Last summer I had a bit of a kerfuffle here with someone who tried to give himself authority by mentioning that he worked in a university. Well lots of people work in universities of course, janiors, mainteance staff, gardeners, porters, catering people and so on.

Given the knack this guy possessed for being wrong about everything he could have been a lecturer, or even a Professor, he was certainly crazy enough.

What I had done to piss him off was see the brewing Black Sea crisis from a Russian point of view rather than simply parroting the White House / Whitehall / NATO propaganda demonising Putin and Russia and claiming Russia was isolated in the international community and the leaders of all other nations were queuing up to have their cock's sucked by the Rent Boy President Barack Husein Obama.

It wasn't true then and it is less true now. While it might seem obvious to note that Angela Merkel has chosen to pass on that dubious privilege, the absence of China, Iran and half the African nations from the Obama fan club is also signigicant.

Since the election of Syriza last week Greece has pivoted towards Russia, Egypt, Turkey, India and Brazil have all been cuddling the bear too.

Isolated, I think not. In fact it seems our friend from Dumedown University is the last one to wake up to the fact that Obama's US Administration is the real warmonger, the aggressor state, the power that likes to meddle in the domestic politics of small nations.

And now we see France and Germany openly dismissive of Obama's eagerness to arm the neo Nazi thugs who were shoehorned into power in Ukraine after last years CIA engineered coup.

Well here's something to help him get a better grip on reality.

Following yesterday's summary of the utter farce that the Minsk Summit/Ukraine "peace" deal talks have become, the various parties involved appear to be fracturing even faster today. The headlines are coming thick and fast but most prescient appears to be: Despite John Kerry's denial of any split between Germany and US over arms deliveries to Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Steinmeier slammed Washington's strategy for being "not just risky but counterproductive."

But perhaps most significantly is France's continued apparent pivot towards Russia... Following Francois Hollande's calls for greater autonomy for Eastern Ukraine, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has come out in apparent support of Russia (and specifically against the US), "we are part of a common civilization with Russia,” adding, "the interests of the Americans with the Russians are not the interests of Europe and Russia."

Even NATO appears to have given up hope of peace as Stoltenberg's statements show little optimism and the decision by Cyprus to allow Russia to use its soil for military facilities suggests all is not at all well in the European 'union'.

With France pivoting and Merkel turning her back on Obama's arms-for-Ukraine proposals, perhaps Vladimir Putin can be forgiven for an impromptu exhibition of "jazz hands" at yesterday's Minsk Summit preparations...

Syriza Official Vows to Kill EU-US Trade Deal as 'Gift to All European People'

An official with Greece's newly elected Syriza party may have killed a proposed EU-U.S. trade deal that has faced opposition from civil society. The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), now facing its eighth round of talks between negotiators this week in Brussels. The TTIP, which would be the biggest trade deal ever, has been criticized as a corporate-friendly deal that threatens food and environmental safety under the guise of "harmonization" of regulations.

NIAME, Niger: Boko Haram fighters from Nigeria attacked Niamey, a border town inside the neighboring country of Niger, marking the third attack on a foreign country attacked by the Nigeria based Boko Haram group in several days. The Islamic extremists are also reported to have launched attacks in Camerooon and Benin.

The expansion of Boko Haram aggression came as regional leaders meet for a second day in the Cameroonian capital to discuss plans for a combined military response to the terrorist group already said to be responsible for killing 10,000 people in nigeria over the past year.

On Wednesday and Thursday, (4.5 Frebury 2015,) heavily armed Boko Haram fighters attacked a town in Cameroon, leaving nearly 100 people dead and some 500 others wounded, according to Cameroonian officials.

Reports from government officials in the border town of Bosso, Niger said Boko Haram militants attacked the community early Friday and that soldiers fought an hour-long battle with them that caused the Boko Haram members to withdraw, leaving the streets deserted.

“Niger and Chadian planes are conducting surveillance at the moment in town and troops on the ground are combing through the streets,” local official Abar Hassan told Associated Press.

