There Jaron Lanier and I were, side by side on my computer screen, in a virtual space that looked a little like a conference room and a little like a movie theater. We could've been jurors, maybe. I was able to approximate rubbing his head. “As you have discovered,” Lanier said, noticing, “you can reach and interact with people a little bit. So there is this shared-space quality.” He was in Berkeley, California, in the hills above the city, in a house that looks out over the bay. I was in Los Angeles. Five minutes ago we were in our own separate video-chat windows, the ones many of us now see as we're going to sleep, our dumb faces staring back at us. Then he had hit some buttons. Now we were together.
Lanier calls this technology Together mode; he helped design it this spring for Microsoft, where he has a post as an in-house seer of sorts. Initially he'd conceived of Together mode as a way to help Stephen Colbert—in whose house band Lanier sometimes performs when he's in New York—figure out how to host his show in front of a remote audience. (Lanier is sometimes credited as the father of virtual reality; he is also sometimes credited as the owner of the world's largest flute, in addition to the many other exotic instruments he collects and expertly plays.) But mostly he was trying to solve, as he's been doing since the early '80s, a problem relating to technology and how humans might use it. In this case: How could we better, more naturally communicate with one another in the middle of a pandemic?
He explained a bit more about how Together mode worked, how it soothed what the medium had previously tended to aggravate. Being side by side, instead of separated—and being able to make eye contact, as we now could—worked on the psychology; it made you a little more playful, a little more relaxed. It might even help build, in the words of the NBA—which swiftly adopted Together mode as a way to project remote fans onto courtside monitors in otherwise empty Florida arenas—“a sense of community.”

“People who are addicted to Twitter,” Lanier said, “are like all addicts—on the one hand miserable, and on the other hand very defensive about it and unwilling to blame Twitter.”

“What I'm hoping,” Lanier said, gesturing around our virtual space, “is that people find a little bit of well-being in it. Like, we can't pretend it'll do that much, because everything sucks, but it's a little something. It should help a bit.” ... Continue reading >>>

Seattle BLM protesters demand white people ‘give up’ their homes

Black Lives Matter protesters in Seattle, Washington State, one of the U.S. cities in which civil unrest has continued unabated since the death of George Floyed back in May, marched through a residential suburb this week demanding that white residents give up their homes to be occcuppied by blacks. dramatic video shows.

The video shows a crowd of protestors, including some virtue signalling whites chanting “Black lives matter” before an unidentified man steps up to the lens saying they are living in a historically black section of the city as another woman in the crowd yells that they should “give up” their homes.

“Do you know that before your white ass came here, this was all black people?” the obviously unstable man says. “Do you know people like you came in here and basically bought all the land from the black people for less than what it was worth, kicked them out so you could live here? Do you know that?”

The man continues: “’Cause if you don’t, now you f–king do — now do something about it!”

A woman in the crowd then urges the residents to “open their wallet” as the man continues to yell at the unidentified residents off-camera.

“So how do you plan to fix it?” the man continues. “As a gentrifier, because you are part of that problem.”

A woman with a megaphone then urges the residents to “give up” their house, the footage shows.

“Give black people back their homes!” she yells. “You’re sitting there comfortably — comfortable as f—k as if they didn’t help gentrify this neighborhood! I used to live in this neighborhood, and my family was pushed out, and you’re sitting up there having a good time with your other white friends!”

These people are obviously suffering a collective mental breakdown, one of the things they claim they are aiming to achieve is the removal of Donald Trump from The White House. Howeveer no sane person could possibly believe their violent, criminal behaviour is doing anything other than helping the Trump campaign win re - election.

For every 3 COVID19 deaths lockdown may have caused 2 more - Official

The 4 month lockdown imposed by government on the advice of "scientists" whose mathematical models of reality predicted 500,000 deaths from a virus that realists in the medical profession said poses almost zero risk to healthy people under the age of seventy, may have indirectly caused 16,000 excess deaths in two months, according to government analysts. This is what those medical realists, sensible people in the world of business and a few honest scientists (the kind who believe science is rooted in understanding reality, not playing with mathematical models,) predicted at the outset.

