Climate Change Scares Used As A Globalist Weapon Against Universal Prosperity

If you have read the latest research on the Gulf Stream published by Science Advances and are naive enough to believe it, you may have been relieved to learn that the world is getting on with decarbonisation quite nicely. The report warns that the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC) is closer to a tipping point than feared due to Greenland ice melt, which dilutes seawater salinity and weakens the gyres.

The collapse could come at any time, it could be nonlinear and sudden, and it could lower average temperatures in North European cities by 5 to 15 degrees – turning Britain into southern Alaska. It would set off a global chain reaction and destabilise rainforests.

Well that's what it says, what may actually be happening is a different matter and as we know, to date every climate change prediction made by members of the environmental sciences academe has been wrong, hopelessly wrong.

We should not, however, be too worried about this latest climate change scare, not only does it contradict the usual narrative that a climatic version of thermal runaway is going to boil us all by tomorrow lunchtime, but it is merely a recycled version of a scare story that comes around every two or three years. I have been reading about the imminent slowing of the Gulf Stream for about 25 years and nothing has happened yet.

If only the scientists had some idea of what they are actually trying to do when they build the mathematical models from which they obtain the data on which these predictions are based, they might have some chance of at least being partly right.

But they don't, instead they imagine themselves the high priests of some crackpot religion who have a mystical direct line of communication with their god, whose name is 'The Science.' Thus they imagine themselves infallible and in their arrogance they have led civilisation towards its own destruction, enthusiastically followed by politicians. Now, with the world on the brink of war and the economies of the liberal democracies in ruins because our leaders have focused on fighting imaginary monsters like climate change and systemic racism rather than dealing with real problems, our nations have arrived for a gunfight armed with a water pistol.

None of this happened by accident of course, thanks to the great liberalisation of European societies in the 18th and 19th centuries, which had actually begun somewhat earlier when the minds of people were released from the shackles of religion and the natural sciences, mathematics, philosophy and the arts began to flourish, spawning the technological and social advances that led to the industrial revolution, a new social class was born. This bourgeois social layer were increasingly well educated, more so in many cases than their former masters, the nobility and landed gentry. The awareness that came from education led them to demand the right to exert some influence over the direction of the nations they lived in. Gradually voting rights were extended sufficiently for this new middle class to challenge the status quo in which since the earliest civilisations had vested power in a small elite.

By the late 20th century this emancipation had spread to the working class, but while the old aristocracy graciously relinquished their social superiority another small group, those who had served the elite, as lawyers, bankers, administrators, managers, teachers and record keepers did not. Taking a very broad view of history, this class seemed to resent the fact that people who worked in trades were now their equals (and often earned more money.) With their ranks swelled by professional engineers,  accountants, civil and municipal servants and other bureaucrats the bourgeois became the technocratic class, aka experts, and set about securing their position as high social status individuals. 

Unfortunately the influence of this class had a suffocating effect on the forces that had driven progress for over two centuries. They replaced religious dogma with their own doctrines of equality, diversity and inclusion and when the creed of this new system was challenged, though they could not fling offenders into an oubliette as the old aristocracy had, they ostracised those who questioned their rules to the extent that careers were ruined and livelihoods lost.

The outcome was loss of trust for the ruling classes and the organisations and institutions they controlled by the wage earning class, still numerically the largest social group. Productivity dropped, loyalty was extinguished, the bonds that held communities together were destroyed and self interest became the dominant moral value in western nations. The experts who had replaced the old upper class were not as expert as they thought, over - specialisation had left them lacking in life - experience, they were big on theory but knew nothing of how things worked in the real world.

Thirty years ago the West was triumphant and liberal democracy had won the day, The Soviet Union had disintegrated, China was liberalising and the first Gulf War had put militant Islam firmly in its place.  The Berlin Wall had fallen and a uni-polar world was born. The USA was the world's sole remaining superpower, China was an industrial and financial backwater and Russia was engaged in the process of detente with the west begun under Mikhail Gorbachev.

