collaboration with Silicon Valley black hat actors Google and Apple to introduce mandatory client side scanning surveillance on smartphones, giving tech companies and government agencies powers to read and record every message or internet session users are involved in. They justify this exercise in trampling on constitutional rights and liberties by claiming it is to protect children from accessing harmful material
It is no coincidence that simultaneously Starmer's Socialist government is working with tech firms on plans to make what they call 'misinformation and disinformation' (i.e. anything the government does not want you to see, hear or read,) posted online invisible to user. All levels of government deny this is a blatant attack on free speech of course.
And we must not forget, though it is on hold at the moment due to a public opinion backlash, Reichsfuhrer Starmer's favourite sacred cow project, mandatory Digital ID is still part of his manifesto.

view, or share a single nude image, with the executives who refuse

government's justification for total surveillance.
"You cannot block every naked picture someone might stumble
across without inspecting every picture, every message, every video
call, every streamed film, on every device, all the time," Reclaim
noted, with nudity serving as "the excuse and the unbroken view into
your phone is the actual prize."
The industry term is
"client-side scanning," which sounds much nicer than "a government
mandated app that looks at everything on your phone all the time."
And even that sounds better than "Big Brother is Watching You," which is exactly what it is.
As
already required by Britain's Online Safety Act, Apple and Google
forcibly install age verification on every iPhone and Android device in
the UK via app store updates.
No, it can't be uninstalled.

January, what this means in practice is that London's Office of
Communications ("Ofcom" in Newspeak) mandates on-device software able to
read everybody's "private" messages in real-time and scan their images,
too, before any personal encryption tools come into play.

The UK's socalist government, having for the moment backed off plans to make digital ID mandatory for access to government servives, has revealed its plans for ramping up total surveillance as a weapon in its war on the people as a consultation on how forces should use facial recognition and biometrics, purportedly to ensure police will be better equipped to track down dangerous criminals. Supporters of technofascist authoritarianism claim this could become ‘the biggest breakthrough since DNA matching’ according to information published on the official uk government website.
Facial recognition, although notoriously inaccurate and ridiculously easy to circumvent, will, according to the plan, be used to locate wanted suspects in public
places, find vulnerable missing people and identify offenders more
quickly through footage obtained from CCTV and doorbell cameras. Authoritarian parties in government are desperately eager to introduce this flawed technology despite tech. experts having called for facial recognition technology to be banned due to abysmal results in independent testing of its accuracy.
In the last 2 years, the Metropolitan Police claim to have made 1,300 arrests using
facial recognition including rapists, domestic abusers and violent
criminals and found more than 100 registered sex offenders breaching
their license conditions.
The consultation will pave the way for new laws so all police forces
can use this new technology with greater confidence and more often. However the figures quoted are vague and while they highlight the low number of arrests made on falsely positive identifications, mention of the number of people questioned but not arrested by police (a disturbing experience for many law abiding citizens,) due to false identification by the technology is carefully avoided.
Facial recognition has so far been used byeight
police forces in England and Wales to find wanted suspects and
vulnerable people, as well as monitoring live events, since 2017.
Officials
say the technology is needed to help catch serious offenders which could be interpreted as an admission of incompetence. Civil rights groups certainly think so and are concerned the technology is too invasive and may have racial
biases as well as facilitating gross violations of the right to privacy.
The public
consultation could lead to new legislation on how and when police could
use facial recognition technology. Currently, they can use three types
for specific purposes.
The
Home Office says that while there is a legal framework for police to
use facial recognition technology, this "does not give the police
sufficient confidence to use it at significantly greater scale".

