German Green Party Will Pay For Prostitutes For Migrants Needing "Sexual Assistance"

With widespread civil unrest due to Haufrau Volksfuhrer Merkel's 'open doors' immigration policy and German women afraid to go out alone because of the epidemic of rapes and sexual assaults on European women by recently arrived immigrats from the third world, and with elections looming, Germany's Green Party have come up with a rather novel but still politically correct way to meet the needs of the sex starved immigrants. If the Greens win the election their government will ask taxpayers to fund prostitutes for the sexually incontinent third works satyrs.

German Green  Party’s care spokeswoman Elisabeth Scharfenberg says doctors should have the right to issue the free prescriptions to their patients for ladies of the night. Thus anyone too poor (i.e. those living on benefits or people who have been told by a Soros funded immigrant organisation that everything is free in Europe) will be able to visit a doctor and say, "Help me Doc, I ain't had a shag for three hours. The Green Party policy statement said:

Sex with prostitutes will be paid for by the Government for anyone too poor for a hooker and deemed to need sexual assistance under German Green Party plans.

  Prostitution is legal in Germany and carries little of the taboos associated with it in many other countries.There are brothels in virtually every town.
‘I can imagine a public financing of sexual assistance,’ Scharfenberg said in an article in the Welt am Sonntag newspaper.

The Greens’ plans consists of patients obtaining a medical certificate confirming that ‘they are unable to achieve sexual satisfaction in other ways, as well as to prove they are not able to pay sex workers on their own’.

Scharfenberg said: ‘Municipalities could discuss appropriate offers on site and grants they would need.’

Bearing in mind that it ain’t “free” if someone pays for it, will Germans think this scheme is a beneficial way of spending their tax money?
Forget all the whining about political parties that support immigration controls and oppose globalism being populist, this idea from uber - lefties The German Green Party is about as populist as it gets. Free prostitutes for the poor, if that's not buying votes it's hard to know what is.
The scheme would quickly become corrupted if take up in Britain however as the officials who administer it would keep the Shepherd's Market prostitutes (£500 an hour in a luxury apartment) for them selves and fob the punters off with King's Cross prostitutes ( £20 and find your own railings, and a free course of penicillin on the National Health.)

Sheeple Take Over Higher Education

After Donald Trump’s election, the howls of outrage emitting from universities in the Snowflake higher Education franchie corporation became deafening. Faculty members predicted the end of the world and thousands of classes were cancelleed because students felt too triggered to face even the highly diluted reality of their 'creative journalism with free dance' courses but simply hugged each other, repeatedly asking: How could this possibly be in the most politically correct nation on the planet?

Now I think the world had a lucky escape when America's electoral system rejected Hillary Clinton of The Clinton Crime Syndicate and Cappo Di Tutti Cappi of the Democratic Party, having decapitated anyone who stood in the way of her gaining the nomination President-elect Trump is not the most enthralling prospect (although there are signs he will be a hands - off president, content to delegate day - to day stuff) but the reaction of university staff and students bodes ill for the future of the USA and is further evidence of how detatched from the realities of everyday life universities have become. When students are encouraged to live in progressive bubbles and 'safe spaces' when they are protected from ever hearing working class voices using working class language, they might be filling their heads with lots of theory and pseudo - scientific bullshit but learn nothing about life and how business, government and human societies work in different political environments around the world. To be fully educated, indeed fully conscious students should encounter not Karl Marx, but also Milton Friedman.

Liberals have been highly adept at highlighting the hypocrisies of Trump, but has there ever been a more hypocritical candidate than Hillary Clinton (HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE). Liberals scream and shout about multiculturalism and diversity, but anybody who does not conform to the monoculture that exists on college campuses is ostracised and diversity is limited to differing skin colours only. Ideological and political differences are met with levels of bigotry and self righteousness that even Nazis would have objected to. Many surveys studies have found that about 10 percent of staff in social sciences or the humanities are Republicans and many stories have circulated of professors and lecturers being forced out of their jobs because they introduced ideas that did not conform to the dogma of politically correct thinking.

