In Defending 'Democracy' Zelensky Seeks To Silence All Dissent

by Egbert Nohbakkon, 11 October 2024

In a shock departure from its usual eitorial policy the website of Ukraińska Pravda news organisation has accused the office of Ukrainian Dictator Volodymyr Zelensky of “long-term and systemic pressure” on journalists, claiming that representatives of the Kyiv government are no longer allowed to talk to the portal’s journalists. A statement on this attempt by government to control the news also makes clear that the organisation will make sure the international public knows about the situation.

The office of Ukraine's unelected dictator Volodymyr Zelensky is putting pressure on Ukraińska Pravda to bring about the termination of advertising cooperation with the editorial office of the service.

“We draw the attention of our colleagues, partners and international organizations to the long-term and systematic pressure exerted by the Presidential Office on the editorial office and individual journalists of Ukrayinska Pravda,” the portal’s statement reads.

“We would like to remind you that the values of Ukrayinska Pravda since its establishment in 2000 have been editorial independence, objectivity and the ability to speak the truth,” it added.

The journalists stressed that the behavior of the Ukrainian authorities is “exceptionally outrageous” during the aggression from Russia, they claim that the end goal is to discourage advertising on the site, i.e., making it impossible for the portal to operate.

The editorial team noted an “openly emotional conversation” between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and journalist Roman Kravets in August, during which Zelensky tried to influence the editorial line of the website.

This is not the first time Ukraińska Pravda has faced ire from authorities given their dedication to independent journalism, and it is not the first time the portal has found itself in the crosshairs of those in power. Back in 2016, one of their top writers, Pavel Sheremet, was killed in a car bomb. The case has never been solved, with numerous questions surrounding the investigation.

Because the media coverage of the conflict in Ukraine by western media has been shamelessly biased in support of Ukraine and Zelensky while demonising Putin and Russia, we should remind ourselves on reading that the toxic dwarf claims the slaughter of a generation of young Ukriainian males he has presided over is somehow a defence of democracy, since this war began, Zelensky has 'democratically' banned opposition parties, criminalised dissent, cancelled elections at the end of his statutory term of office and now rules as an unelected dictator.

Human Rights Watch said back in 2017 that Ukraińska Pravda funder “Sheremet was known for his incisive journalism, raising issues of public concern – such as violence by volunteer battalions and investigations into corruption – that were often uncomfortable for the authorities.” The organization stated that he had been “harassed, threatened, and detained for his work.”

The journalists involved say they will not give in to attempts at censorship. They also called on the international community and all those who value freedom of speech to support the defense of the independence of Ukrainian media.

“These and other non-public signals indicate an attempt to influence our editorial policy. It is particularly outrageous to realize this during Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, when our common fight for both survival and democratic values is so necessary,” they stated.

When a country is run by an unelected  psychopathic dictator backed by gangsters and neo Nazis, and an entire, now unelected Rada assembly that have seized power, any conversation about democracy is a non-starter, it is time western media ceased playing hypocritical mind games on behalf of their governments and reported the reality, not only of what is going on at the front line but the mood of Ukrainian citizens in the general population.

Should they, and our political leaders summon the testicular fortitude to face hey are going to find out that one of Russia's main objectives of the Special Military operation is to remove this corrupt and hostile government that was put in power by a US / NATO / EU sponsored colour revolution in 2023 and replace the entire thing with something that works or is at least sustainable. Any peace process would have to involve the Toxic Dwarf's removal.

In March 2022, Putin offered to sign a peace treaty and withdraw from Ukraine, recognizing its existing borders.

The Terms:

Ukraine stops military hostilities against majority ethnic Russian provinces of Ukraine.

Ukraine adopts a politically neutral stance and abstains from military buildup.

Ukraine does not host military bases and offensive weapons of foreign countries.

Ukraine does not seek to join NATO.

Warmongers of the Biden administration, Boris Johnson and the NATO leaders bullied Zelenski into rejecting the peace offer and adpoting the ridiculous posture that Ukraine could defeat Russia if only the west would provide enough weapons, money and highly trained personnel.

That was almost $200 Billion and over 500,000 dead young Europeans ago. The destruction of Ukraine infrastructure is not even counted.

When your foreign policy is to 'bleed' another country of its young men, you are governed by ghouls.

