Europe's War On Free Speech And Democracy Is Escalating Into An Attack On Democracy

 

Having started down parallel paths of mass migration for their own  political reasons, Britain, Germany, France and Spain are now converging on a strategy for its management: cover up the consequences and shut down the spaces where the problems caused by Open Borders policies and the cosequent problems of crime and street violence which go with it, that are caused by uncontrolled mass immigration might be discussed.

Last week, the leaders of all three countries took aim at Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), ostensibly to protect children from encountering inappropriate material on social media. Spain's far - left prime minister Pedro Sánchez – fresh from approving a plan to grant citizenship to  half a million unvetted illegal migrants to “fight” the “far Right” – announced plans for a social media ban for under-16s. That was the headline measure.

 It is not 3 European nations, it is the whole of Europe under the EU, as well as Canada, Australia that have done this. It was also America, until Trump sealed southern border, but illegal immigrants still flood through northern border. This is a global plan to destabilise the West. So is the war on farmers, helped along by the war on industry and economies by the insanity of net zero based on the climate hoax. Censorship was always part of the plan, hence all the advanced digital infrastructure already in place from companies like Palantir (shaping up to be the next career - threatening scandal for Starmer & Co.), Google, Apple etc. While left wing and extreme left wing ideas have helped this war along, clearly seen in Starmer's approach, we can also see in Britain that the Conservatives laid all of this in place. ie, the uniparty is a product of following these same edicts, the ideology of the UN, the WEF, the WHO, the Trilateral Commission, the EU commission, are woven into State goals and legislation. This is why if we don't vote Reform we are lost. Reform is way more than politics, it is a chance of revolution to win the war against this movement to destroy the nation state/

In the UK, where free speech is already on life support,  the UK Technology Secretary, has said the Government will give its “full backing” should the British communications watchdog decide to block access to the X in the UK and accused those opposing the measures of allying with “those who think the creation and publication of sexually manipulated images of women and children is acceptable”.

There is a difference, however, between accepting that a problem should be addressed and accepting the Government’s proposed solution. The capability in question – Grok editing pictures of real people into revealing clothing – wouldn’t have been available in the first place had Ofcom been doing their job.

Starmer and other authoritarian Leftist governments are working in tandem to introduce censorship and shut down free speech and thought that is not compatible with their Worldview Groupthink. This is at one with postponing local elections courtesy of an alleged 'reorganisation to cut bureaucracy' by enlarging constituencies that is nothing of the sort but is actually a con to gerrymander boundaries in favour of Labour candidates.

Under this reorganisation, which many commentators see as an attack on democracy, power will be concentrated in urban centres as these have an overwhelming Left electorate outweighing the rural vote.

Areas covered by local councils that are made defunct, will be forgotten and have totally unsuitable policies forced upon them.

They will be taxed to pay for the urban centre but receive nothing back as can be seen by the policy of taking money and resources from hardworking taxpayers to give to shirkers, wasters, illegal aliens and others who shouldn't be in the country that cluster in inner city ghettos.

Similarly, Starmer views pubs, workingmen's clubs and the like as dangerous meeting places for people to hold, discuss and propagate ideas and opinions contrary to 'Starmerthink'. Being unable to shut them by Diktat, and having been told in no uncertain ters that his lunatic plan to police conversations in suh establishments for 'inappropriate content,' he attacks them by taxing & regulating them out of existence

The ban on social media access may start with under 16s but will widen until only Starmer approved apparatchiks have internet access because he will not accept freedom in any form for the people he despises - that's  anyone who questions his 'human rights' obessed worldview.

Remind you of the late 1920s, early 1930s at all.

Social media and the Web in general have provided a growing series of forums where the people can express their views on a whole range of issues that politicians would rather were not discussed. In an era where the press and broadcast media are increasingly regulated and constrained in various ways, the democracy of the future will rely increasingly on what are currently regarded as “alternative media”.

Of course politicians hate this and will do everything they can to stop it. In the 19th century the Austro-Hungarian empire tried to prevent he spread of the railways since that was seen as a threat to the power of the state. It failed in that and present day governments will fail in their attempts to prevent themselves being held to account by alternative media.

Train Horror As Knife Rampage Leaves 10 in Hospital – Not Terror Attack Authorities Claim.

 Thirty police officers and numerous ambulances rushed to the London North Eastern Railway (LNER) Doncaster to London King’s Cross service after it made an emergency stop in the Cambridgeshire town of Huntingdon as two men of Caribbean descent rampaged through the inter - city train randomly attacking passengers. The attack is believed to have begun shortly after the train left Peterborough. 

