Poland blocks German extradition request for suspected Nord Stream pipeline saboteur probe

 

A Polish court has today denied an application to extradite a Ukrainian suspect in the Nord Stream sabotage case to Germany, ordering his immediate release and ruling that the alleged actions can be seen as “rational and just” in the context of war.

To refresh your memory on this case, the Nordstream2 undesea gas piplne between Russia and Germany was blown up in 2022 by a sophisticated and carefully planned sabotage operation for which mainstream meadia and the NATO propaganda machine tried to blame Russia. This psyop did not succeed because the Nordstream pipelines were Russian assets and the gas flowing through them earned vast export revenues for the Russian economy.Questions were soon being asked and early in 2023 vereran investigative reporter Seymour Hersh exposed the sabotage as a NATO / Ukraine plot.

About the same time it was revealed that the USA had gained huge economic opportunities from the destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline and that the main economic damage had been suffered by Germany and other EU member states which now had to rely on expensive natural gas shipped from the US by tanker rather than cheap Russian gas flowing through the pipelines.

In January 2025 the government of Turkey announced that a Ukrainian suspected of being involved in blowing up Nord Stream had been detained. 

The two Nord Stream pipelines, built to carry Russian gas to a terminal on  Germany's  coast under the Baltic Sea, were damaged in a sabotage attack in September 2022. German prosecutors have attributed the explosions to a small group of Ukrainian nationals, including a diving instructor, Vladimir Zhuravlyov, who was detained by the Polish authorities last month under a European arrest warrant. A previous request from Berlin for his extradition was reportedly obstructed by the Polish government in 2024.

On Friday, Polish media reported the Warsaw District Court found Germany’s extradition request “unfounded,” citing a lack of evidence linking Zhuravlyov to the sabotage. Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine Poland has constantly campaigned for escalation of the war and acted to provoke Russia into attacking a NATO member, an act which would drag NATO including the USA into the war. 

“Blowing up critical infrastructure during a war – during a just, defensive war – is not sabotage but denotes a military action,” Judge Dariusz Lubowski said. “These actions were not illegal – on the contrary, they were justified, rational and just,” he added.

Lubowski also ruled that Germany lacks jurisdiction, as the explosions occurred in international waters. The decision may still be subject to appeal.

It is obviously time the Polish people sabotaged their war hungry government.

Reporters at several German, US, Danish and Norwegian media outlets have been busy throughout 2023 with the “most confusing spy thriller of our time” on the alleged Ukrainian sabotage commando operation from the sailing yacht “Andromeda” which resulted in the sabotage of the Nordstream pipeline. According to a Ukrainian ex-secret service agent, the newshounds followed a trail laid by America's Central; Intelligence Agency (CIA).

German news junkies certainly remember the reports about a suspected sabotage squad of Ukrainian commandos that traveled on the sailing yacht “Andromeda” in September 2022 to blow up the two gas pipelines on the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Reports about the search for those involved have almost developed into a genre of their own. Der Spiegel is b to haveelieved used almost 20 of its employees for a report .A

The disinformation campaign about the attack on Nord Stream was planned.
Dozens of journalists from at least seven countries were involved in “processing” the Ukrainian trail in the Nord Stream blast. The articles also appear to have been published in a coordinated manner by all the news organisations involved: Süddeutsche, Spiegel, NDR, WDR and the others - in portions in March, May, July, August and September. The campaign, which began with the articles in Die Zeit, Tagesschau and the New York Times on March 7, 2023, came to an abrupt end on November 8 with the Spiegel report about the alleged commander of the sabotage group. The leader (or fall guy,) was a secret service agent named Roman Chervinsky, who had already been in Ukrainian custody for several weeks at that moment for another offense.

After this report, there was suddenly calm about the “most confusing spy thriller of our time” – that’s how the reporters always described their “investigation”. Was it all just a big deception? Or are the investigators following leads deliberately laid by others -  a so-called 'false flag operation'?

