And The War In Ukraine Grinds On

Due to the absence in this blog of reporting on the war in Ukraine readers may have come to the conclusion that we Boggart Bloggers no longer considered it important. That is not quite true, though we are still aware of the importance of Ukraine to the future of the liberal democracies in western Europe, we are only three old guys (with occasional contributions from friends in the alt_news community,) and have simply been overwhelmed by events closer to home.

The problem with getting a clear picture of  the conflict it that neither side can afford to lose the war, for logistical reasons NATO and Ukraine cannot possibly win.

Here are a couple of short reports from Telegram which are quite interesting and can be verifies to the extent that they are to some extent true:

https://t.me/rezident_ua/21837

As military analysts predicted, after the fall of Avdeevka, the Donbass front became the main one for the Ukrainian Armed Forces at this stage of the war.

The Russian army continues to develop its offensive, and the operation to capture Avdeevka was not just a success for the enemy, but also a big blow for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian army managed to capture the main fortified area of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which had been preparing for battle for about 10 years. The settlement of Severnoye near Avdeevka is also occupied by the Russian army. The Russian Armed Forces entered the settlement. Berdychi and Tonenkoye, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces are retreating in Orlovka. At the same time, which is typical, Ukraine does not have a second line of defense - this is openly stated by the chief editor of Censor, Yuri Butusov, who back in November 2023 declared the need to prepare one. That is, now the front is steadily moving south.

The situation is difficult for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to the north, in the area of Chasov Yar - the village of Ivanovskoye, the main outpost between Chasov Yar and Bakhmut, has already been half taken under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.

As we see, the loss of reserves and the poor command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syrsky began to seriously affect the situation. The destruction of one group or another has become a matter of time, and losses in positions where the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have time to gain a foothold are unacceptably high.

Russia found a weak spot in the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

With the liberation of the settlement of Petrovskoye (Ukrainian name - Stepovoye), the front near Avdeevka aligned along the line Petrovskoye - Lastochkino - Severnoye - Vodyanoye. One can judge the “domino effect” after the withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Avdiivka on February 17. In just 11 days, the Russian army occupied several settlements at once, which the enemy abandoned so as not to be surrounded. And we will probably borrow a few more in the coming days.

Obviously, we have found a weak point in the battle formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Now, in order to prevent the collapse of the front, the Ukrainians will be forced to transfer reinforcements here from neighboring areas. And this, in turn, creates a window of opportunity for us to make breakthroughs elsewhere. And the greater the losses the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffer, the more difficult it will become for them to “plug the holes with their bodies.” The Russian army continues to advance.

How the West’s sanctions against Russia have backfired

As Boggart Blog and our companion publication The Daily Stirrer were saying around a year ago, western sanctions on Russia as a reprisal for the invasion of Ukraine have harmed the sanctioning nations more than they have the target.

by Rodney Atkinson via TCW, 7 September 2023

SANCTIONS against Russia have proved to be a farce, with damaging blowback against European economies, continued (but never mentioned) Western energy imports from Russia, a big recovery in Russian GDP growth since early 2022 and a major Russian programme of import substitution aiming at long-term self-sufficiency in goods and services previously bought from the West.

In the first seven months of this year, Russia has been the second biggest supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to EU countries:

While Russian oil is banned, fuels derived from Russian oil are flooding Europe. This is because Russian oil sales have boomed to China, India and Turkey, where it is turned into oil products which are exported to the West.

India’s oil imports from Russia peaked at 69million barrels in May, almost ten times more than in the same period in 2021. In turn India shipped 5.1million barrels of diesel fuel and 3.2million barrels of jet fuel to the EU in June, compared with 1.68m barrels and 0.51m barrels in June 2021.

Ukraine has called on the West to ban the supply of all refined oil products to G7 countries if they were produced using Russian oil but such a measure would risk serious economic costs on the industrial economies at a time of high inflation and a feared recession.

In addition to high sales to Europe, the NGO Global Witness found that China was a major buyer of Russian LNG. Overall imports by Europe have increased by 40 per cent compared with the same period in 2021, and the value of LNG imported between January and July was €5.29billion.

