The Sinister Agenda Behind Starmer's Plan To Introduce A Smartfone Based Digital ID System In UK.

 https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/DigitalIDStarmerUK.jpg?resize=300

A few days ago I signed a petition requesting the UK government to reconsider their plan to introduce a Digital ID system. At the time the petition had gathered 2.7 million signatures in a short time, and had vastly exceeded the threshold — 100,000 — for parliamentary consideration. The plans have been decried by political figures ranging from the hard Left (Jeremy Corbyn) to the populist Right (Robert Jenrick) and has sparked arevolt among Labour MPs. Keir Starmer and senior ministers in his (National?) Socialist government response by claiming that the new IDs, not cards but apps on a smartphone, are designed to control illegal immigration and prevent non citizens working illegally rather than to increase surveillance and tighten the control of the state on law-abiding citizens.

As a former lawyer who spcialised in immigration and international law (according to his CV,) it seems Starmer's Digital ID plan will be blocked by the ECHR over human rights issues.

Hardly anybody believes that claim of course, trust in government had collapsed beore even the cuurent lot took over from the previous clown show. But the more significant phenomenon is not the particular tendencies of this or that politician: it is the struggle of this government, and of all modern governments, to maintain control of information in an age when the internet has begun to pose a dangerous threat to that control. Today, information can be distributed far more easily, widely and quickly than in history’s most searing periods of revolution. It is a reality that traditional mechanisms of government find hard to accept — a discord that can have devastating consequences.

Seen through this lens, the recent flare-ups of the free speech debate — the arrest of Graham Linehan for repeating a scientifically irrefutable fact, the reprimanding of Starmer by Donald Trump over free speech in the UK, the introduction of the Online Safety Act — can all be understood as responses to the challenges to government posed by the new technology. Societies across the globe are still digesting an extraordinary change, and the crises spreading across the world are in part a reaction to it.

It is beginning to look as if if the whole migrant crisis was engineered  solely to provide a case for the introduction of Digital ID which can then be linked to tax, health records, policing and justice systems and many other databases. It is an idea that has ben around a long time. Blair wanted it. There was a massive campaign against. They had no plausible arguments for introducing it, but Brown even got to the point of putting forward a Bill. And one of the first things the incoming Conservative / Liberal Democrat coalition in 2010 did was to scrap it.

The first we heard of the “small boats” was almost immediately, during the Syrian Civil War, which started in 2011. And, despite massive public opposition, despite us leaving the EU's free-movement rĂ©gime, despite the obvious absurdity of people claiming asylum from France, despite the illegality of people whose claims have been rejected by recognised safe countries being allowed to claim again here, they keep on coming.

Of course this is pure speculation and I have no evidence beyond the circumstantial. But those circumstances are mighty suspicious. And honestly, once you bear in mind that we're talking about an Orwellian national identity database which the Prime Minister has openly stated will be used to decide whether or not you may be permitted to earn a living, is it really that absurd?

Digital ID is perfect for building Social Contract data for Governments to allocate Social points to allow its existing taxpaying subjects access to those Goods and Services previously available without too much interference and investigation. No longer is it sufficient to state that you are a Citizen of the United Kingdom, but you must be able to actually prove it and despite all Starmer’s waffle about it being nothing to worry about and those with a legitimate “Right” to work will get a job with or without the BritCard, how long before No Card, No Job, No Access to the NHS, No access to Welfare Benefits, No Access to a Bank or Building Society and ultimately how long before the Police demand to see your BritCard with the threat of arrest……….

This was never about immigration, it is about control.

World Economic Forum Calls for Merging of Human and Artificial Intelligence to Censor ‘Hate Speech’ & ‘Misinformation’

Despite the fact that they represent only the interests of big business, big finance and themselves, the oligarchs of the World Economic Forum are now calling for a policy of merging human and artificial intelligence systems so that computer chips implanted in our brain can edit and censor “hate speech” and “misinformation” online before it is articulated trough spoken of written word online.

