US Department of Defence Admits Supporting ISIS and Buffer Zones In Syria

While the Western mainstream media and even independent gatekeepers like Noam Chomsky for years spread the lie that any suggestion that the United States and NATO were supporting ISIS was a “conspiracy theory,” recently uncovered and declassified documents from the Defense Intelligence Agency have proven the Western press and the likes of Chomsky wrong and, yet again, the so-called “conspiracy theorists” right.

This is because, on May 18, Judicial Watch published a selection of recently declassified documents that were obtained from the US Department of Defense and the US State Department as a result of a lawsuit filed against the US government. The lawsuit and most of the documents contained within the release revolved around the Benghazi scandal but a deeper look into the documents dating back to 2012 reveal an even bigger story – that the US and NATO have admitted in their own documents to supporting al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

Docs Show Al-Qaeda Involvement From Beginning – No Moderates

The documents demolish the “official story” of Western governments promoted from the beginning of the Syrian crisis until the present day – that the “rebellion” was organic, grassroots, and made up of moderates and freedom-loving democracy proponents. The document states unequivocally that “The Salafist [sic] the Muslim Brotherhood, and AQI are the major forces driving the insurgency in Syria.” It points out that “The West, Gulf countries, and Turkey support the opposition; while Russia, China, and Iran support the regime.” Tellingly, the report then states that “AQI supported the Syrian opposition from the beginning, both ideologically and through the media . . .”

Indeed, the documents clearly admit that the crisis unfolding in Syria was never a moderate rebellion fighting for democracy, it was made up of fighters from the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda (al-Qaeda In Iraq/Al-Nusra Front) from the very beginning.

From the first sudden appearance of the fanatical Islamic group known as ISIS (or ISIL or IS), which was completely unheard of until about a year ago, on the world's stage where they replaced dear old Al Qaeda (or as former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown used to call them, Alky Ada) as the bogeyman that slaks the western world, it was suggested that the purpose behind the "straight to YouTube" beheading clip that linked ISIS to the House Of Saud (very Game Of Thrones) funded Islamic State was a simple one: use the Jihadists as a vehicle to achieve the political goal of deposing Syria's secular Muslim president Assad, who for years has stood in the way of a critical Qatari natural gas pipeline, one which could dethrone Russia as Europe's dominant - and belligerent - source of energy, reaching an interim climax with the unsuccessful Mediterranean Sea military build up of 2013, which nearly resulted in quasi-world war.

The Royal Houses of Saudi Arabia and Qatar are Wahabi Muslim, the strictest and most literal interpretation of the Koran, Bashar Al Assad and his regime are Alawites, a fairly liberal (by Muslim standards) and secular branch of Shia Islam.

The narrative and the plotline were so transparent, even Russia saw right through them. Recall from September of last year:

"If the West bombs Islamic State militants in Syria without consulting Damascus, LiveLeak reports that the anti-ISIS alliance may use the occasion to launch airstrikes against President Bashar Assad’s forces, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Clearly comprehending that Obama's new strategy against ISIS in Syria is all about pushing the Qatar pipeline through (as was the impetus behind the 2013 intervention push), Russia is pushing back noting that the it is using ISIS as a pretext for bombing Syrian government forces and warning that "such a development would lead to a huge escalation of conflict in the Middle East and North Africa."

But it's one thing to speculate, providing hard evidence is a different matter.

So while conspiracy theorists brains went into overdrive, positing that just like the CIA-funded al Qaeda had been used as a front by the US to achieve its geopolitical and national goals over the past twenty years, so ISIS was simply Al Qaeda 2.0, there was no actual evidence of just this.

That has all changed now however, because a declassified US government document obtained by the public interest law firm, Judicial Watch, reveals that Western governments deliberately collaborated with Al-Qaeda and other Islamist groups for the purpose of deposing Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad.

According to investigative reporter Nafeez Ahmed, the "leaked document reveals that in coordination with the Gulf States and Turkey, the West intentionally sponsored violent Islamist groups to destabilize Assad, despite anticipating that doing so could lead to the emergence of an ‘Islamic State’ in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

According to the newly declassified US document, the Pentagon foresaw the likely rise of the ‘Islamic State’ as a direct consequence of the strategy, but described this outcome as a strategic opportunity to “isolate the Syrian regime."

