The Business of War: Defense Sales Keep Economies Of Manufacturing Nations Afloat

Orwell knew a thing or two about human nature (Image source)

Tens of thousands have been killed and millions displaced due to 'humanitarian' interventions by the developed nations (led by the USA, France and the UKm the FUKUS axis) in the domestic politics of third world nation. Usually these interventions are justified by citing the urgent need to depose a tyrannical dictator who a bit nasty to those opposed to his regime, but who is getting in the way of achieving western geopolitical goals. War is good business of course so often the interventions support rebel groups who if they came to power would be far more oppressive and brutal regime than the one they replaced.

Assad was a fairly benign dictator, sure, he eliminated his opponents with ruthless efficiency but there are plenty of tyrants around the world who have killed far more of their own people (Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe for example) so why is it imperative to get rid of Assad? And why did Gadaffi have to go in Libya yet the regimes in Sudan, Somalia, Democratic Republic Of Congo, Mali, Mayanmar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Kazakstan and Uzbekistan to name but a few (without naming the one supported by the western powers whose ruler likes to have his critics boiled alive) all have abysmal rrecords of human rights abuses and yet are supported by the west and the United Nations.

The case is war is good for business, and now that Quantitative Easing (printing money) has failed to restart stagnant economies and negative interest rates (you pay the bank interest on your savings) looking likely to be as popular as a smelly fart in a small lift, war looks like the only remaining option to save the global economy from another collapse. British defense company BAE systems has seemingly anticipated the upturn in demand for missiles, guns, helicopters, tanks etc. and cashed in on the conflict, posting a sharp rise in revenue due to the sale of products mainly to Saudi Arabia, one of the top human rights abusing regimes in the world that has been busy bombing Yemen and sending weapons to ISIS for several years.

BAE's armaments and defence equipment sales sales rose by 7.6 percent in the past year to US$25.7 billion (£17.9bn), while the company's share price eclipsed earlier forecasts. The company, which specializes in selling air and naval military products, as well as munitions and warfare systems, had for years been making job cuts and a scaling down of production due to a lack of demand.

However, the increase in fighting in Syria and Yemen has seemingly boosted demand and subsequently the company's sales over the past three years. BAE confirmed it had increased aircraft deliveries to Saudi Arabia and struck a deal to supply the Gulf kingdom with 22 more "Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer" aircraft, along with additional ground equipment training aids.

The announcement of increased profits comes at a time of high debate about arms sales to Saudi Arabia, with many campaigners concerned about reports of alleged Saudi war crimes and breaches and international law associated with Riyadh's bombing campaign against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Other defence equipment makers doing well include United Technologies with military equipment sales of $11 billion out of a total revenue of $58 billion, Rayethon, whose military sales of $22 billion make up 90% of its total revenue, the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS), based in the Netherlands, with armaments sales of $17billion. Arms sales comprised just 24% of the company's revenue; Italian company Finmeccanica makes a wide range of arms, including helicopters and security electronics, nearly 60% of the company's sales in 2011 were in arms. Finmeccanica lost $3.2 billion in 2011 but since the escalation of hostilities has returned to profit.

Those are just a random sample, some major players, a couple of smaller ones. More European operations can be found HERE and the American Top 25 HERE A full list would be very long and that is without adding military contractors. Yes,war has always been good for business and that is why we seem set on an irreversible course to global conflict. You see even if the shooting war does not kick off, increased tensions will ensure bigger defence budgets for several decades.

I suppose I should be proud that British company BAE systems are world No. 1 but I cannot honestly say that I am. It would please me far more if we were top in one of the other areas in which we excel.

Turkey Blames Kurds, Assad For Terrorist Attack, Vows Swift Response

Scene of the car bomb that killed around thirty people in Ankara, Turkey. Although it is not clear who is responsible, Turkish President Recep Erdogan has vowed revenge against Syria's Assad regime and the Free Kurdish Party (PKK)

For several weeks we have been reporting that events in Syria were spinning dangerously out of control, first with leaks of classified information revealing rogue state and NATO member (how did our leaders let that happen?) Turkey had been financing ISIS by buying up oil from wells in territory held by the terrorists, and supplying weapons to ISIS combat units.

