Hate-crime Laws Are An Attack On Free Speech And A Violation Of Human Rights

 Hate crime (whatever that is,) seems to be the only crime the police, the judiciary and the political establishment are interested in these days. But when some act or statement, either spoken or written, can be defined as a criminal act of 'hate speech' by anyone who decides they have been offended by it, is the means pf prosecuting the alleged offender anything to do with justice, or is it the weaponisation of law against freedom and human rights?

The vague nature of the term "hatred" means it is open to interpretation, probably based on perceived insults rather than objective crimes. This means it can be used arbitrarily by the police and the courts for political purposes and will be used by supporters of the 'woke' left, an extremist ideology supposedly supportive of minorities but which in reality works by oppressing the majority.

However, this should not be our main concern about the terrible new laws now in use against free speech and personal liberty in Scotland, Canada, Germany and soon to be passed into law in several other nations. 

It is likely the number of people going to jail because of such criminal laws will be small, especially given that prisons are already full to overflowing with real criminals, terrorists and people who have said climate change is not man made. The main problem is that anybody can log a "hate" incident online, anonymously if preferred, that will create a permanent record against someone's name, whether or not they are charged, a record which can be made known to a prospective employer, who will likely refuse such a person employment. 

This is a snitches charter, one of the methods used by tyrants since tyranny was invented. There is huge scope for malevolent and vexatious reporting of "hate" incidents, and the accused person may not even be aware of such a report. This is the truly evil aspect of this law, as it bypasses the normal legal processes of redress and denies a person the opportunity to defend themselves. 

A totally innocent person's life may be ruined simply because an anonymous report about them has been logged by somebody motivated by malice who puts a twisted interpretation on what, taken in its proper context, was an innocuous remark. There is no comeback for the accused person if that report is made maliciously because it can also be made anonymously.We may not even know the identity of our accuser or the nature of our offence, which is a blatant violation of the right to a fair trial.

Amidst some stiff competition from the likes of Scotland and Ireland and surprisingly perhaps, Nigeria, perhaps the most ill-conceived piece of web-related anti-free speech legislation currently being pushed through in the Western world today is Canada’s appalling Online Harms Act, a real pet project of the nation’s present simpering woke man-child PM, Justin Trudeau. So badly written is it, Canadian web-users may soon be seeking asylum in downtown Lagos, where they will probably be infinitely more free to speak their hateful little minds, whether specifically about tomatoes or otherwise.

Already eviscerated by the Daily Sceptic, the provisions of this Act have aptly been deemed “Orwellian” due to their incredibly illiberal provisions which, astonishingly, allow provincial Canadian judges to order individuals to be placed under house arrest if they deem there to be “reasonable grounds” to believe a person “will commit” an offence of “online harm” hate-speech in the future. That’s the basic plot of Philip K. Dick’s dystopian novella Minority Report come true; Minority Report 2 -Protected Minority Report? I see a blockbuster franchise in the making.

According to Trudeau’s Justice Minister and Attorney General Arif Virani, who is responsibe for drafting the Bill pushing the Act into law, who claims his motivation was that he was “terrified of the dangers that lurk on the internet for our children”. Aanybody who has read the history of the 20th century's great wars would be much more terrified of the dangers that currently lurk inside the West’s ‘democratic’ parliament assemblies for our freedom and Geneva Convention rights, Mr. Virani being a prime example of such hazards.

According to the mollifying mantras of individuals such as Virani, however, the harshest uses of Bill C-63, as it will be known, will supposedly be used very, very sparingly indeed – an offender would specifically have to portray a protected group (i.e., all the usual ones) as being “inherently violent” or “unhuman” to be prosecuted under threat of the greatest punishments available, to such an extent that their words could be considered to be advocating genocide. If somebody is found guilty of this particular offence, they might well be sentenced to life imprisonment.

Any reasonable person might assume that having given birth three times and brought up a family J K Rowling would know more than most people about what makes a woman a woman and certainly more than somebody who is merely addicted to surgery.

He probably never felt like a freak either, but the gap between what we feel and the reality of our circumstances can be quite wide.