And not just that: as we reported last week, now that ISIS is running around the middle east, cutting people's heads of in 1080p quality and Hollywood-quality (perhaps literally) video, the US has a credible justification to sell billions worth of modern, sophisticated weapons in the region in order to "modernize" and "replenish" the weapons of such US allies as Saudi Arabia, Israel and Iraq.

What the Pentagon did not see coming was the obdurate resistance put up by Assad's supporters who are perhaps inspired less by loyalty to their leaders than by fear of the fate that awaits them should the brutal and barbaric Sunni Muslim ISIS militants succeed in gaining power, and also the determination of Russia, china and Iran that their Syrian ally will not fall.

But it should be clear to everyone by now that the US military-industrial complex is a winner every time war breaks out anywhere in the world (usually with the assistance of the CIA) . What wasn't clear is just how the US predetermined the current course of events in the middle east.

Now, thanks to the following declassified report, we have a far better understanding of not only how current events in the middle east came to be, but what America's puppermaster role leading up to it all, was.

Sweden Dying To be A Humanitarian Super Power

Sweden prides itself on being a “humanitarian superpower”, and it displays and polishes its halo via granting asylum, almost no questions asked, to anyone who claims to be from dangerous parts of the world. The country, with a population of eight million, is now taking more than 100,000 refugees per annum and it’s rising 20% year on year.

The country has a zero-tolerance attitude towards any scepticism of the country’s masochistic levels of immigration and politicians constantly denigrate native Swedes and their culture.

Mona Sahlin, a former leader of the currently ruling Social Democrats said she hated anything Swedish and that Swedes were jealous of immigrants because they have “a culture, an identity, a history” and that Swedes don’t, and Sweden’s previous Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said, last December, that Sweden belongs to immigrants, and not to Swedes.

Multicultural Sweden is very different from the rainbow paradise Sweden likes to pretend, but the debate on immigration is so toxic that to criticise or question any aspect of it is to attract the attention of the violent “anti-fascist” thugs AFA and the self-proclaimed “Swedish Stasi”, Researchgruppen.

Sweden’s insanely thuggish “anti-fascist” organisations carry out their punishments of supposed “intolerant” and “hateful” people – basically anyone who questions Sweden’s current immigration policies, and members of the Sweden Democrats party which is just so obscenely fascist and offensive its immigration policy is to suggest it be brought in line with the rest of Scandinavia.

After AFA invaded an SD candidate’s home, beat him and carved a swastika on his forehead with a knife, ex-Prime Minister Reinfeldt said SD supporters “should not be surprised when things like this happen” because of their politics.

What is particularly bizarre is that even SD supporters and critics of Sweden’s immigration policy who are not ethnic Swedes are not immune to this kind of brutality either. Sweden Report, a blog by an American writer living in Sweden, gave an example of  this ludicrosity – that “anti-fascists” beat Nima Gholam Ali Pour, a politician of foreign descent, because of his membership of the Sweden Democrats party. He describes the incongruous scene:

“Let’s just pause there for a second and ponder a very simple scene: A group of masked young white Swedes are kicking a dark-skinned man lying on the ground. But this is not a hate crime. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The masked white Swedes are doing a good and noble thing for the antifascist cause, because the dark-skinned man on the ground is a contemptible racist.”

Native Swedes tend to live in areas away from areas inhabited by migrants and so are removed from the fact that their immigration policies are actually harming the people – genuine asylum seekers fleeing persecution in the Middle East – they say they’re wanting to help.

Conservative newspaper Svenska Dagbladet carried a guest column by Swedish-Assyrian journalist Nuro Kino, who has won awards for his reporting on human rights issues highlighting the plight of minorities in Iraq and Syria. In his article he describes a trip to a Syrian man’s hairdressing salon where the hairdresser and other men in the salon, Christian Syrians and Assyrians who had fled religious persecution, voice passionate opposition to the Swedes’ policy of giving refugees purporting to be from Syria automatic permanent residency.

