IRGC States Not One Drop Of Oil Will Pass Through The Strait Of Hormuz As Full Scale Conflict Resumes

Amid amid large scale exchanges of missile and drone fire across The PersianGulf  today between Iranian and US forces, we can be sure that the Trump-Netayahu on-off-on war with Iran is on again. The battle for Hormuz has ramped up after the United States has undertaken three consecutive nights of major bombing raids against Iranian targets.

The IRGC says they targeted enemy weapons and parts storages in Bahrain and Kuwait. This after the US appeared to attack some critical Iranian infrastructure on coastal islands.

Later the IRGC has issued a fresh statement via state media on Tuesday, saying that "as long as the US evil stays in the middle east, not a drop of oil and gas will be exported from the region." It said further, per the press release that US aggression will have no result other than delaying the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

All the while President Trump is said to be "very serious" about his plan to impose a 20% toll on cargo transiting through the Strait of Hormuz, a Semafor report says, citing a White House official who says the president has desired such a plan for months. Both warring sides are insisting that it is their side alone which will be 'guardian' over the strait.

ABC is meanwhile reporting during the mid-afternoon (US time) that American airstrikes on Iran have been underway for the last couple of course. And yet still, Iran's IRIB has said that the Islamic Republic "must control the entire Hormuz Strait in wartime".

That oil is the main weapon of Iran and the primary fear of USA is obvious. They thought the MOU would allow free access to every ship in both directions through The Strait Of Hormuz. Well, this is what they get for thinking they can out - bluff the Iranians. Why would Iran allow any unfriendly ships to pass when the US military started violating the clauses before, during and after the signing?? They knew this and got their oil out as fast as they could and used the American threats to drag their feet on the other vessels.

China reimporting is most likely refilling their reserves. An article a few weeks back indicated China wasn’t interested in Iranian oil and all the vessels headed there will be disappointed. Well, it was a propaganda piece. They were parking there because they knew the MOU was just buying time. Time Iran has used wisely, time the US squandered because it and its friends were not able to refill their reserves.

In total some 7 m bpd exited the Gulf region through new outlets. The releases from reserves and the lifting of sanctions contributed to additional supplies of some 3-5 m bpd. The reduction of Chinese import demand amounted to some 5 m bpd.

Due to all the above measures the global supply of about 100 m bpd only shrank to about 92-95 m bpd. Global demand, especially due to the Chinese measures, dropped to a nearly equal balance. The amount that was still missing in this rough calculation was drawn from reserves within the distribution and transport levels.

After all measures were in place demand and supply were balanced again and oil prices came down to a normal level of some $70+/bl.

When U.S. President Donald Trump decided to reignite the conflict he might have thought that the oil problem he had feared had gone away. He was wrong.

The War With Iran Is On - No It's Off - No It's On Again

The UK Maritime Trade Operations centre (UKMTO) reported late on Tuesday afternoon that it had received imformation about a tanker being hit by an Iranian drone and sustaining "minor structural damage" while passing through the  Strait of Hormuz., the gas and oil transit chokepoint at the entrance to the Persian Gulf.

The agency said no casualties or environmental impacted had been reported so far and that the vessel was "continuing to its next port of call".

Around 40 minutes earlier, UKMTO said another tanker was reportedly struck by an "unidentified projectile" in the Strait, taking "structural damage". Again no casualties have been reported, it added.

The agency is investigating the incidents and advised vessels in the area to proceed with caution.

Early on Tuesday morning, a third ship reported being hit in the region by an "unknown projectile on the port side," causing a fire, per UKMTO.

According to the agency, the ship was sailing south out of the Strait, close to Limah, Oman. Again, it said there were no recorded casualties or impacts to the environment.

Iran's Fars News Agency claimed one of the ships struck in the Strait is the Al-Ruqayat, which was targeted after allegedly ignoring IRGC navy warnings while passing through the Strait's Omani route. Tehran has said only its approved route through the Strait of HOrmuz is safe. The elite Iranian IRGC resiment did not directly claim the assault, but The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had fired at two commercial ships.

Majed Al Ansari, a spokesperson for Qatar's foreign ministry, has condemned the attack on the Qatari tanker, calling it an "unacceptable attack on the security & safety of international maritime navigation".

Ansari added that the government of Qatar held Iran "fully legally responsible for this attack & for any resulting damages & consequences".

