Will UK Leave ECHR Over Its Blocking Efforts To Control Illegal Immigration?

 

Earlier this year there was a lot of talk and many words written in msinsteam media speculating on whether Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, was seriously considering contesting the next election on a commitment to withdrawing from the ECHR if the European Court of Human Rights were to find his new immigration legislation incompatible with the Convention. Only this week, Robert Jenrick, the Minister for Immigration, said that the Government would do “whatever is necessary” to stop “the small boats”, clearly implying that this included withdrawal from the ECHR.

The UK/ECHR head - to - head is quite similar to the Germany/ECJ-ECB headbutting contest  witnessed in recent years concerning the ECB’s bond buying programme.

Though the European Court of Human Rights is not actually part of the EU its decisions and recommendations often for the basis of policy for EU member states particularly on the always controversial issue of immigration. But the ECHR is not an elected body made up of representatives from various constituencies, instead it is a body consisting of intellectuals, civil servants, and senior legal professionals. And these individuals have little understanding of the realities affecting the lives people who fall under their jurisdiction. Thus when the court's members make a decision on human rights the impact on the lives of ordinary people living in member stastes is not an important consideration.

But the decisions of the ECHR are not really about human rights or the interests of voters in its member states, they are about power and control as these things usually are. And the ECHR has, by overreaching its authority, usurped to itself a great deal of the sovereign power of its member states.

ECHR is based around a presumption that it is there to sort out rights abuses involving individuals, including irregular migrants. What such conventions do not take into account is that their decisions made about individuals affect aggregate behaviour. The number of irregular migrants increases as people in poor countries perceive that ECHR, etc., has rendered European governments impotent with regard to controlling migration. Selling the family’s goats to pay the people traffickers becomes a more attractive proposition when success is 97% guaranteed.

The European Central Bank (ECB) has also been quite creative in the way it interprets its own mandate and it was grating more and more against the core principles of the German constitution: at some point there was going to be a showdown. The German Constitutional Court fired a couple of shots over the ECB’s bows first before it all came to a head. In the event the showdown never happened some good old European bureaucratic dirty deal was bodged up, allowing the German threaury and the ECB to back down without having to admit they had backed down.

The same will probably happen in the UK / ECHR kerfuffle over the treatment of 'asylum seekers. The Conservative government, with the 2024 election in mind, wants to get tough on people who arrive in our country or turn up on our shores without and identification or official documentation and claim they are 'asylum seekers'. The ECHR says they must be treated as asylum seekers even though they are unable to prove that they meet any of the criteria for being granted political asylum.  

 The Government needs to exercise caution in the way that they approach this. Rabid, lurid campaigning against it, featuring the kind of statements heard from Tory ranks this week (“migrants who don’t want to go on the Bibby Stockholm can f*ck off back to France”) are going to go down really badly internationally (including with the Yanks due to the link to the GFA). More rational, principled debate and discussion along the lines of this article would be the way forward.

What puzzles many of us ordinary punters (i.e. non - lawyers,)  is the attitude of many English lawyers who seem to react to any suggestion that we should revise our attitude or even abandon the ECHR as blasphemy. It seems to go beyond a proper respect for treaties. Is it that they see the ECHR as our equivalent of the US Constitution (as interpreted by the US Supreme Court)? and therefore a necessary guarantee of the rule of law? of the prevention of executive abuse? of the power of activist judges? or is it just the usual groupthink and insistence on orthodoxy which seems to be a growing part of the zeitgeist more generally? It seems odd given the smugness with which English lawyers used to proclaim the supposed superiority of the Common Law and other aspects of our legal system.

It is obvious that the legal profession, like politucs, the media, medical professions, academia and the snivel service is increasingly infected by woke left thinking and therefore the ill - defined term 'human rights' has become a dogma.

It has been observed that when the legal community was more conservative, the elder a conservative members of the profession may have been bemused by the irrational, cultural - Marxist ravings of young left wing upstarts but they did not attempt to silence or discriminate against them. Now the woke brigade are in the ascendancy, dissenting views age actively frowned upon, are effectively career limiting and can result in a lawyer being struck off.

 Until recently the test of a lawyer was whether the practicioner was able to see through and dispense with the BS and get to the crux of the matter. No longer so, it seems that the profession is just as prone to herd behaviour, emotional handwringing and virtue signalling as teachers or academics.