After several of their combat groups were bombed as they approached Nigerian towns, hundreds of Boko Haram fighters responded by attacking Fotokol in Cameroon earlier in the week, burning churches and warning Nigeria’s neighbors not to help Nigeria oppose their insurgency.

Last week, African Union leaders authorized a 7,500-strong force to fight the extremists, including pledges of troops from Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin.

Rear Admiral Kubic (Ret.), a source for the interim report was quoted by the Times as saying. “Despite the willingness of both AFRICOM Commander Gen. Carter Ham and Muammar Qaddafi to pursue the possibility of truce talks, permission was not given to Gen. Ham from his chain of command in the Pentagon and the window of opportunity closed,” was quoted from Kubic’s statement. It is now known that the most likely obstruction of the peace bid was from the State Department and Secretary-of-State Clinton herself. “On the day the U.N. resolution was passed, Mrs. Clinton ordered a general within the Pentagon to refuse to take a call with Gadhafi’s son Seif and other high-level members within the regime, to help negotiate a resolution, the secret recordings reveal,” reported the WashingtonTimes on January 29.

In view of all that American voters need to look at the results of Mrs. Clinton's efforts, which have in three years turned Libya from the most prosperous nation on the African continent to a lawless failed state whose citizens live in dystopian chaos, and calculate the likely effects of her Presidency on the USA.

Google Driverless Car Project

Google have bought some real cars but there are still a few snags to be ironed out

Ok, we've been pretty scathing about the Google driverless car project, basing our view on the prototype Wankermobile revealed amid much hype and even more ROTFLOAO among people who drive proper cars. The future of personal transport was going to look like the kind of toy car that might be found in a Kinder egg if the publicity could be believed.

Since then Google backed off the idea that they were going to build their own 'mobility-scooter-with-a-roof' type vehicles and bought some proper cars from real car manufacturers to convert into computer driven models.

And now they are claiming to be on the verge of putting the first commercially viable self-driving car on the road again. And again the Search Engine company are not being entirely truthful, there are many problems to be resolved before Google computer driven car can take to the roads, and some of them could prove insurmountable.

Google's latest driverless car abandones the Wankermobile prototype (see end of article) in favour of putting electronic natigation and control systems in read cars.

We'll leave aside the practicalities like the technology not working in bad weather or the fact that computers have no way of interpreting meaning therefore the cameras, microphones and sensors that react to stimuli cannot tell if a sound is a police or ambulance siren or a domestic burglar alarm going off, not can they tell whether a police officer is waving them to slow down or a grandma is waving to her family as they walk away from her door.

Even the most advanced prototypes, and those developed by Mercedes and Toyota are way ahead of Google, are having a hard time interpreting emergency sirens. If they are ever to be allowed onto real streets, autonomous cars will need to be able to respond appropriately to police instructions or the needs of emergency service.

Those things can easily be dealt however with providing the world is prepared to adapt in order to accommodate Google. From our point of view the real driverless car killer will be insurance. Because the driverless cars are not truly driverless but rather are driven by machines, who will be responsible in the event of an accident. because despite Google's claims that their technology is infallible and will eliminate accidents, there will still be accidents.

There will always be accidents, that is why car insurance is mandatory.

Quite how insurance would work when cars have no human in control remains unclear. The question of who pays out in the event of a crash involving a driverless car is still being debated and is seen as a major barrier to letting them loose on highways. Would the car maker, the component manufacturer or the owner of the data centre that was providing mapping information be liable. Or would the person sitting in the car be held legally responsible for it even though they were not in control. I can't manufacturers or computer operators taking responsibility and holding humans responsible for cars they are not driving is not going to be a selling point.

Several problems that will arise if these vehicles ever become popular spring to mind. Radar is increasingly being used on cars, eventually cross interference will render them navigation systems unreliable. Likewise a street full of Lidar units all spinning laser beams across each other will interfere. Several friends still involved in the industry have worked with Lidar type units and can tell you they don't work when its raining or foggy.

Then there is the problem of perception. While science fanboys (and girls) will continue to wax lyrical about a future in which we are all slaves to machines (or in their language free to do kewel things like spending fortunes playing computer games with in-app billing on our iPhones)the majority have a more down to earth view of technology's potential and limitations.

