What can be said about Chancellor Reeves latest attempt to destroy what is left of the UK economy, the 'Spring Statement' which was released earlier this week only to be met with scorn and ridicule (and that was just from her colleagues in the Labour Party.)

Starmer and Reeves, political partnership or comedy double act? Picture credit: Hollie Adams AFP
If they are honest with themselves, Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves will be staring
in alarm at what their stewardship has done so far to the British economy. We were heading into a financial crisis before the Labour government took office last July for many reasons, prominent among which were decades of lax immigration controls, the legacy of lockdowns and the far-too-generous benefits system.
Ms. Reeves did at least acknowledge the latter by announcing a crackdown on disability benefit payments to people deemed capable of work but, predictably, this went down like the proverbial Lead Zeppelin with the left wing of her party. However, even if it had been eagery embraced by all, the resulting saving would have been patltry compared to the rate at which government spending is exceeding income. This wold be frightening enough in itself but with Starmer's economic illiteracy and Reeves well documented problems with her CV the situation moves rom farcical to absurdity.
The Government has achieved one of its aims though, which is to balance one
very large predicted number, ie, that of taxation, with another,
spending, in 2030. This kind of economic planning is all guesswork of course. Five years ago nobody could have known how many billions of pounds would be poured into supporting Ukraine in its war with Russia, or that the pursuit of Net Zero would have gone from unrealistic to downright reckless. And nobody would have believed the measures to contain the spread of COVID 19 which were about to be introduced would remain in place like a tourniquet around the throat of industry and commerce for the next three years.
And just as five years ago nobody would have believed any warning that such things should be factored into financial planning now no one really believes the welfare savings, the growth figures, or the thouasands of 'green jobs' to be created by Net Zero' will actually materialise to replace those lost to doctrinaire policies. But the numbers
add up on paper and that has always been good enough for politicians. One side of the House dutifully cheers, the other mocks and jeers. And the world goes on the same.
The whole charade is meaningless, not because things are going well, but because they are going very badly indeed.
One thing that has struck me with recent developments is the
interviews that have been broadcast with regard to welfare cuts. Many
people, it turns out, now see the prime function of the Government as being to provide them
with the money they need to maintain a good standard of living.
Historically we do not have to look back very far into history to find a time times when the idea that the Government should provide for all its citizens needs and expect nothing in return would simply not have been
countenanced. Even the socialist dictum of Karl Marx: "From each according to his ability to each according to his needs," puts the 'from' bit first. The fact that we have lost sight of that work ethic not only
has a huge impact on our economy, it seems to have had a huge social and
psychological impact on our national community as well.
Were we able to sweep aside the follies of the past and rebuild the apparatus of state from scratch would anyone design a welfare system
like the ecurrent UK benefits agency? Listening to some of the recent
comments and interviews it appears that as a rule of thumb
Governments should not seek to fund more that 50% of its citizens needs.
Immediately of course people will demand to know where the other 50% is coming from? In that not-too-distant past we are looking back at, people had a work ethic, it was understood that the state did not owe anybody a living, apart from those unfortunate individuals with serious disability or chronic illness everybody could contribute something to society and there was such a thing as personal responsibility and our responsibility to others. Accepting that responsibility made people
more inventive, resourceful, self reliant and resilient and able to form a more positive view of the future than the rather dismal. disaffected ones broadcast in recent days.
So this week’s tinkering to meet the fiscal rules in five years’ time
means nothing. Almost certainly the crisis will be on us before electoral defeat can save Starmer, Reeves & Co. from the terrifying prospect of having to accept responsibility for their errors. As Dr Dan Mitchell, prominent US economist and commentator put it
this week: “I’ve been assuming that Italy will be the next country to
suffer an economic and fiscal crisis, but the UK is heading in the wrong
direction so rapidly that I may need to change my prediction.”
So
much is obvious to any intelligent observer not blinded by the stream
of meaningless drivel emitted by government figures in the past few days.
After all, Reeves is not
entirely wrong in blaming her predecessors bu that while blaming them she hasn’t
done anything different or brought any new ideas to the role. The last Conservative government pushed
up spending and raised taxes. It was just as committed to net zero. It
had its own Rental Reform Bill. Indeed at least Reeves is doing some
planning reform to boost the construction industry; the Tories dumped Robert Jenrick’s planning reforms
after one bad by-election.
The truth is there hasn’t been any real
attempt to get to address Britain’s structural problems for 30 years
or so. Tony Blair and Gordon Brown benefited from the reforms of Lady
Thatcher and John Major. They used this legacy to make
things worse: to push up taxes and spending, to begin the energy policy
madness, to start importing large numbers of people, and to launch the
process of collectivisation and over-regulation.
None of this was reversed under the Tories and Lib Dems. Most of the problems got worse. That’s why productivity growth is now not far off zero and why GDP per head is actually falling.
Someone now needs to offer a proper, serious alternative.
Britain's Self Destructive Race To Net Zero Is Driven By Corruption In High Places
Late last year it was revealed that almost half the Conservative Party MPs in the U.K. Parliament belong to a group promoting extreme Net Zero ideas that is funded by a small group of green billionaires led by the ECF and CAF, along with Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisers and Oak Foundation.
The Truth Has Become An Enemy Of The State And Must Be Kept Hidden At All Costs
Several industries have grown out of the need of globalist governments to keep the majority of the population in a state of fear in order that We The People will not rise up against the oppressive policies related to climate change, health tyranny, mass immigration, surveillance and censorship, technological dictatorship, and the suspension of our civil rights and liberties ...
Tractors Are Heading For Central London As UK Farmers Protest
Scores of farm tractors from all over Britain were reported to be converging on Westminster as British farmers finally ran out of patience and pushed back against what they say is a lack of government support. Flying Union flags and displaying signs with slogan such as 'Save British farming' and 'No farming, no food, no future' they were gathering in London and plan to arrive in central London by early evening

