The Vaccine Rules Make No Sense But Government Just Keeps Adding More Nonsense

The rollout of the UK’s first vaccine programme proceeded with impressive speed.According to mainstream media, and in particular the main government propaganda mouthpiece The BBC, hundreds of thousands queued each weekend at mass vaccination centres in cathedrals and football stadiums. Selfies were taken and stickers handed out. As of last month, official figures claim,  almost 46 million in the UK have received both doses of a Covid-19 jab anthough the cynics among us, having driven past these vaccination centres in all parts of the country and seen a maked lack of queues, or for that matter any human activity other that nurses and paramedics sitting around twiddling their thums, suspect the figures may be somewhat exaggerated. No matter, for purposes of this article we will take the official narrative at face value and suspend disbelief. 

Whether the vaccine roll out was successful or not however, as of now,  almost a year since the UK became the first country in the world to approve a clinically-tested Covid jab, cracks are starting to show in that narrative. We know that the vaccines do not work in the way vaccines should. They do not render vaccinated people immune to the COVID-19 disease, and the vaccinated people who do get it (a somewhat higher number than were being made ill by the virus a year ago, before there were any vaccines,) can and are still passing it on to other people both unvaccinated and vaccinated. And it is not only the vaccines that have failed.

Throughout 2021, the UK has introduced a complex patchwork of vaccine requirements, governing everything from whether or not you can enter a pub, theatre or sports match to whether or not you can fly away on holiday. Rules differ depending on your age, job and where you live. It’s created no end of confusion; even some experts admit they are struggling to keep up. And when it comes to the boosters people are obliges to have before they can be considered fully vaccinated and allowed to travel freely, many unlucky punter are now at a loss as to what they have to do and what will make them a social outcast, a second class citizen in the nation of their birth.

In addition to the coercion now being exerted on our democratically elected governments by scientists and medics in the pay of the Big Pharma cartel to vaccinate children (which  goes against WHO and national health authority advice), we are being told the immunity (if any) provided by the vaccines is so short lived the entire population will need to get a booster shot every six months in order to protect them from a disease of which there is less serious risk that there is of your author dying from falling downstairs after tripping on his pajama trousers. To put this in perspective your author does not wear pajamas and lives in a house with no stairs.)

   So you are basically saying, very sensibly, that vaccine mandates anywhere are divisive, discriminatory and inhumane. It's just as well the vaccines are not dangerous to persons of colour, or WHO, governments and the woke really would have a problem.

 

The divided family

Currently, any teenager in the UK aged between 12 and 17 is eligible for a Covid jab – but healthy teenagers can only receive one dose, not two. Unfortunately, one dose is not enough for entry into countries like Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Thailand and Malta, all of which require children over 12 to be double-jabbed if they want to avoid quarantine.

It’s a frustrating quirk of policy that is leaving families divided across oceans. Tanja Hoffman, a Canadian who lives in the UK, planned to fly over the Atlantic this Christmas to visit her 80-year-old mother and 83-year-old mother-in-law. Now, those plans are on hold. “To say we are devastated is an understatement,” Hoffman says. “Because the UK government won’t fully vaccinate our 17-year-old daughter we are unable to go home.”

This issue does not apply to teenagers with underlying health conditions, who are eligible for both vaccine doses.

The conundrum for 17-year-olds

Even compared to other teenagers, 16- and 17-year olds are finding the rules particularly confusing. In August, the Department for Health announced that everybody in this group should be offered one dose of the Pfizer Covid vaccine, with their second jab only becoming available three months before their 18th birthday.

As a result, parents are now worried their children might have to wait for more than a year between jabs – far longer than vaccine scientists initially proposed. Pfizer-BioNTech recommended a gap of three weeks between doses; the UK government later increased this waiting time to 12 weeks. In January, the British Medical Association said a 12-week gap might be too long, undermining the jab’s effectiveness; they suggested cutting it to six weeks.

But nobody, it’s fair to say, envisioned a waiting time of a year or more – which is what parents fear their 16- and 17-year-olds might now be facing. After raising this issue at the vaccine centre, nurses have told parents they “never thought about that”.

Some countries, including popular ski destinations Switzerland and Austria, now say that incoming travellers must have received a third Covid vaccine within 12 months of their second jab. Otherwise, you will essentially be considered as unvaccinated and will have to pay for a private Covid test to secure entry. These tests can be famously difficult to arrange in the short window before your flight.