If the investigators only follow the clues given to them by the most powerful secret service in the world, of course the only conclusion that can come out of it is the one the spy agency wants people to accept. Since a publication by investigative journalist Seymour Hersh on March 22, 2023 - a good two weeks after the first publications in the German and US media on March 7 - about a yacht loaded with explosives, it has been known what was actually going on with the Ukrainian one has a trace on it.

 Hersh recalled that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the United States in early March and had an 80-minute meeting with President Joe Biden, most of which was not even attended by their advisers. There was no official statement at the end of the conversation, but according to a source with access to secret diplomatic documents, it was about "exposing the issue of gas pipelines."

Hersh stated (RT DE reported) that after the meeting between the two statesmen, CIA employees were instructed to prepare a diversionary maneuver together with a German secret service. This consisted of providing the US and German press with an alternative version of the Nord Stream explosion. The journalist pointed out that Biden made a foolish decision about sabotage and was now forced to lie about it.

So as this blog reported at the time, all the available evidence points to the US Deep State having organised the sabotage operation which benefitted the USA economically and politically.

But the alternative version was not a “total fabrication of U.S. intelligence,” as Hersh wrote at the time. It was a long-prepared hidden card in the long, orchestrated CIA game with the world public. In the end it was definitely an invention, but the Ukrainian "sabotage group" that was supposed to imitate the attack was real and the leads that European journalists followed in their extensive research over many months have US specialists in deception operations were deliberately placed by operatives linked to government agencies.

Ukraine’s Long-Term Plan To Blow-Up The Kakhova Dam Exposed

 Russian President Vladimir Putin has addressed the Nova Kakhovka dam blast in public comments on Wednesday for the first time, charging that it was a "barbaric act" of the Ukrainian government and its military forces. 

Ukraine has in its turn blamed Russian forces for blowing up the huge dam which holds back 18 cubic kilometers of water, along with the hydroelectric power plant, and unleashing flooding across the war zone, and President Volodomyr Zelensky condemned “Russian terrorists”. Russian officials claimed the dam was damaged by Ukrainian military strikes.

A report from the Washington Post (WaPo) reveals that in late December 2022, information about a long-term Ukrainian  plan to blow up the Kakhova Dam, which had been exposed.

A day after Ukraine’s much-heralded counter-offensive appears to have failed, almost before it had even begun, a major dam in the Russian-occupied region of Kherson is suddenly bombed, prompting mass evacuations as floods spread across the region.

As we detailed earlier, both sides accuse each other of the attack that puts tens of thousands of homes at risk and might even threaten the safety of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.

However, as Raul Ilargi Meijer writes, twice last year (here and here), Ukrainian officials discussed Kiev’s plans to blow up the dam.

 This comes as a second surprise from WaPo in the same week as the organisation produced a surprise report pointing to Ukrainian guilt in sabotaging the Nord Stream pipelines after mainstream media in the west had spent almost a year screming "It wuz da Russians.".

The Ukrainian propagandists are claiming that the Russian blew up the dam. That is however unlikely.

On October 21 2022 Vasily Nebenzya, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, sent a letter to the UN Secretary General about the plans of the Kiev regime to destroy the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

In a report about last years Kherson counteroffensive the Washington Post reported of Ukrainian plans and attempts to blow up the dam:

[Maj. Gen. Andriy] Kovalchuk considered flooding the river. The Ukrainians, he said, even conducted a test strike with a HIMARS launcher on one of the floodgates at the Nova Kakhovka dam, making three holes in the metal to see if the Dnieper’s water could be raised enough to stymie Russian crossings but not flood nearby villages.

The test was a success, Kovalchuk said, but the step remained a last resort. He held off.

Destroying its own infrastructure is nothing new for Ukrainian servicemen. In April 2022 the New York Times already noted this:

What happened in Demydiv was not an outlier. Since the war’s early days, Ukraine has been swift and effective in wreaking havoc on its own territory, often by destroying infrastructure, as a way to foil a Russian army with superior numbers and weaponry.

Demydiv was flooded when troops opened a nearby dam and sent water surging into the countryside. Elsewhere in Ukraine, the military has, without hesitation, blown up bridges, bombed roads and disabled rail lines and airports. The goal has been to slow Russian advances, channel enemy troops into traps and force tank columns onto less favorable terrain.