And western politicians supported by mainstream media would have us believe Ukraiians want 4 more years of this?

Western leaders Still Want To Let Ukraine Join NATO Though Even They Must Know It Would Start WW3
‘When are you going to let us use the Storm Shadow?’ a maimed Ukrainian soldier is reported to have asked Boris Johnson during the former Prime Minister's most recent visit to Ukraine. The young man was referring to the Storm Shadw missiles donated to the Ukie was effort by the UK. His comment was prompted by the mass murderer Zelensky's latest idiotic whine about the US /UK / NATO refusal to sanction the use of such missiles to strike targets deep within Russian territory.

FUKUS axis troops (France, UK, USA) Unable To Halt ISIS March Towards Libyan Oil

We expressed the opinion long ago (and at every opportunity since) that having been sponsored and mentored by NATO, Saudi Arabia and other Sunni Muslim Arab states, ISIS had become a monster that nobody could control (not that the Saudis and their Sunni allies wanted to control the terror group). A fighting force such as ISIS cannot be beaten by conventional warfare tactics, they are not a state or even a tribal grouping that has homeland territory to defend, nor are they a crusade with the goal of liberating an oppressed minority or liberating an occupied territory. They are an ideologically driven group and this gives them the advantage of geographic and organisational fluidity.

Unfortunately though all this has been common knowledge and the difficulties of beating a guerilla force have been documented since Boudicca gave Roman Legions the runaround until more tactically naive, testicularly driven allies persuaded her to face Rome's well organised standing army in conventional battle and the Roman phalanxes butchered the Britons, our leaders seem unable to learn from history.

Once Russia and Iran started to engage ISIS forces in Syria the terrorists did what irregulars should always do, they shifted the focus of their operation. While western media gleefully reported that 'thousands of ISIS fighters are deserting' under the rain or firecrackers Obama's air strikes were dropping on them (nothing to do with Russia's bombs or Iran's republican Guard of course), in fact the extremists were heading for Libya.

Our reports of US, French and British troops on the ground in have been online here for a while now, click the headlines below to find out who and where:

UK Troops Set To Join Forces From USA and France In Libya

1,000 British elite troops deployed to Libyan oil fields to ‘halt the advance of ISIS’

The latest news coming out of Tripoli is that The Islamic State (ISIS) force in Libya is taking on extra personnel faster than anyone can keep up with, some of these are raw recruits from north and sub Saharan Africa but many are experienced fighters (i.e, they know which end of a gun is dangerous) and is advancing towards Libya’s oil crescent, eyeing billions of barrels that lie under the country that was Africa's most prosperous and civilized nation until western intervention led by Barack Hussein Obama overthrew the local dictator and left in his place a failed state. Now three rival groups claiming to be the government.  Needless to say Libya is not in a position to protect its oilfields, even with the help of U.S. air strikes and British, French and US troops on the ground.

Libya, showing oilfield infrastucture (click through for larger image from Oilprice.com)

In mid-December, the United Nations brokered a power-sharing agreement between Libya’s rival factions, but there is no chance of implementing this, you can't broker deals between gangsters and terrorists and expect them to succeed. That means there is no chance of Libyan government halting the advance of ISIS.

Things are getting very messy there, U.S. air strikes will put only a small dent in a big problem and all in all it is starting to look like another Syria is brewing in the Sahara..

According to U.S. intelligence figures, there are an estimated 6,000 ISIS fighters now in Libya, headquartered in the town of Sirte, as Oilprice.com has reported in the past. From here, they control hundreds of miles of coastline. There is nothing in Sirte they want; this is simply a strategic base.

Other reports say the terrorists are centred on Benghazi. Hat Tip from ISIS to Hillary Clinton for allowing Islamic Extremists to neutralise the west's last toe hold in eastern Libya. It is not just oil that attacts ISIS to Libya of course. Having lost many men to Assad's fairly well organised military they must like the total lack of effective government. And the European migrant crisis of last year has established Libyan seaports as the embarcation point of choice for jihadists en route to Europe.  Another plus is a strong position in Libya opens the door to Africa via some of the weakest and most chaotic African states. Only third is to get their thieving mitts on more oil revenues to fill quickly depleting coffers in Syria and northern Iraq.