Democrats and liberals champion tolerance, but would deny (and in some colleges have denied) the right of free speech to conservatives and evangelical Christians. Thus they show a willingness to be inclusive of people who don’t look like us, so long as they think like us.

Liberal hostility to the Trump’s presidency will only turn up the volume in the liberal echo chambers of social media to eleven, thus creating a more hostile environment in which to try and discuss intelligently the issues we face. Already, the lack of ideological diversity in all levels of education and in the public sector is damaging national life. Left wing political rhetoric has long since collapsed into self-parody.

Some say that it’s O.K. to be intolerant of intolerance, to discriminate against bigots who acquiesce in Trump’s record of racism and misogyny. Standing up to the bigots is one thing but are the originators of intolerance not those who caricature half of Americans, some of whom voted for President Obama twice, as racist bigots simply because they believed the Democrat's candidate had too many question marks over her integrity and competence? Do the alternative reality dwelling denizens of America's higher education system know enough Trump voters to offer such generalised opinions of them.

The favourite argument of the Obama and Clinton supporters against intellectual diversity is that conservatives have nothing to add to the conversation. “The idea that conservative ideas are dumb is so preposterous that you have to live in an echo chamber to think of it,” conservative thinker Cass Sunstein said.

Of course, we shouldn’t empower racists and misogynists on campuses. But whatever some liberals think, “conservative” and “bigot” are not synonyms. If fact, though bigot has become the favourite pejorative of the left, from Obama downwards, few who use it truly understand what it means, preferring to believe the word describes those who differ from what is clearly correct in the eyes of all sane and educated people.

FAKe News alert: North Carolina bankrupted by chicks with dicks law?

I saw a story today which led on the headline (surely clickbait as the story does not at any point provide evidence to support the claim made):

North Carolina's Anti-LGBT Law Has Cost the State More Than $560 Million So Far.

So in order to make this story even slightly interesting I'd like to know can the author tell us exactly how the simple ruling that people with dicks use the men's facilities has cost the state $560 million. 

There is no indication that 1000 Gay BLTs have written to members of the state legislature to say either they decided to withhold $1000 state tax because perverts are not allowed to wave their dicks at little girls in North Carolina's public toilets, or a similar number went out of state to do their shopping before Christmas because they feel that their wives and daughter's civil rights will have been infringed because they are denied the chance to be confronted by the sight of some big, hairy arsed trucker who 'identifies' as a woman freshening up his lipstick and mascara.

Or perhaps the $560 million is the inward investment that would accrue should North Carolina replace California as the global capital of Crazy.

I notice the source for the number cited in this story is the New York Times which is a top contender for the title "World's top purveyor of Fake news," so I guess somebody just made it up.

Russian Hacking Fake News: U.S. Intel Chiefs Have History of Deceiving the Public Says Journalist

See a video of Investigative Journalist Glenn Greenwald's analysis of the track record of US National Security Services on matters of transparency and integrity when spiunning their covert agenda to the Us public and to the nations of the world in a recorded interview with Amy Goodman of Democracy Now.

Greenwald shines a light on the demonisation of Russia, the hopelessly botched attempts to stop President - elect Donald Trump from assuming the Presidency and the general lack of integrity in the US national security services. We all understand of course that by the nature of what they do, security agencies cannot publish details of their activities, but also they should not be political, they serve government and not the party in government. Also we have a right to require that security services and indeed any government agencies do not involve themselves in criminal activities such as hacking, kidnapping and engineering 'sting' operations to discredit political activists and curtail free speech.

AMY GOODMAN: Well, Glenn, on Friday, President-elect Trump is meeting with CIA Director John Brennan, FBI Director James Comey and the DNI’s, the director of national intelligence’s, James Clapper, as they brief him, summarize what the 17 intelligence agencies say. Tell us who these three men are.

GLENN GREENWALD: Well, interestingly, James Comey has become, after Vladimir Putin, probably the most despised villain in the Democratic narrative about what happened in the election. In fact, after the election, Hillary Clinton blamed not Putin or WikiLeaks, but Comey, for why she lost, because of the letter that he wrote shortly before the election, in which he said that he—the FBI was essentially reopening the investigation into whether she broke the law through the use of her emails. Comey was a Bush administration Justice Department official who was appointed not by George Bush, but by Barack Obama, to be the FBI director.