In this latest outrage the two assailants, armed with machetes terrorised fellow travellers. Passengers are reported to have hid in toilets as one suspect carried a “big knife”, witnesses said, while others claimed they were trampled on as distressed passengers attempted to flee the chaos.

Armed police descended on the platform and “tasered a man waving a large knife”, bystanders also claimed. 

Videos also emerged on social media showing police cars racing to the scene as armed officers raced to the platform at around 7.42pm on Saturday.

The motive for the attack is not known but there may be a religious element involved as several passengers involved in the attack reported one of the assailents kept saying, "The devil is not going to win." In the most blatant attempt yet to gaslight the public about this type of atrocity which is happening more and more often,the authorities claimed the attack was not terror related.

Britain is at boiling point as once again and civil conflict it closer as the authorities try to cover up the obvious racial and religious elements of this crime, in this case we have witnessed the authorities trying to deflect attention from the elephant in the room by spreading misinformation: they told us that the suspects were "British nationals," that the attack was not though to be terror related and that there was no racial or religious element. 

A month ago we were hearing and seeing the same narrative in the aftermath of another knife weilding madman's attack on a Synagogue in Manchester. The reaction to this latest incident is so reminiscent of the government's idiotic reaction last year to the killing of three young girls in Southport when an attempt to cover up the truth about the killer's background and motove triggered violent protests.  

In the past week alone in the past week alone, a refugee from Afghanistan has been charged with killing a dog-walker and stabbing two other people in Uxbridge, an asylum seeker from Somalia has been jailed for stabbing a bank customer to death in Derby, an asylum seeker from Sudan has been convicted of murdering a female member of staff from his migrant hotel in Walsall by stabbing her with a screwdriver, an asylum seeker from Libya has been jailed for chasing Bournemouth hotel staff with a knife because he didn’t like the free food they’d given him, an asylum seeker from Afghanistan has been found guilty of raping a teenage girl in Elgin, and an asylum seeker from Ethiopia who’d been convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Essex was first accidentally released by prison staff, and then, upon recapture, was gien  £500 by the Home Office in a desperate effort to dissuade him from trying to challenge his deportation. And still they try to tell us talk og an immigration crisis are just a far - right conspiracy theory.

I don't really care how they label the train stabbings - whether it's terror-related, gang-related, or linked to mental health issues. It doesn't make a difference to the bigger picture, and it doesn't change the underlying reality we face. 

 

Calling someone a British national doesn't inspire confidence either; we have British nationals who can't even speak English, let alone embody the values of this country. Citizenship has become a technicality rather than a symbol of belonging or shared purpose.

 

The truth is undeniable: whether it's terrorism, organised crime, or the result of untreated mental health crises, we are living in a country far less safe than it was 15 years ago and seemingly drifting towards civil conflict. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), knife crime in England and Wales rose by 9% in 2022 compared to the previous year, with over 50,000 recorded offences. 

 

Despite having more laws on the books, we have fewer police officers on the streets to enforce them. The number of police officers per 100,000 people has dropped from 262 in 2010 to 228 in 2023. Our growing population, which now exceeds 67 million, is stretching already limited resources, leaving communities vulnerable and under-protected.

 

Public services are overwhelmed, with NHS waiting lists reaching a record high of over 7.6 million people in mid-2023, and the cracks in the system are widening with every passing year.

 

Our media, which should serve as a watchdog for truth and accountability, is blatantly dishonest. Sensationalism and bias have replaced objective reporting, and the public is left misinformed or manipulated. A study by the Reuters Institute found that only 34% of Britons trust the news they consume, one of the lowest levels in Europe.

 

Meanwhile, our government operates with an increasingly tyrannical approach, prioritising control and optics over meaningful solutions. The opposition fares no better, merely echoing what people want to hear without offering genuine alternatives. They engage in revisionist rhetoric, conveniently forgetting their own failures when they held power.

 

Our capital city, once a symbol of culture and opportunity, is now plagued by violent crime and a steady decline in tourism. London saw a 16% increase in homicides in 2022 compared to the previous year, and reports of thefts and muggings have surged by 25%. The streets that once bustled with visitors from around the globe now carry an air of unease.

