The Demonisation Of Novak Djokovic

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tennis/2022/02/15/should-novak-djokovic-vaccinated-yes-should-banned-absolutely/

While certain sections of mainstream media continue to vilify Novak Djokovic with the label “anti-vaxxer,” such a cliched and unthinking dismissal of his stance misunderstands both the nature of the man and the arguments he is making. The trumped up case made by the Australian immigration minister to justify  banning him from competing in Australia and then deporting him last month alleges Djokovic engaged in efforts to disssuade people from being jabbed but thus is simply untrue. Throughout the whole sorry saga, which has brought shame on the Australian government, the Serbian star has insisted he is not trying to influence anybody, merely exercising his inalienable human right (as defined by the Geneva convention of 1948, to delince a medical procedure he believes to be unnecessary for him. He has also defended the right of people to be vaccinated if they wish.

If fault lies anywhere it is with the Austrialian government, it is their fascistic behaviour in trying to force everybody to get a shot of toxic shite that will not immunise them but is 1000 times more likely than any previous vaccine to kill recipents. (By precedent any medication that is linked to 50 deaths worldwide is withdrawn on safety grounds. To date over 50,000 deaths in UK, USA and Europe have been linked to COVID vaccination.

Novak emphasised this point in a recent BBC interview, the first he has given since his abortive attempt to win a 10th Australian Open title turned into a full-blown Covid-19 culture war. “I was never against vaccination,” he said. “I understand that globally, everyone is trying to put a big effort into handling this virus and into seeing an end to this virus.”

There is a big difference between exercising a personal choice to decline vaccination and questioning the by what right governments and scientists beleive that private citizens should be forcibly compelled, to accept a controversial medication that was rushed through development, by - passed full clinical testing and which was approved only for emergency use after vaccine manufacturers had been civen across the board idemnity from legal action in cases of physical or emotional harm arising from vaccination. Sadly, such are the efforts to caricature Djokovic as the demonic counterpoint to the faultlessly virtuous Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal that politicians, academics and the media have totally failed to recognise the virtues of his personal case for refusing vaccination, leaving him in a position where he can do nothing to dispel the misconceptions crrated by an orchestrated propaganda campaign that he is a self-absorbed menace to public health.

The strength of Novak Djokovic's self belief is beyond doubt, demonstrated b his ability to deny Federer a ninth Wimbledon crown from two championship points down or through his conviction that his superbly conditioned body has no need for the interventions of a vaccine that will neither make him immune to the disease it is marketed as a preventative for, nor stop him spreadig the disease. This is a man who described crying for three days after finally agreeing to surgery on his elbow in 2018, regarding it as an expression of weakness and personal failure. Many of us, like Djokovic, have stood by the principle of If it ain't broke don't fix it, with regard to the much hyped COVID pandemic, facing the opporobium and mass hysteria of the unthinking blob who rushed out to get vaccinated and are now blaming we the unvaxxed for the fact that they have caught COVID and are now experiencing fatigue and a series of minor health problems consistent with a compromised auto - immune system.

****

Even so, it was startling to hear him admit that he would give it all up – the pursuit of Nadal’s 21 major titles, the right to be acclaimed as statistically the greatest player of all time – for the sake of his belief that he should be free to refuse a Covid vaccine.

“Why, Novak, why?” asked the BBC’s Amol Rajan, aghast. But in Djokovic’s view, such a liberty overrides any other concern. He has scaled the most improbable peaks in tennis through his obsessive control of every variable in his physical conditioning, even down to the type of water he drinks. He is not about to make any exception now, especially when his paperwork to enter Australia, admittedly much-disputed, suggests that he has already had the virus twice.

But the realities that he is young, low-risk and supremely fit afford him no immunity to the chorus of international condemnation. The received wisdom is that Djokovic, through his apparent prioritising of his own interests over the common good, must be stripped of any right to compete.

One has to wonder in what kind of world do the baying mob of mainstream media journalists and pundits think we live, in which it is deemed appropriate for politicians, journalists and celebrities to give a complete stranger medical advice? ,It may well be the case that the average Australian politician, journalist or celebrity has a literacy level equivalent to something that dropped out of a Wombat's arse, but media contributors in morer advanced nations would do well to  research the Hippocratic Oath the Nuremberg Code, the aforementioned Geneva Convention on human rights and perhaps read Milton Friedman's book Capitalism and Freedom to get a sense of what is being fought for here.

Simon  Briggs

Novak Djokovic’s position on vaccines is as unsurprising as it is eye-rollingly daft.