 Because 'Human Rights' has become such an emotive phrase it is unlikely the UK will ever leave the ECHR and put itself in the company of Russia and Belarus. What could happen is that the Conservatives may push back on Strasbourg’s “mission creep”. If the UK succeeds in doing that there could easily be several governments in Europe eager to follow suit. The US government will be happy too, as its ally isn’t siding with the enemy or messing with the GFA…and frankly, having their own illegal immigration fiasco going on, the Americans should have ample sympathy for the British (and larger European) predicament.

NatWest Imposes New Cash Limits In Latest Push Towards A Cashless Society

 

NatWest RBS banking group, which owns Coutts, the bank involved in the debanking of Nogel Farage story, and itself largely owned by the government on behalf of We The Taxpayerssince 2009, has granted itself “sweeping new powers” to limit the amount of cash customers can deposit and withdrawal, triggering warnings that banks are operating as a cartel to force customers towards abandoning cash completely and accepting a “cashless society” which would pave the way to electronic surveillance of our financial activity.

NatWest, one of the UK's major high street banks has advised current account holders it is bringing in new terms and conditions “giving us the right to set limits on inbound and outbound payments”.

In a leaflet it said that could include imposing “daily and annual” cash withdrawal and deposit limits and “limiting the amount of cash” paid in or taken out.The move has aroused concerns that curbs on the use of paper money (legal tender in case the snivel servants at the Treasury have forgotten the laws,) could have negative consequences by allowing banks and government agencies to freeze customer's accounts or defund people engaged in lawful activities the government wished to suppress.

In a classic case of bad timing, the move comes just as the group is under scrutiny over the scandal that erupted after the “de-banking” of Nigel Farage who then revealed that Coutts – which is owned by NatWest Group – had closed his account because it disagreed with his political views.

NatWest said it was making the change to “protect our customers from the risk of fraud” and that it was nothing to do with limiting customers’ access to cash. Banks have been told to do more to tackle financial crime by the City watchdog but claiming that limiting cash will do that is bollocks, far more fraud is done online than in cash now.

The way banks and bureaucrats always cite prevention of fraud and money laundering as justification for their push to abolish cash is so far off the reality as to be laughable. Banks and online payment services are by far the biggest players in the money laundering business and it is far easier to launder large amounts money via computer systems than by carrying briefcases full of banknotes around.

If we lose cash we lose our freedoms - effectively vassals of the state - a form of feudalism for the modern age. Every penny we possess can be seen by the state, every penny we spend will be monitored.

Some or all of our wealth could be removed at the press of a button if it’s considered we have too much for our needs, if the state considers it could make better use of it or it’s felt we have expressed thoughts the authorities don’t want expressing.

Our ‘money’ if that’s what it would still be called, could be electronically ring-fenced for purchases the authorities approve of and prevented or limited for use on purchases they don’t. Investment would disappear - who would want to save when the state could remove our savings at a stroke?

The possibilities for control are endless. 

 

Nigel Farage, who led the successful campaign to vote the UK out of the European Union and is now organising a campaign against authoritative overreach by banks, said it was deeply worrying that banks are now giving themselves such sweeping powers to dictate how customers’ handle their money.

“The wider de-banking scandal I have uncovered has already demonstrated that banks cannot be trusted to wield such power responsibly, given the way they have closed people’s accounts purely because of the political views they hold,” he told The Telegraph, adding “There will now naturally be fears that customers who fall foul of the corporate thought police could see their access to cash cut off. Jeremy Hunt must act swiftly to make sure that this cannot happen and that legal tender remains legal tender.”

NatWest's  new rules, which come into force on Sept 11, state that: “We may apply limits to payments to and from your account, for example, to the amount of cash you pay in or withdraw, or to payment types where there is a high risk of fraud, scams or other crimes.”

Anne-Marie Morris, a Tory MP who sits on the Commons treasury committee, added: “We should not be moving to a cashless society without consumer consultation and consent.

“Of course we must ensure money laundering is not allowed to flourish. But there is a balance and society cannot just be deprived of cash because it suits banks and regulators.

“The fraud and money-laundering rules seem to be wagging the tail of the cash dog.”

Pandemic Preparedness And The Road To International Fascism

 

Looking at the trend towards authoritarianism in matters of public health, sociologist Dr. David Bell, in an article published in the American Journal of Economics and Sociology  finds there are alarming parallels between past fascist regimes, recent pandemic control measures, and the World Health Organisation's (WHO) proposed pandemic response treaty, which would give the unelected bureaucrats of the WHO the power to usurp to themselves the powers of elected government and impose laws which nations signatory to the treaty would be bound to implement in order to 'halt the progress' of a future pandemic of an as yet unknown disease.