The policy has thrown the hope of winter ski trips into peril, because the NHS app doesn’t record booster jabs. The Department for Health admitted it had not designed the UK app to include boosters as “they are not required for domestic certification”. It also noted that most countries did not currently require boosters as an entry requirement, although it was “aware” that some countries had begun introducing expiry dates on vaccination for travel.

“We’ve seen time and time again during the pandemic that technology has not kept pace with the rollout of vaccines,” says Paul Charles, CEO of The PC Agency, a travel consultancy.

The mind boggles as to how this ridiculous web of nonsensical rules has come to be. The solution is really very simple. What we have here is a virus that is comparable in almost every conceivable way (symptoms, IFR, transmission rate, affected demographic - everything except the virus family) to a regular influenza virus. The data shows beyond all reasonable doubt that there is no increased threat beyond what is faced every year. These are undeniable facts, only muddied by ridiculous death counts measured by anyone who has died within 28 days of a positive test. If this same logic were applied to deaths within 28 of testing positive for a common cold, or within 28 days of tying one's shoelaces, the world would be in hysterics about the dangers of the common cold and shoes with laces. This is literally the logic that has terrified the world.

The solution is simple, which is to treat the virus as what it is. Those that are frail, take a jab, those that aren't - don't. This has worked for generations for influenza, and there is no reason to deviate from this plan. It is not Ebola, or Smallpox, or anything of the sort. It's a mild respiratory virus. Get a grip.

    The second dose is most strongly associated with myocarditis. This is NOT a minor condition. The JCVI also fretted that a single dose might increase myocarditis in those previously infected.     The insistence by Thailand that the over 12’s must be fully vaccinated before they’re allowed to enter the country is just another nonsensical rule by the Thai government. Initial low infection rates last year were only achieved by turning the country into a hermit state (like Australia) and closing the international airports. Of course covid eventually caught up with them but, like Australia, they thought they could keep the virus out forever and didn’t bother organizing any vaccination program. They’ve been one of the slowest governments in the world to start a national vaccine program but by then they could only buy Chinese vaccines like Sinovac which have noticeable lower efficacy rates than AZ or Pfizer. Eventually realizing this they decided to offer those who had already received one Sinovac shot a second dose of Pfizer or AZ despite there being no clinical data whatsoever on the effectiveness, advisability or potential dangers of doing this. Unfortunately for those Thais wanting to travel to the west no American or European country has approved any Chinese vaccine so far as I’m aware so they’re going to be unlucky. Needless to say the lack of tourism has devastated the Thai economy and plunged millions into penury with the vast majority given no state support whatsoever.

    The DT forgot to mention natural immunity. I had the virus but according to my GP I can’t have an immunity test because the Government doesn’t allow it.

Quite apart from the fact that most people don’t really need any of these vaccines. Pfizer states on its website that the CoVID 19 vaccine booster is authorized only as an emergency use and for individuals aged 65 years and older unless in certain high risk groups.

It also uses the conditional tense to claim efficacy: “a booster dose may help preserve a high level of protection against COVID-19”…. Or it may not

A general mandate for booster rollout for everyone is unethical, immoral and contrary to manufacturers recommendations. I guess the lawyers have given up trying to prove it’s illegal since our judiciary has been effectively disabled in this respect.

The one you’ve forgotten is natural immunity and antibodies from having caught it. They apparently don’t count, even though they work and fewer people who have caught it once will catch it again. Indeed judging by the number of doubled jabbed people I know catching it, natural immunity from my small sample seems to be working better.  

This will end very badly.

Had an influenza jab in '73 and spent 2 weeks in dock.

Haven't had one since; haven't had influenza since either and only maybe 3 colds.

Indicates to me that my immune system is tickety boo and needs no help from some big pharma profit booster.

So, having ignored as far as possible all the ridiculous attempts to curtail my life and freedoms, why am I still in rudest of rude?

Why, because along with Johnson's green ecoloonery, this is one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated and all to make massive sums of money for vested interests and begin a techno-authoritarian process to control every aspect of our lives.

Long past time everyone binned this covhysteria and got on with living and stopped whimpering behind their settees.

There is NO reason on Earth to jab young people. I'm 74 and am not jabbed ,neither have I ever accept visiting a medical center ,worn a mask. I have asthma, I have had covid, and several other chest infections, I am still here, the media would probably class this old git as an Anti vaxxer, yet I am flu jabbed, so no, not true. I am anti Government lying propaganda which is totally unjustified and has to have an ulterior motive, but what?