The Strait of Hormuz has been at the centre of tensions between Washington and Tehran and is a key part in the "memorandum of understanding" agreed by the two sides in June, but constant violations suggest a deal to end the war is as far off as ever

Iran had effectively closed off the Strait after the US launched military action against Iran in February, sparking chaos in global energy markets. Iran's latest violations of the fragile ceasefire come as the world waited for President Trump's response to attacks on commercial shipping at the end of last month. Many commentators opine that negotiations will collapse and full scale war will erupt again as Iran continues to weaponise the strait against The USA and Israel.

Brent crude oil rose 1.4pc to $73 a barrel following the strike, which Iranian state television said happened after the liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker ignored warnings. Crude oil and Brent is still lower than when the Iran war started and the Gas price before the Ukrainian War started. Yet our petrol is 20p a litre higher and The Energy Cap is 30% higher. We are being totally ripped off and shop prices continue to rocket dur to the transport and energy costs. The cost of living crisis is being ignored by the media but it's forcing millions into debt or poverty.

Oil as a commodity is INCREDIBLY cheap. Just look at a 25 year timeline and take inflation into account. It is the stinking greedy Government that is milking us.

And UK's crazy 'Minister for Net Zero' Ed Miliband is hellbent on locking us into the highest electricity prices in the developed world.

Yes, Iran Has Actually Closed The Strait Of Hormuz Again

After a news pantomime last night and earlier today (Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz ... Oh no they haven't ... Oh yes they have,) it has finally been confirmed that Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz once again over Israel's air strikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, which Iran describes as“violations” of the peace deal agreed with the USA, Tehran’s military has said. Technically Hezbollah is not part of Trump's war and the conflict between the terrorit organisation's forces in Lebanon and the Israelis is a separate issue.

The Iranian military command ‌stated the closure was the “first ‌step” in response to what it described as breaches of the ceasefire agreement, warning that further measures would ‌be taken if “aggression” continued, Iran's state media reported.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned vessels not to venture into  the shipping lanes through the strait, saying their security would be at risk.

The US military immediately denied that Iran had control of the strait. A spokesman for Central Command said: “Traffic continues to move through the strait, and US forces are monitoring the situation ‌to ensure this remains the case.”

The reports emerged as JD Vance, the US vice-president, told Fox News that ‌he was confident the ceasefire agreed in Washington’s 14-point deal with Tehran would hold. He claimed there was no evidence that the strait was shut. That may well be true but it is equally true that there is no evidence it is open. What captain is going to risk his ship and the lives of himself and his crew trying to find out.

Independent reports reveal Israeli strikes on Lebanon killed 16 people this morning, with the country claiming it was responding to attacks by Hezbollah. But these strikes are nothing to do with Trump or America.

Israel is not the USA. Israel is a sovereign state, whether Iran recognises its right to exist or not. (Spoiler, it doesn't.) Israel is not a signatory. to the Islamabad Memorandum. Hezbollah is not the government of Lebanon and neither are its commanders the IRGC.

Israel is not leaving the buffer zone south of the Litani river and is not allowing Hezbollah to rearm and return to the border to carry out another Hamas style, or worse, October 7th.Hezbollah is a proscribed terrorist group and is widely recognised as an  Iranian asset.

The Lebanese army are too weak to control the 90,000 strong Iranian proxy militia, Hezbollah.

UNIFIL (The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) set up in 2006 has not succeeded disarming Hezbollah and not keeping them north of the Lebanon / Israel  border. Thus it is wholly disingenuous of Iran to use the Israel - Hezbollah conflict as an excuse for closing Hormuz again, and suggests the government of Iran had no intention of honouring the peace deal. No surprise there.

So much for treaties not worth the paper they are written on. So much for useless UN bodies which are actually in favour of the erasure of Israel.

UPDATE - Sunday 21 June, 22:00

Though White House and Pentagon sources have continued throughout today that contrary to Iran's claims The Strait of Hormuz remains open for business as usual, Windward on X has this:

Hours after the IRGC's closure announcement, AIS traffic through the Strait of Hormuz suggested business as usual. But overnight, the picture shifted: zero AIS transits were recorded through the strait, and only two non-Iranian commercial vessels were AIS-visible this morning. Hesitation is back in an already unpredictable corridor.

So as another round of talks, this time in Switzerland, breaks up it looks as though the war is still on

Trump Says Deal With Iran Is Close - Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei Says 'Death To America'

Two days ago US President Donald Trump told a White House press briefing an agreement with Iran has been "largely negotiated" and details will be announced soon.

