Britain Must Stop |Vilifying Asylum Seekers And Let Them Work Say Conservative Rebels

A growing backlash by members on the Conservative benches of the House of Commmons over the Government’s restrictions which bar asylum seekers from working while they await the outcome of their applications, is the latest embarrassment for Rishi Sunak's Conservative In Name Only government.  The rebels demand that Britain must stop vilifying asylum seekers, dump its “mad” work ban on asylum seekers who could plug labour shortages, says a former minister in the immigration department.

As things stand asylum seekers are only allowed to work in specific shortage areas after a year but senior Tories including former ministers Sir Robert Buckland and Tim Loughton and now Lord Harrington believe it should be relaxed to at least six months.  The demand for change has also been backed by the Government’s official migration advisers - the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) - which warned lengthy delays in processing applications “directly harm” the integration of asylum seekers and their ability to work in the long term.

In short these nominally Consewrvative politicians want to adopt a far left policy of allowing anybody who arrives on our shore to be admitted and given citizenship rights immediately. Letting them work would reduce the enormous expense of accommodating them in three and four star hotels these far - left Conservatives claim. Well  maybe but so would rounding them up, putting them on a boat and sending them back to their homeland. Let's be honest, these illegal and undocumented arrivals are not 'asylum seekers,' they are economic migrants. International law provides that genuine asylum seekers should be offered sanctuary in the first safe nation they reach. Most of those arriving in UK have crossed several safe nations to get here.

Why are they so determined to come and work in Britain? Well work is the last thing on their minds, they are mostly uneducated, semi - literate peasants who have heard that Britain has one of the most generous benefits systems, offers free housing and free healthcare and is among the most lax nations in applying border controls.

Some 90,000 of the 147,000 asylum seekers currently on the UK have been waiting more than six months for an initial decision, with nearly eight in 10 eventually having their applications approved.

Izabella Kaminska, formerly the Editor of the FT’s Alphaville and now the Editor of the Blind Spot, has flagged up an alarming passage in a document published in January 2021 by Deutsche Bank Research entitled ‘What we must do to Rebuild’. Eric Heyman has written the section about the tough choices the EU must face it if’s to meet its goal of achieving ‘climate neutrality’ by 2050 – Net Zero, in other words – and says the following:

The impact of the current climate policy on people’s everyday lives is still quite abstract and acceptable for many households. Climate policy comes in the form of higher taxes and fees on energy, which make heating and mobility more expensive. Some countries have set minimum energy efficiency standards for buildings or similar rules in other areas. However, climate policy does not determine our lives. We take key consumption decisions, for example whether we travel at all, how much we travel and which means of transport we use, whether we live in a large house or a small apartment and how we heat our homes, how many electronic devices we have and how intensely we use them or how much meat and exotic fruit we eat. These decisions tend to be made on the basis of our income, not on climate considerations.

Tech Revolution Promises Utopia But What Horrors Will It Deliver

 In the deep midwinter though technically at the time of writing the winter of 2022 does not start for another two days, it certainly feels like the deep midwinter here in Britain though with temperatures for the last two weeks barely rising above freezing at any point, but amid all the gloom of the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, rocketing living costs, and a host of other political, financial and social problems, we are offered by way of good news a story about  good news BOUT Scientists in California who have achieved something spectacular: a net energy gain in a nuclear fusion reaction. 

 We may still be years from fleets of fusion power stations, but it is no longer a fantasy to imagine an abundant source of zero-carbon energy powering the world economy, indeed nuclear fusion as a means of powering modern societies with Carbon Dioxide free electricity may be as much a pseudo - scientific pipe dream as wind turbines and solar panels have been. But we'll get back to fusion in a while, there are a couple more pseudo - scientific scams around that will also usher in a Brave New Utopia if we throw enough taxpayers' hard earned money at them.