In a classic case of energy sanctions backfiring, Germany stopped Russian gas only to import massive amounts of fertilisers produced from that gas. Cheaper imports of Russian fertilisers have increased by 334 per cent.  ... Continue reading >>>

Jingoistic Western Triumphalism Will Not End The War In Ukraine Or Cripple Putin, But It Is Crippling Western Nations

As the war in Ukraine grinds on and Russia steps up its economic war against the west and in particular The European Union, claims made recently by the idiotically 'woke' leaders of Europe's main economic and military powers that the West has a once-in-a–generation chance to severely weaken Russia’s capabilities, both militarily and geopolitically, look increasingly hollow. BRICS Bloc Moves To Add New Members and Create A New Currency To Challenge US Dollar

As we have reported on this blog and our other publications many times, while the west has been tearing itself apart with divisive and economically suicidal policies the BRICS bloc, consisting so far of founder members Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa is  currentlt inundated with applications for membership and is moving to expand, both as its members grow in economic and geopolitical influence and by adding new members.

Together, the current BRICS members represent more than 40% of the global population, and their share of the world economy (when measured in purchasing power parity) is larger than that of the G7.

The foreign ministers of the BRICS member states met in South Africa on June 1 and 2. There, in addition to offering new memberships of the group they discussed a series of issues, including plans to create a new global reserve currency to challenge the dominance of the US dollar.

Also present at the meeting in South Africa was a group of top diplomats from countries described as “friends of BRICS”, including Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates any of which is likely to figure in the first wave of BRICS expansion.

More than 20 countries have already shown interest in joining BRICS. At least 13 nations have formally applied.

South Africa’s ambassador to BRICS commented, “We are getting applications to join every day”.

Prospective future members not represented among the friends of BRICS include Algeria, Argentina, Bahrain, Belarus, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and the UAE.

At the June foreign ministers meeting, Bloomberg reported, “BRICS nations asked the bloc’s specially created bank to provide guidance on a how a potential new shared currency might work, including how it could shield other member countries from the impact of sanctions such as those imposed on Russia”.

“The use of alternative currencies was among the prominent talking points” at the meeting, Bloomberg noted.

South Africa’s foreign minister, Naledi Pandor, explained at a press conference that BRICS members want to “ensure that we do not become victims to sanctions that have secondary effects on countries that have no involvement in issues that have led to those unilateral sanctions”.

It has already been universally acknowledged that the US led campaign of sanctions on Russia in the wake of Moscow's invading Ukraine have backfired, wreaking more economic havoc in the sanctioning nationsd than in those sanctioned.

Reuters acknowledged that the BRICS “ministers sought to focus attention on their ambition to build up their influence in a multi-polar world”.

It was obvious from the moment sanctions were imposed that Russia and its customers would continue to do business through companies trading under the banking equivalent of a flag of convenience.

Russia and China announce a new global reserve currencyIt was always on the cards that Russia, China and rest of the BRICS countries would use the CIA / NATO engineered war in Ukraine to launch the main thrust of their economic war on the west, in fact after having written so much in our Currency Wars page about the inevitability of Russia and China challenging the US dollar’s global reserve status, now, it’s happening we can only say: "We Told You So".

NATO Rhetoric About Russian Threat is 'Absurd'
The reasons being given for the latest NATO military buildup in Eastern Europe, the idea that the Russian 'Russian threat' to Eastern Europe grows every day is "simply absurd," according to former US diplomat and Senate policy advisor Jim Jatras. The Demise Of Dollar Hegemony: Russia Breaks Wall Streets's Oil-Price Monopoly
Significant moves in the global chess game have just rendered the huffing and puffing of warmonger Obama meaningless and will break Wall Street's monopoly in controlling oil markets. The move is part of Vladimir Putin's long-term strategy of decoupling Russia’s economy and especially its very significant export of oil, from the US dollar, in effect ...

Naked Bankers Go For Gold
... That gold sale in 2013 was a naked short. The seller had no gold to sell. COMEX reported having gold only equal to about half of the short sale in its vaults, and not all of that was available for delivery (quite a lot of it belonged to the german government) In effect the naked shorting of gold could only work because really the right hand was selling to the left hand.

The Demise Of Dollar Hegemony: Russia Breaks Wall Streets's Oil-Price Monopoly In a move that went almost completely unreported in mainstream media, Russia has recently opened a market for the trading of physical and 'paper' oil (futures) in Moscow in Roubles. This is the most blatant challenge yet to the domination of the US dollar in world trade.

WMD in Mayfair
Recalling yesterday's Machiavelli Blog which commented on events surrounding the unfortunate death of the alleged former Russian agent Alexander Litvinenko, it seems the murder investigation has now found evidence of many caches (well OK, traces) of radio active toxins in various fashionable establishments in London's West End frequented by former Russian intelligence agents.

