Billionaire Investor Hits Out at Disney Woke Activism After String of Box Office Flops

 

“People Go to Watch a Movie to Be Entertained, Not to Get a Message” - Nelson Peltz

Billionaire investor Peltz, whose stake in the Disney Corporation is worth an estimated $3.5 billion has declared war on Disney Corp. top management's woke agenda that has turned the company's output from hugely popular but intellectually retarded money spinners into expensive, boring, self - righteous flops. He has hit out at the entertainment giant over the use of all-black and all-female casts which they claim is done in the interests of diversity and inclusivity.

Peltz sided with accusations that the Hollywood behemoth has become too woke. He said: “People go to watch a movie or a show to be entertained. They don’t go to get a message,” and took issue with recent releases The Marvels and Black Panther, which portray female and black superheroes respectively.

In an interview with the Financial Times, the tycoon said: “Why do I have to have a Marvel that’s all women? Not that I have anything against women, but why do I have to do that? Why can’t I have Marvels that are both? Why do I need an all-black cast?” 

Disney’s recent push into racially divisive casting is a resultv of efforts by the US company to balance its output after decades of films starring mostly white and male characters and actors, but the policy has fuelled criticism that Disney is focusing on political activism at the expense of attracting audiences.

After years of delivering blockbusters, Disney’s film studios, which include Marvel, Pixar and Lucasfilm, have suffered a string of disappointing box office openings.

Peltz certainly has a point, it is obvious from internet comment threads that many people struggle to understand how all black or all female casts are diverse. If the idea is to equate casts with current demographic proportions it will be difficult to make films unless based on stories about today.

In the UK the Asian proportion far exceeds black while both were insignificant until recently. Now, judged by the racial makeup of UK television and film casts the UK must be at least 50% non European but any film or TV drama set in the UK more than 20 years ago cannot accurately reflect demographics without falling foul of the Politically Correct Thought Police.

We The Punters do not want films and TV shows that are a factual representation of life. And drama was never about factual reporting of events, we pays our money and we takes our choice which is to see good stories, convincingly acted so we can suspend disbelief, with a satisfactory outcome. Don't tell the woke brigade this, they often prove they do not possess sufficient imagination to distinguish fact from fiction.

Disney are not the only company in entertainment media to adopt this crazy self-defeating agenda. What is difficult to understand is why corporations do this to themselves given that they can see very clearly by looking at the bottom line the damage it is doing and could even refer to the fate of other corporations who have attempted to serve the woke agenda rather than the tastes of paying customers. As a result of their follies the phrase 'Get woke, go broke,' has entered the language. 

 

Perhaps the policy is more subtle that it is given credit for, and the real purpose is to provide a  distraction from the decline of the western powers and the shift of geopolitical influence from west to ease, along with the effects of deindustrialisation  and the financial instability that go with political mismanagement. If that is the case it is not happening, but the woke mindset cannot change direction. The reasoning goes that if a product promoting woke ideology flops it can only be because the message was not delivered strongly enough. Next time there must be less entertainment and more preaching

 

What will happen next as western societies become increasingly fragmented, tribal and violent as a result of all this misguided propaganda?

 

There is a scene in The Lady From Shanghai in which Orson Welles tells Rita Hayworth about the shark feeding frenzy. Intitaially sharks might be drawn to a kill by blood and then they bite at the carcass and release more blood and more sharks arrive and as the kill is devoured, driven crazy by all the blood in the water they start biting at each other. In the end they are so crazed and ravenous that they bite at their own stomachs until they bleed out. This is the sort of madness that we are facing.

Silicon Valley Bank Collapse: Get Woke Go Broke

 

Collapsed tech industry lender Silicon Valley, which collapsed last week as borrowers defaulted on loans and investors withdrew funds is proof of the mantra: Get Woke, Go Broke. News emerging from the wreckage reveals that the  Bank operated without a chief risk officer between April 2022 and January 2023 while the operation's United Kingdom-based CRO stands accused of prioritizing pro-diversity initiatives over her actual role.

This revelation comes after the firm,, which ceased trading on Friday 10 March, became the largest bank to collapse since the 2008 financial crisis - disclosing a $1.8 billion loss in its finances. The news is expected to trigger chaos when stock markets resume trading on Monday.

Last Thursday, March 9, Founders Fund, a prominent venture capital firm founded by billionaire investor Peter Thiel advised its companies to move their funds out of SVB, according to one person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified discussing private information.

SVB Financial Group Chief Executive Greg Becker held a conference call on the same day advising clients of SVB-owned Silicon Valley Bank to “stay calm” amid concern about the bank’s financial position, according to another person familiar with the matter.

