Burnham's Brexit Babbling Backfires As Russian Interference Claim Falls Apart And Public Backlash Stifles Rejoin Propaganda

 

 

For over a decade Euro Federaliosts have tried to claim  that Britain didn’t actually mean to vote for Brexit. From the original Remain camp's claim in the aftermath of the 2016 referendum result being announced and they spread stories that voters were too stupid to understand what we were voting for (did they think we were all confused we actually put our mark in the wrong box on the ballot paper?) to this week's statement by Prime Minister Andy Burnham that we were duped by 'Russian interference' as he tried to build a case for, if not actually rejoining then at least seeking closer ties with the EU

 Judging by his additional claim that he had seen concrete evidence of this Russian attempt to meddle in UK democracy, it is a conspiracy theory to which Andy Burnham is himself subscribes. maybe only as a distraction from local problems as the pound falls on currency exchanges and the bond markets lose confidence in his leadership. 

Unfortunately it is bollocks. Speaking in London on Monday, Sir Ken McCallum, the head of MI5, confirmed that Russia sought to influence the Brexit vote, but added that all the evidence points to the effort being poorly organised and having no impact on the outcome of the vote. Drawing a vital distinction, he declared that it is “important to focus on the difference between what may have been attempted and what actually resulted”.

Indeed, but EU and UK leaders seem besotted with the idea of war with Russia which is perhaps why Burnham's next attack of foot-in-mouth syndrome involved pledging Britain's continuing support of the neo Nazi regime in Ukraine hours after Trump indicated he is ready to abandon the Ukies, having realised they don't want peach, they just want to kill Russians. 

Sir Ken went on to suggest that revisiting the debate on Moscow’s supposed influence over Brexit was itself problematic. He told news reporters the Russian trolls will be “delighted they are front page news once again despite the comparative unimpressiveness of what they do at all points along the journey”.

He may be off track talking about the unimpressiveness of attempts by Russia to affect western nations when the US/NATO/EU economic sanctions aimed at ending the war in Ukraine backfired spectacularly and harmed the economies of the nations that imposed them rather than the one they targeted. 

Mr Burnham has since been forced to back off his statement and tone down rhetoric about rejoining, but he should have been clear: Brexit was not the result of some Russian information coup. The Leave vote had been brewing for years, as the public tired of Brussels dictating British laws, stymieing the country’s freedom, preventing proper control of its borders, and holding back the economy – particularly in those left-behind areas New Labour so ignored. It is globalists who think Britain should join the EU, not isolationists like Putin.

We Must Hope Mad Ed's Move To The Foreign Office Will Mean The End Of UK Governmednt's Net Zero Obsession

A decade ago, the leaders of the UK's three main political parties, David Cameron (Conservative), Nick Clegg (Liberal Democrat) and Ed Miliband (Labour) signed a pledge that effectively moved the issue of climate and energy policy out of the democratic process.

Although it was not yet enshrined in law, this agreement opened the way for Theresa May to set the Net Zero target in 2019. We were quickly followed down the road to economic disaster by the EU which implemented restrictive laws on climate, energy security and farming. By 2021, our envoy to COP26, Alok Sharma was gleefully blowing up coal-fired power stations and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was boasting of aligning £130 trillion of the world’s financial assets with the Paris Agreement climate goals, or what we might now see as western economic suicide. 

Worse, people well qualified to criticise the crap science behind net zero were cancellled, hounded out of their jobs abd profesions and destroyed if the deviated from the official line on net zero. Fast forward to 2024 and Reform based their General Election campaign on a platform of ditching Net Stupid Zero. The pushback towards common sense did not stop there, earlier this year the current Conservative leader, Kemi Badenoch, signalled that the Tories no longer believed Net Zero was achievable by 2050. 

The number of journalists writing about the follies of Net Zero and UK energy policy grown (from almost net xero,) nd scientists were no longer being cancelled for expressing scepticism about the reliability of mathematical models on which the whole climate change case is built. The Net Zero juggernaut no longer looked impregnable, cracks were beginning to appear but progress was slow. Towards the end of 2025 however, Ms Badenoch announced that the Conservative Party plans to repeal the Climate Change Act, which underpins all the Net Zero nonsense.

