Obama Launching Massive Military Intervention In Libya And Iraq

We were told back in 2008 that Barack Hussein Obama would become president and would be the peacemaker and joybringer would lead the would to a golden age of harmony and prosperity. That's not quite how it turned out of course, the foreign policy disasters, economic incompetence and social divisiveness have made him undisputed holder of the Worst President Ever title.

Back in 2008 some of us tried to warn you he was a neo con puppet (those who can search the dark web with immunity - and no, it's not all goat porn, for example I found Obama was backed by really nasty neo con world domination freaks). But you ignored our wise words and now, outside its own borders The USA is almost universally hated and universally mistrusted, the superpower that supports terrorists and stabs its allies in the back.

With a year of his presidency still to run it seems Obama has not had his fill of death and misery and fancies killiing a few million more third world peasants as Information Clearing House reports:

Almost five years after the United States and its NATO allies launched a campaign in Libya to overthrow Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, the United States is on the verge of massively escalating its military operations in the war-torn country. According to the New York Times, the new effort is “expected to include airstrikes and raids by elite American troops.” It is unclear how long this newest effort will last.

The announcement comes on the heels of U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announcing combat troops were going back to Iraq last week. While U.S special forces have been conducting “clandestine reconnaissance missions in Libya to identify militant leaders and map out their networks” over the past year, the New York Times report marks the first time overt combat troops will be deployed in the North African nation.

The 2011 campaign was itself something of a bait and switch. What was originally sold as simply a no-fly zone quickly became regime change. A few weeks after the UN-sanctioned bombing of Libya’s infrastructure and air capacity, the scope of the campaign pivoted when President Obama, along with Presidents Sarkozy and Cameron of France and the UK respectively, announced the entirely new objective: NATO airstrikes, in concert with ongoing CIA support of rebels, to overthrow the Qaddafi government.

After this was quickly achieved, the pundit classes rallied to congratulate a job well done. As Glenn Greenwald at The Intercept noted Wednesday:

War advocates such as Anne-Marie Slaughter and Nicholas Kristof were writing columns celebrating their prescience and mocking war opponents as discredited, and the New York Times published a front-page article declaring: “U.S. Tactics in Libya May be a Model for Other Efforts.”

It was widely expected that Hillary Clinton, one of the leading advocates for and architects of the bombing campaign, would be regarded as a Foreign Policy Visionary for the grand Libya success: “We came, we saw, he died,” Clinton sociopathically boasted about the mob rape and murder of Qaddafi while guffawing on 60 Minutes.

Despite the fanfare at the “overthrow” of Qaddafi (who suffered a brutal death at the hands of a mob), not much has been made of the U.S. military’s slow escalation of its involvement in Libya over the past year. This time the objective, much like in Iraq after the U.S. deposed its leader, is destroying the presence of ISIS, a process that could take, in the words of former Defense Secretary Panetta, “thirty years.” And it's an escalation that has largely gone under the public's radar.

Money laubdering: big business or a sign of bankers' paranoia

On Monday (1 February, 2016) just two days ago, Bloomberg called on the central banks of the world to “bring on a cashless future” in an Op-Ed that calls notes and coins "dirty, dangerous, unwieldy, and expensive."

We can imagine it would be quite easy to harm someone by firing large coins at them from a gun and terrorists could probably stuff an improvised explosive device with small coins rather than nails or nuts and bolts. And if somebody tried hard enough they could probably choke on a bank note. But cash dirty? No more so than the hundreds of things we must touch in public areas in the course of our daily lives. Unwieldy? Not compared to the lead boxes we will have to carry to ensure our contactless cards don't debit our accounts every time we go near a suitable reader. And expensive? Not to us, we buy an item for £$€1 and that's exactly what we pay for it.

So like me and my colleagues, you probably never thought of your cash in any of those ways, but increasingly, authorities and the powers that be seem determined to lay the groundwork for the abolition of what Bloomberg calls “antiquated” physical money.

We’ve documented the cash ban calls and moves on a number of occasions including, most recently, the one from DNB, Norway’s largest bank where executive Trond Bentestuen complained that although "there is approximately 50 billion kroner in circulation, the Norges Bank (Norway's Central Bank) can only account for 40 percent of its use."