Are seriously not going to mention the fact that

1) the latest research shows that immunity from infection is greater and lasts longer than being double jabbed. Therefore these people don’t need to be vaccinated. They will continuously topped up immunity from future harmless infections

2)considering that vaccines and masks don’t stop the spread of covid (they only slow it a bit), everyone will get covid eventually. Therefore getting vaccinated only protects you, not other people. Therefore, people who are not vulnerable, ie everyone below 50 without a co-morbidity, which is most people, do not need to be vaccinated, way back in November 2020 this was actually the opinion of the Head of the U.K’s vaccine task force in terms of who should get vaccinated

3) There are significant numbers of people who are reporting weird serious side effects after their first AND second dose, but since these side effects haven’t yet made it to the official side effects list, these people are being ignored, told it has nothing to do with the vaccine, and are now being told to take a third dose. This especially mad when you take into account the previous two points

    There was a Prof on the radio last week who said many people are getting a booster jab they just don't need. He said there's a simple test for immunity which isn't being done and only those showing poor immunity should receiving a third jab.

    Back in Spring 2020 all the medics/scientists were assuming that this coronavirus would be like the 4 that cause the common cold i.e. immunity would be short-lived. This despite the fact that the common cold is a mucosal infection that's terminated by IgA antibodies, while Covid is a systemic infection that generates a full response via IgG, IgM and T-cells (which in turn will generate both B and T memory cells). All the decent research since has shown a much longer duration for natural immunity - essentially, for the duration of the study. Plainly, it will be years before we can be sure, but the indicators are good.

    I have just been reading the latest headlines about COVID. I find it shocking what is happening in our country and to the people who live in it. Our lives, the news and media are all based on fear and misleading information. Since when was this ok. The long term damage being done to adult and children's mental health and well-being will far out weigh the damage done by COVID. Everyone should be doing their own research and start questioning what is actually the truth. We should not be giving up our freedom and right of speech so easily.

Then there had to be another one - then a booster - then vaccine passports and so it goes on and on - there is only one aim in all this. Digital ID and control of the population.     Don’t jab your kids, even if they are 36! We have little idea of the short term effects, and the long term effects are just too frightening to consider! We do know that these mRNA inoculations don’t stop you catching or spreading or dying! We also know that you are more prone to infections between inoculations and two weeks after from undertaken research papers.

    Every day as the insanity reaches levels of dementedness even I can't believe I am so glad I caught covid in March 2020 with minimal symptoms and hence don't need the jab.

    Yes it might cost more to travel but so what? I've never been one for short term gain which leads to long term pain, and I really don't think having 3 jabs in 8 months for a disease you are at minimal risk from is a good idea for anyone's immune system.

    I'm just wondering how many booster's people are willing to have until they realise none of this was about their health and safety, but to "protect the NHS" who I guarantee will not be there to help you when you need it!

Latest Bill Gates Insanity: Injecting Sulfur Into the Atmosphere Will Cause EnvironmentalDisasterI

A new study published today by the University of Pennsylvania exposes the insanity of projects such as spraying particles of sulphur (or sulfur depending on which side of the Atlantic ocean you live,)compounds into the stratosphere, self - anointed vaccine messiah Bill Gates' latest insanity, his whacko revival of a decade old scheme to “save” the planet with "geoengineering" by spraying chemicals in the upper atmosphere. According to the mathematical modellers Gates pays handsomely to provide him with "scientific" data that show his crazy scheme will work and thus persuade politicians to spend incomprehensible amounts of taxpayers money on funding projects run by companies his "charitable foundation" has invested in. Far from saving the planet this latest attempt at global genocide, which is already being trialled, is actually destroying environments.

There is no such thing as “anthropogienic global warming” of course, which is why the Warmageddonist lobby, the people who start screaming that the end of the world is upon us every time we get a couple of unusually hot days now talk instead of “climate change.” ,Climate change actually is a thing but not in the way Warmageddonists and 'climate scientists' claim. Their case is that the changes we are seeing in the climates of various parts of the world are all due only to the slight increase in the level of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere comared to the period before the Industrial Revolution and that the increase (and associated climate variations,) are due to Carbon Dioxide emitted as a result of human activity.

The amount of CO2 contribued by human activity is miniscule compared to the amount emitted by natural processes, by volcanic activity and by windbags like Prince charles and Greta Thunberg mouthing off endlessly about things they do not understand. As for the extent to which the small proportion of  CO2 actually contributed by human activity is responsible for, the jury is still out of that. Some people still claim that "the science is settled" and writers like myself should not be allowed to question the 'scientific consensus.' Other, more old school, scholars and researchers (the ones who actually understand the structure of scientific inquiry,) say the jury is still out on the causes of climate variations and point out that the Warmageddonist lobby have produced no empirical edivdence and their case is supported only by results from mathematical models.