John Brennan was also a Bush-era CIA official, who is a supporter not of all aspects of the Bush torture program, but some aspects of it, including rendition and other interrogation techniques that are widely regarded as torture. And he was made the national security adviser in the Obama White House after Obama tried to make him CIA director in the beginning, and liberals objected and blocked his nomination, but he ultimately became CIA director. So these are Obama appointees who are running these agencies, even though they were high-level Bush officials in the middle of important, controversial war on terror policies. And they have a long history—not just their agencies, but they themselves—of approving legally dubious, if not outright illegal, programs and lying to and deceiving the public. And so, there are no angels in any of these machinations that are taking place as these various factions vie for power in this new scheme in Washington.

AMY GOODMAN: But who Donald Trump should find a lot of common ground with, who also wants to expand torture techniques, as he said, expand Guantánamo, his own appointees.

GLENN GREENWALD: Well, I mean, I think, in fairness to people like James Comey and John Brennan and other people in the CIA and in the Pentagon, a lot of those people who became either actively involved in or in a more passively complicit way part of some of the more extreme war on terror programs actually did come to regret it, either on moral and legal grounds or just pragmatic grounds, that they realized that the U.S.—that U.S. interests are undermined if they’re doing things like operating black sites and torture camps all over the world. And, in fact, Brennan and other leading members of the CIA have even said, including Michael Hayden, that some of the things Donald Trump has said he wants to do, like murder the families of terror suspects or reintroduce even more extreme forms of torture, are such forms of war criminality that the CIA and the military would refuse to follow those orders. So there is a significant part of that world that thinks that Trump has gone too far or will go too far. But there are also—and that includes, actually, the person that he wants to make his defense secretary, which is General Mattis, who is a pretty outspoken opponent, actually, of the reintroduction of torture. But there are also some really unhinged extremists in that world, like Michael Flynn, obviously John Bolton, others who may end up with influence within the Trump administration who want to do all of that and even worse. And so, there is this jockeying for power over who it is who’s going to have what levels of influence in what the U.S. government and the Trump administration does. And we still simply don’t know who’s going to prevail among these factions.

AMY GOODMAN: And what role do movements play in this now, Glenn?

GLENN GREENWALD: So, I think that—I think the most important thing is that, you know, you have things like the Constitution that are supposed to impose limits on what even a deranged leader can do. You have courts that are supposed to check that and Congress that is supposed to check that and the media that is supposed to check that—all of which have failed. And I think the only truly effective check against true abuse of power is popular revolt, popular protest. But in order for that to work, it can’t just be confined to some sort of partisan movement. Remember, you had huge marches against the Iraq War in cities like San Francisco and New York and Washington and Los Angeles in 2003 that were ignored because they were viewed mostly as just liberal or Democratic supporters, and therefore viewed through a partisan prism. It has to be a kind of transpartisan movement, where the American population really stands up and says, "This is not about ideology. This is about the choice between democracy and authoritarianism. And we choose democracy." And I do think that, ultimately, only popular movements are the kinds of force that can really put a meaningful check on things Trump wants to do.

US Democrats Self Pity Proves Neitzsche’s Point About The Abyss

After the failure of pre – election efforts to discredit Donald Trump, get Wikileaks shut down, failure to prove massive voter fraud by the Republicans, failure of the attempt by Green Party willing dupe Jill stein, acting as a proxy for the discredited Hillary Clinton campaign and not the failure of the last ditch bid by the Democratic National Committee to back up its ludicrous claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin fixed the election for Trump, Clinton supporters are still refusing to believe their candidate ‘Crooked Hillary’ lost. And it is making them a laughing stock.

The case is that the boy Neitzsche was absolutely right when he said that if you spend too much time staring into the abyss there is a kind of emotional feedback loop. I don’t fully endorse the interpretation of the the abyss gazes also into you that you will find in this link, but a news blog is not the place for a detailed discussion on philosophy, so we’ll just say it’s close enough for jazz.

