Yes, Iran Has Actually Closed The Strait Of Hormuz Again

 

 

After a news pantomime last night and earlier today (Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz ... Oh no they haven't ... Oh yes they have,) it has finally been confirmed that Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz once again over Israel's air strikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, which Iran describes as“violations” of the peace deal agreed with the USA, Tehran’s military has said. Technically Hezbollah is not part of Trump's war and the conflict between the terrorit organisation's forces in Lebanon and the Israelis is a separate issue.

The Iranian military command ‌stated the closure was the “first ‌step” in response to what it described as breaches of the ceasefire agreement, warning that further measures would ‌be taken if “aggression” continued, Iran's state media reported.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned vessels not to venture into  the shipping lanes through the strait, saying their security would be at risk.

The US military immediately denied that Iran had control of the strait. A spokesman for Central Command said: “Traffic continues to move through the strait, and US forces are monitoring the situation ‌to ensure this remains the case.”

The reports emerged as JD Vance, the US vice-president, told Fox ​News that ‌he was confident ​the ceasefire agreed in Washington’s 14-point deal ⁠with ⁠Tehran would hold. He claimed there was no evidence that the strait was shut. That may well be true but it is equally true that there is no evidence it is open. What captain is going to risk his ship and the lives of himself and his crew trying to find out.

Independent reports reveal Israeli strikes on Lebanon killed 16 people this morning, with the country claiming it was responding to attacks by Hezbollah.But these strikes are nothing to do with Trump or America.

Israel is not the USA. Israel is a sovereign state, whether Iran recognises its right to exist or not. (Spoiler, it doesn't.) Israel is not a signatory. to the Islamabad Memorandum. Hezbollah is not the government of Lebanon and neither are its commanders the IRGC.

Israel is not leaving the buffer zone south of the Litani river and is not allowing Hezbollah to rearm and return to the border to carry out another Hamas style, or worse, October 7th.Hezbollah is a proscribed terrorist group and is widely recognised as an  Iranian asset.

The Lebanese army are too weak to control the 90,000 strong Iranian proxy militia, Hezbollah.

UNIFIL (The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) set up in 2006 has not succeeded disarming Hezbollah and not keeping them north of the Lebanon / Israel  border.Thus it is wholly disingenuous of Iran to use the Israel - Hezbollah conflict as an excuse for closing Hormuz again, and suggests the government of Iran had no intention of honouring the peace deal. No surprise there.

So much for treaties not worth the paper they are written on. So much for useless UN bodies which are actually in favour of the erasure of Israel.

Though White House and Pentagon sources have continued throughout today that contrary to Iran's claims The Strait of Hormuz remains open for business as usual, Windward on X has this:

 Hours after the IRGC's closure announcement, AIS traffic through the Strait of Hormuz suggested business as usual. But overnight, the picture shifted: zero AIS transits were recorded through the strait, and only two non-Iranian commercial vessels were AIS-visible this morning. Hesitation is back in an already unpredictable corridor. 

 So as another round of talks, this time in Switzerland, breaks up it looks as though the war is still on

Trump Says Deal With Iran Is Close - Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei Says 'Death To America'

 

 

Two days ago US President Donald Trump told a White House press briefing an agreement with Iran has been "largely negotiated" and details will be announced soon.

The deal would include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, he said on Saturday, without giving further details.

Trump wrote on social media that he had a "very good call" with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and others about a "Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE".

"An agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalisation between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed," his Truth Social read.

In response an Iranian foreign ministry spokesman told state television that US and Iranian positions had been converging in the last week, but warned that did not mean agreements would be reached on key issues and accused the Americans of "contradictory statements.

A British Prime Minister of the 1960 once famously said 'A week is a long time in politics.' That was then and this is now, a digital age of information overload when a week is almost eternity and Two days is an aeon.