The men brandish an iPhone playing a video of the funeral of a religious leader, a black Islamic flag being flown by a man in the procession who vows, “We will do our utmost to fulfil your dream of an Islamic State!” and express horror that this is happening in Sweden.

One of the men recounts his cousin bumped into the al-Nusra member who killed his brother, in a nightclub in Sweden.  One asks “What’s with the Swedes? Why does not the government do anything? Why are these people not in jail? Will they really get to threaten us and get away with it? Anyone wishing for an Islamist state in Sweden will also demand that we all bow down to Islam or die, whether you are a Muslim who refuses to follow the extremists, Christian or atheist. That’s what we have fled!”

Another unfortunate incident, reported by Swedish daily newspaper Borås Tidning and translated by blogger Swedish Surveyor, took place in a Swedish language school for immigrants at the end of last month. Emergency services had to be called because a Muslim student told students to be quiet because “Allah forbids us from laughing.” Having given this glimpse of the sort of diversity he was going to be enriching the country with he proceeded to point at a woman and tell her, “You are a Christian, that is not good. Here everyone shall be Muslim and wear a veil”. The end result was that one of the women had difficulty breathing and subsequently fainted so the emergency services were called. It emerged that the student had behaved in this way for some time, and though he was investigated by police and Sweden has incredibly stringent “hate crime” laws, the politically correct Swedish police decided that his actions did not constitute a crime.

The Swedes’ ever universalist outlook means they have kidded themselves to think they can allow huge swathes of people from war-torn countries to live in Sweden, indiscriminately, and that people will come to enjoy the illusory paradise of a multicultural society rather than bringing their wars and poverty to Sweden with them. Their fear of being accused of Islamophobia has resulted in a system in which extreme behaviour goes unchallenged, which has led to their job agency’s “assimilation guides” being found to be recruiting for ISIS, and their multicultural centre’s “expert on Islamophobia”, an Islamic convert, going on to defect to the Islamic State.

If Swedes are really desperate to be a “humanitarian superpower” despite the fact it’s leading them to financial ruin, they should at least only invite in those who are persecuted and not those who are doing the persecuting.

Gaddafi’s home town falls to Islamic State in anarchic Libya

Under the rule of strongman dictator Muammar Gaddafi Libya was the most prosperous nation on the African continent and its nationals had the highest standard of living. Since the western Coalition, the FUKUS Axis led by Barack Hussein Obama (nee Barry Dunham) supported a rag tag army of dissidents, malcontents and religious fanatics by bombing the Gaddafi regime (along with much of Libya's infrastructure to oblivion, the nation has descended into near anarchy.

It is now the third major stronghold for the Sunni Islamist rebel army known as ISIS or ISIL, which declared a Caliphate to rule over all Muslims from territory it holds in Syria and Iraq.

Standing guard at a checkpoint near the front line between 'government' controlled territory and land held by the rebels, Libyan soldier Mohammed Abu Shager can see where IS militants are dug in with their heavy weaponry less than a kilometer away. The militants have taken over former dictator Muammar Gaddafi’s home city of Sirte as they exploit a civil war between two rival governments to expand the caliphate into North Africa.

“Every night they open fire on us,” said Abu Shebar, whose company holds the last position on Sirte’s western outskirts of troops loyal to one of the two warring Libyan governments, the General National Congress, which controls the capital Tripoli and most of the west of the country.

Global Warming Is Not Causing Any Polar Ice Cap Meltdown Says NASA

Dramatic pictures showing ice cap melt are only depicting what happens every summer as the temperature rises.

Updated data from NASA satellite instruments reveal the Earth’s polar ice caps have not receded at all since the satellite instruments began measuring the ice caps in 1979. Since the end of 2012, moreover, total polar ice extent has largely remained above the post-1979 average. The updated data contradict one of the most frequently asserted global warming claims – that global warming is causing the polar ice caps to recede.