Instead of accepting defeat, the Democrats on the east and west coasts of the USA have spent the past month staring into the abyss and trying to find reasons outside their own candidate and campaign to blame for their downfall. And as they stare into that black hole at the bottom of which lies political oblivion, te instinctive conclusion that there is no way out of their predicament has diven them crazy. In a final, desperate act, the party demanded that US security agencies investigate a totally ludicrous allegation that Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, fixed the election for Trump by hacking the Democrats internet servers to obtain emails damaging to Hillary Clinton and members of her campaign team, hijacking the electronic voting machines used in some US states, and by personally manipulating millions of Americans into voting for Trump by making them watch video clips from Russia Today on YouTube.

Donald Trump’s response to the Democrats wailing and gnashing of teeth has been disparaging even by his standards, as he took to his favourite medium, Twitter.

One day after Trump issued an official response to the US intelligence community’s report in which it concluded that Putin personally manipulated millions of Americans into voting for Trump instead of Hillary by watching RT YouTube clips, and he stated that while he has “tremendous respect for the work and service done by the men and women of this community” he added “there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election including the fact that there was no tampering whatsoever with voting machines”, he has resumed his vendetta with both the Democrats and the US intelligence agencies on a less formal – and his preferred by far – setting, Twitter.

In a couple of tweets early Saturday morning, Trump once again downplayed the Russian influence, stating that there was no evidence the hacking affected election results, and repeated the punchline from his official response, saying ” there was absolutely no evidence that hacking affected the election results. In a follow up tweet moments later, Trump stated that Democrats were continuing to make a fuss about the “hacking of the poorly defended DNC” is because they ‘lost so big” they are “totally embarrassed” by the election results.

Prior to the Saturday morning mini tweetstorm, on Friday evening Trump tweeted that “gross negligence by the Democratic National Committee had allowed the hacking by Russia.”

The reason behind Trump’s ongoing war with the intelligence agencies and the DNC is clear: with the report, and the ongoing media narrative, US intelligence services continue to delegitimize Trump’s victory, by asserting that he was the favored candidate of Russia, and that Moscow ran a sophisticated operation to try to influence the election, taking away from Trump’s victory.

And while the report did not conclude that the Russian interference tipped the scales to Trump, who defeated Hillary Clinton in the electoral college with surprise wins in the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, the constant tit-for-tat with Russia makes Trump’s win, at least in his eyes, seem less important.

But neither the Democrtatic Party nor the security agencies have offered any evidence to suggest Russia was involved in trying to influence the outcome of the election. In fact the allegations themselves (which have not been backed up) suggest that any attempt at hacking the democrats computers must have been carried out by a couple of spotty, hormonal, Beavis and Butthead type fifteen year old wannabe nerds in a basement somewhere in downtown Poughkeepsie. Here’s what John McAfee, one of the leading cybersecurity experts in the commercial (i.e. competent) sector wrote about it:

“Russia, with it’s high level of sophistication in cyber-warfare, would never be stupid enough to leave the very obvious fingerprints that US Intelligence cites as the foundation of their case for Russian involvement in the DNC hacks. In other words, this isn’t how state actors penetrate networks and perform espionage.

McAfee specifically pointed to the following key arguments in the Grizzly Steppe report:

1. Russian language was found in the malware – which would make them borderline retarded.
2.  A Cyrillic (Russian language) keyboard was used to create the malware.
3. The compiler (piece of software that finalizes the malware) time stamped the malware during Russian business hours.
4. IP address pointed to Russia – again, they’d have to be fairly new at hacking to do something like that.

All of which are the hallmarks of a 15 year old kid acting alone, or a poorly fabricated body of evidence. (Zero Hedge)


And finally to the US intelligence agencies themselves  because in reponse to President Elect Trump’s criticisms they released a more “authoritative”, 25-page report, titled “Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent US Elections“, which only serves to validate the narrative published by Fake News mainstream media concluding that Russian President Vladimir Putin ‘ordered‘ an effort to influence U.S. presidential election.