They have also committed to abolish the Climate Change Committee. And now Mad Ed Milliband, the swivel eyed fanatic who had emerged as leader of the Net Zero cult after being deposed as Labour leader, and in 2024 had become Secretary for Energy and Net Zero in a newly elected Labour government under the hapless Keir Starmer, has been moved to another department in government and the Labour government under a new leader (Andy Burnham,) and with a new, more sane Energy Secretary seem to be embracing the Drill Baby Drill approach to energy secuity. 

In the USA Donald Trump, elected for a second term much to the disgust of lefties and progressives, revered many of the net zero policied of the previous deomcrat aministration and EU member states becant to rebel over draconian measures to force adoption of net zero policies as the disintegration of the climate catastrophe hoax gained momentum.

It is interesting that this change of heart has come from people who have largely never had to wonder about the engineering marvels that had tooccur behind the scenes to ensure the lights stayed on when they turned on their cookers. Perhaps the blackout in Spain and Portugal earlier this year has focused minds on the dangers of too many intermittent renewables on the grid.

We can now, with our national grid under extreme stress on low wind days and imports of electricity vial undersea cables from France, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Norway regularly running at between 20%vand 30% of total UK demans, see that the empty rhetoric of the “Saudi Arabia of Wind” and “Green Energy Superpower” was the triumph of narrative over numbers and optics over substance. These people in wonk-land never had to worry about choosing between heating or eating; were not concerned about increasing energy debt and were totally at ease as heavy industry collapsed. They are ignorant of maths; the closest they have ever come to imaginary numbers is the increasingly implausible cost estimates from the CCC. They are also ignorant of economics as they clapped like seals at the “nine times cheaper than gas” mantra. We should welcome their Damascene conversion but be cautious that their new message might be just as fickle as the old.

As the case for Net Zero crumbles more with every missile fired across the Strait of Hormuz and Kemi’s Conservatives become more scetical of climare science every day Ed Miliband’s claim that Nigel Farage and Reform are “investment crushing, job destroying, bill raising, poverty driving, science denying, Putin appeasing, young people betraying bunch of ideological extremists”. Ironically this description is a far better fit on Ed's fanatical Climate Catastrophe cultists.

I think this is what psychologists call projection. Miliband is accusing his opponents of wanting to do the very same things he is already doing himself. Jim Ratcliff’s INEOS has ended all UK investment because of Net Zero policies pushing up taxes onNorth Sea oil and gas and expensive energy prices. This, of course, destroys jobs too. Miliband is pushing up bills by pressing ahead with Allocation Round 7, extending contracts to 20 years and offering prices that are much more expensive than gas-fired generation, and of course high bills drive poverty. Miliband denies the physics of intermittent renewables and seems totally unaware of the laws of thermodynamics.

Net Zero is not achievable without the huge amounts of copper needed for the cabling, grid equipment, motors, machines, appliances, etc for an all-electric economy/society Worldwide.

Copper needs copper ore and it is estimated that near 700 million tons of ore would be required over the next twenty years – about the same amount mined to date since copper was first invented as a resource by Man.

The biggest indicator in the market place is price – it tells among other things the relationship between supply and demand.

Were Net Zero achievable and on-course, the demand for things made with copper, thus copper, thus copper ore would be huge, and prices of ore would be climbing exponentially.

But that is not the case. In fact ore prices have been easing, showing that supply and demand are about balanced.

Price says, no Net Zero.

This was completely foreseeable. The only way to achieve anything close to “net zero” is to impoverish the British people. The only way people will accept being impoverished is if the government becomes tyrannical.We are talking about real impoverishment here, not just one fewer holiday per year and a smaller car. New Zero would rationing and surveillance at levels worse than those during the Second World War.

All of this should have been foreseen by our political leaders, scientists and opinion shapers and by by anyone with an IQ higher than the average brigk.

Since the people who lead us, the scientists who advise them and the propagandists who shape opinion have IQ's far higher than the average individual (allegedly,) we can only assume that they put personal and class interests ahead of the interests of the British people.

The UK establishment cares about its own power and influence, not just in Britain but around the world. It will sacrifice whoever it needs to sacrifice in order to maintain that power and influence, as it has always done.