Zelensky Admits Ukraine Already Ran Out Of Ammo

Authored by Andrew Korybko via TheAutomaticEarth.com,

The US-led West’s Mainstream Media (MSM) began reporting more accurately on the military-strategic dynamics of the NATO-Russian proxy war in Ukraine since the start of the year, but the true test of their comparatively improved integrity will be whether they raise awareness about Zelensky’s latest damning admission. In an interview with Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun, he candidly told his interlocutors that “We do not have ammunition. For us the situation in the East is not good.”

This is a major revelation for several reasons.

  • First, it proves that Russia is winning NATO’s self-declared “race of logistics in the sense that its armed forces still have ammo to continue fighting while the West’s Ukrainian proxies already ran out of that which their patrons provided over the past year.

  • Second, the aforesaid aid that was already extended to this crumbling former Soviet Republic exceeds $100 billion, which makes Russia’s leading position in this “race of logistics”
    Continurall the more impressive.

  • Third, Zelensky’s admission adds credence to what the Washington Post recently reported regarding how poorly Kiev’s forces are faring in this conflict, especially its “severe ammunition shortages” that one of its sources spoke about. Fourth, the preceding points drastically decrease the chances that Kiev’s upcoming counteroffensive will achieve much of anything and actually make it increasingly likely that such a move would be an epic mistake that could ultimately lead to a decisive Russian breakthrough.

  • And finally, it can therefore be expected that Zelensky and his agents of influence across the West will beg for even more aid, arguing that the failure to pay up would risking making their prior investments in this proxy war all for naught if Kiev ends up losing to Russia. The problem, however, is that no amount of money can make ammunition appear out of thin air since it requires a lot of time to scale production accordingly to meet these newfound exorbitant needs.

The very fact that Ukraine is out of ammunition proves that the West’s defeat in its self-declared “race of logistics” with Russia might already be a fait accompli by this point since it’s clear that Kiev can’t keep pace with its opponent despite being backed by all of NATO’s military-industrial capacity. ... Never Mind The Propaganda, What Is The Real State Of Play Around Ukraine?

by Egbert Nohbakkon, 24 January 2023

When discussing the progress of the Ukraine war, there are two heresies that if expressed by a person trying to present a realistic and balanced report on the current situation are guaranteed to attract a lage hate - mob of Belendskyyyy fan - club cultists. The first of these is to suggest that Putin may yet prevail in smashing the liberal order in the US / EU / NATO alliance that nas been propping up Bellendskyyyy and the corrupt, neo - Nazi regime in Kiev. The second is that the Russians may have actually triumphed in this already. Western leaders are never going to admit that Russia has outplayed them on all fronts, slowly gringing away in the shooting war while radpidly undermining US hegemony and dollar dominance in the economic conflict.

The  alternative reality inhabited by the Bellendskyyyyy fan club is honourably black and white. Moved by the braveey and stoicism of the Ukrainians, we demand the wetern alliance pumps more and more high tech wesponary and specialist 'support' personnel into the theatre of war until a just victory is delivered for Ukraine's regime.

But the fact is that despite daily reports fot the past six months at least that Ukrainian troops had routed the invading Russians ans were rapidly advancing on Murmansk and Vladivostock, (you might need to look at a map to get that one,) Ukraine is not on course for outright victory. Quite the contrary, as it stands it cannot eliminate Russian forces and, in fact, is increasingly on the back foot. Zelensky’s reconquest of the country is faltering. The much hyped recapture of Kherson by Ukrainian forces was in fct simply a case of the Ukrainian army walking into a city from which Russia had withdrawn  its troops in order to consolidate behind more easily defensible lines ahead of winter. Similarly the reported advances by Ukraine in the Donbas region were simply a reoccupation of flat, sparsely populated farmland as, having crossed those plains to concentrate its forces around the strategic targets of Bakhmut and Soledar.

With the NATO members hesitating on supplying modern, heavy battle tanks tanks, the Ukrainian military command does not have sufficient weapons to launch preemptive strikes before Putin escalates in spring. And if the truth was acknowledged by mainstream media, nor do they habe the troop numbers.

*

For all the weakness of Putin’s military, we are heading for, at best, a catastrophic stalemate, and at worst, a decisive Russian breakthrough. Although Ukraine has the numbers and resolve to uphold its sovereignty, its Russian counterparts have superior stockpiles of weapons and ammunition. Moreover, the Kremlin is reportedly set to mobilise half a million new conscripts as it seeks to escalate the war from drones and artillery to planes and tanks – a massive shift.