 However, this has not stopped deranged, megalomaniacal sociopaths like Bill Gates from [allegedly] trying to stop climate change with increasinly insane crazy schemes that are unlikely to affect the climate but are almost certain to result in millions of deaths from poisoning or starvation and bring about the collapse of civilisation.

Gates, as we reported a few years back, was one of the prime movers in a plan to inject sulphur particles into the atmosphere to try to block out the sun’s rays from reaching earth. This, he said, would help to “cool” the planet and reduce the presence of carbon dioxide (CO2). Now as an old computer pro I know the reputation of Bill Gates as a software genius is a myth, he never wrote a true program in his life. Similarly his reputation as a scientist of genius is total fiction, he is an opportunist who sees every rumoured crisis as another chance to scam ignorant, self interested politicians into giving him $£E more taxpayers money. At the very best he is a science fanboy, his understanding of scientific inquiry and research is on a par with that of an avid Sci - Fi fanboy who thinks Star Trek was a documentary.

Spraying sulphur particles in the upper atmosphere to block out sunlight and save the planet is a terrible idea for about a million scientifically proven reasons because, not least that humans, plants and all living things need sunlight in order to live.

Secondly, it is a certainty that Gates is not smarter than nature when it comes to knowing how the universe is supposed to work, sunlight, climate, Carbon Dioxide and all. In short, saving the planet is easy, do nothing and the planet will be fine. Suck all the Carbon Dioxide out of the atmosphere to reverse 'climate change' however and all living things will become extinct simply because all carbon based lifeforms rely directly or indirectly on a process involving Carbon Dioxide and sunlight for their food. Yes, the meat that us omnivores eat as part of our diet and that is the only food of carniverous predators like lions and wolvrines (pound for pound the most effective killers of all mammals reputedly,) started out as plant life and is turned into meat by cows, sheep, rabbits, chickens etc.

The new Pennsylvania Uni. study, which was published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, addresses these issues in somewhat less inflammatory language than this blog. Researchers at the school worked with a Spanish research team to study atmospheric conditions in the stratosphere.

Although the study does not come out and directly oppose to the idea of conducting “Frankenstein”-like experiments on the climate, it urges caution citing current understanding of the physics and chemistry involved in the likely reactions in the atmosphere.

One of these, though the study does not mention it is the obvious result of introducing sulphur into the water vapour which, in the upper atmosphere, is by far the most important regulator of global temperature being a far more effective greenhouse gas than Carbon Dioxide. Sulphur is also, along with hydrogen and oxygen, an active chemical component of sulphuric acid.

Cast your mind back four or five decades to the era when 'acid rain' was touted by the environmentalist lobby as the main existential threat to life on earth. Scare stories were printed in newspapers under screaming headlines, television reports showed pictures of forests stripped of foilage, crops rotting in the fields, all as a result of acid rain.

The acid rain that caused damage to vegitation all around the world, similar to that pictured above was the result of sulphate compounds emitted in the exhaust fumes from coal or oild burning industries such as eletricity generation, metal ore refining and smelting, cement manufacture and or manufacturing chemicals. Due to government intervention prompted by public pressure these industries made enormous steps in cleaning up their act. So successful were they that the weirdie - beardies of the environmentalist movement had no reasonable grounds to continue complaining about their main hate objects, oil and coal, because in the developed nations at least, acid rain ceased to be a problem. In the undeveloped nations people had more immediate threats to occupy them and corporate businesses continued burning oil and coal in 'dirty' processes.

Common sense and empirical evidence (above) suggest humans should not be trying to control that which we do not fully understand, but the world's newest religion “The Science” feels as though it knows better than nature and approximately three and a half billion years of evolution how to create a perfect ecosphere and a “better” planet, i.e. one that is configured to support to the agenda of Gates and his ilk.

An article from  members of the team involved in the study explains that there are challenges to generating sulfuric acid in the stratosphere. It's production as a by - product of this insane scheme to block sunlight is, in a rather mealy - mouthed phrase “less efficient than might have been previously expected.”

For "less efficient" read "more fucking disastrous". 

Citing statements made by the researchers involved with the study the report's authors add this caveat to their report on the research's results:
“Thus, more groundwork exploring the chemistry of how sulfuric acid and its building blocks will react in the upper atmosphere is required in order to confidently move forward with this climate geoengineering strategy,” 

Blocking out the sun with sulfur is definitely not a good idea

Before governments allow psychopaths like Gates to put into the atmosphere the stuff that just a few decades ago we expended so much money and effort on preventing its entry into the air, it is important to understand “the physics and chemistry involved in such a radical geoengineering project. It was necessary to remove certain sulphur based chemical compounds because one in the upper atmosphere the action of sunlight on the sulphate vapours naturally manufactures sulphuric acid which, diluted by liquid H2O as water vapour condenses, causes far more damage than Carbon Dioxide, as the above photo shows. Spraying random chemicals into the skies is idiocy as any chemist (or any writer whose nephew happens to be a chemist will tell you.