not just this present government, but reflective of a TREND towards
authorities wanting to take control. It's insidious, really. But we can also blame the press and media in general as well for creating an
atmosphere of panic by endlessly singling out circumstances that create
public alarm for no other reason than to sell papers/advertising. If you go
back over the past 40 years or so, there was panic over “video nasties"
so that brought in legislation; there was panic over dangerous dogs, so
they brought in legislation. This panic, I am reliably informed, was
generated by non-stop press coverage whereby journalists were actively
LOOKING for stories to generate a public outcry. A more recent
“intervention" has been the introduction of the so-called “online safety
bill" which proposes banning some grops for using internet technoloy such as social media, as well as “compulsory ID.”
While outrage at one level might seem so legitimate,
something far more insidious has been underway for a long time: the
erosion of civil rights and liberties paving the way, as now, for the the
implementation of facial recognition technology.
Perhaps often accuse us Boggart Bloggers of being conspiracy theorists, but world weary old gits like us did not get this far through our lives without being able to smell the big fat rat in all of this: Governments exploiting people's FEARS in
order to gain more control over their lives.
There has to be a balance between surveillance and civil liberties. The police say that
the facial recognition system compares the captured images against a
database of wanted people and those with specific restrictions like
Sexual Risk Orders. Images captured where the person isn't on the
database are wiped within a few milliseconds. They also say the system
is audited by outside agencies to ensure they comply. Obviously there
will be those of us who distrust anything government tells us nd have learned from previous experiences of independent regulators that such assurances are a load of bollocks.
However the greater and more immediate concern for all of us should be about the CCTV in the local corner shop and my
neighbour's doorbell being hooked up to the networks of parasitic corporations like Met, Google and Apple, you can be absolutely certain those don't comply
with the regulations.

In late 2019 and early 2020 and during the COVID era of lockdowns, mask mandates, etc., trillions of dollars were handed over, (via COVID-relief packages,) to elite interests while lockdowns and restrictions were imposed on ordinary people and small businesses.The winners were the global corporations like Amazon, Big Pharma and the tech giants. The News this week has thrown up some interesting questions. While the main headlines have concerned immigration, the economy, climate change, Trump, Labour MP plotting against their leader, the meltdown at the BBC, and the failure of policing there have been many second layer stories about privacy, or the lack of it in the digital era. UK citizens health records released on the dark web, Prince Harry and not-Princess Meghan's latest whine, the publication of the Jeffrey Epstein files across the pond, and the usual plethora of reports about surveillance, data mining by Big Tech corporations and abuse of users rights on the world wide web.
It seems there is now little distinction between the public and private world. We have allowed a diluted concept of privacy in which those in authority decide what civil rights and liberties rights we have rather than our right to privacy being the default position. This new privacy lite serves not as protection from authority and public scrutiny, and as a sanctuary for the inner self and a shelter for intimacy — but merely as data protection.
Through it all, we blame the convenient scapegoat of the moment: the internet. But this gets the timeline wrong. By the time social media arrived, we were already living in a post-private world. The digital revolution simply gave us more efficient tools to do what we were already doing: performing our identities, seeking validation through revelation, and treating intimacy as a public commodity. Nobody forced us to hand our data to Microsoft, Meta or Google, were nudged into it. But nudging (propaganda) and manipulation of information by Artificial Intelligence are the tools of authoritarianism.
This matters, because if we fail to understand the problem, we’ll never find the cure. All the digital detoxing and platform regulation in the world will never restore what was lost long before the internet became a publicly accessible medium. Far better, then, to face up to how we voluntarily dismantled the idea that some things should remain hidden, that mystery and restraint might be virtues, and that not everything must be shared.
The business models of technology giants like Google and Facebook, which base their revenue streams on the sale of data which they collect without consent (i.e. steal,) clearly violate people’s privacy, as does total surveillance by state or business agents. But we would be kidding ourselves if we thought that technology alone has undermined the moral status of privacy and private life. The wecams through which internet 'influencers' invite us into their world and wannabes seek the unhealthy attentions of obessives are the logical endpoint of a cultural revolution that began decades earlier.
Not everybody will share the scepticism of the Boggart Bloggers about “mass media” communications,
broadcast news and the majority of news comment and opinion – as good
for nothing beyond cheap entertainment that panders to the lowest common denominator while performative legislation by political groups, for example the UK Online Safety Bill, will suppress free speech (the purpose for which it was really intenden,) while doing nothing to make the www safer for users.
Many of us had already given up on the BBC before the extent of its far left and globalist bias was revealed and major print news publications such as
the Daily Telegraph and the Guardian as amusement-fodder as much as
anything. Although they do offer occasional insights into the passions
driving our fellow humans.
As founder and editor of the Boggrt Blog titles and a retired computer professional whose experience goes back to the days of punched cards and huge piles of printed output I, like many of my contemporaries marvel at how the potential of communications technology to destroy our privacy developed over the past fifty years has been abused, and the misuses it has been put to by the billionaire psychopaths of Silicon Valley, the scams, the junk phone calls (which would not be possible had the digitised telephone system not been integrated with the internet,) the data mining, propaganda and politically motivated lies.
It is hard to dis agree with the statement that 99.9% of ‘internet-based communications’ is
waffle, clickbait, advertising, porn or propaganda. But over the years, we learn how to filter most of that out and extract the gems that lie
buried in the shite.
As in life we must all, if we want to save the useful internet, take responsibility ourselves instead of leaving the task of cleaning up to others.