Another possibility is that neither side actually blew a breach in the dam this week. A contributor in the Moon of Alabama comment thread on this story offers this suggestion:

The road and top of the dam was breached on around May 29th and Meleleuca, another person that I cant remember and myself commented on it here about it at the time. I had seen a video purporting to be taken by Ukro troops and the water was already coming over the breach.

What was strange was that no one in the blogosphere or Russian official channels seemed to have noticed it or at least commented on it this last week. To my mind any breach or cut in the road even ,would have been significantly newsworthy. Was it purposefully downgraded and goven low news value for some reason? Noone seems to know about how it has become so large a breach or about the explosion .

Seems to me the dam probably simply gave way. And it seems to me it is for the best from the Allied point of view for it removes a potential threat.
When the allies move to regain Kherson they will now have a dried up flood plain to cross with no potential danger of a dam breach.
Crossing a flood plain to a citadel on high ground not a pleasant task but they quit the citadel so they must have anticipated. Perhaps they have no intention of taking Kherson itself but simply acquiring it as part of the whole parcel when they conquer Kiev in some other way.
IF they can fight at all.

Seymour Hersh Nord Stream Bombshell Report Attacked By USA and Zelensky Fan Club

 Veteran  investigative journalist Seymour Hersh published a bombshell report on Wednesday (8 February,) in which he alleged that the United States was behind the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline system last year, citing a single unnamed source "with direct knowledge of the operational planning."This is not news to  most of us as people from a industrial, political, or economic backgrounds, applying the principle of 'cui bono' (who benefits,) quickly identified the USA as the prime suspected, probably aided and abetted by one of their NATO allies in the region.

According to Hersh's report published on his new Substack, the September, 2022 attack on the Russian - owned gas pipelines which carried around 30% of the gas Germany needed to keep the home fires burning and the wheels of industry turning was effected by the U.S. Navy "under the cover of a widely publicized mid-summer NATO exercise known as BALTOPS 22" and with assistance from the Norwegian navy and secret service.

Last June, with the authorization of President Joe Biden, U.S. Navy divers planted "remotely triggered explosives that, three months later, destroyed three of the four Nord Stream pipelines," Hersh reported.

White House security spokesman Adrienne Watson,quickly denied U.S. involvement, telling the Russian state-owned news agency TASS that Hersh's reporting was "false and complete fiction." The White House gave the same statement to Reuters and to Hersh himself, who over the course of his career has famously exposed U.S. forces' massacre of hundreds of Vietnamese civilians exposed the torture of detainees at the U.S-run Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.The reporter stood by his story however, and asserted that his source is totally reliable, hinting that there is more to be revealed about US involvement in European affairs.

It does not matter whether Hersh knows more than he is telling. In any story like this, whether deliberately leaked or actively researched, there will be a grain (actually a very, very large slice) of the truth. So here's how we Boggart Bloggers think things stand:

It seems everyone knows that the USA was behind the action, whether practically or only by instigation. Were it otherwise how could American gas suppliers have had a fleet of Liquid Natural Gas tankers ready to start shipping gas to Europe to replace the lost Russian imports. Most well informed people in Germany, including many business leaders have accepted this and it is likely the Russians or someone in Germany has evidence to prove it.

So as readers we need to think rationally to try to sort out which parts of Hersh's story are the red herrings. I think that it is reasonable to assume that 75% is true, but the issue is sorting out which 25% is not.

Our guess is that the US sources would be anxious to protect their anonymity, and if it was a US plane that triggered the explosion to protect U.S. interests by throwing Norway to the lions. They would also probably be keen to protect the UK, since if they shit on the Brits there are a lot of secrets regarding covert operations known to MI6 and any serious rift could lead to all sorts of embarrassing leaks. So Norway is sacrificed instead of the UK, and perhaps because it is felt that Russia is less likely to retaliate against Norway.