Then we had news of Turkey's incursion into Kurdish territory, ostensibly to oppose ISIS (although the fiercely independent Kurds have been by far the most effective force opposing ISIS until Russia intervened. That was closely followed by the news that Assad's forces, backed by elite Republican Guards from Iran were pushing back the forces of ISIS and Obama's 'moderate rebels, the ISIS affiliated Free Syrian Army), we were among the first to report that Turkey and Saudi Arabia were planning a joint invasion of Syria, 'to oppose ISIS' although the primary objective of those nations and the USA has long been the removal of Assad for economic and strategic reasons.

Yesterday came the first terrorist attack on Turkish soil.

As this blog predicted (and let's face it, a reasonably well educated amoeba could have predicted it,) President Erdogan of Turkey is blaming the Kurds and President Assad of Syria for yesterday's bomb blast in the Turkish capital Ankara which killed and injured many people.

The smart commentators (ourselves included) however were not apportioning blame but expressing concern that the attack, no matter who was responsible, would be blamed on Assad and the Kurds, thus giving the nutter Erdogan an excuse to intensify his actions against Assad and the Kurds which can only lead to a general intensification of the conflict. So how do things stand a day later:

from Zero Hedge:

... we wondered whether the bombing - which apparently targeted military barracks - would be just the excuse President Recep Tayyip Erdogan needed to launch an all-out ground invasion in Syria. Turkey has been shelling YPG positions for nearly a week in an effort to keep the group (which Ankara equates with the “terrorist” PKK) from cutting the Azaz corridor - the last lifeline between Turkey and the rebels fighting to oust Bashar al-Assad. It’s unlikely that cross-border fire will ultimately halt the YPG advance and so, Erdogan needs an excuse to send in the ground troops.

Sure enough, Ankara has blamed the YPG for the attack and is vowing to retaliate. “Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu blamed a Syrian Kurdish militia fighter working with Kurdish militants inside Turkey for a suicide car bombing that killed 28 people in the capital Ankara, and he vowed retaliation in both Syria and Iraq,” Reuters reports, on Thursday. “Davutoglu said the attack was clear evidence that the YPG, a Syrian Kurdish militia that has been supported by the United States (USA) in the fight against Islamic State in northern Syria, was a terrorist organization and that Turkey, a NATO member, expected cooperation from its allies in combating the group.”

Right. It’s “clear evidence” of something alright, but “clear evidence” of what we’re not sure.

"The assailants have all been identified. It was Syrian national Salih Necar who was born in the northern Syrian city Amuda in 1992," Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Thursday. "YPG is a pawn of the Syrian regime and the regime is directly responsible for the Ankara attack. Turkey reserves the right to take any measure against the Syrian regime," he added.

Obviously, that's utter nonsense. Assad is fighting for his life. Both figuratively and literally. The idea that he spends his days plotting Ankara car bombs with the Kurds (who do not, by the way, wholeheartedly support the regime) is patently absurd.

For their part, the YPG says this is nonsense and also says Turkey’s self defense claim (used as an excuse to justify the shelling at Azaz) is equally absurd. “We are completely refuting that," Saleh Muslim, co-chair of the PYD, told Reuters. "I can assure you that not even one bullet is fired by YPG into Turkey [because YPG doesn’t] consider Turkey as an enemy.”

Needless to say, this "terror attack" is exceptionally suspicious. Turkey is one of the countries with the most to lose if the effort to usurp Assad fails. And as you're likely aware, the rebellion is on the ropes. Aleppo is surrounded by Russia and Hezbollah and it will fall in a matter of weeks. Once it's recaptured by Assad, the rebel cause is lost. The rebellion will be over.