Ten years later Russia had become a major player in the supply of oil, gas and other essential commodities, China had come from nowhere to challenge for the 5th and 6th places occupied by UK and France in the world economic league table. Fast forward another ten years and China has overtaken Japan to become the world's second largest economy behind only the USA, and Russia is creeping into the bottom of the top ten (source).

How had China done so well in an open, globalised world? The truth is all the cards were stacked in China’s favour in the business environment, which the Americans created with the Washington Consensus. While virtue signalling leaders had hamstrung their nations' industry over 'green' concerns, China, with a government that made the right noises at climate summits but did not give a damn about climate change scaremongering, was happy to welcome the dirty industries being forced out of the west because of costs and restrictions imposed by The Science for the purpose of 'saving the environment'.

Maximising profit and securing growth in any business from a corner shop to a national economy is all about reducing costs, increasing productivity and getting the right products into the market at the right price.

In the west the green lobby had declared war on 'fossil fuels' had imposed punitive taxes on fuel in order to fund massive subsidies for generators of 'green energy' from  unreliable sources' and imposed restrictive laws on energy users. China had coal fired power stations to provide cheap energy. China had lax regulations reducing environmental and health and safety costs. China had low taxes and a minimal welfare state.

China had a low cost of living so employers could pay low wages. China had all the advantages in an open globalised world.And

Western companies, wanting to earn kudos with the Green Inquisition were eager, even desperate to off-shore production to low cost China, where costs were so low it was possible to ship goods halfway round the world and still undercut locally made goods in western markets.  Thumbs up from Greta Thunberg does not keep the profit and loss account out of the red.

Western businesses could not cut costs sufficiently to compete, and were forced to off-shore more and more production, not just to China but other emerging economies, India, Indoneasia, Brazil, Nigeria etc. in order to sell profitably. They gave away decades of Western superiority in design, technological development, management and business know - how. 

The developing nations offered a new, nimble, fast growing economy compared to the lumbering bureaucracy which had suffocated enterprise and initiative in the economies of Western nations. Investors would be able to achieve better returns in the fast growing far east economies and this is where the money headed. US hedge funds love China and know it’s the best place to make real money.

The problem in the 1990 was that the rules of the game had changed and nobody told our political leaders. Thus we never understood that we we not playing the game we invented to a new set of rules but were in a new game. Politically correct thinking in the west had blinded us to the fact that the emergence of China, India and the rest as economic powers had not just moved the goalposts of the global economy but had relocated the entire stadium.

Now we do understand the rules you can see why we have done so badly.

Full Spectrum Dominance? Full Spectrum Failure.

As it becomes more obvious every day that the war in Ukraine is only being prolonged at the behest of Washington DC, because while Russia cannot lose the war because of its territorial advantage, superior numbers, superior weapons and its immunity to the west's main weapon, economic sanctions, the USA cannot afford to lose because its credibility as leader of the 'free world, already damaged after its crew ups in Libya and Iraq and its failures in Afghanistan and Syria, will slump to zero.

But while misreporting and propaganda masks the true situation in Ukraine from taxpayers in Europe & the USA, Russia, with support from China, India, Iran, Saudi Arabia and a host of third world nations, is winning the real war, the battle to replace the US Dollar as global reserve currency. As things stand the American dream of global hegemony or as American military types prefer to say, Full Spectrum Dominance, look to be dead.

In a article in todays Counterpunch, Roger McKenzie, a reporter for the Morning Star, and the general secretary of Liberation, one of the oldest UK human rights organizations, writes a commentary on the United States policy since 1997, now known as “Full Spectrum Dominance (FSD).”

According to McKenzie, the United States behaves the way that it does on the international stage in order to safeguard the profits of monopoly capital, which carries politicians in Washington around in its pockets like loose change.

FSD means that the United States also will not tolerate others, such as China, muscling in on potential new markets (although China seems to be muscling in on Africa and South East Asia quite easily while Joe Biden's administration obsesses over Trump and transgender issues,) or swaying people away from its sphere of influence, and according to McKenzie, “China is seen as the biggest threat to the profits of the companies that currently decide pretty much what we will eat and even when we can eat it.”