That mean, Bentestuen says, that 60 percent of money usage is outside of any control." "We believe," he continues, "that is due to under-the-table money and laundering." He really does have limited imagination if he seriously thinks that is all people use cash for.

DNB backed up its executive by claiming that after identifying “many dangers and disadvantages” associated with cash, the bank has concluded 'it should be phased out'.

On Tuesday we got more evidence that the thieving banks around the world are preparing to create a cashless “utopia” in which systems will be implemented to enable them to plunder our hard earned to cover the disasters their reckless gamblings incurs. German finance magizine Handelsblatt reported (in a piece called "The Death of Cash) that the Social Democrats - the junior partner in Angela Merkel’s coalition government - have proposed a €5,000 limit on cash transactions and the elimination of the €500 note.

“Limits on cash transactions would discourage foreign criminals from coming here to launder money,” says a study published by the Social Democrats. "If sums over €5,000 have to pass through traceable bank transactions, laundering would be severely hampered," it adds.

Today (3 Feb, 2016), we learned via the news feeds that German Deputy Finance Minister Michael Meister had confirmed the government's support for the idea when he told reporters that Germany is proposing a pan - European ban on cash transactions over €5,000 to combat terrorism financing and money laundering.

“Since money laundering and terrorism financing are cross-border threats,” it makes sense to adopt a bloc-wide “solution”, but “if a European solution isn’t possible, Germany will move ahead on its own,” he added. Really Herr Meister. Why not just close your borders and stop criminals entering the country.

This sudden outbreak of money laundering comes at a rather convenient time for policy makers in Europe. Interest base rates are already sitting at -0.30% and are likely to be cut by an additional 10bps (one hundredths of one per cent) in March. But that’s not likely to halt the disinflationary impulse. European Central Bank chief Mario Draghi isn’t anywhere close to his inflation target and efforts to stimulate European economies have been totally ineffective.

What is needed is a revival of consumer spending and the gradual phasing out of cash is seen as a way of stripping the public of its economic autonomy. At present Central banks can only control interest rates down to a certain "lower bound". Once negative rates are passed on to depositors - as Swiss and Japanese banks have already done, for different reasons - people will have to pull their money out of the banks and spend it rather than pay the banks for gambling with it. The more negative rates go, the faster those withdrawals will be.

Ban cash and this problem is eliminated. In a cashless society with a government-managed digital currency there is no effective lower limit. If the economy isn’t doing what bureaucrats want it to do, they can simply make interest rates deeply negative, forcing would-be savers to become consumers by making them choose between spending or watching as the bank simply confiscates their money in negative interest.

Hillary Steals Iowa Caucus On Her Way To Jail?

In the Iowa caucus for the Democratic Party nomination six precincts were decided by the toss of a coin with Hillary Clinton's supporters winning all six by calling 'heads each time. Hillary won the nomination by 4 precincts. What a bunch of tossers.

While this blog has only taken the position of an impartial onlooker in the contests for Democratic and Republican nominations for the US Presidential elections, while Donald Trump has cause much hilarity but despite being beaten into ssecond place last still has the wind behind him as his lead among the republican hopefuls in opinion polls continues to increase, the Democrats contest is shaping up to be a much nastier affair.

In the first situation in which actual votes are cast, the Iowa caucus (I've no idea how a caucus differs from a primary, nor do I care) Hillary Clinton appears to have secured a narrow victory over rival Bernie Sanders by six tosses of a coin.

A typical result was recorded in the city of Ames, which is around 30 miles (48km) north of the state capital Des Moines, and is home to Iowa State University.

“A total of 484 eligible caucus attendees were initially recorded at the site. But when each candidate’s preference group was counted, Clinton had 240 supporters, Sanders had 179 and Martin O’Malley had five (causing him to be declared non-viable),” said David Schweingruber, a sociology professor at Iowa State University, who was present at the caucus and explained the situation to the Des Moines Register.

