As Propaganda For electric Cars Intesifies Disasters (Personal and Financial) Continue to Stack Up

Two People Killed After Tesla Crashes Into A Tree And Becomes "Engulfed In Flames" In Florida

Another two people in Florida, USA, died on Monday night this week when their upmarket Tesla electric car crashed into a tree in Coral Gables, Florida and burst into flames. As has been the case with other Teslas, some of which caught fire after accident while others apppear to have spontaneously combusted, the lithium fire defied the efforts of firefighters to extinguish it..

The "fiery wreck" took place at the intersection of Alhambra Circle and Coral Way, according to Local 10. A police officer at the scence said the driver crashed the car into a tree, but no further details about the accident have been determined yet.

Video shot by witnesses on smartphones shows the wrecked vehicle "engulfed in flames" killing both occupants of the vehicle. "That's a Tesla," the person taking the video of the wreck can be heard saying.

Firensic examiners spent Tuesday collecting evidence at the accident scene and a full investigation is now under way. The driver was a 20 year old male and the passenger was a 19 year old woman, the report says.

The National Highway Transport Safety Association (NHTSA) said recently it had opened a formal investigation into the Tesla company's Autopilot feature after numerous accident of a similar nature over the past few years. An NHTSA statement on the opening of its investigation into Tesla's Model X, S, and 3 for model years 2014-2021 indicated the broad range of models and model years means that this could be the broad investigation that Tesla skeptics have been demanding for many years. Specifically, the regulator is looking into a litany of accidents involving Teslas on Autopilot slamming into immobile emergency response vehicles on the road.

The NHTSA said the investigation would assess technologies, methods "used to monitor, assist, and enforce the driver's engagement" during autopilot operation, according to Bloomberg.

Goldman Sachs appeared anything but optimistic that the probe into Autopilot would be resolved quickly. “Given the current probe is related to a Level 2 driver-assist system, one solution could be for an enhanced driver monitoring system to ensure driver compliance with Tesla’s terms of use,” the investment bank wrote last month. Part of the problem is that Tesla's branding of its system as "Autopilot" suggests the car can be trusted to dive itself however the system is only an electronic assistant for drivers, not an autonomous control system for the car. One hopes drastic action will be taken, Tesla have been getting away with murder (metaphorically,) for too long.

After Two Recalls, GM Finally Just Tells Bolt EV Owners: "Don't Park Your Car Within 50 Feet Of Another Car"

After a series of recalls that we have documented here on Zero Hedge, General Motors looks to be taking its precautions with the Chevy Bolt one step further: the automaker is asking Bolt owners to park "at least 50 feet" from other vehicles if you're going to leave your car in a parking deck.

GM spokesman Dan Flores, who we're sure isn't getting paid enough to deliver this line with a straight face, said this week: "In an effort to reduce potential damage to structures and nearby vehicles in the rare event of a potential fire, we recommend parking on the top floor or on an open-air deck and park 50 feet or more away from another vehicle. Additionally, we still request you do not leave your vehicle charging unattended, even if you are using a charging station in a parking deck."

"We are aware of 12 GM confirmed battery fires that have been investigated involving Bolt EVs vehicles in the previous and new recall population," he continued, telling The Detroit News. "We're still working with LG around the clock to resolve the issue. Both companies understand the urgency to move as quickly as possible, but, again, the most important thing here is we have to get this right."

Recall, back in July, General Motors issued their second recall for the Chevy Bolt after it announced that two Bolts had caught fire without impact and that at least one of the two was related to the battery and happened despite the owner getting a fix from a previous recall.

The second recall included all Bolt EVs from 2017 to 2019, encompassing 68,000 vehicles. 50,925 of those vehicles were located in the U.S. and they have batteries that are produced at LG Chem’s Ochang, South Korea, facility, the report notes.

A spokesman for GM said earlier this summer: "As part of GM’s commitment to safety, experts from GM and LG have identified the simultaneous presence of two rare manufacturing defects in the same battery cell as the root cause of battery fires in certain Chevrolet Bolt EVs. As part of this recall, GM will replace defective battery modules in the recall population. We will notify customers when replacement parts are ready."

