The hounding of Boris Johnson from parliament, mainly by members of his own party was not much of a surprise. Boris was always something of a maverick, occasionally brilliant but more often a dickhead, but one thing he possessed which was always going to make him unacceptable to the cosy cabal of mediocre MPs (of all parties,) and senior Snivel Servants who really run our country though few people know their names, was that the former Prime Minister had a personality.
Such things are simply unacceptable in an age of mediocrity to those who rely on adherence to process and procedure and abhor individualism, creativity andcharisma. And a sizable contingent of that group in Westminster were Conservative parlaimentarians. Even though Boris had led their perty to a resounding election victory in the 2019 General Election too many people in the conservative party could not forgive Boris for supporting the 'Leave' campaign, some even accused him of leading the successful Brexit campaign, though the de facto leaders was another maverick, Nigel Farage.
Unfortunately Farage was out of reach those who could never bring themselves to accept Brexit:
Conservative as well as Opposition MPs, broadcasters, columnists and,
not least, many senior civil servants. Against this motley crew of grandees,
Boris for a while had his mandate. Many Tories knew that people who
would never vote “for the Conservatives” had been happy to vote “for
Boris”.
But, when the pandemic hit, the mood changed. A frightened
country was in no mood for jokes, and the qualities that had attracted
people to Johnson in the first place – his cheerfulness, his ability to
laugh at himself, his optimism – began to grate. Boris was suddenly
stranded as a Falstaff in a nation populated by puritans.
As
the lockdown dragged on, fear gave way to resentment. Even those who had
demanded the toughest restrictions began to chafe at their
consequences and looked for someone to blame. It was Johnson’s supreme
misfortune to come shambling into their line of sight at this precise
moment, accused of breaking the rules that he had imposed on everyone
else. The PM, it seemed, had been partying while his rules had forced
families apart and kept people from dying loved ones.
This was unfair because while Boris and co. had been eating cake in the Downing Street garden, Labour leader Kier SStarmer had been enjoying beer and curry out of the public eye in the north.
Such was the
mood that reasoned discussion became impossible. No one wanted
to hear that an office break with colleagues was not, in any normal
sense of the word, a party.
No one wanted to be reminded that other key workers had posted cheerful
dance videos on Tik Tok. No one wanted to be told that JohnsoThe people did not want reason and logicn, too, had gone
unvisited in hospital, and that he had been prevented from seeing his
own mother, who died not long afterwards – that he had, in fact, obeyed
the same rules as the rest of us.
And while millions were happy to believe that everything would be wonderful again once the wicked Tories were out and Labour were back in power.
Nobody wanted to be reminded that by way of opposing Boris and his government, Labour had not only supported lockdowns, mask mandates, vaccine propaganda, ridiculous regulations and draconian punishments for people who breached the new rules but had demanded even stronger measures on all of them. The mob wanted a sin-eater, a scapegoat. And Boris possessing the only personality in the entire tribe had nowhere to hide.
So while the nation grappled with a war, an energy crisis, cost - of - living crisis, immigration crisis, housing crisis, energy crisis, and a crisis of confidence, we sacked the one man who showed any sign that he might be able to pull our increasingly divided nation together, because of a birthday cake?
A
thought to ponder, this pleasant Sunday afternoon: How does Johnson's
departure as an MP affect our support for Ukraine in its unwinnable war with Russia?
As
we know, Bozo was four-square behind it, turning up in Kiev with armfuls of weapons and pockets stuffed with cash, and if there was any
danger of peace talks breaking out our illustrious PM was straight on
the phone to warn off potential peace-brokers. When he stepped down
(aka was forced out) as PM he lost a lot of his power. I don't think he
went to Kiev as an ordinary MP, probably because he wouldn't have
received the adulation he craves because he wouldn't have had the
largesse to distribute. I know he went to America to try to stiffen the
sinews for the war over there (which begs the question of why he felt
they needed their sinews stiffening - had he detected a faltering in US
determination over Ukraine?).
He's now not even an MP. He's just
Mr Johnson. No power, no authority. Few people on the international
stage will listen to him. He won't be around the Houses of Parliament,
chatting to people in the corridors and tea rooms.
So, has Bozo's departure caused a deepening of
the gloom in Kiev and a corresponding increase in cheer in the Kremlin,? With signs that America's support for Zelensky weakening as U. S. taxpayers wonder what return the might get on the $$$billions already flushed or yet to be flushed down that toilet or do both sides regard it as an irrelevance?

As a long term follower of the news and views available in the counter culture that is alt_media I have been puzzled this weekend by all the supposedly anti - establishment writers and commenters to the effect that “Saint Boris was ousted unfairly, what an assault on democracy!!!!”