The economic advantages Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the USA seek by deposing the Shia Muslim regime of President Assad and imposing a Sunni Muslim puppet ruler have been well reported and the hoped for benefits to the military - industrial cartel of all out war between NATO and the Russia, China, Iran alliance should be obvious. Needless to say those benefits only apply to people who can afford to living in radiation proof bunkers for a couple of years, byt don't forget Ted Turner, the billionaire founder of corporate media giant CNN is on record as having said the earth's population needed to be reduced to less than a billion people, and multi - billionaire 'philanthropist' Bill Gates in an unguarded moment said his third world vaccination programmes would reduce the population by fifty per cent and you start to see where these sociopaths are heading.

You should not have to 'join up the dots', the big picture is staring you in the fucking face.

Unconfirmed Report: huge Explosion In Ankara, Turkey's Capital City

News Update, 17:52

We are getting more news on the explosion in Ankara, Turkey. Early indications are that military barracks were targeted. A "large number of casulaties" are rumored. Expect this to be pinned on either ISIS or the PKK. If it's the latter, Ankara will once again claim that the group is working in concert with the YPG and that will be all the evidence Erdogan needs to march across the border.

Wall Street Journal News Ticker reports:

A car-bomb attack hit the Turkish capital Wednesday night, killing at least five people and wounding 10 others, according to Turkish officials.

The huge explosion struck in Ankara outside a military housing complex, a short distance from the Turkish armed forces headquarters. Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency said the explosion happened as military buses were passing by.

Authorities dispatched ambulances and fire engines to the area, as well as police forces to cordon off the scene.

Turkish television stations broadcast thick plumes rising from the explosion area, as well as images of vehicles ablaze.

Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters that the government is investigating the explosion, according to Anadolu news.

Machester UK, 17:00, Wednesday 17 February

We picked up speculation a while ago about a huge explosion in Turkey' capital city Ankara, close to government and military headquarters. So far we have not been able to confirm this.

Turkey has been shelling Syria for several days of course and with allies Saudi Arabia has been looking for an excuse to send ground troops into Syrian territory in a desperate bid to stop President Assad's forces destroying the Sunni Muslim rebellion.

If Turkey does invade Syarian territory however, it is likely that Assad's allies Russia, Iran and China will retaliate and because Turkey is a NATO member, European nations and the USA would be obliged to support the Turks.nd Saudi Arabia are officially fighting the ISIS incursion, but it is widely known their primary objective is to depose Assad.

The Turks have also been attacking targets in Kurdish territory. Turkey a

With Twitter going mad on the story we gather the explosion was at a military dormitory in Ankara has left several people injured, reports say.

A Turkish police official quoted by the BBC said a vehicle exploded.

Photos on social media showed large plumes of smoke rising from the area.

Turkey has been hit by a serious of attacks recently, including a suicide bomber that killed 10 people in Istanbul last month.

Since starting it type this short post, we have learned there has indeed been an explosion in Turkey as reported. It is not yrt known which group is claiming responsibility. Hold tight folks.

Cameron's EU Deal As Worthless As Neville Chamberlain's 'Peace In Our Time.'?

What has the EU done for us? (Image Source)

Opinion polls show Britain is evenly divided on the question of whether to leave or remain in the EU, though it has been suggested up to 10 million other voters, many of them women, have yet to make a decision. How they cast their vote will shape the future of the world’s fifth largest economy and the EU itself.Should we regard polls as a reliable pointer after last years General Election and the Scottish Referendum?

Fears over privacy, raise by internet hacking and activist sites such as Wikileaks and general mistrust of the media have made many people reluctant to take part in polls, one polling organisation I read of had to call 22,000 people in order to select a representative panel of 2000 for a telephone poll.

The current situation in the EU polling as David Cameron desperately tries today to win concessions that will make staying in the EU acceptable to supporters of the Conservative Party he leads is that Britain has long received a “poor man’s offering” from what she views as a German and French-dominated bloc. Some even blames the unrealistic EU’s emissions rules for forcing the beloved Land Rover Defender 4×4 out of production.

