Success in Syria Gives Putin The Advantage In Obama's Proxy War In Syria

This time last year, the Syrian military was in trouble, with thousands of ISIS insurrectionists advancing into areas of the country considered government strongholds. The rebel offensive was aided by powerful tank-destroying missiles supplied by the USA's Central Intelligence Agency and Saudi Arabia.

Intelligence briefings published in press releases to mainstream media in the USA and Europe condidently predicted (not for the first time since 2011) that Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, was facing defeat and was on the brink of fleeing the country.

Then Russia's Vladimir Putyin decided to take a hand. Aircrews and technical support staff arrived from Russia, the American's were warned not to get in the way, and Russia started to batter American-backed rebel forces with an air campaign that has forced them to retreat all the way to Libya (another country that benefitted from US intervention by being turned from Africa's most advanced and prosperous nation to a chaotic failed state, its infrastructure reduced to rubble by American, French and British bombs.

Now the rebels (Obama's 'moderate' extremists) are clinging to a few besieged neighborhoods in the divided city of Aleppo and say their shipments of CIA-provided antitank missiles are drying up.

For the first time since Afghanistan in the 1980s, the Russian military for the past year has been in direct combat with rebel forces trained and supplied by the C.I.A. The American-supplied Afghan fighters prevailed during that Cold War conflict. But this time the outcome has been different, primarily because Afghan tribesmen are in a different league as opponents. Their land has not been conquered since Alexander The Great withdrew.

“Russia has won the proxy war, at least for now,” said Michael Kofman, a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington.

Russia’s success in Syria, after American efforts proved ineffectual for over a year, have given Moscow new leverage in decisions about the future of the Middle East. And since
the US was exposed as having armed and facilitated Islamic extremism in collusion with Turkey and Saudi Arabia, Washington's position has been growing weaker. Ma
ny European Union members, including Germany, Britain and France are seeking to rebuild relations with Moscow after supporting the economic sanctions Obama demanded in retaliation for Putin's humanitarian acts in Ukraine which prevented a genocide of ethnic Russians.

The Obama administration is now once again talking with President Vladimir V. Putin’s government, planning to share intelligence and coordinate airstrikes against the Islamic State and other militant groups in Syria. Putin has met his goals in Syria without becoming caught in a quagmire that some, including President Obama, predicted he would.

Some military experts in the west point out that Mr. Putin has saddled Russia with the burden of propping up a Syrian regime that could not deal with the rebels on its own. In response to that we must remind ourselves that the rebels were from the start backed by the USA and its allies in a bid to overthrow Assad, just as the rebellion in Ukraine that overthrew a democratically elected government that was not sympathetic to Washington's geopolitical agenda were backed by the CIA whose operatives engineered the coup for them.

The Russian campaign in Syria began in September 2015, after a months long offensive by C.I.A.-backed rebel groups won new territory in Idlib, Hama and Latakia Provinces in northern Syria. One problem for Washington: Those groups sometimes fought alongside soldiers of the Nusra Front, which until recently was officially affiliated with Al Qaeda. The people in Washington were aware of this, Obama and the Muslim sympathisers in his administration never had any intention of crushing the anti - assad extremists, deposing Assad and thus doing Saudi Abria and Obama's other Wahabbi and Salafist (fundamentalist) allies a favour was always the priority.

The ISIS offensive prompted concerns in Moscow and Iran that Assad’s government, long supported by the Russians, might be in trouble.

Some of the rebel groups boasted at the time that TOW antitank missiles provided by American and Saudi governments were a key to their success. For several years, the C.I.A. has joined with the spy services of several Arab nations to arm and train the rebels at bases in Jordan and Qatar, with the Saudis bankrolling much of the operation. A C.I.A. spokesman declined to comment about any American assistance to Syrian rebels, somewhat futile in view of a notorious leaker of classified material whose name is Snowden.