Let's be honest, Boris Johnson, a maverick only in the sense that he has a personality in a business that for many years has frowned on such things and rewarded only the obedient conformists who loyally toe the party line. Apart from that the former UK Prime Minister is as establishment as anyone could be. So establishment in fact that like members of the privileged classes throughout history he is happy to support laws that restricr individual freedoms but does not understand that in a democratic system those laws apply to him and his ilk as much as they do to anybody else.
Boris has not been the victim of some kind of coup or conspiracy, by being hounded out of parliament now, less than a year after he was forced to resign as Prime Minister he is simply being made to face some of the consequences of his own actions. But in classic Boris style, he has still not acknowledged that he made mistakes (big ones,) or admitted to any wrongdoing at all.
Though a brilliant campaigner and politician whose presence at the forefront of the 2019 election campaign was largely responsible for their emphatic victory, he was clearly not fit to fulfill the role of Prime Minister. However many people voted Conservative because they likes him as a television personality. But he is an entertainer rather than a statesman.
But having been Prime Minister for only a few months, in early 2020 he was closest thing we had to a leading politician resisting calls for lockdown. He really didn’t want to do it, but his hands were forced by a relentless propaganda assault waged academics, The British Medical Association (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Big Pharma cartel, the media and politicians of both his own and opposition parties. This is perhaps one reason why even the lockdown sceptics are sorry he’s “gone”?
The status quo is called “democracy”, but I struggle to understand how politicians such as Tony Blair, Joe Biden, Boris and Trump, having been “fairly and democratically elected” to lead their respective legislative bodies, are allowed to carry out their ruinous business and blatant crimes with total impunity, total lack of accountability, and, it seems total immunity from prosecution. (Yes, Saint Boris got a fine for attending a party or two, but what is £50 to a wealthy buffoon?
Surely lying to the Queen and to Parliament should carry a much heavier penalty? The general public can be sent to prison for lying about far less, such as who was driving a speeding car.) Both clearly cared about nobody but themselves, such was obvious before they were elected. Both have now made themselves incredibly rich, off the taxpayer. (I suppose many politicians do, but we don’t hear about the others.)
But it was such behaviour that demonstrated an inability to lead as a head of government. He just wasn’t a very Prime Minister because he could't stop being a politician. He was a good opinion influencer and his charm and wit made him popular in the country, as a journalist he is brilliant, but terrible as a statesman with executive controls, responsible for leading the herd of cats known as the British Parliament.
And also, because he himself was too often led by a certain below the waist part of his anatomy rather than his undoubtedly brilliant mind, he sought too much to please Carrie which led him to adopt the idiotic climate and energy policies favoured by those who confuse sentiment with intellect.
How is it democracy that there seems to be no checks and balances on them at all once they are in power? The fig leaf of democracy that we have is being able to choose between professional liars every few years. Blair was able to award himself a 50% pay rise when he was re-elected in 2001 (does anyone remember that?), and to take the country into his illegal war with seemingly no checks and balances, and as for the lockdown saga, it is clear that Saint Boris was not the one calling the shots; whoever really was doing it was unseen, unelected, unregulated, while Saint Boris recited the script put in front of him “no Prime Minister wants to do this, it is with a heavy heart, it would be inhumane to cancel Christmas – oh, I’ve just done it, significant normality by Easter, irreversible roadmap to freedom on 19th June which can be changed on a whim, blah blah blah…”
It seems that nobody was able to hold the government to account at all during lockdown. The “opposition” completely failed to voice a word of opposition, speaking only to say “we would have locked down earlier, harder, longer”. It is now emerging that the government was actively suppressing “lockdown dissent” – this news does not surprise me at all.
And all this is “democracy”, and people are screaming about somebody who cannot tell the difference between himself and God being “unfairly ousted”?
The noble way to have brought Boris down would have been an about turn by Conservative poarty grandees on the whole “pandemic” debacle, with an honest reckoning on all the immense failings of both government and the institutions that propped up the authoritarian nonsense. Yes, there is the danger that the opprobrium of the lockdown zealots gains control of the narrative, i.e. Boris needs to be punished not for his hypocrisy and his actions belying the massive charades that NPIs were, but because he was genuinely putting people’s lives at risk: but it’s up to commentators on our side to take that position on rather using Boris’s downfall as a way of highlighting a completely different concern, that this is some kind of remainer’s remerge plot, etc. Let’s not muddy the waters: Boris was undone by matters related entirely to his lockdown policies; so let’s focus on that alone to keep everyone’s sights on a single episode of arrogant irresponsibility involving a birthday cake.
