Hacked E mails Prove US, EU and NATO Policy Of Provoking And Escalating Conflict With Russia

Here's one in the eye for those silly Remnants who voted Remain in the hope of keeping Britain in the EU because "We were safer as part of the herd. As those of us who keep ourselves well informed on world political events have known for years, as tensions have risen betwen east and west and the world slid back towards cold war conditions, it was the west, the USA, NATO and the EU that were pushing for war, destabilising strategically important nations by effecting regime change and supplying terrorist groups with finance and weapons ...

Two weeks ago, while we British Bloggers were obsessing over Brexit, and countering the lies and scaremongering designed to keep us in The European Union a huge scandal erupted within another 'union' as Germany accused NATO of "warmongering" thus destroying US / EU / Turkey narrative that 'innocent' NATO was merely reacting to evil Russian provocations when it installed new missile bases close to Russian borders in Poland and Romania or held military exercises in Latvia just a few kilometres from Russian territory. Furthermore, as The Guardian reported, NATO accelerated its encirclement of Russia, with British soldiers deployed in Estonia, US soldiers operating in Latvia and Canadians in Poland, while combat units are being increased in the Mediterranean.

According to Deutsche Wirtschafts NachrichtenNATO claim it has found an excuse for war, having concluded that it now has grounds to attack Russia after concluding that if a NATO member country becomes the victim of a cyber attack by persons in a non-NATO country such as Russia or China, then NATO’s Article V “collective defense” provision requires each NATO member country to join that NATO member country if it decides to strike back against the attacking country.

Specifically, NATO is alleging that because Russian hackers had copied the emails on Hillary Clinton’s home computer, this action of someone in Russia taking advantage of Mrs. Clinton's criminal negligence in having privatized her U.S. State Department communications to her unsecured home computer and of such a Russian’s then snooping into the U.S. State Department business that was stored on it, might constitute a Russian attack against the United States of America, and would, if the U.S. President declares it to be a Russian invasion of the U.S., trigger NATO’s mutual-defense clause and so require all NATO nations to join with the U.S. government in going to war against Russia, if the U.S. government

Now, as The Intercept's Zaid Jilani and Lee Fang expose, retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove (yes an ironic name for a warmonger), until recently the supreme commander of NATO forces in Europe, plotted in private to overcome President Barack Obama’s reluctance to escalate military tensions with Russia over the war in Ukraine in 2014, according to apparently hacked emails from Breedlove’s Gmail account that were posted on a new website called DC Leaks .

As you might guess that one is going straight in my favourites list.

Having taken all that on board, we recall German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier's recent exclamation that "anyone who thinks you can increase security in the alliance with symbolic parades of tanks near the eastern borders, is mistaken," and given the 'proof' we link to above, that it is indeed NATO provoking conflict and warmongering, the unprecedented reality in which NATO's biggest and most important European member is suddenly and quite vocally against NATO and as a result may be pivoting toward Russian, while the second largest economy and most powerful nation in the European Union has just voted to leave, we can't wait to see just how this shocking geopolitical debacle for western neocons and war hawks concludes.

Oh BTW, on top of eight more EU nations demanding their own in / out referendums and US state Texas threatening to secede from the Union, the 'contaigion' from Brexit is moving further and faster than anyone could have expected.

Triumph For Justice Crusaders Boggart Abroad: Loretta Lynch Removes Herself From FBI Probe Of Hillary Emails

As we reported yesterday, on Monday evening US Attorney General and friend of Hillary Clinton Loretta Lynch, by pure conicidence, happened to meet Bill 'Shagger' Clinton on the tarmac of the airport at Phoenix Arizona. Being a courteous sort, Lynch invited Shagger to step inside her plane for a private meeting. We don't know what happened but subesquent events suggest they did not have a quick knee-trembler.