Now Canada-based LifeSite News is reporting that a bill going through the legislative process, backed by Prime Minister Carney, would establish
powers to cut off access to the internet of anyone the security serviices deem a dissident.
‘Bill C-8, which is now in its second reading in the Canadian House of
Commons, was introduced in June by Minister of Public Safety Gary
Anandasangaree and has a provision in which the federal government could
stop “any specified person” from accessing the internet,’ the report
says. ‘All that would be needed is the OK from Minister of Industry for an individual to be denied internet service.
Given that Canada has been one of the front runners in the push by governments to force its citizens to put all their financial and personal business online, to introduce a cashless society and to expand surveillance via digital technology, the sinister nature of this Bill, titled An Act respecting cyber security, amending the Telecommunications Act and making consequential amendments to other Acts, becomes clear, especially as it contains a clause that mandates all internet providers to pull
internet services from anyone whom the government fingers as being 'off - message.'.

A few days ago I signed a petition requesting the UK government to reconsider their plan to introduce a Digital ID system. At the time the petition had gathered 2.7 million signatures in a short time, and had vastly exceeded the
threshold — 100,000 — for parliamentary consideration. The plans have
been decried by political figures ranging from the hard Left (Jeremy
Corbyn) to the populist Right (Robert Jenrick) and has sparked arevolt among Labour MPs. Keir Starmer and senior ministers in his (National?) Socialist government response by claiming that the new IDs, not cards but apps on a smartphone, are designed to control illegal immigration and prevent non citizens working illegally rather than to increase surveillance and tighten the control of the state on law-abiding citizens.
Hardly anybody believes that claim of course, trust in government had collapsed beore even the cuurent lot took over from the previous clown show. But the more significant phenomenon
is not the particular tendencies of this or that politician: it is the
struggle of this government, and of all modern governments, to maintain
control of information in an age when the internet has begun to pose a
dangerous threat to that control. Today, information can be distributed
far more easily, widely and quickly than in history’s most searing
periods of revolution. It is a reality that traditional mechanisms of
government find hard to accept — a discord that can have devastating
consequences.
Seen through this lens, the recent flare-ups of the free speech debate — the arrest of Graham Linehan for repeating a scientifically irrefutable fact, the reprimanding of Starmer by
Donald Trump over free speech in the UK, the introduction of the Online
Safety Act — can all be understood as responses to the challenges to
government posed by the new technology. Societies across the globe are
still digesting an extraordinary change, and the crises spreading across
the world are in part a reaction to it.
It is beginning to look as if if the whole migrant crisis was engineered solely to provide a case for the introduction of Digital ID which can then be linked to tax, health records, policing and justice systems and many other databases. It is an idea that has ben around a long time. Blair wanted it. There was a massive campaign against. They

Of course this is pure speculation and I

mighty suspicious. And honestly, once you bear in mind that we're
talking about an Orwellian national identity database which the Prime
Minister has openly stated will be used to decide whether or not you may
be permitted to earn a living, is it really that absurd?