Here he is, claiming not to be an anti-vaxxer on the grounds that he has never pushed his opinion on others. And yet his interview with the BBC stood at the top of their news website on Tuesday morning, above the build-up to what some anxious observers are terming World War III.

In other words, Djokovic is denying the essential fact that his decisions have an impact on others, whether he likes it or not.

In his world, he is entitled to take control of his own body, without reference to the wider consequences. And yet, through the drama surrounding his ill-fated trip to Australia, he has become one of the highest-profile refuseniks in the world – probably THE highest-profile.

His unparalleled athleticism makes him the ultimate poster child for those who have imbibed conspiracy theories online. He comes across as a clean-running, friction-free biological machine – the key to his status as arguably the greatest male tennis player of all.

As a vaccine sceptic, Djokovic thus represents the human equivalent of the perfect storm, particularly for his many hero-worshippers in the Balkans. Put simply, his actions will make it harder to suppress the virus. So while he has the right to sidestep the vaccine, it is pure sophism to claim that this doesn’t make him an anti-vaxxer.

While the concept of athletes as “role models” has its problems – especially when used as a prurient excuse to trawl through a footballer’s bins – there is a certain responsibility that comes with the sort of fame and fortune that Djokovic has amassed.

Yes, he lives in an ivory tower – or rather several ivory towers, in Monaco, Marbella and Belgrade. But when he goes to a tournament, he will be mixing with other players, as well as fans, media, officials and so on.

And here we return to the essential interconnectedness of things. Each person at that tournament is a little safer because of every dose of the vaccine shared by their peers. Why should they welcome someone who believes they know better, in defiance of all scientific proof.

To put it in more formal terms – and borrow a line written by the influential author Cary Doctorow – “Human beings have an undeniably entwined epidemiological destiny. There are few epidemiological choices that are purely personal - they redound to the people around you.”

from Comments:

  1. In what kind of world do you think it is appropriate to give a stranger medical advice? Another moronic piece by a deluded DT sports journo. Please research the Hippocratic Oath and the Nuremberg Code and perhaps read Milton Friedman's book Capitalism and Freedom to get a sense of what is being fought for here.

  2. ‘Each person at that tournament is a little safer because of every dose of the vaccine shared by their peers’

We’ve got governments and pharmaceutical companies worldwide who stand to gain financially pushing these injections without anyone being prepared to take responsibility for possible future risks. You’re an idiot if you don’t take a closer look and make your own personal decision based on risk. No one can know the long term effects and with a drug that does little to prevent spread anyway. Your body, your choice.

  3. “Should be be vaccinated?” - entirely up to him!!! Good in him for standing up for choice and body autonomy.

  4. Good for Novak.

A principled, intelligent, courageous man. A true inspiration.

Given that these experimental gene therapies confer neither immunity nor protection from infection they should be renamed ‘treatments’.

Given that the ‘omicron’ variant is mild to all that catch it because it affects the upper respiratory tract so is not likely to cause complications like pneumonia there is no longer any need for anybody other than the very most vulnerable to continue with these ineffective medicines.

  5. Good on him. He's a positive role model for the minority of us with our DNA still intact.

  6. Oh dear - sounds like Simon Briggs is a fully paid up Covidian bedwetter.....

Put simply, his actions will make it harder to suppress the virus.

No Simon it won't as the jab neither prevents infection or spread and his natural immunity from having Covid is way better than the clot shot as PROVEN in numerous medical papers (go and search for the Israeli studies)

So Simon you're a paid up shill for the vax zealots - pathetic

  7. "Each person at that tournament is a little safer because of every dose of the vaccine shared by their peers."

The same applies to countries. I mean, just look at Israel and its stunning success in controlling infection via vaccination.

  8. To Simon Briggs: you cite "all scientific proof" as the reason why (presumably) we should all be vaccinated. This despite the fact (now proven beyond all doubt) that the jabs prevent neither infection, illness or transmission. The side effects of the jab are real for enough people that under previous guidelines this drug would not be allowed onto the market. The data is totally clear on who may be vulnerable and to what extent. So when you use the phrase "eye rollingly daft" to describe the stance of someone who chooses not to be vaccinated, what insight do you have that the rest of the world doesn't? Life should not be about complying with the exaggerated diktats of the political class, or post rationalising your own beliefs by pouring scorn on those you disagree with.

  9. I agree Novak shall not be banned, all un-vaccinated sportsmen should be banned!

  10. Should Novak, or anyone else, be vaccinated?

Only if they freely choose to be.

Should Brown be ashamed of himself for suggesting anyone should be vaccinated? Yes he should.