“Enforcement of [FSD] has included everything from the funding of opposition forces in sovereign nation (color revolutions like the one in 2014 that put the current Ukrainian neo - nazi regime in power,), the removal or even assassination of political leaders who refuse to toe the line, economic sanctions, and military intervention.”

Everyone should read the article, but I do have a bone to pick the author, and with Counterpunch.

McKenzie makes no mention of Russia, the US proxy war in Ukraine, or the history of the US/NATO encirclement of Russia. IN fact there is no mention NATO at all. How can someone write an article about FSD without mentioning NATO and the Russian struggle against the US policy of Full Spectrum Dominance? NATO is an integral part of the mechanism that enforces FSD. It appears that McKenzie and Counterpunch both have a problem discussing the elephant in the room: Russia has drawn a line at US/NATO placing US/NATO nukes on Russia’s western border with Ukraine as a part of the US policy of FSD.

McKenzie correctly points out that: “Anyone who expects the Chinese to simply sit back and take the provocations dealt out by the two-faced Americans is living in cloud cuckoo land.” OK, but does that not also apply to Russia as well. 

According to McKenzie, “The answers to full spectrum dominance is full spectrum resistance and organizing. It is necessary to gear our efforts away from piecemeal change and toward revolutionary transformation. This will mean bringing together unions, climate activism, equality organizing, and a range of other social and economic movements in a serious change away from liberal posturing.”

All, well and good, but when this strategy was successfully used during the Vietnam conflict, the movement did not turn its back on the victims of US foreign policy then, and we should not do it today in Ukraine. Both the Ukrainian and the Russian people are the victims of US (FSD) policy. There is equivalency to the present struggle: The ARNV and the AFU (the US proxy army in Vietnam and Ukraine), the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam and the pro-Russian, anti-Nazi resistance fighters of the Donbass, and the People’s Liberation Army of Vietnam (UAV) and Russia the real target of the Ukrainian conflict.

The War Racket And Who Is Making Money From It

 

War Is A Racket. Like most truisms nobody really knows who said it first but veteran US political maverick Ron Paul is being credited for resurrecting the phrase is one of his blistering denunciations of the current kerfuffle in Ukraine. 

Every war is a huge opportunity for the corporate businesses collectively known as the Military - Industrial Complex to make obscenely bloated profits from us long - suffering taxpayers as they first supply the weapons and explosives to destroy a nation and then the building materials and construction equipment needed to rebuild it.The war on Ukraine is no different, the USA and its NATO allies could end the conflict tomorrow by halting the supply of arms and ammo to Ukraine and demanding that Russia ceases hostilities pending a United Nations moderated peace deal, but the war is such a great a money-making racket for weapons manufacturers in the USA, UK and European Union and for politicians such a good way of diverting public attention from the mess they have made of the global economy, energy policy, food supplies, management of the 'pandemc' crisis and the obvious hoax that is climate change, nobody wants it to end. The elites are perfectly happy to keep allowing Ukrainian soldiers to die on the battlefield as long as more weapons contracts are funded by the governments of the world and public attention is focused on the war rather than the plethora of cock - ups that would otherwise be top of the news.

Raytheon and Lockheed Martin seem to be more than willing to keep pocketing profits, down to the last remaining Ukrainian soldier, even if the weapons being shipped to Ukraine and largely destroyed by Russia’s interdiction efforts. Racal electronics and Rolls Royce will keep supplying military technology for as long as someone is willing to pay. It's easy money.

Russia has abandoned its assault with tanks and infantry and is now focusing missile strikes on Ukraine’s railroad infrastructure in order to disrupt deliveries of weapons and ammo from western nations. This is actually smart because Ukraine’s railroads use a “wide gauge” rail width which is incompatible with most other European nations (Ukraine’s rail system was built by the former Soviet Union and uses the 5 ft width, which is common across the former Soviet republics). Importantly, this means that NATO cannot simply replace Ukraine’s locomotives and rolling stock because the wheel widths are incompatible.