After 30 year career in Information Technology I seem to have gained immunity to scare stories or predictions of a Cyberutopia based on the rise of “digital authoritarianism” or “algocracy—rule by algorithm.”

involves the use of information technology to surveil, repress, and
manipulate the populace, overriding human rights and civil liberties, and corrupting the foundational principles of democratic

How do we protect our privacy against the growing menace of technological overreach
and the usurpation by a technological sector working with the government or our liberty and personal sovereignty?

In 2024, at least 37 US federal government agencies ranging from the
Departments of Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs to Health and
Human Services reported more than 1700 uses of AI in carrying out their work,
double from the year before. Likewise British and European governments began to openly discuss how AI could be used to improve heathcare, monitor criminal activity, eradicate tax evasion, suppress dissent, clamp down on 'hate crime' and advance 'net zero' agendas.
That little list does not even begin to touch on
agencies and NGOs that did not report their usage of AI technologies at
local levels.
I take issue with the use of the term “Artificial Intelligence” as
well the notion that the machines make “decisions” . As soon as we
adopt the language of the propagandists we endanger our own human
consciousness and awareness, especially if we use the terms the machines
come to produce and replicate. Pull the plug on digital machines by
refusing to think and speak in techno promo terms.
What’s shocking that there is so little opposition to imposing AI
authority over people. As long as AI is assigned neither authority nor
credibility or infallibility but solely advising role danger of
enslaving people is not as huge or imminent although still eminent.
However the real problem is that people surrender their moral
autonomy that gives them unalienable right/responsibility to investigate
reality in order to draw conclusions by themselves and deny themselves
moral authority of ethical judgment of such conclusions in context of
our humanity.
If people totally blindly resign themselves to human authority they
will easily embrace AI authority as by either they abandon their own
moral autonomy and authority.
So it’s not AI technology that must be targeted but any attempts to
give it authority that overrides human authority and any credibility
that overrides human credibility which we know is fallible and which
essentially what makes us human.
For example AI face recognition of a suspect should have no more
perhaps less legal weight than suspect identification by a witness which
testimony we know may be mistaken or deceiving. So AI should be
assigned such deceiving quality as well simply because it’s based on
statistical models producing not accurate but approximate outcomes
within defined margin of error.
And please stop using term Artificial intelligence (just AI
technology) as after three thousand years of philosophy trying to define
it we still don’t know what human intelligence really is.
AI is a current buzzphrase but has little tangible meaning, computers are not intelligent, they cannot reason or indulge in abstract thought, nor can they truly
generate original content. All AI systems do is parse data, match strings and identify patterns, just like the first computer I worked on in the late 1960s. My program was loaded from punched paper tape, the machine had 128k RAM and we programmer / operators ran around like ants on speed changing disks and mounting or demounting tapes. Today's supercomputers are have gigabyes of memory and are immeasurably faster but work in exactly the same way. And though they can parse millions of words in a fraction of a second they still do not have a clue what any of those words means. Artificial Intelligence is as incapable of extracting meaning from a sentence, paragraph or article as any mechanical device made of cogs and springs. And when nerds talk of their AI systems 'creating' content what the software does is simply disassemble, then
reassemble bits and pieces to come up with something not new, not original, but edited differently – i.e.
synthetic art, plagiarised texts, ….?
I still think we have more to fear from the living beings, whatever
“they” are, who are driving us towards this artificial world than any
computer. Just like we need not fear the gun, but the mindset of the
human who operates it.
We, as a culture, are so far removed from ever
addressing the causes of knife crime that is epidemic on the sreets of our cities, that there are now moves to ban knife sales to
under 18 year olds because of the knife attacks that have been occurring
in some sections of society of late. But how can any intelligent being think banning sales of knives to certain democraphics as a solution, when any steak knife from home
would do the same job, and instead of taking a closer look at who we let
into the country.
We need an urgent solution to how we can rid ourselves of these human
and non-human parasites that are enforcing all of the smart machinery. But perhaps I am missing the point, what if The Powers That Be, having finally understood that machines can never be intelligent in the way humans are, now plan to achieve their goal by making humans as dumb as machines are.