Algorithms Are No Better At Telling The Future Than Tarot Cards Or A Crystal Ball
According to a new report “An increasing number of businesses are investing in advanced technologies that can help them forecast the future of their workforce and gain a competitive advantage”. Almost every day we see more bollocks being written by supposedly intelligent people who believe that by using things called ‘Data Science’, ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ and ‘Big Data’, machines can already be relied on to make better decisions than humans, and that soon computers will equal or even surpass us in actual intelligence. ... German politician calls on facebook to abolish free speech
A German politician has given the clearest indication yet that the political elites of the free world are ideologically much closer to Adolf Hitler's National Socialists than the social liberalism they claim to support. Free speech is the basis of all liberal democracy. Heiko Maas, the German justice minister has has written to the Facebook it removes “xenophobic and racist” anti-migrant posts from its website and apps., has written to the company to demand an urgent review of its policy over hate messages.

Free Speech Is Being Murdered By The Media And Left Wing Authoritarianism Without free speech there is no democracy. Without democracy there is no freedom. But all over the developed world free speech is under attack from politically correct politics. It is time to start resisting, do not believe the propaganda published by mainstream media, question everything and make up your own mind. as The Buddha said, "Believe nothing you read or are told unless it agrees with your own experience and common sense."

Farage Reckless Facing Rabid Left Wing Fanatics
Following the defection to UKIP of Conservative MP Mark Reckless, who yesterday shocked the media and political establishment (everyone else knew it was on the cards.) by announcing his switch from con to Kipper from the podium at the closing session of UKIP's conference, the Kippers latest recruit and his new leader yesterday faced angry but ineffectual protests.

Obama administration ‘blocking' information from the press
Uncovering information that should be available to the public has become increasingly difficult under the presidency of Barack Obama, an Associated Press bureau chief says. In some cases, it surpasses the secrecy of the George W. Bush administration. The White House's penchant for secrecy does not just apply to the federal government, according to AP's Washington bureau chief, Sally Buzbee.

Is The Internet Killing Democracy?

by Arthur Foxake, 10 April 2024

What is happening to democracy in Europe? While we in England laugh at the contortions of the Scottish and Irish governments as they attempt to justify to an already alienated voter base their authoritarian policies, notably the 'hate speech' laws that are so loosely drafted anyone in either of those countries could fing him or herself in prison for saying anything about anything, we ourselves are watching a long established political party tear itself apart as it tries to appease noisy but numerically insignificant minorities by yielding to their 'woke demands while simultaneously attempting to convince ordinary voters that accepting unlimited numbers of unskilled, uneducated, unemployable illegal immigrants, tailoring economic and energy policies to the loonytoons ambitions of far - left ideologues and a person can change sex if they click their heels three times and wish.

Germany, until recently the economic powerhouse of the European Union is now 'The Sick Man Of Europe', overwhelmed with unskilled, uneducated, unemployable illegal immigrants, its manufacturing industry in a state of collapse and its political establishment in disarray to the extent that the ruling coalition of the left, loony left and centre right paries is seriously considering banning the most popular opposition party. Spain has a far left government led by the socialist party, which even in coalition with other left wing parties cannot command a majority in the national assembly and therefore cannot govern effectively.

Having held a general election last November in which Geert Wilders' Freedom Party became the largest bloc in the assembly and parties of the right gained a comfortable majority, the country still does not have a government as EU officials and members of the outgoing government do all they can to prevent a right of centre coalition forming.

In the political Grand Guignol of French politics and the Commedia del Arte of the Italian version chaos rules, in other words business as usual while in Poland, last of the large population European Union member states Europhile leader Donald Tusk is busy having political opponents arrested and jailed and criminalising criticism of himself and his government.

In Sweden a ruling coalition, led by the Moderates party is trying to push through a Left-leaning reform that some significant parts of the Left do not want, and over the stringent objections of many politicians in parties that are part of the government coalition, and also in blatant contempt of the majority opinion of Swedish voters. Confusion thus abounds: why would the Moderates spend all this energy on an issue that only promises to make their own voters feel dismayed?

Sweden today is governed by the Right, not the Left, and it is the centre - right Moderate party that is implicated in pushing this law through. The prime minister of Sweden — Ulf Kristersson — is thus leading the effort to lower the age at which one can change one’s legal gender from 18 to 16, even as a massive majority of his own voting base are against this change. To further inflame things, his parliamentary group is also opposed to it, although it is being whipped to vote in favour. And to top it all off, some of the strongest objections to the law are coming from the Left, where there are deep concerns about its promises to make it easier to access irreversible surgery.