Specifically, the report concludes the following:

We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump.

What proof is there? Sadly, again, none. However, as the intelligence agencies state, “We have high confidence in these judgments“… just like they had high confidence that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. And high confidence that Syria’s Assad regime was responsible for chemical weapons attacks and the shelling of hospitals and civilian areas, when it had already been proved that US backed terrorists were responsible for both atrocities.
And while the report is severely lacking in any evidence, it is rich in judgments, such as the following:

• We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. We have high confidence in these judgments.
• We also assess Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton and publicly contrasting her unfavorably to him. All three agencies agree with this judgment.

At this point a quick detour, because the intel agencies responsible for drafting the report then explain how “confident” they are: “CIA and FBI have high confidence in this judgment; NSA has moderate confidence.”
What do these distinctions mean?  

• High confidence generally indicates judgments based on high-quality information, and/or the nature of the issue makes it possible to render a solid judgment. However, high confidence judgments still carry a risk of being wrong.
• Moderate confidence generally means credibly sourced and plausible information, but not of sufficient quality or corroboration to warrant a higher level of confidence.

In other words, while not carrying the infamous DHS disclaimer according to which last week’s entire joint FBI/DHS report is likely garbage, the US intel agencies admit they may well be “wrong.”

When a CBC political reporter asked Americans if they believe Wikileaks or Government Intelligence Services he did not het the answer he wanted.

CNBC Political reporter, friend of Hillary, and Democratic Party sycophant John Harwood took to Twitter last night to ask:

"Who do you believe America? Wikileaks, or US Intel Officials?"

The response is yet another 'eff off' for the establishment and their smug belief that they can still manipulate public opinion....

We should always take informal, online polls with a pinch of salt of course, the lack of sample control make them totally unreliable. But they are fun sometimes. And the result here demonstrated to the incredulous, whining supporters of Hillary Clinton who still can't believe she lost, just why a dick like Trump is about to become President while Hillary occupies space in the waste bin of history. When will these people wake up to the fact that no sane person likes big government or trusts its agencies such as the CIA or FBI, or its advocates in the media?

As Trump tweeted earlier this week: "It is for the American people to make up their minds as to the truth."

Why shouldn't people believe Wikileaks over the government, politicians and mainstream media? The establishment and its agencies give us propaganda and fake news, Wikileaks does appear to have authenticated information.  People who are on the receiving end, like hillary, Podesta and The DNC have never dared claim it is fabricated.
  
Just this week we have heard a lot of screaming and shouting about Russian hackers stealing the election for Trump. Some say it was a last ditch attempt by the Democrats and The Clinton Crime Syndicate to steal the election. It failed. After an Intelligence briefing this week, Donald Trump issued as statement to the effect that outside agencies had no effect on the election results.
President-elect Trump has issued a statement following his briefing with various intelligence agencies over the Russian hacking allegations, seemingly rejecting the Democrats' charges that it was the Russians alone and that it had any effect on the outcome of the election.

Additionally, Trump promised to appoint a team to give him a plan to combat cyber attacks within 90 days of taking office.

So do Russia and other foreign governments launch cyber attacks on the USA? 
Of course they do.

And do the US, European and NATO governments conduct cyber attacks against Russia and its allies?
Of course they do. 

It's time Obama, Clinton, Biden and the rest, and all their cronies in mainstream media grew up.

That was the way it was back in the distant days of the year 2000.
In 2016, Republicans control both legislative chambers in 32 states. That’s up from 16 in 2000.
What happened to the big donkey? Among other things, the Democrats decided to sell their base and their soul to a very bad billionaire and they got a very bad deal for both.
It was 2004. The poncho was the hottest fashion trend, there were 5 million new cases of AIDS and a former Nazi collaborator had bought the Democrat Party using the spare change in his sofa cushions.

It's A Bit Pointless To Talk About Obama Being Impeached At This Stage

There is no doubt that in the final three weeks of his presidency, the terrorist loving, civilisation hating cocksucker president in the USA, Barack Hussein Obama, is trying to damage his country as much as he can. People should not complain about that, back in 2008 he did spell out very clearly his hatred of America and everything it stood for, his fondness for Islam, particularly Islamic extremist and his support for all terrorists (to the extent of pardoning convicted terrorists and setting them free to resume their careers of death and destruction in the USA) whether their cause is just or not.

