As timing goes, a pope simply can’t do better than to die just after Easter Sunday, but the most recent Pope topped that by, in the days before his death, having headline grabbing meetings with King Chares and Queen Camilla and also US Vice President J D Vance.
HoweverPolitics and religion shouldn’t ever be mixed up together, no matter how tempting or sensible that that might seem to be. The pope interfering in the legitimate mandate that the democratic process in the USA delivered is hubristic and gratuitous at best, and reveals a man totally removed from reality and out of touch with society.
Among Francis’s most famous comments was his much-quoted line when he was asked about gay people: “Who am I to judge?” But now, in the run-up to the next conclave, support is already growing in some circles for the election of a conservative cardinal such as Robert Sarah, from Guinea, who has strongly criticised gender ideology and denounced Islamic radicalism.
While mainstream media in the free world has been effusive in its praise of Pope Francis' simplivity, humanity and devotion to the faith, others see him as a self promoter, a man committed to advancing a left wing political agenda through his papacy and a divisive figure who has deeply divided the church.
That popemobile trip round St Peter’s Square yesterday, the meeting with J.D. Vance, the Easter blessing, the composition of his Urbi et Orbi message – which bore his unmistakeable stamp in the stuff about migration and war, though it was read by a cardinal – were all highly theatrical and calculated to capture the attention of the media. For a man who allegedly hated personal attention it was a stupendous final performance. The only thing lacking was an encore.
There will be lots of critics within and outside the Catholic curch who will be relieved by his death, and deeply concerned by some of his policies and pronouncements on Islam, homosexuality, transgenderism, immigration, globalism and national politics, which marked him out as a great disruptor. But the manner of his death, after he had lingered on the brink, sustained by every drug and therapy available, seems to succeeded, temporarily at least, in securing his legacy as a great reformer The celebrity physicist Carlo Rovelli a few years ago, and he said that his feelings about the Church had radically changed because of Francis.
Other, less emotionally tainted views are no so sychophantic. Many will remember Pope Francis the whatever as a Marxist Globalist obsessed with forcing the Christian nations of the West to accept “The Great Replacement” the Queerification of relihion, and also for mocking Jesus by debasing himself before Muslims bent on destroying Christianity, washing and kissing their feet.

There is no getting away from the fact that the Church in the West declined precipitately during his papacy. This great pastoral Pope as some people are describing him didn't persuade people to follow him back to the pews or the seminaries or to embrace communism, Islam or chicks-with-dicks. Indeed the one area of growth, the traditionalist wing, he supressed quite brutally.
Having been married to a very lapsed Roman Catholic for 45 years and knowing the opinions of her family I personally doubt that there was any great affection for him among ordinary worshippers, not least because almost every word he uttered was in Italian or sometimes Spanish. It is difficult to form a connection with a public figure who doesn't speak your language or a language you understand. Grinning benignly from the popemobile only goes so far. I also doubt that he was universally popular with priests because he was forever upbraiding them for some collective failing or other. Indeed, very often his self-promotion seemed to be at the expense of his priests and bishops.

The Charge Of The Anti-enlightenment Brigade
I don’t know if many of you remember London's Atheist Bus a few years ago. It toured the city bearing adverts that read: ‘There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.’ and was a great success[ ... ] this demonstrates the Sheeple - like tendencies of those who claim they have reason on their side: the religious propagandist with the sandwich board saying ‘repent, the end is nigh' was always the subject of jokes. Why do the opposing side now feel the need to parade high tech sandwich boards saying, "no need to repent, the end isn't nigh'?

On encountering my insense dislike of the Labour Party, people asume I am a Conservative. WRONG! I have never supported The Conservatives and have never voted either Conservative or Labour in my life. Politicians should never be trusted, I but what sets Labour politicians and activists above the rest in terms of being worthy of only contempt is the hypocrisy.

USA Extends Drone war To Africa
So why we wonder is the USA taking its drone war against the third world into deepest, sub Sahran Africa? There cannot be any reason for it, the cited aim of neutralising Boko Haram is not valid because boko Haram are not a standing army but a guerilla force that strikes and then melts away into the civilian population.