 The World Health Organization's broad definition of health embraces physical, mental and social well-being. Expressed in its 1946 constitution alongside concepts of community participation and national sovereignty, it reflected an understanding of a world emerging from centuries of religious and colonialist oppression and the public health industry's shameful facilitation of fascism. Health policy would be people-centered, closely tied to human rights and self-determination.

The COVID-19 response has demonstrated how these ideals have been undone. Decades of increasing funding within public-private partnerships have corroded the basis of global public health. The COVID-19 response, intended for a virus that overwhelmingly targeted the elderly, ignored norms of epidemic management and human rights to institute a regime of suppression, censorship, and coercion reminiscent of the power systems and governance that were previously condemned. Without pausing to examine the costs, the public health industry is developing international instruments and processes that will entrench these destructive practices in international law.

Public health, presented as a series of health emergencies, is being used once again to facilitate a fascist approach to societal management. The beneficiaries will be the corporations and investors whom the COVID-19 response served well. Human rights and individual freedom, as under previous fascist regimes, will lose.

The public health industry must urgently awaken to the changing world in which it works, if it is to adopt a role in saving public health rather than contributing to its degradation.

Brace Yourselves: The Impact Of The Ukraine War Is About To Start Hitting Us Harder

While mainstream media in western Europe and North America continues to sing the paraises of Ukraine's armeed fgorces and report the success of the counteroffensive as the Russians are pushed back many miles each day, more perceptive people recognise that although the Ukrainians, supported by American and European weapons and cash, have fought bravely in resisting the onslaught faced over the past eighteen months, there is no doubt that in reality Ukraine is not winning or even holding their own, the country is being reduced to rubble.
 

Meanwhile a fact about the war that is hardly acknowledges is just how much worse the impact of the conflict could have been on a global scale had Russia not shown considerable restraint in the face of constant provocations by Ukraine and its non - combatant allies. Mainstream media has repeatedly commented on Russian brutality having conveniently forgotten the carpet bombing by NATO allies of Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria. In fact Russia has not taken advantage of its overwhelming air superiority and in view of Zelensky's demands for American and European war planes this is remarkable.

But maybe Moscow is playing a different game. Knowing that escalating the shooting war to an air war or a bombing campaign could easily push NATO to direct involvement on the ground and lead to the war spilling beyond Ukrainian territory, has Putin found a better, more subtle weapon?

Prior to the outbreak of hostilities Russia was the world’s leading exporter of grain and fertilizer and provided around 50% of the EU’s gas needs. Ukraine is also a major exporter of grain, second only to Russia among the worlds leading exporters. . The complete disruption of supply lines for any of these vital commodities would result in catastrophe, particularly for the world's poorer nations.

The twin disaster of  lousy harvest yields due to lack of nitrate based fertiliser and lack of grain exports last year was largely thanks to two crucial agreements secured early in the conflict: the Black Sea Grain Initiative, a deal brokered mainly by President Erdogan of Turkey with the support of the United Nations. Under the terms of the initiative Russia allowed Ukraine to continue exporting grain via the Black Sea, and a simlar deal that allowed Russian to keep the gas flowing to Europe via Ukraine. But the former has just been suspended, and the latter could soon be terminated.by Russia in reprisal for Ukraine's launching drone attacks deep into Russian territory. Should those things happen the  true cost of this war to the west and the third world would greatly increase to be counted not in Dollars, Euros or Yuan but in human life and suffering.

When Erdoghan's grain deal was signed last July, U N Secretary General António Guterres,  called it a “beacon of hope” — and rightly so. Reaching an agreement of this kind raised hopes that the two sides were ready to talk and it might prove the first step on the way to a negotiated settlement. On a more practical level it contributed to keeping grain prices low and avoided a collapse in Ukrainian exports (which declined by around 30%) — possibly preventing a global humanitarian disaster as many African, Middle Eastern and South East Asian nations depend on Russian and Ukrainian grain supplied through the U N World Food Prograsm. Over the past year, more than 1,000 ships (containing nearly 33 million metric tons of grain and other foodstuffs) left Ukraine from three Ukrainian ports: Odesa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny/Pivdennyi.

On July 17,  however, Putin pulled out of the deal having warned for several months that he could do so if the west continued increasing economic sanctions on Russia and provinding the Zelensky regime with the means to escalate the conflict. Throughout this period the deal had beeen under growing strain, with the Kremlin claiming that the West wasn’t holding up its end of the bargain, which allowed for more Russian agricultural and fertiliser exports. For this to happen, Russia insisted on reconnecting the Russian Agricultural Bank to the Swift international payment system and, among other things, the unblocking of assets and accounts of those Russian companies involved in food and fertiliser exports.