The Business of War: Defense Sales Keep Economies Of Manufacturing Nations Afloat

Orwell knew a thing or two about human nature (Image source)

Tens of thousands have been killed and millions displaced due to 'humanitarian' interventions by the developed nations (led by the USA, France and the UKm the FUKUS axis) in the domestic politics of third world nation. Usually these interventions are justified by citing the urgent need to depose a tyrannical dictator who a bit nasty to those opposed to his regime, but who is getting in the way of achieving western geopolitical goals. War is good business of course so often the interventions support rebel groups who if they came to power would be far more oppressive and brutal regime than the one they replaced.

Assad was a fairly benign dictator, sure, he eliminated his opponents with ruthless efficiency but there are plenty of tyrants around the world who have killed far more of their own people (Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe for example) so why is it imperative to get rid of Assad? And why did Gadaffi have to go in Libya yet the regimes in Sudan, Somalia, Democratic Republic Of Congo, Mali, Mayanmar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Kazakstan and Uzbekistan to name but a few (without naming the one supported by the western powers whose ruler likes to have his critics boiled alive) all have abysmal rrecords of human rights abuses and yet are supported by the west and the United Nations.

The case is war is good for business, and now that Quantitative Easing (printing money) has failed to restart stagnant economies and negative interest rates (you pay the bank interest on your savings) looking likely to be as popular as a smelly fart in a small lift, war looks like the only remaining option to save the global economy from another collapse. British defense company BAE systems has seemingly anticipated the upturn in demand for missiles, guns, helicopters, tanks etc. and cashed in on the conflict, posting a sharp rise in revenue due to the sale of products mainly to Saudi Arabia, one of the top human rights abusing regimes in the world that has been busy bombing Yemen and sending weapons to ISIS for several years.

BAE's armaments and defence equipment sales sales rose by 7.6 percent in the past year to US$25.7 billion (£17.9bn), while the company's share price eclipsed earlier forecasts. The company, which specializes in selling air and naval military products, as well as munitions and warfare systems, had for years been making job cuts and a scaling down of production due to a lack of demand.

However, the increase in fighting in Syria and Yemen has seemingly boosted demand and subsequently the company's sales over the past three years. BAE confirmed it had increased aircraft deliveries to Saudi Arabia and struck a deal to supply the Gulf kingdom with 22 more "Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer" aircraft, along with additional ground equipment training aids.

The announcement of increased profits comes at a time of high debate about arms sales to Saudi Arabia, with many campaigners concerned about reports of alleged Saudi war crimes and breaches and international law associated with Riyadh's bombing campaign against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Other defence equipment makers doing well include United Technologies with military equipment sales of $11 billion out of a total revenue of $58 billion, Rayethon, whose military sales of $22 billion make up 90% of its total revenue, the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS), based in the Netherlands, with armaments sales of $17billion. Arms sales comprised just 24% of the company's revenue; Italian company Finmeccanica makes a wide range of arms, including helicopters and security electronics, nearly 60% of the company's sales in 2011 were in arms. Finmeccanica lost $3.2 billion in 2011 but since the escalation of hostilities has returned to profit.

Those are just a random sample, some major players, a couple of smaller ones. More European operations can be found HERE and the American Top 25 HERE A full list would be very long and that is without adding military contractors. Yes,war has always been good for business and that is why we seem set on an irreversible course to global conflict. You see even if the shooting war does not kick off, increased tensions will ensure bigger defence budgets for several decades.

I suppose I should be proud that British company BAE systems are world No. 1 but I cannot honestly say that I am. It would please me far more if we were top in one of the other areas in which we excel.

Remembering a time not so long ago when Libya was being held up by the French, UK and US governments as a striking example of benign and successful military 'humanitarian' intervention? The bombing of ISIS, the Islamic State is well under way in Iraq and Syria, and as predicted the American, British and French led campaign is already making things worse for civilians among whom the ISIS fighters are dispersed. For the third time in twenty five years a British Prime ~Minister has led the nation into a war in Iraq. It's understandable that Iraquis might be a bit pissed off with us. This time the threat is not a brutal dictator like Saddam Hussein or Muammar Gadaffi, the Libyan leader we helped depose, but Islamic State, a concept, an idea, but also a rabble of bloodthirsty maniacs funded by European and American money, armed with European and American weapons and trained by European and American 'military advisers.