The discrepancy prompted the precinct leaders to call a Democratic Party hotline, in order to find out how the missing votes situation should be handled. Despite having the latest technology (a Microsoft vote counting app thaty was declaring Hillary the winner before votes were even counted) at their disposal, the Democrat Party hierarchy decided the best course of action would be to go back to basics and settle the dispute with a coin toss!

A supporter in the Clinton camp correctly called “heads” meaning that Clinton picked up five of the eight delegates in precinct 2-4 Ames.

However, this was anything but an isolated incident. Two precincts in Des Moines and one each in Newton, West Branch and Davenport all had to be decided by the toss of the coin.

Amazingly, Clinton managed to win each of these coin tosses, which helped her to eventually secure victory in the Iowa Caucus.

Democratic Party figures stated that Clinton won by just four delegates, in a result Sanders called a “virtual tie.” The Des Moines Register reported.

You might say this proves those commentators who said Hillary would rely on money to win the nomination were absolutely right.

It also proves the Democratic Party are a bunch of tossers.

Politician Blasts Conviction For Speaking The Truth On Anti-Semitism In Europe

A Danish politician has been reprimanded for posting comments on Twitter about the-much-commented-on-in-mainstream-media resurgence of anti semitism in Europe. Apparently while hand wringing and breast beating about violent attacks on Jewish people and vandalising premises of Jewish owned businesses is fine, stating the absolutely effing obvious by linking the Europe migrant crisis to this new wave of anti Semitism is a criminal offence. receiving a fine from the high court for pointing out Muslim anti-Semitism.

Veteran Danish People’s Party (Dansk Folkpartei, DF) politician and retired parliamentarian Mogens Camre tweeted in 2014 “Regarding the Jews’ situation in Europe: The Muslims are continuing where Hitler left off. Only the same treatment Hitler received will change the situation… forces in the Islamic world who threaten non-Muslims should be fought like Saddam Hussein, Bin Laden and Gadaffi were”. Camre's tweets were prompted by the comments of the Israeli ambassador to Berlin that year, who compared the persecution of Jews by Muslims in Europe to the situation in 1938.

The case was initially tried before Denmark's lower court but after it found against him, Mr. Camre took it to the high court, which on Monday ruled his remarks were against Danish racism laws and enforced the £800 fine. Speaking immediately after hearing the judgement, Camre said the 1939 law he was convicted under had been twisted by political correctness and should be abolished.

He also said the right of every 'man on the street' to express an opinion on many important matters was being deliberately targeted.

Mr. Camre also explained events leading up to his conviction:

“After this tweet a few days later a Palestinian fellow was released from jail. He had got a jail sentence of six years – and six years in Denmark really means it was a serious crime. He had committed narcotic and violent offences, and the verdict was after his release he should be extradited from Denmark.

“But then the wonderful declaration on human rights came in. And so because of his human rights he could not be sent home.

“This man wrote a letter to the police saying he felt threatened by me. I have no army, and no soldiers but he felt threatened! That caused the prosecutor to file a complaint against me”.

"In reality case was about more than just the hurt feelings of one Palestinian political activist," remarked Mr. Camre. He said: "The purpose of this verdict is to shut the mouth of everyone who would offend against our new wonderful imported culture from the Middle East.

“If you express yourself in academic language, and you report the facts of the situation in Europe nobody can do anything against it. But if you speak in a common language that any man in the street can understand, then there is a feeling there should be a reaction, that it would cause hatred between ordinary people and the muslim immigrants.

The law Mr. Camre has been persecuted under was passed after the Second World War Nazi occupation as does his family fight against "oppression, wherever it comes from". With some pride Mr. Camre describes how his father fought against the Nazis in the Danish resistance, and it is clear he feels he is doing the same good work by opposing the Muslims who are oppressing Jews.

Unfortunately we people of Europe have allowed spineless, shit - sucking Marxist creeps to infiltrate our political, public service and judicial elites. and they are quite happy to kiss Muslim arse by pandering to Islamic racism while punishing anybody who makes perfectly reasonable criticism of the anti - social behaviour so common among Muslims.