Viewed in perspective it becomes obvious that this sort of political clown show fits into a wider, pan-European pattern. The ruling elites are totally out of touch, not just with the voters, but out of touch with reality, they are living in a different dimension. As a politician, it’s easy to think that your job is first and foremost to be seen doing something, almost regardless of whatever that “something” ends up being, but the general public are no so easily fooled.

It really feels like the whole show is now grinding to a halt or is just about to collapse in a mess of its own contradictions.

I’m sure the politicians feel just as moribund as we do and can barely muster enough energy to lie to us all again.

Meanwhile a bunch of unelected old farts known as the ECHR (European Convention on Human Rights,) who have form for judicial meddling in political matters, has told some old biddies in Switzerland that they can hold their government responsible for ‘not doing enough to combat climate change’ and sue for compensation (‘enough’ being just how much exactly?).

And if you think things are bad in Europe, take a good long look at America.

But what has got us into this mess? What is killing democracy in so many ways throughout the developed world? The Elephant in the room is The Internet and more specifically Social Media, along with the ability to surveil and censor us that these technologies give officials who have control freak tendencies.

It was commonly believed in the early days, when the cult of the amateur ruled in cyberspace, that universal access to the net might enhance democracy by giving ordinary punters access to information they would not normally see, but instead it appears to have become a source of contagion; with political ideas framed to support certain agendas being spread as if factual information (misinformation) that have weakened our defences to fake news and manipulation of the truth, with the consequences now becoming more clear.

However were we to focus on one cause it would be the growth of the regulatory / legal complex: the endless increase in the number of rules, regulators, lawyers and compliance officers supported by the entrenchment of ever more rights and ever more intrusive courts that the new media with its promise of free access to information and the freedom to publish our own thoughts, opinions and ideas has spawned.

All this has raised process above substance and increased the number of people who can prevent or slow any action. Not only politicians have been disempowered and encouraged to focus instead on purely symbolic or identity politics. The paralysis is creeping into many organisations. During the early days of the Covid crisis, hospitals were amazed by how much they could achieve in days once they had suspended the usual rules and started to operate on common sense.

It has been argued that the great achievement of the French Revolution was that it enabled the destruction of the paralysing mishmash of privileges and laws that made France ungovernable and decisive reform impossible. It was replaced by the simplicity of the Code Napoleon and the decisiveness of his government.

So it is possible. Let us hope we can work out how to dismantle the administrative state without needing the accompaniment of such liberal use of the guillotine

UK Quietly Passes "Online Safety Bill" Into Law

Authored by Kit Knightly via Off-Guardian.org,

Buried behind the Brand-related headlines yesterday, the British House of Lords voted to pass the controversial “Online Safety Bill” into law. All that’s needed now is Royal assent, which Charles will obviously provide.

The bill’s (very catchy) long-form title is…

A Bill to make provision for and in connection with the regulation by OFCOM of certain internet services; for and in connection with communications offences; and for connected purposes.

…and that’s essentially it, it hands the duty of “regulating” certain online content to the UK’s Office of Communications (OfCom).

Ofcom Chief Executive Dame Melanie Dawes could barely contain her excitement in a statement to the press:

“Today is a major milestone in the mission to create a safer life online for children and adults in the UK. Everyone at Ofcom feels privileged to be entrusted with this important role, and we’re ready to start implementing these new laws.”

As always with these things, the bill’s text is a challenging and rather dull read, deliberately obscure in its language and difficult to navigate.

Of some note is the “information offenses” clause, which empowers OfCom to demand “information” from users, companies and employees, and makes it a crime to withhold it. The nature of this “information” is never specified, nor does it appear to be qualified. Meaning it could be anything, and will most likely be used to get private account information about users from social media platforms.

In one of the more worrying clauses, the Bill outlines what they call “communications offenses”. Section 10 details crimes of transmitting “Harmful, false and threatening communications”.

It should be noted that sending threats is already illegal in the UK, so the only new ground covered here is “harmful” and/or “false” information, and the fact they feel the need to differentiate between those two things should worry you.

After all, the truth can definitely be “harmful”…Especially to a power-hungry elite barely controlling an angry populace through dishonest propaganda.