One serious issue for the USA, that nobody is discussing, is just how reliable is the UK these days. The huge social shifts that has seen Rishi Sunak elected as PM indicates that the Angloshpere connection is weakening. Yes Sunak is probably in the pocket of the USA as is Starmer, but what about the nation as a whole. Economically the UK is in a bad place and it would be expedient to dump on weak Norway, than risk further destabilisation in UK.

All of this might seem idiotically convoluted, but compared to the usual machinations of governments, diplomatic staff and state security agencies it is comparatively straightforward, and in the light of  the initial response of the USA and NATO members to the sabotage of the pipelines, which was you may remember, to accuse the Russians of sabotaging their own pipeline, an asset via which a highly significant slice of their export revenue was earned, it starts to look quite feasible.

Nord Stream and Kerch Bridge Attacks A Tremendous Opportunity For USA's Economy

 

Following the recent attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines, which effectively halted the flow of natural gas which German industry, commerce, agriculture and society relies on, and the terrorist attack on the Kerch Bridge, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken gloated that the attacks were a “tremendous opportunity” to weaken Moscow.. And now it has emerged that the United States CIA and UK's MI5 strate security agencies at the very least knew of the plan in advance.

 And shortly after news of the Nord Stream sabotage broke on mainstream media, gas supply companies in the USA were offering to supply Europe with shipments of Liquid Natural Gas carried by supertanker to be sold to European nations at vastly inflated prices.

The Nord Stream pipelines are operated by company that is majority owned by Russia’s state gas giant Gazprom. Authorities in Norway and Denmark have blocked that company from inspecting the damage done to its own pipelines. That is to say, NATO member states have prevented the Switzerland-based company Nord Stream AG from conducting an investigation into the attacks on its property.

Meanwhile, top officials in Washington have been positively giddy. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken enthusiastically celebrated the attacks on Nord Stream a “tremendous opportunity” in the economic war against Russia.

As for the Russians, they just shugged and set about finding other customers to buy their gas. The CPC pipeline out of the Caspian has been monitored from orbit a very long time. The Volga river complex out of the northern Caspian region ditto. In total this flow is 4% of global supply, and much of it is past Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad) northward towards Moscow for consumption and export.

Volgograd is less than 100 miles from the eastern border of Donbas and is the chokepoint for nearly 3% of global supply. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) from Russia's Caspian gas fields to the Black Sea travels through Russia to a Russian Black Sea port.

Kashagan is the notorious oil field in that region and its failures have been monitored from orbit and led to its nickname from the participating companies -- CashIsGone. A very difficult production locale for oil, but those obstacles have been overcome and it is now finally flowing. The lesser known field is Karachaganak, it is mostly gas condensate and GAZPROM is the major player. This dictates realities of the recent economic meetings that warranted Putin's presence.

It will probably come as a shock to political leaders in Washington D C, London and Euopean capitals and financial centres but wo.rld trade is not confined to North America and Europe. Turkmenistan (how many people know where that is, I have to admit I could not descripe its exact position,) is bubbling with gas. Kazahkstan has significant oil. That region in total, with bordering countries, has abundant and largely unexploited hydrocarbon reserves. 

Perhaps most amusing, ironic and scanitly reported in mainstream media aspect of this fiasco of failed sanctions, Iran has been running tankers south to north across the Caspian carrying their sanctioned oil to blend with Russia's heading north for export via The Black Sea. Turkey and Syria to Europe and America. All those sanctions imposed by successive US administrations in their efforts to control the world never really had a hope of working.

As for vast Ukraine gas totals, the Holy Bible of oil and gas is published each June by BP. It is called The World Statistical Report and is downloadable in Excel form. It's a big ducument and profiles production of oil and gas country by country, as well as consumption.