Cameron’s plans to appease sceptical voters by cutting the benefits paid to EU migrants appealed to undecided voters  but looks to be a non starter among EU leaders who must approve the deal. European Parliment President Martin Schulz, who last year said that public opinion does not matter and EU bureaucrats will do as they please regardless of any votes, has stated that any deal offered to Cameron today cannot be legally binding.

Fair warning it seems that the EU will stab us in the back should we vote to leave.

The 'Leave' campaigns are not faring any better. Talk less about immigration and give more detail on whether Britain would be better or worse off outside the EU, many people in areas not much affected by mass immigration are saying.

Around one in five British voters tell pollsters they have yet to make up their minds. Many are middle-aged women who support Cameron’s Conservatives and live outside London and Scotland, two of Britain’s most pro-European areas.

If Cameron is to keep Britain in the bloc it joined in 1973, he will need to secure the vote of millions of people in rural areas and the old industrial towns of the north and midlands.

The game changer, should voters wake up to it, is that as UKIP leader Nigel Farage revealed, whatever deal Cameron wins over the next few days will be a fraud. The Prime Minister will present it to the nation as a done deal before the actual vote and should we vote to leave it will be binding on us.

Any changes to the terms of our membership however must be approved by the European Parliament and MEPs will certainly veto it, as the Parliament itself and its voting system (Qualified Majority) are heavily biased in favour of those nations that support ever greater integration until member states no longer exist as sovereign nations but only as administrative regions in a Federal European Superstate.

The rest of Europe is watching warily – Britain is the EU’s second largest economy, one of only to net contributors to EU funds, and one of its top two military powers.

American Democracy Today?

Democracy having a bad hair day in America (Image source)

Being a British citizen living and voting in Britain I am both fascinated and mystified by the arcane American electoral system. However even before learning that despite his having obliterated Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire democratic Party primary last week, Bernie cannot hope to emerge from the process with more delegate votes than Hillary when it comes down to the final nomination process, due to the influence of 'Super Delegates' I decided this blog ought to take a closer look at the way things are done.

And what I found was the system is as unfair and undemocratic and as biased towards preserving the status quo as our archaic and broken system in Britain.

Now like most Europeans who take a passing interest in American politics I was aware that money is a major factor in US elections and so was aware that the so called Super PACs are a way of avoiding legal spending limits on candidates campaigns. I was curious to know more about superdelegates and being a survivor of a long career in Information Technology wanted to know just how easy it is to hack the voting machines. (Quick guess: an eleven year old could do it).

Here's an article from former green Party Presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney that a lot of people will find informative.

 Ian R Thorpe.

Super PACs, Super-Delegates, & Hacked Voting Machines.

from an Op Ed by Cynthia McKinney for RT

(This piece has been edited for brevity, although we are sure the significance of the content has not been altered - Editor)

According to the New Testament, Jesus once remarked to a wealthy man that “it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to go to heaven.”
Today, we could amend the words of that Biblical reference with the US presidential race underway:
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a voter in the US to know and understand the rules regulating the administration of all elections, including elections for President of the United States.”
Let’s start with the phenomenon of what is called a “minority president.”  A minority president is one who has failed to win a plurality of the votes cast in the race for president, and yet is still able to become President of the United States. This is the exact opposite of what a true democracy would require.

The United States has actually had several minority presidents in its history, while the 21st century began ominously enough with yet another minority President: George W. Bush, the Republican who failed to secure the most votes cast by the people [in the 2000 election, the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 ruling, decided the victor of the race after moving to halt the recount process in the state of Florida].

Both the US House and the US Senate are charged with counting the Electoral College votes, and this is a process in which I have participated. It’s not the people who have the last word in US elections. It’s a non-democratic construct called the Electoral College that does, except in those rare instances when it doesn’t.