The deal would include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, he said on Saturday, without giving further details.

Trump wrote on social media that he had a "very good call" with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and others about a "Memorandum of Understanding pertaining to PEACE".

"An agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalisation between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries, as listed," his Truth Social read.

In response an Iranian foreign ministry spokesman told state television that US and Iranian positions had been converging in the last week, but warned that did not mean agreements would be reached on key issues and accused the Americans of "contradictory statements.

A British Prime Minister of the 1960 once famously said 'A week is a long time in politics.' That was then and this is now, a digital age of information overload when a week is almost eternity and Two days is an aeon.

While Tump was again calling for peace today (May 26 ), Iranian leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei issued a message  calling for greater unity across the Muslim world against the United States and Israel, saying that the chants “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” will become the rallying slogans of Muslims and “the oppressed of the world.”

Khamenei’s message was to mark Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage. In it, Khamenei described a historic struggle against U.S. and Israeli influence in the Middle East, repeatedly invoking the revolutionary slogan “Allahu Akbar” as the “weapon” that had enabled Iran and its allies to resist outside pressure.

He said Iran had succeeded in “making the Zionist regime helpless under its severe blows during the second imposed war” and in delivering “a harsh slap to aggressive America,” while thwarting efforts to force Tehran into submission.

The statement also praised what it called the “Resistance Front,” saying Iranian forces and allied fighters in Lebanon had secured “notable victories” against “the two terrorist armies, armed to the teeth by the American-Zionist side.”

Khamenei coupled the aggressive rhetoric with a broader appeal for cooperation among Muslim-majority countries, calling on Muslim leaders to “no longer serve as shields for American bases” while denouncing Israel as a “faltering” regime that was nearing “the final stages of its cursed life.”

Khamenei’s message came as the United States, Israel, and Iran remain locked in a tense standoff following months of fighting that included U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities, Iranian retaliation across the region, and disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

An aspect of the conflict's wider impact that is not being discussed in mainstream media is the increase in terrorist activity since the outbreak of hostilities initially between Israel and Iran around three months ago. Iran had long been known as the main sponsor of The Muslim Brotherhood, an organisation formed to take jihad into the western democracies. Yet many western leaders are so committed to virtue signalling they refuse to ban the organisation.

Although the ceasefire Trump negotiated has largely held for the past month, with only minor violations by both sides, negotiations continue over a proposed memorandum of understanding intended to end hostilities and establish a framework for future talks.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on May 25 that negotiations with Tehran were “proceeding nicely” but warned that failure to secure an acceptable agreement could lead to renewed military action.

Earlier today we heard that overnight.US forces carried out “defensive” strikes on a missile site and two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) mine-laying boats, which officials said were targeting the United States.

Iran immediately accused the US of violating the ceasefire (although to be fair both sides have been violating it on a daily basis,) and criticised the “bad faith and unreliability” of Washington, adding that it would be held accountable for “all consequences arising from these hostile acts”.

“Without any doubt, the Islamic Republic of Iran will leave no aggression unanswered and will not hesitate in defending Iran’s sovereignty with the utmost determination,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

And so it looks as if we are back to square one. Start stocking up your survival cupboards folks, oil and a lot of things that depend on  oil are going to be in short supply for a while yet.

Trump's Project Freedom Fail As Iran's Blockade Of Strait Of Hormuz Holds.

Marco Rubio said: 'We're now on to this project of freedom'
Marco Rubio said: ‘We’re now on to this project of freedom’ Credit: Mark Schiefelbein/AFP

In a rare appearance at a White House press briefing, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio fielded questions about the state of play in the Persian Gulf conflict and tried to talk up the next phase of America’s war with Iran which apparently involve the US Navy reopening the Strait by escorting commercial vessels through the important sea route.

Explaining that Operation Epic Fury without actually acknowledging it had turned into Operation Abject Failure Rubio invited questions about Project Freedom, the Trump administration’s mission to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Sadly nobody in the press corps had the nous to ask what the war had been all about, a question that may have elicited the response that nobody in The White House really knew but attacking Iran had seemed like a good idea at the time.

In a session that seemed more like an audition for a presidential run in 2028 he told reporters that the US navy was conducting a “defensive” operation aimed at breaking the Iranian blockade that had choked global oil supplies since the war began.