 

Economically, we've been a basket case ever since the 2009 financial crash. The so-called recovery was a façade; bailing out bankers and handing out bonuses to the very people responsible for the crisis wasn't real economic repair work. It was a band-aid on a gaping wound, leaving the average citizen to bear the brunt of austerity and stagnant wages.

 

Real wages in the UK have fallen by 3% in the last two years alone, marking the steepest decline in decades.

 

Family life, the cornerstone of any strong society, has been fractured since the lockdowns. The isolation, stress, and disruption caused during that period created divisions that have only deepened over time. A survey by Mind revealed that 60% of adults in the UK reported a decline in their mental health during the pandemic, and the effects are still being felt today.

 

Relationships are strained, mental health issues are on the rise, and the sense of community that once defined neighbourhoods has eroded. These issues are compounded by the failings of self-serving politicians who prioritise their careers over the well-being of their constituents.

If we are to reclaim what we've lost, we must confront these issues with honesty and a collective determination to rebuild - not just patch up - a broken system.

 

Dairy Giant's Net Zero Plan To Suppress Cow Farts By Medicating Milk Producing Cattle Backfires

European dairy foods giant Arla is facing a backlash after announcing on X that it is to launch an experimpent in reducing CO2 emissions from cow farts by giving cows on farms involved in the trial a synthetic additive to their feed in an attempt to advance  .the push for 'net zero'.

Arla brands including Lurpak butter and Cravendale milk, said it was working with supermarket firms Morrisons, Tesco and Aldi to trial giving cows the additive Bovaer. Thirty of Arla’s 9,000 exclusively contracted farmers will test how the additives can be introduced into normal feeding routines, with the aim of then rolling Bovaer out more broadly.

It is gratifying to contributors of this blog, but certainly a shock to Arla that a seemingly innocuous tweet announcing the project, earlier this week would result in quite so much of a backlash from the public.

The post announced that some of the Danish-Swedish company’s British farmers were teaming up with the food retailers to trial a new feed additive that could significantly reduce methane emissions from dairy cows.

However, the announcement sparked a backlash on social media, with many consumers raising concerns about the use of additives in their groceries. Some went as far as to say they would no longer shop at supermarkets involved in the trial, while others urged the grocers to label any products which may have come from the farms using the additive. Cue social media uproar and the hashtag #BoycottArla going viral.

Bovaer, which is claimed to methane emissions from cows by 27 per cent on average, has been authorised for use in a number of countries, including BRICS member Brazil and neo - fascist dictatorships Australia and Canada. It was given the regulatory clearance for use in the UK last April.

Nevertheless, many social-media posters are incensed that the synthetic feed additive is apparently linked to a similar project backed by the billionaire psychopath, self - appointed fake meat Czar and wannabe Galactic Emperor Bill (Palpatine) Gates – who has invested $$$ millions into technology aimed at reducing methane emissions from cows, has never encountered a sociopathic idea he didn't like and is the madman that launched a thousand conspiracy theories (most of which later truned out to be true.)

The Microsoft co-founder has frequently spoken out over the environmental impact of meat production and called for people to switch to consuming synthetic beef, arguing plant-based alternatives are “the future”. University droput Gates is unqualified to comment on such topics, having no qualifications in medicine or science (he was studying law when he quit university,) and he never worked in Information Technology either, having been given a contract to deliver an operating systemfor the new IBM PC in highly dubious circumstances before abandoning his studies to found Microsoft.

In January 2023, Gates said there were two paths to solving the emissions created by cows, who “burp and fart methane to an extreme degree.”

“You can either fix the cows to stop them doing that or you can make beef without the cow. Both of those will be pursued to see which one can lead to the best product in terms of taste, health and cost,” he told the Lowy Institute, a think tank based in Sydney. His comments came the same month as Breakthrough Energy Ventures, which Mr Gates founded in 2015, plunged $12 million of investment into Rumin8, an Australian start-up attempting to reduce emissions from cow burps by feeding them a dietary supplement synthetically replicated from seaweed.

Gates' lab grown meat startup has already failed when people who tried his lab - grown steaks and burgers described them as foul tasing, disgusting slime. 

He is also involved in efforts to market protein rich food products made from insects. We hear that is not going well either.

Arla defended Bovaer stting the experimental product had been found to reduce methane emissions from cows by around 27pc.Supermatket chains Morrisons, Tesco and Aldi, the bosses of which obviously put virtue signalling ahead of customer welfare said it was a “great way of testing out where we can drive change at scale to bring down emissions”.