But article like the one embedded below from Liberty Writers are quite pointless really. With only three weeks of his second term left, there simply is not time to organise the process that would be required to remove him from office. Far better to wait, and then simply nullify all his executive orders on the grounds that they are unconstitutional and beyond the scope of the president's authority.

Demonizing Trump For Obama's Failures

Having a cursory look round news sites this morning, because us Boggart Blogger decided to give ourselves a few days off over the holiday period (we'll be back from January 3rd after recovering from the New Year celebrations), I came across this anonymous quote about the imminent ascent of Donald Trump to the US Presidency:

The web is full of people trying to bash Trump via comment sections, even on alt media venues. I am sure you have heard how he is totally in bed with the Jews, and Goldman Sachs, and how is kids are garbage, and how he’s a buffoon, and yada yada yada. I ignore it. Want to know why? Because proven despicable monsters hate him. And that means he’s a better option than what they want all by itself.

It is absolutely right of course, not only are the Obama administration's propaganda department and the globalist dominated mainstream media in the democratic nations determined to discredit Trump, while most alt-media news and comment websites and blogs are more open minded, if not exactly sympathetic. This blog for example feels a lot of people are going to be disappointed with President Trump's efforts to 'make America great again as were disappointed with President Obama's promise of 'hope and change' which turned out to mean more war, more civil unrest and more of the same in every aspect of government.

What is notable about the army of leftie trolls in comment threads is they are not only calling for a coup d'etat to usurp the democratic process, but they are also blaming Trump, who is not yet sworn in as president, for the foreign policy disasters of Obama's eight years of failure and incompetence.

Nobody Expects The Politically Correct Inquisition

This blog has reported on the elite's attempts to suppress Free Speech thoughout the democtaic world. All those of us who have been paying attention have read in mainstream news or heard on TV or radio politicians from barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, Germany's Angela Merkel, President francois Hollande of France, top EU bureaucrats like Jean - Clause Juncker and Martin Schulz, and non political figures as diverse as financir George Soros and Holloywood luvvie Leonardo Di Caprio calling for the control of news and censorship of the internet to shiut down open debate on topics like climate change, migration and globalisation.

We have also heard of pop scientists like Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Bill Nye the Science Guy and astrophysicist Brian Cox stamping their petuland little feet and demanding that modern science, like the medieval church be protected from critical examination or questioning. We have also seen scientists who go against the dogma of this Church of Sciencology have their reputations destroyed and their careers trashed. And for what? Doing what scientists should do by questioning the orthodoxy.

Europe's New 'Blasphemy Courts' Exposed

• Europe is currently seeing the reintroduction of blasphemy laws through both the front and back doors, initiated in a country which once prided itself on being among the first in the world to throw off clerical intrusion into politics.

• By prosecuting Wilders, the courts in Holland are effectively ruling that there is only one correct answer to the question Wilders asked. They are saying that if someone asks you whether you would like more Moroccans or fewer, people must always answer "more," or he will be committing a crime.
•  
• At no point would it occur to me that anyone saying he did not want an endless flow of, say, British people coming into the Netherlands should be prosecuted. Nor would he be.
•  
• The long-term implications for Dutch democracy of criminalising a majority opinion are catastrophic. But the trial of Wilders is also a nakedly political move.
•  
• The Dutch courts are behaving like a religious court. They are trying to regulate public expression and opinion when it comes to the followers of one religion. In so doing they obviously aspire to keep the peace in the short term, but they cannot possibly realise what trouble they are storing up for our future.

Europe is currently seeing the reintroduction of blasphemy laws through both the front and back doors. In Britain, the gymnast Louis Smith has just been suspended for two months by British Gymnastics. This 27-year old sportsman's career has been put on hold, and potentially ruined, not because of anything to do with athletics but because of something to do with Islam.