  11. ‘In his world, he is entitled to take control of his own body, without reference to the wider consequences……… Each person at that tournament is a little safer because of every dose of the vaccine shared by their peers. Why should they welcome someone who believes they know better, in defiance of all scientific proof.’

Where to start with this? Everyone is 'allowed' to take control of their own body for goodness sake. Lose bodily autonomy and what comes next? Mandated organ donation 'for the greater good'. Euthanasia of the unproductive 'for the common good'. Who knows?

As for each person being safer due to the vaccines taken by others - this is misinformation I'm afraid. Really DT you should not be publishing this as it has been entirely debunked. Vaccines do not prevent infection, Vaccines do not prevent transmission, Currently they show NEGATIVE efficacy ie vaccinated people are MORE likely to be infected (and transmit) than unvaccinated. This is from UKHSA latest data. p43

    https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1054071/vaccine-surveillance-report-week-6.pdf

  12. Djokovic has the right to be vaccinated or not as he sees fit. He is however required to fulfil entry requirements to any country he visits and any tournament he enters. The furore in Australia suggested a manipulation of the rules, the paperwork and the facts to by-pass the country and tournament requirements which does not sit well with many regardless of where they sit on the spectrums of choice and/or vaccination.

Maybe I am not alone in seeing this interview as a well timed rallying cry attempting to mobilise support.

  13. I fully support the principles of consent and bodily autonomy. But professional athletes already don't really have bodily autonomy insofar as there is whole raft of regulations they must follow which dictate what substances they may and may not put in their bodies.

I also absolutely do not support the wealthy and powerful trying to have their cake and eat it by not getting vaccinated, securing fraudulent documentation to 'prove' they're exempt and lying on visa applications to evade the same consequences that everyone else would have to accept. The man is a disgrace.

  14. Should we comment or have an opinion on someone’s vaccination status? Absolutely not.

  15. Why should he "absolutely " be vaxxed? Its his body - bodily autonomy is a precious thing in this Covid averse world. Natural immunity will ultimately serve him better than constant vaxxing against new varieties. See the Yellow Card or CDC reports for adverse effects of these manufactured mRNA injections.

    1. How on earth does the vacc make everyone safer when in fact all governments and stats tell you it is just making it less likely that you get severely ill, it does not prevent infection and infecting others at all. So the only reason to get it is if you believe yourself at risk of getting severely ill, that is it, there is no wider good in it.

    2. Why does the author believe that Djokovic having a vaccine will make others safer? he has been infected twice, the vaccines do not stop transmission. The argument it keeps others safe is for the birds and misses the point entirely. It is nobody's business whether he is vaccinated or not, and shame on those who continue to peddle this nonsense

    3. Why should he be vaccinated? The chances of a super fit athlete in their 30s being hospitalised with Covid is lower than being struck by lightning.

    4. I would have had far more respect for him if he had been honest about his stance rather than

deliberately lie and use his fame. I couldn't give a monkey's whether he was vaccinated or not personally but he was rightly forbidden entrance under the circumstances he created himself.

    5. I read a piece in the Mail where Donkeyvic had said about the vaccine "he believes in the freedom to choose what to put in his body! The poor people in Srebrenica didn't have that choice, did they?

Are you suggesting Mr Djokovic had a hand in that massacre?

I could not understand why this was the headline news on BBC all morning until I saw the BBC advert for an interview Amol what's-his-face has done with Djokovic. In truth it really is all last month's news and since there will be no vaccine requirements for him to be at Wimbledon is all just a waste of air time!

    6. Disgusting article. Would expect it to be from the BBC or the Guardian.

While Crazy Joe Biden Claims Victory Over Russia, NATO's Expansion Plans Have Been Derailed By Putin

Kazakhstan shows US influence is on the wane

While Joe Biden's administration in the USA continues to beat the war drums about Russian aggression against Ukraine with talk of a Russian false flag even involving an attack on an infants school (in reality this incident was part of the eight year old conflict between Ukranian troops and rebel fighters in the breakaway region of Donbas,) yet simultaneously claims credit for the current de-escalation of tensions on the Russia / Ukraine border (in reality nothing to do with the US President's efforts to provoke a Russian invasion of its neighbour,) NATO’s policy of expansionism at the expense of Russia’s security concerns has suffered a major setback.

The US / UK / European alliance's policy of blaming Russia for everything was never intended to ensure Ukraine honoured its commitments to the Minsk agreements, designed to put an end to fighting in the Donbass, as autonomy in Eastern Ukraine would challenge NATO's (and by extension America's influence in Europe, particularly in among the east European states that gained independence after the break up of the Soviet Union.