 The subversive, intellectually-infeasible lie that cows are responsible for a significant portion of climate change is one of the, most malevolent lies in history, used to make u look away from where the pollution and shenanigans  really occurring! The fact that Gates is again involved with efforts to re-engineer complex systems of biology mean that this is a monumental scam that will only “work” in cooperation with some kind of scaremongerin marketing campaign! (Natural food causes cancer is our bet.)

Independent scientists, sceptical of all claims made by the net zero nutters lobby point out that dairy pasture land traps so much CO2 in the soil that any methane emissions are negligible. When that biomass depletes the land turns to dust. US government policy proved that by wiping out millions of Bison then 50 years later suffering the 1930s Mid West Dust Bowl disaster. The only reason to use chemicals in the food of dairy cattle is to make possible the keeping of cows in sheds as milk factories. Shame on Big Agriculture and the hyper processed food industry. What could possibly go wrong with introducing another synthetic additive into animal feed and possibly disrupting with cows' digestive systems?

And you'll have to forgive us if I'm for being unimpressed with the governments' approval of it. Call us conspiracy theorists if you like, but how long it will be before the cows start keeling over from undefined, mysterious, digestive system related illnesses that leave vets baffled?

On the plus side, when the cows have died/been killed off, all that wasteful farmland can be used for lots more lovely solar farms. Then we can all live on Bill Gates' mashed insects and lab grown meat.

Is The Internet Killing Democracy?

 What is happening to democracy in Europe? While we in England laugh at the contortions of the Scottish and Irish governments as they attempt to justify to an already alienated voter base their authoritarian policies, notably the 'hate speech' or 'spreading misinformation' laws that are so loosely drafted anyone in either of those countries could find him or herself in prison for saying anything about anything, we ourselves are watching a long established political party tear itself apart as it tries to appease noisy but numerically insignificant minorities by yielding to their 'woke demands while simultaneously attempting to convince ordinary voters that accepting unlimited numbers of unskilled, uneducated, unemployable illegal immigrants, tailoring economic and energy policies to the loonytoons ambitions of far - left ideologues and a person can change sex if they click their heels three times and wish.

Germany, until recently the economic powerhouse of the European Union is now 'The Sick Man Of Europe', overwhelmed with unskilled, uneducated, unemployable illegal immigrants, its manufacturing industry in a state of collapse and its political establishment in disarray to the extent that the ruling coalition of the left, loony left and centre right parties is seriously considering banning the most popular opposition party. Spain has a far left government led by the socialist party, which even in coalition with other left wing parties cannot command a majority in the national assembly and therefore cannot govern effectively.

Having held a general election last November in which Geert Wilders' Freedom Party became the largest bloc in the assembly and parties of the right gained a comfortable majority, the country still does not have a government as EU officials and members of the outgoing government do all they can to prevent a right of centre coalition forming.

In the political Grand Guignol of French politics and the Commedia del Arte of the Italian version chaos rules, in other words business as usual while in Poland, last of the large population European Union member states Europhile leader Donald Tusk is busy having political opponents arrested and jailed and criminalising criticism of himself and his government.

In Sweden a ruling coalition, led by the Moderates party is trying to push through a Left-leaning reform that some significant parts of the Left do not want, and over the stringent objections of many politicians in parties that are part of the government coalition, and also in blatant contempt of the majority opinion of Swedish voters. Confusion thus abounds: why would the Moderates spend all this energy on an issue that only promises to make their own voters feel dismayed?

Sweden today is governed by the Right, not the Left, and it is the centre - right Moderate party that is implicated in pushing this law through. The prime minister of Sweden — Ulf Kristersson — is thus leading the effort to lower the age at which one can change one’s legal gender from 18 to 16, even as a massive majority of his own voting base are against this change. To further inflame things, his parliamentary group is also opposed to it, although it is being whipped to vote in favour. And to top it all off, some of the strongest objections to the law are coming from the Left, where there are deep concerns about its promises to make it easier to access irreversible surgery.

Viewed in perspective it becomes obvious that this sort of political clown show fits into a wider, pan-European pattern. The ruling elites are totally out of touch, not just with the voters, but out of touch with reality, they are living in a different dimension. As a politician, it’s easy to think that your job is first and foremost to be seen doing something, almost regardless of whatever that “something” ends up being, but the general public are no so easily fooled.

 It really feels like the whole show is now grinding to a halt or is just about to collapse in a mess of its own contradictions.