Another scientific breakthrough we are being told by scientists to celebrate, earlier this year, the James Webb Telescope sent its first images from across the universe, capturing pictures of places not only unimaginable distances away, but billions of years ago. The NASA telescope is in effect a time machine, allowing scientists to work out exactly how the universe began, and what happened during and just after the Big Bang. Well whoopee, but hold on a minute, back in 2016 one of our Boggart Bloggers posted an article on a scientific study which claimed the universe is 14.2 billion years old. And other studies will tell you it is only 11.6 billion or 12.8 billion years old. Now we Boggart Bloggers have always wondered why it matters so much to 'scientists' whether the universe is 10 or 20 or 50 billion years old, it changes absolutely nothing.

 Also earlier this year, DeepMind, the British artificial intelligence company, announced it had deciphered the structure of almost all the proteins – more than 200 million – known to science. Understanding the structures of proteins, they claim, means we can learn how they work and how to change what they do, meaning we can develop new medicines and technologies to confront not only human disease but famine and pollution. Well whoop -ee - doo. Unfortunately us curmudgeonly old gits remember the hoo - ha in the 1990s when stem cells were discovered or deciphered or something. This was the breakthough that would lead to cures for cancer, enable us to grow new organs when the old ones get clapped out, and enable scientists to breed a race of supermen. How has all that turned out? Actually little has changed because stem cell therapy turned out to be a lot more complicated than the simple minded scientists anticipated.

We all know the incredible story of how Western (and yes, it was Western) science responded to the Covid pandemic by producing successful vaccines and discovering treatments in record time.Unfortunately two years later we now know the vaccines not only do not provide immunity to this relatively minor illness, but actually make people more vulnerable to it and in many cases do more harm than good.

 

But back to nuclear fusion. Unfortunately as has been repeatedly demonstrated in recent years, 'science' (aka The Research Grant Phishing industry,) is no longer trustworthy. Take this line from a report on the fusion experiment: "researchers were able to generate more energy from fusion reactions than they used to start the process"

The key phrase is "to start the process."

One of the problems with fusion has been the amount of energy required to maintain a magnetic field capable of containing the reaction once it is started. From the reports of this 'breakthrough I have read the Californian team do not appear to have addressed that problem yet.

Having spent many yeas working (with computers, I'm not an engineer of physicist) in the electricity and nuclear industries I am sure the answer to cheap, reliable electrical supplies lies in Nicola Tesla's theories on radiant energy.

Why are our tech wizards not working on that?

Germany haemorrhaging cash to keep country running on as ‘net zero’ becomes zero economic activity

Germany was so desperate to be Europe's first big economy to achieve 'net zero' CO2 emissions that for years the country's government closed its fossil fuel-fired and nuclear power plants in favor of pursuing a “green energy” policy, replacing those plants with wind and solar power — as well as impoorting huge volumes of natural gas and oil from Russia.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, when NATO (aka the U.S.A.) mandated that the West impose retaliatory sanctions on Russia, including a ban on importation of Russian gas and oil, Germany found itself in a hole: Without Moscow’s energy, the ‘green infrastructure’ that existed in the country was exposed as a total failure, unable to power the country’s manufacturing industry, homes and businesses.

So now, with gas being rationed and electricity blackouts “Germany is bleeding cash in an effort to  to keep the lights on and the wheels turning,” according to a Reuters report, having already flushed “almost half a trillion dollars, and counting,  down the toilet since the Ukraine war jolted it into an energy crisis nine months ago.”

The report revealed:

That’s the cumulative scale of the bailouts and schemes the Berlin government has launched to prop up the country’s energy system since prices rocketed and it lost access to gas from main supplier Russia, according to Reuters calculations.

And it may not be enough.

“How severe this crisis will be and how long it will last greatly depends on how the energy crisis will develop,” Michael Groemling of the German Economic Institute (IW) said, adding: “The national economy as a whole is facing a huge loss of wealth.”