Instead, NATO countries aimed to undermine the Minsk agreement of 2014 by constant references to absorbing Ukraine into the alliance, a move Russia would never tolerate, supplying Ukraine with advanced military technolgy to shift the balance of power in the region and neutralise the threat of Russian reprisals should Ukraine try to end the rebellion by using overwhelming force to crush the ethnic Russian Donbas rebels. On top of that stringent economic sanctions  were intended to weaken Russia while Ukraine was to be strengthened economically through being granted strategic partner staus by the EU.

It was obvious last year, asfter seven years of conflict that the Minsk agreement was not working and needed to be renegotiated but instead Ukrainian forces mobilised along the border of Donbass while the government in Kiev, backed by NATO and the EU, threat ened to retaking the region by force. Only fools would ever suppose Russia or Vladimir Putin would tolerated such behaviour but nobody has ever accused the junta of neo - Nazis installed in Kiev by NATO and Washington after 2014's colour revolution of being intelligent.

Predictably Russia responded by moving extra troops and military hardware to te already heavily garrissoned Ukraine border. NATO responded by pledging their support to the authorities in Kiev and threatened Moscow with devastating sanctions if it moved against Ukraine in defence of the breakaway regions.

The recent military build up on the Russian side of the border is in response to Ukraine's threats against the Donbas rebels and NOT as a precursor to a full scale invasion. However Russia's military presence along the border established clear red lines regarding what would trigger an intervention, and sent the message that further Western sanctions would merely intensify Russia’s economic decoupling from Europe. As this I have commented many times in the past eight years and as recently as yesterday, economic sanctions against Russia tend to hit America's European allies harder than their intended target. This is particularly true now because due to EU led loonytoons green energy policies some economically significant north European nations are dependent of Russian gas for the electricity that powers their economies. If Putin wants to break NATO all the has to do is shut down the pipeline.

So the result of this latest exercise in NATO expansionism as the likely consequences of Russia's cutting off the oil and gas? Germany, the nation that would suffer most and also the EU's most powerful economy has broken ranks and is challenging the US assumption that America pulls NATO's strings. The UK has recommissioned several coal fired power plants, throwing the United Nation's green energy policy out of the window. Western states are reconsidering pan-European security and finally acknowledging that Russia has legitimate security interests. For 30 years Russia has sought rapproachment with the west, Yeltsin, Putin and Medvedev have all suggested Russia could join NATO but the American deep state's need for an enemy has blocked any serious discussion. Putin even suggested an EU - Russian Federation union in 2010, so the Russian aggression narrative has always been hollow.

Meetings between representatives of Ukraine and Russia have negotiated terms for a compromise over Donbas without American or EU intervention. One of the things they agreed is that NATO membership for Ukraine is no longer on the agenda. Think tanks on both sides of the Atlantic are discussing if NATO has already expanded beyond its practical limits, the A stands for Atlantic yet recent proposed additions to the organisation include Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey and Kazakhstan, none of which is anywhere near the Atlantic ocean. The possibility of a neutral status for Ukraine, similar to the model  of  Sweden, Finland or Austria is also being considered. The French president even suggested that we need a new approach to pan-European security and observed what should have been obvious: Europe cannot have security if Russia is denied security.

The USA will struggle to spin Moscow’s withdrawal after promoting a narrative of Russian expansionism for the past eight years. Joe Biden's idiotic but widely publicised speech on  “invasion day” reveals the absurdity of the Washington narrative maintained under the presidencies of Obama, Trump and Biden that Russia is pursuing territorial conquest or attempting to restore the Soviet Union. Even the Europeans appear to be exhausted by Washington’s confrontational approach and war hysteria. The simple fact is that id Vladimir Putin had wanted to attack Urkaine he would have done so long ago, probably soon after the 2014 revolution which deposed a democratically elected, pro - Moscow government.

The US will claim that a Russian aggression against Ukraine has been prevented because NATO maintained solidarity against the Russian threat. In reality, the collapse of alliance solidarity gave peace a chance. As long as the bloc is an instrument for collective hegemony in the pan-European space, the obsession with alliance solidarity functions as a rallying cry for uncompromising power politics.

Subsequently, NATO’s “alliance solidarity” has been a disaster for pan-European security. The bloc’s expansionism violated all the major pan-European security agreements by ignoring the principle of “indivisible security,” and stationing permanent combat troops in new member states violated the NATO-Russia Founding Act of 1997. When the US unilaterally withdrew from the AMB-Treaty in 2002, the INF Agreement in 2019, and the Open Skies Agreement in 2020 – the demand for alliance solidarity meant that the Europeans either muted their apprehensions or even blamed Russia for the subsequent collapse of pan-European security agreements.

