In the belief that atmospheric CO₂ is the control knob of ‘dangerous’ impending climate change, Net Zero emerged in the 2010s as the global rallying cry to ‘save the planet’. By the time the Paris Agreement was concluded in 2015, the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) established the arbitrary 1.5°C limit on global temperature increase and established the ‘Net Zero by 2050’ policy target for developed countries around the globe.

But a spate of recent headlines suggests that the ‘Net Zero by 2050’ policy is falling apart. There is a growing realisation across advanced economies that the grandiose project of achieving ‘Net Zero by 2050’ is collapsing under the weight of its own contradictions. What was once heralded as a consensus across the political class, corporate boardrooms and multilateral agencies now looks increasingly like an edifice of ideology built on a vaporous, oxymoronic ‘consensus science‘. The rising tide of empirical reality — the costs of intermittent renewables, the geopolitical consequences of energy insecurity and the sheer scale of power demand growth from artificial intelligence infrastructure — has swept away the carefully constructed narrative of inevitability around the so-called energy transition.

Yet, as David Blackmon reminds us in his well-subscribed Energy Transition Absurdities Substack blog, “climate alarmism is demoralised but it is far from dead”. Scottish Wind Farm Paid More For Not Supplying Energy Than For Energy It Feeds Into The National Grid.

 

A story which broke this week in mainstream media revealed a British wind farm owned by France’s state energy company is being paid to throw away half the power it generates. The Dorenell onshore wind farm in Scotland, owned by EDF, had 50pc of its output “curtailed” in 2024 because the UK’s national grid was too congested to accept it.

However the project was still paid for the electricity that wasn’t used, leading to revenues of nearly £68m in the year, newly published accounts show. This has long been one of the complaints of 'clean green energy' sceptics. Beacuse of the intermittent nature of 'sustainable' energy sources the potential output of all wind farms must far exceed the highest levels of demand. Thus when conditions are favourable some wind generators must be decoupled from the national grid in order that the transformers and load balancing equipment will not be overwhelmed and fail. This is exactly what happened in Spain earlier this year, when grid equipment wrecked by overloads failed, causing a blaxkout lasting several days over a large part of the country.

Around £40m of the revenue earned for EDF by the Dornell wind farm last year came from payments to curtail its output, according to separate disclosures made by EDF in a court dispute.

The payments, which are ultimately incorporated in the cost of electricity to households and businesses, are an example of the grid balancing costs that were blamed this week for driving up domestic energy bills.

Ofgem, the industry regulator, said these types of costs were responsible for around £15 of a £35 increase to the energy price cap due to take effect in October, and dealt a major blow to Ed Miliband’s promise to lower bills by £300 per year and prompted questions about the hugely generous government subsidies handed to wind farms.

Constraint payments occur because most of Britain’s wind farms are located in Scotland and often generate far more electricity than can be used locally.

At the same time, the power network lacks capacity to store all the excess power or to transport it south, where most demand is located. This means grid operators often resort to curtailing the output of wind farms to keep the system balanced.

Renewable subsidies also incentivise wind farms to try to export power. In Dorenell’s case, accounts show the onshore wind farm was paid for 591,164 megawatt hours (MWh) of power in 2024. Only 297,137 MWh of this was actually exported – suggesting 294,027 MWh, or 49pc, was curtailed.

The wind farm has a CfD with an inflation-linked strike price of £82.50 per MWh in 2012 prices, worth about £112 per MWh in current prices.

Sam Taylor, who runs Scottish based UK Unionis think tank These Islands, said the huge amount of curtailment meant Dorenell was effectively paid £227 per MWh for the electricity it actually supplied to the grid last year.

If you're thinking the whole things sounds like economic insanity, you are not the only one,.in what way can being paid not to produce ever be justifiable? Producing to squeeze the proverbial quart into the pint pot was a nonsensical decision at the planning stage driven by dogma rather than need. Dishonesty is the least of it, basic IQ is lacking, verging on malpractice in government which can only by rectified by undoing of these bankrupting policies and payments and the removal of those in charge of this mess, from PM down.