 While Tump was again calling for peace today (May 26 ), Iranian leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei issued a message  calling for greater unity across the Muslim world against the United States and Israel, saying that the chants “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” will become the rallying slogans of Muslims and “the oppressed of the world.” 

Khamenei’s message was to mark Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage. In it, Khamenei described a historic struggle against U.S. and Israeli influence in the Middle East, repeatedly invoking the revolutionary slogan “Allahu Akbar” as the “weapon” that had enabled Iran and its allies to resist outside pressure.

He said Iran had succeeded in “making the Zionist regime helpless under its severe blows during the second imposed war” and in delivering “a harsh slap to aggressive America,” while thwarting efforts to force Tehran into submission.

The statement also praised what it called the “Resistance Front,” saying Iranian forces and allied fighters in Lebanon had secured “notable victories” against “the two terrorist armies, armed to the teeth by the American-Zionist side.”

Khamenei coupled the aggressive rhetoric with a broader appeal for cooperation among Muslim-majority countries, calling on Muslim leaders to “no longer serve as shields for American bases” while denouncing Israel as a “faltering” regime that was nearing “the final stages of its cursed life.”

Khamenei’s message came as the United States, Israel, and Iran remain locked in a tense standoff following months of fighting that included U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities, Iranian retaliation across the region, and disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

An aspect of the conflict's wider impact that is not being discussed in mainstream media is the increase in terrorist activity since the outbreak of hostilities initially between Israel and Iran around three months ago. Iran had long been known as the main sponsor of The Muslim Brotherhood, an organisation formed to take jihad into the western democracies. Yet many western leaders are so committed to virtue signalling they refuse to ban the organisation. 

Although the ceasefire Trump negotiated has largely held for the past month, with only minor violations by both sides, negotiations continue over a proposed memorandum of understanding intended to end hostilities and establish a framework for future talks.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on May 25 that negotiations with Tehran were “proceeding nicely” but warned that failure to secure an acceptable agreement could lead to renewed military action.

Earlier today we heard that overnight.US forces carried out “defensive” strikes on a missile site and two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) mine-laying boats, which officials said were targeting the United States.

Iran immediately accused the US of violating the ceasefire (although to be fair both sides have been violating it on a daily basis,) and criticised the “bad faith and unreliability” of Washington, adding that it would be held accountable for “all consequences arising from these hostile acts”.

“Without any doubt, the Islamic Republic of Iran will leave no aggression unanswered and will not hesitate in defending Iran’s sovereignty with the utmost determination,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

And so it looks as if we are back to square one. Start stocking up your survival cupboards folks, oil and a lot of things that depend on  oil are going to be in short supply for a while yet.

Iran - US Peace Talks Dead - Well We All Knew They Were Stillborn

Peace talks between the US and Iran aimed at ending the middle east conflict and reopening the Strait of Hormuz to shipping have reached a “dead end”, mediators have said. A spokesman for theThe Islamic Republic regime told negotiators from third-party countries attempting to mediate negotiations that US demands were “unacceptable”, according to The Wall Street Journal. Tehran said it was unwilling to meet US officials in Pakistan in the coming days as planned.

Islamabad had hosted initial talks to end the Gulf war alongside foreign ministers from Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, which were never attended by the US, Israel or Iran.Officials from Turkey and Egypt are still considering new venues for talks, including Doha or Istanbul, and are also looking at fresh proposals to overcome the deadlock, according to the mediators.

Negotiations have stalled since Donald Trump, the US president, presented Tehran with a 14-point peace plan that was deemed unrealistic by the Iranian regime.

Iran has now gained leverage for its negotiating position by closing the entrance to the Persian Gulf and disrupting global oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

Though Trump is making ridiculous claims about his ceasefire ending the war and having crushed Iran, the US that is more keen on a peace deal as Iran has the advantage here, and to the Ayatollahs who lead that country every war is a holy war and they are never going to meekly roll over. 