The Electoral College was created by the framers of the US Constitution to ensure that the votes of the plebes did not supersede the interests of the landed gentry. That’s not just my opinion. For example, according to FairVote, an organization with which I have worked in the 2000 Presidential election, a whopping 78 percent of the votes cast were rendered unimportant due to the arcane rules of the Electoral College. They estimate that in 2008, the figure still topped 70 percent.

In order to be declared the winner of the presidency, 270 Electoral College votes are required. But the process is not what could be called transparent. For example, veteran Pro Se litigator Asa Gordon has demonstrated how the Black vote in the US is rendered less relevant by the arcane apportionment rules of the Electoral College.

Add to the above debacles, the US Congress and the election authorities in the 50 states have authorized and encouraged the use of hackable electronic voting machines that are used for vote casting and vote tabulation. Bev Harris and her company, Black Box Voting, has accumulated horror stories surrounding the non-transparency of US elections.

Such a scenario is what led former President Jimmy Carter to comment he “absolutely” could not be elected today under such conditions, going so far as to characterize the United States as an oligarchy, not a democracy.

In the US, votes and vote tabulation processes are done without any traceable back-up procedures. In other words, there is no paper trail - no receipt of a vote, as it were - whatsoever. In one of my Congressional elections in which the electronic voting machines “failed,” not only was I unable to obtain the election data despite a lawsuit having been filed, an expert witness for the state of Georgia testified that voters have to simply “trust” that the announced winner is the actual winner. Meanwhile, candidates have no access to the raw election data because that information is “owned” by Diebold—the company that produced the electronic voting machines and the software used by them (The documentary ‘American Blackout’ tells my own personal story with US elections). It is difficult to place trust in the US election system when we learn about the number of votes cast that go uncounted. In the 2000 Presidential election between Bush and Gore, between two million and five million Americans went to the polls and voted, yet their votes were thrown out, disqualified for any number of reasons. Half of those uncounted votes were cast by Black Americans.

Add to these procedural vagaries, the influence of private money in US elections and even the pretense of holding transparent, free, and fair elections is stood completely on its head. As I wrote in a previous post, the rules have given rise to super-wealthy individuals who lurk in the shadows while becoming the power behind the public faces of candidates: Marco Rubio has Norman Braman as his closest and most important backer. Hillary Clinton has Haim Saban as one of her top donors; Sheldon Adelson is a “player” at the Presidential level in US politics. Billionaire Donald Trump self-finances his Presidential bid and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is rumored to be willing to spend one billion dollars in his still-to-be-announced independent presidential run.

President Assad (who succeeded his father as ruler of Syria and therefore is bad) is a really, really nasty guy who was so nasty to his people that only just over half of them strongly supported his regime, but the first black President of The USA, The Enitre Universe and everything else besides did not like the way Assad, a Shia Muslim, ran Syria and took delight in stopping the Sunni Muslims killing Shia muslims and Yazidis and Syriac Christians.

The Sunni's (a sect of which Obama is most definitely not a member because he said he is a Christian when he needed the black evangelical vote to get himself elected) wanted Syria for themselves, so that they could reintroduce their favourite spectator sports, beheading and stoning.

Obama gave some of his Al Qaeda (Sunni) buddies some money and some weapons and told them to overthrow Assad. They stirred up the malcontents in Syria and imported Afghan, Pakistani and north African mercenaries, secured further funds from Saudi Arabia, did a deal with Turkey to launder oil from stolen oil wells, and rebelled.

The Rebels (who were good) started winning.

But then some of the rebels turned a bit nasty and started raping and beheading and noshing human organs (not cold you understand, but still warm from the corpses of freshly killed donors; ISIS fighters are not animals and plenty of people in the west enjoy a warm doner) Having changed their name more often than they change their underpants, finally settling on Islamic State, ISIS (who are definitely bad)started attacking Iraq as well as Syria. Others, whom Obama named 'moderate rebels' carried on killing, raping and enslaving innocent people, but they were fair about it, confined their actions to syria and also continued to support democracy (which is good, even when people are forced to vote at gunpoint).