In his turn Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth insisted that US destroyers guiding commercial ships through the strait with the support of fighter jets, helicopters and drones were engaged in a humanitarian effort (presumably to help distressed global corporations survive the hardship of having suply lines of petrochem products disrupted,). Despite a barrage of missiles from Iran, the ceasefire, Hesgeth said, was still intact and Project Freedom was succeeding in breaking the blockade.

Then The Defense Secretary, who has spent months touting the firepower of the US military and its strikes on thousands of Iranian targets, said: “We are not looking for a fight.”

Hesgeth spoke true, only hours after he and Rubio had faced the cameras to spin the new mission, it was over. Without mentioning that US Navy vessels on escort duty in the Gulf and its approaches had been attacked by Iranian forces The President himself, in a post on Truth Social, announced Project Freedom had been paused to give Iran time to make a deal.

Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social late on Tuesday: “We have mutually agreed that, while the Blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (The Movement of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the Agreement can be finalized and signed.”

Only two oil tankers had made it through the strait by the time Mr Trump bowed to the inevitable and looked for another way out of the deadlock.

The decision represented another abrupt U-turn by the president, who is becoming desperate to find a way out of the conflict that has dragged on far longer than anyone in the US Administration predicted was always reckless and foolish and based on a total underestimation of the opposition's abilities.

Is Europe Going To Be Written Off As Collateral Damage In Trump's Plan For World Domination?

The almost complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz is really starting to bite in the wider world as oil stocks dwindle, prices rise and disruption in supply chains threatens shortages of food and other vital commodities.

Negotiations between the US and Iran are stalled. We hear and read stories about people from the US and Iran flying here, there and everywhere to take part in 'talks, but the negotiations that are supose to lead to an agreed settlement are' not really happening at all.

Over the weekend online news site Axios reported that Iran presented the US with a proposal to reopen the Strait, not to end the war. That proposal includes extending Trump's ceasefire and an assertion that any conversations about Iran’s nuclear program are off  the agenda until the Strait is reopened and the US blockade is lifted. The US has not indicated whether it will accept or reject the proposal at the time of writing.

Assuming the US does agree to extend its indefinite ceasefire that is of negligable significance. Remember, keeping the Strait open was a condition of the current ceasefire as agreed to on April 8, and we can all see how well that held up. Just take a look at fuel prices at the pump.

While conversations between the US and Iran stall, Iran is making friends elsewhere. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi met with Putin yesterday, as Bloomberg reported that Araghchi told Putin he is “committed to strengthening the country’s partnership with Russia” and that “the Iranian people are able to ‘resist US aggression and will be able to overcome it.’”

Iran and Russia may be cosying up, but the US and Germany are not. During a visit to a school in western Germany, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that the Trump Administration was being “humiliated” by Iran: “The Iranians are clearly stronger than expected and the Americans clearly have no truly convincing strategy in the negotiations either. A whole nation is being humiliated by the Iranian leadership.”

Trump has not yet commented on Merz’ claims.

The longer the Strait remains closed, the longer the European economy, and energy complex, is squeezed. Germany, like The UK, Fance, Spain and Italy has rejected Trump’s calls to support his bid to reopen The Strait under NATO, control. This is despite German leaders softly echoing support of US military efforts.

Europe has drafted a plan to re-open the Strait after the war has ended, that is not enough to appease Trump, who has made his demands for NATO participation in the Iran war clear. But the question remains just how much collateral damage Europe is willing to be subject to in the pursuit of keeping its hands clean.

Europe’s and in particular Germany's reliance on energy from the Middle East and direct flows through the Strait of Hormuz, since the supply from Russia died up suggest that they are in for more pain than the US under a prolonged closure

Germany was hit harder by the war in Ukraine than any other west European nation as German industry was hugely dependent of oil and gas pumped directly from Russia via the Nordstream pipeline until that was sabotaged, allegedly by Ukrainian military personnel supported by US and NATO technology and expertise.

At the same time, Europeans don’t have a fanatical obduracy to soak up the pain like the Iran (or rather, the IRGC at the expense of the Iranian people). If negotiations fail to result in a somewhat peaceful re-opening of the Strait and conclusion of the US naval blockade, Europe may have no choice but to get involved, particularly as Trump's recent move to out Venezuelan dictator Madruro effectively gave the USA contol of that country's vast oil reserves, and recent suggestions Trump may be plotting a 'friendly takover' of Cuba, an impoverished failed state after 65 years of communist dictatorship, which if successful would put the untapped oilfieds in Cuba's eclusive economic zone under US control.

