German voters’ unstoppable slide into the arms of the far Right? Or Something Else

In Bernburg, a German riverside town about two hours’ drive south-west of Berlin, is holding its biennial festival. The streets are lined with market stalls selling tourist tat and side shows offering all sorts of fun,  live-music stages have popped up in squares and public gardens, street-food sellers and mini-marquees touting tourism, handicrafts and community groups.

Bernburg is an unassuming sort of town in the AfD stronghold of Saxony-Anhalt, not a place you’d expect to find signs of a looming political earthquake that looks set to shake the German establishment to its foundations.

What has happened in Germany is that as centre - right or centre- left parties (CDU and SDP) have been forced into coalitions with extremists like Die Linke and the Greens, though these parties have been minority members of the coalition they have hijacked the government agenda by threatening to bring down the ruling coalition any time they were not getting their own way.

So while presenting themselves as defenders of democracy CDU and SDP have been so scared of a populist part breaking the old ruling duopoly they have delivered the country into the hands of Further-than-far-left-left extremists.

Which is why Germany is in such a mess economically and socially and why voters are turning to AfD 

Germany's decline is being echoed all over the developed world of course, everywhere a burgeoning welfare bill is bankrupting national treasuries and insane energy costs are driving businesses (and jobs) away to the far east and the Americas although to be fair Trump has tuned things round somewhat in the USA (OK, I know a lot of people will hate me for being fair to Trump - bring it on.). This is what ` progressive` politics looks like...and the majority of working, and taxpaying people don`t like it. 

We are witnessing across the UK and Europe the same unregulated mass immigration and out-of-control welfare spending ... and an undeniable link between immigrants and violent or sexual crime, but the majority have realised the need to get rid of `woke` policies, deport people who should never have been allowed in and are simply economic migrants, restore pride in national sovereignty and culture, reduce welfare benefits such that work is incentivised, idleness is not and that socialism or so called social democracy is the enemy of the working man. Every country has a  globalist uniparty bunch of liars...they refused to listen to their own voters for the last 30 years...now comes the price to be paid.  

The whole western world is in decline with its globalist , socialist and worse of all open borders agendas and the economically suicidal determination of ruling elites to pay all - comer generous benefits and provide free housing and healthcare. Germans were the most productive, hard working and efficient people amongst the European people, but making welfare so generous in Germany will eventually ruin even them.

And immigrants from poorer countries are far more likely to take advantage of a generous welfare state which encourages them not to work than to stay in their homeland and work long hours seven days a week for a far lower standard of living. We have known this for a long time but bureaucrats never seem to grasp the obvious.

Germany: AfD On Course For Absolute Majority In Saxony - Anhalt Regional Election

 

According to latest opinion polls on voting intention for the regional election in Germany's Saxony - Anhalt region, the anti - immigration AfD party is on course to win the September election state in the state and is polling figures were reproduced in the election could govern alone without needing coalition partners.

"There's a real sense of optimism here in Saxony-Anhalt. It's a wonderful feeling. We want nothing more and nothing less than to make history. We're making the first AfD-led government in all of Germany a reality here in Saxony-Anhalt," the party's dynamic 35-year-old leader in the region, Ulrich Siegmund told Germany's foremost news organisation DW in an interview at the state parliament in Magdeburg.

Siegmund's branch of the AfD is one of the more controversial in Germany.

The Office for the Protection of the Constitution the state's domestic intelligence service, the AfD's regional chapter describes the party as "right-wing extremists". They argue that the party pushes a concept of citizenship based on race, which contradicts the German constitution, the Basic Law.

Siegmund dismisses the intelligence agency's classification as politically motivated. For several years now the party has been smeared with accusations of far right extremism and has even faced efforts by the rival CDU and SDP parties which rule in coalition to have it banned as a threat to democracy. Germans are not noted for their great sense of humour but even so these parties show a remakable lack of self awareness in being unable to see the irony in claiming to defend democracy by banning opposition parties.

Even now, with the smears and lawfare obviously backfiring bigtime with AfD now the most popular party, consistently topping national polling,  political opponents and police chiefs are still warning that an AfD government would present risks to national security, including the sharing of classified information.