I’m sure the politicians feel just as moribund as we do and can barely muster enough energy to lie to us all again.

Meanwhile a bunch of unelected old farts known as the ECHR (European Convention on Human Rights,) who have form for judicial meddling in political matters, has told some old biddies in Switzerland that they can hold their government responsible for ‘not doing enough to combat climate change’ and sue for compensation (‘enough’ being just how much exactly?).

And if you think things are bad in Europe, take a good long look at America.

But what has got us into this mess? What is killing democracy in so many ways throughout the developed world? The Elephant in the room is The Internet and more specifically Social Media, along with the ability to surveil and censor us that these technologies give officials who have control freak tendencies.

It was commonly believed in the early days, when the cult of the amateur ruled in cyberspace, that universal access to the net might enhance democracy by giving ordinary punters access to information they would not normally see, but instead it appears to have become a source of contagion; with political ideas framed to support certain agendas being spread as if factual information (misinformation) that have weakened our defences to fake news and manipulation of the truth, with the consequences now becoming more clear.

However were we to focus on one cause it would be the growth of the regulatory / legal complex: the endless increase in the number of rules, regulators, lawyers and compliance officers supported by the entrenchment of ever more rights and ever more intrusive courts that the new media with its promise of free access to information and the freedom to publish our own thoughts, opinions and ideas has spawned. 

All this has raised process above substance and increased the number of people who can prevent or slow any action. It has been argued that the great achievement of the French Revolution was that it enabled the destruction of the paralysing mishmash of privileges and laws that made France ungovernable and decisive reform impossible. It was replaced by the simplicity of the Code Napoleon and the decisiveness of his government.

So it is possible. Let us hope we can work out how to dismantle the administrative state without needing the accompaniment of such liberal use of the guillotine

Lockdowns, Power and the Creepy, Conspiratorial, Covidian Globalists

 

As revelations of dishonesty, manipulation and all sorts of jiggery pokery by politicians and civil servants to scare the public into complying with lockdowns, mask mandates and social distancing during the Project Fear campaign that powered the hoax pandemic have unfolded day by day in The Telegraph it seems the world (or that portion of it that posts article and comments on alt_news websites has split into two camps.

There are those denying the notion that the whole exercise was a power grab by a shady cabal of globalists intent on establishing a world government and  saying that the lock-step implementation of lockdowns in all countries was an accident and a “fruit of shallow low-wattage government functionaries who have a planning horizon extending no more than two weeks," according to Eugyppius” 

Then there is the camp (typified by Igor Chudov HERE) that maintains  the events of 2020 were planned and implemented in advance by Creepy, Conspiratorial, Covidian Globalists, who implemented their plans via corrupt media that they control financially, by social media giants suppressing discussions, dissent and open dialogue  and hijacked science and pandemic modeling to further their plans. They also effectively controlled the shallow, low - wattage government functionaries.”  

 The people who would seek to alter our world, dominate it and rebuild it in the image of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World or the Chinese Communist Party's 'Peoples Republic' and who woulf take away our freedoms while quietly killing us off, are dull. They are boring and there is something inherently evil about dull and boring because it is, in effect, anti-life.  As G K Chesterton wrote of our former leaders in his poem The Secret People:

They have given us into the hand of new unhappy lords,
Lords without anger or honour, who dare not carry their swords.
They fight by shuffling papers; they have bright dead alien eyes;
They look at our labour and laughter as a tired man looks at flies.

Our New Unhappy Lords may do a good job at acting, acting like real people but  if Gates, Schwab, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Sunak, Trudeau, Macron, Buffett, Zelensky, Biden, Rothschild (take your pick), or any of the others too numerous to mention were to come into the house for a drink and a convivial chat, conversation would be incredibly stilted and lifeless because these people wouldn’t be able to relate like real humans.

 Do they have compassion and feelings? Well, they almost all have children but that doesn’t really mean anything. Didn’t I read that Schwab’s children are all involved in Daddy’s Naughty Plans?

These people are dull and unimaginative and have no ability to envision a world where technology, which after all is useful, is used for purposes that enhance human life and ALL other life lest we forget that this planet is not ours for the taking no matter what either the Bible or Karl Marx says. Instead they imagine a world of unimaginable wealth and privilege for the few and dehumanizing, soul destroying servitude for the many, a world where free human spirits are controlled by machines with Artificial Intelligence. 