This makes the West’s current strategy increasingly untenable. Until now, it has lent Ukraine just enough help to drag out the war in an effort to grind down the Russian military, while stopping short of the kind of intervention that might decisively shift the outcome. But as Russia changes the conflict’s dynamics, Ukraine, deprived of the necessary capabilities, could quickly go from having the upper hand to a cataclysmic rout.

The west has become soft, weak and morally degenerate . Russia China and other malicious groups can see this and are using our values of trust , openness and democracy to undermine our society . People's lives in the west have become too easy. The priorities are wrong - work for many is optional , taxes for those who do are too high and governments prefer socialism and virtue signalling - on matters such as climate change, net zero, equality , human "rights" , saving the planet , "free" trade [including with enemies] , the "peace" dividend , international charity , "free" welfare for all and excusing crime - to ensuring social stability ,economic health & national security. In the end socialists always run out of other peoples money .....We know that if pursued relentlessly socialism doesn't produce the intended utopia but still we persist .

Government polices are also undermining the family and tradition - values which have worked for centuries . Free speech , individual and personal responsibly, self help , incentives to work and to save - all are under threat. Meanwhile governments favour the regulation and monitoring of every aspect of our lives , money printing and borrowing [ apparently suspending the laws of economics & the business cycle] , the preservation of the "environment" , a spend now- pay later culture , an obsession with net zero , immigration , identity politics and equality. It s not that such things don't have some merit but the balance has become completely distorted . Voters who can see this, are it seems longer in the majority and even if they were have little influence. The west looks to be in a slow death spiral . It all feels very fin de siecle and like the last days of Rome.

The West is walking towards disaster. In 1992 we thought Russia was a basket-case ready to be absorbed and that China was in our pocket as we moved toward a one world government on the basis of UN Agenda 21 and social liberalism. Slowly it became apparent that neither were on-board with the agenda. Unable to drop the long held plan we chose conflict rather than cooperation. Fortunately for their sanity, most people in the West think Ukraine is another local squabble before normal service is resumed. It is a tragedy almost beyond belief.

Liberal democracies increasingly resigned to their own decline and weary of the traditional values that have held nation states together values – not least the values of individual freedom and personal sovereignty. This decline was highlighted in Putin's comment to the FT that “the liberal idea” had “outlived its purpose. It also chimes with global ambivalence to the Ukraine war. South Africa has just given Lavrov a warm reception, while other countries have abstained in the UN and/or continue trading with Russia. Even in Germany half the population backs Scholz's unwillingness to supply tanks.

Why is this happening now? Surely it is because Western values have changed. When the Berlin wall fell, we still stood for freedom - to vote, publish, study, work, travel and trade. Many countries liked that and moved towards democracy. We seem now to be losing faith in those freedoms, preferring to criticise and apologise for our own history and previous social values and to tolerate government overreach in response to (mainly manufactured,) crises. Even free speech is under assault from the new morality of wokeism, and government agencies very similar to The Thought Police of Orwell's dydtopian novel '1984' establishing systems of total surveillance and policing all our social interactions for instances of 'hate speech' or questioning of the regimes narratives, and ever watchful for unconscious isms and phobias.

No wonder the world doesn't feel inspired by what liberalism has degenerated into. At least Russia believes in its own values. China, India, the Islamic world and Christian Africa can relate to that, notably Russia's rejection of the west's disproportionate emphasis on LBGT lifestyles and sex equality at the expense of family life, and the cultural ties that bind societies.

NATO, which the Taliban defeated in Afghanistan and the proxies of which, in the shape of Islamic State, was defeated by Syria, Iran and Russia in the middle east, will also be defeated in Ukraine. It's inevitable. The supply lines to the fronts in this conflict are a hundredfold better for Russia than for NATO. On tanks alone, Russia has 10,000 units of all sorts of quality while Britain sends 14 units and Germany dithers about 100 units, and the USA refuses to send any.

That's quite comical, yet the Bellendskyyyyyy fan club, always well represented in internet comment threads claim these paltry few tanks, which while touted as likely game changers in the conflict, are decades old designs and technologies.

We've been here before, HIMARS was the magic wand until it wasn't. NLAW and Javelin were the magic wands until they weren't. Now Patriot systems are (not) working their magic against cheap drones (imagine the cost-benefit analysis of firing Patriot missiles against drones powered by lawnmower engines,) and the mighty Challenger and Leopard 2 will (not) be forcing the Ruskies to turn tail. What next will be the magic bullet against the Ruskies and why is a magic bullet needed when according to the official narrative Ukraine has been winning the war from the very early days? And come to that, if the narrative is true why has Ukraine not already advanced to Archangel and Vladivostock, conquering the whole of Russia in the process.