The AfD, Siegmund insists, is "committed to the rule of law."

But many political pundits are sceptical: "I assume that an AfD in government would further establish and professionalize its radicalism," Matthias Quent, from the Institute for Democratic Culture at Magdeburg-Stendal University, told DW. "Especially in Saxony-Anhalt, which has one of the most far-right state branches. There are no forces there that would want a different course."

AfD has promised to get tough on rejected asyslum seekers or migrants whose visas have expired. In contrast to current legislation, the AfD wants all people awaiting deportation to be detained.

"Under our government, individuals required to leave the country must, of course, be placed in detention pending deportation," Siegmund said.

He wants to set up a deportation task force to enforce those new rules. According to Saxony-Anhalt's Interior Ministry's figures, there are just under 5000 people in the state who are required to leave the country.

Despite the attemts to brand it extremist, the AfD's support in opinion polls has continued to grow. If the regional surveys in Saxony-Anhalt are correct, September's election could end more than two decades of conservative rule and mark a breakthrough for the AfD, which was founded as an anti-EU party in 2013, and embraced the issue of anti-immigration in 2015.

Despite the pressure to deliver results, Siegmund believes an AfD victory would be a springboard for the AfD in other regions.

"It would send the signal that a political shift is finally taking place, that we are once again pursuing policies tailored to our own state. And that would, of course, have a domino effect," Siegmund said.

The political establishment in Berlin was shaken yesterday when  Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) rose to a record 28 per cent in the latest weekly INSA voting intention poll published on April 25, widening its lead over the conservative bloc to 4 percentage points.

The result marked the highest level ever recorded for the party by INSA and was up one point from the previous week.

The conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party of Chancellor Friedrich Merz and their Bravaria - only sister party the CSU was unchanged from the previous week at 24 per cent, while the Greens slipped one point to 12 per cent.

The Social Democratic Party (SPD) held steady at 14 per cent, and the Left Party remained at 11 per cent.

With 11 per cent of votes going to parties that would fail to enter Parliament, a governing majority would mathematically require at least 45 per cent of the vote share among parties clearing the threshold.

If other parties continue to rule out cooperation with the AfD, viable governing coalitions would be limited to three-party alliances, the poll suggested.

A coalition of the centre right CDU, socialist SPD and lunatic fringe Greens would command 50 per cent, while the CDU, SPD and the Left would total 49 per cent.

While the pushback by German voters against the globalist slow motion coup d'etat and the inexorable rise of AfD is as encouraging as the growing strength of Reform and other boadly conservative parties in Britain, Rassemblement National in France, and similar traditionalist and soft nationalist parties in Italy, Netherlands,Spain, Poland and across the whole European continent the leftist / globalist blob is still very much in control.

Germany is suffering from a crisis of crises brought on by that milieu which regards itself as the country’s morally, intellectually, and administratively legitimate leadership class but which has, for years, sustained a regime of reality-avoidance, self-congratulation, and rhetorical substitutes for genuine action. For years the nation has been trapped in a mass immigration crisis and not on top of that they have an economic crisis, an unemployment crisis, an energy crisis as Net Zero policies destroy energy security a deindustrialisation crisis and, as the impossiblity of electing a stable government becomes clear a crisis of democracy.

The reality situation is not that mistakes have been made. Mistakes are part of politics. The real root of the multiple problems is that Germany has produced a class of managerial ruling elites that refuse to change course, or take responsibility for their failures even when the consequences of its actions  are exposed. These arrogant elitists, political, legal, business and academic, do not correct themselves or even acknowledge mistakes, because they no longer measures themselves against reality but against the approval of their own circles. The elite class does not want to be right before the tribunal of reality; it wants to be right before the followers of its ideology.