Reuters reported that so far, Germany has set aside around $465 billion, or €440 billion, according to available figures, which is likely just the first installment of funds to keep the country from running out of power and to help secure additional forms of energy, especially now that winter is here. Most of the money has been spent on American Liquid Natural Gas, shipped in by a fleet of tankers at a cost ten times higher than German energy distributors were paying for Russia's gas delivered through the noe defunct Nordstream pipeline.

The preeminent economic power in all of Europe, the German people — thanks to their leaders — are now going to be at the mercy of the weather in what is predicted to be the coldest winter in decades.

Many have blamed Germany’s current situation almost solely on the loss of fossil fuel energy from Russia, but that is disingenuous at best and an outright lie at worst.

According to a report from Forbes:

The International Energy Agency is at it again. In May 2021, it issued an astonishing report calling for an end to all investments in oil, gas and coal to reach the fantasy goal of net zero by 2050. Now, as the world grapples with an energy crisis with surging prices of fuels, fertilizers and food, the organization issued its new report on Renewables 2022 last Tuesday. The organization’s chief Fatih Birol tweeted “big news”, claiming that “the world is set to add as much renewable power in the next 5 years as it did in the whole of the past 20 years as countries seek to take advantage of renewables’ energy security benefits”. The mainstream press loyally reported the IEA’s claims of a “renewable energy rollout ‘turbocharged’ by global energy crisis.”

The IEA finds that the disruptions to Russia’s supplies of fossil fuel exports have shown “the energy security benefits of domestically generated renewable electricity, leading many countries to strengthen policies supporting renewables”. The report asserts that higher fossil fuel prices worldwide have improved the competitiveness of solar PV and wind generation against other fuels.

But that too is completely bogus: Forbes goes on to note that the over-reliance on green energy coupled with an under-investment in reliable (and cheaper) fossil fuels is what has led to Germany’s power crisis, along with Europe as a whole.

The outlet blamed the IEA’s wrongheaded conclusions on its adoption of  green energy ideology over science-based factual data.

“The glowing forecasts for renewable energy presented by the IEA seem free of the laws of physics and written to promote a political agenda. The descent of the once leading organization — devoted to rigorous analysis of energy economics and its policy consequences for its OECD member countries — into shoddy advocacy for the Green agenda is complete,” the Forbes report notes.

“Fixated on spurious models that allegedly link carbon dioxide emissions to apocalyptic forecasts of global warming, the IEA couldn’t care less about the intolerable financial burdens imposed on ordinary people that need affordable food, heating (or cooling), lighting and mobility,” the report continues. “Worse still, it is intent on imposing its climate change predilections on the vast majority of the world’s population that live in developing countries. But people are connecting the dots between the West’s incoherent ideological energy policies and the adverse impacts on their livelihoods.”

If that's true it makes all the times we Boggart Bloggers have been called Conspiracy Theorists, Science Deniers, Genocide Advocates, Far Right idiots, Nazis, etc. etc. seem worthwhile as we have always stuck to our position that scienifically, commercially and financially, green energy policy and the transition from fossil fuels to wind and solar power was wrong headed, ideological, fact free and doomed to failure. Ukraine Angry After FIFA Rejects Zelensky Request To Address World Cup Final

Are global audiences tired of hearing Ukraine's President Zelensky ask for more money? Or is it just 'Ukraine fatigue' setting in, which has already for months been observed among the American public, which explains the broader apparent waning interest in the conflict?

This week Zelensky issued a formal request for FIFA to allow him to share a message of "world peace" just before the kickoff to the World Cup final, scheduled for Sunday, but the world governing soccer body promptly rebuffed the request.

The Ukrainian government is angered and disappointed, given Zelensky has frequently been invited to make appeals before major public events, even including at the Grammys and Cannes Film Festival. This is when he's not already busy addressing the G7 or UN-sponsored events, or European Parliament. It goes without saying that the World Cup final will be the single most televised and watched event across the globe this year.