This blog was one which warned that if lockdown was imposed the long term consequences would be more deadly than the virus, had we protected those known to be more vulnerable (the old and frail and people with long term health problems,) We were not alone of course, many thousands of bloggers and alt_news sites gave out the same message, that lockdown and the other measures imposed by government were an insane panic.

The latest report from The Office of National Statistics (ONS) says a reluctance to attend A&E and difficulties accessing medical assistance likely meant that for every three deaths from coronavirus itself, a further two occurred because of the wider impact of the lockdown.

And this is only the start. Down the line you can expect premature deaths from cancer, cardio - vascular problems, diabetes and a host of other heath issues to pile up because of delayed diagnoses and treatmeants due to the lockdown.

These findings provide a possible explanation for the prime minister's recent claim that another full national lockdown would only be considered as a "nuclear option". It would be nice if Boris and his gang admitted they got it hopelessly wrong and fired all the "sciencetits" special advisers and civil servants who supported lockdown, and promised never to listen to such Cultural Marxist idiots again

The ONS estimates, supported by and analysts from several government departments, suggest there were 38,500 excess deaths in England connected to COVID-19 between March and 1 May, a figure that is due to be revised downwards due to counting errors according to government sources.

However, the report concludes 41% of those deaths were the result of missed medical care rather than the virus itself.

Of the 16,000 deaths, the report estimates 6,000 were as a result of a "significant reduction in A&E attendances and emergency admissions".

It states: "Some of this is unmet need, possibly due to patients' reluctance to seek medical attention or other changes to protocols."
The report states that the other 10,000 excess deaths likely occurred in care home settings due to patients having been discharged from hospitals, or not wanting to be transferred to hospital.

Although the calculations found that 2,500 lives may have been saved by people adopting healthier lifestyles during lockdown, the modelling suggests there could be a further 26,000 excess deaths by March 2021 as a result of ongoing restrictions to medical care. We can ignore that bit of course as it is based on mathematical models.

Overall the analysis estimates there could be a total of 81,500 non-coronavirus excess deaths as a result of longer waiting times for non-urgent elective care, as well as increased deprivation resulting from a deep recession. The document was presented to the government's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) last month, but was only released on Friday 7 August. It's surprising they released it at all, although there are signs accept having lost control of the situation as nobody believes a word of the propaganda any more and people are ignoring mask rules and social distancing and heading for the beach. to enjoy the few days good weather we are due for.

A new study by academics at the School of Business and Economics and The University of Sheffield, and economic consultants at Economic Insight, seeks to provide a more statistically robust approach to the question: “How many deaths in England and Wales are due to COVID-19?”.

Currently COVID-associated deaths or excess deaths are used to track the impact of the virus. However these figures may be distorted as to record a COVID-associated death you require only weak evidence that COVID ‘may’ have contributed to the death, and counting excess deaths assumes that any variation in weekly mortality relative to a five year average represents ‘excess’ deaths due to COVID without taking into account other drivers of mortality.

The new study, co-authored by Karligash Glass, Professor of Financial Economics and a respected economic data scientist within Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics, Professor Anthony Glass (Professor of Managerial Economics, the University of Sheffield), Sam Williams (founder and Director of Economic Insight) and Alasdair Crookes (Consultant at Economic Insight) proposes an enhanced approach to crunching the COVID numbers.

The authors have used statistical techniques to better identify deaths due to COVID, applying the excess death framework more robustly and controlling for other factors that affect mortality. The key findings are as follows:

• Actual deaths due to COVID are some 54% or 63% lower than implied by the standard excess deaths measure, and reported excess deaths likely include a significant number of non-COVID deaths.
• While it is well known that COVID deaths are concentrated in the elderly, the study finds them to be particularly acute in the very elderly (75-84 and 85+ years old).
• Over the lockdown period as a whole Government policy has increased mortality rather than reduced it.

Dutch Government Rejects Mandatory Masking: ‘No Proven Effectiveness’

The government of The Netherlands announced today that public that there will be no legal requirement on people to wear masks in public spaces as a measure to slow the spread of COVID - 19 coronavirus. The announcement from the nation's capital stated that the effectiveness of mandatory masking of citizens remains unproven.