The fan club have cheered the Ukrainians for every real and propaganda victory. Some have even suggested the nuking of Moscow (yeah, right) and the killing of Putin (why would you assume his replacement will be milder?) while others have claimed he is already dead. Yet, right now, the Ruskies control 20% of Ukraine, (an area the size of England). Here we are. Where will we be in 6 months? Gloating in Moscow (unlikely) or whimpering in Kiev) possible)? If only the Ukrainians knew how to live as a neutral party next to wannabe hegemonic a giant as Mexico and Canada have learned to do.

So whodunnit? Sabotage of undersea gas pipe will escalate tension and move the world closer to nuclear war, but who is behind it, Russia in a bid to put more presure on Europe, Ukraine in an attempt to drag NATO into direct action, or the USA using a CIA false flag event to advance its own agenda.

Europe's Economy And Living Standards Are Plummeting
As the multiple crises in Europe deepen with no sign of relief in sight, Oriental Review comments that the ill-considered sanctions against Russia, far from achieving their objective of pressuiring Moscow into ending its war in Ukraine, have exposed the deep rooted problems of the European Union which is rapidly approaching economic collapse. Without offering any evidence in support of its allegation the article states that a large number of businesses are on the verge of bankruptcy.

An Energy Crisis In Tandem With A Food Crisis On Top Of An Economic Crisis And A War. This Cannot End Well
As politicians in North America and Europe try to deflect from their own failure that have contributed to the current plethora of crises by blaming Russia and Vladmir Putin for all the current problems, while the war in Ukraine is a contributory factor in each, the real blame lies closer to home.

Swedish Media Outlet Publishes Leaked U.S. Document On How to CRUSH Europe Economy via Ukraine War Effort
Swedish news organisation Nya Dagbladet has published a leaked top secret US plans to use the war in Ukraine and an induced energy crisis to destroy European economies. The report claims the RAND Corporation a defence and foreign policy think tank founded by military aircraft maker Douglas has the official aim of improving policies and decision-making, is the source of its evidence.

Has Putin Has Pushed Europe Into Economic Depression, Hyperrinflation and Currency Collapse?
Though it was entirely predictable and indeed had been expected for some time, the news over the weekend that the Nord Stream 1 pipeline which feeds gas from Russia to northern Europe via The Baltic route had been shut down completely by The Kremlin in retaliation for the continued financial and military support given by NATO and EU member states to Ukraine in the conflict with Russia. The European Commission, governing body of the EU, immediately put the community on something close to a war footing, ...

Do We Have A Winter Of Civil Disobedience Ahead?
As many people in Britain slap on the apres sun gloop in the wake of what passes for a heatwave in these cool cloudy climes, our inept politicians caught with their pants down by unusual weather as usual have heard that that winter is coming and are making plans for a coldwave. We are in the grip of an energy crisis at the height of summer. Last week, it was reported that the UK government is laying down plans for a “reasonable worst-case scenario” including blackouts for industry and even households. And this is as energy prices spiral out of control to new records every day.

Is Russia Selling Its Oil To The World Through An Obscure Egyptian Port?
As this blog predicted when NATO and EU member states shot themselves in the foot by reacting to Russia's invasion of Ukraine with sanctions that prevented Russia from selling oil, gas and vital raw materials to the countries that needed them most, the NATO and EU member states, the Russians have had no problems finding alternative customers for their gas and oil and no problem getting oil into the world's commodity markets through the back door.

Since very soon after the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine western powers, USA, UK, EU and NATO have been doing everything possible to prolong and escalate the war.

Putin's critics have cited 'Western unity' as one of the main reasons why Russia will be economically destroyed and politically humiliated when the Ukraine's military finally claim victory.

The Wider War: When You've Got Them By The Bollocks Their Hearts And Minds Will Follow

Mahatma Kotee, 7 November 2022

The most important observers of the Ukraine crisis are not the mainstream media jornalists and opinion writers of mainstream media in the NATO member states but the business, political and media elites of nations not currently involved.  They are watching the US / NATO proxy wargainst Russia unfolding (to the cost of Ukrainian people who wish life would just return to some sort of normality, in order to assess whether the US/West is has declined so far that it is now time to replace the US$ as global reserve currency and complete the shift of geopolitical power from west to east.