Zika Virus Threatens Rio Olympics As WHO Declares Global Emergency

This could just be another jolly jape for the fear and panic industry, remember Swine Flu, Bird Flu, SARS, MRSA, Mad Cow Disease, AIDS, the hole in the ozone layer, the new ice age, nuclear war or any of the other things that were going to kill us but didn't?

After an inauspicious start when it was discovered in the heart of Ugandan forest about sixty years ago to mysterious genetically-modified Mosquitoes in Brazil, the latest existential threat to humanity (most notably to pregnant women who get infected) is the ominous-sounding Zika virus.

The epidemic is spreading rapidly from its epicenter near the place where genetically modified mosquitos created for the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation were released into the wild in Brazil, thus threatening disaster at the Olympics with female athletes being advised to "consider participation very carefully", to Colombia (with 2100 pregnant women infected), and further north in America with CDC confirming 6 cases in Texas.

Now above you have a perfect example of how the fear-and-panic industry works, its purpose being to sustain the power elites in power by keeping us so scared we will believe only the government can protect us from the many threats we are exposed to every day of our lives.

But consider (very carefully), while Zika poses a serious threat that women who become infected in the early stages of pregnancy will give birth to babies with microcephaly (a very small head, probably accompanied by developmental problems)how is that a threat to women athletes in the Olympic games. Those competitors haven't dedicated themselves for years to achieving excellence in their chosen sport just so they can get pregnant at the Olympic games.

As previously reported here, The World Health Organization is convening an Emergency Committee under International Health Regulations today, concerning the Zika virus ‘explosive’ spread throughout the Americas. The virus reportedly has the potential to reach pandemic proportions — possibly around the globe. But understandingwhy this outbreak happened is vital to curbing it. As the WHO statement said:

“A causal relationship between Zika virus infection and birth malformations and neurological syndromes … is strongly suspected. [These links] have rapidly changed the risk profile of Zika, from a mild threat to one of alarming proportions.

“WHO is deeply concerned about this rapidly evolving situation for 4 main reasons: the possible association of infection with birth malformations and neurological syndromes; the potential for further international spread given the wide geographical distribution of the mosquito vector; the lack of population immunity in newly affected areas; and the absence of vaccines, specific treatments, and rapid diagnostic tests […] The level of concern is high, as is the level of uncertainty.”

Zika seems to have come from of nowhere, but it has been around for over seventy years. Though it was first discovered in 1947, cases only sporadically occurred throughout Africa and southern Asia.

In 2007, the first case was reported in the Pacific. In 2013, a smattering of small outbreaks and individual cases were officially documented in Africa and the western Pacific. They also began showing up in the Americas. In May 2015, Brazil reported its first case of Zika virus — and the situation changed dramatically. Which suggests that the virus has also changed dramatically. As a result of what?

Let's remind ourselves that the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, only recently declared over, was like no pervious outbreak of the disease. And I can claim to have been one of the first to break the news to western audiences that shortly before the outbreak the United States Department Of Defence biological Warfare Agency obtained a patent of the Ebola virus and had a team in Africa working in weaponising the disease. Sounds too similar to be coincidence?

"You may say that, I could not possibly comment." as the saying goes.

Even though the virus poses no great threat to human adults or children other than pregnant women, the BBC reports, an alarming mixture of confusion and fear is blighting the pregnancies of thousands of women across this teeming tropical city in the northeast of Brazil, and wherever else the Zika virus has infected people. And the conspiracy theories have not even started yet.

British Troops go into action - image: Dad's Army

It has not been confirmed yet but we are hearing that one thousand British soldiers are preparing to deploy to Libya, with the UK government, the Pentagon and the government of France currently working out details of an intervention intended to stop the acvance of ISIS affiliated Islamic extremist groups on Libya's oil fields and strategically important refineries and ports on the Mediterranean coast.

It is not clear if this deployment is in addition to the 1000 British personnel reported to be in Libya in 'supporting roles' to one of the three rival groups claiming to be the legitimate government, or a contingent of combat troops in an escalation by the FUKUS axis of western involvement in the civil conflict that resulted from the ill - advised and incompetently managed bombing campaign to overthrow the Gadaffi regime.