Fan Bois Mad For Apple's New "FaceID" But Is It A Powerful New Mass Surveillance Tool

On Tuesday, Apple revealed their newest phone. The new line was anticipated by Apple users and is another cult favorite. But many are rightly skeptical of the “FaceID” feature.

Is Switzerland About To Become First Country To Outlaw A Cashless Society?
As in neighboring Germany and Austria, cash is still king in Switzerland albeit a much diminished one. But the Swiss will soon have the chance to vote on whether to preserve notes and coins indefinitely.

Negative Interest Rates & The War On Cash, Part 3: "Beware The Promoters"
Bitcoin and other electronic platforms have paved the way psychologically for a shift away from cash, although they have done so by emphasising decentralisation and anonymity rather than the much greater central control which would be inherent in a mainstream electronic currency. Despite the loss of privacy, electronic currency is much favoured by techno-optimists, but not so much by those concerned about the risks of absolute structural dependency on technological complexity.

Beware the dangers of a cashless society
As the country celebrates tradition and prepares for change, one major shift is closer than ever – our move towards becoming a cashless society. Google's Sneaky Move To Steal More Of Your Personal Life

Google is planning to move its British users’ accounts out of the control of European Union privacy regulators, placing them under US jurisdiction instead, the company confirmed on 19 February. The shift, prompted by Britain’s exit from the EU, will leave the sensitive personal information of tens of millions with less protection and within easier reach of British law enforcement. But it won’t end there.

Alphabet Inc’s Google intends to require its British users to acknowledge new terms of service including the new jurisdiction.
Nothing about our services or our approach to privacy will change, including how we collect or process data, and how we respond to law enforcement demands for users’ information,” Google said in an emailed statement. “The protections of the UK GDPR will still apply to these users.” If that was true, they would leave it where it was and not go to the expense. This is just the start of much more to come.
Unsurprisingly, a spokesman declined to answer questions.

Mission creep

The British state is the West’s worst offender for breaches of privacy, mass surveillance and using its secretive 360-degree architecture of civilian supervision and control. For the government, more surveillance and gathered data is better, not worse. But Google’s announcement will be followed by the other big tech firms and digital startups will look upon the UK as an increased opportunity to make money from fewer safeguards.

It was only a two months ago that the Times reported that a leading British trade economist had warned that NHS patient data will be exploited by US technology companies under a trade deal with America. Alan Winters, director of the Trade Policy Observatory at Sussex University, said clauses on data sharing and algorithms that US negotiators want inserted into a deal will be used to capture the value in NHS patient records, estimated at £10 billion a year ... They way Google has come to dominate the internet just as the internet has come to dominate our lives can't all be down to good luck and careful planning can it? As this page develops you will see how sinister forces guided Google to their current position.

How Google Destroyed the Internet

The idea of the internet was that it would be a communications tool that freed information by making all public domain documents, libraries and archives accessible for everyone. Unfortunately the corporate monopoly men of Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon and Facebook and political control freaks had other ideas.

Computers will have developed “common sense” within a decade and we could be counting them among our friends not long afterwards, one of the world’s leading AI scientists has predicted. Professor Geoff Hinton, who was hired by Google two years ago to help develop intelligent operating systems, said that the company is on the brink of developing algorithms with the capacity for logic, natural conversation and even flirtation.

Can We Escape 'The Wire'?

The Wire is simply a metaphor for the transmission of information.  The Wire takes many forms.  And if you aren’t sure whether something is The Wire just ask if you have control over it or not.
The Internet?  The Wire.
Electricity?  The Wire
Roads?  The Wire.
Media?  The Wire.
Money?  The Wire.
In short, The Wire is the main conduit through which we communicate with each other.

Money?  Really?  Yes, really.  What are prices if not information about what we are willing to part with our money in exchange for? And the push to dump banknotes and coins and move to a cashless society. A ploy for greater control, that's all. Cashless will mean every financial transaction with be tracked and recoded via, you guessed it, The Wire.

Without The Wire modern society fails.  So, government can’t shut it down but neither can it allow unconstrained access to it. In other words we have been duped into handing control of our lives to the people who control The Wire. And they're not nice people.

Electricity, commerce, communications, entertainment, everything, goes over The Wire.

This isn’t a radical concept but like all important ideas, once it is presented to you you can’t unsee it.

