Talk of Sending Fighter Planes to Ukraine Is Madness

Typhoon aircraft
Typhoon aircraft

President Zelensky’s warmongering speech to the UK Parliament yesterday unequivocally and unashamedly made the case for starting World War 3 in order to polish the oversized ego of this little clown with the piano playing penis when he demanded that Nato-grade fighter jets to be sent to Ukraine.

In what is starting to feel like a repeat of the recent tank saga, what seemed impossible is taking on an unassailable momentum. As then, Britain is leading the West towards the inevitable self - immolation of nuclear conflict with Russia.

Should we commit to sending jets it will take Ukraine months to receive them, but will immediately be seen as an intolerable provocation by Russia, which alread has its military forces or a war footing. OK say the war hawks in Washington, London, Paris, Berlin and Brussels will say this is going to be a long war, and saying we will send them will be a huge blow to Russian morale. They have saidame about every incremental increase in volume and sophictication of military hardware donated to the neo - Nazi nutters in Kiev and yet the Russian war machine grinds on.

Last month it was battle grade heavy tanks that Zelensky demanded and was promised, though it will me months before any are delivered and more months before the Ukies are trained to use them. Tanks, say the military bureaucrats are the first half of the winning equation, and fighter jets the second half.

Though they may be few in number, the British Typhoon fighters would inevitably unlock a much larger number of European Typhoons or F-16s, as the British tank did with European tanks. It’s true that as things stand we have very few fighters to spare. The general idea however is that with air support for their donated tanks the Ukies will be able to rout Russian ground forces. Nice theory but it overlooks the fact that Russia has modern, highly advanced aircraft technology in the  MIG35s and Sukhoi Su57s both of which designs are less than five years old, more than capable of taking on the 30 year old Typhoon Eurofighters and 45 year old F16s.

Aside from the fact that military aircraft technology development in the west has lagged behind that of Russia and China, the idea that sending these ageing aircraft to Ukraine will guarantee a quick and total victory over Russia is quite literally pie in the sky. Even experienced pilots cannot just ‘type convert’ onto modern generation jets like Typhoon. Without questioning Ukrainian pilots’ capabilities (although it would not be unfair to do so,) there does not exist the capability to train people from such a flying background onto a completely different combat platform. It doesn’t really help that they have fighter experience. They are going to have to ‘unlearn’ so much that will be counter-intuitive to the operation of these jets. Nobody has ever tried a rapid type conversion programme such as this, there is no syllabus, no standards written, no instructor training system. Forget that the RAF has not even the capacity to train its own fast jet pilots right now. Don’t even start on maintenancen training for engineers, logistics support, third line maintenance, battle damage repair, armourer training…. It’s not even worth considering unless the US leads. They are the only people with the resources and infrastructure to even know where to start so talk of the UK leading is bollocks. Forget Sunak's virtue signalling and the follow-my-leader games of other European leaders, nobody has thought this through properly.

More importantly, the donations would signal the most significant demonstration to Putin that as far as NATO is concerned this is no local war but a concerted attempt by the USA and its allies to destroy Russia. The Russians still believe if they can stick the war out as long enough, they will crack the western will to keep supporting Ukraine. Recent reports warn that the Russians are apparently preparing 500,000 conscripts to throw into the melee for a spring assault intended to break the will of the Ukrainians. If that fails and The Kremlin knows that Western jets are on the way, that could be enough to push Russia into lanuching unrestrained aerial warfare, sending in wave after wave of heavy bombers to destroy the entire country. One thing is certain, Russia will not give in, knowing any withdrawal now would result in the fast tracking of Ukraine into NATO

One of the underlying principles of the United Nations is that no distant military power is allowed to place its military on your border, unless of course you are America or NATO.By allowing Ukraine to join NATO, Russia would ensure that the whole of its long border with Ukraine would be garrisoned by American, British and European troops backed by long range missiles, all type of military aircraft and a whole range of high tech military gadgetry.

The former head of the CIA claims America has exercised a proxy war against Russia for years, that NATO has been training and arming the Ukraine military for a decade. Evidence indicates America has insisted on allowing Ukraine entry to NATO , effectively leading to an anti Russian state armed to the teeth with advanced western weapons along the Russian border. The existential threat this posed to Russia was repeatedly ignored by Washington resulting in the invasion taking place.

We now face a conflict in which neither Russia nor America can afford to lose, defeating Russia on the battlefield risks forcing Russia to consider deploying nuclear weapons, any Russian victory would be seen as a defeat for the Biden administration. As for Ukraine, the ultra natiobalist neo - Nazis are in control demanding total victory and the destruction of the Russian state.

Instead of diffusing the conflict America and its allies are hell bent on escalation, happy to wallow in the platitudes voiced by Zelensky while serving his every demand.

I hope for all our sakes the red button is never pressed , should it happen what then ?

Who Blew Up The Nordstream Pipeline
So whodunnit? Sabotage of undersea gas pipe will escalate tension and move the world closer to nuclear war, but who is behind it, Russia in a bid to put more presure on Europe, Ukraine in an attempt to drag NATO into direct action, or the USA using a CIA false flag event to advance its own agenda.

Though it was entirely predictable and indeed had been expected for some time, the news over the weekend that the Nord Stream 1 pipeline which feeds gas from Russia to northern Europe via The Baltic route had been shut down completely by The Kremlin in retaliation for the continued financial and military support given by NATO and EU member states to Ukraine in the conflict with Russia. The European Commission, governing body of the EU, immediately put the community on something close to a war footing, ...

Do We Have A Winter Of Civil Disobedience Ahead?
As many people in Britain slap on the apres sun gloop in the wake of what passes for a heatwave in these cool cloudy climes, our inept politicians caught with their pants down by unusual weather as usual have heard that that winter is coming and are making plans for a coldwave. Last week, it was reported that the UK government is laying down plans for a “reasonable worst-case scenario” including blackouts for industry and even households. As this blog predicted when NATO and EU member states shot themselves in the foot by reacting to Russia's invasion of Ukraine with sanctions that prevented Russia from selling oil, gas and vital raw materials to the countries that needed them most, the NATO and EU member states, the Russians have had no problems finding alternative customers for their gas and oil and no problem getting oil into the world's commodity markets through the back door.