This is why alt_media and even some mainstream media sites whose readers have had enough of the usual stream of Russophobic propaganda are reporting Ukraine troops are running out of ammo and other supplies, desperate for air cover which isn’t coming any time soon because supplying the neo - Nazi nutters in Kiev with military aircraft would be seen as an act of war against Russia by the nation that supplied them. And nobody wants to face the consequences.

Russia’s decisive victory in Ukraine is all but assured (in spite of daily mainstream media reports that Ukraine is winning,), and shipments of more artillery, tanks and drones from western nations won’t make a dent in the real situation on the ground. Besides, Ukraine is running out of soldiers too, while the clown Zelinsky claims billions of Russian soldiers have lost their lives while only a handful of Ukrainian troops have died, independent western reporters embedded in Ukraine say that while Russian losses have been heavy, Ukrainian casualties are far higher . 

No doubt Zelensky is close to surrendering, but the Biden regime, supported by UK, France and the United Nations is trying to prevent that from happening in order to try to make sure Ukraine’s bioweapons laboratories (and all their records) don’t fall into the hands of Putin.

Of course, the delusional woketards in the USA still think Russia is losing and their forces are in full retreat. Imagine their surprise when the entire map of Ukraine gets redrawn soon, as the country is partitioned with a new, Russian speaking nation being created east of the Dneiper and a land corridor from Russian teritory to Crimes taking away most of Ukraine's southern coast.  That’s going to be a wake-up call for the war worshippers who are hysterically calling on their governments to give Ukraine the weapons they need to escalate the war.

We Told You So - Government-funded Report Confirms World’s Largest offshore Wind Farm is Unprofitable

A report  commissioned by the Norwegian government has contradicted Boris Johnson’s recent claim made to the UK Parliament that offshore wind costs have fallen by 70% in a decade. The report also blows a huge hole in Johnson's grandiose pledges to the COP26 conference that offshore wind power would propel Britain to its net - zero target for Carbon Dioxide emissions well before 2020, the target set by the climate conference for achieving that target. 

The Norwegian report confirms that the UK’s newest and most overhyped offshore wind farms are high-cost operations that, if they are to before the mainstay of the UK's electricity generation industry will either drive millions of people into fuel poverty or the wind farm operators into bankruptcy. 

The group of engineers responsible for the report say the  Dogger Bank wind farms complex, the world's largest when it opens in a few months time, will be unprofitable from day one, and as an asset isessentially worthless, with a value of around minus £1 billion in current terms.

These findings are only the visible tip of a very large iceberg of unprofitable offshore wind projects threatening to devastate pension funds that have invested in renewable energy schemes due to the wildly inaccurate estimates of scientists regarding their likely output and running costs..

The report confirms as series of findings published by the GWPF, The Renewable Energy Foundation  and others, which show that offshore wind costs are very high, at best are only falling slowly, and are far above the auction strike prices being agreed.

Andrew Montford, Deputy Director of Net Zero Watch said: “We have been warning since 2017 that contrary to reports in mainstream media there has been no revolution in offshore wind costs. Every time we get new financial data from offshore wind farms, the cost estimates go up. Just this week, our estimates for the Seagreen 1 wind farm have increased by nearly 20%, and those for Dogger Bank by a similar amount.”

The Government’s Net Zero plans rely on a five-fold increase in the wind fleet, mostly from offshore developments, and an extraordinary decline in the cost of the power it produces.

Wind Farms in the UK are privately operated for profit and the government subsidies they have to be given by government simply to get them to break even point add a significant amount, in the form of 'The Gren Levy' to the fuel bill of every household. The latest findings mean that the costs of delivering Net Zero will increase by hundreds of billions of pounds, and probably by trillions.

Craig Mackinlay MP, the chairman of the parliamentary Net Zero Scrutiny Group, commented: 

“It is becoming increasingly obvious that our dash for renewables, notably wind, is failing on the two key criteria of energy security and affordability. An avoidable energy crisis is approaching but sadly our government is yet to recognise it.”