Nobel economist Says Euro was flawed from start and destined to collapse'

In a book to be published next week, ‘The Euro: How a Common Currency Threatens the Future of Europe,' (an extract of which has been published by The Guardian, Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stilgitz writes the European Single Currency System (The Euro) was flawed at birth and is destined to collapse unless huge changes are made to the common currency system.

"The euro is often described as a bad marriage. A bad marriage involves two people who never should have been joined together making vows that are supposedly indissoluble. The euro is more complicated: it is a union of 19 markedly different countries tying themselves together," said an extract from the book published by the Guardian.

A professor of economics at Columbia University, and former senior vice president and chief economist of the World Bank, Stiglitz observed that the euro had neither delivered prosperity to European Union member states, nor had it smoothed the path to political integration of those members into a single political entity, the two principal goals of they system's architects. As a result, European nations are now starting to divide into cultural blocs and view each other with suspecion. , until Changellor Angela Merkel's 'open doors' immigration policy allowed unskilled, illiterate third world peasants to flood into the country, is now looking politically isolated in the organisation it once presumed to dominate.

According to the Stilgitz a single currency designed to hold together a region with enormous economic and political diversity is almost incapable of working. Excuse us for blowing our own trumpet but this is what our own finance expert, Phil T. Looker, has been saying for a decade. If nations do not control their own money then they cannot take steps to deal with changing economic conditions according to the economic strengths and weaknesses of their nation.

Stilgitz also criticized the Eurozone leaders claiming they had no proper understanding of what a monetary union meant. The structure of the Eurozone,its rules and regulations, was not designed to promote growth, employment and stability but to advance the single European supertate agenda and globalism.

The critique of Eurozone economics continues, "The mark of a well-functioning economy is rapid growth, the benefits of which are shared widely, with low unemployment. What has occurred in Europe is the opposite. .. A small country in Europe could, for instance, be in a recession when the rest of Europe is doing well."

Or as we have witnessed since the Euro was launched in 2001, a large and economically powerful country with a solid economy (Germany) could be doing well while other large but less economically stable nations such as France and Italy struggle and small nations with weak economies (Greece, Portugal,) face ever deepening economivc chaos.

According to Stiglitz large parts of the Eurozone now face a 'lost decade,' and even Europe's so-called successes have become colossal failures. He gives the example of Spain where official statistics show unemployment has fallen from 26 percent in 2013, to 20 percent at the beginning of 2016 - but nearly one out of every two people are unemployed. This is possible because European Union rules on measuring unemployed statistics dictate that people who have been out of work for two years are excluded from the statistics.

The economist suggested the best way forward for the euro area is a ‘flexible euro,’ where each member country adopts its own version of the currency. They could of course simply revert to the curriencies they had before monetary union.

Scrapping the idea of monetary integration could help the weak southern European countries export more and import less, helping to achieve a trade balance and full employment, writes Stiglitz.

Weak Chinese Trade Data Confirms Global Slowdown, Imports Tumble

While central banks continue to 'print money', now at an accelerating rate (now nearly $200 billion per month, they cannot print trade. In November last year and again last January, we reported The Baltic Dry Index, perhaps the single best indicator of deteriorating global economic conditions, crashed to record lows. The 'Balitc Dry' reflects freight rates for goods in trade being carried on ships around the world. Shipping companies were practically giving away space in their ships. It seemed global trade had come to a standstill.

Since then the index has only recovered a little and many other statistics have proved our assessment of the situation was correct.

The latest confirmation came this week from China, where reported trade data for the month of July more disappointing than the previous month, which in turn had been worse than May. Exports and especially imports fell more than expected in July in a rocky start to the year's third quarter, suggesting the measures taken by the Chinese government to kick start the economt have failed to generate a substantial recovery, and pointing to further and accelerating weakness in global demand. This explainins the recent scramble by central banks to unleash even more monetary easing (it was nothing to do with Brexit, that was just a convenient scapegoat.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected trade to remain weak but show some signs of improvement as factories began to gear up for the peak year-end shopping season.