But as our preparedness for any kind of military action, so the war talk increases in frequency and volume as conspiracy theorists high up in government and the World Economic Forum babble rabidly about \russia's plans to conquer Ukraine and march through Poland, Hungary, The Balkans and all the way to The Atlantic coastline in spite of there being no evidence that the Russians have ever thought about this. James Heappey, a former UK Armed Forces minister, has revealed that only Whitehall officials from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) bothered to take part in an exercise to find out how the country would be governed from the UK’s wartime bunker in the event of World War Three breaking out. Two weeks after quitting his government post, the Conservative MP and former Army officer urged ministers to prepare for conflict. He called on them to plan for commandeering land for cultivation to feed the nation and requisitioning consumer electronics for weapons. These comments were backed by Ben Wallace, the former defence secretary, who said there were “too many people” in the Government “relying on hoping” that the current instability would “go away”. Mr Wallace, who led the MoD until August last year, said it was time to “blow the dust off” plans drawn up during the Cold War on how Britain would be run during wartime. The criticism comes as the Government is reviewing its contingency plans for an all-out resulting from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and conflict in the Middle East. It is easy to place all the blame for the rundown state of our armed forces on the current government, but depletion of the military serivces and 'hollowing-out' of its capabilities goes back much further. I can't remember the details, or under which government it was, but, some time ago, the government decided that individual ministries would be 'taxed' by the Treasury for any assets they held in excess of those directly in use. For most ministries this was unimportant and merely encouraged good housekeeping. For the MoD, however, it was disastrous. First to go was any redundancy in the estate - so the spare barracks and accomodation went - some of which was then badly missed when withdrawal from BAOR took place. But, more damaging was the resultant disposal of 'war stocks'. Previously, all kinds of military equipment, arms and ammunition were kept 'just in case'. It all had to go, to be replaced with the principle of 'just in time' whereby, should conflict break out, new equipment, arms and ammunition would be provided direct from the manufacturers. The reason for this was to save money (of course) but, strategically, it meant that the armed forces had no ''depth' when it came to materiel and losses would not easily be replaced - at least until the last minute - assuming then that they were available and that we were first in the queue. It may be there is someone on here with a better memory (and more knowledge of the issue) than me who can write more on the subject with greater clarity. The point, however, is that this occurred probably about a generation ago - not during the lifetime of the current 'government'. Our unpreparedness is wider that just weaponry and manpower. The most important thing Britain could do to prepare for war, and to improve national securityty generally, would be to ensure that domestic sources of reliable and inexpensive energy are fully exploited. If the world is at war we will need all the energy we can produce to keep the nation and the war effor running. And as of now we are relying on importing about 20% of our ebegy via undersea cables from France, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Norway. And guess what target would be high up on Russia's list of targets. Fighting a war uses a lot of energy.., and chews through a lot of manufactured items.., which themselves require energy to build and maintain. There is no point in having an army without also having the weapons and ammunition for them to fight with. ]Successive governments over the past four decades have failed us in virtually every area of policy, claiming that they will take one course of action before usually taking the opposite route. They have done this time after time, betraying voters faith in, and turning our country it into a second-rate power! Sunak should resign, hold a leadership contest and then call an election to allow his party to face the nation under a new leader, possibly one who put Britain first rather than prioritising the interests of the World Economic Forum, the LGBTQ lobby and the Billionaire psychopaths of Silicon Valley. EU Technocrats Plan To Shut Down European Agricultural Industry

 Their aim is to shift food production to Ukraine and Third World Economies

European farmers will be protesting again this week, according to reports they will gather in Brussels on Tuesday to demand guarantees from the EU Commission that changes to policy will be made to ensure the European agricultural sector remains viable. They will also demand a relaxation of the reporting and regulatory regime, and for Brussels to abandon free trade agreements with countries outside the EU, which are now being used to bring cheap imports from Ukraine, Morocco and South America into European markets to undercut local produce. 

Because of the EU's committment to 'Net zero' and the ridiculously complex and expensive regulatory regime imposed by the EU, farmers in member states are finding imports from not EU sources are being sold more cheaply than equivalent goods can be produced locally.

One person was arrested and two police officers were injured in Brussels' European  last week during a farmers' protest which turned violent as demonstrators started throwing firebombs and debris at the cops. 

About 250 tractors from Poland, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, France and The Netherlands had arrived in Brussels in the early hours of Tuesday morning, in a new demonstration against policies which they say are driving them to bankruptcy. A ring of tractors circled Place du Luxembourg outside the European Parliament, where farmers milled around a blazing fire while "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees blared from loudspeakers.

Other tractors were used to create road blocks on several access roads around the European institutions, halting traffic along Rue de la Loi — one of the busiest thoroughfares in Brussels, which was shrouded in black smoke.

Farmers across Europe have been protesting for months against EU red tape, global trade deals and new green requirements under the bloc’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

It was a smaller demonstration than those organised earlier this year which blockaded Paris for three days, brought business to a standstill in Berlin and closed major seaports in Spain, but  as farmers threw objects including petrol bombs at police officers, set piles of hay and tires ablaze, dumped manure outside EU buildings, honked their tractors’ horns and set off firecrackers.