Trump can bomb them back to the stone age which would be a war crime since it targets civilians, but that will take a lot of bombs and a lot of time because Iran has a huge land area. However provided Iran can fire the odd drone or missile or launch a small, fast, heavily armed boat from its mosquito fleet periodically at tankers in The Gulf, no insurance will be possible and the Strait of Hormuz remains shut. 

With Russia and China supporting Iran with weapons and technology the greatet risk of escalation for the USA is that, having seen the weakness of the western alliance, the BRICS powers might just decide the opportunity to destroy American economic dominance is too good to miss.  

The west can expect elevated gas, food and oil prices for a long time, government debt will become more expensive, living costs - already at crisis level due to misguided Net Zero policies - will continue to rise and the global economy will be plunged into recession. 

There is now no way out of this for Trump without regime change  and though he claimed the reigime had been destroyed the old guard are still in place, this is why the USA needs a negotiated peace. The only other way to end the war os a land invasion which requires hundreds of thousands of troops and offers no gurantee of success. There would be a 50 / 50 chance of another forever war like Iraq, Aghanistan or \vietnam. 

The White House and The Pentagon have miscslculated badly here, this blog warned Iran would be no pushover and most military experts said the same. The tolerance for pain from the regime is much greater than  Western poplations are prepared to put up with. I am no fan of the Islamists and have felt for a long time that Iran's theocratic regime needed to be dealt with however this is not going to end well for Trump or the global economy

New York Times Contacts Reality, Reveals How Zelensky Sabotaged Efforts To Clean Up Ukraines Corruption Problem

Its always good to be reminded we are ahead of the game so the news from Kiev and Washington this week is particularly satisfying.

 A New York Times investigation published last week, (some four weeks after Boggart Blog revealed the same corrupt activity by people associated with the Kiev regime,) has revealed that over the past four years, the Ukrainian government of putative President Vobblyvoddymyr Zelensky has"systematically sabotaged" oversight of the country's state-owned companies and weapons procurement processes, "allowing graft and embezzlement to flourish,"

The New York Times investigation, funded by that organisations abundant resources, provides more detail than we were able to offer on how the government of Volodymyr Zelensky sidelined outside experts from the US and EU serving on advisory boards responsible for monitoring spending, appointing executives, and preventing corruption. This is a significant change in the media's reporting, up to now the NYT like all other major news outlets has stuck to the narrative that Ukraine was holding its own against Russia's attack and with enought support from the USA / NATO could eventually defeat Russia and bring down Putin.

"President Volodymyr Zelensky's administration has stacked boards with loyalists, left seats empty, or stalled them from being set up at all. Leaders in Kiev even rewrote company charters to limit oversight, keeping the government in control and allowing hundreds of millions of dollars to be spent without outsiders poking around," the NYT report says.

The investigation was published amid a corruption scandal centering on close associates of  Ukrainian president Zelensky enjoying lifestyles of unbelievable excess. One close associate of the President fled the country shortly before a raid on his home exposed golden toilets and suitcases full of US Dollar bills. Officials of the NABU Anti-corruption agency have accused members of Zelensky's inner circle of embezzling $100 million from the state-owned nuclear power company, Energoatom.

"Mr. Zelensky's administration has blamed Energoatom's supervisory board for failing to stop the corruption. But it was Mr. Zelensky's government itself that neutered Energoatom's supervisory board."

In news that has not hit mainstream media yet we have learned the latest finding from NABU's Operation Midas and investigations into the Ukrainian energy sector have revealed that at least $50B was looted from Ukraine and parked in Estonian banks while front line troops were running out of ammunition. There are many implications to this, including major figures in NATO, including Kaja Kallas of Estonia and likely many more, (think Macron, Starmer, Merz...) had to know or even participate in the looting of Ukraine and the kickbacks of monies received from the taxpayers of the US and the EU.