The Dutch Minister for Medical Care Tamara van Ark said the decision had been made after a review of evidence for and against masking by the country’s National Institute for Health (RIVM).

The official advice for preventing spread of the virus from person to person is for better adherence to social distancing rules. After confirmed coronavirus cases spiked over the past seven days, Reuters reports Van Ark told at a press conference in The Hague “Because from a medical perspective there is no proven effectiveness of masks, the Cabinet has decided that there will be no national obligation for wearing non-medical masks.”

RIVM chief Jaap van Dissel conceded that masks are known to help slow the spread of disease in hospital situations where especially vulnerable people are involved or in crowd situations such as on public transport, but remained unconvinced they will do anything to counter coronavirus outbreaks in the Netherlands.

He argued wearing masks incorrectly, together with worse adherence to social distancing rules that the false confidence masks give to wearers, could increase the risk of transmitting the disease.

The decision followed a meeting of health and government officials after new coronavirus cases in the country rose to 1,329 in the past week, an increase of more than a third. The case level has since flattened out.

As Breitbart Europe has reported, the Dutch response to the pandemic has been differen to most of Europe. Shops and businesses have remained open and families walk and cycle together to picnics or beisure outings in the sunny summer weather the Netherlands is enjoying. The government describes its actions as an “intelligent lockdown” to meet the coronavirus threat. Sports events, theatres and music venues and other activities which put people in close proximity have been closed but businesses have remained open.

In contrast to most other European countries where people were ordered to remain housebound for months at a time, the Dutch authorities merely advised people to stay home if possible and to keep 1.5 metres (five feet) of social distance.

The Dutch position — very similar to Sweden’s, which has been attacked by control freakery fans — also reflects a wider philosophical split in both Europe and the world on how to balance the need to control the disease against the catastrophic economic and broader societal damage caused by harsh lockdowns.

While critic's of Sweden's limited lockdown and decision to keep the economy running have gleefully pointed to the fact that statistics for deaths and infections in Sweden have been similar to elsewhere in Europe they omit to mention that the vast majority of Swedish cases have occurred in migrant dominated suburbs where people live in crowded conditions and where advice on social distancing and minimising contact has largely been ignored.

How interesting it is that as it becomes crystal clear the riots and civil unrest that have swept the world in the past few week are much more sinister than spontaneous protests at the brutal murder of a black man by a white cop in Minneapolis USA, and that the alleged organisers Black Lives Matter (BLM) are not campaigners for social justice but part of a highly organised and well funded political campaign which claims, among its manifesto aims, to be dedicated to the ideas of destroying capitalism, disbanding police forces and getting up Marxist dicatorships in place of democratic governments. 

 One would expect establishment political figures to shun such a movement.

It is strange then that former Prime Minister May and former US President Bill Clinton should present very highly paid speeches at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island in March 2020. 

Both spoke against racism and praised social justice campaigners with links to Hungarian - American Marxist billionaire George Soros, a well known meddler in the political affairs of sovereign states, who has funded several 'colour revolutions' which have resulted in regimes that offended the billionaire's political sensibilities being undemocratically removed from office only to be replaced by far worse tyrants.

Theresa May is reported to receive approx $150,000 plus expenses per speech, and Clinton at least $250,000 plus expenses. Both speeches were free to attendees, though Clinton's was postponed due to C-19. It seems there is some kind of cash conduit through left wing universities to convey money from the slush funds of billionaires who seek political influence to the pockets of former leaders who are willing to whore their names to any corrupt organisation willing to pay big money.

This is extremely evocative of Peter Schweizer's well known book ''Clinton Cash'' which strongly suggested that the Clinton's are guilty of corruption.............

So what are the possibilities about the Brown University speeches ?

It's possible there might be a quid pro quo system running here to reward politicians for past services rendered or the facilitation of  business deals which require keeping out of the news.

Certainly I think it's extraordinary that Theresa May should have this very highly paid public speaking link to Bill Clinton at the same venue, and scheduled so close together.