Now just as it was 'pure concidence that the husband of beleagured Democratic Party presidential nominee for the election later this year, Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Lynch happened to be in the same place at the same time, so it is pure coincidence that up to very recently Lynch has been overseeing the preparation of a case against Clinton for numerous breaches of law relating to state security while she was Secretary of State. These relate to the storing and handling of top secret emails on an unsecured server, which was hacked by people in the USA and abroad.

When questions were raised about the meeting and eyebrows were raised at the way Lynch and the Clinton camp tried to brush off suggestions that the meeting was out of order, Lynch promised the only things that were discussed were Bill's golf game and grandchildren, conservative watchdog Judicial Watch requested that the DOJ's Office of the Inspector General investigate the meeting. As The Hill reports, pressure is intensifying on Attorney General Loretta Lynch to remove herself from overseeing the investigation connected to Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

Calls for Lynch to step aside — which had already been simmering for months — appeared primed to boil over Thursday following the attorney general’s unscheduled, private meeting with Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton.

“Considering the ongoing criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton, this secret meeting between the Attorney General and Bill Clinton shows an astounding lack of judgment by Loretta Lynch,” House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) said in a statement on Thursday calling for Lynch to recuse herself.

“Given the culture of unaccountability in the Obama Administration, it is unlikely that Attorney General Lynch will heed the growing calls for her resignation,” he said. “But at a minimum, Lynch should immediately recuse herself from the Justice Department's criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s unlawful activities, and appoint a special prosecutor to handle the case, so the American people can know the truth about this secret meeting and finally rest assured the criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton is being conducted fully and impartially, without even the appearance of corruption.”

And, now, as AP reports, a Justice Department official said that Loretta Lynch intends to accept whatever recommendation career prosecutors and federal agents make in the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server.

"The Attorney General expects to receive and accept the determinations and findings of the Department's career prosecutors and investigators, as well as the FBI Director," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing probe.

Lynch was expected to discuss the matter further at a summit Friday in Aspen, Colorado.

This revelation comes amid a controversy surrounding an impromptu private discussion that Lynch had aboard her plane on the tarmac at a Phoenix airport on Monday with Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton. That get-together has been criticized as inappropriate by Republicans and some Democrats at a time when the Justice Department has been investigating whether classified information was mishandled through Clinton's exclusive use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.

Lynch told reporters that she did and Bill Clinton did not discuss the email investigation during the encounter.

The announcement also appeared intended to assuage concerns, particularly among Republicans, that Lynch — a Democratic appointee — might overrule recommendations from the agents and prosecutors who have worked on the case. Disputes on charging decisions between the FBI and the Justice Department are not uncommon, particularly in national security cases, though many legal experts see any criminal prosecution in this matter as exceedingly unlikely.

Decisions on whether to charge anyone in the case will be made by "career prosecutors and investigators who have been handling this matter since its inception" and reviewed by senior lawyers at the department and the FBI director, and Lynch will then accept whatever recommendation comes, the official said.

So by releasing this statement does that mean that Lynch routinely overrides other case recommendations from the FBI and DOJ staff? Also, based on the fact that the FBI may very well leak the facts of the case if the DOJ doesn't follow its recommendation, we will be able to learn whether or not Lynch is telling the truth. We won't hold our breath.

Trump Questions if Bill Begged Lynch to Spare Hillary During Tarmac Meeting

For over a year we have reported Hillary's Progress. Was Mrs. Clinton heading for The White House or the Big House. From what we've learned of the activities of 'Crooked Hillary' both as a public servant and the head of a multi million dollar 'charity' which performs charitable acts mainly for friends and associates of the Clintons and people who can be useful in Hillary's campaign for The White House.

Numerous other scandals have come to light too, for example: did Hillary perjure herself to saver her serial rapist husband from being convicted for sex crimes?

Right now it seems the biggest threat to Hillary's ambitions is not Donald Trump but the FBI as the investigation into her criminally negligent handling of state secrets while serving as Secretary of State draws to a climax. And as usual Hillary is relying on wealth and political contacts in order to avoid having to face justice and answer for her transgressions.