Last month a video emerged online of the four-time Olympic medal-winner and a friend getting up to drunken antics after a wedding.  

The video -- taken on Smith's phone in the early hours of the morning -- showed a friend taking a rug off a wall and doing an imitation of Islamic prayer rituals. When the video from Smith's phone ended up in the hands of a newspaper, there was an immediate investigation, press castigation and public humiliation for the young athlete. Smith -- who is himself of mixed race -- was forced to parade on daytime television in Britain and deny that he is a racist, bigot or xenophobe. Notoriously liberal figures from the UK media queued up to berate him for getting drunk or for even thinking of taking part in any mockery of religion. This in a country in which Monty Python's Life of Brian is regularly voted the nation's favourite comic movie.

After an "investigation," the British sports authority has now deemed Smith's behaviour to warrant a removal of funding and a two-month ban from sport. This is the re-entry of blasphemy laws through the back door, where newspapers, daytime chat-shows and sports authorities decide between them that one religion is worthy of particular protection. They do so because they take the religion of Islam uniquely on its own estimation and believe, as well as fear, the warnings of the Islamic blasphemy-police worldwide.

The front-door reintroduction of blasphemy laws, meantime, is being initiated in a country which once prided itself on being among the first in the world to throw off clerical intrusion into politics. The Dutch politician Geert Wilders has been put on trial before. In 2010 he was tried in the courts for the contents of his film "Fitna" as well as a number of articles. The trial collapsed after one of the expert witnesses -- the late, great Dutch scholar of Islam, Hans Jansen -- revealed that a judge in the case had tried in private to influence him to change his testimony. The trial was transparently rigged and made Dutch justice look like that of a tin-pot dictatorship rather than one of the world's most developed democracies. The trial was rescheduled and, after considerable legal wrangling, Wilders was eventually found "not guilty" of a non-crime in 2011.

But it seems that the Dutch legal system, like the Mounties, is intent on always getting its man. On Monday of this week the latest trial of Geert Wilders got underway in Holland. This time Wilders is being tried because of a statement at a rally in front of his supporters in March 2014. Ahead of municipal elections, and following reports of a disproportionate amount of crimes being committed in Holland by Muslims of Moroccan origin, Wilders asked a crowd, "Do you want more or fewer Moroccans in this city and in the Netherlands?" The audience responded, "Fewer, fewer." To which Wilders responded, "Well, we'll arrange that, then."

Opinion polls suggest that around half the Dutch public want fewer Moroccans in the Netherlands and many opinion polls going back decades suggest that the Dutch people want less immigration in general. So at the very least Wilders is being put on trial for voicing an opinion which is far from fringe. The long-term implications for Dutch democracy of criminalizing a majority opinion are catastrophic. But the trial of Wilders is also a nakedly political move.

Whether or not one feels any support for Wilders's sentiments is not in fact the point in this case. The point is that by prosecuting someone for saying what he said, the courts in Holland are effectively ruling that there is only one correct answer to the question Wilders asked. They are saying that if someone asks you whether you would like more Moroccans or fewer, people must always answer "more," or they will be committing a crime. What kind of way is that to order a public debate on immigration or anything else? People may say, "He wouldn't be allowed to say that about any other group of people." And Wilders himself may not say that about any group of people, because he has his own political views and his own interpretation of the problems facing his country.

It is worth trying a thought-experiment: If Wilders or any other politician got up and asked a crowd "Do you want more or fewer British people in Holland," I may not -- as a British person -- feel terribly pleased with him for asking the question, or terribly happy with the crowd if they chanted "Fewer." Although if British expats in Holland were responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime and disorder in the country, some mitigating sympathy for the sentiment may be forthcoming. But at no point would it occur to me that anyone saying he did not want an endless flow of British people coming into the Netherlands should be prosecuted. Nor would he be.

Like the behaviour of the British Gymnastics association, the Dutch courts are behaving like a religious court. They are trying to regulate public expression and opinion when it comes to the followers of one religion. In so doing, they obviously aspire to keep the peace in the short term, but they cannot possibly realise what trouble they are storing up for our future.