Since the campaign led by France and the USA (Obama will join any war) which deposed the regime of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, Libya, under Gaddafi the wealthiest and most advanced nation in Africa) has largely collapsed. Its cities are in ruins and its economy no longer functions. Furthermore the failed state is now faced with a serious refugee crisis as economic migrants from sub Saharan Africa use the lawless land as a route to Europe where they hope that by posing as refugees from Syria they will be housed, paid social benefits and given western women. Libya has become home to a branch of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) estimated to be 3,000-strong.

"There is the risk that ISIS fighters could make the crossing, mixing in with refugees," French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said on Sunday.

Le Drian has been lobbying for military action, but conceded "everyone is aware of the danger of transferring to a new conflict in Libya the conflict in the Levant [Iraq and Syria] where we are starting to see some positive elements."

The Times (UK) reports that the 1,000 UK troops would be deployed as part of an Italian-led 6,000-strong formation to provide training to Libyan troops but that seems unlikely as Libya does not have a functioning military command. The rumor of further British involvement in Libya comes a day after it was announced a 12-strong UK military team has deployed to South Sudan as part of a UN peacekeeping mission there.

More Evidence That Hillary Clinton Leaked Secrets damaging To The USA

American voters and especially those likely to vote on the issues and qualities of the candidates rather from party loyalty have come to hate the political establishment and the corporate controlled mainstream media with a passion. Politicians are less trusted than lawyers, used car salesmen, people who peddle investment plans and the dodgy characters who sell remedies that are guaranteed to cure absolutely everything. And with good reason, given the dishonest conduct the current president and the two who preceded him were caught out in. But is seems Democratic nomination front runner Hillary Clinton beats them all. And she was only Secretary Of State when she stabbed her country in the back.

We have been reporting here the scandal that has grown around Hillary Clinton's use of a private, unsecured e mail server in her own office to handle US Government information that was classified 'beyond top secret' was likely to engulf her bid for the presidency and destroy her political career totally.

For her enemies among whom we must number leading Republican contender Donald Trump, and rival for the Democratic Party nomination Bernies Sanders, Hillary’s e mails truly are truly the gifts that keep on giving.

While France led the proponents of the UN Security Council Resolution that would create a no-fly zone and a 'humanitarian' bombing campaign in Libya, it claimed that its primary concern was the protection of Libyan civilians. Considering the current state of affairs in that unfortunate country, one must rethink the authenticity of this concern. As many "conspiracy theorists" will claim, one of the real reasons to go to Libya was Gaddafi’s planned gold dinar. (I personally had heard nothing of this, my information was that the west wanted a puppet government in Tripoli to give Wall Street control of Libyan oilfields. Hillary's e mails shine a different light on events however.

One of the 3,000 emails released by the State Department on New Year’s Eve (where real news is sent to die quietly, or as one of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair's aides once put it, a good day to bury bad news) reveals evidence that NATO’s plot to overthrow Gaddafi was primarily driven by their desire to block the creation of a gold-backed African currency, and second the Libyan oil reserves.

The email in question, titled "France’s client and Qaddafi’s gold." was sent to Clinton by her unofficial adviser Sydney Blumenthal

From Foreign Policy Journal:

"The email identifies French President Nicholas Sarkozy as leading the attack on Libya with five specific purposes in mind: to obtain Libyan oil, ensure French influence in the region, increase Sarkozy’s reputation domestically, assert French military power, and to prevent Gaddafi’s influence in what is considered ‘Francophone Africa.’

"Most astounding is the lengthy section delineating the huge threat that Gaddafi’s gold and silver reserves, estimated at “143 tons of gold, and a similar amount in silver,” posed to the French franc (CFA) circulating as a prime African currency."

The e mail that damned Clinton was originally released online but has now been taken down, (having probably been deemed to damaging to the US diplomatic reputation at a time when relations with Russia and China are more strained than the laces on an overweight domiatrice's corset - here's the link for what it's worth.) I have managed to obtain a snippet of the most damaging paragraphs from a source I trust.