That has not happened, as imports fell 12.5 percent from a year earlier, the biggest decline since February. suggesting China's domestic demand may be faltering despite a round of quantitative easing (pumping fiat money into the economy) to stimulate economic growth. "I think (the drop in imports) is mainly from the demand side," said Ma Xiaoping, an economist at HSBC in Beijing, quoted by Reuters. According to Ma government efforts to cut overcapacity could prove to be counter productive, resulting in an even bigger reduction in demand.

Also notable is the slowdown in Chinese crude oil demand, as China oil imports fell to a 6-month low: China imported 31.07m mt of crude last month, the General Administration of Customs in Beijing says on website. That’s equivalent to 7.35m b/d, lowest since January.

The bad news goes on. Exports fell 4.4 percent on-year, the General Administration of Customs said on Monday, while adding that it expects pressure on shipments likely will start to ease in October. That resulted in a trade surplus of $52.31 billion in July, the biggest since January, versus June's $48.11 billion. While oil imports may be declining, oil product exports hit 4.57 million metric tons with net oil product exports at record 2.49metric tons, as China continues to flood the world with diesel and gasoline exports.

For the January to July period, China's exports fell 7.4 percent, while imports fell 10.5 percent, roughly on pace with last year's 8 percent decline. China's imports have now declined for 21 straight months, while exports have fallen for 12 of 13 months, helping to drag economic growth to its slowest in a quarter of a century.

"Signs of stronger manufacturing activity among many of China's key trading partners has so far failed to lift export growth," Capital Economics' China economist Julian Evans-Pritchard said in a note. "The country's export growth is likely to remain subdued for some time."

China's exports underwhelmed despite still-strong shipments of steel and oil products, with the latter hitting a record. China has come under fire from trading partners accusing it of dumping its excess industrial capacity in global markets.

Forget the figures from the rigged Stock and commodity exchanges, forget the rosy looking employment figures, the reality is the global economy is more fucked up than it was in July 2008. And we all know what happened a couple of months after that.

Can Politicians Be Trusted? NO! - and NO! times 10 if they are left wing politicians.

At the recent US Democratic Party convention, where Hillary Clinton, a geriatric who allegedly has brain damage, was acclaimed as the party' presidential candidate for the election due in November 2009, one of the star speakers was as man named Khizr Khan, supposedly the bereaved father of a US soldier and follower of the Muslim faith. Khan spoke humbly and movingly of his son's sacrifice in the service of his country; the speech was seized upon by left wing politicians and mainstream media as an example of how Muslims are unfairly demonised in US society and how the white majority in the USA are racist, xenophobic bigots.

As one would expect from the shallow, superficial, attention seekers who jump on every bandwagon the Democrats, their traditional sidekicks the Hollywood celebrity circus and the dutiful hacks of mainstream media set rolling and those who identify themselves as progressive and liberal, while persuing authoritarian and reactionary goals, Mr. Khan was not quite what he seemed to be.

The father of the American war hero (a young officer who really did lay down his life to protect troops under his command, is according to a whistleblower inside the Democratic Party, an immigration lawyer who has made a lot of money from the Obama administration by representing some very dodgy characters and helping them gain residency in the United States. The source says that Khan was paid $25,000 to read a speech that was written by two people who work for the Clinton Campaign, also the copy of the US constitution he showed while at the podium was bought just hours before by a Clinton staffer. And if you think that piece of stage managed propaganda represents the worst of modern politics, things go downhill from there.

Mr. Khan was contacted by the Clinton Campaign after his name was given to them by the White House just 4 days before the convention this after 5 other families had turned down the offer to speak, all of these families had to sign Non Disclosure Agreements, and each were paid $5,000.

Kahn an immigration attorney (sic) with his own firm which is deeply in-debt some $1,700,000, has unresolved issues regarding taxes and from public records appears to owe around $850,000 in tax arrears plus interest and penalties. A fine example of a well assimilated Muslim immigrant. The website set up to promote Khan's lucrative business in helping import Islamic extremists and other undesirables into the USA has now been taken down.