Are US Supplied Long Range Missiles Really Winning The War For Ukraine?
Since very soon after the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine western powers, USA, UK, EU and NATO have been doing everything possible to prolong and escalate the war. Why Cant We Ban Cashless Shops

The government and Bank of England seem to have finally woken up to one of the many glaring problems with trying to achieve a cashless society: that there are 1.3 million people in Britain who do not have a bank account. Whether that is because of long-established habit, because they don’t trust banks or because banks don’t trust them, it is an awful lot of people to contemplate shutting out of the economy. Presumably, they would have to resort to some form of barter, or to establish unofficial currencies such as cigarettes, used in jails.

But the solution suggested by Jeremy Hunt and Andrew Bailey seems itself wrapped in problems. They have suggested creating a Bank of England digital pound by 2030 which could be used without a bank account. Trouble is that four per cent of the population – almost the same proportion who do not have a bank account, and quite possibly the same people in many cases – don’t have internet access either. To use a digital currency in a shop would presumably require either a prepayment card or a smartphone. Still, 16 per cent of the population do not own a smartphone.

Presumably, that might rise if a digital currency became the only means of going shopping. But then there is a far simpler option to a digital currency: to enshrine in law the right to use cash. The government is in the process of passing a law which gives a right to access cash – which would oblige banks to ensure that sufficient cashpoint machines are available. But having access to cash is no good if you cannot use it. Why can’t we have a law like those already passed in New York and San Francisco, which bans cashless stores?

It is very significant that San Francisco, the world’s tech capital, has chosen to take this route. But it should not be surprising. When you are close to tech it is perhaps easier to see the potential consequences of allowing it to steam-roller every area of daily life.

It is not that anyone wants to stop people paying by card, mobile phone, fingerprint scanner, earlobe detector or whatever. It is the exclusion of cash which is the problem. The drive to abolish cash is coming from vested interests in the fintech sector which stands to profit from people being forced to use their services. Government should have the strength to tell them to get lost, to say: ‘If you want to sell us fintech, then you will have to convince us of the benefits of using your services; we are not going to help you by making them the only means of paying for goods’. Why does the government not do as it should have done years ago? Enshrine in law not just a right to access cash but to use it, too.

Switzerland to Vote on Guaranteeing Citizens Access to Cash

https://famousbio.net/lifestyle/switzerland-to-vote-on-guaranteeing-citizens-access-to-cash/

“Switzerland Rejects the Cashless Society: Citizens to Vote on Keeping Banknotes and Coins Alive”

Swiss citizens will be given the opportunity to ensure their economy never goes cashless, an advocacy group said after collecting enough signatures on Monday to trigger a referendum on the issue.

The Free Switzerland Movement (FBS) says cash is playing a shrinking role in many economies as electronic payments become the standard for transactions in increasingly digitized societies, making it easier for the state to monitor the actions of its citizens.

She wants to add a clause to the Swiss currency law, which regulates the management of the money supply by the central bank and the state, that stipulates that a “sufficient amount” of banknotes or coins must always remain in circulation.

There is no evidence of moves towards a cashless society by the Swiss authorities.

FBS said it had collected over 111,000 signatures in support of the measure, more than the 100,000 needed to trigger a popular vote.

In defense of cash

Under the system of direct democracy in Switzerland, the proposal would become law if approved by the electorate, although government and parliament would decide how this law was implemented.

“It is clear that … the abolition of cash not only touches on issues of transparency, simplicity or security … but also poses the grave threat of totalitarian surveillance,” FBS President Richard Koller said on the group’s website.

He also sees Switzerland as the European flag-bearer for the defense of cash, as enforcing such guarantees in the European Union would entail the “almost impossible” process of getting approval from all 27 member states.

Accelerated by the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns, the trend towards more cashless payments was already apparent in 2017, when an Ipsos study found that more than a third of Europeans and Americans would like to give up cash and pretty much 20 percent already did .

Ukraine End Game: As Bakhmut Falls Real Reporting Vies With Propaganda In Western Media

by Arthur Foxake, 7 February 2023

Ever since Russia crossed the Ukrainian border and launched its 'Special Military Operation' almost a year ago now, everyday in western news media we have watched, heard and read that Ukraine was winning the war - Russia was losing ten soldiers for every Ukrainian casualty, Russian troops were incompetent brutes, Russian military hardware did not work and the Russians were running out of missiles, bullets and everything else.

And yet the Russian war effort kept grinding on, advancing a little then consolidating then advancing again, occasionally retreating a little in order to regroup but all the time maintaining the bombardment. While the media reported every little Ukrainian win as a major victory and every minor setback for Russia as a game changing defeat, while Bellendskyyyyy preened and posed and played piano with his penis, enjoying a level of fame he had never known in his first career as a comedian, while western leaders demonised Russia and poured money and hardware into Ukraine and encouraged the regime to keep escalating the war, the Russians, unrelentingly, often brutally, just got on with the job.

This week, however, there has been a significant shift in the tone of reporting; in Britain most news organisations repoted that Bellendskyyyyy had acknowledged the battle for the strategically important town of Bakhmut was going badly and the town plus control of road links throughout the easdtern area was likely to be lost. On top of this the New York Times, a newspaper which has beeen streadfast in its support for Ukraine and faithful in sticking to the US/NATO narrative throughout the war, reported that the current situation is catastrophic for Ukraine. Under this headline:

Outnumbered and Worn Out, Ukrainians in East Brace for Russian Assault

the NYT reporter embedded with the Ukrainian forces wrote:

Exhausted Ukrainian troops complain they are already outnumbered and outgunned, even before Russia has committed the bulk of its roughly 200,000 newly mobilized soldiers. And doctors at hospitals speak of mounting losses as they struggle to care for fighters with gruesome injuries.
...
The first stages of the Russian offensive have already begun. Ukrainian troops say that Bakhmut, an eastern Ukrainian city that Russian forces have been trying to seize since the summer, is likely to fall soon. Elsewhere, Russian forces are advancing in small groups and probing the front lines looking for Ukrainian weaknesses.