Climate change policy has been led by the UK in alliance with the part of the US establishment that it has historically had influence over.

It’s a con job the sole purpose of which has been to try to neutralise the power and influence that oil and gas confers to the nations that have it. Our establishment used to control the oil and gas in the world and have fought hard over the decades to maintain that control. When it was no longer possible, they came up with climate change.

They literally couldn’t care less who they impoverished in the process. UK establishment figures think that those in the population that don’tagree with their ideas – NetZero, mass immigration.- are ignorant scum. They pretty much say it openly when the've had a few beers or done a line or two.

Pound Falls, Confidence In Burnham Evaporates As Prime Minister In Waiting Lurches To The Left

 

 

Traders in London's financial markets have staked their biggest bet against the pound in almost a decade, according to The Mail on Sunday.

In a blow to Prime Minister-in-waiting Andy Burnham, speculators are  piling into short positions in the expectation that sterling will fall against the dollar and other currencies if Burnham's government moves to the Left.

News of the £7billion wager against the pound comes as Burnham, who is will replace Keir Starmer and enter No.10 later this month, seeks to calm financial markets.

His major policy speech last week promising to devolve more power to English regions caused barely a ripple on the bond markets, though Government borrowing costs remain high, but this news shows there is little confidence that he will prove to be more competent than Starmer.

Sterling recently fell to $1.32  after Burnham emerged as the front-runner to oust Starmer when he won the Makerfield by-election, clearing his path back to Parliament.

Now, in what amounts to a big thumbs-down on the prospect of a Burnham premiership, speculators have raised their wagers on a weaker pound to their highest level since the aftermath of Brexit almost ten years ago. All of which would lead to a reduction in tax revenues, more borrowing to fund the deficit, higher inflation and further weakening of the pound.

 And the the UK Government would have no option other than to seek a bailout from the IMF as Labour governments of the 1960s and 70s did.

The incoming PM  has pledged to retain fiscal rules designed to the curb excessive borrowing of the Starmer - Reeves financial policy and stick to Labour’s 2024 manifesto promise not to raise VAT, income tax or employee National Insurance. But the former Mayor of Greater Manchester has suggested other taxes could rise, while ruling out ‘crude cuts’ to the welfare bill.

Burnham has already expressed his opinion on 'the markets' and seems to believe he can ignore them and introduce whatever public spending policies he has in mind. The previous Labour government left a 'no money' note when it exited in 2010; the one before it had to apply to the IMF in 1976 for a fiscal bail-out. So Keir Starmer is gone. The man who so piously hounded Boris Johnson out of Downing Street for eating cake, or something like that, has been undone by his own unfittedness for the job and yet was so out of his depth as a national leader has been deservedly kicked out  after an even shorter time in office. There is some justice in the world.

About time, too. I predicted in February he would go this year, though this hardly required great prognosticatory powers on my part. And one of the main reasons Starmer had to go was demonstrated in his resignation speech in which the outgoing Prime Minister detailed his achievements while in office, needless to say all were of dubious provenance, while humiliations like the rout in local council elections by Nigel Farage's Reform, acts of treason like the Chagos Islands giveaway, the Chinese Super Embassy Scandal, Mandygate, Two tier policing and justice, the mystery of the three Ukrainian rent boys, the hamfisted attempts to whitewash the grooming gangs scandal, Southport killings, and the issue of illegal immigrants sex crimes were glossed over.

 Anyone could see that the bond between Starmer and his party, always unromantic and transactional at best, was broken. Maybe it was the Mandelson affair. Maybe successive electoral disasters. Maybe frankly incomprehensible policies like handing over Chagos or scrapping jury trials. Or maybe just Starmer’s inability to read the room and show actual, directional, leadership without U-turning. Which of us outsiders may know the counsel of the Labour Party or the will of its members?

Whatever the exact cause, after a long list of failures in addition to those mentioned above, the oustng of Starmer had become inevitable. The necessary condition for stopping the Weekend at Bernie’s farce and ceasing to prop him up was lack of a plausible replacement. Finally despairing of such a figure emerging, the Labour Party has chosen to imagine one anyway in Andy Burnham, and to elevate him to Prime Minister.