After a while the good rebels and ISIS (bad rebels) started fighting each other. This distraction gave Assad the upper hand.

Obama was furious about this, because he wanted the moderate Sunni rebels to win so the Americans (who are good and wear white hats and masks and ride horses called Silver) started bombing Islamic State (who are bad and wear black hoods and ride Toyota pick up trucks,) and giving arms to the moderate Syrian Rebels (who are good) so they could fight Assad (who is still bad) which was good. Unfortunately the moderate rebels took the new, high tech weapons systems and defected to ISIS (who paid better wages and offered one sex slave shared between five guys here on earth as opposed to 72 virgins (or raisins depending on which translation of The Koran you believe) in heaven.

Meanwhile the Kurds, who weigh heavily in middle eastern politics had merged their Syrian territory with the autonamous territory in Iraq they were given after the first Gulf War in 1991 to form a breakaway state in the north. The Kurds are great fighters (they have 4000 years experience) and want to fight IS (which is a good thing) but to free Kurds living in Turkish terriotry. Turkey is a member of NATO and want to join the EU so the Kurds are bad because NATO is good. The Kurds have no time for Assad but agree with him the Turkish government (Sunni Muslims) are bad. So we have to say the Kurds are bad when fighting Turkey (who are supplying ISIS with money and weapons remember) but good when they are fighting ISIS.

Secretly we think the Kurds are good and are giving them guns to fight IS (which is a good fight) because we in the west love underdogs, except Assad who is bad like Muammar (Mad Dog) Gadaffi of Libya, whom we killed because although he was insane had mental health issues and was no threat to the west and killed far less people than insane tyrants we support, was bad because The Americans wanted to control Libya's oilfields.

Getting back to Syria. President Putin (who is bad because he is Russian, makes fun of Obama, threatens to turn the gas off when the EU annoy him and likes to take his shirt off,) had invaded Crimea and the Ukraine and killed lots of folks including that nice Russian man in London (with polonium in his tea) decided to back Assad (who is still bad) by attacking IS (who are also bad) which is a bad thing because the Americans do not really want ISIS beaten after they have invested a lot of money and effort in preparing the rebels to overthrow Assad. The important thing to understand here is the good rebels and bad rebels are the same. Good or bad depends on which way their guns are pointing.

But Putin know the Syrian Rebels who are good are also bad because they all want to kill Assad whom Russia supports, and so he bombs them too, much to the annoyance of the Americans (who are good) who are busy backing and arming the rebels (who are also good).

China also supports assad and has sent soldiers to boost his ground army. The Chinese are inscrutable so their contribution cannot be estimated.

Iran (who used to be bad, but now they have agreed not to build any nuclear weapons and bomb Israel are now good) are going to provide ground troops to support Assad (which is bad) as are the Russians (bad) who now have ground troops and aircraft in Syria.

WHAT IS GOING ON IN SYRIA

So, a Coalition of Assad (still bad) Putin (extra bad) and the Iranians (good, but in a bad sort of way) are going to attack IS (who are bad) which is a good thing, but also the Syrian Rebels (who are good) which is bad.

Now the British (obviously good, except for David Cameron whose alleged necrophiliac cavortings with a pig make him persona non grata to Muslims (because while cavorting with goats is fine, cavorting with pigs whether alive or dead is an absolute no-no, the Koran is very clear on that) and the Americans (also good - white hts, eye masks, horses called silver) cannot attack Assad for fear of upsetting Putin because if it kicks off with Russia, China (too importsnt for trade to be bad) and Iran (good or bad) will join in. So now America and the NATO coalition have to accept that Assad might not be that bad after all because if the west gets into another messy, unwinnable war it might help Donald Trump (who is super bad) in his big to be elected President.