The efforts are already straining Ukraine’s military, which is worn out by nearly 12 months of heavy fighting.
...
Losses among Ukrainian forces have been severe. Troops in a volunteer contingent called the Carpathian Sich, positioned near Nevske, said that some 30 fighters from their group had died in recent weeks, and soldiers said, only partly in jest, that just about everyone has a concussion.

“It’s winter and the positions are open; there’s nowhere to hide,” said a soldier from the unit with the call sign Rusin.

At one frontline hospital in the Donbas, the morgue was packed with the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers in white plastic bags. In another hospital, stretchers with wounded troops covered in gold foil thermal blankets crowded the corridors, and a steady stream of ambulances arrived from the front nearly all day long.

So what is going on with the media. For eleven and a half months they tried to convince us first that Russia would fold at the first sigh of resistance, citing 'western military intelligence' as the only reliable source of information on the war.

Unfortunately western Intelligence has been wrong about the Soviet Union and Russia for decades: the problem is wishful thinking and ideological blindness. One aspect of that blindness is the conviction that all is well 'at home' and that Russians long to live as well as the English or the Americans, by which they mean themselves. The members of the Intelligence community, the armed forces and the political class live in a social bubble, another planet from the one in which the people they rule live.

As to negotiations, there is nothing to negotiate about. The NATO strategy, laid down in Washington, is to build an iron curtain across eastern Europe thus preventing the development of China's One Belt One Road, and then to squeeze the Eurasian alliance through the agency of Central Asia's former Soviet Republics. When Russia was willing to talk and the Ukrainian regime, realising they were outnumbered and outgunned were ready to listen, then UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was dispatched to Kiev to tell the regime there could be no negotiations until US / NATO conditions were met (i.e. total surrender by Russia,) and to pledge support and high tech weaponry to the neo - Nazi nutters in Kiev so long as they kept fighting.

The war was never about Ukraine, they were just the unfortunate people whose land was chosen as the site for the main event in a proxy war the USA / NATO has been waging since the Soviet Union fell apart  in the early 1990s. It is not about democracy, freedom or the guys in white hats beating the guys in black hats. It is not about protecting 'little Ukraine' from the imperialistic ambitions of Russia's leader, it is and was always about about money, preserving the imperial dominance of the USA by protecting the status of the Petrodollar as the global currency and about control of Russia's vast reserves of natural resources, oil, gas, minerals and fertile agricultual land.

Which leads us back to the dollar, which is what the imperialists seem to have forgotten about when their sanctions made it impossible for the rest of the world not to wake up to the reality that the dollar is not a currency for trade and investment, a store of wealth or reliable medium of payment but an instrument conquest in the incompetent hands of the idiots running the US Economic Empire, to be weaponised against any nation that stood in the way of Washington's geopolitical ambitions. Unfortunately sanctions failed, China, India and Iran led the resistance and the weapon became a dud.

To put the situation into perspective it is useful to recognise that the Imperial system in question dates back two thousand years to the Punic Wars when Rome crushed its main rival Carthage to become the dominant power in the known world.

Since then, though Empires have come and gone the imperial system has never been challenged, though it has survived several changes of ownership and successive unsuccessful takeover bids from Genghis Khan, the Islamic Caliphate, Sweden, Austria, France, Germany and the Axis powers, most recently. Its essential nature, long distance maritime trade facilitated by naval dominance and hinged on the exploitation of the natural resources of undeveloped regions, has been unchanged.

The Eurasian uprising, born of the movement for decolonisation, patronised by the Soviet Union and its allies, represents the first real challenge to the Empire, the first revolution, in the sense of the world being turned upside down, since Zheng He was ordered to dock his fleets by the Ming emperor, and the way was open for Europeans.

Which is why Russia has to be effectively expelled from Europe driven back into a smaller area than it has occupied in almost six hundred years, and the Russian - Chinese alliance broken.Due to the aforementioned incompetence of the Empire's leaders it looks as if the emerging economies are gathering around Russia and China, and The Empire is losing the economic war as well as the shooting war. I pity the people of Ukraine who may have to suffer more years of conflict before this exercise in idiocy can be ended.

Dozens of giant turbines at Scots windfarms powered by diesel generators

 Source: Scottish Daily Record

Scottish Power admitted 71 of its windmills were hooked up to the fossil fuel supply after a fault developed with their power supply.

The Glen App windfarm in South Ayrshire
Dozens of giant turbines on Scotland’s windfarms have been powered by diesel generators, the Sunday Mail can reveal. Scottish Power admitted 71 of its windmills were hooked up to the fossil fuel supply after a fault developed on the grid

The firm said it was forced to act in order to keep the turbines warm during very cold weather in December. But a whistleblower has told the Sunday Mail the incident is among a number of environmental and health and safety failings.

The worker, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “The Scottish Government wants to make our country attractive to foreign investors as 40 per cent of the wind that blows across Europe blows across Scotland. However, that should not mean we put up with our waterways and nature being polluted with carbon from diesel generators and hydraulic oil.

“People should be aware that, while their energy costs continue to rise, our windfarms are not operating as efficiently as they could be due to corporate greed.”

Labour’s South Scotland MSP Colin Smyth said: “The SNP and Greens have proven time and time again they cannot be trusted on environmental issues. They laud Scotland’s potential for renewables, yet don’t appear to ensure those already in existence are properly run. This isn’t the first problem raised about this site and there is concern at a lack of openness when problems arise.

"Whatever the reasons, having to use diesel generators to de-ice faulty turbines is environmental madness. This level of dishonesty cuts to the very core of the SNP and Green Government where their rhetoric on net zero is very different from the reality."