So instead of addressing the economic crisis, curbing uncontrolled mass immigration or focusing on rebuilding the energy infrastricture they obsess over Net Zero and Environmental Social Governance (ESG)

Pushback Against Globalism Gathers Strength As Centre - right AfD Advance In Germany

 

 

Leaders of The European Union musth be seeting with rage, despite all their political, propaganda and lawfare efforts to stop the rise of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), the most hated (by the left and Eurofederalist) political force in Germany, keeps showing robust signs of life, whether in its impressive showing in a state election on Sunday or in a recent courtroom victory. In a regional election on Sunday (8 March), the AfD more than doubled its previous vote share for the parliament of Baden-Württemberg, one of the most prosperous and heavily populated states in western Germany. On February 26, a German constitutional court dismissed a case brought by the country’s domestic spy agency aimed at having AfD,  Germany’s second most popular political party, classified as a “confirmed right-wing extremist” organization. The “confirmed right-wing extremist” designation has been a key tool in the campaign among establishment and left-wing politicians to ban the AfD entirely on grounds that they are a 'threat to democracy.'

This is far - left bollocks of course, it is the AfD’s extremist enemies who seek to ban and censor it, who deny it its parliamentary privileges, who have launched arson attacks against its leaders, and who have assaulted its members. The AfD has done none of these things to its opponents, nor has it called  on supporters to resort to violence against its opponents. AfD has abided by every legal ruling against it, however tendentious. The AfD is Germany’s staunchest supporter of Israel and German Jews; it alone has tried for years to cut off the U.N. slush fund that supports Palestinian terrorism. 

 What makes the AfD so toxic for the globalist left is that its policy portfolio commits the cardinal sin of  making the case that mass migration by semi - educated, unskilled, culturally incompatible third world peasants and labourers who have no intention of integrating into German society is destroying traditional German culture and identity. 

 They also go against the approved narrative by pointing out that Germany’s open-borders policies are saddling the country with a crime- and terror-prone, welfare-dependent, culturally alien population that consumes taxpayer resources while only intermittently giving something back to German society, usually in the form of unwanted sexual attention to German women or trying to give the German car industry back to the by driving into a crowd of German people at a Carnival or Christmas Market . 

Its other crime against democracy is in calling for the enforcement of laws already on the books regarding the deportation of criminal aliens and other migrants who have no right to remain in German society. At its core, its heresy is to assert that a country has a right to decide its level of immigration and resulting culture change, rather than that level being determined by the will of the migrants themselves. 

Ionically the German trying to get AfD banned as a threat to democracy and the EU leaders condemning Trump’s ‘betrayal of democracy’ see it as perfectly normal to levy fines against European nations whose elected leaders defy EU policy (Poland, Hungary), or to enact punitive trade chastisements on nations that elect to leave a supposedly benign and voluntary trading bloc (the UK). 

These same European fans of democracy happily watch the liberal consensus crumble as they increasingly deny their own populations the free speech on which democracy depends, and react with fury to Americans pointing this out. They talk openly about banning parties that don’t follow a globalist line (like the AfD in Germany) or have compliant judges who simply reverse election results they didn’t like (EU and judicial collusion in Greece, Spain, Belgium and Romania).

German police prevent another Islamic terror attack at a German Christmas market

If this story seems like deja vu there's a good reason. Almost exactly a year to the day we reported an attack by an Islamic fanatic on a crowd of  shoppers at the Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany. Last year’s Christmas market massacre involved a Saudi Arabian doctor working in Germany who drive a car into a large crown, leaving several people dead and many more injured. the suspect arrested who was “a national of a Central Asian country”.

Magdeburg Christmas Market was the intended target of an attack this year, fortunately the police were warned and arrested a 21-year-old male from Central Asia. Police sources say he planned a significant terror attack against in the city which is still reeling from last year’s disaster. The suspect arrested is reported to have moved to Germany in the summer of 2024.
 

Although the attack has been foiled, it will serve as yet another PR disaster not only for the German government but also the pro-migration wing of German politics, which argues we should welcome even more foreigners to Germany. All incidents uch as this, even though if they are foiled, can only add to the growing support for nationalist parties like centre right AfD or left of cedntre BSW 

The Magdeburg attack is the second plot this week to be smashed by anti-terrorism officers who held five men at the weekend planning an attack on a Christmas market at an unspecified target. There is already heightened security around the traditional markets with six people killed in Magdeburg last year and 12 in Berlin in 2016. 

