Sweden Gets Populist-Conservative-Liberal Coalition Government: Moderate Leader Elected PM

Following the general election in September this year, the decades long domination of the centre left Social Democrats has been broken by a centre right coalition. Sweden now has a new conservative coalition Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, leader of the Moderate Party who was elected by the country’s parliament as PM after a coalition agreement between the centre-right parties was reached last week.

However Kristersson's Moderates are not the largest party in the coalition, that distinction goes to the right wing Sweden Democrats, the Eurosceptic, anti - immigration party that was kept out of the governing coalition following the last election by pressure from Brussels. This outside meddling in Swedish domestic affairs resulted in the country being governed by a minority government, a loose coalition of left, far left, extreme left and ecoloony parties. 

Kristersson became Sweden’s new Prime Minister on Monday by a vote of 176 to 173 with no abstentions and is expected to present his new government on Tuesday. The election of Kristersson comes despite his centre-right party placing third behind the populist Sweden Democrats in last month’s election. As the Sweden Democrats have been demonised by the establishment, the European Union and mainstream media as a far right party with neo - Nazi leanings it was felt that pushing the SD leader Per Jimmie Åkesson for Prime Minister might lead to confrontation with the EU.

“It feels big. I’m grateful. I am happy about the confidence I have received from the Riksdag but also visibly humbled by the tasks that lie ahead,” Kristersson said following his election.

The election of Prime Minister Kristersson comes after the coalition of the Moderates, the Sweden Democrats, the Christian Democrats, and the Liberals reached a governing agreement known as the Tidö agreement last week, broadcaster SVT reports.

 

The new government will set about implementing reforms in immigration law and the unquestioned admittance of 'asylum seekers, most of who are economic migrants with no chance of entering the country legally, and seek to withdraw residency permits and deport people involved in criminal organisations or terrorist linked groups. They will also tighten the rules around the granting of Swedish citizenship.

Another area to be addressed urgently relates to problems caused by immigration of unskilled, illiterate labourers who cannot learn Swedish, refuse to assimilate and claim they are not subject to Swedish law because their religious law is supreme. The government will also launch an investigation into whether new migrants to Sweden should automatically be granted social benefits.

On crime, the Kristersson government will look to double the sentences for crimes linked to criminal gangs and look into deporting gang criminals without Swedish citizenship even if they have not been convicted of crimes.

A ban on living in certain areas will also be proposed for those convicted of crimes relating to gang activity, honour crimes, domestic violence, sexual offences and extremism.

The new proposals come as Sweden, which over the past decade has witnessed an explosion in rape and sexual assault, 90% of which offences are perpetrated by immigrants against ethnic Swedes,  has also endured its worst-ever year for fatal gun violence in 2022 (with two m onths of the year still to run,) the previous fatal shooting record being broken in August. The majority of the cases are linked to criminal gang activity, with many of the gang criminals coming from migrant backgrounds.

Sweden’s National Police Chief Anders Thornberg admitted in January of this year that migration and integration failures have contributed to the issue of violent criminal gangs. In the past socialist governments have ordered law enforcement departments and the justice system to back off prosecuting immigrants in order to avoid creating racial tensions.

Sweden to end months without a government

Since the inconclusive election in September 2018, in an example of the pro EU, globalist political establishment showing contempt for the democratically expressed wishes of the people, Sweden has been without an effective government as establishment parties, supported by mainstream media and the EU conspired to deny the Eurosceptic Sweden Democrats the share of power they had earned at the election. With all parties refusing to work with the Sweden Democrats (often called a far right party although the only policy they are to the right of the socialists on is mass immigration,) Social Democrat PM Stefan Lofven is set to retain his post by promising to move his party, the Social Democrats, to the right.

Socialist extremists The Left Party on Wednesday and allow Prime Minister Stefan Lofven to take a second term in office. The Left party said it would abstain in a crucial vote on Friday, clearing the way for Lofven and his patchwork coalition.