Dr Benny Peiser, Net Zero Watch director said:

“The Climate Change Committee’s Net Zero plan has already been shown to have used wildly optimistic assumptions on the cost of renewable energy. The Norwegian report is another nail in the coffin of its credibility.”

This blog and its sister publications has said for years that the plans being made by governments which claim their energy policies are 'led by science' are totally unrealistic and about as scientific as a witch doctor slaughtering a cockrel then throwing a bunch of old bones in the air and claiming they predict there will be catastrophe if the tribe do not give him two virgins, six goats and a bottle of the white man's fire water. Inevitably we have been called 'conspiracy theorists' but how we could have conspired with the Norwegian authors of this report when we had never heard of them until after the report was published.

Identity politics has morphed into identity investing: the newest breed of traders buy stocks simply because they are fans. This is one explanation offered for the continuing rise of Tesla despite the incresingly apparent evidence that its founder and big boss is certifiably insane and the fact that the electric car maker runs is car making operation at a loss and only stays in business by selling carbonm credits handed out by the US Government and various state legislatures, including the global capital of crazy, California, New York state, Illinois and every other corupt, Democrat controlled shit hole.

That Elon Musk has recently anointed himself the Technoking of Tesla while rebranding his chief financial officer as “Master of Coin,”  the title held by Littlefinger, Tyrion Lannister and other characters in Game Of Thrones is not a joke. It’s not even (or not just) an attention-seeking stunt. There’s much more to it than that. However Musk's move has triggered the latest wave of enthosiasm among electric car nerds and tech cult members for buying shares in Musk's great bubble.  

Some have suggested Musk’s idiotic antics over job titles are a ploy to divert attention from the many downsides of Tesla’s performance, the upsides of which exist only in the minds of Musk and the millions of tech fanboys (and a few fangirls,) who believe every bit of hyperbole that spills from his mouth, viz Musk's splashy announcement last month about a $1.5bn bet on Bitcoin which came around the same time as regulators in China, its fastest growth market, were flagging safety and quality issues but triggered another uptick in the price of Tesla stock on financial markets when the news from China should have caused a sharp drop as China is the car company's biggest market.

The latest whacky disclosure coincides with a report from Barclays Investment Bank that shows Tesla’s share of the electric car market in Europe dropped from roughly a third at the end of 2019 to 10pc at the beginning of this year. Tesla is also having problems both technical and legal, with its “self-driving” feature, which, pardon me if I’m being a bit too technical here, when I say that it is effing uselesss. The legal issues mainly concern the families of tesla owners killed when the self-driving technology failed with fatal consequences.

Maybe there’s a diversionary element to it but this kind of tactic on planet Musk is a strategy. You could call it corporate populism. He's telling the faithful what they want to hear.

His Techno Highness regularly demonstrates that he has less than zero interest in governance norms, customer satisfaction or in the traditional conduits of financial information - like bank analysts or the media - instead playing to the crowd through social media (and subversive SEC filings).

Elon Musk has changed his job title from chief executive to 'Technoking' of Tesla

It works because the crowd is big enough to make a difference and gullible enough to fall for it again and again. The number of retail investors, the majority of whom are under the age of 34, doubled in 2020, the generation that does not understand there's a big difference between researching something and Googling it. The significance of this trend towards young, independent invetors buying and selling small quantities of stock has only recently become apparent. Encouraged by social media campaigns particularly on the Reddit site, retail investors have accounted for a third of all US stock market trading, meaning they collectively yield greater sway than every single hedge fund and mutual fund in the country combined.

Many of these investors aren’t doing rigorous financial analysis. If they were, they’d be worried that Tesla has a p/e ratio ( a company’s share price expressed as a multiple of how much money it actually makes) of 180x. This compares to an average among US equities of 19x, UK, Germany and France about the same, according to analysis by Schroders. 

At the end of January Tesla was worth $752bn, placing it in the top 10 most valuable companies in the world. In fact it now represents over a third of the market value of the entire global car industry. This is a vast overvaluation for a company run by a nutter that is in reality a niche car maker.