So Assad is now probably good, being better than IS and since Putin and Iran are also fighting IS that may now make them good. America (still good) will find it hard to arm a group of rebels being attacked by the Russians for fear of upsetting Mr Putin (now good) and that mad Ayatollah in Iran (also good now) and so they may be forced to say that all the rebels, even the moderate ones (i.e. when they are shooting at assad's supporters) are now bad. This will lead most of them to flee to Turkey and on to Europe to join IS cells(still the only constantly bad group) or local Islamic amateur Rapist groups in cities like cologne and Stockholm.

To Sunni Muslims, an attack by Shia Muslims (Assad and Iran) backed by Russians will be seen as something of a Holy War, and the ranks of IS will now be seen by the Sunnis as the only Jihadis fighting in the Holy War and hence many Muslims will now see IS as good (doh!).

Sunni Muslims will also see the lack of action by Britain and America in support of their Sunni rebel brothers as something of a betrayal and hence we will be seen as bad.

So now we have America (now bad) and Britain (also bad) providing limited support to Sunni Rebels (bad) many of whom are looking to 'moderate' rebels (were good, now bad) and IS ( still bad) for support against Assad (now good) who, along with Iran (also good) and Putin ( unbelievably good because The Pentagon and The Ministry of Defence have seen what SU35 aircraft and Growler missiles can do) are attempting to retake the country Assad used to run before all this started?

Even for people who have never taken any interest in middle eastern politics, that should be a clear as mud.

CONSPIRAY THEORY ALERT: Justice Scalia Found Dead "With Pillow Over His Head", But No Autopsy Ordered

No time and no inclination to research this news and write my own report (well I'm British) but the story deserves to be out there, so with an acknowledgement that I owe Tyler Durden as Zero Hedge a big drink for this story, here it is.

from Zero Hedge

Antonin Scalia looking for all the world like a Mafia Don talks to the Cappo di Tutti Cappi Ronald (Irish Ronnie) Reagan

The death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Saturday morning has taken a turn for the conspiracy-theorist following comments from the Houston businessman who discovered the judge's body.
This is the news as it was delivered to the general public yesterday morning:
A federal official who asked not to be named said there was no evidence of foul play and it appeared that Scalia died of natural causes.

According to CNN, Scalia died in his sleep. A government official said Scalia went to bed Friday night and told friends he wasn't feeling well. Saturday morning, he didn't get up for breakfast. And the group he was with for a hunting trip left without him.

Someone at the ranch went in to check on him and found him unresponsive.

So - a sad death with the elderly judge passing quietly in his sleep - completely reasonable.
Except as San Antonio Express - which first broke the news of Scalia's death on Saturday afternoon - reports, that "someone" was John Poindexter, owner of the 30,000-acre luxury ranch who is reported to have said the following...
"We discovered the judge in bed, a pillow over his head. His bed clothes were unwrinkled," said Poindexter.

"He was lying very restfully. It looked like he had not quite awakened from a nap," he said.

Scalia,79, did not have a pulse and his body was cold, and after consulting with a doctor at a hospital in Alpine, Poindexter concluded resuscitation would have been futile, He then contacted federal authorities, at first encountering a series of answering services because he was calling on a weekend.

While it is of course a "natural" thing to die if someone is suffocating you with a pillow, we sense that is not the norm for "natural causes."
Adding further to the questions surrounding the death, there will be no autopsy performed on Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, a source familiar with the case confirmed to CNN.
The decision for no autopsy was made both by the family and the Texas Justice of the Peace, the source said.
Scalia’s death marks only the second time in sixty years a justice has died before retiring from the Court, and leaves the Court split 4-4 between fairly conservative and fairly liberal, during a heated presidential election year..

Merkel Isolated As Europe Splits Over Refugee Crisis

With the UK Prime Minister David Cameron still desperately trying to convince his 'revised terms' of British membership of the EU are a really good deal, when in fact they will change nothing, our attention should shift to developments elsewhere in Europe.