Arrogance and a lack of all the qualities that define us as human will scupper their plans eventually, I am certain. However we need to make sure for ourselves that WE don’t become reliant on the technology either. Be human, celebrate your humanity. If you read classic literature and listen to music from before, say, 2000 (the 1960s and 70 was my era,) there is an authenticity to the sounds and the messages, melodies had the power to evoke emotions, lyrics provoked thought, some books, the great ones, had the power to change out world view.

Listen to musival originality The Beatles ‘Sergeant Pepper’ album, or the songs on Carol King's 'Tapestry,' just two of the hundreds of great albums from the past that spring readily to mind, everybody of a certain age has their own favourites of course. These are virtuoso performances, music full of feeling and movement in the heart. They are full of humanity.

She had to agree the Judy Collins song had more meaning and a better melody. The song writers and music makers of the past were people for whom the music was the main preoccupation not image or fame or getting a few thousand more followers on Social Media. The same is true of film, books and even TV dramas, talk  shows, documentaries, comedies etc and you get a real sense of the thing that we seem to have lost – creativity, authenticity and the joy of creating. 

The devices we all carry and this obsession with celebrity have indeed made us dull beyond reckoning – selfies on Facebook and bright white shining teeth as if that is the apogee of our ambitions. Look at modern houses, modern cars, supermarkets, politics, megalomaniacs…all dull, dull, dull. All anti-life and the joy and pain and fullness of life. 

It may be nostalgic to think of such things and to even hope of a return to a simpler, more connected way of being but to me it is important to be aware of how we as a human race, especially in the so called advanced nations are being somehow changed and altered to become a bland, beige, conformist civilisation and not the one that created fabulous music, literature and art.

“Nobody is beyond that and they shouldn’t be so precious.”

A typically humourless and robotic spokesperson for Facebook said last night: "Anyone who wants to run an ad that's political has to be authorised. If The Spectator resubmit this ad from an authorised person Page admin the ad will be approved." Which is almost as incoherent as the average Joe Biden sentence. Or to put it another way Facebook are saying, "You little people, the riff raff, the rabble, the proles, and anyone Mr. Zuckerberg does not like are not allowed to say or write anything Mark Zuckerberg's minions think The Master might not approve of.

Once again we have proof that the billionaire psychopaths who run corporations that, with the help and complicity of governments and supra - national bureaucracies have come to dominate the internet, behave as if they are above national law, natural law and the law of common decency, and though unelected (and unelectable to anything,) are determined to use the influence their internet near - monopolies to force on the public political agendas that serve only a small, wealthy and influential elite.

It seems our world is moving towards an era of deference and credulousness, the kind of society we left behind over 200 years ago when to criticise te Church or The King might easily result in a painpul and humiliating death and woulf certainly do one's social standing and career prospects no good at all. In modern times we have enthusiatically made use of our freedoms and civil rights to ridicule and satirise our leaders and although the questioning of authority and those who try to control opinion and suppress dissent has been reduced to a cottage industry, the tradition still lives on in online environments though it is now hardly seen or heard in the pervading authoritarian babble of mainstream media heard.

Why has the centre of politics collapsed in this way? I have a little anecdote. In the 1960s when I was a student studying economics and sociology, we were discussing the inter-war period and the rise of Hitler and Nazism in our History class. One day the lecturer, with a wry smile on his face, said “Hitler was a Liberal”. The whole class, who mostly identified as “liberal” or even “socialist”, howled with laughter at what they thought must be a joke. When peace returned, the teacher explained the close correlation between Liberalism and movements of the Far Right which had attracted among others, rational, well-educated Germans.

In short, Fascism and Nazism were in some ways similar to the kind of “Liberal Extremism” we are now encountering on social media and in the 'woke' cluture that has taken over our universities; it is the conviction that there is only one 'right' way of thinking and to utter any though or idea that does not conform to this is an offence of some kind, (hate crime is the currently fashionable term for examples of for non compliance. The decline of the Western liberal democracies and the type of degenerate crisis-politics we are seeing now is another example of this phenomenon. 

It is way beyond time that action was taken to break up the social media giants and deny the billionaire psychopaths the pernicious influence whatever deals they have made with corrupt politicians may have bought them.

Will The Online Safety Bill Protect Free Speech Or Assist Censorship?