According to CNN, Kiev's lobbying effort is still underway, but Ukraine officials were "surprised" when FIFA quickly reacted negatively:

If you read this blog regularly you will probably be aware of the global warming wars, the regular discussion topics of which are the politicisation of science (particularly that relating to climate and envronment,)   the ongoing struggle over government-led efforts across the liberal democracies of the Europe and North america and certain outlying farmsteads like Japan and Australia to destroy western civilisation and the prosperity of its middle and working class populations by using propaganda about an impending climate disaster to tranfer industry and commerce to the low labour cost economies of Asia, Africa and South America.

The main thrust of the global elite's attack on our lifestyles is through 'green' energy policies which aim to switch our energy intensive  economies from coal, oil and gas as fuel for electricity generation and heat for industrial processes and out homes and business premises. To stop the use of fossil fuels and their associated “carbon emissions, which the elites and their science whores claim are responsible for global warming,” and achieve 'net zero' a situation in which whatever Carbon Dioxide is emitted by human activity is offset by planting trees and other equally whacko but 'environmentally friendly' schemes. 

Lately, the focus of the war on prosperity and the food supply Carbon Dioxide has focused less on what might be called the “science” of global warming, i.e., the extent to which human carbon emissions may possibly be causing atmospheric warming and whether that warming might be dangerous and more on issues of practicality and cost of the proposed of transition from reliable fossil fuels and nuclear energy to generating the electricity modern societies rely on twenty four hours a day, 365 days a year from wind turbines and solar panels. After all, as to the “science” issues, we are instructed endlessly by our politicians and media that the science of global warming is “settled.” So what’s the point of debating that any more?

In reality the 'science' supporting claims that carbon  dioxide emissions from human activity are heading us toward some kind of planetary catastrophe is not only not “settled,” but actually non-existent, while nature itself is responsible for emitting many hundreds of times more Carbon Dioxide, which is by the way a component of the air we breathe that is absolutely essential to the continuation of life on this little planet. Nevertheless trying to initiate discussion on that subject can quickly lead to arguments couched in technical jargon and mathematics that very few people will try to follow or to mutually abusive mud slinging. By contrast, almost anybody can quickly grasp why wind and solar electricity generation can’t work to power a modern economy and will multiply electricity bills by an order of magnitude.

But don’t get the idea that everybody has just given up on exposing the fake “science” behind the global warming scare. In fact, the Manhattan Contrarian is on the case, as are the contributors to the excellent Watts Up With That website and Climate Depot along with hundreds of other websites created by healthily sceptical people who habitually question official narratives on many things and usually find that the version of events politicians, the media, billionaire psychopaths and Our New Unhappy Lords in the world of business and finance would like to force us to believe.

A Dutch journalist has claimed that Germany is now a “total dictatorship”. This may seem like a case of the pot calling the kettle black given the Dutch government's plan to evict up to 3000 farmer from their land and return those acreages 'to nature' in a bid to lead the way among EU member states, to enforce total compliance with the latest loonytoons EU climate policy which requires EU members to reduce that dangerous pollutant nitrogen, which accounts for 78% of the air we breathe

The sad truth is that anyone living under the governments of the risibly misnamed 'liberal democracies' is currently living under and experiencing a “total dictatorship.” The ruling elites have declared war on the populations they govern and (theoretically) serve. Both the Carbon Dioxide scare and this latest campaign of fear about nitrogen are part of the war on food. The current energy crisis, which has been engineered deliberately is a war on healthy, comfortable living and on industry, the rapibly escalationg cost - of - living and accompanying food shortages, again deliberately engineered are an attack on prosperity and the war in Ukrain which could easily have been avoided is a deadly distraction from the mess we are really in.

Sonja van den Ende, a Dutch journalist said as much when she commented that Western nations have used talways believed were included in our inalienable human rights (Geneva Convention of 1948)

The European Union is reportedly planning to target Russian media channels with the upcoming ninth sanctions package, freezing the assets of ANO TV-Novosti, RT’s parent company, and revoking licenses from those few outlets which still hold them within the bloc. The online news content published and broadcast by these channels has already been censored through government collaboration with Big Tech.
