Shortly after delivering an assertive speech to the World Economic Fourm (WEF) at Davos today, US President Donald Trump announced he had struck a deal on Greenland during a meeting with the head of NATO, Mark Rutte, a former Prime Minister of Netherlands. No details are available at the time of writing but Trump subsequently cancelled the threatened 10 per cent tariff on Britain and other European allies who refused to support his plan to acquire the territory.

In spite of all over the past few days, as things have turned out, Boggart Blog was again correct when in our first report after Trump declared the USA had to have Greenland, the move was bluff, Trump was merely setting out his negotiating position.
He comented after accounging the agreement,: “Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st.
Additional discussions are being held concerning the Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland.” he wrote on Truth Social. President Trump had earlier demanded immediate negotiations about the purchase of Greenland by the US and warned NATO allies not to stand in his way.
When asked by reporters at Davos if the agreed framework involved the US acquiring the semi-autonomous territory he did not give a straight answer only saingy is that the agreement was “infinite”.
He shared no other details, although he insisted that it would give the US “everything we need”. It is a tactic the US president, a former real estate developer, often deploys. He is quick to lock down the key aspects of a deal and delegate the working out of details to his assistants.