If recent surveys are to be believed, driverless car developers have failed at the first hurdle as it seems much of the public would be reluctant to ride in one of the cars. Half of Britons responded that they would be unwilling passengers in driverless cars over safety concerns, with 16 per cent professing to feel 'horrified' by the notion of unmanned vehicles driving on British roads. Four in ten would not trust an autonomous car to drive safely, believing it would jeopardise the welfare of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, a survey from price comparison site uSwitch.com found.

Just like the reality of Google Glass (recently withdrawn from the marketplace) - and almost all Google's other great ideas that launch to enormous fanfare and then slip away into oblivion, people love to believe in the 'Google Geeks' beavering away at solving the world's problems in amazingly innovative ways (One geek cited Google Maps as an example but maps have been around for several thousand years and Google were not the first to put them online,)the reality is that Google is a one-trick-pony and not a very good trick at that.

It is a commercially successful search engine even if the results it produces are manipulation to deliver the most profitable links rather than the best quality information.

The real genius of Google is how it managed to monetise it's one trick - how much money it's managed to shake out of a world of consumers by telling them that the service is 'free' when it actually holds businesses to ransom by threatening deindex them if they don't cooperate. And of course, the costs of cooperating with Google are as always passed on to the consumer in the end.

These days Google sits on multi-billion dollar cash reserves generated by selling its shares to dupes rather than from trading profits. but with public outrage about the company's tax avoidance growing the directors worry about how to spend the money.

It is run by middle class white men who are obsessed with delivering solutions for which problems must be invented and that nobody other than geeks could give a flying fuck about.

This automated car is just another step in the direction of the one speed society - where everyone is dragged down to the level of the lowest common denominator, everyone holds the opinion of the stupidest and most sheep like and we all do as we are told.

Oh dear. What have I done, badmouthing Google, one of the Geek tribe's sacred cows? If The Daily Stirrer allowed comments, brainwashed trolls would be fighting each other to leave angry, rude, nonsensical abuse for anyone who refuses we will all be much happier when we surrender our individuality and let Google do our thinking for us.

You may recall Strauss Kahn was in the news at the time for allegedly raping a New York hotel chambermaid having mistakenly assumed all chambermaid are prostitutes and that particular one had been provided for him as part of the service.

Ah well, as Boggart Blog has said many times before, so long as We The Punters continue to let these elitist shits behave as if they are above the law, they will continue to imitate medieval robber barons. And as well as stuffing his own and his families pockets with taxpayers' money and availing himself of the generous expenses arrangements these people enjoy in order to indulge his bizarre sexual fantasies, Strauss Kahn had the audacity to feign injured innocence when he was caught.

The former future President Of France, who would surely have occupied The Elysee Palace now had he been able to keep his dick in is trousers is instead on trial. A trial, it has to be said that is turning into a Rabelaisian farce.

An incident that emerged in court today, during the testimony of hooker Sandrine Vandenschrik, who told police that she witnessed the incident involving Strauss Kahn and a number of naked women at a four star hotel. "I was shocked – I didn't want to get involved in this carnage,” she said.

Another witness also described a scene of "carnage with a heap of mattresses on the floor”, with Strauss Kahn in the height of "pure sexual consummation” with naked girls writhing all over his body.

Strauss Kahn, 65, is denying the allegations, claiming that he did not know the girls were prostitutes. "He really wants us to believe he's naive and takes us for idiots,” said Miss Vandenschrik.

The former politician has admitted to a huge sexual appetite and enjoying "libertine” parties, but denies knowing that the girls were prostitutes, arguing that it was impossible to know what the girls did for a living because they were all naked.

FFS, you've got to laugh at the audacity of these people. But satirical blogging is really dead, you just couldn't make this stuff up.

Will Spain Be The Next Nation To Rebel Against EU Austerity Measures

Tens Of Thousands Join Madrid Anti-Austerity Rally.