All of that means that Trump is walking a tight-rope on ending the war, exposing the graft and keeping HATO intact. I don't see a way that he can simply walk away when the war is completed with a Russian victory without disrupting the current European paradigm in a major way.

As long as Zelensky and his cronies hang on, with support of France, Germany and Britain, the more likely it is that Trump is going to have to expose the fraud, call out major leaders and consider dissolving NATO. Frankly, I don't see how he can end the war without exposing the rotten core of the Ukrainian gangster state and shaking the EU to its neo Nazi foundations.

Same Old Same Old In Ukraine, Trumps Deal Will Fail Because Ukies Do Not Want Peace

US President Donald Trump's latest peace plan is dead,stillborn as all previous peace plans have been. While mainstream media reports and comment are blaming the Russians again, saying Putin does not want peace, the reality is that once again Ukraine's position, supported by most of its European allies, is that they will only agree to peace on their terms. This means in in effect that Ukraine does not want peace. 

The truth is Kyiv and its European sponsors seem to be in complete denial of the severity of Ukraine’s predicament. These latest negotiations are happening at a time Ukraine’s military is facing a number of bitter setbacks, with Russian forces approaching the important city of Zaporizhzhia from the east and besieging a large and strategicall vital Ukrainian garrison near Pokrovsk. 

Mass desertion from the army has crippled Ukrainian front line units and resulted in chaos. U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has told European ambassadors in Kyiv that “the honest US military assessment is that Ukraine is in a very bad position and that now is the time for peace.” 

Similarly, President Zelensky’s former spokeswoman Iuliia Mende, in a rare attck of realisml wrote on Novemnber 22nd that “Every subsequent deal for Ukraine will only be worse—because we are losing. We are losing people, territory, and the economy. … Many who reflexively oppose every peace proposal believe they are defending Ukraine. With all respect, that is the clearest proof they have no idea what is actually happening on the front lines and inside the country right now.” 

 Volodymyr Zelensky, currently entangled in a massive corruption scandal involving many of his cose associates, said this week that Ukraine risked losing the US as a military partner over Donald Trump’s peace plan.

“Now is one of the most difficult moments of our history,” the Ukrainian president said, calling it a choice between “a loss of dignity, or the risk of losing a key partner”. Unfortunately he omitted to mention that failure to agree peace now guarantees Ukraine will lose much more that dignity in the coming months. However Ukraine's dignity is not a priority for Zlensky and Co who must give themselves an out before the regimes final collapse because their greed and corruption will not be forgiven by a defeated nation.

The US has threatened to cut off the supply of weapons and intelligence to Kyiv unless it agrees to sign the US-Russia brokered deal to end the war. Russia's demands are harsh but not unreasonable when we remember it was the neo Nazi regime in Kiev that started the conflict back in 2014 when they embarked on ethnic cleansing of the Russian speaking eastern provinces

Donald Trump on Friday told Fox News that Ukraine had until Thursday to accept the terms of the deal, which he said was an “appropriate” timeline.

Kyiv’s European allies, led by the UK, Germany and France, are scrambling to help Kyiv put forward its own counter-proposal after opposing key parts of Mr Trump’s plan, including ceding control of the entire eastern Donbas region. But the Ukrainian regime does not want peace.

Vladimir Putin last Friday (21 November)  said the proposal formed the “basis for a final peace settlement”, confirming for the first time that he had officially received it.

Russia’s President indicated he has somewhat accepted the plan when he said that it could “serve as a foundation for a final peace settlement”. He complained however that no U.S. contact was willing to discuss the details with Russia:

The reason, in my opinion, is the same: the US administration has so far been unable to secure consent from the Ukrainian side, as Ukraine is opposed to it. Apparently, Ukraine and its European allies continue to entertain the illusion that they can inflict a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield. I believe this position is not so much the result of insufficient competence – I will not go into that now – but rather stems from an absence of objective information about the actual situation on the ground.