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon with Ignacio Galan, CEO of Scottish Power
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon with Ignacio Galan, CEO of Scottish Power

Sixty turbines at Arecleoch Wind farm and 11 at Glenn App near Cairnrayn in South Ayrshire were affacted and connected to six huge diesel generators. The windfarms are operated by Scottish Power Renewables, a subsidiary of Spanish-based Iberdrola, which operates 1183 onshore turbines which can produce enough electricity to power two million homes.

But the whistleblower revealed how they had to bring in generators after the issue was discovered.

The worker said: “During December 60 turbines at Arecleoch and 11 at Glenn App were de-energised due to a cabling fault originating at Mark Hill wind farm. In order to get these turbines re-energised diesel generators were running for upwards of six hours a day.”

Ukraine: The Unwinnable War And The Narrative Of Lies

 https://www.theepochtimes.com/youre-being-lied-to-about-the-war-in-ukraine_5029268.html

This isn’t a surprise to any honest observer of international politics.

It has therefore been frustrating to hear voices that many of us trust repeating the same tropes about “evil Vladimir Putin” and the “fight for democracy.” Likewise, as if reading off reports straight from the U.S. State Department or a CNN teleprompter, they tell us that the fascistic Russian regime is going to come tumbling down any day now.

All we need to do is continue to increase our support for the Zelenskyy administration—more money, more weapons, more “I stand with Ukraine” bumper stickers on the back of soccer moms’ minivans. No need to be concerned with the risk of escalation and potential nuclear war.

Why? Because, so they tell us, the United States-led transatlantic alliance (of which Ukraine is a mere proxy) is on the right side of history.

Spreading democracy, defending national sovereignty, ensuring human rights for all.

How quickly the speculating class returns to their neoconservative worldview.

Democracy?

Here in the United States we’ve seen our own electoral system totally upended in the past three years, a criminal justice system turned into a tool of political oppression, and half of the country demonized for “white supremacy” and portrayed as blood-thirsty fascists. The Twitter Files revealed that public discourse—what can be said and what can’t be said—was being curated by federal law enforcement attempting to directly influence the outcome of U.S. elections.

National sovereignty?

Every month, record numbers of unvetted foreign aliens pour across our wide-open Southern Border. Rather than seek to stem this flow, politicians argue about how these individuals should be provided with a path to naturalization, and some even support their right to vote (pre-naturalization), entirely destroying the concept of citizenship.

Human rights?

The President of the United States tried to mandate that the experimental COVID-19 mRNA shot be required in order for Americans to earn a living. We saw vaccination passports put in place around the Western world, and elites in every country attempted to turn neighbor against neighbor by spreading the lie that the unvaccinated were a physical threat to the vaccinated. Again, the Twitter Files showed how the right to free speech—one of our most fundamental “human rights”—was largely a joke.

Yet, we’re told that we must be cheering for the destruction of Russia and the liberation of Ukraine. Why, so that Ukraine can perform double mastectomies on minors for “gender-affirming care,” or host drag queen story hour where sexually perverted men dress up as women and interact with children? Is Vladimir Putin any worse than the above? At least his people don’t doubt the fact that he actually likes his country, which is more than we can say about our ruling class.

This isn’t a defense of any side. Not to tout my own predictions, but I’ve tried my best to write as a neutral observer of international trends. Here I wrote in July 2021 for the Euromaidan Press—a Ukraine-based online publication that’s obviously extremely pro-Kiev (or Kyiv, as they call it)—that the Western world should be paying attention to Putin’s hostile words as a precursor to future actions.

As a Russian speaker, I’ve also been able to see Moscow’s side of the story, and watch their reporting since 2014 on the continued Ukrainian assaults on the Donbass region. In October of 2021—five months before the beginning of the war—I noted how Kyiv’s attacks on the latter increased with the election of Joe Biden as president. I subsequently predicted that the decreased funds flowing to Ukraine may lead the Zelenskyy administration to further provoke conflict in an effort to open the cash spigot back up, inducing a reaction from Russia.

Considering that Biden on Jan. 31 just approved another $2.2 billion weapons package for Ukraine, including “longer-range” missiles, I’d say that Kyiv is certainly good for money now. Total aid is currently somewhere up around $100 billion.

I’m not saying I was right, but only that I attempted to honestly follow my observations. In comparison, others have simply seized on whatever their respective side tells them is the truth and used it to support the exact same thesis, left or right, Russian or Western: “Our side is going to win.”

Here’s a smattering of some of the numbers floating around from each side.

Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff General Mark Milley recently claimed Russian casualties (killed and wounded collectively) in Ukraine stand at over 100,000.

Similarly, Hervé Bléjean, the director general of the European Union Military Staff, stated in early January that Russia had lost 60 percent of the total reserve of its military tanks. According to his estimates, total casualties for Moscow amount to nearly 250,000. Likewise, Ukraine previously reported that Russia had lost 20,000 troops (killed) in one single month of fighting alone.

Conversely, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed several months ago that Russian deaths stood at less than 6,000, with Ukraine suffering over 100,000 casualties. According to the Kremlin, its Special Military Operation is proceeding perfectly apace in line with the strategic goals set out at the beginning of the war.

Sure, I’ll accept that Shoigu is lying.

But you expect me to trust Mark Milley? The same Mark Milley, DC darling who called the highest-ranking military officials in the Chinese Communist Party to tell them that he would preemptively warn them of an approaching U.S. attack because he personally hated Donald Trump?

Is Vladimir Putin “evil?” I don’t know. And neither does anyone else (at least in this world), regardless of what they tell you. But I do know that my own government has explicitly stated its hate for my political beliefs and attempted to portray me as an evil individual who is a threat to “democracy.”

So sorry, but I don’t “stand with Ukraine.” I stand with the United States of America, which I believe is more than the current individuals running our country can say. I don’t have the hubris to claim that I’m on the right side of history, but I will say that I believe myself to be on the side that loves this country—my country.