Lofven, leader of the Social Democrats, has been leading a caretaker government since elections on September 9 left neither the 'centre right' not the 'centre left' bloc able to form a government. Although the Social Democrats won the most votes, their 31.1% support left them too far off the numbers they needed to form a coalition with The Greens and other left groups in a country with eight mainstream parties and proportional representation. The right bloc could have formed a coalition but the smug, self - righteous Christian Democrats would not accept the participation of the Sweden Democrats. The obvious answer was a rerun of the general election but with all the signs showing the Sweden Democrats and their only allies The Moderates looking set to make more gains, the establishment parties wrre willing to do anything except that.

These problems were compounded by the fact that the thing Swedes fear more than a face to face confrontation with an Enochian demon or one of Daenerys Targaryen's Dragons from Game of Thrones is being accused of racism. most other parties wanted to govern without the support of the Left and the far-right Sweden Democrats. With the Left party, (never referred to as far - left though they are militant Maoists, far more extreme than the Sweden Democrats,) also being unacceptable coalition partners to the left bloc this left both sides unable to command a majority.

After four months of negotiations the Social Democrats have finally managed to cobble together an bodged up coalition of the left and right wing (similar to Merkel's dysfunctional coalition in Germany,) by gaining the support of the Greens, Liberals, and the Center party. In doing so, however, Lofven has had to promise to take his traditional center-left party to the right. A shift to the right in Swedish politics has been inevitable for years as loonytoons, politically correct government has reduced the country to near - failed - state chaos.

"Sweden needs a government," said Lofven, adding that he was "humbled to have been nominated" for Friday's vote.

With the Left party abstaining from the vote, Lofven is pretty much guaranteed success. However, the leftists have warned that they would vote down the new government if the prime minister went forward with reforms on the labor law and rent hikes for newly-built homes so the future for Lofven's desperate big to cling to power looks bleak as the far left can bring down his government any time he does something that offends their extremist sensibilities.

“I’m, Nationalist Not Racist, Voter Says As Sweden Faces A Historic Election Upset

The Daily Stirrer and our blogs have regularly reported the descent of Sweden's cities, one among the safest in the world, into lawless frontier towns where large areas are controlled by gangsters, because of ruling elite, blinkered by politically correct thinking and an addiction to virtue signalling have ignored clear evidence that their ridiculously lax immigration policy was importing third world problems into their liberal, tolerant society.

Now Sweden is sliding towards civil disorder as the authorities refuse to change tack and try to pretend the problems do not exist and vast numbers of uneducated, ignorant, religiously faniatical and totally unemployable migrants put impossible burdens on social, law enforcement and welfare agencies.

“Trains and hospitals don’t work, but immigration continues,” complain Roger Mathson, a retired vegetable oil factory worker in Sweden, when questioned by Bloomberg on the same day as a violent, coordinated rampage by masked gangs of youths across five Swedish cities caused $€£millionsworth of damage to cars and property

We reported previously that with a national election imminent, Swedish politicians were quick to react with anti-immigrant party 'Sweden Democrats' seeing a surge in the polls ahead of the September 9th election.

“I’m not a racist, but I’m a nationalist,” Mathson said. “I don’t like seeing the town square full of Niqab-clad ladies and people fighting with each other.”

He had a valid point, much of the violence on the streets of Swedish cities is a result of clturf wars between gangs from rival immigrant communities.

Because of widespread dissatisfaction with the Government response to problems caused by the mostly Muslim immigrants Sweden could be set to have its own political earthquake in September, similar to the one in Italy which rocked the EU establishment to its foundations. A big swing to the right in the general election could end a century of Social Democratic dominance and bring to power a little known (on the world stage), but the now hugely popular nationalist party often dubbed far-right and right-wing populist, called Sweden Democrats?

Sweden, a traditionally a largely homogeneous nation of 10 million, took in an astounding 600,000 legal refugees over the past five years, while thanks to the open doors immigration policy nobody knows how many are in the country illegally. After Swedes across various cities looked out their windows Tuesday to see cars exploding, smoke filling the skies, and possibly armed masked men hurling explosives around busy parking lots, it appears they've had enough.