Following revelations that former President Bill Clinton had a private meeting with US Attorney General Loretta Lynch in the midst of his wife’s email investigation, presumptive Republican nominee Trump seized the opportunity to call foul on his Democratic counterpart.

Lynch has dismissed the controversy, insisting that the her brief conversation with Clinton on an airport tarmac in Arizona focused on social issues and small talk unrelated to Hillary Clinton’s email scandal. But that hasn’t prevented criticism from both sides of the aisle. First, as a personal friend of the Clintons, who has benefitted from their patronage, should Lynch have declared a conflict of interest and stood herself down from the 'Servergate' investigation?

Criticism of the private meeting came from both sides of American politics. Democratic Senator Chris Coons said, "I think she should have said, 'look, I recognize you have a long record of leadership on fighting crime but this is not the time for us to have that conversation. After the election is over, I welcome your advice and input,'" .

But, unsurprisingly Republican nominee Donald Trump has gone in hard:

"I think it’s the biggest story, one of the big stories of this month, of this year," the billionaire told radio host Mike Gallagher, adding that the meeting was "terrible."

"I’ve been talking about the rigged system, how it’s rigged and, you know, this is terrible…You see a thing like this and even in terms of judgement, how bad of judgement is it for him or for her to do this? I mean, who would do this?"

Who would do such a thing indeed. Some slack jawed hill billy low life who thinks its fun to stick a cigar up the minge of a junior employee and then put it in his mouth and make crass remarks maybe?

Hints Of Portuguese, Italian Bank Bailouts Suggest Europe Is In Trouble Again

Following Germany's petulant refusal to allow Italy to breach Eurozone regulations, and pump up to €40 billion in new capital into its failing banks, Italy has another cunning plan to bail out its insolvent banks. Reuters reports, the Italian government may have to inject capital directly into weaker banks to bolster their financial stability a government source said on Thursday, adding Italy's treasury was waiting for the results of stress tests being conducted by European banking authorities. The results of the tests are expected to be published at the beginning of the third quarter , i.e.
next week.

Reuters report Italian sources said the government was also working on a plan to increase the firepower of bank bailout fund Atlante, which was set up in April to help lenders raise cash and sell bad debt, by 3-5 billion euros ($3.34-5.57 billion) by the summer. The source said the government was in talks with private pension funds to seek additional contributions for Atlante.

Other contributions were expected to come from the state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and from a public company called Societa per la Gestione di Attivita.

And then, surprisingly, the EU appears to have flipped when Reuters headlines emerged suggesting that Europe would provide up to €150 billion for Italian banks"

Which, technically is none of them, but practically any bank can - after the sufficient non-GAAP adjustments - pass for solvent.

So is another major bank bailout event on the horizon? It appears so. And Italy may not be alone. In comments that were ignored by mainstream media yesterday, Germany's Schauble said that Portugal may soon need another bailout, saying "It would have to apply for a new program, which it would get. But the terms would be severe and it is not in Portugal's interests."

As Reuters reported, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble pressed Portugal on Wednesday to stick to its European fiscal targets and said that if it were to apply for a new aid program the terms would be harsh. Portugal's left-leaning acting government (which was imposed after an anti EU coalition won the last election but was prevented by Brussels from taking power,) has set out to reverse its predecessor's austerity policies, aiming to grow its way out of trouble by boosting demand and set an example for other post-bailout euro zone countries. So far there is no sign of the policy working.

"Portugal would be making a big mistake if it does not stick to its commitments," Schaeuble told a news conference in Berlin.

Pressed by journalists, Schaeuble stressed that Portugal would not need a new aid program if it sticks to EU rules. "They (the Portuguese) don't want it (a new package) and they don't need it if they stick to the European rules," he said. Portugal insists it will meet this year's budget deficit target of 2.2 percent, which is half last year's gap, and that no new measures will be necessary after solid budget execution in the first five months of the year. Schuble is recognised as a world class idiot of course, and he is playing to his strengths in ignoring the fact that it was EU rules that destroyed Portugal's economy in the first place.