Spaniards took to the streets in Madrid on Saturday in support of new anti-austerity party Podemos, a week after Greece elected its hard-left ally Syriza. Tens of thousands of protestors chanting "Yes we can!" made their way from Madrid city hall to Puerta del Sol, the city's main square. Podemos and its anti-austerity message have been surging in polls ahead of elections later this year but have gained additional momentum following the victory of Greece's anti - austerity party.

"There are many people that agree with the need for change. Enough already with stealing - that the corrupt take everything and we can't do anything," Dori Sanchez, a 23-year-old unemployed teacher who came from Manovar in southeastern Spain told reporters after travelling north for the rally.

A Podemos press officer said 260 buses brought supporters to the capital from cities and towns around Spain to swell support for the "March for Change". Hundreds of locals volunteers offered accommodation to the travellers. Demonstrators carried banners that read "Universal Basic Income," "Tick, tock its time for change" and "Together we can".

Syriza beat mainstream Greek parties by pledging to end austerity, as Podemos aims to do in Spain's general election due in November. both might find it impossible to honour that pledge while remaining in the EU and the Eurozone, as their manifesto promises say they will. Podemos was formed just a year ago, but has surged in opinion polls with promises to fight what Iglesias calls the traditional "caste" of political leaders.

Like Syriza, Podemos has found popular support by targeting corruption and rejecting austerity programmes purportedly aimed at lifting the countries out of deep economic crisis but which are in reality much more likely to see the wealth gap between rich and poor widening.

Podemos has also found popularity among Spanish voters enraged by a string of corruption scandals, as well as public spending cuts imposed by the conservative ruling party and previously by the Socialists after the economic crisis erupted in 2008. Spain has now officially exited recession, the country grew by 1.4 percent last year according to provisional data released Friday but this is mostly due to printing money which devalues wages and savings. Nearly one in four workers are unemployed and the figure among the 18 - 24 age group is close to fifty per cent. Salaries for many people have dropped and the number of workers on low-paid short-term contracts or working part time has soared.

Spain's street protest movement has died down since 2013 after the government imposed draconian penalties on protestors but some of the leaders formed Podemos in January 2014. Four months later, the party won five seats in the European Parliament, with more than 1.2 million Spaniards voting for it.
Podemos has overtaken the mainstream opposition Socialist Party in several opinion polls, and in some has topped the list ahead of the conservative ruling People's Party (PP). The Socialists and the PP have ruled Spain alternately since the country returned to democracy after the death of the dictator Francisco Franco in 1975.

Greece's New Left Wing Government Gives EU The Finger

The new left-wing Greek government has said that it will not cooperate with the ‘troika’ of international lenders, and does not plan to seek an extension for its aid package which is set to expire at the end of February. Without further aid, Greek banks could face being shut off from European Central Bank funding.

“This position enabled us to win the trust of the Greek people,” Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said Friday during a joint press conference with Jeroen Dijsselbloem, head of the eurozone finance ministers’ group.

“Our first action as a government will not be to reject the rationale of questioning this program through a request to extend it,” Varoufakis said. “We respect institutions but we don’t plan to cooperate with that committee.”

The meeting between Varoufakis and Dijsselbloem is to lay the groundwork for visits by newly-elected Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the finance minister to London, Paris, and Rome next week. The new Greek leadership has voiced its intention to attempt to loosen the terms of the massive €240 billion (US$271 billion) bailout.

The new government has fueled panic among creditors and investors by promising to freeze privatizations and re-hire state workers, in addition to rolling back other reforms that were mandated by the bailout.

Meawhile the north of Europe is unsympathetic, thinking the Greeks spent all that money on luxuries, sex, drugs, and rock and roll, and thus they must repay the debt. However, a great deal of the money Greece borrowed went to border protection against the Turks. A lot more was soaked up by social policies imposed by the EU which Greece's economy was never going to be able to afford.

The resposibility lies on the ruling class, just as has happened in Spain. The international bankers and the EU used the same tactics that the USA used in Latin America. Get some crooked politicians on board and give them kickbacks to take huge loans so that the country will owe more than the GDP and then you own the country.