Over the past years of the Sweden Democrats rise as a major force in Swedish politics, the country's media have labelled the Sweden Democrats as "racists" and "Nazis" due to their focus on anti-immigration and strong Euroscepticism. This is completely wrong but typical of globalist dominated mainstream media in western Europe and North America. Wanting to control immigration, limit numbers of new arrivals, check on willingness to at least tolerate the values and traditions of the host nation and obey its laws is not racist.

A poll at the start of this week, following a massive smear campaign by government and media, and some belated and probably hypocritical tough talking on immigration from other political parties, suggested the Sweden Democrats had fallen back to third place after topping three previous polls as the September election nears; however, Tuesday's national crisis and what could legitimately be dubbed a serious domestic terror threat is likely to boost their popularity.

Bloomberg's profile of their leader, Jimmie Akesson (above right), echoes the tone of establishment Swedish media in the way they commonly cast the movement, beginning as follows:

The Sweden Democrats have been led since 2005 by a clean-cut and bespectacled man, Jimmie Akesson. He’s gentrified a party that traces its roots back to the country’s neo-Nazi, white supremacist fringe. Some polls now show the group may become the biggest in Sweden’s parliament after general elections on Sept. 9. Such an outcome would end 100 years of Social Democratic dominance.

The group's popularity began surging after the 2015 immigration crisis began, which first hit Europe's southern Mediterranean shores and quickly moved northward as shocking wave after wave of migrants came.

Akesson emphasizes something akin to a "Sweden-first" platform which European media often compares to Trump's "America First"; and the party has been accused of preaching forced assimilation into Swedish culture to be become a citizen. Little mention is made of the fact that some of the SDs political rivals have been urging Swedes to accept Sharia Law in order to satisfy the demands of radical Muslim preachers.

Bloomberg's report sampled opinions at a large SD rally held in Akkeson's hometown of Solvesborg, and many of the statements reflect increasingly common sentiment after this week's coordinated multi-city attack:

At his party’s festival, Akesson revved up the crowd by slamming the establishment’s failures, calling the last two governments the worst in Swedish history. T-shirts calling for a Swexit, or an exit from the EU, were exchanged as bands played nationalist tunes.

Ted Lorentsson, a retiree from the island of Tjorn, said he’s an enthusiastic backer of the Sweden Democrats. “I think they want to improve elderly care, health care, child care,” he said. “Bring back the old Sweden.” But he also acknowledges his view has led to disagreement within his family as his daughter recoils at what she feels is the “Hitler”-like rhetoric.

No doubt, the media and Eurocrats in Brussels will take simple, innocent statements from elderly retirees like "bring back the old Sweden" as nothing short of declaration of a race war just as they did in an effort to influence Italy's election result, but such views will only solidify after this week.

Another Sweden Democrat supporter, a 60-year old woman who works at a distillery, told Bloomberg, “I think you need to start seeing the whole picture in Sweden and save the original Swedish population,” she said. “I’m not racist, because I’m a realist.”

Sweden's two biggest parties, the Social Democrats and Moderates, are now under serious pressure as Swedes increasingly worry about issues like immigration, law and order, and health care - seen as under threat by a mass influx of immigrants that the system can't handle.

Bloomberg explains further:

But even young voters are turning their backs on the establishment. One potential SD supporter is law student Oscar Persson. Though he hasn’t yet decided how he’ll vote, he says it’s time for the mainstream parties to stop treating the Sweden Democrats like a pariah. “This game they are playing now, where the other parties don’t want to talk to them but still want their support, is something I don’t really understand,” he said.

Akesson has managed to entice voters from both sides of the political spectrum with a message of more welfare, lower taxes and savings based on immigration cuts.

With many Swedes now saying immigration has “gone too far” and as this week's events have once again thrust the issue before both a national and global audience, the next round of polling will mostly like put Sweden's conservative-right movements on top.