Mr Khan has also verifiably been paid by CNN and NBC News over $100,000 to tell his fake story to them, plus he has been given a bonus of $175,000 by the DNC AKA the Clinton Campaign, but it still not done yet, the IRS as of yesterday has placed his file on hold and will no longer go after Mr. Khan and his wife for the back taxes due.

So what does this tell America about Mr. Khan? Yes his son was a brave solider who gave his life to protect his troops and served honourably, but his father has used his death to make money and settle his debts, this is not what a Gold Star family should ever represent. Mr. Khan is a fake not a man who his son would be proud of today.

Does not matter if Mr.Khan is a member of or supports the Muslims Brotherhood it plays nothing into this at all , it’s not illegal to support or be a member of that organization.

It does not matter that Khan supports Sharia Law, he has an absolute right to argue for the US legal codex to be replaced by that brutal, sexist, xenophobic medieval system (its called the right of free speech). What does matter is that a fake story written for by Hillary Clinton's campaign team and the Democratic Party National Committee was presented as his own heartfelt truth, and that he was paid big money and offered considerable favours by those organisation for being part of a politically motivated deception. It also matters that America, where 'Crooked Hillary' is not yet even president elect, but where a drug using former arse prostitute has served as president for the past eight years, the establishment is willing to purge all your crimes and even make you rich if you serve their political ambitions well.

All of modern politics is corrupt, what we are allowed to see is spin and deception. There is no diffenece between parties that call themselves 'left' or 'right', they all serve the same masters. As the Khizr Khan episode shows by the way the US Democratic Party tried to corrupt the legacy of an honourable man, their is no depth to which politicians and elitists will not sink in order to gain more wealth and power for themselves.

Italy Dragged Into US Led Military Campain In Libya

As if the unfortunate people had not, over the years since 2011, suffered enough at the hands of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton (who was the architect of the bombing campaign that led to the overthrow of President Muammar (Mad Dog) Gadaffi and the subsequent transformation of Libya for Africa's most prosperous and economically advanced nation to a chaotic failed state with three feuding governments), the Obama administration recently kicked off another military campaign in Libya, this time against ISIS, which thanks to the Obama administration's previous ill - advised intervention had made Libya the centre of its African operations.

However, not all the "coalition of the willing" are quite as willing as they were last time round.

Last week, Italian Defense Minister Roberta Pinotti confirmed that Rome was willing to allow the USA to use Italian military facilities, in particular the air base at Sigonella in Scicily to support US airstrikes against Daesh in Libya. "The government is ready to positively evaluate the issue of the use of Italian bases and airspace," Pinotti said, addressing the lower house of the Italian parliament on Wednesday.

Asked to comment on the decision, Mirko Molteni, a military journalist for Analisi Difesa magazine and the Milan-based daily newspaper Libero, told Sputnik Italia that it would undoubtedly increase the danger of terrorist attacks against Italy.

Molteni also observed that the decision to participate has put the country close to a state of war. "The problem is that Daesh has already threatened attacks on Italian territory for some time, especially against Rome, the capital of the Catholic world. The fact that Italy is making its bases available to the coalition greatly increases the threat of such attacks."

The analyst warned "this may permanently destroy the illusion that Italy is safe from the terrorists."

At the same time, Molteni noted that unfortunately, the Italian government really does not have much of a say in the US-led initiative, "Its tendency to blindly follow the great powers has become a typical trend in recent decades. Even in 2011, the Berlusconi government failed to oppose the airstrikes against the Gaddafi government initiated by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Italy was made to tag along with Paris and Washington in this historical mistake which created the current instability in Libya."

Unfortunately, Italy's political and military servility toward the United States is rooted in nearly 70 years of history, which followed Italy's entry into the NATO alliance, Molineti added.