Last week German police arrested five men over another terror plot which targeted a Christmas Market. The suspects were seized after security services uncovered deadly plans for a car-ramming attack on a festive market crowded with families, children and tourists.

Four of the men are now behind bars under arrest warrants. A fifth has been locked up in “preventive custody”. Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann hailed the arrests as a major success for the security services.

He said: “A potentially Islamist-motivated attack in Bavaria has been prevented.”

Investigators say the plot was driven by radical Islamist ideology and would have involved using a vehicle as a weapon — a method repeatedly used in  mny deadly attacks by Islamists across Europe.

The exact Christmas market targeted has not been disclosed, with authorities citing security concerns. The suspects included a 56-year-old Egyptian national, a 37-year-old Syrian man and three Moroccan men aged 22, 28 and 30.

Prosecutors believe the Egyptian suspect was the mastermind and ringleader. According to the investigation, he allegedly made a bloodcurdling demand for an attack during a gathering at a mosque in the Dingolfing–Landau area, urging others to strike “in order to kill or injure as many people as possible”.

Cheer Up Fellow Brits, Germany's Problems Are Worse Than Ours

 With its economy in freefall, government spending out if control, an energy crisis looming the last thing the globalists in the German government need is for voters to be reminded of how successive governments over the last ten years have screwed up immigration policy so badly that recently released statistics show that at least a million rejected asylum seekers are still living in the country and claiming welfare benefits. These figures reveal long-standing failures to enforce deportations amid rising public concern over mmigration, crime, and security.

The new figures, published by the federal government in response to an inquiry from the AfD and obtained by Bild newspaper show that as of Oct. 31, 2025, a total of 934,553 foreign nationals were registered in the Central Register of Foreigners as having a rejected asylum claim. In the summer of 2023, that figure stood at 896,065.

The largest groups among rejected applicants are Afghans (153,550), Turks (93,762), and Kosovars (68,261). In addition, Germany hosts around 2.4 million foreigners with recognized protection status, including more than a million Ukrainians. Others include 43,203 individuals entitled to asylum under the Basic Law, 696,985 recognized refugees covered by the Geneva Convention, and 420,358 beneficiaries of subsidiary protection.

German citizens are feeling less and less secure in their country, and mass immigration appears to play a tremendous role in this sea trend. New survey results, while bad news for Germany, also show why the Alternative for Germany (AfD) may only continue to grow in popularity.

According to the latest ARD “Deutschlandtrend” survey, cited by t.online, only 50 percent of respondents feel very or rather safe in Germany, a drop of 5 percentage points compared to February. While leftists try to dismiss this as rcism there has been a well documented rise in violent crime and crimes against women over the past decade, and immigrants are disproportionately represented among suspects and convictions for those crimes. 

Almost as many (48 percent) perceive public spaces as rather or very unsafe.

In 2017, 75 percent of Germans felt safe.  

Women feel less secure in general than men, with 45 percent indicating “rather safe” compared to 56 percent of men responding. Meanwhile, 53 percent of German women perceive public spaces as rather or very unsafe.

A 2022 study by the Federal Criminal Police Office noted by t.online confirms the difference: Only 33 percent of women felt safe on public transport at night, and 61 percent in their own neighborhood at night without an escort, while this figure for men was 83 percent.

In the context of immigration and security, the ARD survey also looked at “views on the AfD.”

While the AfD is the most popular party in Germany currently, it still only polls at between 25 and 27 percent, well short of a majority. However, in terms of the actual policies of the AfD which include closing borders and leaving he EU, there appears to be far broader voter potential for the AfD which is why they are leading the pools by a healthy margin.

Recent German governments sought to temper Europe’s most hardline impulses on migration. but under Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Berlin is  trying to present itself as the leader of Europe’s new,  anti-immigration, globalist left. This is nlikely to be a genuine shift in the government's political position, but rather due to Chancellor Mrtz, aware that his ruling coalition is hanging by a thread, after spending years trying to get AfD banned, has suddenly seen the meritin his opponents populist policies and decided to adopt them.

