For lockdown sceptic Molly Kingsley, the discovery that she was spied on by the Government in an attempt to curtail discussion of its controversial coronavirus policies has been nothing short of horrifying.

The mother of two, 44, was disgusted to find out articles she had written for this newspaper cautioning against school closures, the wearing of face masks in classrooms and the vaccination of children had been flagged by the Counter-Disinformation Unit (CDU), set up by ministers to tackle supposed domestic “threats”.

Yet having endured three years of hatred and abuse for standing up for parents and children during the pandemic, she wasn’t surprised to read Saturday’s Daily Telegraph’s expose, revealing that as well as covertly monitoring lockdown critics with artificial intelligence – social media firms may have used technology to stop certain posts being promoted, circulated or widely shared after being pinpointed by the CDU or its counterpart in the Cabinet Office.

Some posts were even removed from social media altogether following meetings of the Counter-Disinformation Policy Forum, which brought together civil servants from the DCMS and technology giants – including Facebook and Google – as well as the BBC to discuss how to limit the spread of what was considered Covid-19 disinformation. ...

Russia Says It Put Down Major Ukrainian Offensive Hours After It Began

Did Ukraine forces just attempt to kick off their much anticipated major counteroffensive, only to have it put down immediately after it began?

That's what the Russian Defense Ministry (MoD) suggested early Monday in announcing that Ukraine began a "large-scale offensive" in mounting attacks along five sections of the frontlines in the eastern Donbas region. But Russia said it thwarted the major attack and that some 250 Ukrainian troops were killed, which included Ukraine sending six mechanized and two tank battalions to Russian-controlled southern Donetsk.

"On the morning of June 4, the enemy launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the front in the South Donetsk direction," the MoD statement began. "The enemy has failed to reach its goals and was unsuccessful."

It added that in total the attacking forces lost six tanks, three infantry vehicles, and 21 armored vehicles in what would mark a significant defeat if confirmed. While they are being promoted around the world as a crucial weapon in reducing carbon emissions, solar panels only have a lifespan of up to 25 years.

Experts say billions of panels will eventually all need to be disposed of and replaced.

"The world has installed more than one terawatt of solar capacity. Ordinary solar panels have a capacity of about 400W, so if you count both rooftops and solar farms, there could be as many as 2.5 billion solar panels.," says Dr Rong Deng, an expert in solar panel recycling at the University of New South Wales in Australia.

According to the British government, there are tens of millions of solar panels in the UK. But the specialist infrastructure to scrap and recycle them is lacking.

Energy experts are calling for urgent government action to prevent a looming global environmental disaster.

"It's going to be a waste mountain by 2050, unless we get recycling chains going now," says Ute Collier, deputy director of the International Renewable Energy Agency.

World Health Assembly Cites Need to ‘Restrict Personal Liberties’ and Expand WHO’s Emergency Powers

The World Health Organization this week concluded its 76th World Health Assembly without ratifying a new pandemic treaty or the proposed amendments to the International Health Regulations, but members did issue new calls to “restrict personal liberties” during health emergencies.

The World Health Organization (WHO) this week concluded its 76th World Health Assembly (WHA) without ratifying a new pandemic treaty or the proposed amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR).

However, the meetings, held May 21-30 in Geneva, Switzerland, did include announcements about new WHO bodies created to respond to pandemic threats and new calls to “restrict personal liberties” during health emergencies.

The meetings also included circulation of the new “bureau’s text” of the pandemic treaty, dated May 22, but the WHA did not make available an updated document for the proposed IHR amendments.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged member states to reach an agreement on both instruments by 2024.

Independent journalist James Roguski, who has extensively tracked the pandemic treaty and IHR amendment negotiations, described this year’s WHA as “a big theatrical production.”

“You can focus on a million details and forget that what they are doing is negotiating these documents,” Roguski told The Defender. “It’s a dog and pony show.”

Roguski said it was always the WHO’s plan not to ratify the treaty and amendments during the WHA meetings, despite warnings to the contrary by some analysts whom he accused of “fearmongering.” It was “always their schedule … they’ve been saying all along they’re shooting for 2024,” he said. ... UK School staff receive threats of violence amid anti-vaccination campaign

Staff at one of the schools allegedly targeted by "anti-vaccination" campaigners have received abusive” and violent threats according to the head teacher.

David Phillips, head of Chilwell School in Beeston, Nottingham, has warned school staff to be prepared for possible protests outside the school after receiving threatening phone calls, emails and a “poster attack” in just 48 hours.

Mr Phillips told the PA news agency that he has reported the rise in anti - vaccine activity at the school as he condemned the actions of the anti-vaccination campaigners as “reprehensible”. To label the protestors "anti - vaccine protestors" is typical of the hysteria generated by government and corporate actors in response to any criticism or questioning of the experimental, untested and, from figures reported to the American VAERS (Vacccine Adverse Reaction Reporting System) the European Union's EudraVigilance database an the UK MHRA's Yellow Card system.

Deaths closely following vaccination with the COVID vaccines approved only for emergency use, have now surpassed by many thousands of times the number at which any other vaccine or medication would be withdrawn on safety grounds. That number is 50 and so far almost 25,000 deaths have occurred in people who had recently been vaccinated against COVID.