But, identifying The Wire isn’t the important thing.  What’s important is knowing who controls The Wire and what they are willing to do to maintain that control.

If you look at the lists above you will see massive government intervention into these markets.  They need control of them to maintain the illusion they have control over you.

They sell you on the idea that speech, speed, education, commerce, defense, information, etc.  all need to have sensible limits placed on them.  But do they really or is this just yet another example of some control freak bureaucrat expanding his or her empire?

Look around you today and tell me what all the fighting is about.  Geopolitics, domestic policy, censorship, money, advertising, ideologies, etc.  They are all about the existential threat posed by a loss of control of The Wire.

Facebook Is Falling Apart so Fast We Can't Keep Up

Anyone who reads The Daily Stirrer regularly will know we have never been fans of Facebook, Google or any of the other multi - billion dollar internet corporations which operate business models based on abusing users privacy. We have always predicted retribution would one day be delivered when the public finally woke up to how these companies trick users into revealing personal information about themselves and all their friends and contacts, and then try to use that data to manipulate the way users behave.

It seems retribution has arrived for Facebook at least, after a year of alienating public opinion through a series of public relations disasters, a new scandal seems to be the straw that broke the Camel's back.

US Senator Demands Zuckerberg ‘Be Subpoenaed’ to Testify Under Oath

from The AntiMedia

As the damning details of Facebook’s largest-ever data breach at the hands of pro-Trump data firm Cambridge Analytica continue to pour in — and as the social media giant’s share price continues to plummet as a result—Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) on Monday called on CEO Mark Zuckerberg to “testify under oath” before Congress to explain why his company took so long to notify users that their information had been compromised.

“Zuckerberg ought to be subpoenaed to testify if he won’t do it voluntarily,” Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told reporters late Monday, echoing demands of other lawmakers. “He owes it to the American people who ought to be deeply disappointed by the conflicting and disparate explanations that have been offered.”

Blumenthal’s request comes amid growing calls — both in the U.S. and overseasfor Zuckerberg to answer for his company’s failure to ban Cambridge Analytica in 2015, when the platform first, discovered that the personal information of millions had been harvested in violation of company policy.

Since details of Cambridge Analytica’s exploitation of Facebook were published by the New York Times and the Observer over the weekend, the social media giant has downplayed the incident, argued that it doesn’t constitute a data breach at all, and maintained that Cambridge Analytica is solely to blame for the improper harvesting of personal data.

But privacy advocates have argued that while Cambridge Analytica should be held accountable for its actions, Facebook cannot be let off the hook.

Facebook Lost $50 Billion in Market Value In Two Days Over Privacy Scandal

The scandal that has hit Facebook over IT firm Cambridge Analytica using Facebook to trick users into revealing information in exactly the same way as Facebook itself pulls off the scam has hit Facebook investors where it hurts most — in their bank accounts.

Investor confidence hhas been hit too, as the world speculates on which of Facebook's many unethical business practoces will be put under the microscope next. Last Friday, before the full impact of the story was felt, the social media giant’s closing stock price was $185.09, making it worth about $538 billion, vastly overvalued for a company that has never paid a dividend, but but sanity and stock market valuations for tech corporations never had a working relationship. The scandal went viral over the weekend as it emerged thatdata consulting firm Cambridge Analytica, which worked with Donald Trump on the 2016 election, had allegedly obtained unauthorized access to some 50 million Facebook accounts.

The effects were felt immediately, and not just in the area of privacy concerns. Facebook shares tumbled nearly seven percent on Monday. That’s a loss of about $35 billion in market value, making it the worst day of trading the company has seen in four years.

The slide continued on Tuesday, spurred on by the news that the Federal Trade Commission will launch an investigation into the handling of user data and calls from lawmakers for Facebook executives to testify before Congress on the subject.

The further 2.6 percent drop, which put the stock price at around $168, means that Facebook lost roughly $50 billion in market value over the course of two days. That’s after slightly recovering from an even further dip of around six percent.

But it’s not just the company as a whole that’s hurting. The Cambridge Analytica debacle is affecting the man at the top, as well. CNBC reported on Tuesday:

“Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth status has changed — he’s lost more than $9 billion in stock wealth over the past 48 hours." Well it couln't have happened to a more deserving piece of shit.