Becker held the roughly 10-minute call about 11:30 a.m. Pacific time. He asked the bank’s clients, including venture capital investors, to support the bank the way the bank has backed its customers over the last 40 years, according to the person.

Worries surrounding the lender ricocheted around Silicon Valley on Thursday. There is “a good deal of panic,” said Jenny Fielding, managing partner at the fund, which invests in early-stage companies.

SVB's former head of risk, Laura Izurieta, who formerly performed a similar role for Capital One, left the bank in April 2022. She wasn't replaced until January 2023 when the bank hired Kim Olson, formerly of Japanese bank Sumitomo Mitsui.

But the story here is not the change of personnel, it is that after Izurieta left, SVB's Chief Risk Officer's office in the bank's Santa Clara headquarters stood empty, instead of overseeing and managing risks associated with SVB's European, African and Middle Eastern portfolios, the nominal deputy CRO, Jay Ersapah -- a self-described "queer person of color from a working-class background" -- was busy organising an assortment of woke programs, including a month long LGBT Pride event as she co-chaired SVB's "European LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group."   

On taking over the role of CRO in January, Kim Olsen said, "SVB has an impressive track record of sound growth and remaining true to its strategy of serving the innovation economy. I am excited to lead SVB’s outstanding risk management team and continue to build SVB’s risk management framework and capabilities in this important next chapter of the firm’s trajectory," 

Just six weeks later the bank went broke. For the sake of fairness we must assume Olsen was given misleading information in the handover from her predecessor.

The bank's CEO Greg Becker credited Olson's 'deep and multi-faceted financial services experience as a senior risk leader and former regulator and bank supervisor positions her perfectly to actively manage SVB’s financial and non-financial risks.'

Obviously Kim was not fully conversant with the risks of taking over a job from an LGBTQWERTYIA activist whose priorities were noting to do with the company or its business. In fact in naming Ersapah as a top 100 LGTBQ Future Leader, professional network Outstanding said: 

'Jay is a leading figure for the bank’s awareness activities including being a panelist at the SVB’s Global Pride townhall to share her experiences as a lesbian of color, moderating SVB’s EMEA Pride townhall and was instrumental in initiating the organization's first ever global "safe space catch-up", supporting employees in sharing their experiences of coming out,' her bio on the Outstanding website states.

It adds that she is 'allies' with gay rights charity Stonewall and had authored numerous articles to promote LGBTQ awareness.

These included 'Lesbian Visibility Day and Trans Awareness week.' 

Separately she was also praised in a Facebook post by the group 'Diversity Role Models,' a charity which campaigns against homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying in UK schools.

The bank's website says that the CRO at the bank reports to a seven-person committee made up of board members and the CEO.  

One would hope other businesses can learn from the SVB collapse and in future ensure they hire only people whose professional focus is on profit and loss rather that LGBTQ awareness and minority rights. A story that was often told when I was studying economics concerned Lord Northcliffe, founder of lowbrow and sensationalist newspaper The Daily Mail which sold for a penny.

When outraged criticts accused Northcliffe of appealing to the lowest levels of society, he reputedly replied: "And why not sirs, their penny is as good as yours and there's a damn sight more of 'em."

Last Spring, my book Clinton Cash was released and it initially set off a media maelstrom. It began on April 19, 2015, with a leaked copy of the book going to the New York Times. The copy was not sent by me or my publisher. If the Clintons leaked the book with the hope of having it prematurely dismissed, that proved to be a mistake. Things got worse for the Clintons a few days later when two New York Times Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporters, Jo Becker and Mike McIntire, took two of the most explosive chapters in the book and did their own digging. What they found confirmed what I had reported. They ran a 3,000-word, front-page article in the paper confirming that:
–Bill and Hillary Clinton had helped a Canadian financier named Frank Giustra and a small Canadian company obtain a lucrative uranium mining concession from the dictator in Kazakhstan;
–The same Canadian company, renamed Uranium One, bought uranium concessions in the United States;
–The Russian government came calling and sought to buy that Canadian company for a price that would mean big profits for the Canadian investors;
–For the Russians to buy that Canadian company, it would require the approval of the Obama administration, including Hillary’s State Department, because uranium is a strategically important commodity;
–Nine shareholders in Uranium One just happened to provide more than $145 million in donations to the Clinton Foundation in the run-up to State Department approval;
–Some of the donations, including those from the Chairman of Uranium One, Ian Teler, were kept secret, even though the Clintons promised to disclose all donations;
–Hillary’s State Department approved the deal;
–The Russian government now owns 20 percent of U.S. uranium assets.
In short, here was what you might call a radioactive scandal. It included secret donations, the Russian government, foreign financiers, more than $145 million, and Bill and Hillary Clinton. And this was just two chapters of the book.