After the events, revelations and leaks (Democrat campaign computers hacked three times in a week) of the past month, the US Presidential election campaign of Hillary Clinton should lie in ruins. That it isn't may in some small way be due to the fact that her opponent is the equally unappetizing Donald Trump, but is more likely to be because mainstream media, the Hollywood attention seeker gang, (George Clowney, Brangelina, Bendydick Cumbertwat, all the usual suspects,)are solidly behind Clinton because all-join-hands-and-sing-Kumbaya.

The Clinton campaign has been getting predominantly positive coverage, while Trump's most innocuous remarks provoke screams of 'racism', 'sexism', 'homophobia. In spite of that Clinton seems unable to engage the white, working class voters who will decide the fate of the election. With the Clinton scandals refusing to go away, and each new release of leaked documents bringing to light a new scandal involving Hillary, Bill or their fraudulent 'charity' the Clinton foundation.

As a result of all this, the campaign has resorted to the oldest political tactic in the world, they have released Phobos and Diemos, the two firey stallions that pull the chariot of the war god. Phobos and Diemos or fear and panic are summoned to a cause by creating a dangerous enemy that, in the minds of citizens, threatens safety, security and prosperity.

The cumulative effect of the DNC email hack has been to trigger the Pavlov's Dogs element in the US media and political establishment to close ranks in an effort to deflect attention from the chaotic state of the Clinton campaign and the incompetence in the Democratic Party by intensifying efforts to demonise Russian President Vladimir Putin and demonise the Russian state as an real and immediate threat to American security.

And like Pavlov's Dogs, President Barack Obama, Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party many among the Republican ranks, the military, security services, the press and television commentators have all jumped on the bandwagon and tried to present Putin public enemy number one. It is as if to prime the American public for war with Russia, something we have warned of before.

The project may backfire, with Donald Trump offering a non - interventionist foreign policy and Americans sick of Obama's wars (some of which were inherited from his predecessor) the old ‘we are bombing civilians out of a humanitarian necessity’ is just not working. In preparing the public for a war that could only be hugely costly in economic and human terms, extra large helpings of fear and panic are needed. Unfortunately, in spite of repeated provocations, Putin has so far refused to bite.

As part of the effort to arouse public hostility, the Associated Press recently published an article for syndication entitled “Clinton v. Putin: Russian television shows what Kremlin thinks of her.” Perhaps the AP presumed to rouse the American public in defense of Hillary Clinton. It didn't work, Americans are somewhat less than enthusiastic about 'Crooked hillary' becoming their president, are aware Mrs. Clinton is a foreign policy hawk who would start World War Three simply because she didn't like the colour of some foreign leader's shirt, and is a crony capitalist.

In her nomination acceptance speech, Clinton repeated her accusations made in an interview for Sunday Fox News that ‘Russian intelligence” was responsible for the DNC hacking and linked her opponent Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin on the strength of Trump's having said he respects Putin as a leader.

Using the DNC hack issue as an opportunity to attack Putin on another front, Clinton asserted during the Fox interview that "we KNOW that Russian intelligence services hacked into the DNC and we KNOW that they arranged for a lot of those emails to be released and we KNOW that Donald Trump has shown a very troubling willingness to back up Putin, to support Putin." In fact what Mrs Clinton "knew" was pure wishful thinking. It would have fitted her narrative had Russia been behind the hack but there is no evidence whatsoever that it happened. Instead, the hack looks a
s if it was carried out from within the USA. But like most 'liberalks' Clinton is a solipsist and has no difficulty convincing herself a lie is true simply because she wants it to be true.

Clinton has previously launched personal attacks on Putin. In March, 2014 in a speech on a University of California campus, she said he was "thin-skinned," and was trying to "re-sovietize Europe while threatening instability and the peace of Europe." She went on to criticise Putin's annexation of Crimea as "Russian aggression".

In referring to ‘Russian aggression,” Clinton's speech writers are smart enough to know the difference between protecting ethnic Russians who have centuries of deep cultural roots in Ukraine and Crimea as compared to Hitler’s invasions of eastern Europe. Did Clinton knowingly adjust the chronology of events in the Ukraine which began with the US-initiated overthrow of a democratically elected President on February 22, 2014; followed by an overwhelming vote on March 16th by Crimean citizens to reunite with Russia which was then followed by the legal annexation of the Crimean peninsula to Russia on March 18th.