The other points to note are that children under 16 (and young adults for that matter,) have almost zero risk of becoming ill with COVID so parents are rightly concerned that the government has given , in one of its most authoritarian and fascistic measures yet, has given approval in principle to schools vaccinating children without parental consent. Though this is not happening so fer, the heavy handed tactics being used to pressure reluctant parents into giving consent are unacceptable.

In recent decades there has been a trend towards the usurpation of parental rights by schools and education authorities, but couples with plummeting standards and the replacement of lessons in academic topics with indictrination in left wing ideology has created a deep mistrust of schools among parents.

This incident and others around the country come after a government minister insisted teachers should not face “unacceptable” pressure from anti-vaccination protesters amid the rollout of the Covid-19 jab to children aged between 12 and 15. If the government believes that they should not have involved schools in the roll out of these highly suspect vaccines which do not immunise the recipent, do not prevent vaccinated people passing on the virus and have caused record levels of adverse reactions. If fact the only thing these vaccines do efficiently is boost corporate profits.

The vaccination programme for 12 to 15-year-olds will reduce educational disruption, it is claimed, by alleviating the need for pupils to quarantine and self isolate after being in contact with a person who has tested positive. This is unscientific bollocks of course, as the whole of the "science led" response to this hoax pandemic. The notion that people who have no symptoms can pass on the virus has no basis in medical science, claims made by vaccine manufacturers and government health advisers that there is no such thing as natural immunity and immunity can only be gained through vaccination is irrational to the point of insanity, if there is no such thing as natural immunity how did the human race survive Smallpox, Typhoid, Cholera, Tuberculosis and The Black Death, all of which were around centuries before vaccines were invented.

And how is it that the unvaccinated among us are now, proportionately, less likely to get sick from COVID than the double vaccinated. And where, if the vaccines work, is the logic in the government claims that those of us currently unvaccinated must be vaccinated in order to protect people who have been vaccinated from being infected by us. What is the point of being vaccinated and if the vaccinated can still carry the infection how will vaccinating all of us protect anyone?

On Thursday, Conservative frontbencher Alex Burghart condemned “dreadful anti-vaccination protests” taking place outside schools – which are primarily the sites where vaccines are being offered to children. The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) has urged campaigners to stop targeting schools amid reports of protesters leafleting students.

This blog urges schools to cease and desist from cooperation with the fascist government and stop usurping parental rights. Only then will they regain trust. Until they remember their role is to provide education, not to replace parents, angry parents have the right to tear the school apart if they suspect theie children and being mentally or physically abused or are being coerced into accepting medication without parental consent.

Are the people to blame for the Covid spread – or are we using the wrong control measures?

Are You Smarter Than Your Kids?

As the ongoing debate about whether exams are getting easier fades into a background buzz of people saying "rhubarb, rhubarb" until next year, ITV which has been somewhat tardy in getting its autumn schedules onto our screens had to resort to squeezing a peak time documentary from the tired controversy by getting a group of parents to sit the exams pupils have just taken.

Asking "are you smarter than your kids" is not the same as asking if exams are getting easier of course so the program falls down at once.

The fact that should concern us because it relates to the pertinent question of whether our kids are getting crap education just so the statistics can look good for the sake of the politicians is "why are more entrants passing and average grades rising each year." Empirical evidence suggests that while pupils are leaving school with truckloads of As and Bs each year many are lacking even basic skills.

I have always had doubts about the efficacy of education and what is more the A to Z (well A to W which is near enough) of wise men are with me on that. "What we must learn to do we learn by doing," Aristotle said, while Oscar Wilde declared "nothing that is worth learning can possibly be taught." Too right. Most of what I learned at school has turned out to be totally irrelevant in real life. I recall my problems with Pythagoras' Theorem and a certain looney maths teacher called Batty Bland. All maths teachers are looney to some degree of course but in the "Stark Raving Bonkers In The Head stakes Batty led the field by a distance.

"But what use it sir," I asked each time he tried to explain that the square of the hypotenuse does something utterly pointless and boring.

At last he gave in and tried to explain it though a practical analogy. "If you are out walking and see a tall building Thorpe, by using Pythagoras you can find out how tall it is."

I promise you, hand on heart, that while having appreciated the aesthetic qualities of many tall buildings I have never felt tempted to work out how tall they are. Never, ever!

In life, as we learn practical lessons, the academic mush of school is usually forgotten, to be replaced by things that are relevant to our lives. I was always a duffer at maths, still am. As a result of a condition possibly related to dyslexia, my mind goes blank when I am confronted with an algebraic equation and yet in my job I could solve the complex problems posed by needing to balance telecommunications traffic across a network. Quite simply that was a practical problem and I can do practical. What we have to learn to do we learn by doing.

Where modern education fails is in its focus on the narrow objective of passing exams. The purpose of education is not to force feed pupils on information so they can regurgitate it on examination day, education should tech them to want to learn. Life is much richer if we learn constantly and for us to want to learn constantly we must be made curious.
When pupils are leaving school without their curiosity ignited then education is failing.