Lawsuits Accumulate As #DeleteFacebook Movement Grows

After the mayhem of earlier this week, Facebook must have hoped things would start to stabilise on Wednesday as CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he would publicly address the company's relationship with Cambridge Analytica some time during the next 24 hours.

At the same time however, another lawsuit has been brought against the company, the second since the New York Times and the Observer reported over the weekend that the company had failed to stop CA from using data improperly gathered from tens of millions of users, a Maryland woman sued Facebook Tuesday in a San Jose, Calif. court. Her suit was filed on behalf of other Facebook users whose data were accessed by CA without their explicit permission, Bloomberg reported.

Zuckerberg, the company's founder and CEO said the delay in his making a statement was due to his desire to say something "meaningful" rather than delivering a quick, boilerplate comment, Axios reported.

On Tuesday, a group of Facebook investors filed a lawsuit against the company in a San Francisco federal court. The class action claims investors had suffered losses after the company disclosed that it had severed ties with Cambridge Analytica after blaming the company for "misleading" Facebook by saying it had deleted a cache of user data, when Facebook says it actually kept the data. CA has denied the allegations and said it didn't use Facebook data for its work on the 2016 Trump campaign. Investors who purchased shares of Facebook between Feb. 3, when it filed its annual report and cited security breaches and improper access to user data, and March 19, the Monday after the exposes were published, are eligible to join the lawsuit.

Throughout that period, “defendants made false or misleading statements and failed to disclose that Facebook violated its own data privacy policies by allowing third parties access to personal data of millions of Facebook users without their consent,” according to the complaint.

As Bloomberg explains, investors have a strong case so long as they can prove their decisions to invest in Facebook were based on false or misleading information released by the company. By not policing app developers' use of its users data, it could be argued that Facebook misled investors about how it handled and safeguarded private user data.

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey has opened a civil probe into the company and Connecticut AG George Jepsen has sent a written inquiry to answer questions about Cambridge Analytica. The Federal Trade Commission has also opened a data-privacy investigation into the company.

European Union Justice Commissioner Vera Jourova plans to meet with Facebook officials in Washington on March 21. She called the data misuse "horrifying, if confirmed" and "not acceptable."

Four days after the allegations first surfaced, #DeleteFacebook started trending on Twitter late Tuesday as users complained about "trust issues" regarding how the company shares their personal data. It gained a notable booster when WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton tweeted that the time has come for Facebook users to delete their accounts.

FBI Vows To Go Public If Obama Blocks Indictment Of Hillary

As we have been reporting, Barack Obama's anointed successor Hillary Rodham Clinton is in big trouble over the casual way she handled top secret emails while serving as Secretary of State. The only thing saving Hillary right now is the protection being given her by The Obama Administration. However, if Obama’s Attorney General, Loretta Lynch, does not follow her oath of office and indict Hillary Clinton, FBI investigators will go public with their findings, according to former US House of Representatives majority leader Tom DeLay.

On The Steve Malzberg Show on Monday, 13 June, DeLay repeated a previous claim that the FBI is ready to indict the former Secretary of State on criminal charges related to 1,300 classified documents stored on a private email server.

"They’re ready to recommend an indictment and they also say that if the attorney general does not indict, they’re going public," the Texas Republican told the radio host, "one way or another either she’s going to be indicted and that process begins, or we try her in the public eye with her campaign. One way or another she’s going to have to face these charges."

Malzburg also talked with former Attorney General Michael Mukasey on Monday. He said Obama may direct Lynch to not indict Clinton and if he did it would result in Watergate-level resignations.

“The fact is that the president can direct the attorney general not to bring charges. The attorney general works for the president and the president can order that … Although I can’t believe that you wouldn’t get people resigning in the wake of something like that, the same way that we did at the time of Watergate,” Mukasey said.

Having refused to release the documents despite long-standing Freedom of Information requests The State Department finally released a small batch of heavily redacted documents following several court orders. Wikileaks however (and presumably the FBI also) have around 30,000 documents from Clinton's private server that were circulated during her time at the State Department.

In addition to messages marked 'clasified' relating to national security, documents contained in a Wikileaks email dump revealed conflict of interest issues between Clinton’s official duties as secretary of state and “pay to play” schemes with the Clinton foundation.