“Such an immense market capitalisation makes sense only if the expectation is that Tesla will come to dominate the entire auto industry, not just the [electric vehicle] market,” says Rob Arnott of Research Affiliates. “Such an achievement requires that both Tesla’s brand and technology become so dominant that the company can earn profit margins that exceed those of Ferrari on a level of production exceeding that of Toyota.”

That ought to sound a bit far fetched even to Musk's biggest fan, it certainly does to one of his biggest rivals Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota, which is memory serves me well vies with Ford and Volkswagen for the unofficial title of world'd biggest car maker. It would clearly be impossible for Tesla to dominate the car industry in such a way while its rivals also continue to see their share prices rise whenever a new EV is announced. And yet that is what the soaring share prices of other EV specialists over the past year and the relatively stable share prices of traditional car markers currently implies. In other words, investors appear to believe there will be no losers from this ultra-competitive race to go electric. In the future there will be no losrs only runners up! How very woke!

This irrational obsession with electric cars is a classic example of what the financial trading community call the “big market delusion”, which usually happens when a new market is created or an old market disrupted through innovation. All the different players get valued as if everyone will win because nobody knows how things will play out. The cannabis market where shares in firms that sell cannabis based products in US states where the drug has been legalised is another example.

Of course, Musk would argue that Tesla is not just another carmaker but a software-enabled business that will overturn the old economics of the industry before turning its sights on robotaxis, self-driving trucks, battery technology and more. Indeed, his new job title kind of makes exactly this point. 

But the short-sellers in the established sector of the market who are betting on Tesla stock prices falling dramatically aren’t convinced. It’s not that they think Tesla is a bad investment at the right price. Clearly the future is electric with western governments calling time on the internal combustion engine. But the sceptics believe that the company’s share price has gone way beyond a basic appreciation of those facts. And their logic is sound. There’s only one problem. 

 Tesla doesn’t have ordinary consumers and shareholders but fans. And, as any follower of English football will tell you, the well from which a true fan draws their misplaced optimism is almost fathomless. But the Tesla bubble is something different again. Apart from being fans of Tesla, fans of Technology and fans of fantasy fiction, many of the new breed of investor understand that they are behaving irrationally while co-ordinating campaigns on social media and entreating each other to hold onto stocks with “diamond hands” even in the face of overwhelming evidence they should sell. 

The traditional investor was looking for a reasonable risk-adjusted return in order to fund their retirement. The new breed rallies to a banner emblazoned with the acronym “YOLO” – you only live once. They are not investing in Tesla because of its p/e ratio or in the hope that sky high share valuations go interstellar; they are investing because of who they are and how it makes them feel. They are investing because Greta Thunberg. They are not investing in business but in causes, to sen a politicical message to ......... we're not sure who. 

Identity politics has morphed into identity investing. And there are signs this new brand of shareholder won’t be put off by the next big market correction as their predecessors were when the dotcom bubble burst. 

A recent survey of US retail investors conducted by Deutsche Bank found that respondents are planning to invest over a third of any stimulus cheque they receive from the Government in equities (is that a money-laden helicopter I hear?) and will treat any sell-off as a buying opportunity.

The very fact that Deutsche Bank conducted such a survey clearly demonstrates that traditional market participants are starting to realise they need to figure out a way of analysing the phenomenon and incorporating it into their own models.

The default assumption must remain that economic gravity will reassert itself in the end. But it may take a lot longer than we mere technosubjects had supposed.

But a cautionary note for potential investors on Musk's "achievement" in getting Tesla into profit. All Tesla's profits to date have come from selling government issued carbon credits to conventional auto makers that have not achieved the unrealistic targets set by 'woke' politicians for reducing emissions. So hailing Tesla's incursion into profitability is a fraud, they are still losing vast amounts on auto making operations.

The carbon credits system is itself a fraud, as independent analysis has shown the shift to electric propulsion does not reduce emissions, it merely shifts them away from the back end of the vehicle to pre - build processes such as mining and processing cobalt and lithium and other rare earth metals and the equally polluting battery manufacturing process.