Putin Could Win World War 3 Without Firing A Shot
This post war originally published in 2015, the names of western leaders have changed, little else hasLeaders of the USA and EU continue on their lunatic course of provoking confrontation with Russia, forgetting Russia's most powerful ally is China and with Iran onside and India, Brazil, Pakistan, most African nations and the oil producers of the middle east not having many reasons to love the west, it looks as if Obama, Cameron and Co. may have misread the situation ...

In Real Life The People Who Wear White Hats Are Not Always The Good Guys
We have been blogging for four years about the US drive for war, provocation of Russia in Syria, Iraq, Ukraine and elsewhere made it obvious. But I'm just a news junkie with a strong sense of curiosity and have wondered why the US seems set on this course. Good to see experts like Stephen Cohen, a prominent expert on, Russia are coming onside."

The Russian Are Coming
Mainstream media's hyping of the threat to Ukrained posed by Russian aggression is the latest in a long line of attempts to lay blame for western foreign policy disasters at the feet of Russia. In fact had Joe Biden not started to babble about Russian aggression, talking up the threat of conflict, there would be no crisis ...

Is Ukraine The Latest New World Order Target For Failed Statehood? There are many civil conflicts going on around the world, the on generating most media coverage being Syria. All of them, including Iraq, which has slid into a state of near civil war after the american troops were prematurely withdrawn as an election sop to American voters by warmonger President Barack Hussein Obama, are the result of meddling by the western powers. Now Ukraine looks set to go the same way for the same reason.

Hate Spech versus Free Speech In UK

Authored by Judith Bergman via The Gatestone Institute,

"It isn't hate to speak the truth." — J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books, Twitter, June 6, 2020.

"An entire generation are puzzled by the idea that anyone has the right to say things they don't agree with...for most people, true free speech has ceased to exist.... On some issues, such as the transgender controversy, it is virtually impossible to say anything without attracting the attention of the Thought Police." — Peter Hitchens, author and journalist, Daily Mail, December 11, 2021.

"Among millions, the idea that you can defend someone's right to say something you disagree with is now puzzling. They have no idea why anyone would do that. For them, the debate is over, they have won, and those who oppose them are stupid and wrong." — Peter Hitchens, Daily Mail, December 11, 2021.

"They also view my doubts about the theory of man-made global warming as 'denial' of a fact which they

regard as proven. To them, this is little short of sabotage of efforts to combat this peril." — Peter Hitchens, Daily Mail, December 11, 2021.

"All of them believed that they owned the truth, that they were profoundly good and that those who got in their way were therefore evil as well as wrong." — Peter Hitchens, Daily Mail, December 11, 2021.

J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter book series, found herself denounced as transphobic. She received not just a storm of social media abuse, but death threats, for saying that biological sex is real and that biological males should not be allowed into women's spaces simply by declaring themselves to be women. Pictured: Rowling accepts the "Ripple of Hope Award" from Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, on December 12, 2019 in New York City. (Photo by Bennett Raglin/Getty Images for Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights)

Freedom of speech not just under attack from the woke left in the UK, according to a recent YouGov poll, it has lost that fight and mortally wounded is on its death bed. When a representative sample (so the polling company claimed,) of Britons were asked what should be the priority, defending the right to free speech or protecting peoples' feelings, 43% of respondents said protecting people from offensive or hateful speech should be the priority, while only 38% said the focus should be on protecting free speech. Generally, men and conservative voters were more concerned about protecting free speech, while women, younger people and Labour voters were more concerned about blocking offensive or hateful speech.

The poll also suggested that self-censorship is thriving: 57% of those polled said they have stopped themselves from expressing political or social views for fear of judgement or negative responses from others." According to the poll:

"In most cases, those holding what might be considered the 'un-progressive' view more frequently omit their opinions on that topic. For example, those who believe immigration has generally been a bad thing for the UK... those who disagree with the statement 'a transgendered woman is a woman' feel they have to frequently keep bottled up."

In recent years it has been proved beyond doubt that polls are not only inaccurate, they are highly likely to reflect the vews espoused by the individual or organisation that commissioned the surevey. From personal observation I would say that while working and lower middle class people are more careful about what they say when in unfamiliar company, among like minded friends and family people are as outspoken as ever. Where free speech is most under attack is in the media, the universities and the debating chambers of political institutions, the very places where it should be most robustly defended.

Recent years have offered many examples of the dire conditions of suppressed free speech in the UK. Opinions that a person's biological sex takes precedence over "gender identity" -- that identifying as a woman is not the same as being born a woman, or that transgender men competing against women in sports creates an unfair playing field -- provoke some of the fiercest backlash.