Renewable energy should be self supporting, the subsidies we paying are basically another form of taxation to implement a policy that is looking increasingly unrealistic and imposdible to implement. There is little point in the UK reducing its C02 emissions beyond the 50% we have already achieved when globally these emissions have risen by 60% since we enacted the Climate Change Act.

The necessary changes to the grid and infrastructure to accommodate renewables are forecast to peak at £ 8 billion per year by 2030. We are being lied to and our energy bills will keep increasing, estroying in the process more British businesses and jobs as we become less and less able to compete in world markets

Alice Weidel, Leader Of Germany's AfD calls Brussels ‘openly corrupt’

 

 

Alice Weidel, co-leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party which is currently battling attempts by political rivals to have it banned as a threat to democraxy, says Germany is digging its own grave. Her words came during an interview Weidel gave to Hungary’s Patriot Extra program, covered by Mandiner.

According to the nationalist politician, the European Union has “completely degenerated,” does not represent nation states or sovereign peoples, and has now become a machine run by overpaid bureaucrats that only causes harm.

Weidel says Germany’s economic decline is rooted in domestic decisions. High energy prices, mass immigration, the green transition, and the phase-out of nuclear power have made German industry uncompetitive, especially the  motor industry, which she says is being deliberately destroyed by Brussels regulations.

“All the bad rules were made in Brussels,” she said, emphasizing that the ban on internal combustion engines and environmental sanctions benefit China and American companies, not European workers. According to Weidel, Germany and Europe need a free market where everyone can produce and buy what they want.

Weidel also said the German government was playing politics against the population, lying to people, and doing the opposite of what it promised, adding "European bureaucrats make decisions that harm citizens, but benefit a narrow circle of elites. Instead of developing its own industry, Germany is forced to buy American weapons for Ukraine, which proves the weakness of the EU.

"Nobody needs the conflict in Ukraine, the war only worsens the crisis in Europe. Brussels is acting in the interests of the United States, not the European nations."

Weidel also spoke of her belief that the EU has become a tool of globalists, and its leadership ignores democratic principles. If the trend continues, the European Union will collapse, either because of internal contradictions or because of the growing resistance of countries like Hungary.

United Nations Demands Worldwide Criminalisation Of Climate Scepticism

 

 

For the first time in a few decades The Green Blob seem to be on the backfoot and they are getting very panicky about it. The problem is, of course, that the ‘fact’ of  global warming becoming an existential threat to life on the planet, signalling the imminent extinction of the human race and everything else besides, is stubbornly refusing to happen. Although the arbitrary danger level of atmospheric CO2 (400 parts per million,) has now been passed warming, which over the past fifty years has been marginal, none of the catatrophies predicted by 'climate scientists; has happened. In fact the deserts are shrinking, the planet is getting greener, crop yields are higher, humanity is thriving, and that worse – far worse – people are discussing it. 

The claims of ideological sciencology cults of all kinds championed by the United Nations, not just climate, are now being challenged by people on social media, and even in mainstream news media. And in response the Green Blob, or the global ‘censorship industrial complex‘, as it prefers to be known, is moving to shut down all discussion of climate matters that devites from the orthodox. The problem is that, the more they shift towards draconian interventions, the more they unwittingly signal their inability to understand the debates they wish to suppress.

At the end of June 2025, the UN Human Rights Council published a report by the agency’s “Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights in the context of climate change”, Elisa Morgera. After moving through the long preamble and its obligatory recitation of the climate litany – unimpeachable science… worst year ever… urgent necessity of climate action… blah blah blah – Morgera eventually arrives at her paradox. In order to protect human rights, human rights must be curtailed.