Either Kiev’s leadership lacks objective reporting about the developments on the front, or, even if they receive such information, they are unable to assess it objectively. If Kiev refuses to discuss President Trump’s proposals and declines to engage in dialogue, then both they and their European instigators must understand that what happened in Kupyansk will inevitably occur in other key areas of the front. Perhaps not as quickly as we would prefer, but inevitably.

And overall, this development suits us, as it leads to achieving the goals of the special military operation by force, through armed confrontation. However, as I have repeatedly stated, we remain ready for peace negotiations and for resolving issues through peaceful means. However, this, of course, requires substantive and meaningful discussion of all aspects of the proposed plan. We are prepared for this.

The Europeans issued their own plan which is just a repeat of their old demand of a ceasefire without conceding any of Russia’s demands. They are obviously trying to prevent an agreement and yet are reporting that the deal will fail because Russian does not want peace.

The Situation In Ukraine: Corruption In Kiev And Chaos At The Front

 

 

The situation in Ukraine is becoming even more desperate for the men and women at the fron fighting to defend their country.

The shooting war is going badly for Ukraine as is the war on infrastructure deep behind the contact line. A huge and escalating corruption scandal has recently neutered the power of  the Zelenski regime and while his personal involvement is denied several of his closest associates have fled the country only hours before they were due to be arrested. 

New power structures will evolve and it will fall to them to euther prolong the war or seek a negotiated settlement. US President Donald Trump is attempting to launch another peace initiative while Europe, having pledged to support Ukraine to the end, finds that it lacks the money to finance Ukraine and the war, or even to keep the lights on in the homes of its own citizens..

As things stand at the front there are at least seven cities which are falling or are destined to fall before the winter is over.

Of the two biggest and most strategically important, Kupyansk is largely under Russian control and Pokrovsk is to 95% in Russian hands. The Ukrainian military command had thrown in all its reserves to prevent the taking of Prokovsk and Kupiyansk. It was to no avail.

All regular Ukrainian brigades lack infantry and are depleted my mass desertion. while remaining troops are running out of ammunition. The constant Russian drone attacks have also taken a large toll on the logistic elements of those units.

Defense fortifications and buildings can no longer protect the soldiers. Each day Russia is using 200 or more glide bombs to demolish them. Drones and artillery strikes follow. Russian infantry sneaks in to mop up remaining resistance. It is a fairly slow process but it works for the Russians and is causing them a minimum of casualties. Ukraine is beaten but nobody is prepared to admit that.

Now as to the politics. The notion that the US runs the MABU anti-corruption certainly seems sensible enough. So it is quite likely the US has used its influence to protect former leader Poroshenko, who was pro-war, starting up the new offensive against the Donbas back in 2022 but Zelensky and his corrupt cronies have got away with skimming off donated finds and selling donated weapons to parties not involved in the Ukrainian conflict it seems unlikely that the US control is absolute. Thus so long as the current regime holds power the Ukies will not want peace.

The glee at seeing Zelensky embarrassed puts too much emphasis on the Ukrainian president personally. (There are nutjobs who write as if Zelensky were the Jewish boss of a Zionist conspiracy. He isn't, when the man is not busy playig the piano with his penis he is just an actor working to a script that is written for him. By whom, the CIA, the European Union or the Azov Brigade is anybodies guess.) 

We do not yet know what Trump's latest peace proposal may be but accepting Russia’s conditions is unthinkable for Western Europe and for  NATO. It would mean a blatant admission of failure and accompanying loss of face for everyone. It would be an admission that Russia has won. Anyone who hopes for this is dreaming.