Professor Kathleen Stock, for instance, from Sussex University, ended up resigning after being denounced as "transphobic" by students and receiving death threats for her views on transgenderism. According to one report:

Stock criticized the idea that "One aspect in particular that baffled her was the claim that a person's belief about their psychological identity, whether they are male or female, is more important than their material sex at birth — not least due to the impact such categories have on medicine, sport, science, education and more."

Stock decided to

resign from her position after her own lecturer's union sent a letter urging the university's management to "take a clear and strong stance against transphobia at Sussex."

Jo Phoenix, a professor of criminology at the Open University, resigned from her position in December after receiving abuse from colleagues and the university. She had, among other problematic matters, spoken out about "the silencing of academic debate on trans issues" as well as pointing out the problems of housing transgender women in women's prisons.

The Current Ukraine Crisis Is The Inevitable Consequence Of US, UK and EU Foreign Policy Aggression

A Russian soldier fires a rocket-propelled grenade during drills at the Kuzminsky range in the southern Rostov region of Russia - Picture: Reuters

For two decades now, starting with the destruction of the World Trade Centre and continuing through the war on terror, the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, The Arab Spring, and on to ISIS, Yemen and the current and entirely avoidable crisis in Ukraine Western foreign policy is a catalogue of disaster, mainly through the inability of diplomats and military leaders to understand that the leaders of Russia, China, the Islamic states of the middle east and Africa they are dealing with a different mindset to those they encounter in dealing with other western nations. Thus the wreckage of several previously prosperous and successful nations are stark examples of the unintended consequences of US / NATO interventions.

Sadly, on encountering successful nations such as Bashir Assad's Syria or Col. Muammar Gadaffi's Libya western leaders only see tyranny, a lack respect for human rights and an absence of decent values, and fall victim to a self righteous urge to put things right by overthrowing the local tyrant and imposing western style democracy, without a though for what the people of those states actually want.

Russia and China are vastly different to Gadaffi's Libya or Assad's Syria, China is a military and economic superpower the global influence of which  may have already passed that of the USA, it's difficult to tell because the communist regime is so different to anything we are familiar with. Russia still fits Winston Churchill's 1939 definition: "A riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma,"which perfectly describes the current Western sense of Moscow as the "other" - an inscrutable and menacing land that plays by its own rules. While relatively backward in economic development, Russia is a military superpower and though it has been demonised to a ridiculous extent by mainstream media recently, only a fool would seek confrontation.

Unfortunately while banner headlines scream a narrative about Russia's imminent invasion of Ukraine, the US and Europe's current hostile and provocative attitude towards Putin's Russia and its allies  is certainly founded on ignorance, short-termism, and the half - witted belief that Russian leaders will react in the same way as western leaders would to similar situations.

Russia has been accused of fomenting war with Ukraine and threatened wit an economic winter if it were to invade, although now, as in 2015 when this particular game was last played there is little evidence that Moscow intends to invade in spite of the large number of troops stationed perfectly legally on Russian soil close to the Ukrain border. Their presence is not new, they have been there since 2014, , maybe to deter the neo - Fascist regime in Kiev, which was installed after a democratically elected, pro - Russian government was deposed by a US / EU engineered colour revolution, from embarking on a campaign to rid Ukraine of its substantial ethnic Russian minority, or maybe to warn the powers behind that colour revolution that any attempt to enroll Ukraine as a member of NATO will be seen by The Kremlin as a threat to Russian security.

Another way of looking at the current crisis is that while demonising Putin and bigging up the threat of war creates another convenient monster and stoke up fear and insecurity to deter opposition to the idiocies of globalism and cultural Marxism, Russia has little to gain by attacking Ukraine. What Putin wants is a guarantee that Ukraine will not join NATO. Russian leaders have always worried about the vulnerability of their long southern border and to have the relatively large state lies on the other side of a significant chunk of that border join the Alliance The Kremlin sees as its main enemy is absolutely unthinkable.

The US State Department has already pushed Belarus, a nation led by the Russophile autocrat Alexander Lukashenko, out into the cold although with backing from Putin, Lukashenko survived an attempt to bring him down by unknown actors (the usual suspects) staging a colour revolution in 2020. Both Putin and Lukashenko have become major irritants to the west and an obstacle to those organisations promoting the cause of global government. But it is Western hostility to both these leaders and their nations that has worsened the current energy crisis and initiated a full-blown agricultural crisis and food shortages in the USA and some EU member states, particularly Germany.