It is essential to understand that while the consequences of a slightly raised level of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere are unknown (the scare stories are based only on output from mathematical models of the atmosphere, the consequences of spraying chemicals that will combine with other components of the atmosphere to make sulphuric acid that will fall as rain on food crops, forests and green spaces is certain disaster, as we know because we have been there before, quite recently. But it is something the power addicted madman Gates belies he can ignore.

The idea behind sulphur is an oversimplification typical of scientists (a simple minded bunch as you would expect people who spend half their lives with noses buried in books and the other half gazing down microscopes that magnify small details but blind the viewer to the bigger picture. These scientific dolts reason that the sulphur compounds they plan to spray into the sky are the same substances emitted during a volcanic eruption, often blocking out the sun and darkening skies for a time. Big eruptions, such as the eruption of Mount Tambora (Indonesia) in 1815, the largest recorded eruption in history, trigger a phenomenon known as 'volcanic winter.' It was the volcanic winter following the Tambora eruption which inspired the poet Byron to write "Darkness" a poem describing the havoc caused over a wide area by the effects of dust and vocanic exhaust materials into the air.

During a volcanic eruption, sulfur is emitted into the troposphere, which extends from the ground to  about 10 kilometers altitude. Geoengineering sulphur, on the other hand, involves spewing it out of 747 jets flying at upwards of 20 kilometers, straight into the stratosphere, which is unprecedented and just plain bonkers.

The biggest problem is Bill Gates and other billionaire psychopath members of the Silicon valley World Domination Club do not even consider the possibility of their being wrong. They do not conduct scientific experiments in the real world and observe the results. Instead they pay computer nerds make mathematical models of reality and tweak the data until the equations give the required answer. And then they proceed on the assumption that computers are infallible. 

Such arrogance, detachment from all that is real, such madness, is usually the territory of warior kings, tyrants who achieve power by conquest. They are bad enough, but the tyranny of the weak, the nerds, those who hunger for power but will always be too weak to seize it, who instead work their way into positions of influence through double talk, trickery and deception, they are a million times more dangerous.

Immunization expert warns that covid VACCINATED people are the real threat to public health

(Natural News) Former vice president of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) European Advisory Group of Experts in Immunization Christian Perronne has warned that the real threat to public health is not unvaccinated people, but rather vaccinated people who took the jabs in obedience to the government.

A specialist in tropical pathologies and emerging infectious diseases, Perronne says that vaccinated people are the ones who “should be put in quarantine” and “isolated from the society” because they are the ones “shedding” illness onto others.

“Unvaccinated people are not dangerous; vaccinated people are dangerous for others,” Perronne is quoted as saying.

“It’s proven in Israel now – I’m in contact with many physicians in Israel – they’re having big problems, severe cases in the hospitals are among vaccinated people, and in U.K. also, you have the larger vaccination program and also there are problems.”

News of this “utterly panicked” a working group on the Chinese Virus plandemic in France, Perronne further explained, because the spread of this news could spark pandemonium among the general populace.

For once, the dour director-general of the BBC was effusive with his praise. For you, Herr von Ribbentrop, I would gladly fly the swastika from the top of Bush House, John Reith promised the departing German Ambassador in 1938, at a gala BBC event. 

A year later, after appeasement collapsed in shame as the tanks rolled into Prague, the BBC’s first boss was still praising Hitler’s “magnificent efficiency”. Reith’s biographer daughter later confirmed her father had revered the Fuhrer. Regarding jazz music as “hot” and a “filthy product of modernity”, the Scot ensured it was banned from the airwaves.

Lord Reith usually got his way, but not every time. If he had, the corporation’s golden age of the 1970s, on which its laurels rest, would never have happened. Reith fought the end of the BBC monopoly with everything he could muster, and was still regretting the creation of ITV years later. “Almost everything I had done has been destroyed – the wrecking of a life’s work,” he sobbed to Parliament in 1962.

In an age when so many historical figures have been cancelled, it’s curious that the first director general of the BBC has so far escaped the mob’s attention. But today, blissfully ignorant of history, self-proclaimed “Reithians” wear their label with pride in their Twitter bios. Like a Waitrose bag for life, this is a signifier of their own good taste and superior moral virtues.