"This gold was accumulated prior to the current rebellion and was intended to be used to establish a pan-African currency based on the Libyan golden Dinar. This plan was designed to provide the Francophone African Countries with an alternative to the French franc (CFA).

"(Source Comment: According to knowledgeable individuals this quantity of gold and silver is valued at more than $7 billion. French intelligence officers discovered this plan shortly after the current rebellion began, and this was one of the factors that influenced President Nicolas Sarkozy’s decision to commit France to the attack on Libya. According to these individuals Sarkozy’s plans are driven by the following issues:

a. A desire to gain a greater share of Libya oil production,

b. Increase French influence in North Africa,

c. Improve his internal political situation in France,

d. Provide the French military with an opportunity to reassert its position in the world,

e. Address the concern of his advisers over Gaddafi’s long term plans to supplant France as the dominant power in Francophone Africa)”

When French security services discovered Gaddafi’s plans, they decided to convene the FUKUS axis and launch a regime change attack against Mad Dog's regime.

Sadly, Gaddafi had earlier warned Europe (in a “prophetic” phone conversations with Blair) that his fall would prompt the rise of Islamic extremism in the West and unleash a tide of immigrants that would destabilise Europe. The warning went unheeded; Libyan lives and the security of the European working class are acceptable collateral damage, if the larger goal lines the pockets of politicians and the elite so much better after all?

All that is fine if the deals are kept secret, but with a dizzy bitch like Hillary playing fast and loose with official secrets, disaster is inevitable.

News From Davos: America Is Finished Global Governance And NWO To Rule

A fairy tale setting in the Swiss Alps for some very dirty business

The World Economic Forum (or the junior Bilderberg Group as some call it) held their annual ~~jolly~~ conference at the exclusive Alpine resort of Davos-Klosters where it will cost you €20 (about$22) for a cup of coffee because the locals have to keep chavs out somehow. Two thousand five hundred politicians, celebrities, and business leaders from all over the world gather every year for this “Bilderberg style” meeting. The delegates include 53 people who own as much wealth as the poorest half of the world's population and representatives of over 1,000 of the multinational corporate businesses all of which are on record as supporting global government and open borders.

One of the most significant discussions held at this year's Davos powerfest concerned the growing disconnect between middle and working class citizens and the power elites. Everywhere in the world one looks, citizens no longer trust their governments or the legal, medical and academic professions, the science & technology community, finance and the mainstream media:

"If this growing disconnect between governments and citizens is not fixed rapidly, there can be no legitimate, accountable and trusted global cooperation, problem solving or governance." - WEF Everybody’s Business Report

Prominent among the proposed solutions was the denial of a platform to the voice of the people. Towards this end we have already seen newspapers and television current affairs programming become more slavishly attached to the official narrative (the science is settled, the Russians are the bad guys, Genetically modified crops are they way to feed the world etc.) The public, the people who once used to write letters to the newspapers or expound their opinions to a small audience in their club or local bar who in their words, and who now find a wider audience in internet forums are unfit to make decisions that need to be left to the self elected members of the self styled global elite.

In a paper titled The Global Redesign Initiative (GRI) published by the World Economic Forum they propose curtailment of free speech, already being put into practice by nations such as France and Germany and supported by US and British leaders and many academics, and a transition away from government decision making by assemblies of elected representatives into a system of global governance whith decision making power vested in committees of appointed bureaucrats and 'experts'.

To put it bluntly the elites are abolishing democracy by stealth, replacing our model of representative democracy by public voting with appointed governments which will make laws and negotiate policy decisions on a global scale. Their policies will then be rubber stamped by a powerless elected body to maintain the illusion that ordinary citizens matter. Any proposal in which a self-selected group of ‘stake-holders’ (mostly corporate lawyers and economists which make decisions on our behalf is a truly terrifying thought to anyone who values freedom.