The timing of the 1979 NASA satellite instrument launch could not have been better for global warming alarmists. The late 1970s marked the end of a 30-year cooling trend. As a result, the polar ice caps were quite likely more extensive than they had been since at least the 1920s. Nevertheless, this abnormally extensive 1979 polar ice extent would appear to be the “normal” baseline when comparing post-1979 polar ice extent.

Updated NASA satellite data show the polar ice caps remained at approximately their 1979 extent until the middle of the last decade. Beginning in 2005, however, polar ice modestly receded for several years. By 2012, polar sea ice had receded by approximately 10 percent from 1979 measurements. (Total polar ice area – factoring in both sea and land ice – had receded by much less than 10 percent, but alarmists focused on the sea ice loss as “proof” of a global warming crisis.)

John Kerry Calls For The Internet To Be Placed Under The Authority Of The United Nations

In the latest and probably strongest signal yet to come out of The White House that the wannabe God - King of the entire universe and everything else besides, Barack Hussein Obama (nee Barry Dunham), intends to take control of the internet and ensure users can only see approved propaganda online, US Secretary of State John Kerry, speaking earlier this week in South Korea, said that the Internet “needs rules to be able to flourish and work properly.” This, according to Gauleiter Kerry, is necessary even for “a technology founded on freedom.”

Kerry made his remarks in the context of talking about how international law is applicable to the Internet. “As I’ve mentioned, the basic rules of international law apply in cyberspace. Acts of aggression are not permissible. And countries that are hurt by an attack have a right to respond in ways that are appropriate, proportional, and that minimize harm to innocent parties. We also support a set of additional principles that, if observed, can contribute substantially to conflict prevention and stability in time of peace. We view these as universal concepts that should be appealing to all responsible states, and they are already gaining traction,” said Kerry.

“First, no country should conduct or knowingly support online activity that intentionally damages or impedes the use of another country’s critical infrastructure. Second, no country should seek either to prevent emergency teams from responding to a cybersecurity incident, or allow its own teams to cause harm. Third, no country should conduct or support cyber-enabled theft of intellectual property, trade secrets, or other confidential business information for commercial gain. Fourth, every country should mitigate malicious cyber activity emanating from its soil, and they should do so in a transparent, accountable and cooperative way. And fifth, every country should do what it can to help states that are victimized by a cyberattack.

“I guarantee you if those five principles were genuinely and fully adopted and implemented by countries, we would be living in a far safer and far more confident cyberworld.

“But even with these principles, ensuring international cyber stability will remain a work in progress. We still have a lot of work to do to develop a truly reliable framework – based on international law – that will effectively deter violations and minimize the danger of conflict.

“To build trust, the UN Group of Governmental Experts has stressed the importance of high-level communication, transparency about national policies, dispute settlement mechanisms, and the timely sharing of information – all of them, very sound and important thoughts. The bottom line is that we who seek stability and peace in cyberspace should be clear about what we expect and intend, and those who may be tempted to cause trouble should be forewarned: they will be held accountable for their actions. The United States reserves the right to use all necessary means, including economic, trade and diplomatic tools, as appropriate in order to defend our nation and our partners, our friends, our allies” source.

Clear enough, but brutal obvious where the Obama Administration and their Internet Technology subsidiary Google are heading when you recall that just a few short weeks ago Google announced they are developing 'Ministry of Truth' search technology that will ensure only approved 'facts' show up in our search results. It does not get more Orwellian than that.

India Plans to Build 100 “Smart” Cities for the Elites

Nobody can deny that despite all the empty words of vacuous politicians like Barack Obama about equality and fairness and wealth redistribution of wealth, the rich seem to keep on getting richer while the poor get shat on. When referring to 'The Rich' I’m not talking about 'the 1%', beloved on the arithmetically challenged left. The top 1% by income consist of upper-middle-class business owners and professionals. No, I’m talking about the 1% of the 1%, the 0.01%.

These happy few are where the real money (and thus the real power) resides. We are talking about the business, financial and political elite. If their wealth and power continued to grow at the rate they have over the past two decades, if the transfer of wealth Obama and so many others have talked about, in reality a transfer from poor to rich, ist the rate they have over the past two decades at the rate they have over the past two decadesllowed to carrt the rate they have over the past two decadesy on unabated, how do you think the super - wealthy would choose to live their lives?

