Macrons France On The Brink As Block Everything Protestors Clash With Riot Police

Sourced fom France24 tv news, 11 September 2025

Riot Police clashed with 'Block Everything' protestors in cities across France today as an anti-government campaign of strikes and disruption swept the nation, aimed at forcing deeply unpopular president Emmanuel Macron to resign and call a general election.

More than 250 people were arrested by midday on Wednesday (10 September,), many of them around the Gare du Nord Eurostar hub in Paris.Riot control squads used tear gas as they fought runningbattles with mobs.

Group of activists blocked different sections of the Paris ring road, while secondary schools and bus stations also had barricades placed in front of them. In Lyon, officers used tear gas on around 100 demonstrators trying to bring rail traffic to a halt at the city’s Perrache station. The A10 motorway was briefly blocked near Poitiers in the centre of the country.

In the southern city of Montpellier, barricades were also erected in front of the city’s Paul Sabatier University.

The insurrection came less than 24-hours after President Emmanuel Macron appointed his seventh prime minister in less than nine years.

Sebastien Lecornu has pledged to do a better job than his immediate predecessor, Francois Bayrou, who was forced out by losing a self-imposed confidence vote in the French parliament. The anarchy that has followed is par for the course in France.

It seems however that the people of France simply do not believe him.

The protestors' rallying cry was “Block Everything”, and they are certainly trying. All across Paris, all across France, groups of young protesters who found one another through social media gathered at critical points of the nation’s roads and infrastructure, setting up makeshift barriers and putting their bodies in the way of traffic to protest years of austerity measures imposed by French President Emmanuel Macron and his successive globalist administrations. It is possible France's problems are part of an even bigger backlash against the globalist agenda which imposes policies such as 'open borders' and 'net zero.'

At each strategic point the protestors were met by rank upon rank of heavily armed and armoured police who drove them from the streets with clubs, tear gas and flash balls. Right-wing Minister for Interion Affairs, Bruno Retailleau, now on the way out after the fall of François Bayrou’s government on Monday had warned the nation’s prefectures that there were likely to be at least 100,000 protesters across the country. To match their numbers, he assured them, he would be mobilising some 80,000 law enforcement officials across France.

In Paris, the result was a day-long, shifting pursuit spanning swaths of the city. Police would break one blockade by force, scattering protesters into side streets who would then catch their breath, find their comrades and try again. Macron ‘doesn’t care about the French people’ At Porte de Bagnolet Marie, who holds a placard stating "Macron Does NotCare About The French People" is planning her next move.

The young professor says she came out with one aim in mind, to effect the fall of Prime Minister Lecornu and his government, before it’s even been put into place. “It’s important to take action right now,” she says, arguing that Macron’s decision to name long-time loyalist Sébastien Lecornu as France’s new prime minister last night showed that the president “didn’t care about the French people”.

“I think it's problematic to appoint someone from his own ranks, even before he has met with party leaders and the opposition, and seen what today's movement will bring,” she says. While the conservative-turned-centrist ally of Macron has promised a break from the policies of previous governments, critics of the decision say it sends a clear message that the struggling president will continue to push for the same policies that have already seen his last two appointments voted out of office. Lecornu’s appointment seems only to have strengthened the protesters’ resolve.

Throughout the day, messages hurtle back and forth in the Telegram groups that have been crucial to the movement’s momentum. Though there are echoes of the apolitical Yellow Vests movement a few years ago, Block Everything is more definitely a left leaning movement though more anarchic and nationalistic than the US Democrat, UK Labour Party or German SDP.

At Porte de Montreuil on the eastern edge of Paris a phalanx of riot shield-bearing police cordon off the block and  demonstrators begin to trickle north to Tenon Hospital, where healthcare workers have gone on strike to protest what they describe as chronic under-funding. The atmosphere here is joyous, and calmer; union reps and local left-wing politicians speak to the packed crowd before opening the mic to all comers. A brass band launches into a raucous cover of Rage Against the Machine’s "Killing in the Name Of", to wild applause.