David Cameron's recent directorship goes straight to the High Table of multi billionaire globalism, which might give a clue about the financial interests of UK Prime Ministers....

It looks possible then that Theresa May's hugely well paid series of eight speeches for which she receives approx $150,000 plus expenses for each speech might be connected to Bill Gates, George Soros or Open Society, just like David Cameron is apparently linked ? Why are the police not investigating this instead of taking the knee in front of Black Lives Matter thugs and looters?

The June 25 text declares that beyond health concerns the COVID-19 pandemic is “a political crisis that threatens the future of liberal democracy.”

“The COVID-19 crisis is an alarming wake-up call, an urgent warning that the freedoms we cherish are at risk and that we must not take them for granted,” the document asserts.

Good to hear UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab talking some sense about this outbreak of disgusting grovelling to the Black Lives Matter thugs that seems to be turning into a pandemic. Mr. Raab was quite right to say the semi – literate, communist clowns is the USA who started “bending the knee” during the National Anthem ahead of sports events were just too stupid to understand that far from symbolising a rejection of servitude, is actually a medieval tradition that signifies acceptance is servitude and inferiority.

Medieval peasants had to go down on one knee when the local robber baron was passing to affirm their acceptance of his authority. To remain standing was to challenge him and he, being a trained warrior, adept with sword, battleaxe, halberd or morning star (a spiked metal ball attached by thick chain to a strong wooden handle, ideal for smashing skulls,) would quckly dispatch them to a well deserved eternal reat just to remind witnesses who was boss, because as Don Corleone might have said, “Let one disrespect you and they’ll all think its OK to disrespect you.”

Since the murder of career criminal and small time dickhead George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25, protests have taken place around the world calling for an end to racism. Interestingly these sponaneous demonstrations of outrage have been very well organised, which suggests they were not all that spontaneous and Mr. Floyd’s death, while completely unjustified, served as the starting bell for a well planned colour revolution.

Black Lives Matter protesters in the US have been calling for the end of police brutality towards black people in their country but their cries have been drowned out by the shreiking irony of the rioters going on an orgy of vandalism , arson and looting even as their ever faithful supporters in Hollywood were calling for an end to violence.

But while there is at least some justification for protests in the USA where relations between police and black communities have never been good, WTF are the protests in Britain all about. OK, they are protesting about Britain’s role in the Atlantic slave trade, which ended over two hundred years ago, as CONSERVATIVE and WHIG politicians in England led the world in abolishing slavery. So reall knocking down a few statues of long dead people with alleged links to the slave trade is just vacuous gesture politics. But at least the gesture is sort of apporopriate to the cause, unkile bending the knee (sic.) One of the satues they want removed, depicts a man whose link to the slave trade was through the fact that he was one of the leaders in the campaign to abolish it.

But what do Black Lives Matter protesters in the UK want beyond leave to vandalise statues?
“What we want is equality, what we want is justice and what we want is to have the same opportunities as everybody around, having our curriculum not so white-washed would make a massive change,” says protester Katrina Okuyiga , talking to a TV news reporter. Okuyiga admitted she had attended some of the UK Black Lives Matter demonstrations.

“Part of the reason we went to the protests was to highlight that people experience police brutality and police violence every single day. Our call is do divest from policing,” says Temi Mwale, a racial justice campaigner and founder of The 4Front Project. Police brutality and violence every day? In Britain? Methinks Temi doth protest to much, he or she needs to spend some time in African before talking about police brutality and violence. It’s difficult to think of a single African nation where anybody randomly stopped by a police officer who refuses to hand over the expected bribe is unlikely to ever again be seen alive by their family and friends.

But Temi was not finished showing how stupid Black Lives Matter supporters are. Explaining why blacks in britain experience police brutality and violence every day he / she added a lovely non sequitur: “The reason for that is because it’s really important that we actually invest in services, invest within communities, invest in mental healthcare, invest in opportunities, the things that are actually proven to increase people’s safety.”

Yeah, right.