It’s probable that the Trump Administration is aware of this. Trump has lambasted European leaders for refusing to support the US and in some cases, outright refusing to cooperate. If the US keeps the Strait closed and inflicts enough second-hand damage on Europe, Trump may be able to achieve the NATO military “cooperation” he has been asking for.

As Trump's Ceasefire Breaks Down In The Strait of Hormuz We Ask What Is This War Really About?

 by Egbert Nohbakkon

There's been a lot of claim and counterclaim since  Trump's Truth Social Post earlier this week: first he demanded that eight young women whom he said were on death row in Iran for protesting against the theocratic regime must be released. Then on Thursday Trump proclaimed that Iran complied.

But Iran rejects the whole narrative from the start. "Trump was misled once again by fake news," the Islamic Republic judiciary's official Mizan Online website said. "The women who were claimed to be on the verge of execution, some of them have been released, while others face charges that, if convictions are upheld, would at most result in imprisonment."

HOwever instead of peace talks today, the US-Iran ceasefire is on the brink of collapse and the situation in Strait of Hormuz is heating up

Despite  Trump's two-week deadline for reaching a deal ending today, Vice President JD Vance never boarded a plane to Pakistan for further negotiations as had been advertised and neither did anyone from Iran. Instead, Donald Trump extended the ceasefire indefinitely and the IRGC has today attacked several more international ships in the Strait.

Is the war about to restart? Who knows what might happen next with unpredictable characters like Trump and Netanyahu squaring up to the equally unpredictable Ayatollahs and religious fanatics in Tehran..

So far Israel is the only winner in this war, they got what they wanted - the destruction of Arab countries in the gulf and Lebanon.  As usual the Arabs & Iran were placed to fight each other as is common practice to have neighboring countries fight each other - most recently Ukraine & Russia, in the past France and Germany, China and Japan, Russia and Turkey, etc..  Trump has also diverted oil tankers from the Gulf to Houston, Lousiana, Alaska, Venezuela . ..  thus capitalising on the disruption of Arab country oil resources and suply lines.

The same was done in the early days of the war in Ukraine. The Biden  adminitration destroyed with sanctions and sabotage the vital flow of cheap oil and gas from Russia to the European Union and NATO member states.   The main purpose of that escapade was to steal away the oil market from Russia and place the market under 100% US control.  The US stole the entire oil and LNG market away from Russia under pretext of the war to liberate Ukraine. Trump at least understands the world still runs on hydrocarbons, and is trying to re-establish US hegmony by controlling that vital resource.

A factor in the longevity of the conflict in Ukraine is that neither the Ukies nor the Russians really want peace. They are puruing ancient hatreds and appear to want to destroy each other. The same can be said of Israel (Zionism) and the Iranian Islamist regine.

This war is much the same. Under the pretext of liberating the oppressed people of Iran, the very predictable Iranian response of weaponising the Strait of Hormuz, has blocked all oil trade of the main middle east economies and enabled The USA to use the war as a pretext to steal the oil markets in the Middle East and shift them to the US , in effect stealing the oil markets again. It looks as if the purpose of the closing of the Strait of Hormuz is not Iran, it is to seize the oil market from the Arab countries and move this oil market to the US. A big gamble.

The longer the Arabs are landlocked, the easier to seize this market permanently.  That is why opening the hormuz is not a priority for trump.  the longer this war last and the more the Arabs fight with the Iranians the more damage to the oil infrastructure in the Gulf which will take 5 to 10 years to recover. In the meanwhile, trump will have seized the oil market from the Arabs.

The EU will have severe problems. They lack energy and airline traffic have already become severely curtailed because NATO jets have preference for jet fuel.  Tourism will be severely constrained 2026, fuel costs for business, domestic and transport use are rocketing and a rapid rise in the cost of living is driving many European citizens into poverty.

There really is only one way to end this war. That is to force open the Straits and erect a sea route seige on Iran with no imports or exports. Iran has the capability of occasionally getting lucky with attacking a ship. But with complete air security, surveillance drones and rapid response military the great majority of such attacks would fail, especially with a convoy system in place. All that is then needed is for the USA and friendly governments of the Gulf to provide war insurance to shipping. The cost will be small compared to the cost of conventional attacks.

It is our fear of casualties, no matter how few that gives Iran its ace card. We have to rediscover our martial spirits and accept that this is a war and people on both sides get hurt. The question is: do the people with the power to end the war want to end it.