Any piece that attempts to moralize the war in Ukraine should be immediately met with your skepticism. Likewise, whoever says that Russia is finished any day now doesn’t have some insider information that you or I don’t know about—they’re merely playing the part of regime propaganda mouthpiece.

You, like me, are almost certainly not interested in hearing the grandstanding and fawning over Zelenskyy and the fight against big, bad Putin. If we did, we would simply tune into the Golden Globes or a Biden press statement.

It’s hard to know exactly where the Russo-Ukraine War is going, or who will “win” in the end (whatever that term even entails), but for now there’s one thing that we can conclude beyond a shadow of a doubt: We’re being lied to.

Are You Really Against Fossil Fuels? Read This Before You Answer

by Tyler Durden, Zero Hedge

Sunday, Jan 29, 2023

Authored by Vijay Jayaraj via RealClearEnergy.org,

It is easy for anyone to say that they are against fossil fuels. Opposition to coal, oil and natural gas is fashionable and will prompt heads to nod and even hands to applaud in most places.

But are people aware of the extent to which their lives are dependent on fossil fuels? Do they know that more than 90 percent of things used in their everyday lives are derived from fossil fuels?

From your toothbrush to your car tire, a majority of the things you use today has been made possible because of fossil fuels. Shoes, refrigerators, washing machines, coffee makers, furniture, pens, eating utensils, eyeglasses, commodes, medical gear, camping equipment, and the list goes on and on.

Consider the computer or the phone from which you are reading this article. They are made of glass, metal, plastic, lithium and silicon – all of which require fossil fuels to mine, process or manufacture. While some are chemical derivatives of fossil fuels, all depend one way or another on their combustion for electricity generation, process heat or transportation.

You wouldn’t have the iPhone, Android or MacBook without fossil fuels. Imagine the irony of typing out “end oil” from a phone that is made from fossil fuels! Or supporting climate activism by relaying video that was recorded with a camera made from fossil fuels! Of course, this sort of irony is displayed regularly and missed constantly.

In short, the most fundamental necessities – and the most cherished conveniences – of daily life are products dependent on the use of fossil fuels. ... Continue reading >>>

UK Government Belatedly Discovers The Uselessness Of Sustainables In Relation To Energy Security
The policy that Boris Johnson's Premiership will be remembered for is nor 'getting Brexit done,' but the government's disastrous pledge to make Great Britain the first developed nation to achieve a 'net zero' national energy system. The neglect and running down of traditional energy systems (coal, gas, nuclear,) along with flushing money down the toilet by investing in intermitternt power sources (wind, solar,) rather than Putin's war in Ukraine is responsible for the current crisis.

The True Cost Of The Green Energy Boom Is Now Being Realized
For four decades we have been fed a constant stream of propaganda assuring us that green energy was the only way forward if we wanted to secure supplies of the energy essential to a modern society while preventing the environmental catastrophes that would be the inevitable consequence of climate change caused by the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emitted by human industrial, commercial and social activity. ... 1,200 Scientists and Professionals Go Public With: “There is No Climate Emergency”
As it happens the narrative promoting the risible idea that "The Science Is Settled," and a few other trains of misinformation to keep ramping up the fear level among the general public have been rocked by the publication of The World Climate Declaration (WCD) a study and report signed by over 1,100 scientists and professionals. The authors, meteorologists, physicists, biologists, naturalists and well qualified people drawn from a host of other professions and academic disciplines and from all around the world conclude there is no climate emergency.

The Truth About Coal And The Lies Of The Elite
So much for all the COP 26 banter late last year. Let me remind you. The elites all flew in on their private jets and promptly told us we’re all (royal we) getting off fossil fuels and killing coal.So how’s that turning out? The usage of coal is now at record highs:

Britain is Breaking Down; The Economy Is Struggling, Living Standards Are Falling, Institutions Are Failing
Successive governments have brought Britain to its knees. This article will focus on Britain as representative of the general malaise that is afflicting almost all the developed world. Our current crop of politicians have discarded the resources that brought the country out of the post war decline ... In spite of being rich in energy resources Britain is now in an energy crisis, our leaders have sacrificed prosperity on the altar of Net Zero, committing the nation to our reducing our 1% contribution to harmful emissions still further ...

Climate Scientists' Mathematical Models Of Reality Wrong Again…New Study Shows Jet Stream Strengthening, Not Weakening
recent research  by Samantha Hallam et al published in the journal Climate Dynamics looks at the seasonal variations over decades in Northern Hemisphere jet stream latitude and speed over land for the period 1871–2011. The authors report that they found no evidence of weakening of the sort climate alarmists have been warning about for the past three decades.

Official Advice - Prepare For Blackouts This Winter
The UK government is putting plans together for days of organised blackouts this winter, in what they call a "reasonable worst-case scenario" for energy shortages, according to reports in manstream media. Naturally they are blaming this on the embargo on importing gas from Russia but in reality Britain has never imported any more than a small amout of its gas from Russia. The real reason politicians and energy company CEOs are panicking is entirely due to their obession with obtaining all our energy from intermittent sources like wind and sunshine ...

UK Households Are Paying Wind Turbine Owners To Not Generate Electricity
On another near windless day here in the United Kingdom, Boggart Blog came across a very interesting piece if news. According to figures published by the business and management consultancy LCP, british taxpayers have been paying operators of wind turbines farms for the time their windmills were NOT generating electricity increased to record levels last year ...

Net Zero Is A Dangerous Fantasy, But Scientists Believe In Fairies It Seems
With oil and gas prices rocketing and the highly propted sustainable energy sources performing way befow expectations the energy crisis currently gripping Europe (with worse to come as food shortages start to bite, polticians still seem more intent on pandering to the green lobby and chasing the dream of a fossil fuel free world rather securing the energy and food supplies needed by the people they serve.