To get a sneak preview of this dystopian future, look no further than at what is going on in India, where the government is planning the construction of “Gift City”, a new and exclusive development for the elite, which will segregate the wealthy from the rabble. If things go to plan and no peasants revolt intervenes Gift City is scheduled for completion by 2021. It will be a glittering enclave with top-notch building codes, 24-hour electricity, and unlimited clean water.

High-speed sewage pipelines will rocket wealthy waste out of the city at speeds of 90km per hour (you can’t make this stuff up) and the wide uncongested streets will accomodate an roomy and efficient public transport system (for comparisons find a YouTube video of a bus or train service in India, dirty, overcrowded and your fellow passengers will include chickens and goats.

At the center of this exclusive settlement will be a “Command and Control Center” that monitors traffic, and utilizes an extensive system of CCTV cameras to ensure no intruders are at large. Despite the sprawling surveillance that would turn most sane people into paranoid psychotics, compared to the rest of this impoverished, dirty, chaotic nation Goft City will be a veritable utopia.

Gift City is not a one off, India plans to build 100 of these “smart” cities, while restructuring another 500 smaller towns in their image. These are not being built for the benefit of the common man. If anything, they will be more like the courts of feudal lords, ruling over the wider population. Times of India comments:

Yet many experts and planners fear that such “insta-cities”, if they are made, will prove dystopic and inequitable. Some even hint that smart cities may turn into social apartheid cities, governed by powerful corporate entities that could override local laws and governments to “keep out” the poor.

In a monograph for a conference on smart cities in Mumbai in January, the economist and consultant Laveesh Bhandari described smart cities as “special enclaves” that would use prohibitive prices and harsh policing to prevent “millions of poor Indians” from “enjoying the privileges of such great infrastructure”. “This is the natural way of things,” he noted, “for if we do not keep them out, they will override our ability to maintain such infrastructure.”

I would not get upset about these segregated communities for the rich, if you have the money and you want to cut yourself off from reality by living in a gated community with 24-hour security, then go for it. Gift City is only the same thing, on a larger scale. I mean, if a bunch of rich people want to get together and build what is basically a corporate microstate, who cares? If they want to live separately from everyone else and they can afford it, that’s their business.

The only problem is, it’s not their money. In a trend that is becoming more and more apparent, the rich have now developed such a sense of entitlement they appear to think it is their right to have lavish lifstyles funded by money plundered from the taxes paid by middle and low income groups. Gift City is not being funded out of their own pocket, it’s being built with taxpayers money, and the land will probably be stolen from local residents through eminent domain (a system of forced eviction we reported yesterday). This is a classic example of wealthy elites and corrupt politicians working hand it hand to maintain their power and standard of living. They’re building their gilded atrocity on the backs of everyday citizens who, make no mistake, will not see any of the benefits. Economic Times India said:

The current template might have given us Palava City. This self-described smart city across 3,000 acres of Mumbai’s northeastern exurbs is being built by a city-based developer best known for treating skyscraper-erecting as a competitive sport. As its promotional video announces in a smug baritone, Palava City was inspired by the futuristic vision that brought Singapore, Dubai “and even Mumbai” into being.

What this translates into is “essential public infrastructure” such as 24×7 electricity, immaculate wide roads, public transport, malls, multiplexes and luxury housing, including “Mumbai’s first and only golf-course-equipped residential township”. To make sure that no one trespasses on its immaculate privatopia, Palava plans to issue its residents with “smart identity cards”, and will watch over them through a system of “smart surveillance”.

The emphasis on surveillance underlines the stratified, elitist nature of smart cities, according to the academic and author Pramod Nayar. “Smart cities will be heavily policed spaces,” he says, “where only eligible people – economically productive consumers (shoppers) and producers (employees) – will be allowed freedom of walking and travel, while ambient and ubiquitous surveillance will be tracked so as to anticipate the ‘anti-socials’.”