Nicolas, a striking lab technician at the hospital, says that working conditions in public hospitals continue to deteriorate. “We’re changing prime ministers, but will this new prime minister be able to do any better? I don’t think so,” he says. “We’ve grown too used to budget cuts and bed closures. Today, behind each caregiver there’s a man or a woman at the end of their rope, who can’t take it anymore. Public hospitals have become an enormous psycho-social risk for the people who work there.”

After watching rolling news broadcasts of yesterday's and today's protests and getting a sense of the anger among French voters at the globalist government which has shown repeatedly that its priority is advancing the agenda of the World Economic Forum and is blind and deaf to the feelings of French citizens who see their culture being erased and their history rewritten, one is left with the feeling that M. Macron will not be president for much longer.

France's Yellow Vests protest movement, which featured regularly in our pages in 2018/19 are back. In truth they never went away, the movement which was formed initially to protest against rising fuel prices then expanded to become a general prostest movement against the rising cost of living and President Emmanuel Marcon's authoritarian style of governing never really went away. The movement has been opposing what they see as political, social and economic injustice as well as the governance of French President Emmanuel Macron, and police brutality for the past three years and have now added lockdowns, vaccine passports and mandatory vaccination to their list of grievances..

While the number of Yellow Vests activists taking to the streets of the French capital today has shrunk significantly since the movement started in November 2018, their protests (by groups of people without masks) have been held held on a regular basis throughout the pandemic

French Identitarian Activists Arrested Following ‘Defend Europe’ Mission

Génération Identitaire message for illegal immigrants
Generation Identitaire message for illegal immigrants trying to cross from Italy to France in the Alps.

When members of the French hipster-right anti-mass migration Génération Identitaire movement took part in a demonstration for French identity and culture late last year, (the so called “Defend Europe” mission along the French-Italian border) they thought they were exercising their right to peaceful protest. So it was a surprise when several were arrested this week.
The activists arrested Tuesday morning in Lyon included the group’s spokesman Romain Espino. Prosecutors later said their arrests were in connection with the Defend Europe mission last year in the Col de l’Echelle area, according to a report in L’Express..
Génération Identitaire activist Anaïs Lignier was among those arrested even though she is eight months pregnant. In a press statement from the group she announced: “This morning, along with two other Génération Identitaire members, I was placed in police custody on the order of the Gap prosecutor, for the absurd motive of ‘interference in public service,’” Ms Lignier said.
“In particular, we built a symbolic border at the Col de l’Echelle and flew over the area with helicopters. In fact, Emmanuel Macron’s government never forgave us for humiliating him on the 21st of April, when we forced him to send police and gendarmerie reinforcements to secure the Franco-Italian border,” she added.
Lignier also attacked the French authorities for waiting so long to act against the protestors, who never made a secret of who they were, saying, “the justice system, at the behest of the authorities in Paris, tries to take us down by all means, including the most fanciful on the legal level. The fact that I already have a family responsibility and that I am 8 months pregnant did not prevent the prosecutor’s office from putting me in custody.”
The activist also claimed that police were less interested in the Defend Europe mission and more curious about the group’s inner workings as well as connections to political parties and others. That sounds as if the idiot Macron is looking for excuses to ban Marine Le Pen’s Rassemblement national ahead of elections to the European Parliament. If he’s stupid enough to do that, and his track record suggests he is, there will be civil war.
The action against Génération Identitaire was clearly taken a political basis. Lignier said group members exercised their right to silence and added that the group would not be intimidated and would continue to defend French culture and nationhood in spite of the arrests. “We will always remain at the forefront of the defence of our people and our civilisation,” she said.
Our correspondent in the area, (the editor’s daughter,) recalls the incident hardly caused a ripple in the french mainstream media pool at te time. Since then of course, due to the continuing Yellow Vests protests, the Macron regime has taken a much more authoritarian line against protestors and shown it is prepared to trample civil rights in order to silence criticism of its failed policies.