But the most important of The Kremlin's demands was the resumption of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline, which runs from the Russian city of Togliatti to various Black Sea ports in Ukraine, and which prior to the war exported 2.5 million tonnes of ammonia annually. 

Leaders of the European nations are being affected seem to care more about kowtowing to the U S administration of demented Joe Biden and the unelected bureaucrats who run the EU than about the welfare of the people whose interests they are elected to serve. If they cared about their own nation and the senseless wasting of the lives of young Ukrainian and Russian soldiers as much as they do about toeing the line dictated by The White House (because make no mistake, America has been the main driver of this conflict,) and honouring their commitments to sanction Russia into economic ruin (even though it is obvious sanctions have failed and hit the sanctioning nations harder than the target.

There was a peace deal, including Ukraine neutrality, brokered again by Turkey's president and signed by Putin and Zelenskyy but Boris Johnson was dispatched to Kiev by The White House to forbid and contact between Russia and Ukraine that was not pre - approved by Washington. 

Putin had as a sign of good faith begun pulling troops out but the NATO powers once again welched on the deal.  In 1990 James Baker had promised the Russians, if they pulled their military out of East Germany letting NATO in, that NATO would not move 1 inch East.
Russia gave that huge concession, again in good faith, and almost immediately former Warsaw Pact nations including Poland, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Hungary and The Czech Republic were recruited into NATO. On gaining independence Ukraine had been neutral, and very friendly with Russia (with most people including comedian Zelenskyy speaking only Russian), then suddenly a colour revolution in 2014, engineered by the CIA  overthrew a corrupt but democratically elected government and replaced it with a government dominated by neo - Nazi who ensured their election by banning opposition parties. 

After that 2014 coup stories about Joe Biden and the scandals attached to the dealings of his crooked, debauched son Hunter began to emerge. Western money started pouring into Ukraine, US funded bioweapons research labs sprang up faster than daffodils in the spring. 

 Russia probably guessed that the US wanted to use Crimea as their own naval base to gain dominance of The Black Sea and took it over. Then NATO built a 400K military in Ukraine, and between 2014 and the start of the special military operation 14000 civilians in Donbas were killed, mostly by artillery fire from NATO supplied weapons operated by soldiers trained in NATO member states. Ukraine was obviously becoming a military threat so, Russia acted, just as the US would act if the same thing happened in Mexico or Cuba. 

Then we also remember from 2014 Victoria Nuland’s accidentally recorded phone call  where among other things she said “F**k Europe”, and spoke of hand picking the next leader of Ukraine. And about that time talk began of plans to fast - track Ukraine into NATO membership and then further extend to North ATLANTIC Treaty Organisation away from the Atlantic by recruiting Georgia and Kazakhstan. So, anyone who has followed events knows how this all came about. Also according to the Pentagon 46 US funded biolabs were being operated there, allegedly engaged in research towards developing illegal bioweapons.

Putin had been saying that Ukrainian neutrality was a red line. The West knew this, yet continued to push Ukraine towards NATO membership.

Washington knew this, paid for this, and brought this about, just like they are the ones bringing about war with China. War, among other things, is big money for the Neo-Cons, and it’s also how the US with it’s 800 military bases all over the world (far more than any other nation) controls things. We love war, we love overthrowing governments by funding NGOs. We love the power that controlling monetary policy all over the world, and the sanctions on Russia that were always part of the plan, the fact that those hurt Europe…Well, Victoria Nuland said the US position on that in 2014. 

Zelensky was elected by the Ukrainian people on one major policy platform: Implementing the Minsk agreements, and bringing peace, yet when peace was in his grasp, he said no. Boris Johnson and NATO told him under no circumstances. That is when the “game changer” modern NATO equipment started pouring into Ukraine… one supposed game changer after another was promised to the proxy warriors.only the game never changed.  Heavy Artillery, HIMARS, Leopard 2 Tanks, None of it worked and now we have 350,000 dead Ukrainian troops in Washington’s proxy war and even more seriously wounded, Russia has lost thousands less, best estiates put their losses at around 50K. The Spring counteroffensive has not even moved past the security zone into the first of 3 lines of Russian defense, and in fact Russia is now advancing. It is NATO that is sending those men to their deaths for purely political reasons. Politics, spin, propaganda, lies, and the western powers have lied soi much they cannot stop without facing total humiliation…

Clearly the 14^th century Italian poet didn’t get the memo from UN secretary general Antonio Guterres, for whom the Hell we currently suffer is boiling hot. Or if he did get it, perhaps he binned it. I wouldn’t blame him.