As such, Nayar adds, smart cities will be “more fortresses than places of heterogeneous humanity, because they are meant only for specific classes of people”. One class to be served, the other to be surveilled and contained.

Brave New World meets 1984. What a dystopian nightmare. Yet many believe this is the future for human society, and many more are determined to make it so. And just because this is in India, don’t think it won’t happen where you live someday. This is the world the financial elite want to build. In the past decade there have been plans for a man made archipelago outside any tax jusrisdiction that would be a haven where the superich and their servants could operate tax and regulation free as they manipulate markets, and a giant cruise liner that would in effect be a floating city only ever docking in tax havens. Their goal is a world where they can just plow over the little people, and build their own opulent fortified cities with public funds while the starving masses live just outside the gates, in squalor so thick they can never escape. A state within microstates state that offer special rights and privileges for the chosen few. This is nothing less than a form of high-tech feudalism.

The Eurozone is a Disaster; Britain Must Leave the EU’ says City Economist

One of the leading City Of London economists has said that the European Single Currency System (eurozone) is a “complete disaster” and that “Britain needs to leave the EU”. Roger Bootle, founder of Capital Economics talking to Money Week about his new book, 'The Trouble With Europe', which he says he wrote to get his thinking straight on Europe, has said that a Brexit would be the best thing for the UK economy.

“I think the eurozone is a complete disaster and I’m not a Johnny-come-lately on this subject I was saying it right from the beginning,” he said. “The problem is really two-fold: firstly, you’ve got these countries on the southern periphery: Greece, of course, the most intense example, but also Italy, Spain and Portugal, which are uncompetitive.

“But the second aspect which is not fully appreciated, and it is, I think, at least as important, and that is the tendency for Germany and The Netherlands and some other countries, but mainly those two, to do too much saving. They run their policies too tightly.

“What the euro has done is it’s locked together these two groups of countries that behave fundamentally differently. In the old days the exchange rate acted as a flex, a hinge, enabling those two sorts of countries to work together. Without out it well you’ve got this ghastly stagnation.”

Bootle who has always been eurosceptic, said that it was not until he sat down and started writing the book that he fully weighed up the costs and benefits of being in the EU. At the moment, he said, there “are so many studies of the issue that show actually the net balance of advantages and disadvantages is fairly small.”

But as the EU economy becomes more sclerotic thanks to the weight centralized regulation, Bootle said it would become increasingly advantageous for Britain to leave the bloc and make its own way in the world.

“Probably in the long term [the economic costs are] not marginal. I see Europe going largely the wrong way: over-regulation, over-integration.

“I think the costs of that are going to grow over time; and similarly, Europe is fading in relative importance in the world. I think if Britain were outside the European Union it could take another direction. It could deregulate quite a lot, and, I think, bring quite a lot of advantages.

Responding to questions over whether an independent Britain would have to enact EU regulations anyway in order to maintain trade agreements with the EU, Bootle responded: “This is a tricky issue. I think one of the most important points in the case against staying in is that yes we have to have certain regulations in place if we’re trading with Europe but if we weren’t in the EU we’d only have to have those in place in those industries and businesses which were exporting to the EU.

“Of course, that’s a tiny minority in relation to the system as a whole. If you’re in the EU then you have to impose those regulations across the whole economy. So, little sandwich sellers in Dagenham have to comply with the regulations about working hours and all these other things, whereas if we weren’t in the EU that wouldn’t apply.”

Bootle’s comments come as the British Eurosceptic campaigns gear up for a referendum fight, following the Conservative’s victory in last week’s general election. Prior to the election Prime Minister David Cameron had vowed to hold an in-out referendum on the back of treaty renegotiations by 2017, although reports this week suggest that a vote could come as early as next year.

US Senators Block Obama's Fast Track For Corporate Friendly Trade Deals

United States Senators have voted to block a plan that would have given President Barack Obama “fast track” authority to advance a 12-nation trade deal between the US and Pacific Ring partners. In a 52-45 vote on Tuesday afternoon, the Senate opposed moving forward for now on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) a close sibling of the Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), a negotiated-in-secret, corporate-friendly trade deal which has been arousing strong opposition across Europe.