The General Public would more likely listen to people who were open to argument and discussion that those whose position when questioned is, "If you do not agree with us you do not understand the issue therefore what's the point of talking to you. This shows not only the  arrogance but the stupidity of thse people, the moment they claim to occupy the high ground and try to shut down Joe Public is the moment tat Joe Public smells a rat and starts to look ever more deeply into the actions and agendas of the slt elected elites. When this happens the elite are usually exposed as either greedy, stupid grifters or political activists trying to set up a one part staye / global government. The “settled science” or “appeal to greater authority” was always and absolutely guaranteed to trigger a backlash. 

In spite of all the scaremongering the planet will survive regardless of what the science grifters and political charlatans do. What worries me is the impending civil strife these idiots will cause as they manade insane actions designed to impact the liberty and prosperity of those people our politicians and civil servants are employed to serve.

They are such arrogant arseholes that they believe people who work at proper jobs are incapable of discussion and analysis.

In fact their lunacy is beyond belief in that they simply don’t understand that if their argument is so watertight and it is opened to discussion then most people will accept it through rational thought and they will win the day.

The fact that they are using dishonest dictatorial methods to silence people speaks volumes. These are tactics reminiscent of Nazis and Communists.

UK Dumps Climate Madhouse Project To Harvest Sun And Wind Energy In The Sahara

 

 

It comes as little surprise that yet another grandiose techno-utopian vision has ended not with a triumphant march toward Net Zero, but with a flick of the off-switch. Last week, Britain’s energy secretary quietly announced that the government “has pulled the plug on a £24 billion plan to bring Moroccan wind and solar power to Britain via the world’s longest subsea electricity cable, citing concerns over security and costs” . In other words, after years of hype, headline-grabbing simulations and talk of “reliable clean power for 19 hours a day,” the reality of risk and expense finally intruded—and the dream of Sahara sun for all has been consigned to the scrapheap.

The scheme, championed by Xlinks and backed by big-name investors from Abu Dhabi’s Taqa to TotalEnergies, was unveiled in 2022 with a headline price tag of £16 billion. By the time official talks fizzled, project costs had ballooned to between £22 billion and £24 billion—and the fixed, subsidised price for UK consumers had climbed from a promising £48/MWh in 2012 terms to a sobering £70-80/MWh, on par with Hinkley Point C’s notorious £92.50/MWh deal from a decade ago . It was a textbook illustration of how techno-optimism meets political reality: grand ambitions crashing headlong into the twin walls of finance and geopolitics.

Perhaps the most telling line came when officials admitted this “first-of-a-kind mega project” carried “a high level of inherent, cumulative risk, delivery, operational, and security.” In plainer terms, nobody quite trusted a 3,800-mile subsea cable stretching from the Sahara to Devon to keep the lights on—or to fend off hostile actors, accidental damage or simple technical failure . For all the talk of homegrown power, the reality was a foreign-built supergrid running through disputed waters, vulnerable to every storm, saboteur or bureaucratic blunder.

And yet just a few years ago, this venture was presented as the ultimate win-win: millions of desert acres covered in solar panels and wind turbines, exporting 3.6 GW of “reliable” energy to 7 million homes and displacing imported gas.

The initial delivery method proposed in this projects for energy collected in Morocco to be delivered to homes and businesses in UK was by undersea cable but this was found to be unfeasible in avery imaginable way, cost, technical difficuty, security, politics etc. and an alteenative proposal to transport the cuurent via the national grids of France and Spain put forward.

How many of you spotted that yes,  this is the same Spain where only a few weeks ago the entire 70% solar/wind supplied grid  shut down due to power overload which because a surge of current flowing into the grid as both wind and solar generators experiences perfect conditions simultaneously while insufficient grid inertia destsbilised frequency? Spain's high capacity undersea Moroccan Inreconnector could do nothing to save the situation.

(Note: the problem isn’t lack of supply, it’s lack of inertia only available from spinning generation. Since this means the majority of supply must be spinning generation, the alleged aim of wind/solar – battling the evil devil Siotu – cannot be achieved and its expense not warranted.)

And spread that frequency failure to part of southern France via an interconnector causing power cuts there, to the evident delight of the French. Are interconnectors une bonne idée? L’ on y pense.