Such things can become self perpetuating very quickly and the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan in the early days of the Biden administration  certainly set the tone for the presidency of the demented old pervert in The White House. Joe Biden's presidency has certainly dealt the US a number of blows to its credibility as a global superpower. Given how badly the US treated its allies it is not hard to understand why support for Us efforts to escalate the local war in Ukraine into a wider conflict has been so sparse. The inability to subjugate Iran and the failure in Iraq/Venezuela/Nicaragua (now with much greater Iranian influence than before the US invasion), plus the almost total surrender of manufacturing power to China has already reduced the US stature/ability to scare with the non-West elites.

Unfortunately mainstream media has been almost silent on this, which is why though we see daily the screams of outrage about the brutality of the nasty Russian bullies have been doing to little Ukraine from the wankerati in internet comment threads, there is no outrage about the brutal treatment the nast Saudi Arabian bullies have been inflicing (with material and technical support from the USA and the rest of NATO,) on little Yemen for the past eleven years. Could it be that while our leaders understand the vast oil reserves of Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies / client states have us by the bollocks because in spite of all the green rhetoric the developed world would grind to a halt without oil.

And for this reason demented Joe Biden's handlers and Europe's sock puppet leaders, Macron of France, now disgraced UK ex - Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Germany's clown Chancellor Olaf Scholz are happy to ignore Saudi humanitarian crimes, while they still believe a war with Russia is winnable and that once the war is won and the Russian regime overthrown, western corporations will be able to divvy up Russia''s vast resources in oil and gas, raw chemicals, rare earth metals and lithium and the vast agricultural resources of the steppes.

With Ukraine the West has really backed itself into a corner with its ignorant assumptions about the strength of Russia and the readiness of the non-West elites to support Russia or refuse to sanction it. With Europe in dire straits due to the sanctions or Russia and Russia's weaponisation of the gas supplies so much of Europes economy depends on, and the Federal Reserve seemingly intent on "breaking something" to bring down inflation it seems things can only get worse. A successful Russian winter campaign will only increase the Russian prestige more and reduce that of the West. So logically the West should start to back down and negotiate.

Unfortunately, I don't think that the Western elites can stomach the geopolitical loss of being shown to have lost in Ukraine and will therefore stick to their Ukrainian strategy for much longer than is  either logical or sane. In addition, the Western elites have invested a lot to gain control of the Ukrainian black soil and its other resources, together with an impoverished and therefore compliant workforce. There are also a lot of smoking guns in Ukraine pointing to US bio-labs and extensive involvement of the Western political elites in Ukrainian corruption and neo Nazi activity. In addition, they left Afghanistan, after 20 years of failure, turned Libya rom Africa's most prosperous, socially advanced and economically stable nation into a failed state with a tripartate civil war raging since 2011 as tribal war lords, Islamic fundamentalists and Organised crime networks vie for supremancy, done much the same in Iraq, exacerbated the Balkanisation of the Balkans and failed to depose the Assad regime in Syria.

I would not be surprised to see this war in Ukraine dragging on until the winter of 2023/2024 when Europe will be faced with a much bigger disaster given a probable colder winter (El Nino after 3 years of La Nina) and lower gas storage levels (no Russian gas at all in 2023). Then there may be severe problems within the Western elites, especially if the US Federal Reserve successfully engineeres a nasty US recession making things even worse for Europe. The loss to the West will be much greater than if they had pulled a "stop loss", but this is how arrogant imperial elites tend to fail - underestimating their opponents and overestimating themselves and then unable to accept the realities that will crumble their view of themselves. How can the elite of the "indispensable nation" accept that they are just ordinary human beings who have been outplayed and now they must negotiate or find a way to back out of this war because Vladimir Putin has them by the bollocks.

A Mostly Wind- & Solar-Powered US Economy Is A Dangerous Fantasy
When President Biden and other advocates of wind and solar generation speak, they appear to believe that the challenge posed is just a matter of currently having too much fossil fuel generation and not enough wind and solar; and therefore, accomplishing the transition to "net zero" will be a simple matter of building sufficient wind and solar facilities and having those facilities replace the current ones that use the fossil fuels.

Beware the dangers of a cashless society
As the country celebrates tradition and prepares for change, one major shift is closer than ever – our move towards becoming a cashless society. It is hard to imagine money without the Queen’s profile proudly embossed, defining our Elizabethan generation in a centuries-old British tradition, but the monarch’s face is fast disappearing from our pockets.

Ukraine Situation Report October 21:

While this blog  and other Greenteeth Digital Publishing pages have reported the economic and political consequences of the war in Ukraine, and of course on events like the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines and the attack on the Kerch Bridge, we have stayed away from commenting on military matters in Ukraine.

