After the failure of pre – election efforts to discredit Donald Trump, get Wikileaks shut down, failure to prove massive voter fraud by the Republicans, failure of the attempt by Green Party willing dupe Jill stein, acting as a proxy for the discredited Hillary Clinton campaign and not the failure of the last ditch bid by the Democratic National Committee to back up its ludicrous claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin fixed the election for Trump, Clinton supporters are still refusing to believe their candidate ‘Crooked Hillary’ lost. And it is making them a laughing stock.
The case is that the boy Neitzsche was absolutely right when he said that if you spend too much time staring into the abyss there is a kind of emotional feedback loop. I don’t fully endorse the interpretation of the the abyss gazes also into you that you will find in this link, but a news blog is not the place for a detailed discussion on philosophy, so we’ll just say it’s close enough for jazz.
One day after Trump issued an official response to the US intelligence community’s report in which it concluded that Putin personally manipulated millions of Americans into voting for Trump instead of Hillary by watching RT YouTube clips, and he stated that while he has “tremendous respect for the work and service done by the men and women of this community” he added “there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election including the fact that there was no tampering whatsoever with voting machines”, he has resumed his vendetta with both the Democrats and the US intelligence agencies on a less formal – and his preferred by far – setting, Twitter.
In a couple of tweets early Saturday morning, Trump once again downplayed the Russian influence, stating that there was no evidence the hacking affected election results, and repeated the punchline from his official response, saying ” there was absolutely no evidence that hacking affected the election results. Voting machines not touched!”
In a follow up tweet moments later, Trump stated that Democrats were continuing to make a fuss about the “hacking of the poorly defended DNC” is because they ‘lost so big” they are “totally embarrassed” by the election results.
Prior to the Saturday morning mini tweetstorm, on Friday evening Trump tweeted that “gross negligence by the Democratic National Committee had allowed the hacking by Russia.”
The reason behind Trump’s ongoing war with the intelligence agencies and the DNC is clear: with the report, and the ongoing media narrative, US intelligence services continue to delegitimize Trump’s victory, by asserting that he was the favored candidate of Russia, and that Moscow ran a sophisticated operation to try to influence the election, taking away from Trump’s victory.
And while the report did not conclude that the Russian interference tipped the scales to Trump, who defeated Hillary Clinton in the electoral college with surprise wins in the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, the constant tit-for-tat with Russia makes Trump’s win, at least in his eyes, seem less important.
But neither the Democrtatic Party nor the security agencies have offered any evidence to suggest Russia was involved in trying to influence the outcome of the election. In fact the allegations themselves (which have not been backed up) suggest that any attempt at hacking the democrats computers must have been carried out by a couple of spotty, hormonal, Beavis and Butthead type fifteen year old wannabe nerds in a basement somewhere in downtown Poughkeepsie. Here’s what John McAfee, one of the leading cybersecurity experts in the commercial (i.e. competent) sector wrote about it:
“Russia, with it’s high level of sophistication in cyber-warfare, would never be stupid enough to leave the very obvious fingerprints that US Intelligence cites as the foundation of their case for Russian involvement in the DNC hacks. In other words, this isn’t how state actors penetrate networks and perform espionage.
McAfee specifically pointed to the following key arguments in the Grizzly Steppe report:
- Russian language was found in the malware – which would make them borderline retarded.
- A Cyrillic (Russian language) keyboard was used to create the malware.
- The compiler (piece of software that finalizes the malware) time stamped the malware during Russian business hours.
- IP address pointed to Russia – again, they’d have to be fairly new at hacking to do something like that.
All of which are the hallmarks of a 15 year old kid acting alone, or a poorly fabricated body of evidence. (Zero Hedge)
And finally to the US intelligence agencies themselves because in reponse to President Elect Trump’s criticisms they released a more “authoritative”, 25-page report, titled “Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent US Elections“, which only serves to validate the narrative published by Fake News mainstream media concluding that Russian President Vladimir Putin ‘ordered‘ an effort to influence U.S. presidential election.
Specifically, the report concludes the following:
We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump.
What proof is there? Sadly, again, none. However, as the intelligence agencies state, “We have high confidence in these judgments“… just like they had high confidence that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. And high confidence that Syria’s Assad regime was responsible for chemical weapons attacks and the shelling of hospitals and civilian areas, when it had already been proved that US backed terrorists were responsible for both atrocities.
And while the report is severely lacking in any evidence, it is rich in judgments, such as the following:
- We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. We have high confidence in these judgments.
- We also assess Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton and publicly contrasting her unfavorably to him. All three agencies agree with this judgment.
At this point a quick detour, because the intel agencies responsible for drafting the report then explain how “confident” they are: “CIA and FBI have high confidence in this judgment; NSA has moderate confidence.”
What do these distinctions mean?
- High confidence generally indicates judgments based on high-quality information, and/or the nature of the issue makes it possible to render a solid judgment. However, high confidence judgments still carry a risk of being wrong.
- Moderate confidence generally means credibly sourced and plausible information, but not of sufficient quality or corroboration to warrant a higher level of confidence.
In other words, while not carrying the infamous DHS disclaimer according to which last week’s entire joint FBI/DHS report is likely garbage, the US intel agencies admit they may well be “wrong.”