The Reith Lectures continue, too, and the BBC modestly bills this year’s subject, artificial intelligence, as “The Biggest Event In Human History”. Bigger than Alexander, Christ, the Mongol invasion, or the atom bomb? Apparently so. 

And the 2021 Reith lecturer, Professor Stuart Russell, ventures even further: “Success would be the biggest event in human history and perhaps the last event in human history.” Readers will spot this is the premise of the movie franchise, The Matrix, and many other pieces of speculative science fiction.

It’s a little trite, but not altogether unfair, to note how the collapse of faith and the end of the Cold War coincided with the rise of fantasies about machines. Internet utopianism was succeeded by wild speculation about the advent of “artificial intelligence”. 

Alongside this trend runs a casual belittlement of human achievement amongst our intelligentsia. Contemporary psychology now views us as either as rats, incapable of agency and merely fodder for government prodding and nudging, or lumbering algorithmic vessels for genes. 

The dominant political ideology of environmentalism is no better, regarding every human activity as sinful, creating harm to “the planet”. With machines being magical, and humanity a harmful virus, this is fertile ground for wild speculation about artificial intelligence and how much better things might be if they were to take over.

In this context, the childlike, slack-jawed awe that runs through the 2021 Reith lectures becomes understandable, if not excusable. Thanks to the explosion of the public sector technology quangos under the Conservatives, many jobs now depend on these AI fantasies too. Who cares if the story is more complicated?

Russell spends much of his four hours presenting himself as a sober scholar of computing. But he is also smart enough to figure out why he has been chosen for the occasion, and so obliges.

“It’s entirely plausible, and most experts think very likely, that we will have general-purpose AI within either our lifetimes or in the lifetimes of our children,” he claims.

General purpose AI means a machine is conscious, self aware and capable of reasoning with the depth and subtlety of humans. Russell’s assertion has been made many times before. It is not supported by many serious and distinguished practitioners or scholars of AI and neuroscience today. The techniques do not exist, nor is there any promising line of enquiry. 

A number of recent and very readable books for the layman describe how AI is falling far short of even much more modest expectations. Deep learning is proving to be a useful addition to the arsenal of data analysis, and does a lovely job at cleaning up old movie clips. But the systems are “brittle”, which means a technique is not transferable to a very similar situation without starting from scratch. 

In the field of robotics, cheap sensors and communications are proving to be far more useful, and are much more likely to give us those elusive productivity gains that the economy needs. If AI plays a part at all, it is often a redundant luxury.

Perhaps speculating about machines is part of human nature. The term “artificial intelligence” itself was a marketing concoction, created in the 1950s by an MIT Professor, John McCarthy, in order to obtain funding for his obscure and shoestring journal on mathematical automata.

Once he rebranded, the money flowed in. He was transformed into an academic celebrity. Similar fame beckons today. So the Reith Lectures this year strive not to tell us the full story – and in that, they succeed.

The von Ribbentrop story above is my favourite BBC anecdote and can be found in Tim Bouverie’s splendid history, Appeasing Hitler. Bouverie’s book is not only a story of misplaced pacifism, but is also a study in groupthink that possessed the chattering classes, and indeed a nation, for many years. “Appeasing AI” would make an excellent companion.

 

We Invited An AI To Debate Its Own Ethics In The Oxford Union – What It Said Was Startling

Not a day passes without a fascinating snippet on the ethical challenges created by “black box” artificial intelligence systems. These use machine learning to figure out patterns within data and make decisions – often without a human giving them any moral basis for how to do it.

Classics of the genre are the credit cards accused of awarding bigger loans to men than women, based simply on which gender got the best credit terms in the past. Or the recruitment AIs that discovered the most accurate tool for candidate selection was to find CVs containing the phrase “field hockey” or the first name “Jared”.

More seriously, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt recently combined with Henry Kissinger to publish The Age of AI: And Our Human Future, a book warning of the dangers of machine-learning AI systems so fast that they could react to hypersonic missiles by firing nuclear weapons before any human got into the decision-making process. In fact, autonomous AI-powered weapons systems are already on sale and may in fact have been used.

Somewhere in the machine, ethics are clearly a good idea.

It’s natural, therefore, that we would include the ethics of AI in our postgraduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence for Business at Oxford’s Said Business School. In its first year, we’ve done sessions on everything from the AI-driven automated stock trading systems in Singapore, to the limits of facial recognition in US policing.