The Anger Of The Masses Is Rising

Disenchantment with the status quo and disgust with the corrupt elites, corporate cronyism and politically correct authoritarianism has not only triggered a surge of anti establishment, anti - globalist anger across Europe, as has been demonstrated (and further fuelled by) the establishment stitch ups and election rigging that have kept Front National in France, The Danish People's Party, UKIP in Britain, Germany's AFD, The Sweden Democrats and most recently the Austrian Freedom Party rightful and well earned success in elections, and kept anti EU-federalisation politicians chosen by the people from fulfilling the roles they were elected to. The same broad-based anger has fuelled the populist campaigns of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump in the campaigns for the Democratic and Republican Party nominations in the U.S. Presidential Election.

Globally, the people disenfranchised by the status quo, in Peggy Noonan's phrase, the unprotected, people like myself for example, for many years a supporter of the UK's Liberal Party (when it knew what 'liberal' meant), I have always lived in either safe Conservative or Labour constituencies so under our first-past-the-post election system my vote has never been likely to elect a candidate I wanted to represent me. I now vote for UKIP, it is more a protest vote than from political conviction and also write blogs and contribute to online news and opinion sites. Others, in Britain, throughout Europe and in the USA, Canada and Aistralia are starting to express their discontent in the streets, in social media and in elections.

Why are the disenfranchised people around the world getting so angry. And why are there so many more of them that suspected? It's obvious to everyone in the unprivileged classes and a mystery to the "we're doing just fine here, what's your problem?" privileged classes: The system is rigged to benefit the elite few, say 5% of people (not necessarily based on earnings or personal wealth), and marginalize the many. For a long time people thought that was the way things were, unlike myself, many were happy to vote left or right on the basis of who they thought was the least bad. In recent years however, the few have become so blatant in their abuse of privilege and the gap between rich and poor has widened so much, hollowing out the middle income groups, the administrative and skilled worker groups, that something had to give.

The two structural engines of disorder at the heart of the system according to Charles Hugh Smith in his book Why Our Status Quo Failed and Is Beyond Reform, are:

Automation, software and the forces of globalization are disrupting jobs and wages everywhere.

Centralized hierarchies and the forces of globalisation have extended the power of privilege globally so the few are benefiting at the expense of the many.

The growing concentration of wealth and power in the privileged elites is evidenced by the fact that 8% of the world's populace owns 85% of its wealth. What is driving this increasing concentration of wealth and power?

To understand growing disparity between rich and poor and the increasing concentration of wealth in the hands of the old elites and corporate powers we must first understand the dual nature of privilege. Just as there is hard power (military power) and soft power (exporting cultural wares and values) so there is hard and soft privilege. hard privilege is exercised by authoitarian governments that criminalise free speech and dissent and operate oppressive surveillance and policing policies.

Soft privilege operates by utilising the tyranny of weakness. "Oh but how can you not be moved by a picture of a beaten puppy on Facebook?" How can you be indifferent to a picture of a starving African child in a television charity appeal. How can you not support the right of big, hairy arsed blokes in frocks to go into the same toilet as little girls are using. What a cruel, heartless, brutal, racist, sexist, homophobic person you are. Do you recognise the technique?

Yes, perfectly rational and acceptable reactions are branded extreme because they do not conform to what the elites have decreed you ought to think And few people are eager to stand aside from the crowd and exercise their right to be individuals. No, you do not have to care about abused puppies or starving children (there's probably nothing you can do about it, there will always be some people who abuse animals and we have been throwing money at Africa for fifty years but nothing has changed. As for the blokes in frocks, sorry guys it does not matter what you 'identify' as, or if you have your dick and balls cut off, if you never had a womb and ovaries you cannot possibly be a woman. If you can't get your head round that, you're very sick.

Privilege serves exactly the same purpose as power, benefiting the few at the expense of the many regardless of the system's ideological labels. Socialist, Communist and free-market capitalist regimes all throw up oligarchical elites that loot the system and plunder the national assets that should benefit the populaces. Those who came to do good and stayed to do well as the saying goes, must first gather privileges before they can acquire wealth and power.

The grievances of Chinese workers robbed of their wages, Greek small-business owners burdened by ever-rising taxes and EU imposed austerity measures, downsized corporate warriors in the U.S.A and redundant industrial workers in Britain and France may appear to be different, but in reality their grievances all arise from one source: unearned privileges that benefit the few at the expense of the many.