According to conservative Polish MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, who was one of the most vociferous supporters of that country's protests which closed the border with Ukraine for several days, the EU establishment is using moral blackmail by saying that in order to help Ukraine, the EU must open its borders to duty-free trade in agricultural goods. In reality, Ukraine needs more ammunition and money, and those are goods the EU cannot or will not deliver. 

Saryusz-Wolski added that the EU establishment is not trying to protecting its farmers, especially those on its eastern flank of NATO. The money derived from Ukrainian agricultural exports does not support Ukraine’s budget or war effort, but instead ends up in the pockets of its oligarchs or Western multinational companies, often registered in tax havens. It is difficult to argue against these points as EU Net Zero policy requires member states to cease farming activity and let agricultural land return to its wild state.

The Polish MEP believes that what is really at stake is the dismantling of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The main objective of the CAP was always to ensure food security for the whole of Europe by ensuring Europe is self-sufficient in food.

Today however, “the EU’s mainstream and the industrial and financial lobbies, especially that of Germany, want to move away from the original paradigm to be free of the need to finance the CAP,” said Saryusz-Wolski, adding "The EU wants, instead, to concentrate on new objectives such as net-zero."

Saryusz-Wolski is convinced that imports of agricultural produce from Ukraine and South America are to replace food production in Western and Central Europe, and that the issue of aid for Ukraine is a convenient smoke screen towards the goal of getting rid of the CAP.

Dystopia Watch: German Intelligence Chief Defends Efforts to Surveil Citizens “Thought and Speech Patterns”

The German Homeland Security Ministry, in stubbornly trying  to defend its controversial and widely criticised plans to control the speaking and writing engagements, and restrict the access to travel and economic activity of political dissidents (and their definition of political dissidents can mean members of mainstream political parties that oppose the ruling coalition.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), to use the agency's formal title is responsible for Germany's domestic intelligence service and political police, and has recently sacrificed substantial public respect due to this campaign which has included attempts to have the third largest party in Germany's elected assembly banned and declared a threat to democracy. 

According to a poll published last month, a majority of Germans believe that the BfV is being misused for political purposes.

The sentiment is prominent across all parties, except of course for the Maoist partner in the ruling coalition, The Greens, who believe that all is well with the Federal Republic and that the Peoples Republic of China is the benchmark for all the world's liberal democracies.

The creepy, dissolute and porcine looking BfV chief, Thomas Haldenwang, has penned an article for the Frankfurter Allgemeine to defend the undemocratic policies of his department and justify his plans to shape the “thought and speech patterns” of ordinary people through official repression.

The thing about “freedom of expression,” Haldenwang explains, is that it “is not carte blanche for enemies of the constitution”. Here's an extract:

Recently, public discourse has repeatedly featured headlines and articles calling the work of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) into question. There is talk of an “opinion police,” a “language police” and even a “Government security service”. They say the BfV discredits political opinions “on command” as extremist as soon as they depart from the social and political mainstream, or when they embark upon criticism of Government action or the work of the democratic parties.

One thing should be unmistakably clear: freedom of opinion prevails in Germany – and that is a good thing! Freedom of opinion is a fundamental element of our constitution and one of the greatest assets of our liberal democratic order. As such, it is also protected by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

“Freedom of opinion,” Haldenwang explains, is what “distinguishes a democracy from an autocracy or a dictatorship.” In the Federal Republic even expression of “offensive, absurd and radical opinions” are protected, as long as the language does not violate the law.

Within the law as it stands, however, there is a grey area that Haldenwang and his minders in the Interior Ministry get to define or to put it another way, as it stands the law does not stand still but may move in any direction that suits those who police it. Anyone who enters this zone of shapeshifting monsters and shivering sands,  may end up inviting the unwelcome attention of the political police even though no laws had actually been broke at the time of publication.

Put bluntly, there is clearly illegal speech on the one hand, and on the other hand there is speech which is alas not yet illegal, but which existing authorities will use all the administrative tools at their disposal to dissuade you from. Such speech, we might say, is pre-illegal, and only reluctantly permitted because the hurdles to banning it are too substantial. Under Germany's current shapeshifting law concerning freedom of speech, you become susceptible to surveillance and harassment by the BfV whenever you express opinions that suggest you are interested in “eliminating the free democratic order” of the Federal Republic. Your mere freedom of expression is “not a licence to evade observation and evaluation” by the political police if there are “factual indications” that your thought is tending in unconstitutional directions. And what are these unconstitutional directions? In a nutshell, disagreeing in any way with the policies of the ruling coalition.

Unsurprisingly, the scope of what is “unconstitutional” in thought and speech turns out very wide indeed. Were Herr Haldenwang, the head of Germany's Animal Farm BvF more honest he might clarify matters by saying, "All the animals are equal but some are more equal than others."