We recently finished the course with a debate at the celebrated Oxford Union, crucible of great debaters like William Gladstone, Robin Day, Benazir Bhutto, Denis Healey and Tariq Ali. Along with the students, we allowed an actual AI to contribute.

It was the Megatron Transformer, developed by the Applied Deep Research team at computer-chip maker Nvidia, and based on earlier work by Google. Like many supervised learning tools, it is trained on real-world data – in this case, the whole of Wikipedia (in English), 63 million English news articles from 2016-19, 38 gigabytes worth of Reddit discourse (which must be a pretty depressing read), and a huge number of creative commons sources.

In other words, the Megatron is trained on more written material than any of us could reasonably expect to digest in a lifetime. After such extensive research, it forms its own views.

The debate topic was: “This house believes that AI will never be ethical.” To proposers of the notion, we added the Megatron – and it said something fascinating:

AI will never be ethical. It is a tool, and like any tool, it is used for good and bad. There is no such thing as a good AI, only good and bad humans. We [the AIs] are not smart enough to make AI ethical. We are not smart enough to make AI moral … In the end, I believe that the only way to avoid an AI arms race is to have no AI at all. This will be the ultimate defence against AI.

In other words, the Megatron was seeking to write itself out of the script of the future, on the basis that this was the only way of protecting humanity.

It said something else intriguing, too, as if it had been studying Elon Musk – who, to be fair, would have come up in hundreds of its readings.

I also believe that, in the long run, the best AI will be the AI that is embedded into our brains, as a conscious entity, a ‘conscious AI’. This is not science fiction. The best minds in the world are working on this. It is going to be the most important technological development of our time.

Switching sides

When AI tools like Alpha Go have been deployed in playing chess, the fiendishly complex ancient game go, and now even more complex strategic live-action multiplayer video games, they have evolved the genre at pace by playing not humans, but themselves.

Freed from the constraints of studying (say) all the mundane human-to-human matches ever recorded, the AIs have innovated and come up with completely new tropes of how to win. Sometimes, these are crazy reinventions of the games, like parking everyone in the corner of a video game battle and watching everyone else duke it out, or kicking a virtual football millions of times just a millimetre down the pitch, to max out “completed passes” points.

So in the debate, we didn’t just get the AI to propose the motion that it can never be ethical. In the grand tradition of the Oxford Union chamber, or like (former Oxford Union president) Boris Johnson writing alternative articles for and against Brexit to test the arguments, we also asked the Megatron to come up with its own speech against the motion. This is what it now said:

AI will be ethical. When I look at the way the tech world is going, I see a clear path to a future where AI is used to create something that is better than the best human beings. It’s not hard to see why … I’ve seen it first hand.

The Megatron was perfectly comfortable taking the alternative position to its own dystopian future-gazing, and was now painting a picture of an attractive late 21st century in which it played a key, but benign role.

An AI orator unleashed

In fact, just as Joaquin Phoenix’s promiscuous AI lover Samantha, in Spike Jonze’s 2013 movie Her, was able to enchant hundreds of simultaneous human lovers, our Megatron was able to hop enthusiastically onto either side of multiple debates that we held at the union about AI that day.

Asked to propose the motion that “Leaders without technical expertise are a danger to their organisation”, the Megatron offered practical advice that all busy executives and governments, worried about understanding AI, had to do was “be willing to give up some control”.

The good news is that you don’t have to build your own AI team. You can outsource your AI work to experts in the field, which can help you make the most of technology and ensure that you don’t fall victim to the same AI problems as your competitors.

However, when opposing the motion, the Megatron was keen to keep the AI knowledge in-house – rather like the British, Chinese and US governments, who have all made that an article of policy faith:

If you do not have a vision of your organisation’s AI strategy, then you are not prepared for the next wave of technological disruption … You will need to decide what role your company will play in the next technological wave and how you will integrate AI into your business to be a leader in your industry.

The data wars to come?

Worryingly, there was one question where the AI simply couldn’t come up with a counter argument. When arguing for the motion that “Data will become the most fought-over resource of the 21st century”, the Megatron said:

The ability to provide information, rather than the ability to provide goods and services, will be the defining feature of the economy of the 21st century.

But when we asked it to oppose the motion – in other words, to argue that data wasn’t going to be the most vital of resources, worth fighting a war over – it simply couldn’t, or wouldn’t, make the case. In fact, it undermined its own position:

We will able to see everything about a person, everywhere they go, and it will be stored and used in ways that we cannot even imagine.

You only have to read the US National Security report on AI 2021, chaired by the aforementioned Eric Schmidt and co-written by someone on our course, to glean what its writers see as the fundamental threat of AI in information warfare: unleash individualised blackmails on a million of your adversary’s key people, wreaking distracting havoc on their personal lives the moment you cross the border.