Black Lives Matter activist Gary McFarlane opined that there are some “easy wins” in his eyes for the Government to make, such as: “A full public inquiry into the disproportionate number of black and minority ethnic (BAME)persons that have died in the Covid pandemic to date. A ban on tasers would cost the Government nothing. That’s been rolled out to all police forces in the country. That should be unrolled.”

So COVID – 19 is racist now. If Mr. McFarlane had as many brain cells as he has testicles he might understand that the reasons black and minority ethnic people have been badly hit is drug abuse (which wrecks the immune system,) bad diet (white diabetics have been even more badly affected that BAME communities.

“After the easy wins, we have the harder things to do perhaps…The uprooting of institutional racism in the NHS…in the education service, the civil service and…employment more generally.”
Really these people have no idea what they want, they have simply been manipulated by the dark forces of globalism into believing they are victims of injustice. Similarly the Black Lives Matter rent a mob across the pond start rioting and looting whenever the killing of a black person by a white makes the news, but demonstrate that not all black lives matter equally by clamming up whenever the huge number of blacks killed by other blacks is mentioned.

As for the British lot, it appears to be the usual universitiy brainwashed retards who have decided to be offended on behalf of working class people of minority status who actually understand they are lucky to be in Britain rather than stuck in some African shithole ruled by an amateur tyrant who like to kill his own people simply because he can or caught up in some middle eastern war zone where simply being a non Muslim can get you killed but being the wrong sort of Muslim is certain to.

Black Lives Matter thugs protesting in Newcastle were met by a large crowd of counter protesters, that gathered to “protect” local historical monuments. The tensions escalated into scuffles between rival groups.

Large groups of counter protesters emerged in central Newcastle on Saturday, gathering around Grey's statue and a nearby war memorial at the Old Eldon Square. Veterans and bikers protecting the war memorial in Newcastle, claimed they were also protecting a St George and the Dragon statue just down the street. Strangely the leftie mobs, mostly students and posh kids from the affluent suburbs gave those locations a wide berth and focused their hate on softer targets. Again typical of the left.

In Britain as well as the U.S.A. and other Western nations protests purportedly organised by anti racist groups to highlight police brutst blacks have become orgies of violence and hate as all the tpical tactics of the far left have shown who is really behind this outbreak of civil disorder. The violence started after the killing of George Floyd, a career criminal, drug dealer and general arsehole in Minneapolis in late May. Floyd was no angel to be sure, but the manner of his death and the fact that he was apparently committing no offence at the time certainly gave grounds for outrage. However, there is no justification for 'protests; involving looting and destruction of property to spread throughout the USA or for far left neo - fascists throughout Europe and ion Asia and South America to join in, other than that stupid, ignorant, sociopathic leftie thugs can never resist an opportunity to cause trouble.

It must be well known to our readers that the collective opinion of contributors to this blog on "scientists" and "experts" is that they are all wankers. This does not include practicioners of the sciences who have the self awareness to describe themselves as chemists, biologists, physicists, medical doctors or some other recognised discipline, in which case we acknowledge their expertise in a specific feild of human endeavour. It's the ubiquitous but non specific "scientists" or "experts" that pisses us of as if these vague generalisations confer infallibility on people who are often notyhing more than self aggrandizing oportunists who talk bollocks knowing it will be reported by mainstream media as if it is a divine revelation.

In perhaps the silliest example yet of the fallibility of these clowns, an open letter signed by hundreds of self-styled health ‘experts’ proposes the totally insane theory that “protests against systemic racism” are not only Covid-19 safe but “vital to the national public health” (apart from the health of people on either side who get injured or killed of course,) - while participation in protests against lockdowns carries a high risk, with infection and a slow, painful death almost guaranteed.

Calling “white supremacy” a “lethal public health issue that predates and contributes to Covid-19,” the letter - signed by upwards of 1,200 self-declared public health experts before it was closed to signatures on Tuesday, supposedly because “alt-right messages” had been added - trumpets the necessity of continuing the protests that began after a police officer killed George Floyd by kneeling with a knee planted on his neck while Mr. Floyd was taking part in an orderly and legal demonstration against the lockdowns in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which are bankrupting many small businesses in the USA and driving many poor families to destitution.