Bullying the Greeks now is a very aggressive move from the Troika and it is not something that We The Punters should allow to happen. The Greeks are right make a stand and people everywhere who believe in democracy should support them. Just because the Germany is richer than the whole of souther Europe put together it should not be aloowed to trample weaker nations under the heel of the jackboot.

Politicians like to talk about their successes in solving the problems that beset the nations that they purport to lead, unfortunately these problems are either invented by politicians or they are minor things that have been talked up to extreme levels.

 Global warming is a good example, even if the vastly overstated increase in global mean temperature during the latter part of the twentieth century was anything like accurate, a) it poses little risk to humanity and b) independent research (i.e. not sponsored by the big finance interests that hope to create a $1trillion per year market for trading carbon credits) suggests it is not being driven by Carbon Dioxide emissions from human activity but by natural causes.

Another problem created solely by political rhetoric so that politicians can make lots of noise and waste lots of taxpayers money in making a big show of trying to solve it is hunger. We are shown pictures of starving Africans and constantly harangued about the urgent need to accept Genetically Modified Organisms as our stale diet (which would deliver huge financial benefits to a few biotech companies) again the problem is vastly exaggerated. Governments in the developed world pay farmers to not grow food, the EU set aside policy being an example.  Farmers are paid to not grow beans or breed pigs, but are not allowed to use the land for anything else.

 In the 2010 UK General Election the issue none of the three main parties wanted to discuss, The Elephant In The Room, was immigration. Mass immigration from third world nations and eastern Europe caused huge social and infrastructure in British industrial communities, yet supporters of The Conservatives, Labour Party and Liberal Democrats were happy to dismiss anybody who tied to raise the issue as bigots and racists. This led to UKIP being transformed from a fringe, single issue party to contenders for a role in a ruling coalition after the 2015 election in May.

Immigration will feature heavily in the campaign and is becoming a major issue all over northern Europe, where political and academic elites have shown their contempt for ordinary citizens by pursuing policies which can only result in the destruction of national cultures. An aspect of this issue is the current Elephant In The Room, Islamic extremism. Thanks to the elites deliberately failing to enforce border controls and allowing religious extremists unrestricted access to the secular societies of Europe, whose liberal values the fanatics loathe and detest, we now have a problem of terror attacks against anyone deemed to have insulted Islam.

The response of the elites has so far been to restrict the civil rights, particularly the right of free speech, of their own citizens. As a result of that we are seeing liberal societies pushed towards civil unrest. The article from RINF linked below offers valuable insights into the problem.

The age of financial privacy is over

Yes you read that right. The fascist regime in the USA has usurped to itself the right to raid bank accounts anywhere is the world. At the moment they are only stealing money by way of tax demands from people who were born on US soil even if those people have not lived in the USA since childhood and have never be employed by a US business.
I have to wonder however, how long it will be before the rent - boy President is sending his racketeers after me, you see one of my Grandfathers was actually born in the USA so no doubt the Obama regime will be wanting me to contribute so he can offer more gifts and benisons to illegal immigrants, perverts, crooks, liars and workshy scroungers. Jonathan Weiss hasn’t lived in the US for 25 years. But that didn’t keep his foreign bank account from being frozen in the wake of new US tax laws. Find out how you can avoid the same fate at the hands of FATCA.
“I had been living in Switzerland for ten years, and then out of the blue I got a letter from my bank, saying that since I am an American citizen I had to file some extra paperwork,” Jonathan Weiss tells The Local. “Two weeks later my bank account was frozen.”
Weiss was born in the US, but has lived abroad since age ten, in both Asia and Europe.
“I was just living in Switzerland, working there, minding my own business,” Weiss recalls. “And then I was caught up this net. I had no idea what to do.”
That was his first encounter with the long arm of US tax law – FATCA.
If you’re an American living abroad, chances are you’ve heard of FATCA. And if you haven’t, you probably should have. Or there may be serious consequences.
“FATCA requires foreign banks to report information to the IRS regarding all financial accounts held by American clients,” Ines Zemelman, a tax agent specializing in expatriate taxes, tells The Local.
“The age of financial privacy is over.”
Over 100 nations have already agreed to provide the IRS with such information, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.