While all our contributors were certain the narrative peddled by mainstream media in Europe and North America, which told of Ukrainian heroism and crushing defeats inflicted on the Russian Army by Ukrainian irregulars, we did not know what was actually happening on the ground in Ukraine, only that it was not good for either side.

It was widely known from early in the conflict that Ukrainian forces were taking far heavier casualties than the Russians and when mainstream media produced pictures and video of tanks and other military hardware supposedly destroyed or captured by Ukrainian forces, people with military experience easily noticed these vehicles and weapons were Soviet era technology probably inherited by Ukraine after independence.

The phrase "In war truth is the first casualty," has been attributed to many sources but that does not make it less accurate, and there is no doubt the propaganda being delivered to the people of Russia by their national media is as outrageously distorted as the stories we in the west are seeing. However that does not mean we should accept the bollocks we are being fed without question. What has become quite obvious is that the government of Ukraine does not give a damn about the suffering inflicted on their people, they are intent on only one goal, to draw the NATO powers into a full scale war with Russia.

But at last people who have access to genuine information are starting to speak out:

Reported from a speech by Col. Douglas McGregor, former  and military adviser to the US Secretary of Defense:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, (presumably with the advice of his U.S. and British military advisors), has also adopted a strategy of holding ground in Eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces immobilized themselves inside urban areas, and prepared defenses. As a result, Ukrainian forces turned urban centers into fortifications for what became “last stands.” Sensible withdrawals from cities like Mariupol that might have saved many of Ukraine’s best troops were forbidden. Russian forces responded by methodically isolating and crushing the defenders left with no possibility of either escape or rescue by other Ukrainian forces.

Moscow’s determination to destroy Ukrainian forces at the least cost to Russian lives prevailed. Ukrainian casualties were always heavier than reported from the moment Russian troops crossed into Eastern Ukraine, but now, thanks to the recent failure of Ukrainian counterattacks in the Kherson region, they’ve reached horrific levels that are impossible to conceal. Casualty rates have reached 20,000 killed or wounded a month.

Despite the addition of 126 howitzers, 800,000 rounds of artillery rounds, and HIMARS (U.S. rocket artillery), months of hard fighting are eroding the foundations of Ukraine’s ground strength. In the face of this disaster, Zelensky continues to order counterattacks to re-take territory as a means of demonstrating that Ukraine’s strategic position vis-à-vis Russia is not as hopeless as it seems.

The recent Ukrainian advance to the town of Izium, the link between Donbas and Kharkiv, seemed like a gift to Kiev. U.S. satellite arrays undoubtedly provided Ukrainians with a real-time picture of the area showing that Russian forces west of Izium numbered less than 2,000 light troops (the equivalent of paramilitary police, e.g., SWAT and airborne infantry).

The Russian command opted to withdraw its small force from the area that is roughly 1 percent of formerly Ukrainian territory currently under Russian control. However, the price for Kiev’s propaganda victory was high—depending on the source, an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 Ukrainian troops were killed or wounded in a flat, open area that Russian artillery, rockets, and air strikes turned into a killing field.

Given Washington’s inability to end the war in Ukraine with the defeat of Russian arms, it seems certain that the Beltway will try instead to turn the ruins of the Ukrainian state into an open wound in Russia’s side that will never heal. From the beginning, the problem with this approach was that Russia always had the resources to dramatically escalate the fighting and end the fighting in Ukraine on very harsh terms. Escalation is now in progress.

In a public statement that should not surprise anyone, President Putin announced the partial mobilization of 300,000 reservists. Many of these men will replace regular Russian Army forces in other parts of Russia and release them for operations in Ukraine. Other reservists will augment the Russian units already committed in Eastern Ukraine.

Washington always mistook Putin’s readiness to negotiate and limit the scope and destructiveness of the campaign in Ukraine as evidence of weakness, when it was clear that Putin’s aims were always restricted to the elimination of the NATO threat to Russia in Eastern Ukraine. Washington’s strategy of exploiting the conflict to sell F-35 fighter jets to Germany—along with large numbers of missiles, rockets, and radars to Central and East European allied governments—is now backfiring.

The defense establishment has a long record of success in tranquilizing American voters with meaningless clichés. As conditions favorable to Moscow develop in Eastern Ukraine and the Russian position in the world grows stronger, Washington confronts a stark choice: Talk about having successfully “degraded Russian power” in Ukraine and scale back its actions. Or risk a regional war with Russia that will engulf Europe.

In Europe, however, Washington’s war with Moscow is more than just an unpleasant subject. Germany’s economy is on the brink of collapse. German industries and households are starved for energy that grows more expensive with each passing week. American investors are concerned because the historical record indicates that Germany’s economic performance is often the harbinger of hard economic times in the U.S.