Long distance interconnectors are usually DC and can provide no inertia. The French/Spain one is short distance AC which is why Spain was able to export its frequency chaos.

Without mostly spinning generation, grids are inherently unstable and at constant risk of failure from frequency instability which can be caused by a variety of factors.This is why for all the hysterical claims of the UK's green lobby that on a breezy, sunny day, renewables are generating up to 70% of our electricity is such a joke. In order to provide the necessary inertia to smooth out sudded fluctuations in current that are a feature of ;gren' technologies, we have to keep gas power stations running twenty four hours a  day and pay the operators to let the otput go down to earth.

Spain exports to France and France exports to England – but this is not dispatchsble. It is heavily dependent on whether Spain and France have spare capacity available on demand. It overlooks the other energy self-harming Country Germany which relies heavily on France and Norway when dunkelflautes are about… often in Winter. Norway is threatening to restrict supplies via interconnector as extra-territorial demand is forcing prices up to – unhappy – Norwegian consumers. France meanwhile is faced with replacing its fleet of aged 59 nuclear reactors, of which recently 26 were out if action for repair/maintenance a few months ago and France had no spare juice, struggling to,meet its own requirements.

Oh – and then there’s energy loss. The further electricity travels the less comes out the other end. So by the time it arrives in England, consumersd might get might get enoough juice on \ winter's morning to boil a small kettle for a cup of tea. So long was they don't switch on the low wattage light at the same time.

But back to the sheer wrong - headedness of the Sahara project. 

Consider that you can’t build stable turbines or panels on shifting sands and that the sands of the Sahara Run an average depth of 500′ then consider the deepest “Moving Dunes” can be 1000′ deep, you will need some gargantuan turbine masts and deeply excavated turbine footings (down to bedrock) to place turbines “Just anywhere” in the Sahara. Same for Solar Panels, their bases would also need to be set deep to “Not be Disturbed” by Saharan shifting sands. 

As as some readers will know the Sahara is not all sand dunes,it would be equally difficult to put wind turbines or solar farms on Gravel plains or salt flats either. The gravel would still need to be excavated to a stable surface and the salt would prove corrosive to panel supports. So that leaves the rocky Mesa areas and I’m not sure how much of a problem the stone might pose as foundation footing installations.

And on top of all that, the first desert sand storm would knock out every solar panel caught in its pash. Sand blasted panels become opaque and thus the light is diffused before it hits the photo - voltaic cells. 

There is an kind of joy to be obtained from witnessing this particular techno-dream deflate. It reminds us that even the most elaborate green schemes are only as sound as their financial footings and, adherednce ti the laws of physics and geopolitical practicalities. When those are not taken into account, the utopian narrative gives way to something far more earthy: the simple recognition that expensive, complex, and foreign-dependent projects rarely survive contact with reality.

German Populist Party's Legal Challenge To Election Result Could Block Globalist Coalitions Path To Power

Germany's radical, left-of-centre, populist party the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW), which in last month's election narrowly missed gaining enough votes to be allocated seats in the Bundestag, filed a complaint on Monday (10 Feb) with the constitutional court, legally challenging the results of the national election, a spokesperson said.

The leftist populist BSW, which was only created in 2024 after its eponymous leader quite the more conventionally left Linke party over its support for German support for Ukraine and direct involvement in the conflict. BSW which is also Eurosceptic and supports immigration controls scored 4.97% in last month's election, lacking just 13,400 votes to enter parliament in a country where around 60 million people are eligible to cast a ballot.

Suspicions of voting and vote counting irregularities were raised in the days immediately following announcement of the election result which gave the two main globalist parties CDU- CSU and the SDP enough seats in the assembly to form a coalition, freezing out Germany's second largest Party, the Eurosceptic populist group Alternatif fur Deutschand (AfD). If BSW had attracted enough voted to enter the Bundestag, the CDU / SDP coalition would not have enough seats to form a ruling coalition.

The only option open to the globalists then would have been to bring the far left Greens into a three pary coalition. However the recently ousted SDP/Liberal/Green coalition was torn apart by The Greens insistence on extremist policies that resulted in electricity rationing and rocketing proces for domestic fuel.