Trump wants his peace treaty, i.e., a solution that leaves Russia on the defensive. In effect, this is nothing more than the constantly demanded ceasefire, just with a little more land gained for Russia, allowing Trump to portray himself as the peacemaker. An agreement that includes Russia’s demands will not happen. Equally The Kremlin will accept no peace unless its demands are met. Therefore peace will only be possible if Ukraine is detached from Western Europe and the US and those responsible for propping up the corrupt Ukraine regime in Kiev  are neutralized. If, as it seems, Zelensky, his corrupt regime and his Banderite bosses are on the way out, what happens next depens very much on who replaces him.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic Says Putin-Trump Summit Will Be Historic

 

 

The summit meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, set to take place in Hungary next week is likely to be historic, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has predicted.

The meeting in  Hungarian capital Budapest is expected to focus on resolving the Ukraine conflict. In  contrast to most other European states, Hungary has consistently opposed Brussels’ warmongering provocations and confrontational policies toward Russia and advocated for a more diplomatic approach.

Speaking to Serbian media on Friday, Vucic said he was “glad that [Hungarian] Prime Minister Viktor Orban got the opportunity to arrange perhaps the most important summit of the 21st century.” 

The Serbian leader, however, warned that “liberal” elements within the US and certain EU countries could attempt to derail the upcoming summit. That would represent a change as it is Zelensky and Ukraine that derails Trump's peace initiatives by launching terrrorist attacks on Russian civilians whenever a prospect of peace appears on the horizon.

On Saturday (October 18), Spain’s El Pais newspaper claimed that the planned Putin-Trump meeting in the heart of Europe was an “embarrassing and awkward situation” for the EU and NATO. Hungary is a member of both.

The report quoted an anonymous European diplomat as saying that choosing Budapest as the host city would likely deepen the “fissures within the EU over the Kremlin.” 

On Friday, Orban wrote on X that Budapest, with its “long-standing pro-peace leadership,” is the “only suitable place in Europe for a USA–Russia peace summit.” 

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto confirmed on Facebook that “preparations [for the summit] are in full swing.” 

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov suggested the same day that the meeting could take place within a few days.The choice of Hungary for the summit will have wiped the smile off the EU’s face.

The bloc has unsurprisingly been largely sidelined in the Ukraine peace talks, but since the outbreak of hostilities has angered Russia by constantly calling for escalation of the war and has poured weapons and ammunition into Ukraine.  The bureaucrats of Brussels are also smarting at the peripheral role they were reduced to in the Gaza peace plan, although their rabidly anti - Semitic stance on the war would only have obstrcted the path to peace.

The summit  will cause large amounts of pissedoffness in Kyiv as well. In the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, Ukraine agreed to give up its nuclear weapons in exchange for guarantees from Russia to respect its sovereignty, independence and borders. However lack of self awareness is typical of the neo - Nazi regime in Ukraine, how could they expect those guarantess to be upheld when, since being installed in a coup d'etat in 2014 they had been waging a campaign of ethic cleansing in ethnic Russian parts of their territory.

On Thursday, Trump and Putin spoke by phone for nearly two and a half hours – their first such conversation in almost two months. According to the Russian president’s chief foreign policy adviser, Yury Ushakov, the talks proved “very useful.” Trump similarly described his call with Putin as “very productive.” 

After his call with Putin,  Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a tense meeting on Friday that he doesn't intend to provide long-range Tomahawk missiles, which Ukraine and European NATO members had requested. Since the US President hinted that he might be willing to approve the release of Tomahawks for Ukraine mainstream media pundits had been rerunning their usual 'game changer' comedy routine claiming these missiles would swing the war in Ukraine's favour. What was not mentioned is that no European states have the money to buy cruise missiles for Ukraine.

What the media overlooked was that Trump did not ever say he would give Ukraine Tomahawks, but that he would sell the missiles to European governments for them to dontate to the Ukie effort to start World War III. 

In fact Tomahawks are old weapons dating from the cold war era and while they posess enormous destructive potention slow speeds and outdated technology would make them easy targets for Russia's air defence systems..

Zelensky hoped to leave Washington with commitments around new weapons for Ukraine, but found Trump in a totally different state of mind a day after his lengthy call with Russian president Vladimir Putin.