More important, social cohesion in European States, especially in France, and Germany, is fragile. Berlin’s police force is reportedly drawing up contingency plans to cope with rioting and looting during the winter months if the “multi-cultural” city’s energy grid collapses. Discontent is growing making it quite plausible that governments in Germany, France, and Great Britain will likely follow the path of their colleagues in Stockholm and Rome, who lost or will lose power to right-of-center coalitions.

Russia already controls the territory that produces 95 percent of Ukrainian GDP. It has no need to press further west. At this writing, it seems certain that Moscow will finish its work in Donbas, then, turn its attention to the capture of Odessa, a Russian city that saw terrible atrocities committed by Ukrainian forces against Russian citizens in 2014.

Moscow is in no hurry. The Russians are nothing if not methodical and deliberate. Ukrainian forces are bleeding to death in counterattack after counterattack. Why rush? Moscow can be patient. China, Saudi Arabia, and India are buying Russian oil in rubles. Sanctions are hurting America’s European allies, not Russia. The coming winter will likely do more to alter Europe’s political landscape than any action Moscow might undertake. In Zakopane, a town of 27,000 souls in the extreme South of Poland, the snow is already falling.

Putin's critics have cited 'Western unity' as one of the main reasons why Russia will be economically destroyed and politically humiliated when the Ukraine's military finally claim victory.

European Union Is Again Close To A Meltdown As Eurozone Economy Collapses
Once more we return to the political instability and economic fragility of the European Union as the conflict in Ukraine combined with loonytoons Climate Change mitigation policies, the failure of 'sustainables' to meet ever increasing demand for electricity, fod shortages and rampant price inflation put economic and social pressure on governments of member states ...

We The Good Guys Versus They The Bad Guys Reporting Does Not Make Sense For The Ukraine Crisis
Mainstream media reporting of the conflict in Ukraine has disappointed. Perhaps I was naive to suppose that lessons might have been learned from the hits their print sales and online traffic rates took as a result of their handling the COVID pandemic But instead of focusing on the most obviously newsworthy aspect of the build up to and escalation of the war, Russia’s view of NATO expansion into Ukraine and even further to Georgia and Kazakhstan, news reports have simply demonised Russia and portrayed Ukraine as the good guys.

Boris and Biden Can't Blame Ukraine War For Energy Crisis
With typical arrogance and condescension towards the people who elected them Boris Johnson, Joe Biden and their respectiive presstitutes are trying to spin the energy crisis Europe and North America are currently facing as somehow being linked to the conflict in Ukraine and therfore blame is being attactched to Russia and Vladimir Putin. Do they really think we are stupid enough to believe such unmitigated bollocks? ...

Western leaders, desperate to show their own countries they were taking a firm stance on Russia's invasion of Ukraine, were quick to impose economic sanctions ... so quick in fact that they acted before they had though things through. While freezing Russia out of the global finance system they have exacerbated the wests energy crisis, while Russia's retaliatory ban on raw materials (fertiliser) exports will create extra problems on top of those we already had ...

Europe's Depleted Gas Storage Might Not Get Refilled Ahead Of Next Winter
While mainstream news reporting of the conflict in Ukraine continues to pump out a torrent of anri - Russia, pro - war propaganda the catastropic effects of this war that could so easily have been avoided are not mentioned. Putin, Macron To Hold Urgent Talks To Halt Military Escalation In Ukraine
Even though the leaders of Ukraine itself are talking down the threat of war with Russia over the breakaway region of Donbas, America and Britain are still beating the war drums and demonising Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Russia insists they have no plans to invade Ukraine and one western leader at least, France's Emmanuel Macron, seems to be listening to messages coming out of the East European trouble spot...

As the confrontation along the border between Ukraine and Russia has escalated to actual shooting with ethnic Russian rebel separatists in Donbas reporting intensified shelling and initiating a "general mobilization" of military-age males, with Moscow denying they plan to invade and Ukraine's leaders accusing US, UK and French leaders of hysteria for talking up the threat of war, Germany's leading newspaper Spiegel asks the question fundamental to the entire conflict...

While Crazy Joe Biden Claims Victory Over Russia, NATO's Expansin Plans Have Been Derailed By PutinJoe Biden (or his handlers because we all know Joe's mind is gone,) have been trying to spin reports of Russian troops withdrawing from positions close to the Ukraine border as a diplomatic victory for the USA over Putin but in the geopolitical game things are seldom what they seem to be ...