As in the aftermath of the Brexit, with the European Union hurtling towards the abyss at close to the speed of light, Front National leader Marine Le Pen today pushed France a little closer to the exit. In both countries, opposition was massive, and other governments decided on the spot to halt the experiment for fear the contagion might spread. A few years later, the European Union constitution was forced on the people of Europe anyway, under the guise of the Lisbon Treaty. Eurozone To Fail? George Soros Bets €100m AGAINST Deutsche Bank

George Soros, the man lifted himself from ordinarily rich speculator to rank alongside the Rothschilds and Buffets of global finance, the people who can affect the destinies of large nations by trashing the Thai economy with a massive speculation against their currency, the Bhat, in the 1990s and who later "broke the Bank of England" took a short position of 0.51 per cent in Deutsche Bank shares on Friday - the day after the people of Britain backed Brexit. (what is short selling?)

It has been known for over a year that the failure of the European single currency and the insolvency of Europe's weaker economies that has cause has left German and French banks dangerously exposed to 'Club Mediterranean' debt. That in itself is a major problem for Germany, but the burden imposed on fedral and state budgets by mass immigration has left the German government little room to manoeuvre. With the number of alarm bells and flashing lights increasing every day to show that Angela Merkel's economy is struggling desperately and though the decision taken by Britain's voters to quit the failing EU has not helped, Germany's problems are much deeper than a short term consequence of Brexit. Soros Fund Management said immediately after the Brexit result its short position was now 0.46 per cent - suggesting it had begun to take profits from the trade.

However since the momentous decision, shares at Deutsche have dramatically slumped.

At one point, shares were down by more than 13 per cent compared with Friday's high point.

Banks across Europe have been left battered by Britain's decision to turn its back on Brussels in a historic referendum on June 23, but Deutsche Bank is especially troubled. The bank, which is undergoing a deep restructuring, has been hamstrung by the fallout from the financial crisis, posting a record loss of €6.8billion in 2015. Around a year ago, John Cryan took over as the bank's new CEO, with a clear mandate to slash jobs and costs.

Since then the bank's share price has dropped by nearly 60 per cent, making it one of the lowest-valued international banks.

The latest hit on Deutsche Bank's financial credibility comes after Soros, who made $1bn by famously positioning himself against sterling 22 years ago, said a British exodus from the bloc would make the eventual dissolution of the EU "practically irreversible". Soros, 85, said that Brexit was the final nail in the coffin for the EU.

George Soros made around £690m after his infamous bet that sterling was overvalued against the Deutsche Mark, which forced former Prime Minister John Major to pull the pound out of the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM). Short selling is a type of transaction that involves making forward contracts to sell shares, commodities, derivatives or currency that you don't have, at a certain price on a fixed date. The short seller is betting they can buy whatever is needed to fulfill the contract at a lower price than the agreed sale. One of the negative aspects of computerised trading is that it enables speculators to manipulate markets.

.Dutch Socialists Calls For Government To Review EU Treaties

The Dutch Socialist Party is calling for a complete review and renegotiation of current EU treaties, to give the people a voice by means of plebiscites on matters affecting sovereignty, independence and the political nature of the European Union, a Dutch senator said on Tuesday.

The Socialist Party is calling for treaty changes that will give citizens a chance to express their views on a new treaty on European cooperation," Tiny Kox said.

Commenting on the results of April advisory referendum on the EU-Ukraine association in the Netherlands and its subsequent review in the parliament, Kox noted that the country's government had little time left to consider the issue.

"Now, our government is running out of time, as Parliament awaits a final decision before summer holidays," Kox noted.

Over 61 percent of Dutch voters said no to the deal’s ratification, reflecting widespread unhappiness in most of northern and western Europe the the European Commission's plans to extend e U membership to nations in the middle east and north Africa. After the negative result of the national vote, the Dutch parliament rejected a proposal by the opposition to withdraw the ratification bill, providing the government with more time to review the matter.