A procedural vote requiring at least 60 “ayes” in order to let the Senate host discussions on whether or not to give the God - King Obama “fast track” authority (i.e, the power to create laws by decree) on the matter was defeated. Failure to get imperial authority for Obama on this puts the future of the trade agreement in jeopardy. Ironically the president who throughout his term in office has been at loggerheads with The Republicans, has their support on this while he is being blocked by his own party, The Democrats. A reading of the extracts leaked so far from the treaties (mostly by Wikileaks) shows however that far from being about free trade in the true sense, it is in fact about freeing corporate business from the obligation to obey national law.

Had this week's Senate vote gone the other way, lawmakers would have hosted a debate to decide whether to give President Obama the power to approve the potential deal on his own, before asking Congress to either ratify or reject any agreement. Ahead of Tuesday’s vote, Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, told Reuters the possibility of expediting the process as the White House had requested “may be dead” due to lack of support soon after the procedural vote failed.

“In the future, if we see a sharp decline in US agriculture and manufacturing,” Hatch said after the votes were counted, “...people may very well look back at today’ events and wonder why we couldn't get our act together.”

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California) raised concerns on the Senate floor over the Obama administration's lack of transparency with regards to what’s being discussed by TPP participants.

“Let me tell you what you have to do to read this agreement. Follow this: you can only take a few of your staffers who happen to have a security clearance — because, God knows why, this is secure, this is classified. It has nothing to do with defense. It has nothing to do with going after ISIS,” Senator Boxer said, according to the Intercept.

President Obama has been touting the TPP as a catalyst for the domestic jobs market and an enabler of workers’ rights abroad, and last week he pitched the deal at the main office of footwear giant Nike. Critics of TPP and TTIP say it will do the opposite by making the offshoring of jobs by corporate employers to take advantage of low labour costs and lax employment laws and workers' rights legislation.

While Obama has been pushing the secret deal through mainstream media the, public disclosures about the in-the-works agreement have been few and far between, and in many instances provided by the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks.

The European Commission planned to propose (i.e. dictate) a quota system next week as part of a wider strategy to help Italy, Greece and Malta cope with thousands of migrants. The U.N. refugee agency reports that over 26,000 migrants have arrived by sea in Italy alone so far this year. It should be noted that Spain is also affected along with non - EU member Turkey.

Maltese MEP Roberta Metsola said:

“We need a binding solidarity mechanism that allows for the fair distribution of asylum seekers among member states once a certain threshold has been reached. This is not a challenge that Italy or Malta or Greece should face alone.”

The plan quickly fell apart however when other smaller nations with economies still being hard hit by the terms of their Euro single currency membership refused their support.

Hungary, Slovakia and Estonia have all rejected the plans to introduce a quotas that would oblige countries to share the burden of refugees, we learn from Associated Press.

The governments are objecting publicly to a system which requires the agreement of all 28 EU member states in order to be enacted. They favour voluntary relocation and resettlement of refugees.

It is only a week since we reported that the EU is playing politics with lives by refusing a British offer of naval support for search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean where thousands of people each week are trying to cross from African to Europe in unseaworthy boats, having paid massive fees to human trafficking racketeers for 'arranged migration packages'.

The unelected bureaucrats of the EU commission are obviously quite happy to exploit the crisis to advance their efforts to control elected national governments.

In an interview with the national radio station, Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán said:

“This is not solidarity. It is an unfair, unrighteous and dishonourable proposal which we cannot accept, it is a crazy idea for someone to let refugees into their own country, not defend their borders, and then say: ‘Now I will distribute them among you, who did not want to let anyone in’.”

Dr Philippe De Bruycker, Jean Monnet Chair for European Law on Immigration & Asylum, points out that the Lisbon Treaty contains a provision that immigration policies “shall be governed by the principle of solidarity and fair sharing of responsibility.” He is urging the European Commission to set a new precedent by employing procedures already used in respect of state aid and budgetary rules to enforce breaches of EU migration agreements.