The UK Online Safety Bill is presented to parliament for its final reading next week. Secretary of State for Digital Culture Michelle Donelan announced this morning that the controversial “legal but harmful” clause has been removed and thus free speech has been protected.  Anti self-harm activists and groups opposinthe Gay BLTQ movement's push for paedophile equal rights and the sexualisation of children don’t like it one little bit, though free-speech enthusiasts should take no comfort from that. The Bill puts into legal jeopardy anything that creates “a material risk of significant harm to an appreciable number of adults in the United Kingdom”.

Significant harm? What constitutes “significant harm”? As with the previous 'legal but harmful' nonsence who gets to define what exactly is  harmful and what is not. Precedent tells us “harm” is very much in the heart of the beholder.

Say that a private citizen posts:

Biological sex trumps gender ID. Transwomen are transwomen – not actual women.

If a Gay BLTQ rights activist reports the post to Ofcom – or to the publishing platform, or to the court, in a private prosecution – saying,

This hateful speech has damaged the core of my identity. It has attempted to erase my very being. I feel not just disparaged but annihilated. Half of all trans children who are denied will attempt suicide. I am now in danger of killing myself.

How can that not be interpreted as “significant harm”? The question is – under this Bill, will Kathleen Stock (the university lecturer hounded from her job by woke activists) be able to question gender ideology on social media?

A critical reading of the Bill suggests she will not. Activists will claim harm. And even if Ofcom prevaricates, the owner of the platform will fear the threat being fined 10% of its worldwide income while its users are scared away by loony leftie hate mobs. It will censor the posts of private citizens and all posts like it “to prevent harm,”

Twitter’s Head of Site Integrity  (aka Virtue Signalling,) Yoel Roth, said Twitter is seeing “governments become more aggressive in how they try to use legal tactics to unmask the people using our service” and as a way to “silence people”. This is an unconscioius irony as Twitter traded on its reputation for silencing opinions that its far left founders did not approve of. (Tech Outlook). However the view that social media platforms are being treated unfairly unless they are allowed to influence democratic elections through censorship of non 'woke' contributors is shared by WhatsApp CEO, Will Cathcart, who this week said his company might cease operating in the UK if the Online Safety Bill reaches the statute book in its current form. (BBC).

Cathcart specifically  referring to a new, government-backed amendment to the bill requiring tech firms like WhatsApp to use “best endeavours” to deploy new technology in identifying and removing child sexual abuse and exploitation and grooming content if existing technology isn’t suitable for that purpose on their respective platforms. (Sky News).

Under the new amendment online regulators Ofcom will be able to demand that tech firms implement new technology to help find abuse - related material and stop its spread. (Guardian).

Mr Cathcart said that “what’s being proposed is that… we read everyone’s messages”, which suggests WhatsApp, having reclassified itself as a publisher rather than an open platform by censoring certain content, fears Ofcom may well ask online service providers to pursue ‘client-side scanning’, a controversial surveillance method which allows providers of end-to-end encrypted communication services to automatically scan private chats, messages, texts, images, videos and speech sent from that ‘client’s’ phone for suspicious content which could then automatically be reported to the police. (BBC News).

For Whats App's owners the fundamental problem with client-side scanning is that it undermines the company's’s unique selling point, namely, secure, end-to-end encryption. As a spokesman told the BBC’s Tech Tent podcast, “WhatsApp’s a global product. People use it… to talk across countries all the time. And so if we had to lower security for the world to accommodate a [regulatory] requirement in one country, as a business decision, that would be very foolish for us.” 

Would WhatsApp go dark in the UK if the amended Online Safety Bill is passed into law?,  CEO Cathcart said, “To date, the way we’ve worked is we’ve offered a global service and some countries choose to block it,” he replied. “I hope that never happens in a liberal democracy.”

The case for the Government’s amendment is of course that it will protect children. According to the National Crime Agency, there are between 550,000 and 850,000 people in the UK who pose a sexual risk to children, and it’s not difficult to understand why secure, end-to-end encryption might prove useful to those wishing to circulate depraved images online. That’s why Home Secretary Priti Patel has argued that “things like end-to-end encryption significantly reduce the ability for platforms to detect child sexual abuse”. (Telegraph). 

The fact is that the internet and its World Wide Web derivative is a technology that was designed for the publising and exchange of business and academic information. As a medium for social networking, a vehicle for electronic commerce or anything involving sensitive information or communications related to criminal activity it is not fit for purpose. To make it so simply requires all users to clearly identify themselves and thus become accountable for their online activity. If we want an uncensored, unregulated internet we  must learn to behave responsibly.