The Theraputic Society Is Destroying CivilisationMany of the problems afflicting Britain and its neighbours appear to be related to what has been called The Theraputic Society, Nanny State and paternalistic liberalism. As government grows, corporate industry and private business is increasingly coming to resemble the public sector, ruled less by economic rationality than by an intrusive bureaucracy functioning increasingly like an HR department.
UK Gov. Fossil Fuels U Turn Means Its All Over For Net Zero
The Announcement made by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak acknowledged at last that to keep the lights and heating on in our homes and the wheels of industry turning it will be necessary to start building new gas-fired power plants because the great science backed leap to transition energy productions to clean, green, pollution free, sustainable, renewable, blah blah blah sources has failed dismally.
Double Blow To Irish Woke Wonks - Voters Reject ‘Progressive’ Reforms to the Constitution By Big Majorities
Simpering, limp wristed Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar whose government has faced protests because it is claimed they govern in the interests of the liberal elite and ignore the Irish people, suffered two blows to his ambition to turn Ireland into the wokest country in Europe last weekend. Varadkar admitted on Saturday that voters had delivered “two wallops” to the government, which, led by Leo himself, had pushed for a "Yes" vote on a pair of referendums.
Corbyn's Politically Correct Hypocrites Hate Sexism But Approve Of Muslim Sexism
On encountering my insense dislike of the Labour Party, people asume I am a Conservative. WRONG! I have never supported The Conservatives and have never voted either Conservative or Labour in my life. Politicians should never be trusted, I but what sets Labour politicians and activists above the rest in terms of being worthy of only contempt is the hypocrisy.
He's Not The Messiah, His Name Is Edymandias - Miliband's slab stunt goes down like a Lead Balloon
Only two days campaigning left before polls open for the 2015 general election. Who will winn? Opinion Poll show no conclusive trends. But inside information tells us the reason conservative Prime Minister David Cameron has a smile on his face as the campaigning draws to a close. Farage is radiant, clegg liooks chirpy, only Ed Milband is down in the dumps.
Were Rotherham Abuse Victimes sacrificed To Save The Labour Party
One of the victimes of Rotherham's grooming and child abuse gangs has put a political perspective on the scandal by claiming she and other victims were ignored, effectively sacrificed to the tender mercies of the gangs to ensure Labour did not lose votes in the town. The young girls were abused by Muslim men for years on end, but council did nothing to stop the crime.
Miliband Promises Same Old Shite - Not A Word About Action Against Paedophile Sex Gangs
Labour leader Ed Miliband's keynote speech at the Labour Party conference woyuld have to be the best speech of his life if he hoped to be Prime Minister after next years election, the consensus of opinon said. Ed's friends and opponents awaited the speech with very different hopes and expectations. in the end as Ed dodged the bg issues, the economy and debt, law and order, immigration and Europe, it was probably his enemies who were happier.
The Left's Rhetorical Technique Explained
In the first of what might become a long if irregular series of posts with the collective title, "Left Wing Authoritarianism for beginners," your friend and mentor Little Nicky Nicky Machiavelli will expose the origins of the socialist left's propaganda technique and its apparent dependence on slogans, dogma and mantras. But first let's play a little game ...
The Hate And Prejudice The Bourgois Left Find Acceptable
The neo - fascist left are quick to jump on any of the forbidden pejudices, racism, sexism, homophobia, islamophobia and so on. But as we have seen, they find pejudice and hated againt Christians and white Europeans quite acceptable. The bourgeois metropitan set might think that is acceptable but where I come from it's called hypocrisy.
Ve Haff Vay Of Making You Konform. The Tide Is Turning against the Autoritarian Left
The left's self confidence has had a hint of desperation about it for a long time. From their constant whines about the sexism, racism and homophobia of the working class who happen to be the party's core constituency to the substitution of smearing UKIP for policies in the european Election this is a party of arrested adolescents throwing a hissy fit because people are laughing at them.
Secret Justice Threatens The Right To A Fair Trial
A move to extend the government's power to order court proceedings to be held in secret and without a jury from only applying to trials affecting national security to anything the government would rather we did not know about threatens the most basic principles of British justice and the right to a fair trial.
These stupid laws insult the public and threaten free speech
When the law forbids us to insult or offend somebody, to insult or offend a religion, race, skin colour or sexual preference, free speech and other important democratic rights are under threat. When the law then goes on to say that anyone accused of these offences has no right to defend themselves and the word of the accuser is sufficient evidence on which to obtain a conviction then we have abandoned justice and are ruled by fascists.