BP assigns Ukraine about 1 Trillion cubic meters of reserves. Most of that is offshore south. In the world of gas and oil, one sees numbers with the T word or B word for trillions and billions.There's a lot of gas in the world which is why the green loons and ecowankers stopped campaining on the basis that hydrocarbons are running out and started instead to demonise Carbon Dioxide, a trace atmospheric gas that is absolutely essential to the continuation of carbon based lifeforms, (which covers absolutely every living thing,) on our planet

Russia is estimated to have 37 trillion, and their territory total provides estimates of "undiscovered reserves" far beyond that 37 number. Qatar's fields offshore estimate at 25. Iran at 32. Saying Ukraine is the 2nd largest in Europe is noting a big fish in a tiny pond. Norway is #1 at 1.4 Trillion. Countries with more? Australia, Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Iraq, UAE, US (a 12 T gas dwarf) and Canada.

Ukraine has 1/37th of GAZPROM's total, with more to be found. The theory that control of gas fields  prompted Russia's invasion of Ukraine does not make any sense at all.

However this publication has consistently taken the view that the current kerfuffle in Ukraine was engineered by the USA and NATO just as the previous trouble in 2013 / 14 and the ethnic cleansing campaign waged on Russian speakers in eastern Ukraine were. And as we reported last month and earlier this month when we look at the Nord Stream sabotage and the Kerch Bridge terrorist attack the evidence stacks up against the US Deep State with help from their FUKUS axis and NATO partners, they have the means, plenty of opportunity but what about motive?

The US fossil fuel industry has made a killing off of the proxy war in Ukraine. Western sanctions on Russia in response to its February 24, 2022 invasion of its neighbor have propelled the United States into becoming the world’s largest exporter of liquified natural gas (LNG). Much of that LNG has gone to Europe to make up for the drastic decline in Russian exports.

NATO member Norway has also greatly benefited. It was already the largest oil and gas producer in Europe, even before inaugurating the Baltic Pipe, just one day after Nord Stream was sabotaged. The fact that an attack on Nord Stream was being planned was known in advance. By whom? None other than the CIA. The notorious US spy agency warned Germany weeks before the explosions.

It is not just the North American energy industry that stands to heavily profit from the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines. Ukraine benefits as well. By using Nord Stream to send Germany natural gas through the Baltic Sea, Russia could cut out the intermediary of Ukraine, which was making billions of dollars in transit fees.

While Western governments have pinned the blame on Russia, without offering a shred of proof, it makes no strategic sense that Moscow would sabotage its own pipelines, after investing billions of dollars in the project. Russia has even floated the possibility of investing more money to repair the pipelines. This would be a very strange move after bombing your own energy infrastructure.

Yet the German government publicly rejected Russia’s offer to repair the pipelines. A spokesperson said Berlin would not accept Russian gas via Nord Stream 2, even if it is fixed, a position which smells suspiciously like the stink of self interests that emanated from the US / UK ordering their puppet Bellendskyyyyy to refuse talks with Russia on a peace deal brokered by Turkey's President Erdogan back in April 2022.

This blog has warned for years that with more than half its member states being economic basket cases, Europe’s dependence on the German industrial powerhouse could only end badly for the former Free trade club that became a wannabe geopolitical superstate. And sure enough it is happpening. The trigger has been an energy crisis brought about by Europe's having made itself dependent for energy needs on natural gas imported from Russia.

Escalating economic, financial and geopolitical crises brought about by arrogant beliefs that nothing could touch the 27 member trade Titan because it was too big, plus foolish and naive adoption of loonytoons energy policies in pursuit of pipe dreams like 'net zero,' exacerbated by the outbreask of war in eastern Europe have put increasing pressure on the whole EU project but on Germany in particular. And since the UK left the Union Germany has been propping up the EU economy.

The parallel crises of high inflation, energy shortages and food supply chain problems have also exposed the myth of “European unity” for the utter farce that it always was. It is becoming clear with the resurgence of nationalism in Italy, Spain, Sweden, France, Poland, Hungary and several other members that like most other things in Brussels' empire of lies, that the much vaunted unity was nothing but propaganda, the war and the perfect storm of crises have revealed the reality of the EU is opposite as allies turn against allies, each basket case state being in it only for what they can get.

Since somebody sabotaged the Nord Stream pipelines through which cheap natural gas  flowed from Russia to Germany the German has lost nearly 60% of its industrial production. As Zoltan Pozsar suggested, $2 trillion of German value depended on $20 billion of Russian gas.