The Mysterious Case Of Dubai's Disappearing Gold

On 26 December 2015, we reported the strange case of Dubai's disappearing gold, an long established gold many other nations that have taken advantage of this smuggling ring involving Turkey, Iran, and Dubai (as well as many other nations that have taken advantage of this very convenient arrangement to circumvent trade sanctions) which reveals that corruption in the global trade network reaches right to the top of the pyramid. The involvement of President Erdogan and members of his family in NATO member Turkey in illegal oil trades with ISIS has already been exposed as has Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the son of the ruler of Abu Dhabi and one of the world's richest people. The gold handled by the ring runs to a value of billions of dollars.

The story came to light when previously unknown Dubai gold trading house, Gold.AE suddenly announced it was going out of business. This news sparked wide interest in Gold AE and it was discovered the trader had been the middle man through which Turkish physical gold was moved "legally" to Dubai, from where it travelled on to Iran (after Dubai 'investors' had pocketed millions in fees and commissions, as payment for sanctions busting trades.

Gold.AE - a subsidiary of Gold Holding, the largest gold-focused investment holding company headquartered in Dubai. announced it had suddenly and unexpectedly gone out of business, after an inquiry by minority shareholders revealed that "there had been substantial financial transfers from the company's account to the personal accounts of senior management and majority shareholders."

In a nutshell, the company which had been used as the front for a multi billion dollar sanctions busting operation over many years was insolvent having been thoroughly plundered of most of its holdings. Client accounts had of course been stripped bare.

A press release from Dubai's financial regulator stated:

In order to try and secure/recover monies that had been taken out of the accounts of the company, Mr. Gauthier in his capacity as manager has filed various cases as against the recipients of the funds from the Company (Dubai Police ( Bur Dubai Police Station), Case No: 24378). The minority shareholders are doing everything within their powers to support him in his efforts to recover these monies that were withdrawn from Gold AE in questionable circumstances.

DMCC has alleged that some of these activities undertaken by the previous management are in breach of DMCC's rules and as such they have taken the decision to terminate the license of the Company. We are working closely with DMCC to find a solution and in the meanwhile, we request that you bear with us. In the meanwhile, as a statutory consequence of the license being terminated, the trading platform of the Company has to shut down as of the date of termination of the license which is 24th November 2015.

However, since as Gold.AE admitted a Swiss bank account had been uncovered, it is very unlikely that any of the funds involved will be recovered. The Mr. Gauthier referred to is the former CEO of Godld AE, the makor shareholders of which included SBK Business Holding www.sbkholding.com; Sheik Sultan Bin Khalifa bin sultan Al-nahyan; Sheik Malek Hmood Alsabah; Abu-alhaj Holding; Aruntani Sac.

Now that the respectable gold-trading company at the centre of what was probably the world's biggest and most successful smuggling operation since the pirate Blackbeard ruled the Spanish Main has vaporised tons of physical gold and unknown amounts of client cash, even more questions arise about the stability of the global economy and the integrity of those who run it.

Some answers can be found at the Arabian Business website, which has jumped on the case and reports it is understood the previous management team were replaced in March, resulting in the appointment of Andres Gauthier as CEO (sic) and Mohammed Nico Consari as managing director.

Why the previous management team was replaced, or why it took nearly 9 months for an update to clients to be issued is not explained. When the information was release to clients however the notification made brutally clear that no money remained in the gold trading operation.

And now comes the whitewash which will ensure any link between the criminal Gold.AE and its parent, SBK Holdings-owned Gold Holdings is immediately erased. A spokesperson for the Dubai International finacial Centre (DIFC) has already said:

"We wish to make it clear that although Gold AE is a subsidiary of M/s Gold Holding, which is a DIFC-based holding company, Gold AE and M/s Gold Holding Ltd are two separate entities.

"We wish also to clarify that M/s Gold Holding Ltd is, to our knowledge, not involved in any trading operations, client-facing business affecting clients of Gold AE or the provision of any financial services. Accordingly, it is not regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority."

Why the scramble to exonerate Gold Holding Ltd? Because as we reported yesterday, it is owned by this man: Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sultan is the advisor to the President of UAE, the eldest son of Emir Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Abu Dhabi. Sultan may just be most important young person in Dubai, which makes him among the top 20 most important, not to mention wealthiest, in the world. It would not be good for his reputation if it emerged that not only is one of his companies involved in a huge gold smuggling scandal, but that the aforementioned company vanished in a puff of greasy, smelly, brown smoke after an unprecedented case of management fraud was exposed.