Next time you hear politicians and 'billionaire philanthropists' talking about fairness and equality, or celebrities wringing their hands and beating their breasts over the plight of the third world poor, remember that for the past four decades in the system these people preside over or serve has given us a rapidly widening wealth gap not just between rich and poor nations but between the rich and poor within developed nations. Back in 2008, very early in that year's campaign for presidential nominations, I was breaking my self -imposed rule of not taking sides in the political debates of nations other than the UK to warn that the man who had appeared from nowhere, the first term senator whose performance in Congress and the Illinois state legislature before that, had been lacklustre to say the least, would not be HopeyChangeyman, the superhero who would save the world, but a deeply divisive figures whose economic and social policies were doomed and who in foreign policy would be a warmonger whose administration would side with Americas enemies.

Part of that I came to understand by reading and listening to the man's own words, other stud I learned by researching online using techniques only someone with thirty years experience in computer networking should go anywhere near, and that nobody should go near unless they have a proper computer with a proper operating system (I had a DEC microVAX / VMS back then, it runs UNIX for me now. The story of how millions of small individual donations financed Obama's campaign was straight from fairyland. The campaign was bankrolled by some very nasty, neo - con billionaires.

Armed with that knowledge it came as no surprise when Obama's administration was like the Bush Presidency on speed. And of all the negative consequences of governing solely in the interests of corporate pirates, the worst was the deep and festering divisions it caused in U S society.

Those divisions can be seen most clearly in the campaigns of contenders in this year's election cycle.

For the Democrats there is, on the left a socialist, selling a political philosophy that has previously been anathema to American voters, yet generating the most enthusiasm of any of the other candidates including the anointed one, favourite of party elders and mainstream media, Hillary Clinton. Among many Democrats today, Hillary Clinton is simply “not liberal enough” and no longer represents their values. For many others her honesty issues are a problem, while still others worry about her rack record as Secretary of State, the only 'proper' job she ever has, and that by virtue of the fact that her husband is a former president.

On the other end of the spectrum, Republican voters are gravitating, nay stampeding, toward Donald Trump. The only serious rival to Trump is Ted Cruz although it is early days yet and we can expect a compromise candidate to emerge, some party hack whose only virtue is that he / she has never offended anyone who matters (the King Of Saudi Arabia for example). Both of the leading Republican candidates represent a complete break from how party establishment has embraced the politically correct consensus in recent years.

On mainstream news and commentary broadcast and internet forums we see the voters are bitterly divided too. It appears there is just thing that Americans can agree on these days. Almost everybody, right or left, hates the government. CBS News has released an article titled "Americans hate the U.S. government more than ever", and a meta - analysis of recent surveys carried out by Real Clear Politics found that 63 percent of all Americans believe the country is heading in the wrong direction and only 28 percent of all Americans believe that the country is heading in the right direction. In just a few days the first actual votes of the 2016 election will be cast in Iowa, and polls suggest the big story of this cycle, the rise of "outsider" candidates initially written off as eccentrics who hadn't a snowball in hell's chance. Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are beneficiaries of widespread disgust that the American people feel regarding what has been going on in Washington, for the warmongering of a man who claimed as president he would be the peacemaker and joybringer.

Others are disgusted at Obama's authoritarianism and contempt for democracy and the U S constitution.

And it isn’t just Barack Obama or members of Congress that Americans are disgusted with. According to the CBS News article that referenced above, dissatisfaction with various federal agencies has fallen to an eight year low…

So if everybody is so fed up with the way that things are running, it should be easy to fix right?

Unfortunately, things are not so simple. Thanks to the hippy influence thinking of 'progressive liberals' on one side and the Biblical literalism of evangelical Christians, black Christians and Hispanic Catholics on the other there is no longer a single shared set of values or principles that unites the nation, and therefore it is going to be nearly impossible to bring it together together on specific issues let alone an all embracing program of reform.

In fact, people who talk of 'shared values' in an age of moral relativism are likely to be dismissed as a radical right-wing wacko nut - jobs who believe God created the universe quite recently, and therefore who should be locked up for the safety of those who shout about diversity of skin colour but fear and loathe diversity of ideas.

America today is a nation more divided than ever with the fault lines in society being race, finance, employment, and education as well as religion and politics. If you ask 100 different people what is needed to fix the country, you are likely to get 200 different answers.

And should Bernie sanders, Donald Trump or somebody not currently in the race become president, I can't see how things can be improved to any great extent.