"Several thousand BSW votes have apparently been incorrectly allocated to other parties or deemed invalid," the party leader Sahra Wagenknecht was quoted as saying by news organisation the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ). Respect for the voters demanded that "possible errors be scrutinised and corrected", she was cited as saying.

Green Power Has Failed Miserably - Why Are Western Governments And Academics Still Pushing It?

 For t,he past twenty years at least governments have been throwing so much money at green power policies that businesses and financiers  have has to play the game.

In spite of this puch and all the propaganda about the science being settled (although it wasn't) by 2023 we found ourselves with EV sales shrinking, and inventories at dealers at astronomical levels so much so that fields are being rented to store the excess.

And the disenchantment with 'The Green New Deal' did not stop there. In January this year  Orsted, the Danish wind farm ‘pioneer’ reported that its stock market valuation had fallen which has fallen some 76 per cent since its peak in 2021 and the company was imposing a total halt to investment in new offshore wid farm projects. Or Albemarle group – a lithium producer and supplier of raw materials to EV battery makers – down over 80 per cent in the same time span. Global car and goods vehicle rental company Hertz replaced its entire fleet with EVs and is now facing Chapter 11 bankruptcy?. And what about oil and gas giants Shell and BP,both of which only a few years ago ere claiing bragging rights about how much they were investing in green power as they began divest oil and gas assets in preparation for Net Zero. Shell was practically forced to sell now far more valuable proven finds in the Permian Basin to ConocoPhillips for a song just under three years ago.

All of this is OUR money (yes yours and mine because the costs go right onto what we pay for fuel and electricity,) and it is being channelled into dead-end investments and will certainly have an impact via lower pension payouts in years to come, creating future economic problems for the developed nations.

Yet our government and attendant bodies such the Pension Regulator (UK, substitute whatever organisation fulfills this role in your country,) – are still urging our pension funds to throw good money after bad by investing in technologies that simply do not work. Indeed, all over the northrn hemisphere non-compliance with green policies will can result in significant penalties.

Not only are we directly subsidising renewables and EVs, driving up transport and energy costs, but we are also losing our prosperity in terrible investments.

The number one problem with almost every discussion of "green" technology and greenhouse gases is the failure to challenge the falsehood that "carbon is a pollutant". Far from being a polluting gas, CO2 is essential to the continuation of life on this planet. And on that point the science really is settled.

The CO2 pollution lie has been repeated so often that nobody notices that it is untrue. CO2 is plant food, and an increase from the present 0.04% even as high as 0.1% would enormously benefit food production. While CO2 does have some greenhouse gas effect, it's influence has passed the peak, and any increase from today's levels will have a negligible additional effect. Given that the planet is still in the mini ice age, and colder than the Medieval Warm Period and Roman times, a bit more heat would be nice.

By far the biggest greenhouse effect comes from water vapour. As primary school children used to be taught, a clear sky at night means that frost is likely while a cloudy sky at night means that frost is less likely, unless brought by a cold wind. Which is why night frost can occur in Britain in May, and also in the Sahara Desert.

From a simple engineering viewpoint, hydrocarbon fuels are by far the most appropriate sources of energy for most of the needs of our technology. For example, methane is the ideal form of hydrogen for many heating applications. Liquid hydrocarbons are the fuel most suited for mobile applications such as personal and freight transport - cars and lorries.

Electricity is well suited to trains, given the fixed track and overhead cable or third rail systems. But North Sea gas (or fracking the gas under Lincolnshire) as the main source of electricity would substantially cut the costs to the railways, homes and industry if properly priced instead of the present distortions.

But while China, India, Indonesia, Philippines and other emerging economies forge ahead with new industrial developments fuelled by gas, oil and coal our governments, influenced by intellectual idiots who have spent all their working lives faffing about in universities and have net zero experience of real business or real life are pushing us along a path of deindustrialisation, destroying national economies, jobs and prosperity.