End of History or merely end of the beginning. Fool those dolts in the West they’ve won, disappear into forest and reappear in Schwarzwald under cover of party with suitable three-letter acronym. Easy peasy. Plenty of Greenery for camouflage.

Germany is just one example within a Europe - wide trend: Europe is economically, culturally and spiritually bankrupt. Increasing debt, struggling economy, mass migration, low birth rates, insane policies and among the political leadership a general lack of ideas about how the problems could be solved.
Something in the continent broke, its hard to say when when, but somewhere between the end of World War 2 and the signing of the Maastricht treaty which turned a free trade and economic cooperation bloc of nations into a purely political entity, the European Union.

After Triggering Mass Migration Crisis, Germany Bribing Foreigners To Leave
Though Angela Merkel clings to power the effects of her 'open doors' immigration policy damage Germany. It may amuse nationalists to observe as, with one face the pledges support for a United Nations initiative to open all national borders, while with the other she tries to persuade German voters she has listened to public opinion and understands her mass immigration policy is abhorred by a majority of voters ...
German Election: Will Another Term For Merkel destroy German Economy
According to the latest round of opinion polling ahead of the German elections, Angela Merkel looks set to become the joint longest-serving modern German chancellor, that’s despite having been accused of "putting problems on the back burner, and staved off several attempts to indict her on treason charges for her role in the immigrant crisis. Business organisations have also raised doubts about the economic consequences of re-electing her, warning that her new term may bring “stagnation” for Germany.
Majority of Germans Favour Snap Election as Merkel Coalition Talks Stumble
There appears to be no end in sight to Germany's crisis of democracy as the European Union's most populous and economically powerful state continues to stumble along without an effective government. Coalition talks between Chancellor Merkel's CDU/CSU and the left wing Greens and classical liberal Free Domocrats have stalled over irreconcilable policy demands.
Germany Sees Fourfold Rise in Terrorism-Related Cases
According to a report in the Welt am Sonntag, Germany has experienced a huge rise in the number of terror-related cases in just one year, with prosecutors having dealt with more than 900 cases so far in 2017, compared with 250 cases initiated throughout 2016. Around 700 Islamic extremists now living in Germany have been identified by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) as posing a potential terror threat.
A Week Before Election 30% Of German Voters Still Undecided
Polling companies in Germany are indicating that support for Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative Christian Democratic Party is still slipping with the election only one week away. More disturbingly perhaps for Hausfrau - Volkfuhere Merkel is the news that over a third of Germans are still unsure how they will vote. An opinion poll published today (15 September) on Friday showing the number of undecideds was not coming down fueled uncertainty about the kind of coalition that will emerge from an election on September 24.

Reports that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has agreed a proposal from coalition partner and leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU) Horst Seehofer to limit the number of asylum seekers in Germany to 200,000 per year to secure a ruling coalition may be somewhat premature. Other coalition partners are not as positive on the policy.
Merkel Calls for Beginning of Coalition Talks With Greens, Free Democratic Party
German Chancellor Angela Merkel officially announced on Saturday for the first time that her conservative bloc of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and its Bavarian sister party Christian Social Union (CSU) will seek to form a coalition government with the centre right Free Democratic Party (FDP) and left wing loony Greens.
Elections take place in Germany this Sunday, September 24, for the federal assembly (Bundestag) and the presidency (Chancellor). While Angela Merkel looks set to win a fourth term as Chancellor and the most likely outcome of the election is another "Grand Coalition" between Christian Democrats and Social Democrats that coalition will be a much-weakened if late polls are to be believed.

Re-Branding Dissent - The Quiet Destruction Of Democracy
Many people, all the contributors to this publication among them, fear that democracy is being destroyed. OK, OK, hipsters will say but ‘we’ve never had democracy’, or, ‘it was destroyed long ago’, but left wing deceit aside, I think its worth actually thinking about how, many forms of democratic expression, effective dissent and peaceful self-determination are being outlawed and abolished in a sustained attack on free speech and civil rights.