Merkel Isolated as EU members and citizens shout 'Enough.'

German Chancellor, Hausfrau - Volksfuhrer Angela Merkel has been looking increasingly isolated over the past few months as German voters, political partners in the fragile ruling coalition she heads and now the leaders of other EU member states publicly reject her insistence that Europe must welcome the millions of people, mostly economic migrants, arriving at the EU's external borders without passports or travel documents. Merkel's handling of the refugee crisis has been incompetent bordering on insane as she has directed police to ignore serious crime such as rape and violent assault committed by immigrants to avoid raising racial tensions. Once the public became aware Merkel's government were condoning the increasing lawlessness and violence in immigrant communities, it raised racial tensions far more than dealing properly with the problem would.

For a decade Merkel had been regarded as the most powerful politician in the European Union but as a result of the migrant crisis she has inflicted not just on Germany but the whole of Europe as her 'open doors' policy encouraged left wing extremists (largely funded by the global government advocate George Soros) to place ads with third world media sending out the message that Europe actually needs ignorant, uneducated, illiterate, uncivilised peasants and professional beggars.

The crisis has now prompted the foundation of the Visegrad group (see map) - whose core members, the Czech Republic, Hungary,
Poland and Slovakia - threaten to split Europe over the issue of Merkel's proposal that illegal immigrants posing as refugees be distributed around the EU on a quota basis, and over the issue of border controls. The dedication of the ruling bureaucrats in Brussels to the socialist ideal of a borderless world is immovable and the elite in their ivory towers are oblivious to the problems being caused in the cities and rural areas where ordinary working people live.

Merkel provoked anger after calling on all EU member states to participate in a mandatory relocation scheme whereby genuine refugees from war zones, or countries where people are likely to be persecuted against, are offered asylum throughout all the EU countries. In fact Germany has been registering all comers as genuine refugees and asylum seekers, even though many of them are obviously not of middle eastern origin but from sub - Saharan Africa. Many others, while having similar appearance to middle eastern peoples are from north African nations.

At Monday's meeting of the Visegrad group the core members (sic) alongside Bulgaria and Macedonia are outlining their determination to avoid a compulsory relocation scheme and threaten to close their borders completely to stem the flow of migrants and refugees flooding into Europe.

Merkel is desperate not to oversee the collapse of the Schengen borderless Europe zone, if that happens she will be totally humiliated and her political legacy destroyed. Holding things together at this week's EU leaders' summit will be no easy task however. The Visegrad group is calling for a 'Plan B', closing the border with Greece and Macedonia.

Hungary has already built a 175km razor wire fenced along its border with Serbia and another 40km fence at its border with Croatia. Bulgaria built a fence blocking migrants from Turkey and other border controls are in place between Turkey and Greece, Macedonia and Greece, Austria and Hungary, as well as Slovenia and Austria.

Welcome To World War Three Folks: It has kicked off in Syria.

This didn't take long after our previous post on Turkish troops shelling targets within Syria in territory held by the alliance supporting President Assad, which suggests we are closer to World War Three than even we predicted.

Members of the Kurdish defence force patrol near the Turkish / syrian border - Turkey has planned to annex Kurdish territory in Syria for many years.

from Reuters:

Damascus says believes some Turkish forces entered Syria

The Syrian government says Turkish forces were believed to be among 100 gunmen it said entered Syria on Saturday accompanied by 12 pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns, in an ongoing supply operation to insurgents fighting Damascus.

"The operation of supplying ammunition and weapons is continuing via the Bab al-Salama crossing to the Syrian area of Azaz," the Syrian foreign ministry said in a letter to the U.N. Security Council published by state news agency SANA.

It said the pick-up trucks were "accompanied by around 100 gunmen some of whom are believed to be Turkish forces and Turkish mercenaries".

The same letter also criticised Turkey for shelling areas of northern Syria. Azaz is north of Aleppo near the Turkish border.