Thanks to Clinton’s repetitive disinformation campaign, accusations of ‘Russian aggression’ are now widespread; repeated in the media and by Members of Congress without regard to the evidence. And if media commentators and politicians, with far better sources available to them than Joe the Punter, choose to remain uninformed what hope is there of avoiding global conflict if the USA commits the folly of electing Hillary Clinton as its president.

On July 5th, the director of the FBI, James Comey, held a press conference where he announced the FBI’s recommendation to not prosecute Hillary Clinton for the crime of possessing an illegal and unsecured email server in the basement of her home. However, days before this announcement was delivered, an anonymous forum poster had already stated that the FBI would not recommend the prosecution.

The forum known as 4chan is the originating home of the hacker group called Anonymous. It was on this forum that someone claimed to be a member of the FBI team investigating Hillary Clinton’s email servers and other corruption scandals that surround the candidate. It is impossible to tell if this person was a legitimate member of the FBI team, but when their prediction came true, people started paying attention.

The anonymous poster returned for several question and answer sessions over the next few weeks. He responded to the questions with only vague hints as it was necessary to conceal his identity to avoid retaliation. With the information he provided, many would-be investigators began diving into the bowels of the internet looking for the connections and proof of Clinton’s scandalous affairs.

Crowds Are Stupid; Wisdom Is Solitary

Do you even get the feeling when you are online that in spite of Google's claims to order search results primarily according to quality, the good stuff is actually being concealed from you? If so, you will not be surprised to learn that unless you are running TOR and Tails, it is. Some critics of the way the web has been hijacked by a few technology corporations say as much as 96% of online content is inaccessible to Joe Ordinary and you (but not me, I had a long career in data networking; although I would not put the figure as high as 96% unless you use exclusively Google for search. 90% would probably be nearer.).

A few years ago, tired of hearing that idiotic dictum of Bill Gates (the man who made 'not fit for purpose' an acceptable quality rating,) and other Silicon valley mind manipulation artists about The Wisdom Of Crowds, I posted online an essay, Shakeaspeare's Proud Loner and The Widom Of Crowds to explore this wisdom of crowds phenomenon.
It's good to see more and more people are thinking on the same lines. Even if this writer is discussing Democratic and Republican Party political philosophies, if you are patient enough to read the whole article (linked at the end of this extract) he comes to some interesting conclusions about groupthink, and how opinion is manipulated.

Have you ever won or lost a political argument? Have you or an opponent ever said: “Your facts and logic are overpowering, I have to concede that you’re right.” It’s never happened, has it? It doesn’t happen because politics has little to do with facts and logic. The first lesson infants learn, evolutionarily hardwired, is that mom provides. She supplies the physical basics, and psychological sustenance as well. She smiles and coos, delighted by almost everything her baby does. “Mom,” as in mom and the apple pies she cooks, has a sacred, unrivaled place in the human conscious and subconscious. Insulting someone’s mother is an invitation to a fight. Whether you realize or admit it or not, the person that bore, gave birth, and nurtured you through childhood has a outsize presence in your psyche.

“Branding” is a marketing buzzword, but one of some intellectual value in a field littered with useless emissions. If you’re trying to sell something, you want consumers to associate your product or service with a simple but psychologically powerful concept. Food companies and restaurant chains sell healthy and delicious, or tie eating into warm memories. Purveyors of athletic clothes and footwear link themselves with athletic excellence. The fat blob swilling beer on the couch gets winded going to the refrigerator, but wears Nike sweats. Cosmetic and fashion companies peddle hope to millions of women and men who will never look like the models who show off the merchandise. Insurance and home security companies sell fear.

Ethics out of the window as US Government authorises Frankenstein science.