Does the U.K. support the treaty? Well, in May 2022, the Government responded to the petition, stating it supported “a new legally-binding instrument.”
Government support that is pledged despite not knowing the substance of what is being proposed: the Government supports a new treaty “as part of a cooperative and comprehensive approach to pandemic prevention, preparedness and response”.
We do know a little more now however and to put the scope of the treaty bluntly and in the briefest possible way, those nations which support it have agreed to accept the authority of the WHO on matters of health, and the WHO alone will have the power to declare a pandemic. What’s shocking that there is so little opposition to imposing AI authority over people. As long as AI is assigned neither authority nor credibility or infallibility but solely advising role danger of enslaving people is not as huge or imminent although still eminent.
However the real problem is that people surrender their moral autonomy that gives them unalienable right/responsibility to investigate reality in order to draw conclusions by themselves and deny themselves moral authority of ethical judgment of such conclusions in context of our humanity.
If people totally blindly resign themselves to human authority they will easily embrace AI authority as by either they abandon their own moral autonomy and authority.
So it’s not AI technology that must be targeted but any attempts to give it authority that overrides human authority and any credibility that overrides human credibility which we know is fallible and which essentially what makes us human.
For example AI face recognition of a suspect should have no more perhaps less legal weight than suspect identification by a witness which testimony we know may be mistaken or deceiving. So AI should be assigned such deceiving quality as well simply because it’s based on statistical models producing not accurate but approximate outcomes within defined margin of error.
And please stop using term Artificial intelligence (just AI technology) as after three thousand years of philosophy trying to define it we still don’t know what human intelligence really is.
AI is a current buzzphrase but has little tangible meaning, computers are not intelligent, they cannot reason or indulge in abstract thought, nor can they truly generate original content. All AI systems do is parse data, match strings and identify patterns, just like the first computer I worked on in the late 1960s. My program was loaded from punched paper tape, the machine had 128k RAM and we programmer / operators ran around like ants on speed changing disks and mounting or demounting tapes. Today's supercomputers are have gigabyes of memory and are immeasurably faster but work in exactly the same way. And though they can parse millions of words in a fraction of a second they still do not have a clue what any of those words means. Artificial Intelligence is as incapable of extracting meaning from a sentence, paragraph or article as any mechanical device made of cogs and springs. And when nerds talk of their AI systems 'creating' content what the software does is simply disassemble, then reassemble bits and pieces to come up with something not new, not original, but edited differently – i.e. synthetic art, plagiarised texts, ….?
I still think we have more to fear from the living beings, whatever “they” are, who are driving us towards this artificial world than any computer. Just like we need not fear the gun, but the mindset of the human who operates it.
We, as a culture, are so far removed from ever addressing the causes of knife crime that is epidemic on the sreets of our cities, that there are now moves to ban knife sales to under 18 year olds because of the knife attacks that have been occurring in some sections of society of late. But how can any intelligent being think banning sales of knives to certain democraphics as a solution, when any steak knife from home would do the same job, and instead of taking a closer look at who we let into the country.
We need an urgent solution to how we can rid ourselves of these human and non-human parasites that are enforcing all of the smart machinery. But perhaps I am missing the point, what if The Powers That Be, having finally understood that machines can never be intelligent in the way humans are, now plan to achieve their goal by making humans as dumb as machines are.