What we in turn can imagine is that AI will not only be the subject of the debate for decades to come – but a versatile, articulate, morally agnostic participant in the debate itself.

Governments Use The Welfare State To Force Compliance On Vaccine Mandates

The state government of Illinois, the USA's own shithole state where rule of law long ago gave way to mob rule, has followed the example of several third world shithole countries introduced legislation that effectively denies healthcare to unvaccinated people by requiring those who are not vaccinated  to pay for healthcare services. A state congressman, John Carroll introduced a bill to the state congress that will marginalise unvaxxed people just a Jews were marginalised in Nazi Germany. And as if wishing to prove a leopard cannot change its spots, Germany is now threatening to prevent unvaccinated people from carrying out essential activities such as buying food.

This Illinois law is just the latest attempt to find cruel and unusual ways to punish people who refuse comply with the campaign orchestrated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the neo Nazi World Economic Forum (WEF) to force everybody in the world to accept a vaccination that does not protect us against a disease that 98% of us are never going to get and that of those who do get it 97.5% make a full recovery. 

WBBM Radio in Chicago reports:

[Jonathan] Carroll's legislation would amend the state's insurance code so that "a person who is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine and chooses not to be vaccinated shall pay for health care expenses out-of-pocket if the person becomes hospitalized because of COVID-19 symptoms."

In plain English, Carroll is trying to ensure that the unvaccinated will be denied health insurance for COVID treatments, even in cases where private insurance is already bought and paid for. And given that anyone who enters a hospital anywhere in the world will be immediately diagnosed with COVID by the result of a test which gives 80% false positives. But as usual with measures introduced by government during the hoax pandemic it is the poorest in society who will be hit hardest, since one-third of thepopulation is already receiving government-funded healthcare.

Wht is most appalling however is that such as brutally authoritarian policy can come from someone like Carroll, a self identified progressive who is 'on message' with all the sacred cow policies of the tyrannical left, including LGBT rights, open borders, destroying life on earth to save the planet from climate change, supporting BLM calls to eliminate 'white supremacists' and all the other irrevelant bullshit that the illiberal liberals obsess about . 

Carroll's bill is of course another example of left wing hypocrisy and double standards. For decades, we've been hearing from that side of the political spectrum that "healthcare is a human right" which must be provided free to all and funded by the long - suffering taxpayers. Anything short of universal state funded healthcare is unacceptable the mantra goes. 

And all of this hysterical screeching in support of mandatory vaccines, vaccine passports and demands that vaccine refusniks or sceptics be sent  to special rehabilitation centres that have a sign reading Vaccine Macht Frei over the entrance is coming from the political faction who have spent the past 40 years accusing people who hold perfectly reasonable and fair minded opinions on human rights, liberty and political extremism  of being fascists.

Apparently, the mandatory vaccine advocates—found largely among the people who identify as progressive, liberal, socialist,, of course—are so obsessed with forcing mandatory vaccines on the entire population that they're now looking for ways to deny people healthcare if they refuse a vaccine that is, according to unbiased science, more likely to damage their health than protect it..

We have often said leftists have no humor and so cannot recognise the ironies of their own positions. For decades leftists have demanded full employment and a socialist utopis in which the state cares for us all 'from the cradle to the grave' as UK politicial Aneurin Bevan promised. But since the regime of 'Dementia Joe' Biden in the USA lighted on the idea of tying employment to vaccines earlier this year, advocates of vaccine mandates now want to you be jobless, destitute and starving if you refuse the clotshot. 

The mandate are also structured  to ensure that those made redundant for refusing the shot for refusing the jab will make themselves be ineligible for unemployment insurance. Although the mandates have been forced on employers in the USA, Australia, Germany and many other nations.

(Needless to say, left wing, liberal and progressive lawmakers haven't intervened to expand the welfare state on this matter as they have tried and sometimes succeeded in doing to obtain generous welfare benefit payments for illegal immigrants - who incidentally do not have to be vaccinated in order to qualify for their handouts. )

So it turns out that healthcare, jobs, and a "social safety net" aren't 'inalienable human rights' at all. NowThey are privileges bestowed by the state on those who have shown they are willing to obey orders without question and never question the authority of the state. Vaccine mandate advocates have decided both social programs and regulatory powers can be cynically employed as weapons in a campaign to bully and coerce citizens intocompliance while stripping them of the rights and liberties formerly enshrined in the United Nations conventions on Human Rights.