GM, at the time, was recommending that owners:

Return the vehicle to the 90% state of charge limitation using Hilltop Reserve mode (for 2017-2018 model years) or Target Charge Level mode (for 2019 model year), or visit a dealer to make that change.
Charge the vehicle after each use and avoid depleting the battery below 70 miles of remaining range.
Park the vehicle outside immediately after charging and do not leave the vehicle charging overnight.
Customers who have not received the advanced diagnostics software should visit their dealer to get the update. After obtaining the software, limit the state of charge to 90% and follow the advice above.

We're guessing those rules still run concurrent with the new "50 foot" rule.

Hyperinflation In Europe's Power Markets Will Be Disastrous For The Working-Poor This Winter

European natural gas and electricity prices are unlikely to ease in the coming months ahead of what could be a costly winter season for stressed-out consumers. The price increases for natgas and power are unusual for this time of year, raising concern prices will remain sticky and eat away wages.

Natgas prices hit a record high last month due to slowing Russian supply causing a storage crunch on the continent. Then the lack of wind-driven electricity production forced European utility companies to fire up natgas turbines to satisfy energy shortfalls. This episode underlines the precarious state of the continent's energy markets ahead of winter.

The price shock has been the most evident in the UK as the country learns a valuable lesson about relying on wind farms. Electricity prices have more than doubled in September and were seven times higher than at the same month in 2020.

Power prices across the continent, from France, the Netherlands, and Germany, were also higher.

Weather models forecast cool and dry conditions for Europe this winter could strain natgas supplies even further.

"All our indicators on the weather and the fuel market side are bullish," said Georgi Slavov, head of fundamental research of broker Marex Spectron.

Bloomberg's Javier Blas writes, "This is simply incredible: UK day-ahead baseload electricity prices jump to a fresh all-time high of £354 per MWh on N2EX. Intraday prices for peak demand are much, much higher. To put into perspective, that's 700% higher than the ~£45 average 2010-2020 price."

Blas also tweeted:
I hear some saying that Europeans are willing to accept higher electricity prices if it leads to a lower-carbon world. The above suggest that's 1) no true, 2) governments will see lower tax income, with less money for green projects, 3) lower retail prices means higher demand

He notes commodity inflation has moved into "demand destruction mode -- with that, it comes the risk of political intervention (verbal or real) to force prices down. We saw that with China's statement on oil last week (and multiple times in 2008)."

Stefan Konstantinov, senior energy economist at data firm ICIS, said surging power prices "took a lot of people by surprise," and if "this were to happen in winter when we've got significantly higher demand, then that presents a real issue for system stability."

The feedback loop has already affected the broader economy, with European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde recently saying energy markets are a significant driver in higher inflation.

Maybe Europe will beg Russia to accelerate the launch of its controversial Nord Stream pipeline; clearly, without it, gas prices would continue surging, further pushing up power prices.

Europe has been pursuing renewable energy as a means of mitigating "climate change," but the realization is that when the wind stops blowing, there's not enough energy.

This is just more evidence of out-of-control inflation rippling through commodity markets and crushing the working-poor. Europeans are becoming furious and have already protested utility companies.

The British government will not mandate vaccine passports for nightclubs, cinemas, and other large public venues in England after all, Health Secretary Sajid Javid announced on Sunday.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government has backtracked on controversial plans to introduce vaccine passports domestically and is set to end draconian emergency powers given to the state under the Coronavirus Act, in a major concession to anti-lockdown factions within the Conservative Party.

Appearing on the BBC’s Andrew Marr programme on Sunday, Health Secretary Sajid Javid said in reference to vaccine passports: “I’m pleased to say we will not be going ahead with plans.”

“We shouldn’t be doing things for the sake of it,” Javid added.

The Health Secretary also said that while he currently cannot make any firm commitments, he does not expect another lockdown to be imposed on the country, saying: “I’m not anticipating any more lockdowns… I just don’t see how we get to another lockdown”.