Nobody yet knows who was responsible for sabotaging the pipelines,but the most likely suspects are all Germany’s supposed friends and allies: the US, UK, Poland, Sweden and Denmark, with a consensus forming around its being a CIA engineered false flag event using 'Special Ops' military personnel from another country to ensure 'plausible deinability.'

However the eagerness of the USA and its NATO partners to blame Russia (which actually owns the pipelines and earned a big slice of its foreign revenue from the gas that flowed through them,) and some eccentric accusation that Germany was responsible, (as if the Germans, knowing how dependent on Russian gas they were, would shoot themselves in the foot by cutting of their gas supply,suggests that senior figures in NATO are trying to hide something.

 Another possible explanation is that the target of the sabotage was not Russia although any harm done to Putin's regime was a bonus for the U. S. deep state as the Biden administration continues trying to provoke Russia into attacking U. S. interests to give the Americans an excuse to directly intervene in Ukraine, but that it was a deliberate and premeditated attack on Germany.

For years, the US has been pressuring Germany to cancel the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and to end its dependency on Russian gas . To persuade German leaders, their U.S. counterparts promised to replace Russian gas by buying U. S. gas at sky high prices. 

As we now know, Germany’s “friends and allies” in Washington  took advantage of German's folly in closing down its coal and nuclear power stations to appease the powerful Green lobby in German politics, by delivering natural gas at extortionate prices. According to an energy investment banker Laurent Segalen US gas producers could load a large LNG tanker in the US at a cost of about $60 million per shipment. The cargo could then be sold for up to $275 million in Europe, thanks to the massive price disparity between the US and European markets: in the US, Natural Gas trades at less than $7/mBtu (million British thermal units) while Dutch TTF futures recently traded at over $60/mBtu. So there we have it, to use the vernacular ov television detectives the USA had the means, the opportunity (privided by escalation of the war,) and the motive (to prop up its ailing economy,) for carrying out the sabotage.

Last month one of the key figures in creating Germany's energy and economic catastrophe, the Economy minister in the Social Democrat led ruling coalition, Robert Habeck publicly complained about the situation in an interview to German media. Only yesterday, French economy minister Bruno Le Maire chimed in: “We cannot accept that our American partner sells its LNG four times the price at which it sells it to its own industries.” But these lamentations come far too late to mitigate the extreme damage to European economies. The EU member states chose, almost unanimously, to back Ukraine in the thus pissing off Russian President Vladimir Putin and his oligarchic government thus providing the American deep state with the means to delflect media attention from the obvious conclusion.

Unfortunately whatever the truth might be, Germany is the loser.

Thus, with Poland, in a bid to solve its own economic woes, demanding 1.3 trillion Euros in reparations for WW2, Germany has suddenly found itself shafted in every way imaginable by “friends” and “allies.” Even though the reactions from Germany (apart from that Habeck interview) have been remarkably quiet, it is easy to imagine the panic gripping  Chancellor Scholz‘s government  as German industrialists and labor union leaders demand immediate action though none knows what to do. AHans Peter Wollseifer of the Central Association of German Crafts said to the Rheinische post, “Every day, we receive emergency calls from companies that are about to stop production because they can no longer pay the enormously increased energy bills.”  

The Federation of German Industries (BDI) also warned of a wave of bankruptcies due to energy cost inflation which is now a major challenge for 58% of companies while 34% believe that the crisis jeopardizes their very survival. The German nation is being pushed towards destruction and Putin is winning the economic war hands down. Naturally none of this is being mentioned by mainstream media, according to western corporate media narratives Germany has found itself in the situation where it may have only one partner to rely upon. If you guessed Russia, you guessed correctly. Of course, as a member of the EU and NATO, Germany cannot chart its foreign policy independently, but the pressure to somehow break out of its constraints and reclaim its sovereignty must be growing and it can only be a matter of time until Germany breaks ranks, withdraws its support for the proxy war with Russia the American deep state has yearned for since George W Bush was president. and seeks a treaty with Russia.