There is, of course, another difference between the two Hells: in Dante’s conception you know you’re in it; in Guterres’s diagnosis you need to be told you are. Some ‘Hell’ that is.

I jest of course. Guterres claim is not that we are currently in Hell, more that we are on the road to it. And that the diesel-fuelled vehicle we are travelling in is called ‘complacency’: a stubborn and bewildering refusal on the part of you and me to recalibrate, or rather abandon, our lives in accordance with the instructions of ‘settled science’.  .. Germany: the 'sick man' of Europe again?

Despite the constant wailing and gnashing of teeth from globalists who insist on trying to blame Brexit for Britain's economic woes as if we alone are suffering a multi - layered economic crisis and that the only was out of it is for the UK to rejoin, the EU, taken as a single economy is in a worst state than the UK.  The German economy, on which solvency in the EU has depended for a long time, is in deep trouble with inflation soaring and growth stagnant, and as long as current policies remain in place there is no sign of improvement in the foreseeable future. The serial crises of the past decade and a half, from global financial meltdown through immigration, political uncertainty, COVID and the aftermath of lockdowns to the Ukraine war, energy crisis and sky high inflation, have exposed the weaknesses of the country's business model.

Although this was at the time when the rest of the world was still being propagandised into believing in the German Industrial Powerhouse the insult served as a wake-up call for German politicians, which, having bought into their own propaganda was still living in the boom years that followed reunification reunification. Germany's Federal Government had been delaying much needed reforms, hoping like Mr. Micawber that 'something would turn up. 

 

Prodded by the Economist and other critics the government of Chancellor Schröder introduced major reforms to the labour market, directing the main thrust of its efforts towards reforming Germany's generous social welfare program. In particular, the government wanted to reduce the costs of the bloated welfare system; with an ageing population and high levels of sickness and disability, the number of beneficiaries was increasing at a rate exceeding the number of contributors, thus driving the state budget close to insolvency. High benefit levels had to be paid for and economic recovery was hampered by high taxes. In response to this Schroder attempted to relieve the burden on businesses of the country’s high taxes and labour costs, which had driven away foreign investment and encouraged German firms to close German plants and move them overseas.

 

These steps slowly trurned things around and in 2014, a group of economists from Berlin and London wrote that Germany had developed"From sick man of Europe to an economic superstar."

However in 2023 the wheel has turned full circle and German economy is again struggling. For the final quarter of 2022 and the first of 2023 economic output has declined putting the national economy in "technical recession." In the most recent quarter, Germany's gross domestic product (GDP) has stagnated at the level of the previous quarter, and all the important economic indicators show a decline.

"Germany's economic situation is darkening," was the conclusion of the president of the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munich, Clemens Fuest. The Institute surveys 9,000 executives each month about the current state of their businesses and their expectations for the next six months. The resulting Business Climate Index (July 2023) has fallen for the third month in a row. The Institute researchers expect Germany's GDP to decline again during the current quarter. ...

Commerzbank chief economist Jörg Krämer reinforces the opinion of Clemens Fuest and the Munich Institute for Economic Research: "Unfortunately, there is no improvement in sight," Krämer told the Reuters news agency. "The worldwide interest rate increases are taking their toll, especially since German businesses are already unsettled due to the eroding quality of their location."

The country's industrial sector, the showpiece of its economy, is causing the most concern. It accounts for a relatively large portion of Germany's gross value added (GVA), about 24%, and has been suffering  global trends along with other developed nations. A worldwide economic slump in the wake of the COVID pandemic fiasco added to globalist ideologies' influence on policy making it easier for manufacturers to move operations from highly regulated areas such as the EU to nations ith more lax regulatoty and business taxation jurisdictions. Germany's once mighty engineering and automobile sectors, which were heavily reliant on exports, are feeling the effects of foreign customers holding back while cheaper imports from China and other 'emerging' economies flood the domestic market.

And on top of all this a decade of unregulated mass immigration of semi - literate, poorly educated, culturally incompatible, unemployable migrants from third world nations has bloated the welfare system again.

Compared with other industrialized nations, Germany is performing exceptionally poorly — and according to an estimate by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be the only large country to have a shrinking economic output.