This shift in Germany’s migration stance under its new government promises to accelerate the EU’s hard-right turn on migration as the bloc prepares to implement a series of new measures aimed at drastically reducing the number of asylum seekers entering Europe — and deporting more of those who do make it. As one German politician said, "Asylum Seekers, illegals, visa overstayers, they all have to go back,"  As European leaders negotiate on how to put these measures into place, those from some of the EU’s most hardline countries are welcoming Germany’s new role.

Germany's Ruling Coalition Hanging By A Thread As Partners Disagree Over Asylum Seekers

At a time when the chaos of centre - right German  Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s lame and unstable coalition is deepening over the inability of Merz's Chrstian Democrats (CDU) to gain the support of coalition his own party have plunged his government into another crisis, this time over the highly emotive issue of how to deal with the immigration crisis.

Last week Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul visited Syria, currently on track to become a failed state following the overthrow of the Assad regime. All WAdephul needed to do was shake some hands and talk about human rights and democracy or whatever. Instead, while touring some bombed-out suburb of Damascus, Wadephul surrendered to his feminine side and, eyes filling with tears, completely needlessly said there was no way Syrian refugees in Germany could be expected to return to such a place, because “people can hardly live in dignity here.” This was the last thing his  CDU colleagues wanted, because with the ever rising popularity of nationalist movement Alternatif fur Deutschland (AfD) the government is desperate to present at least the appearance of a tougher stance on migration and an increase in deportations is a matter of political survival.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz  responded: "The civil war in Syria is over. There is no longer any reason for asylum in Germany, and, therefore, we can begin repatriations of asylum seekers" — a pointed remark delivered in Wadephul's own hometown of Husum on Germany's North Sea coast.

The Chancellor's remarks sounded like a public rebuke of his party colleague, though Merz sought to play it down. He pointed out that Wadephul had toured an especially devastated area of Damascus, suggesting that the Foreign Minister's judgment may have been clouded by emotion. It was certainly not influenced by common sense as German voter's are as sick of their political class virtue signalling over refugees as they are over Merz ad Co. constantly calling for escalation of the war in Ukraine.

In a parliamentary group meeting, Wadephul reportedly remarked that Syria looked worse than postwar Germany which, given German sensitivity about the war was like pouring petril on a fire. According to attendees, the comment further isolated him within the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU).

At that same time, during a disaster meeting yesterday, Merz displayed various graphs.showing the extent of the economy's decline. One of the lines going down is Germany's gross domestic product, and another is private investment in the German economy. The only line going up is the one tracking government spending.

 Merz  told his government: “The fact that a Chancellor would even mention the failure of his own government just a few months after taking office caused shock and paralysis among the ranks of the parliamentary group,” participants at the meeting said. 

Merz also spoke about the necessity of trying to get the SPD in line on the 2026 budget.  Comment's like Wadephul's in Syria are guaranteed to keep the  globalist, far - left Social Democrats out of line, as their present strategy is to increase their leftist appeal by demonstrating their independence from their coalition partners in the CDU and CSU. 

While there have been rumours for some time about the possible end of the Merz coalition, since Tuesday it has finally become the number one topic of conversation in Berlin.

The Bundestag is due to vote on the 2026 budget on 27 November. If the coalition comes apart before then, it is hard to see how a minority CDU/CSU government can last without SDP support. They’ll have no money unless they break the firewall and hash out some kind of deal with the AfD. If the coalition survives this month and the budget passes, then Merz might well break the coalition and try to govern alone for a year.How long he lasted would depend on how far AfD would suport him without an official role in government.

Some in Germany have begun to suspect that the Social Democrats are trying to goad the Union parties to break the coalition ahead of the budget vote. If that is indeed their strategy, then we have to ask why they’d vote to pass the budget at the end of this month. They would want to drive a crippled CDU/CSU into the arms of the AfD, and harvest all the mobilising potential of that circus for their own activist purposes.

At the moment German bookies are offering only even odds that the coalition sees December. Any normal coalition would’ve long since succumbed to chaos like this. The only thing keeping this one upright is the sheer absence of political alternatives – beyond the only party with “alternative” literally in its name.