Die Hard With A Tribal Mask: 23 Dead After Al-Qaeda Storms West African Hotel

French special forces troops surround the Hotel Splendid in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

In September last year, in reporting the spread of Islamic extremism in Africa we reported that thanks to the FUKUS axis (France, UK, USA) taking out Libyan strongman Muammar Gadaffi and turning Libya into a failed state with three rival groups claiming to be the government, Al Qaeda and ISIS had been handed a convenient operations base with no local dictator to oppose them, from which they could infiltrate central and southern Africa. Most vulnerable nations were Chad, Mali, Niger (under attack from the south as well, Boko Haram terrorists make regular incursions into its territory) and Burkina Faso (formerly Upper Volta) which does not have a border with Libya but is a target for extremists anyway , because security in these poor African states.seldom extends far beyond the Presidential palace.

The renewed turmoil in the landlocked country which is Africa’s fourth-largest gold producer and which has been torn by civil conflicts since it gained independence from France in 1960. Coup d'etats in 1966, 1970, 1977 and 1983, with changes of political style from the new regimes each time destabilised the country and obstructed progress.

In October of 2014, President Blaise Compaoré, who had ruled as head of a totalitarian regime since 1990, holding power by suppressing opposition, stepped down after nearly three decades as President. On Thursday, October 30 of that year, Compaoré sought to pass legislation that would have paved the way for a new 5-year term.

Here's how WSJ describes what happened next: "That ambition was thwarted by tens of thousands of his compatriots, who swarmed the streets of the capital Ouagadougou. They set fire to the parliament building where the vote had been scheduled to take place, among other government offices. They tore through hotels and shops seen as pro-regime. Up to 30 people were killed in rioting."

Since then anarchy and chaos have ruled, making Burkina Faso a natural target for the Islamic jihad.

A year later later, an abortive attempt by western powers to establish democratic rule by holding free elections was derailed when General Gilbert Diendere (a former chief military adviser for Compaoré) seized power in a military coup. The move coincided with a government committee's decision to disband the presidential guard, an elite group of Compaoré loyalists.

Shortly after that as a result of widespread civil unrest, Diendere stood down and interim president Michel Kafando who had been arrested arrested during the coup, was returned to power. Two months later, Burkina Faso witnessed its first democratic power change in five-and-a-half decades when the country elected Roch Marc Christian Kabore president.

In all that political betrayal and backstabbing rule of law collapsed and the security situation in Burkina Faso descended into chaos as history repeated itself 'first as tragedy then as farce', as the saying goes. Thus Al Queda were able to cross equally lawless and chaotic Niger and into the capital city of Burkina Faso to lay seige to an hotel. It was the second attack on an hotel used by westerners in a West African capital since November 2015.

Al Qaeda terrorists burned cars to prevent security forces approaching the Hotel Splendid

As Al-Qaeda fighters stormed the "Splendid" Hotel in Ouagadougou nearly two dozen people were killed in the initial assault and three gunmen - members of AQIM or, Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb - took some 126 people hostage. The militants also conducted "operations" at the nearby Restaurant Cappuccino where ten bodies were found in the wake of the violence.

A team led by French Special Operations troops forced their way into the Splendid, shot the gunmen, described by Burkina Faso's security minister as "an Arab and three black Africans, and freed the hostages, 33 of whom were injured.

"Clashes ended after a period of sustained gunfire and explosions that appeared to focus on the Restaurant Cappuccino early on Saturday," a witness told Reuters. "The Splendid Hotel is popular with Westerners and French soldiers based in Burkina Faso." One hostage said the attackers were targeting "white people."

A witness report from Edward Bunker, an American health worker was broadcast by the BBC, Bunker told the news crew

The operation was reportedly held up by a series of booby traps. "What's making our job more difficult is that they've rigged the access to the upper floors," a Burkinabe officer, said on Saturday.

We have warned in The Daily Stirrer and our other sites since 2005 that Al Qaeda cannot be dealt with diplomatically, these people are extremists and fanatics and whatever demands they make that western powers concede, will only result in further and more unacceptable demands. We must draw the line now to stop the advance of Islamic extremism.