These are grave unintended consequences indeed, and all current indicators suggest they are only going to get worse unless the western powers learn to stop meddling in the internal affairs of nations with governments Washington, London, Paris and Brussels do not like.

At the moment, while the US Administration <ATO and EU leaders are stirring up war fever over the imminent invasion, President Biden and the EU Commission are talking of no military response should Russia invade, but only economic sanctions. This policy would not deter a Russian invasion if Puting ever intended to actually invade, and greatly overestimates the  deterrent effect of sanctions in defusing any situation that might need to be defused. There are several powerful reasons to believe sanctions would have little effect on Russia and in fact wold probably harm western nations that depend on Russias gas and oil for energy more than they would hurt their target itself.

We must remember Russia has lived with economic sanctions since its 2014 annexation of the Crimea, yet the Russian economy remains stable if stagnant, propped up by massive foreign exchange reserves from oil and gas and its relatively low debt to GDP ratio. Ukraine, the pattern of events is fairly predictable.  Should the attack on Ukraine happen and  The West's response was to impose sanctions rather that offering military resistance, Putin would simply switch off Europe's gas supply and ban oil exports, and the continent would plunge into an economic crisis as a result.

Is The Russian Threat To Invade Ukraine Real Or A Globalist Conspiracy Theory?
The increasingly hysterical tone of propaganda coming from The USA's military headquarters, The Pentagon, and its much smaller equivalents in the rest of NATO's member states suggests that with the collapse of the COVID existential threat to humanity narrative those who believe global government and the imposition of police state regimes are somewhat desperate as their influence wanes.

The U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office gave relatively little information about the intelligence unveiled Saturday other than to say that the Russian government was considering trying to make a Russia-leaning former member of Ukraine’s parliament, Yevhen Murayev, the country’s new leader. Ukraine's Breakaway Donetsk Province Seek To Join Russian Federation.

As government propaganda from the USA and its NATO allies has spent most of the past three years demonizing Russia and trying to blame Vladimir Putin for the rise of nationalism in Europe, the election of Donald Trump as US President, Brexit, cyber attacks, the failure to resolve the crises in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, soggy bottoms on The Great British Bake Off and unpleasant smells, some more level headed commentators on world affairs have speculated on how long it would be before the leaders of the Donetsk and Lugansk breakaway regions would finalize their spilt with Ukraine by seeking to join the Russian Federation.

De-Dollarization: Russia Ratifies $100 Billion BRICS Bank
A BRICS Bank - as an IMF alternative and to enable nations to become less dependent on the global reserve currency - was originally discussed at The BRICS Summit in 2012. Then at the 2014 BRICS Summit, the framework for The BRICS Bank was approved as "a system of measures that would help prevent the harassment of countries that do not agree with some foreign policy decisions made by the United States and their allies.

Is The Russian Threat To Invade Ukraine Real Or A Globalist Conspiracy Theory?

The increasingly hysterical tone of propaganda coming from The USA's military headquarters, The Pentagon, and its much smaller equivalents in the rest of NATO's member states suggests that with the collapse of the COVID existential threat to humanity narrative those who believe global government and the imposition of police state regimes not much different to Big Brother, the oligarchical collectivism, the brutally repressive dictatorship envisioned by George Orwell in his dystopian novel '1984' are somewhat desperate as their influence wanes.

While many in the commentariat are engaged in the flagellation of a moribund equine (flogging a dead horse) as they try to prop up the deadly virus / vaccine messiah case others have been quick to sense the game is up for COVID and have set about creating a new scary monster, although what they have actually done is revive an old one in the hope that people have forgotten we've been down the same road many times before.

THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING is the new narrative, as military and political leaders on the FUKUS axis (France, UK, USA,)  talk as if Putin's troops have crossed the border and are already half way to Kiev. While it is true that The Kremlin has close to 100,000 troops stationed around Russia's long border with Ukraine the truth is a lot of them have been there for a considerable time.

It was 2014 in fact, soon after a colour revolution in Ukraine, engineered by NATO, the European Union and billionaire psychopath and political meddler George Soros, a mega - rich Marxist who has made no secret that he has worked to bring about the downfall of western civilisation, that Russia becan its military build up.

The revolution had replaced a highly corrupt, but democratically elected pro - Moscow Ukranian government with a bunch of neo - Nazi thugs who pledged to support Brussels and Washington in return for certain financial and military inducements. Two of the colour revolution's aims were to get Ukrain back on the path to joining NATO and gaining EU member status, both of which had been on the agenda before the democratically elected, corrupt, pro - Moscow government had defeated an even more corrupt, pro western government.

Yes, it is confusing, that's normal for east European politics.

