Energy Secretary Chris Wright, speaking at a London conference on Monday, condemned the United Nations backed 2050 net-zero
emissions target as a "sinister goal" and criticized the U.K.'s clean
energy policies which aim to have our country 'lead the world to economic and social breakdown Net Zero, according to Reuters.
With President Trump having already taken steps to abandon the target, which was embraced enthusiastically by the far left apparatchiks who created and implemented policies for the previous administration of mentally incapacitated Joe Biden, Wright said,: "Net Zero 2050 is a sinister goal. It's a terrible goal. The aggressive pursuit of it - and you're sitting in a country that has aggressively pursued this goal - has not delivered any benefits, but it's delivered tremendous costs."
Addressing the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship event, Wright emphasized his top priority: for the government to "get out of the way" of oil, gas, and coal production.
The Reuters report states that Wright highlighted the Trump administration’s approval of the Commonwealth LNG export terminal in Louisiana Wright underscored the importance of hydrocarbons', adding, "The world simply runs on hydrocarbons, and for most of their uses, we don't have replacements."
Criticizing Britain's net-zero push led by Prime Minister Kweir Smarmer and swivel eyed Net Zero fanatic Energy Secretary Mad Ed Miliband, he argued the policy and the ill considered efforts to be first in the world to reach the impossible target had already harmed living standards, destroyed jobs and by taxing CO2 emitting industries into insolvency had merely shifted emissions abroad. "No one's going to make an energy-intensive product in the United Kingdom any more. It's just been displaced somewhere else," he said, calling the policy "lunacy" that is impoverishing your own citizens in a delusion that this is somehow going to make the world a better place."
Prime Minister Starmer, however, has made clean energy central to his economic strategy, focusing on offshore wind for job creation and growth even though this source is so economically unviable that the world's biggest offshore and farm operator, Orsted, has cancelled planned developments in UK waters . Former President Donald Trump also weighed in on UK Net Zeto lunacy, urging the U.K. to "open up" North Sea oil and gas and scrap wind farms, but it seems the government are not getting the message.
“Energy bills are set to rise again due to a spike in global gas markets,” Miliband claimed this week. This latest rise means that the price cap administered by energy retail market regulator Ofgem will also rise this April. This will be the third price cap increase since the General Election lsast July, when Miliband campaigned on a promise of ‘lower bills’after the transition to green energy. “This will put up energy bills because of our reliance on global fossil fuel markets controlled by petrostates and dictators,” the Secretary of State for Rising Energy Prices and Outright Falsehoods idiotically added. There is trouble, and likely blackout and electricity rationing ahead, but rather than admit this is simply because wind and solar genertion simply does not work when the wind does not work and the sun doesn't shine, (the latter being guaranteed for an everage of twelve hours a day over the full year,) and face up to these problems, Miliband merely gaslights the public. It is never mentioned by politicians or mainstream media of course tat the previous wannabe leader of the race to net zero, Germany, has to abandon its rush to clean green electricity and restart coal fired power stations late in 2023 when the failure of wind and solar and the loss of cheap gas supplies from Russia left the country facing blacouts ad rationing of electricity use.
There are so many problems with Miliband’s claims it is clear he was desperately lying to deflect attention from the stupidity of his policies.
The first is that there is no “global” gas market – a fact that one might expect the most senior Minister with an energy brief to understand. This fact is easily demonstrated by a comparison or natural gas prices on different markets. At the time of writing, according to the Trading Economics platform, gas was selling for £0.117 per therm in Britain and $4 per MMMbtu in the USA – translated, this means gas is 4p per kWh in the UK and 1p per kWh in the USA. If there was a “global market” for the energy commodity, these prices would be much closer – within the order of a few per cent, as with oil, not one many times larger than the other. There is no more a “global market” for gas than there is a global market for blowjobs.
If the CEO or Finance Director of any listed company misled the markets and investors in the way the Labour Party has, they would be in a world of trouble. How can politicians not be accountable in the same way?