Net Zero Will Lead To The End Of Modern Civilisation, Says Top Scientist
In a recently published science paper, Dr. Wallace Manheimer said Net Zero would be the end of modern civilisation. Writing about wind and solar power he argued it would be especially tragic “when not only will this new infrastructure fail, but will cost trillions, trash large portions of the environment, and be entirely unnecessary”.

Germany Forcing Farmers To Use LESS Fertilizer To Satisfy EU’s Green Agenda
The German government, already reeling from the public backlash against rising fuel prices, the shortage of gas since supplies from Russia were cut off, and the biggest economic crisis in the EU, has now jumped on another 'woke' bandwagon. The socialist led ruling coalition has banned farmers in one of its federal states from properly fertilizing land in compliance with the latest lunacy of the EU's green agenda ...

Germany haemorrhaging cash to keep country running on as ‘net zero’ becomes zeroeconomic activity
Germany was so desperate to achieve 'net zero' CO2 emissions that for years the country's government closed its fossil fuel-fired and nuclear power plants, replacing those plants with wind and solar power — as well as impoorting huge volumes of natural gas and oil from Russia. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, when NATO (aka the U.S.A.) mandated that the West impose retaliatory sanctions on Russia, including a ban on importation of Russian gas and oil, Germany found itself in a hole:

Just When We Need It Most, Renewable Energy Disappears
In an encouraging sign of a great awakening, million of people in the UK are now, after a week of brutally cold, absolutely windless weather asking "Why have we wasted so much money on wind turbines and harvesting solar energy."
Yet when politicians are asked directly: "How do we keep the lights on and our homes warm when the wind does not blow and the sun is too low in the sky to make much impression on photovoltaic cells that do the business in solar panels?

Europe's Cold Spell Exposes Green Energy Policy Failure
So far the autumn of 2022 has been unusually mild which has had eco-warriors getting worked up and gluing their arses to motorways and airport runways to demand that we stop using oil. However winter temperatures across Europe predictably dropped sharply in late November and through most of December to date have been positively arctic. Scientists have offered the opinion that the cold weather spell the ongoing European gas crisis is now “likely” to worsen significantly as usual seasonal weather spreads across the northern half of the continent, bringing with it an increased need for domestic heating.

Thousands of Dutch farms will be forced out of business to meet new EU 'Nitrogen pollution targets
he globalist technocrats who control The European Union (EU) have enacted new environmental protection laws which will force member states, including The Netherlands, to meet the new targets for reducing emissions, which address nitrogen emissions from human activity rather than Carbon Dioxide, the Netherlands government proposes to shut down a large portion of its farming industry in order to comply with emissions targets ...

Minister's Claim That 40% UK Energy Comes From Renewables Is Technically Illiterate
Britain's newly installed Secretary of State for Energy, Grant Shapps, is still learning the job so perhaps we should cut him some slack, but even so a statement he made on our energy supply today shows astounding ignorance of technical details relating to his portfolio.
Answering a question in Parliament this morning about Britain's ability to reach its target of getting 40% of our energy needs from sustainable sources, Shapps sneered that it was not possible for us to reach 40% now as we already get 43% from wind. Unfortunately the sneering sarcasm was misplaced but served to reveal the man in charge of energy policy does not know the difference between energy and electricity.

Amazing Increase in Global Sea Ice Confounds the Net Zero Warmageddonists
According to a new study based on satellite data, in 2022 there is more Artic sea ice that at any time in the past 30 years. So why after all those dire predictions of doom and devastation has Arctic sea ice cover come roaring back so quickly over the last few years? Nobody knows – apparently not one scientist on the planet can tell you, writes Willis Eschenbach in a short essay for the climate alarmism watchdog site Watts Up With That?

Net Zero Ed - The Most Significant British Politician Of The Century?
Have MPs got smaller or has Ed Miliband got bigger? Has he grown into his boots? Has he outgrown them? It’s easy to forget he has had more affect than any Labour politician in living memory. And not just because of his £2 membership drive that put the Labour party into special measures for five years. What other contenders are there? It’s true that Tony Blair’s war in Iraq had a widespread effect on the prospects of hundreds of thousands in the Middle East – but that will be insignificant against the leadership Ed displayed with his Climate Change Act.

Common Sense Prevails: Germany Is Dismantling Wind Turbines To Make Room For Coal Mining
We have learned vial a piece in OilPrice.com that turbines at a wind farm in western Germany are being dismantled to allow for the expansion of open cast coal mining operations at an adjacent site. The propsal to increase output at the Garzweiler open-pit lignite coal mine has been described as a “paradoxical” situation given that in recent years the German government has been pushing ahead with the closure of coal and nuclear generating plant to appease its nutty but powerful Green party ... German NatGas Consumption Too High To Avoid Energy "Emergency", Regulator Warns As Norway Increases Gas Production

An Energy Crisis In Tandem With A Food Crisis On Top Of An Economic Crisis And A War. This Cannot End Well
As politicians in North America and Europe try to deflect from their own failure that have contributed to the current plethora of crises by blaming Russia and Vladmir Putin for all the current problems, while the war in Ukraine is a contributory factor in each, the real blame lies closer to home.

After Nuclear Phase-Out, Germany Debates Scrapping Coal After deciding to scrap nuclear power, Germany is to debate getting rid of its coal fired generating plant too, Coal is Germany's biggest energy source but also its top polluter and main threat to the unrealistic climate goals imposed by the EU. Chancellor Angela Merkel's government is split on the issue, which pits a vocal environmental movement against energy giants and coal mining regions, with only weeks until her cabinet is set to present its next climate action plan.

Will new clean energy process make coal the fuel of the future
Coal, you exclaim, throwing up your hands in horror, the stuff that covered buildings of industrial towns in black soot, the stuff that choked miners lungs and sent millions of people to early graves? Coal the filthiest fuel ever? How can you say it is clean? Well a new technology recently announced might change your mind. Unless you are a windmill worshipping Warmageddonist of course.