The issue is likely to be raised at the two-day European Council meeting in Brussels due to start on Tuesday, though Brexit will dominate that meeting which may give the Netherlands politicians a little more time. Kox said that while speaking in the Dutch Parliament on Monday night, the prime minister refused to give clarity on the issue.

The European Union and Ukraine signed an Association Agreement in June 2014. It was formally ratified by all EU member states but the Approval Act for the ratification of the deal, adopted by the Dutch parliament in July 2015, has not entered into force yet.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has presented Eastern European EU members with an "ultimatum" for an EU superstate in the aftermath of Brexit, Polish news broadcaster TVP Info reported on Monday.

The plan, named 'A strong Europe in a world of instability,' was signed by Steinmeier and French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and presented to the Visegrad group of countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) at a meeting in Prague on Monday.
The leak has sparked fury and panic in Poland - a traditional ally of Britain in its opposition to the German led push for federalism - the fabled European Superstate - after being leaked to Polish news channel TVP Info.

The state owned broadcaster reported that the bombshell proposal will be presented to a meeting of the Visegrad group of countries - made up of Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia - by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier later today. However the angry reaction to the leak from member states may mean the plan is never officially published. As this blog said in our Daily Stirrer post, Rebellion Against EU Authoritarianism Escalates As 8th Member Nation Threatens Referendum the E U crossed a line some years ago when the organisation abandoned the pretence of being a free trade area and started moving towards bring the political empire its founders, many of whom had Nazi links.

Excerpts of the nine-page report were published today as the leaders of Germany, France and Italy met in Berlin for Brexit crisis talks. Here are some paragraphs translated from the original polish by Google Translate (not great English but you'll get the message):

Their idea of a new-look state includes a common defense, intelligence, judicial, migration and financial policy, al of which will establish a "European Security Compact" dealing with all aspects of security and defense at the European level.

They plan to increase the power of the European Public Prosecutor's Office's which had already been proposed to prosecute fraud and financial crime across the EU.

The Office will be expanded to include fighting against terrorism and organized crime, which "would require the harmonization of penal codes across Member States."

The EU's largest members also suggest nation states lose the right to run their own migration policy, including the imposition of migration quotas.

"There shall be no unilateral national answers to the migration challenge [ … ] Germany and France are convinced that it is high time to work towards establishing truly integrated European asylum, refugee and migration policy."

Responding to the plot Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said: "This is not a good solution, of course, because from the time the EU was invented a lot has changed.

“The mood in European societies is different. Europe and our voters do not want to give the Union over into the hands of technocrats.

“Therefore, I want to talk about this, whether this really is the right recipe right now in the context of recent events."

The revelation of the Franco - German plan for implementation of the pan - European bureaucratic dictatorship come just days after Britain shook the Brussels establishment by voting to leave the European Union in a move some have predicted could leave to the break-up of the EU.

A number of member states are deeply unhappy about the creeping federalism of the European project with anti-EU sentiments running high in eastern Europe, Scandinavia and France. Some figures have warned that trying to force through further political integration and the transfer of more power from democratically elected government to unelected bureaucrats goes against the wishes of the European people will only fuel further Eurosceptic feeling.

EU’s Juncker under pressure to resign after Brexit vote

Pressure is building on Jean-Claude Juncker to resign as President of the European Commission following the UK referendum, with the Czech Republic leading calls for him to “change the habits” of the executive after last week’s Brexit referendum in the UK.
Juncker is not the “right man for the job” and should resign, Czech Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek said on Monday (27 June).
The Czech minister said someone in the EU institutions should take “responsibility” for last week’s vote by British citizens to leave the EU.

“Right now I can’t see the European Commission chairman as the right man for the job,” Zaorálek told Czech television.

Asked whether Juncker had decided to resign or not, EU Commission chief spokesperson Margaritis Schinas said the answer was in two letters, and the first one was “N”.