The move represents a stark U-turn from the government, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson declaring in July that “By the end of September, when all over-18s will have had their chance to be doubled-jabbed, we’re planning to make full vaccination the condition for entry to nightclubs and other venues where large crowds gather. About half the country is resisting Joe Biden’s latest Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) “vaccine” mandate.

The states of Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming are all engaging in some form of “vaccine rebellion” against the Biden regime, while the rest are capitulating – at least for now.

Pedo Joe decided on September 9 that he is going to try to force all federal, contract and large private corporate employees to get injected with Donald “father of the vaccine” Trump’s “Operation Warp Speed” jabs as a condition of employment.

Hunter’s dad said he is getting very ornery and impatient over the fact that tens of millions of Americans want absolutely nothing to do with Fauci Flu shots, no matter how many times he barks at them about it.

Rather than calm him down by giving him extra medication and a nap, Biden’s handlers are instead riling him up even more about the fact that Americans are refusing to obey his unconstitutional demands.

“The President [sic] has no authority to require that Americans inject themselves because of their employment at a private business,” tweeted Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves.

“The vaccine itself is life-saving, but this unconstitutional move is terrifying. This is still America, and we still believe in freedom from tyrants.”

The “vaccine” is, of course, not actually life-saving, but Republicans are too pathetically weak or compromised these days to say it like it is.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt was a little bolder, having tweeted that the government’s role is not to “dictate to private businesses what to do.”

The designer of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine has called for surplus doses in the UK to be sent to countries with lower levels of vaccination, calling plans for a booster program unnecessary for the majority of immunised people.

Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert – who also developed the universal flu vaccine – expressed doubt over the vaccination of healthy children and booster shots for people who are still well-immunised from their first two shots in an interview with the Telegraph newspaper on Thursday.

Professor Gilbert urged the UK to instead send their doses to countries in need, declaring, “We need to get vaccines to countries where few of the population have been vaccinated so far. We have to do better in this regard. The first dose has the most impact.”

Violent clashes in Paris as thousands protest over Covid-19 vaccine passports for 9th consecutive week

Once again today thousands of demonstrators poured into the streets of the French capital on Saturday to protest against the the fascistic government of President Emannuel Macron and the proposed coronavirus health pass policy. It was the ninth consecutive weekend that huge protests have disrupted life in French cities. Today's protest quickly descended into violence with widespread clashes between demonstrators and police.

Four separate large-scale demonstrations tookplace in Paris on Saturday. Crowds of people blocked busy roads and business districts as they marched through the streets in various parts of the city surrounded by cordons of police officers in riot gear.

The protesters waved French national flags and placards that read: ‘health is not a business’. Some flags of leftist and even Royalist groups were seen in the crowds as well.

Large numbers of paramilitary police were deployed around Paris, particularly at the Champs-Elysees and Wagram Avenue in the city’s northwest, where activists on social media had planned a large event. The total number of demonstrators in that area estimated at around 30,000 people on the streets by midday

Videos posted on social media showed Paris streets and boulevards blocked by huge crowds.

Tensions quickly boiled over in the crowded streets as footage published on social media showed police attacking citizens with tear gas and batons and protesters kicking and verbally assaulting police officers. One video showed the crowd attacking the police with various objects.

Clashes erupted near the Champs-Elysees in particular, as the police prevented participants of one of the demonstrations from entering the avenue in which the French presidential palace is situated, the French media reported.

Saturday marked the ninth consecutive week of protests. Rallies began in mid-July after President Emmanuel Macron’s government introduced a n unconstitutional rule that made presenting a vaccination certificate or negative Covid-19 test obligatory for those wishing to visit a restaurant, theater, cinema and shopping mall or travel on a long-distance train.

The government measures also involved mandatory vaccination for medics, which is opposed by many hospital staff members and the trade unions that represent them. The government insisted that the measures are needed to encourage people to get the jabs and eventually avoid another lockdown.