Nuclear Power Risks or How To Stop Worrying And Love The Atom
The Greens, fear and panic merchants, cap and trade profiteers, carbon warmageddonists and usual suspects have been in a funk about the Fukushima nuclear power station accident, demanding we shut down nuclear generation as well as coal mines and oil wells. But the lesson of Fukushima is we should stop worrying and learn to love the atom.

The Nuclear Accident And The Elimination Of Risk
In the wake of the world's worst nuclear accident at Fukushima, Japan; the pusillanimous poltroons of the international fear and panic industry, aka the green movement and the progressive left, are once again demanding that all risk nbe elimiated from human life. And if that means no nuclear electricity, no energy from oil or coal and no light when the sun doesn't shine or the wind doesn't blow - well they haven't though thst through yet. Coal Fired Power Stations Win ReprieveIn what looks like a u-turn on green energy policy the coalition government have abandoned plans to support and subsidiese operators of sustainable energy generating plants. While environment activists and green campaigners are calling this a betrayal the case may well be that in the harsh reality of governing claims made by green energy firms look totally unrealistic ...
Climate Change: Green Energy Meltdown .As the climate science fraud and the case it made that carbon emissions were the sole cause of global warming and carbon taxes, trading in carbon allowances green energy technologies that belonged in science fiction novels were the way to power the future and save the planet comes unravelled: as the great green energy experiments of Denmark and Spain leave those nations shivering in the dark as power supplies fail and subsidies to green generators bankrupt national economies we look at the real state of the climate crisis.
The Rising Seas Are Not Down To Global Warming Alone.Rising Seas Not Down To Global Warming A new study shows that global warming is not the only cause of swelling seas. Much comes from "water mining" – the pumping of vast amounts of groundwater from beneath the earth, mainly to irrigate crops. This inevitably ends up in the oceans after it evaporates from farmland and comes down as rain.
The study which will be published in the next issue issue of Geophysics Research Letters – estimates that extraction of ground water for domestic and industrial use accounts for about 25% of sea-level rise around the world, the same as the melting ice from the glaciers outside Greenland and Antarctica.

Never Mind The Propaganda, What Is The Real State Of Play Around Ukraine?

by Egbert Nohbakkon, 24 January 2023

When discussing the progress of the Ukraine war, there are two heresies that if expressed by a person trying to present a realistic and balanced report on the current situation are guaranteed to attract a lage hate - mob of Belendskyyyy fan - club cultists. The first of these is to suggest that Putin may yet prevail in smashing the liberal order in the US / EU / NATO alliance that nas been propping up Bellendskyyyy and the corrupt, neo - Nazi regime in Kiev. The second is that the Russians may have actually triumphed in this already. Western leaders are never going to admit that Russia has outplayed them on all fronts, slowly gringing away in the shooting war while radpidly undermining US hegemony and dollar dominance in the economic conflict.

The  alternative reality inhabited by the Bellendskyyyyy fan club is honourably black and white. Moved by the braveey and stoicism of the Ukrainians, we demand the wetern alliance pumps more and more high tech wesponary and specialist 'support' personnel into the theatre of war until a just victory is delivered for Ukraine's regime.

But the fact is that despite daily reports fot the past six months at least that Ukrainian troops had routed the invading Russians ans were rapidly advancing on Murmansk and Vladivostock, (you might need to look at a map to get that one,) Ukraine is not on course for outright victory. Quite the contrary, as it stands it cannot eliminate Russian forces and, in fact, is increasingly on the back foot. Zelensky’s reconquest of the country is faltering. The much hyped recapture of Kherson by Ukrainian forces was in fct simply a case of the Ukrainian army walking into a city from which Russia had withdrawn  its troops in order to consolidate behind more easily defensible lines ahead of winter. Similarly the reported advances by Ukraine in the Donbas region were simply a reoccupation of flat, sparsely populated farmland as, having crossed those plains to concentrate its forces around the strategic targets of Bakhmut and Soledar.

With the NATO members hesitating on supplying modern, heavy battle tanks tanks, the Ukrainian military command does not have sufficient weapons to launch preemptive strikes before Putin escalates in spring. And if the truth was acknowledged by mainstream media, nor do they habe the troop numbers.

*

For all the weakness of Putin’s military, we are heading for, at best, a catastrophic stalemate, and at worst, a decisive Russian breakthrough. Although Ukraine has the numbers and resolve to uphold its sovereignty, its Russian counterparts have superior stockpiles of weapons and ammunition. Moreover, the Kremlin is reportedly set to mobilise half a million new conscripts as it seeks to escalate the war from drones and artillery to planes and tanks – a massive shift.

This makes the West’s current strategy increasingly untenable. Until now, it has lent Ukraine just enough help to drag out the war in an effort to grind down the Russian military, while stopping short of the kind of intervention that might decisively shift the outcome. But as Russia changes the conflict’s dynamics, Ukraine, deprived of the necessary capabilities, could quickly go from having the upper hand to a cataclysmic rout.

The west has become soft, weak and morally degenerate . Russia China and other malicious groups can see this and are using our values of trust , openness and democracy to undermine our society . People's lives in the west have become too easy. The priorities are wrong - work for many is optional , taxes for those who do are too high and governments prefer socialism and virtue signalling - on matters such as climate change, net zero, equality , human "rights" , saving the planet , "free" trade [including with enemies] , the "peace" dividend , international charity , "free" welfare for all and excusing crime - to ensuring social stability ,economic health & national security. In the end socialists always run out of other peoples money .....We know that if pursued relentlessly socialism doesn't produce the intended utopia but still we persist .

Government polices are also undermining the family and tradition - values which have worked for centuries . Free speech , individual and personal responsibly, self help , incentives to work and to save - all are under threat. Meanwhile governments favour the regulation and monitoring of every aspect of our lives , money printing and borrowing [ apparently suspending the laws of economics & the business cycle] , the preservation of the "environment" , a spend now- pay later culture , an obsession with net zero , immigration , identity politics and equality. It s not that such things don't have some merit but the balance has become completely distorted . Voters who can see this, are it seems longer in the majority and even if they were have little influence. The west looks to be in a slow death spiral . It all feels very fin de siecle and like the last days of Rome.