Back in 2014 and 2015 this blog and our sibling publications were writing about Barck Obama whipping up hysteria over what he claimed was an imminent invasion of Ukraine by Russia, in an effort which fortunately failed, to drum up support for putting American and NATO troops into Ukraine. The justiification for that was somewhat stronger than the scare stories being peddled by poor, demented Joe Biden. In 2014, as the usurper regime in Kiev embarked on an ethnic cleansing programme to remove ethnic Russians from Ukranian territory, Putin annexed The Crimean Peninsula and massed troops along Ukraine's eastern border to deter Kiev from launching full scale military attacks on the beakaway, ethnically Russian region of Donbas. The region is still claiming independence from Ukraine and Russian trroops are still stationed along the border to ensure the Kiev government  do not get any ideas about a genocidal campaign against the rebels.

So will Russia invade, as Joe Biden and his propagandists suggest, (in fact The White House has suggested it is a question of when rather than if, with Wednesday 16 February 2022 emerging as the red hot favourite,) or is it the case that the globalist bid to enslave us all through lockdowns, mandatory vaccination and vaccine passports has crumbled because it became clear that the vaccines are at best totally ineffective and at worst dangerous to many people, while lockdowns and vaccine passports have cost more lives than they saved and they need a new bogeyman narrative to divert attention as they patch up their damaged credibility.

The jury is still split down the middle as of Monday evening. The USA and NATO are still insisting that Russia's invasion could be launched at any moment, Moscow consinues to insist that it has not intention of moving against the Kiev government. And we have little reason to believe either.

The idea that Putin has 100,000 troops at the border tells me nothing I did not already know, since the time of Ivan the Terrible Russian leaders have been paranoid about their southern border. When the incumbent US administration starts talking up the threat to American security from (_________, insert name of current US enemy,) that is jut business as usual, America is always at war with one nation, occupying another after a war and talking up the threat of war with yet another because the USA's Milistary / Industrial complext is too important to the economy for prolonged peace to be allowed. but the EU failing to evacuate Ukraine (despite the fact that the U.S. has) tells me another.

The EU has been sitting on the fence throughout because too many European nations are dependent on Russian gas, oil and coal supplies to risk The Kremlin cutting off supplies, or the USA imposing economic sanctions, which would hit US allies far harder than they would Russia. President Biden is supposed to speak with Vladimir Putin today - so m that’ll maybe yield further headlines, or who knows, I'm about to shut down for the night and go to bed. By the time I wake we could be caught up in World War 3.

On the other hand the latest updates on this story have diplomatic sources in the USA and UK suggest the two main cheerleaders for war are saying there is still hope for a diplomatic solution. From that we can surmise that the narrative for this threat is following the same path as the 2014 version of Imminent 'Invasion Of Ukraine By Russia,' i.e. after weeks of the NATO powers blustering about the threat posed to western civilisation by Russia having a large military force assembled on Russian territory lack of action will render the story no longer newsworthy and it will fade away.

The fact that Ukraine's leaders have been playing down the threat of conflict and without consulting Washington, Brussels or London have been working towards a negotiated settlement with Moscow tends to support this prognosis. There are of course many conspiracy theories in circulation, however most bear the fingerprints of propagandists working for people who feel they have something to gain by promoting the threat of war.

Failure Of US Democracy? Congress filled with ‘totalitarians’ who oppose ‘free market of ideas'?

In an interview with Russia Today, Daniel McAdams, executive director, Ron Paul Institute, set up by the maverick former congressman to further his libertarian ideas said there are members of Congress who don’t want anyone on TV saying America’s foreign policy is a disaster and it costs a fortune, RT. Investigative journalist Dave Lindorff reports.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the fiscal year 2018, which passed the US Senate earlier this week, carries some added provisions that have little in common with the military, as well as some provisions that appear to have little to do with defence spending.

Playing Poker With Obama: Putin’s Calculated Risk In Syria
I've said before that the reason Vladimir Putin outmanoeuvres the US State Department in every diplomatic skirmish is that while American's play poker, which is all about bluff, Putin plays chess which is all about strategy. Russian President Vladimir Putin had decided to risk the possibility of military clashes with the United States and its European Allies, Saudi Arabia, other major Muslim nations and Israel by intervening in Syria ...

WMD in Mayfair
Recalling yesterday's Machiavelli Blog which commented on events surrounding the unfortunate death of the alleged former Russian agent Alexander Litvinenko, it seems the murder investigation has now found evidence of many caches (well OK, traces) of radio active toxins in various fashionable establishments in London's West End frequented by former Russian intelligence agents.