Asked by EurActiv.com about the consequences of the Brexit vote on the European Commission, Schinas replied it was not the EU executive who called the UK referendum.

“So the ones who must draw conclusions from this are the ones who called the referendum,” Schinas said.

EurActiv spoke to other diplomats from Eastern Europe, who didn’t go as far as calling for Juncker’s resignation.
But one admitted his country could join a motion to sack Juncker at a two-day EU summit opening in Brussels tomorrow (28 June)

– “if there was such a motion”.

“The situation is changing by the hour. We need to send messages to our public that yes, we can change Brussels, so that it listens. There were many things done wrong and we must talk about that openly,” a diplomat from Central Europe told a group of journalists.
Juncker is blamed in particular for the harsh statements he made on Brexit – saying “out is out” – and his push to start divorce negotiations immediately with the UK.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel sees things differently and appears in no rush to pressure UK Prime Minister David Cameron to trigger Article 50, which would open a two-year negotiation process to withdraw Britain from the EU. She sees the possibility that to rush the process could destabilise Europe.

Turkey Will Not Be Admited To The EU But We Should Still Fight To Leave

Is Turkey going to join the European Union? Yes, it is, if you take our leaders' pronouncements at face value.
It is candidate country under the EU's enlargement strategy. Accession has been a mainstay of British foreign policy, and David Cameron has promised to pave the "road from Ankara to Brussels".
Next week, leaders are set to open a new accession chapter, covering financial and budgetary reform, while Dimitris Avramopoulos, the migration Commissioner, speaks of opening the door to the “European family.”
But is Turkey actually going to join the European Union? Of course not.
It has completed just one accession chapter out of 35 since applying for EEC membership in 1987, and David Cameron has claimed it will take until the year 3000. Britain, and all 27 other members, can deploy the veto on accession, and on both the opening and closing of each of the chapters.

Voters are right to be confused. And their confusion is not born of an ignorance of “the facts about Europe”, but of the unspoken rules of a vast and long-running parlour game.
EU enlargement was once a noble and straightforward affair. Led by British administrations, it allowed our friends in Poland, Latvia and Hungary to emerge from dictatorship, gallop through the convergence criteria (liberalising markets, ensuring free elections and judiciaries and so on) and declare their future as free and independent states rather than hobble on as satellites of Moscow.
That process has ground to a halt, the current Commission ruling out any new accessions until the end of its mandate in 2019, citing the need for consolidation.
Instead, enlargement becomes a tool for placing Europe’s neighbours in a holding orbit, with lukewarm intention of pulling them in.

In the Balkans - Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania – this means bolstering the hand of reformist leaders who can promise to bring voters closer to Europe, and disincentivising authoritarianism and the sort of behaviour that would reignite ethnic divisions.
But the EU’s progress report reveals that, to varying degrees, progress towards European norms is stagnant or sluggish: the rule of law faces “major challenges”, judiciaries are politicised, organised crime and corruption rampant. In some areas, reforms are “backsliding”, despite billions in assistance funds.
The broader strategic imperative is spelled out: “If the prospect of moving forward on the road to the EU is seen as real and credible, the risk of countries turning away from the EU will be mitigated.”

The "re-energising" of moribund accession talks this month was a low-cost bribe handed to Erdogan to wave at his voters, in exchange for it halting the flow of migrants over the Mediterranean.
This is the diplomacy of Magritte: Ceci n'est pas un pipe. Everyone in Brussels knows it is a charade, as did everyone in Ankara. (There were shades of Captain Renault as Ilnur Cevik, Erdogan’s chief adviser, told Newsnight that he was “really, really flabbergasted” that he had been “deceived” by Cameron, who in recent weeks has disowned Turkey).
Everyone, that is, apart from European voters. And if Britons decide today that they do not consent to playing along, it will be a major diplomatic catastrophe that risks at the minimum the fragile migrant deal, and could potentially trigger a dangerous unravelling of Europe’s southern neighbourhood.