The West is walking towards disaster. In 1992 we thought Russia was a basket-case ready to be absorbed and that China was in our pocket as we moved toward a one world government on the basis of UN Agenda 21 and social liberalism. Slowly it became apparent that neither were on-board with the agenda. Unable to drop the long held plan we chose conflict rather than cooperation. Fortunately for their sanity, most people in the West think Ukraine is another local squabble before normal service is resumed. It is a tragedy almost beyond belief.

Liberal democracies increasingly resigned to their own decline and weary of the traditional values that have held nation states together values – not least the values of individual freedom and personal sovereignty. This decline was highlighted in Putin's comment to the FT that “the liberal idea” had “outlived its purpose. It also chimes with global ambivalence to the Ukraine war. South Africa has just given Lavrov a warm reception, while other countries have abstained in the UN and/or continue trading with Russia. Even in Germany half the population backs Scholz's unwillingness to supply tanks.

Why is this happening now? Surely it is because Western values have changed. When the Berlin wall fell, we still stood for freedom - to vote, publish, study, work, travel and trade. Many countries liked that and moved towards democracy. We seem now to be losing faith in those freedoms, preferring to criticise and apologise for our own history and previous social values and to tolerate government overreach in response to (mainly manufactured,) crises. Even free speech is under assault from the new morality of wokeism, and government agencies very similar to The Thought Police of Orwell's dydtopian novel '1984' establishing systems of total surveillance and policing all our social interactions for instances of 'hate speech' or questioning of the regimes narratives, and ever watchful for unconscious isms and phobias.

No wonder the world doesn't feel inspired by what liberalism has degenerated into. At least Russia believes in its own values. China, India, the Islamic world and Christian Africa can relate to that, notably Russia's rejection of the west's disproportionate emphasis on LBGT lifestyles and sex equality at the expense of family life, and the cultural ties that bind societies.

NATO, which the Taliban defeated in Afghanistan and the proxies of which, in the shape of Islamic State, was defeated by Syria, Iran and Russia in the middle east, will also be defeated in Ukraine. It's inevitable. The supply lines to the fronts in this conflict are a hundredfold better for Russia than for NATO. On tanks alone, Russia has 10,000 units of all sorts of quality while Britain sends 14 units and Germany dithers about 100 units, and the USA refuses to send any.

That's quite comical, yet the Bellendskyyyyyy fan club, always well represented in internet comment threads claim these paltry few tanks, which while touted as likely game changers in the conflict, are decades old designs and technologies.

We've been here before, HIMARS was the magic wand until it wasn't. NLAW and Javelin were the magic wands until they weren't. Now Patriot systems are (not) working their magic against cheap drones (imagine the cost-benefit analysis of firing Patriot missiles against drones powered by lawnmower engines,) and the mighty Challenger and Leopard 2 will (not) be forcing the Ruskies to turn tail. What next will be the magic bullet against the Ruskies and why is a magic bullet needed when according to the official narrative Ukraine has been winning the war from the very early days? And come to that, if the narrative is true why has Ukraine not already advanced to Archangel and Vladivostock, conquering the whole of Russia in the process.

The fan club have cheered the Ukrainians for every real and propaganda victory. Some have even suggested the nuking of Moscow (yeah, right) and the killing of Putin (why would you assume his replacement will be milder?) while others have claimed he is already dead. Yet, right now, the Ruskies control 20% of Ukraine, (an area the size of England). Here we are. Where will we be in 6 months? Gloating in Moscow (unlikely) or whimpering in Kiev) possible)? If only the Ukrainians knew how to live as a neutral party next to wannabe hegemonic a giant as Mexico and Canada have learned to do.

As the multiple crises in Europe deepen with no sign of relief in sight, Oriental Review comments that the ill-considered sanctions against Russia, far from achieving their objective of pressuiring Moscow into ending its war in Ukraine, have exposed the deep rooted problems of the European Union which is rapidly approaching economic collapse. Without offering any evidence in support of its allegation the article states that a large number of businesses are on the verge of bankruptcy.

We are in the grip of an energy crisis at the height of summer. Last week, it was reported that the UK government is laying down plans for a “reasonable worst-case scenario” including blackouts for industry and even households. And this is as energy prices spiral out of control to new records every day.

Is Russia Selling Its Oil To The World Through An Obscure Egyptian Port?
As this blog predicted when NATO and EU member states shot themselves in the foot by reacting to Russia's invasion of Ukraine with sanctions that prevented Russia from selling oil, gas and vital raw materials to the countries that needed them most, the NATO and EU member states, the Russians have had no problems finding alternative customers for their gas and oil and no problem getting oil into the world's commodity markets through the back door.

Jingoistic Western Triumphalism Will Not End The War In Ukraine Or Cripple Putin, But It Is Crippling Western Nations

As the war in Ukraine grinds on and Russia steps up its economic war against the west and in particular The European Union, claims made recently by the idiotically 'woke' leaders of Europe's main economic and military powers that the West has a once-in-a–generation chance to severely weaken Russia’s capabilities, both militarily and geopolitically, look increasingly hollow. Putin's critics have cited 'Western unity' as one of the main reasons why Russia will be economically destroyed and politically humiliated when the Ukraine's military finally claim victory.

We The Good Guys Versus They The Bad Guys Reporting Does Not Make Sense For The Ukraine Crisis
Mainstream media reporting of the conflict in Ukraine has disappointed. Boris and Biden Can't Blame Ukraine War For Energy Crisis
With typical arrogance and condescension towards the people who elected them Boris Johnson, Joe Biden and their respectiive presstitutes are trying to spin the energy crisis Europe and North America are currently facing as somehow being linked to the conflict in Ukraine and therfore blame is being attactched to Russia and Vladimir Putin.