Burnham,the man who was beaten in two past Labour leadership elections, the undistinguished Blair-era minister, the mayor who reinvented himself as The Prime Minister In The North, is going to be running the country? Seriously? It’s true that Manchester is a much improved city, though quite how much responsibility Burnham himself bears for the transformation is arguable.

To turn Britain round will be very painful, a lot more difficult that turning a faded industrial city around and can only be done if the right person is found to give us the painful medicine and for a long time. That person and his government will have to be tough and relentless  (which few people would accuse Burnham or Labour of) and there will be many obstacles along the road before things get better. I do not think that the British can tolerate such a situation as most are unable to understand the trouble we are in. 

Economic collapse is probably what will happen as taxation has killed the incentive to invest, work or start new business. Many in business want out and it makes little sense to start a new one unless you have an exceptionally good idea. 

The story of the left is always the same. To be Robin Hood, to take from the rich (by definition undeserving exploitative bullshit) and give to the poor (by definition hard done by paragons of love & virtue).
The reality of life and economies is very different.
The idea that the North can be revitalised by investing government money is a mirage. What is needed is to unshackle and encourage industry and business throughout this land. Not shut down whole industries with mad energy policies – the oil industry in Aberdeen, the Steel Industry, the Fishing Industry, the Car Industry. Not seek to centrally control the price of everything. Not hike the minimum wage so youngsters are forced onto the scrap heap. Not to artificially grow the economy by borrowing money to fund increased benefits for the ever ex[anding non-working class.

 The problem that wuill cause the downfall of any future socialist leadr is that socialist are incapable of understanding that socialism just doesn't work.

Socialism always leads to fascism, as economist Josef Schumpeter warned back in the 1930s and twenty - one years ago it was clear to us Boggart Bloggers,  an IT consultant, an accountant and an aerospace engineer, that the government of the day, led by Tony Blair at the time, was intent on using internet technologies as a tool for censorship, social engineering and the destruction of individual liberty.

At the time the technology existed for tracking and electronic surveillance of our every action and movement via online technology, but it was not as advanced and did not have the ubiquity of the smartphone. To put a tracker device in the pockets of 90% of the population and set up the networks and data centres to gather, collate and store the data would have been prohibitively costly.

But not any more ...

In the article from which we reproduce an extract below the author discusses the UK government's plans, in collaboration with Silicon Valley black hat actors Google and Apple to introduce mandatory client side scanning surveillance on smartphones, giving tech companies and government agencies powers to read and record every message or internet session users are involved in. They justify this exercise in trampling on constitutional rights and liberties by claiming it is to protect children from accessing harmful material

It is no coincidence that simultaneously Starmer's Socialist government is working with tech firms on plans to make what they call 'misinformation and disinformation' (i.e. anything the government does not want you to see, hear or read,) posted online invisible to user. All levels of government deny this is a blatant attack on free speech of course.

And we must not forget, though it is on hold at the moment due to a public opinion backlash, Reichsfuhrer Starmer's favourite sacred cow project, mandatory Digital ID is still part of his manifesto.

Reclaim the Net reports that "Ministers are reportedly drafting a law that would force Apple, Google, and the rest to make it impossible for a child to send, receive, view, or share a single nude image, with the executives who refuse facing up to five years in prison."

That might sound all well and good, but as usual, For the Children™ is little more than the government's justification for total surveillance.

"You cannot block every naked picture someone might stumble across without inspecting every picture, every message, every video call, every streamed film, on every device, all the time," Reclaim noted, with nudity serving as "the excuse and the unbroken view into your phone is the actual prize."

The industry term is "client-side scanning," which sounds much nicer than "a government mandated app that looks at everything on your phone all the time."

And even that sounds better than "Big Brother is Watching You," which is exactly what it is.

As already required by Britain's Online Safety Act, Apple and Google forcibly install age verification on every iPhone and Android device in the UK via app store updates.

No, it can't be uninstalled.

As I reported in January, what this means in practice is that London's Office of Communications ("Ofcom" in Newspeak) mandates on-device software able to read everybody's "private" messages in real-time and scan their images, too, before any personal encryption tools come into play. 

London pinky-swears that it'll only look for CSAM and terrorism-related materials, but as the Telegram's Zia Yusuf put it back then, "the slippery slope is obvious" and "mission creep is inevitable."
