After Hitting US Navy Bases, Next Logical Targets For Iran Are Target US Warships: Retired Russian Navy Captain

 Russian military expert and retired Captain First Rank Vasily Dandykin, commenting on Iran’s retaliation to the US and Israel’s  strikes on Iran's capital Tehran and other cities and industrial hubs around the country said, “Judging by satellite pictures, one thing is certain: some of [Iran’s] missile strikes hit their targets, including the base of the US 5th Fleet,

“While there were no ships there, it’s clear that the strike itself was significant. It’s clear the base’s famous radar dome – one of the most important and expensive elements of the US missile defense system, was damaged. Some estimates suggest it cost over $1B, and detects missile launches at long ranges. This is a major loss for the US, and because it probably works in Israel’s interest, theirs as well.”

 

Iran’s targeting of US bases likely also included “real losses” of personnel, something the administration may try to minimize, Dandykin believes.

 

Going forward, Iran could launch additional strikes on the bases it already hit, find new targets, and, “most likely,” target “American naval forces,” according to the observer. It seems the retired officer knows a thing or two because almost as soon as his comment had hit the online news sites we were hearing that Iran's Revolutionary Guard says it has targeted the massive US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln which was sent to Middle Eastern waters by President Donald Trump as part of its pressure campaign aimed at bringing down the Islamic theocracy that has ruled Iran for almost 50 years.

Iran's  forces launched four ballistic missiles toward USS Abraham Lincoln today (Sunday 1 March),  the elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp said in a statement reported by state media.

The giant warship is one of two aircraft carriers deployed to the region in recent weeks, and the only one relatively close to Iranian shores.The attempted strike is part of Iran’s revenge attacks after the US and Israel killed  supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei. 

The US military said it hit an Iranian ship as part of its ongoing operation.

"The ship is currently sinking to the bottom of the Gulf of Oman at a Chah Bahar pier," the US military wrote. "As the president said, members of Iran's armed forces, IRGC and police 'must lay down your weapons'. Abandon ship."

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer who spent the past week trying to appease President Trump and save his disatrous Chagos deal while simultaneously sucking up to the Iranian regime,  today abandoned this futile attempt to ride two horses with one arse, especially as he's better known as a sausage jockey than an equestrian stunt man, and declared UK support for the US / Israeli campaign.

It has often been said common sense is an uncommon quality. You can already see how the US and Israel are losing the plot in a conflict many fear could escalate into nulear war. Trump talks about four weeks, while Iran is ready to fight US and Israel for months, maybe years, and even US lawmakers can feel their president is in deep trouble, with no real plan after the first strikes. Needless to say, a prolonged war with Iran around the Gulf will lead to an energy crisis in the developed nations

It is the same show as last year when the US and Israel bombed Iran's nuclear plants, but decalred victory too soon: chest beating, “shock and awe,” TV bragging, bombs, planes, fireworks in the sky, but no real strategy and no way out. We saw this in Iraq, we saw it in Afghanistan. That is why I am sure US and Israel will end up stuck and bleeding.

And somewhere, Putin is watching all this, smiling, counting every mistake, knowing Washington is burning energy, money, and power in another endless war it cannot win.