Since the story emerged over a year ago, mainstream media media has played down the allegations, conveniently forgetting that while she was in charge of the state department Mrs. Clinton destroyed the careers of several senior military officers, ostensibly for more trivial offences than she now stands accused of, but according to Washington insiders, probably because they stood up to her bullying and authoritarianism. With the exception of Fox News and the alternative media, she has also been given an easy ride on allegations of corruption within the Clinton Foundation, the multi - million dollar charity she heads, which seems to spend little on charitable works and a lot on cronyism and handing out sinecures to allies and people the Clintons seek favours from.

Inexplicably many Democrat voters say they will vote for Clinton regardless of criminal charges.

Little-Known Facebook Feature Causing Users to Think Twice About What They Say

(May 26, 2016: Clarice Palmer : ANTIMEDIA reproduced under Creative commons licence)

The debate over Internet privacy and the responsibility social media companies should carry in protecting user privacy never ceases to spark controversy — among both users and tech insiders. But while Facebook, one of the most popular social media networks, struggles with accusations of news suppression and even fraud, a new report on the network’s microphone settings is reigniting past fears of surveillance that were never fully addressed.

According to University of South Florida Professor Kelli Burns, Facebook is a huge part of the lives of smartphone users. Due to this widespread addiction, Burns explains, “Anytime you’re using your phone, any kind of information that you’re putting into your phone, looking at on your phone, Facebook can access that.” But details regarding what you’re doing or what you’re browsing while on Facebook are not the only type of data the Silicon Valley giant can access. The social media’s microphone feature, which can be enabled by the user via Facebook’s settings, is also listening.

A few months back, a Facebook user took their concerns over the microphone settings to Reddit. The post quickly went viral, prompting Facebook to issue a statement on the matter. According to the social media network, the company does not “record your conversations.” Instead, the statement claimed, if the user chooses to turn the microphone feature on, Facebook will “use your microphone to identify the things you’re listening to or watching based on the music and TV matches we’re able to identify. If this feature is turned on, it’s only active when you’re writing a status update.”

But According to ABC’s WFLA, Burns might have been able to prove Facebook isn’t telling the whole story behind this technology.

From the publication:
We tested the theory with Kelli, and even we were surprised by what we found and saw.
“Kelli enabled the microphone feature and talked about her desire to go on safari, right down to her mode of transportation. ‘I’m really interested in going on an African safari. I think it’d be wonderful to ride in one of those jeeps,’ she said aloud, phone in hand.

“Less than 60 seconds later, the first post on her Facebook feed was a safari story that seemed to pop up out of nowhere. Turns out, it was a story that had been posted three hours earlier. And, after mentioning a jeep, a car ad also appeared on her page.”

This test, the news organization contended, demonstrates how Facebook picks up “buzz words” in order to show that particular user ads and posts matching their interests. The fact the professor made those comments after turning the feature on may serve as an example of how easily Facebook can trick users into giving the company access to their private conversations.

Though Facebook claims it does not store or share user information, the very existence of the technology may give hackers, including government-backed security experts, a reason to explore private data further, putting the privacy — and even safety — of Facebook users in danger. What’s more concerning about this issue is the company’s previous association with the U.S. National Security Agency’s PRISM program, which gave federal agents access to users’ private data, including, emails, photos, and instant messages, among other things. While Facebook’s more recent claims concerning user privacy regarding the microphone feature might be legitimate, the company’s former cooperation with NSA officials could indicate the feds may seek to explore the microphone feature — whether Facebook agrees with them or not.

Smart TV manufacturers like Samsung have recently been forced to publicly address privacy concerns after news broke the technology was listening to users’ conversations. As the same users learn Android Smart TVs may also present vulnerabilities that give hackers the ability to record what they do, other members of the tech industry, like Facebook, might also face growing obstacles and skepticism from users.

In contrast, though Apple has aligned with the federal government in at least one case, the company was widely praised for standing for privacy rights in a legal standoff involving the FBI over the San Bernardino shooter’s iPhone. But unlike Apple, whose hesitation regarding lobbying practices has earned negative attention from Congress in the past, Facebook has a relatively cozy relationship with Washington. Whether this relationship is mutually beneficial to both parties — and whether Facebook will respond like Apple has — remains to be seen.