It had to happen in the USA sometime. Where even third world nations have resisted the blandishments of creepy, wannabe - God scientists, it was inevitable that a nation that could elect a crack addicted arse prostitute as its president and follow up with a choice between a corrupt billionaire and a liar, fraud and embezzler whose only qualification for the role was that she is married to a guy who used to be president, would be the first to allow experiments in creating human / animal hybids in the hope of creating monster that would make $$$billions for corporate business. The US National Institutes of Health wants government money to fund research that would mix human cells into animal embryos. It is hoped it could lead to major breakthroughs to tackle disease. Critics worry that it will raise serious ethical issues.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) had operated a moratorium on researching whether human cells could be used to modify animal brains from 2009. NIH Guidelines for Human Stem Cell Research does not allow human cells to be injected into animals, nor for the breeding of animals using human eggs or sperm cells. Now however, the organization has changed its mind and wants to investigate this field further.

Some of the researchers believe that the techniques could lead to breakthroughs in trying to tackle diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's (this is the usual justification for creepy science the public would not tolerate if scientists were honest and said, "Fuck, we just wanted to create the first viable ManBearPig,") while it could also be used to grow organs needed for human transplants.

"I am confident that these proposed changes will enable the NIH research community to move this promising area of science forward in a responsible manner," Carrie Wolinetz, NIH associate director for science policy, wrote in an article on the organization’s website. Really? Well why don't they show us a few of the amazing breakthroughs that have resulted from ethically dodgy science? The cure for cancer for example? The cures we were promised for Alzheimers and Parkinson's diseases if only we would stop being fuddy duddies and allow scientists to create human embryos to experiment on?

The case is of course, that like the scientists who worked for the Nazis in that unfortunate era in German history, these arseholes are interested only in seeing how far they can push nature before it breaks.

Critics of the plan are worried that the proposed experiments could raise complex ethics questions and go beyond what is deemed acceptable in today’s society, especially when looking at altering an animal’s brain with human cells.

“Let's say that we have pigs with human brains and they are wondering why we are doing experiments on them,” New York Medical College researcher Stuart Newman told AFP.

“What if we had human bodies with animal brains, and then you say, ‘Well they are not really humans, we can do experiments on them and harvest organs from them’,” he observed. “I am coming up with extreme scenarios, but just making these chimeric embryos 15 or 20 years ago was considered an extreme scenario.”

Wolinetz says that adding human cells to animals is nothing new this technology has been used by those in the biomedical industry.

“Researchers have created and used animal models containing human cells for decades to gain valuable insights into human biology and disease development. For example, human tumor cells are routinely grown in mice to study cancer disease processes and to evaluate potential treatment strategies,” she wrote in the statement. again, OK fine, so show us the revolutionary cancer treatments that are saving millions of lives without recourse to surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy?

The revised proposal from the NIH differs in that it would involve human stem cells being injected into an animal embryo at a very early stage, which could theoretically mean that the human cells would contribute to the development on the animal.

Newman is adamant in his opposition, telling AFP this “is just a road that we should not go down.” While he accepts that the intention is not to create animals with fully functioning human brains, he adds that “we don't have any laws in this country that would stop unethical people doing those things.”

Some experts have spoken of the need to use human cells in animals to help find cures for diseases, which are baffling scientists. Robert Klitzman, director of Columbia University's Masters of bioethics program, believes the move taken by the NIH could potentially help millions of people around the world and was a “great step in the right direction.” Naturally (ahem) he offers no evidence to back up this assertion, only the arrogance that defines followers of The Church Of Scienceolgy cult.

“We need to be careful with human brain cells,” he said. “What we don't want is a mouse or a chimp that suddenly has human-like qualities, because morally that creates a number of problems.”

The 1,500 businesses taking part in the protest released a statement to the Italian press explaining why they chose the Union flag saying, "We’re all British," and added, "We’re all against Brussels technocrats who want to destroy an entire category of business owners".

One businessman, Riccardo Borgo, who runs a small business on the beach in the Liguria region told Italian press: "We, like the British, want Europe to change pace," directly referring to the British referendum (Brexit) on EU membership.
